(Missing beginning--first ten minutes)

Gabrielle: Why do I need a way out of the country?

Max: When I was at the police station, I saw Hank request a warrant for your arrest.

Gabrielle: What?

Max: Yes. If you don't go now, you're going to end up back behind bars.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Hank: You don't think Max and Gabrielle killed Asa?

Bo: I think I'll know a lot more when I get that tape back.

Hank: Uh-huh. I see. Bo, are we working on the same case here?

Bo: They look too guilty, Hank.

Hank: Look, everything was dropped right in your lap.

Bo: I know. It was handed to me, you know? What -- what am I saying? We know who handed it to me.

Hank: Yeah, Asa. Look, he was suspicious about something and he had damn good reason to be.

Bo: Yeah, but he -- if he knew what they were up to, then why'd he let them do it?

Hank: Well, maybe he just wanted to get more evidence, make sure he had enough so he could put them away.

Bo: So he took poison?

Hank: Look, there were two bottles of medicine. Maybe he was confused.

Bo: Yeah, maybe.

Ludlow: Commissioner?

Bo: Ludlow, about time. What do you got?

Ludlow: Well, the real skinny on your audiotape.

Bo: And?

Ludlow: You're right. It isn't what it seems to be.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Alex: Spirit, what do you want from me? What are you trying to tell me? First you send me the cigar smoke and then the voice and now this -- this apparition. Have I done something wrong? Never mind. But I assure you I came here with the noblest of intentions to bring you -- you to your final resting place in a place that you love more than anything in the world, to do the thing that you love to do the best -- to spend money on me. Oh!

[Asa sneezes]

Alex: Oh. I don't think spirits sneeze.

Alex: You're not a ghost.

Nigel: Oh, dear.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Blair: Oh.

Todd: So I bet you wondered how he -- how he got here.

Blair: Oh, he's -- he's beautiful, isn't he? Yes, he's so happy. Yes, you are. Oh, Todd, and he smells so wonderful.

Todd: Yeah.

Blair: Oh. This is just -- hello! I thought our baby would look like -- I never dreamed it --

Todd: So this is like a dream come true, right?

Blair: Oh, I just -- I just never thought -- happy? I just never thought that it would happen, Todd, no matter how much I dreamed it. You know, every time I would close my eyes, I’d wake up and -- hi -- there wouldn't be a baby.

Todd: Yeah, but he's here now, right?

Blair: It was just like at -- at the airport. I thought I heard my baby crying and then I knew that it wasn't mine.

Todd: Yeah, but now you know that this is a real baby.

Blair: Just like I know he's not mine.

Todd: What?

Blair: I mean ours. I -- I thought it was for a minute, but -- whose is it, Todd?

-------------------------------------------------------------

Nigel: I see you found him.

Alex: "Found him"?

Nigel: Yes, you found Capt. Stuart.

Alex: Capt. Stuart? Do you think I’m blind? This man is Asa Buchanan.

Nigel: Oh, no, no, ma'am. It's Mr. Buchanan's doppelganger.

Asa: He's right.

Alex: That's your voice. That's his voice.

Asa: [Disguised voice] Oh. Oh, my. Look, ma'am -- oh, my, I really don't know who this Asa Buchanan is, but I just hear he's such a handsome dude that -- well -- you get my drift. I'm mistaken for him -- oh, my Lord -- I’d say 10, 12 times a day.

Nigel: Yes, that's what happened to me.

Alex: It did?

Nigel: Oh, yes, I saw this man, I couldn't believe my eyes. I mean, I thought my prayers had been answered that my kind and generous employer had been returned to me.

Alex: Kind and generous?

Nigel: But sadly, Capt. Stuart informed me that he was not my beloved Master Buchanan. I was very inconsolable, so much so that he agreed to take me into his employ, for which I shall be eternally grateful. Now, come along, Captain, we really must be going.

Alex: Hold it right there.

