Rex: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa! Hey, Holden, relax. You got nowhere to go.

Al: No. Please don't tell me it's over. Please.

Rex: Sutter collected the exams, like, 15 minutes --

Al: Oh, man!

Rex: What happened? Out tracking down Jen Rappaport again?

Al: I studied all night for this test, man, and I slept through it.

Rex: That'll happen.

Al: I can't believe this is happening.

Rex: Listen, you know, next time you're up late studying, give me a call. I'm always willing to help out a friend in need.

Al: What?

Rex: I've got access to a nice supply of study aids.

Al: You're dealing. Man, I should've known.

Rex: Whoa -- hey, Holden, relax. I'm just trying to help you out. I've got a friend with chemical connections, and he can be very accommodating.

Al: Yeah, and you hook him up with people, what, out of the kindness of your heart?

Rex: Whoa, I didn't blow the test, man, okay? Why come after me?

Al: You know, if Jessica knew about this, I bet you that she'd be happy that you got kicked out of the house.

Rex: Do you want to meet my friend or not?

Al: Not.

Rex: Right. I mean, why keep wasting your parents' money, right? Your dad's broke, so if you drop out, you can save him the tuition.

Todd: Told you I'd be back.

Mitch: Yes, I've been waiting with bated breath.

Todd: Yeah. So, what is going on with you and the old man?

Mitch: You know, I'm surprised you're not sharing my accommodations, considering you shot Cristian Vega.

Todd: Yeah, but that was an accident.

Mitch: Oh, come on, Mr. Manning, give yourself credit. You clearly have a murderous streak.

Todd: Yeah, that's why I killed Victor Lord.

Mitch: How fortuitous.

Todd: See, that's what I'm talking about. See, I don't get that -- that grin. I mean, what's in this for you?

Mitch: So is he dead or not?

Todd: No, I was just kidding, but answer my question.

Mitch: If you're out on bail, how come you're not home with that beautiful wife of yours?

Todd: Victor Lord just kept yammering on about my legacy and lawyers and how you were going to take it.

Mitch: Victor Lord is a delusional old man. He's one rattle away from death. I wouldn't take anything he says too seriously.

Todd: Right. Tell you what -- you answer my question or I'll kill you before my father can die.

Victor: Victoria. Victoria.

Viki: Do you -- do you know how often I've wished this -- that I could see you one more time?

Victor: I wanted to see you, too. I love you so much.

Viki: You love me? No. Nobody who loves me could've done what you did. You wanted to kill one of my children. You wanted to take my daughter's heart. I will never, ever let you get anywhere near my daughters again. Do you hear me? Because I know exactly what you did to me, father. I remembered it all.

R.J.: Well? What do you think? Stroller has the classic style. And I think we've got everything else that you could need.

Keri: Thank you.

R.J.: Well, I knew I was going to have to get the place up to code if you two were going to stay here.

[Baby fusses]

Keri: Shh, shh, shh, shh.

R.J.: You know, I really do want you and my new granddaughter to stay here with me.

Liz: Keri -- I stopped by the hospital this morning. They told me that you took the baby home.

R.J.: Yes, Elizabeth, home here, to my home, and you weren't invited.

Liz: Honey -- look, I know what Antonio and I did was unforgivable, but that doesn't give you the right to take our child.

Keri: Mom --

Liz: There she is.

Keri: The baby -- the baby -- the baby isn't yours.

Liz: What?

Keri: Mom -- mom -- mom --

Liz: What?

Keri: It's my baby, not yours.

Liz: I don't understand --

Keri: I didn't understand, either, at first. When we did the transfer, I was already pregnant.

Liz: You mean you were already --

Keri: Already carrying Antonio's baby, yes.

[Baby fusses]

Liz: So -- my baby --

Keri: Didn't survive. Or you were never pregnant to begin with. We'll never know. But the baby -- she's mine.

Liz: Oh -- does Antonio know?

Keri: No, and he's not going to know.

Liz: What are you going to do?

Keri: I'm going to take my baby somewhere Antonio will never find us.

Cristian: Hey, Mom.

Carlotta: Cristian. Oh, my God, I was so worried about --

Cristian: Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow!

Carlotta: Oh, Mijo, I'm so sorry. Did I hurt you?

