One Life to Live Transcript Friday 12/7/01 By Suzanne >> Previously on "One Life to Live" -- Antonio: He's been trying to save your life from this creep all along. Nigel: But I thought we were going to keep a low profile. After all, you are supposed to be dead. Blair: Where is my husband-to-be? Kelly: He was here a few minutes ago. Todd: You know, I look at you, and I don't know how I ever managed to tell your mother that you were dead. ****************************************** Todd: Gabrielle, I know that you're a little dense, so I'm only going to say this once -- Gabrielle: Todd, I'm not in the mood. Todd: I'll say it slowly for you, but I’m only going to say it once. The first time that Blair and I tried to get married for the fourth time, I screwed it up. The second time that Blair and I tried to get married for the fourth time, she screwed it up. Now, you mess up things this time around and I'm going to see to it that you're in a whole pile of pain. Now, get out of here. Gabrielle: Are you finished? Good, good. Because do you think that Blair’s going to be happy to say "I do" when she finds out that you set her up for Asa’s murder? ********************* Cristian: Jen? Jen: Hi. Cristian: I got to wake up. Jen: No, it's ok. Cristian: It's just a dream. It's just a dream. Jen: No, it's not. We're in the emergency room. Cristian: It's not a dream? Jen: No. You fought that Keith Schaeffer guy, remember? He hit you pretty hard. Cristian: Antonio. Jen: Yes, Antonio and the cops -- they showed up and they arrested him. Cristian: Oh. I'm glad you're ok. You're so beautiful. Jen: I just wanted to make sure you were ok. You saved my life. I don't understand why you helped me. I didn't think you wanted anything to do with me. But I just wanted you to know that I’m very grateful to you. Thank you. Cristian: Jen -- I never meant to hurt you. It was all a lie. Will you forgive me? ********************* Hank: Max, is there something I can help you with? Max: Yeah. Yeah, yeah. See, I thought I could provide you with my own personal input as to what I think might have happened in Asa’s death. Hank: Well, Max, that would be great. I'll tell you what -- here. Why don't you just take a walk with me? Come over here and have a seat, and I would love to have your input. I'll get you a pen, I'll get you a pad, and you can jot down all your ideas. And we'll talk soon, ok? Have a seat. Thanks. I'll be back. ********************* Hank: Hey, how's it going? Bo: Hey. I want you to check this out. [Tape plays] Max’s voice: Yes, they do. Gabrielle's voice: Then shall we? Max's voice: Yes, I say we kill Asa tonight. [Tape stops] Bo: Did you hear that? Hank: Yeah -- Max and Gabrielle planning Asa’s murder, same as before. [Bo sighs] Hank: Why, did you hear something else? Bo: I don't know. I think we better get an audio guy in here because we could have a big problem. ********************* Alex: Captain, what are you doing here? I -- I must have the wrong room. Man: Au contraire, lovely lady. You definitely have the right room. Alex: Capt. Stuart, your first mate is waiting. ********************* Gabrielle: Let's just remember one thing -- it was your idea to get Blair’s signature on the receipt of the medication, the poison that killed Asa. Todd: So what? Gabrielle: And now you continue to print headline after headline accusing Max and me of this murder? Todd: You know "The Sun" with your picture on the cover? It's flying off the newsstands. I would think you'd be flattered. Gabrielle: Would you like me to go to the police and tell them who really killed Asa? Todd: Yeah, sure, right after you tell me. Gabrielle: You know who did it, Todd -- you did. We both know. Todd: Hmm. The only thing I know is that you're nuts. Now, I got something I -- what was I doing? Oh, right. You need to buzz off. ********************* Viki: Well, it's quite a day, isn't it? Cassie: Yes. I just hope that Blair’s not pushing it so soon after losing her baby. She still has to be getting over that. ********************* [Baby cries] ********************* Gabrielle: You killed Asa. Todd: Why would I kill Asa? Gabrielle: Because you hated him. Todd: I hate just about