Nigel: But, madam --

Alex: You forget who you're dealing with, don't you?

Nigel: Oh, perish the thought.

Alex: Your story might be somewhat sensible to some people, but there's this little detail. Why does Capt. Jeb Stuart’s shirt cuffs -- why do they have an A.B. on them?

Nigel: Yes. I gave that shirt to Capt. Stuart as a token from my former --

Asa: [Normal voice] Forget it, Nigel. You got me.

Alex: I knew it. If you're Asa, who's in there?

-------------------------------------------------------------

Nora: Hello, Troy. Lindsay.

Sam: Troy, I'm so glad I ran into you. I've been wanted to talk to you.

Troy: Well, actually, we're in the middle of dinner here.

Sam: I'm sorry, but this will only take a minute.

Lindsay: Sam, we just got our food.

Sam: I promise to bring him back. Right back, ok?

Troy: Ok. Lindsay, please, excuse me.

Nora: Hello, Lindsay.

Lindsay: Nora.

Nora: So what are you up to?

Lindsay: What?

Nora: What are you up to?

Lindsay: I don't know what you mean.

Nora: You're having dinner with a man you just recently tried to smother.

Lindsay: Oh, I did not.

Nora: So what are you doing with him?

Lindsay: Well, not that it's any of your business, but I'm helping him with a fundraiser for his clinic.

Nora: Oh, God, that's a good one. That really is. I think that's the best one you've come up with ever.

Lindsay: You know what, Nora? I really don't care if you don't believe me.

Nora: Well, clearly, if you're going to keep making up such lies.

Lindsay: Anyway, what do you care what I'm doing with Troy? You're not interested in him. Or are you?

-------------------------------------------------------------

Sam: I thought you and I had an understanding, Troy.

Troy: An understanding?

Sam: Mm-hmm.

Troy: I'm not sure what you're talking about. Maybe you could refresh my memory.

Sam: Refresh your memory -- isn't that your new specialty?

Troy: This is about Nora, is that it?

Sam: Yes, it is. What did you think you were doing?

Troy: I was doing what Nora wanted me to do. I was giving her back her memories.

Sam: By experimenting on her brain? By treating her with who knows what?

Troy: Look, Sam, Nora came to me.

Sam: Because you're a doctor. Because she trusts you.

Troy: And, apparently, you don’t.

Sam: You convinced her to lie to me, Troy.

Troy: Ok, look. Whatever Nora wants to tell you or does not want to tell you, that's Nora’s business.

Sam: When it risks her life, it's my business.

Troy: I wasn't risking her life. I was giving her back her life.

Sam: But she has a life.

Troy: And that's great. And now she has her memories. And if she'd let me try again, then maybe she could regain some more memories.

Sam: No, no, absolutely not.

Troy: What is it, Sam, huh? What are you so afraid of? You afraid that I can give Nora something that you can't?

-------------------------------------------------------------

Jessica: Can I forgive you?

Seth: I'm so sorry for everything I did.

Jessica: You know, I've never had anybody do this to me before. I've never had anybody try to pretend to be my boyfriend. Or try and steal everything I have.

Seth: You're right. What can I say? I don't deserve your forgiveness.

Jessica: A week ago, I would've told you you're right. I would've told you there's no way. I actually did, right? Every time I looked at you, I couldn't stop thinking of that day. You know, I couldn't stop thinking about what Natalie told me -- you never really cared about me. You only cared about her. You did everything for me because she told you to.

Seth: And I wish I could take all that back.

Jessica: I know, and you did.

Seth: What?

Jessica: You came to New York. You helped me, you helped Cristian, and you didn't do that because you cared about Natalie. You did that because you cared about me. So every time I look at you, that's what I think now.

Seth: So does that mean --

Jessica: Yeah. Yeah, I can forgive you.

Seth: Jess -- that means so much. That means more to me than anything. And if you can forgive me –

-------------------------------------------------------------

Todd: You -- you had said that the baby was ours.