Cristian: It's okay. It's okay. I'm fine.

Carlotta: Oh -- serves you right for leaving the hospital the way you did without permission. What were you thinking about?

Cristian: Well, I had to get to Natalie. She was in danger.

Carlotta: And so were you. Why do you always have to be the hero? If anything were to ever happen to you --

Cristian: Mom, can you listen to me for a minute?

Carlotta: What? What is it?

Cristian: I want to ask you for a favor.

Carlotta: Oh, Honey, anything.

Cristian: Can Natalie and I stay with you for a while?

Jessica: Natalie.

Natalie: Jessica. Didn't know you were here.

Jessica: How are you feeling?

Natalie: Fine. I mean, let me out of the hospital, didn't they?

Jessica: Oh, right. You look really good. Oh, I don't mean as a blonde.

Natalie: Yeah, well, I'm going to get rid of it as soon as possible once I get settled.

Jessica: What do you mean?

Natalie: I'm moving out. Cristian and I are getting a new place together.

Jessica: Right now?

Natalie: When else?

Jessica: Well, it just takes time to find an apartment, right?

Natalie: No, it doesn't. Found that place with Seth, like, in two seconds.

Jessica: But it just takes time to find a really great apartment.

Natalie: Well, I guess when you live with Roxy, anyplace is nice.

Jessica: I just -- you know, I just thought that you could stay here for a bit at Llanfair until you find a really great place --

Natalie: I don't think so.

Jessica: Why not?

Natalie: Cristian and I -- we -- we just want to be alone. You know, things have been so crazy.

Jessica: But you always loved living at Llanfair. Don't you remember when you first got here?

Natalie: Yeah. Yeah, I remember. I did love it. Thought my life was going to change forever.

Victor: The world is full of sickness, Victoria. I needed to go where disease couldn't find me.

Viki: There is no such place.

Victor: But death came so close. I know you love me.

Viki: No! No, no, I do not love you. I can't even believe that you're talking to me like this --

Victor: Victoria --

Viki: As if you had never, ever done anything wrong, as if you hadn't tried to kill one of my children, as if you never laid a hand on me.

Victor: Don't you understand? I want to live forever.

Viki: I know what I understand. I understand that you wanted one of my daughters to die so that you could stick a few years on your sick, miserable life! I saw you watching when they were going to cut my Natalie's heart.

Victor: Laurence tricked me. He brought me the wrong girl.

Viki: So what! Your intentions were just as hideous. Didn't matter if it was Jessica or Natalie. You wanted to kill your granddaughter.

Victor: I needed a pure heart, the heart of a Lord.

Viki: So you would -- you would just sacrifice a child from your own family?

Victor: All families have to sacrifice, Victoria.

Viki: You know something? You are beneath contempt, and you always have been.

Victor: I don't understand.

Viki: No, no, no. You don't understand and I don't understand. Why don't you make me understand why you are what you are? Make me feel something for you beyond revulsion! Just tell me why -- why you are such a monster.

Rex: Hey! My favorite hotel guest.

[Flash groans]

Flash: What do you want?

Rex: Oh, nothing. Just stopped by to say hi.

Flash: What's your problem?

Rex: I'm hungry.

Flash: So get your own, or can't you afford it?

Rex: So, how's the hangover?

Flash: So, what, you bring me a little bit of coffee and a little bit of toast and you think we're best friends now?

Rex: Hmm -- you remember what happened at the hotel, huh? Everything that happened? You got so wasted, and, come on, Rev. Save-the-World showed up.

Flash: Then he threw you out of my room. Is this stroll down memory lane going anywhere for you? Because --

Rex: One of the rooms got ripped off last night -- one that was right by yours.

Flash: And?

Rex: These are good.

Flash: I told you -- get your own.

Gabrielle: Told you he would show up.

Al: Mom, Dad. I forgot that I was supposed to meet you here. Sorry.

Gabrielle: Well, you were probably very busy with this big exam you had today, right?

Al: Right.

Max: How'd it go?

Al: Aced it.

Carlotta: Oh, Honey, I'm sorry for the interruption. Cristian, you -- you know that I would be glad to have you stay with me.

Cristian: And what about Natalie?

Carlotta: And -- and Natalie as well, of course. You and Natalie are both always welcome in my home.

Cristian: You're sure? Because if you don't want her there --

Carlotta: No, no, no, Mijo. Look, Natalie is in your life now. I think I'd better get to know her better.

Cristian: I think you'll really like her, Mom, once you get to know her.

Carlotta: All I care about is that she makes you happy.

Cristian: Then you'll love her. See you.

Jessica: Your life did get better when you got to Llanfair. You became a Buchanan. Is that why you're moving? Are you just not happy being a part of this family anymore?

Natalie: I just need to be with Cristian, all right?

Jessica: Yeah, sure.

Natalie: What's that?

Jessica: These are our grandfather's things. This is how me and Mom found out that you were in trouble.

Natalie: By looking through some old trunk?

Jessica: You know, it was really hard for mom. She could barely keep it together.

Natalie: Okay, I didn't ask her to.

Jessica: Yeah, but she loves you, Natalie. Nothing could've stopped her. God, it was the only way we could find out what was going on, the only way we could save you!

Natalie: I guess.

Jessica: What's the matter with you? I'm the one with the psycho dad. You still have Mom and Dad. Don't you know how lucky you are?

Natalie: Excuse me. You're the lucky one, Jess neither of them could be your parent and you'd still --

Jessica: Still what?

Natalie: Nothing. I've got to pack. I got to go.

Mitch: You had your chance to kill me at the theater, and you blew it.

Todd: I know. Cristian got in the way.

Mitch: Oh, face it, Mr. Manning. You didn't care why you shot as long as you hit something or someone. You were terribly upset.

Todd: You kidnapped my wife.

Mitch: But that didn't seem to bother you nearly as much as the thought that I may have had my way with her.

Todd: Do you have any idea what you've done to my family?

Mitch: Well, considering that you were trying on planning to kill me, why should I care?

Todd: Oh, no, no, no. I'm still going to kill you.

Mitch: Yes, I'm sure you could. For all I know, you shot Cristian Vega on purpose. Perhaps you're nothing but a cold-blooded killer. What do you think?

Todd: I think I don't get you. I don't understand why you're not even the least bit upset that you're going to spend the rest of your life in prison.

Mitch: I place my faith in the Lord.

Todd: You mean Victor Lord? He told me you were going to try and do something to my family.

Mitch: Why do you care? I thought you hated the old man.

Todd: Oh, I do. But whatever plan you cooked up with Pops is not going to happen. There's no way I would ever let you hurt my family.

[Door opens]

Mitch: Watch me.

Guard: Laurence -- your lawyer's here.

Todd: Oh. Evangeline Williamson is your lawyer?

Mitch: Mm-hmm.

Evangeline: And you are?

Todd: Alan Dershowitz. Nice to meet you.

Evangeline: Should I worry about him?

Mitch: Not a bit. So, what about the documents?

Evangeline: It's all taken care of.

Mitch: Ah.

Viki: Do you have any idea at all what you did to me, that you utterly, completely, totally devastated my life?

Victor: I love you, Victoria.

Viki: No you don't love me, Father. You never loved me. Oh, for years I believed you did, and I called you father, and I loved you in return. And when you died, I honored your memory because I had no memory whatsoever of what you had done to me because my mind fractured to protect me from that secret.

Victor: What secret? What is it you think I did?

R.J.: Well, that was the club. A pipe burst.

Keri: What?

R.J.: Yeah -- well, at least they think that's what it is. Anyway, the place is underwater.

Keri: Oh, my --

R.J.: I know I said I wouldn't leave you, but --

Keri: No, no, no, no. Go. Go.

R.J.: Are you sure?

Keri: I'm sure.

Liz: I wanted a baby so much. Ever since we lost your sister --

Keri: No, don't. Don't -- don't bring her up now.

Liz: But after everything that's happened, I'm glad she's yours, Keri. Yours and Antonio's. It's the way it should be.

Keri: Nothing in this is the way it should be, Mom.

Liz: But it can be. You see that? Honey, you've been given this incredible blessing. You and Antonio can build on that.

Keri: Antonio doesn't deserve a blessing, Mom!

Liz: What, like R.J. didn't? I robbed you of the chance to know your father. You want your daughter growing up to be as angry at you as you were at me?