Blair: Todd, I'm not going crazy again. I know that he's not. I -- I was just hoping.

Todd: Right, you were hoping that the baby was ours.

Blair: But know that he's not. When Paloma came and told us that our son was dead, it -- it really burned into my heart. And it was the worst day of my life, Todd, and I never would've made it through if it weren't for you.

Todd: Right, but now -- I mean, you're over that, right?

Blair: Because you have shown me everything I do have -- you and Starr, and that's all I need.

Todd: Ahem. Blair --

Blair: And as adorable as this baby is, he -- he's not mine. He's somebody else's.

Todd: Blair --

Blair: Whose is he, Todd?

Todd: This is our baby.

Blair: Our baby?

Todd: Yeah.

Blair: But I thought our baby died.

Todd: No. He didn’t.

Blair: Well, why did Paloma say he died?

Todd: Ok, when I found out that you were having Max’s baby, I freaked out a little bit.

Blair: But why did Paloma say he died?

Todd: See, I -- I really wanted it to just be you and me and Starr.

Blair: But why did Paloma say he died?

Todd: And then when you said that you still wanted to have a baby -- well, Max’s baby, I knew that there was really only one thing left for me to do.

Blair: Why did Paloma say he died?

Todd: I told her to say that.

Blair: What?

Todd: I -- I told her to say that.

Blair: You let me think that my baby died?

[Baby cries]

Todd: Yeah, but then I brought it back. See? No harm, no foul. And now look, we can go on and live happily ever after, right?

Blair: I hate you, Todd. I hate you. I'm going to take this baby and Starr, and we're going to leave, and you're never going to see us again. Whose baby is it?

Todd: He's yours.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Gabrielle: I can't go back to prison, especially for something I didn't do.

Max: Gabrielle, they're watching.

Gabrielle: But I didn't kill Asa.

Max: They have evidence that makes it look like you did.

Gabrielle: What evidence?

Max: You had him cremated.

Gabrielle: I wasn't thinking straight.

Max: He changed his will right before he died.

Gabrielle: Max, I didn't know anything about that.

Max: Well, they think you did and that's why we don't have any time to lose. We have to get you to the airport.

Gabrielle: No, no, no, wait, wait -- where am I going to go? I don't have a ticket.

Max: Yes, you do. It's back at the house. We have to hurry.

Gabrielle: This is ridiculous. I can't leave Al.

Max: He can visit.

Gabrielle: No, I have to go to him and say good-bye to him.

Max: You can’t.

Gabrielle: Why can't I?

Max: Because he thinks you're guilty. He thinks we both are. Better face it, Gabrielle -- our son would go straight to the police.

Gabrielle: How could this happen?

Max: We don't have time to think about it. Let's go.

Gabrielle: Wait.

Max: What?

Gabrielle: Don't they think that you did it, too? What if there's a warrant out for your arrest, as well?

Max: Don't worry about it.

Gabrielle: There is, isn't there? There's a warrant for your arrest, and if I leave, they're going to send you to prison.

Max: You got to go. We got to get you --

Gabrielle: No, why would you do this for me?

Max: You've already sacrificed enough. You went to prison to protect Al. You're not going to be locked up behind bars so you never see him again.

Gabrielle: But that means you're going to get locked away.

Max: No, no. Not right away.

Gabrielle: Max --

Max: Don't -- look, I’ll get a good lawyer. We'll drag it out, ok? Give me time to find the killer. When I do, you can come back, come back to Al.

Gabrielle: But what if you don't find the killer? I'm never going to see Al again, and you're going to be in prison. And I'll never see you again!

-------------------------------------------------------------

Ludlow: Your hunch was right. The tape was spliced.

Hank: Somebody put this tape together?

Ludlow: But with enhancements, you can clearly hear the background noise changes at several intervals. It doesn't follow a natural progression.

Bo: Thanks, Ludlow.

Ludlow: Anytime.