Keri: Antonio lied to me, and I don't want my daughter to know a father who's capable of that.

Liz: I think you're making a huge mistake.

Keri: And I think I don't care what you think!

Liz: I'm sorry, but if you don't tell him, I will.

Keri: If you tell Antonio, I will make sure you never see your granddaughter again.

[Doorbell rings]

Antonio: Liz?

Liz: Antonio.

Antonio: What's going on? Why did you bring the baby here? Why --

Liz: Because --

Antonio: Why didn't you take the baby back to our place? Why didn't you tell me that -- that Keri was released from the hospital? Are you trying to take my baby away from me?

Al: So, Mom, Dad, what's going on? I mean, why did you want to check up on me?

Max: I found you passed out in your dorm room?

Al: That was just one time, Dad, you know?

Max: You're about to flunk out?

Gabrielle: Al, your father was clearly worried, so he called me. And we're just --

Al: Look, Dad, Mom -- look, when you came in and you found me like that, okay, that -- that will never happen again, okay? Trust me. You don't have to worry about me.

Gabrielle: Well, I'm sure that -- that Max is not that worried. It's just it's a little difficult for us to not worry at all.

Max: Yeah, right. I mean --

Gabrielle: Right.

Max: We care about you. We're parents. That's what we do.

Al: Well, I understand, but I'm fine, honestly.

Gabrielle: Well, you look like you're doing better, especially after this exam you just had.

Al: Right. Right.

Max: It's not like we're here to pressure you or make you feel bad.

Al: I know, Dad.

Gabrielle: Good. Well, if there's anything that you need --

Al: Oh, Mom --

Gabrielle: Just ask us --

Al: I don't need anything. Mom, please, really --

Gabrielle: You know what? I'd like you to have this.

Al: I -- I can't.

Gabrielle: Please take it. I don't know anybody who doesn't need some extra pocket money sometimes.

Al: Thanks.

Gabrielle: Okay.

Max: Yeah --

Al: Don't worry about it, Dad. It's --

Max: No, no, no. Really, I'll be back on my feet, just like you are. And, you know, you and I, we're both going to get everything worked out.

Al: Well, I got to go. I got an appointment with one of my professors.

Gabrielle: Oh?

Al: Yeah. I'm trying to make up some of the classes that I flunked last semester.

Gabrielle: Okay.

Max: Hey, are you sure you're okay?

Al: I'm fine. I'm -- I'm fine.

Gabrielle: Max, we are just going to have to learn to start asking that question, especially since there's going to be midterm grades coming out soon to prove it.

Al: Right.

Gabrielle: Right.

Al: Midterms.

Max: I look forward to it.

Al: Great. Got to go.

Viki: You do know what I'm talking about. You can pretend you don't, but I know that you do. And I'm going to stand here until you admit everything that you did to me and why.

Victor: Victoria, I don't know.

Viki: Oh, stop it! You did this! You asked for this by coming back here, by trying to murder my daughter.

Victor: Victoria --

Viki: You know, I was so perfectly, completely happy thinking you were dead! Keeping you and all the horrible things that you did to me tucked away in a little tiny, tiny corner of my mind and getting on with my life. And I did it, Father! I got on with my life in spite of you! And I raised a family, and it is a good, decent, wonderful family -- something you don't have any understanding of at all. But that doesn't even matter now. What matters now is that you are back, and I am holding you accountable.

Victor: For what?

Viki: You are going to admit to me what you did -- every unspeakable, horrible, awful thing that you did to me night after night after night, even while you told me that you loved me.

Victor: I loved you.

Viki: You're going to admit to me what you did, and then you're going to tell me why -- why any father could do that to his child. And then I'm going to let you die!

Victor: No. Find me a heart. I'll tell you. Don't let me die.

Viki: Admit it. Don't you dare die! Admit it! Admit what you did to me!

[Monitor beeps rapidly]

[Monitor flatlines]

Troy: What's going on in here?

Viki: Dr. MacIver, I don't -- I don't know. What is it? What's wrong with him?

Troy: Something's putting too much of a strain on Mr. Lord's heart.

Liz: Antonio --

Antonio: Liz, what's going on?

Liz: I think you should speak with Keri.

Antonio: Keri, isn't there any way that --

Liz: Tell him, Keri. Tell him what's going on.

Keri: What's going on is I'm leaving Llanview.

Antonio: What? Why? I -- where -- where you going?

Keri: I'm not going to tell you, Antonio. I don't want you to know.

Antonio: But this is home. And what about your mom, and what about the baby?

Keri: My mom is taking the baby to Chicago.

Antonio: No.

Keri: That's the way it is.

Antonio: No. I am that baby's father, and you are not going to shut me out of that baby's life.

Liz: I'm not the one shutting you out, Antonio.

Antonio: Then who is?

Cristian: Hey.

Natalie: Hey. I'm so glad you're here.

Cristian: I couldn't wait to get here. Guess what -- I found a place.

Natalie: Really? Terrific. Where?

Cristian: I'll tell you later. So, are you ready?

Natalie: Yeah. Let me just put this away.

Cristian: Well, we'd better hurry up if we want to make it to Mitch's arraignment.

Natalie: Just give me a minute, okay?

Cristian: All right. All right, I'll go put this stuff in the car.

Natalie: Jess -- I'm leaving.

Jessica: I'm going to go meet with Mom and be with her for Mitch's arraignment.

Natalie: Can you do me a favor and not tell Mom that -- that I'm moving out?

Jessica: Natalie, she's going to find out sometime.

Natalie: I -- I know, but can you just wait a little while till things get a little more settled for her?

Jessica: Fine -- for her.

Natalie: Jess --

Jessica: What?

Natalie: Look, I'm not -- I'm not doing this to hurt you, okay? I just -- I need some time to myself.

Jessica: You know, I didn't choose this family, either, but it's the only one that I have. And it's pretty amazing, flaws and all.

Natalie: Yep. Yeah, it is. Could you -- could you just take care of Mom, okay?

[Monitor beeps]

Troy: Your father needs to rest right now. He's not strong enough for visitors.

Viki: You have to keep him alive.

Troy: Mrs. Davidson, I want you to know that we're working very hard to find a compatible heart for your father. I know you must love him very much.

Viki: Wanting him to live has nothing to do with loving him.

Todd: Anybody in there?

Gabrielle: Max, do you think Al's doing as well as he says he is?

Max: Oh, I want to believe him.

Gabrielle: Maybe he'll surprise us.

Max: Yeah, maybe.

Rex: See you, Al.

Al: Hey, Rex. Wait up.

Rex: Listen, have a nice time with the folks. "Gee, Mom and Dad, I'm not sleeping through my midterms. I'd never do that."

Al: You don't worry about my folks, okay?

Rex: I got to tell you, though, that's one good thing about Roxy -- she could care less about my grades.

Al: Yeah, or the fact that you're working with your friend -- the guy with the stuff, Mr. Pharmaceuticals.

Rex: Hey, I was just trying to do you a favor.

Al: Okay.

Rex: "Okay," what?

Al: Okay, give me the guy's number.

Rex: Wait -- no, I make the intros. And then, if you're serious, I'll -- I'll tell you when and where.

Al: Great. Thanks.

Antonio: If you aren't trying to keep me from my daughter, then who is?

R.J.: I am.

Antonio: Oh, you're enjoying this, aren't you, trying to keep me from my daughter?

R.J.: No, no. You see, I'm protecting my daughter. And if she doesn't see you, she can pretend that you do not exist.

Antonio: But I do exist. I am that baby's father. And if you and Liz even entertain trying to take that baby away from me, I'll throw you in jail so fast you won't know what hit you.

R.J.: Yeah, well, until then, you can get out.

Antonio: This is far from over. I'm going to do everything that I have to to keep that baby right here in Llanview.

Guard: Okay, Mr. Laurence, your arraignment's about to begin.

Mitch: Excellent news.

Evangeline: Everything's under control.

Mitch: Well, it better be.

Bo: Did Victor say anything about Laurence?

Viki: Not to me, he didn't.

Todd: Viki, yeah, it's me. Listen; when you get this message, you got to call me. You're not going to believe what Victor Lord and Mitch Laurence are up to.

Cristian: You know, we just came here to make sure that you get what you deserve.

Mitch: Oh, don't worry. I will.