Hank: Yeah, thanks. All right, what are you thinking?

Bo: I'm thinking I want to hear exactly where all those intervals are.

[Tape plays]

Gabrielle’s voice: No one would ever suspect that Asa’s death was anything more than a tragic twist of fate. After all, accidents do happen.

Max's voice: Yes, they do.

Gabrielle's voice: Then shall we?

Max's voice: Yes, I say we kill Asa tonight.

[Tape stops]

Hank: Unbelievable.

Bo: There's at least four different conversations in there. We don't even know what they were really talking about.

Hank: And you don't think that Gabrielle and Max actually wanted to kill Asa?

Bo: No, I think they wanted to. I just don't think that they actually did.

Hank: And the real murderer made the tape?

Bo: Possibly.

Hank: Who else?

Bo: Someone who -- he or she thought that they could get away with it. See, they knew Max and Gabrielle were having an affair. They knew that they'd be a lot happier with Asa out of the way. And it's also someone who wanted to see those two punished for Asa’s death.

Hank: But who?

-------------------------------------------------------------

Alex: So do you know what's going on in Llanview? Everyone thinks you're dead.

Asa: So what? That is what they all wanted.

Alex: Bo was so upset. I tried to comfort him in his time of need.

Asa: Now, there's a fate worse than death.

Alex: How could you say such a terrible thing? Especially about your son, who thinks you were murdered!

Asa: Are you kidding me? Who does he think did it?

Alex: Max and Gabrielle. That's what everybody thinks.

Asa: You don't say.

Alex: But they couldn't be guilty of murdering someone who's still alive, could they?

Asa: Ahem. Says who?

Alex: Says me. I guess I'll have to do something about that.

Alex: Hello, is Bo Buchanan there?

Bo: This is Bo Buchanan. Who's this?

-------------------------------------------------------------

Blair: What do you mean, Todd, that this baby's mine?

Todd: I mean that he's yours.

Blair: Please -- please, just don't joke, all right?

Todd: I'm not joking.

Blair: No, Todd, I -- I can't take it, all right? Don’t.

Todd: I -- I mean -- I didn't mean that he's yours. I mean, I did, but what I mean when I say that he's yours is that he's yours now.

Blair: What?

Todd: Well, he's got another mother in another town, but the mother didn't want him.

Blair: Oh. Oh, what about the father?

Todd: I -- yeah, the father wasn't interested. So, so, so -- here he is.

Blair: What are you talking about?

Todd: The woman gave me the baby.

Blair: Todd -- some woman just gave you this beautiful baby?

Todd: Yeah. And that's what I mean when I say that the baby's yours. She gave him to me, and I'm giving him to you. That's your wedding present.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Jessica: What are you doing?

Seth: Nothing. I mean, I thought you said you forgave me.

Jessica: Yeah -- yeah, I forgave you, but that doesn't mean you can kiss me.

Seth: I'm sorry. You just said that you understood that I cared for you, and I wanted to show you --

Jessica: Well, yeah, I understand that you care for me, but that doesn't mean we can start where we left off.

Seth: I'm sorry.

Jessica: It -- it's ok.

Seth: We can still be friends, though, right?

Jessica: Seth, I can't be your friend. Or anything else.

Seth: Guess that was too much to hope for.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Natalie: Hey, Jessica. When did you get back?

Jessica: A little while ago.

Natalie: Did you have a good trip?

Jessica: Yeah. It was ok.

Natalie: Well, how was it visiting Clint? I mean, my father?

Jessica: It was good. Yeah, it was good. You know, he's my father and he always will be.

Natalie: Is that what he told you?

Jessica: Yeah. It was.

Natalie: What did he say about me?

Jessica: Nothing. I'm sorry about that.

Natalie: Nothing at all?

Jessica: No.

Natalie: Well, he'll have something to say soon enough.

Jessica: What do you mean?

Natalie: Well, while you were off visiting my father, I've been busy, very, very busy. Hmm.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Nora: I am not interested in Troy that way.

Lindsay: Yes, you are. Or you wouldn't be pulling that Nora thing.

Nora: What -- what Nora thing?

Lindsay: You have to have every man in the world interested in you.

Nora: Oh, for goodness sake. So Troy’s interested in you?

Lindsay: Well, why not? He's a single man; I’m a single woman.

Nora: Well, you're right about the biologic and you got the marital status on your side, too.

Lindsay: And we have a lot in common.

Nora: Well, what -- does he think I broke up your marriage, too?

Lindsay: We both appreciate art.

Nora: Well, clearly, you're a perfect match.

Lindsay: Sam believes so.

Nora: What?

Lindsay: Well, what else do you think that Sam is talking to Troy about?

-------------------------------------------------------------

Sam: You honestly think you can give Nora something I can't?

Troy: You can't give her her memories back, Sam.

Sam: True. But I can help her make new ones.

Troy: And that's great. But they don't replace the ones that she's lost. Do you even care what she remembered?

Sam: Of course I care, Troy. I love the fact that she can remember Matthew’s birth. I love the fact that she remembers the first years of his life.

Troy: She also regained some memories about you, Sam.

Sam: And I love that, too. But as great as that is I'd give it up. And it would spare her the pain of these horrible things she's gone through.

Troy: You mean the things that Lindsay did.

Sam: Yeah. Listen, Troy, Nora and I love each other. She and Matthew and I have a great future ahead of us. That's the direction we want to go -- forward, not backwards. That's a decision Nora has made, as well.

Troy: I know that. I think it's an unfortunate decision, but I do recognize that it's Nora’s decision to make. Apparently, you don’t. If you'll excuse me, I have someone waiting for me.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Blair: How did -- how did you find a baby?

Todd: That's where I went when I left Llanview.

Blair: To find a baby?

Todd: You said you wanted a baby, so I went looking for one and, well, I found him.

Blair: Wait -- what do you mean you found him?

Todd: He's perfect, isn't he? I mean, I wanted a baby that was roughly the same age of what -- well, the other baby -- how old the other baby would've been -- and I wanted a boy because, you know, Starr said that she always wanted a little brother. I think I did pretty good, don't you think?

Blair: You did this for me?

Todd: Yeah.

Blair: I don't know what to say, Todd.

Todd: Well, then say that everything's ok now. And say hi -- say hi to your son.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Jessica: What have you been busy with?

Natalie: I've been talking to my lawyer. He's already started the proceedings, and pretty soon I’m going to have everything that belongs to you -- oh, excuse me -- everything you stole from me.

Jessica: Oh. Ok.

Natalie: Didn't you hear me? I'm going to take everything -- all your money, everything.

Jessica: Fine.

Natalie: Don't you care?

Jessica: No.

Natalie: You are such a liar! Of course you care!

Jessica: Uh-uh. I don’t. Because you can't really take anything that really matters to me. I mean, I have my mother's love. I have my father's love. I have my brothers' love. I've got a lot of friends who love me. And you don't have any of that. That is why you're unhappy. It's not because you don't have money. It's because you don't have any love. And without that, you don't have anything.

Natalie: You're wrong, Jessica. I'm going to have everything. Everything.

Natalie: Hello, is this the break bar? Yeah, has Seth Anderson come in yet? Yes. That's all I wanted to know.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Max: Don't be so melodramatic.

Gabrielle: Max --

Max: You missed your calling. You should've been an actress.

Gabrielle: Please, be serious.

Max: I am being serious. We will see each other again, I promise.

Gabrielle: How?

Max: I'll clear you. I'll clear us both. I promise.

Gabrielle: But you said it. They've got so much evidence against us.

Max: I like a challenge.

Gabrielle: I can't let you do this for me. I can't let you go to jail.

Max: I'm never letting you go to jail ever again.

Gabrielle: Max --

Max: End of discussion. You're going now.

Gabrielle: All right. I'll go.

Max: Thank you.

Gabrielle: But you're going to come with me.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Bo: Who is this?

Alex: Bo.

Bo: Hello? Hello?

[Dial tone]

Hank: What was that?

Bo: I'm not really sure. Hank, if somebody wanted to frame Max and Gabrielle, that person would gain something if they were found guilty of murder.

Hank: Well, that stands to reason.

Bo: They didn't have any money. It was all Pa's.

Hank: I thought he left it all to Gabrielle.

Bo: Yeah, but he just had a new will drawn up, see? And if Gabrielle was guilty of murder --

Hank: Yeah, then the earlier will would go into effect.

Bo: Yeah, and I'm sure that will would've been much more generous to someone else.

Hank: But who?

Bo: I don't know, but I have an idea.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Alex: What did you stop me for? If I don't tell Bo you're alive, he's going to arrest Max and Gabrielle for a murder they never committed. Oh. I get it. I can't believe I didn't see this before.

Asa: See what?

Alex: You want everybody to believe that you're dead.

Asa: Are you loco?

Alex: Max and Gabrielle betrayed you, so you felt like you needed them to pay for it.

Asa: I'm going to have Nigel call the men in white jackets, take you away.

Alex: And it's going to be so hard to do that when they find out that you're alive.

Asa: You have really flipped, Alex. I ought to send you back to the nut house.

Alex: Oh, you're right. I probably should go back to the nut house. But of course, first I’ll have to stop in Llanview and tell everyone what I know because I couldn't possibly live with myself if I didn’t.

Asa: So what's it going to take to keep you quiet?

Alex: Where do I begin?

-------------------------------------------------------------

[Phone rings]

Sam: Excuse me. Hello? Jen? What's wrong? Ok, I'll be right there.

Nora: Is everything all right?

Sam: I'm not sure.

Nora: Is it --

Sam: I'm just not --

Lindsay: Sam? Is Jea ok?

Nora: Does NASA know about your supersonic hearing?

Lindsay: What happened?

Sam: She's fine. She's back from New York.

Lindsay: Why is she back so early?

Sam: Well, apparently there's been some kind of trouble.

Lindsay: Well, what kind of trouble?

Sam: I don't know. I'm going to find out. I'm going to meet her at the train station right now.

Lindsay: Ok, I'm going to go with you. We can do this another time.

Sam: No, Lindsay --

Troy: Absolutely.

Sam: Lindsay, I don't think it's a good idea. She wasn't very happy to see you the last time she saw you.

Lindsay: Sam, I can fix that.

Troy: You know what, Lindsay? I'll pick up the check. Don't worry about the check.

Lindsay: Thank you. What are we waiting for? Let's go!

Nora: I'm fine.

Sam: Nora, I'm sorry.

Nora: No, I can get myself home. It's ok. I'll walk out with you. Come on.

Sam: All right.

Troy: I got a wish I wouldn't mind coming true. Maybe more than one.

Nora: Ok, Dr. MacIver, what exactly are you doing with Lindsay Rappaport?

-------------------------------------------------------------

Blair: He's not my son.

Todd: Oh, no, no. Wait, wait, hold on. Technically, no, maybe not, but I talked to the mother, and she's fine with the whole idea.

Blair: Oh, somebody just -- she just gave him up?

Todd: Well, no, I mean, I had to offer her a free subscription to "The Sun," but -- look. I think he likes me.

Blair: Here. I can tell. There you go. I can’t.

Todd: Can't what?

Blair: I can't, Todd.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

>> Stay tuned for scenes from the next "One Life to Live."

>> On the next "One Life to Live" --

Sam: Why was he after Cristian in the first place? Antonio: Because of R.J. Gannon.

Jessica: Why did you switch me and Natalie when we were babies?

Natalie: I hate seeing you like this.   Seth: Then don't look.

Nora: Why are you holding hands with Lindsay Rappaport?