everybody. Gabrielle: Yeah, and you found a perfect way to punish Blair, and so you went for it. Todd: No, I didn't. Gabrielle: Yeah, but then your gun-slinging girlfriend and yourself decide to get back together again, so then you decide to pin it on Max and me. Todd: What happened to the plan that you had before about pinning the whole thing on Max? What happened to that? Gabrielle: I changed my mind. Todd: Really? Why? Oh, no. You're in love with him again? Gabrielle: Whom I love or don't love is not the point. Todd: Wow, you are way under the radar when it comes to brains. Gabrielle: Look, if you think that Max and I are going to let you frame us for a murder that we did not commit, you are sadly mistaken. Todd: There's an echo coming from your empty head. Gabrielle: And if you keep this up, I will be forced to tell Blair that her hubby-to-be conspired to send her to Statesville. Todd: That's a good one. How about this one? How about I tell Max that you and Asa conspired to send him to jail for the rest of his life for something he didn't do? Gabrielle: Well, that's fine because he knows all about it. It's ancient history. Todd: Really? Ancient history? Gabrielle: Mm-hmm. Todd: Why don't we call him, huh? Why don't we give him a call, see what he has to say about it now? You know his number? Gabrielle: Don't call Max. ********************* Andrew: Excuse me, Starr. Do you by any chance know where your mommy and daddy are? Starr: I don't know where my mom is, but my dad's outside talking with this weird lady who talks funny. Andrew: Talking with the weird lady? Cassie: Starr, you look so grown-up. Don't forget you have a play date tonight with River. Starr: It's not a play date. I'm staying overnight. Cassie: Oh. [Cassie sighs] Andrew: You look wonderful. Cassie: Thank you. You look pretty good, too, Reverend. Kelly: The groom seems to have disappeared and the bride is nowhere to be found. Let's just hope this wedding doesn't turn out like their last two tries. ********************* [Baby cries] ********************* Addie: Blair, there you are! Oh, Blair, I’m so happy for you! Blair: Oh, you came, Mama! Addie: Of course I came. I had to come. It's your wedding day. When I told the Sisters it was your wedding day, they all got excited, too. I'm so, so happy you're going to finally marry Todd again. Blair, are you all right? Blair: Um -- I don't know, Mama. Addie: You're not going to call the wedding off again? Blair: No, I'm definitely getting married to Todd. It's -- it's just that i thought I heard something, a baby crying. Addie: I think -- i think that must have been me. Blair: What? Addie: I've been crying with joy. Just ask Sister Louisa. Blair: I don't know, Mama. I heard a baby crying, and I -- I could've sworn that it came from right there. ********************* Gabrielle: All right, Max doesn't know all the details of all the plans I had with Asa. Todd: Aha. Lucky you. Gabrielle: For pity's sake, Todd, it never materialized, so what's the big deal? Todd: Gee, I don't know. You know, if I were under suspicion for murder and I found out that my honey bunch was planning this great -- Gabrielle: If you tell Max any of this, I will be forced to tell Blair every single detail of what you had planned for her. Todd: Well, then, we're at a stalemate, aren't we? Gabrielle: If you say so. Todd: We are. Give me back my phone. Gabrielle: With pleasure. Todd: I've got stuff on you and you've got stuff on me. Now, we can't get each other without getting ourselves. Viki: Hmm. Gabrielle. What was all that about getting each other? Viki: A rather interesting conversation to walk in on, hmm? What is all this getting each other, hmm? Todd: Getting each other wedding presents. Gabrielle: Hmm. Viki: Wedding presents? Todd: That's right. Viki: My, my, my. Well, Gabrielle, that's fast, isn't it? Asa's barely cold in his grave, and you're planning the next one? Gabrielle: Oh, I think Todd is mistaken, as he very often is. Trust me, Viki; I won't be marrying anyone anytime soon. Viki: Trust you? When hell freezes over. Todd: Ok, Sis, no fighting. You'll get your party dress all dirty. Go inside, find Blair, make sure she's ready, and I’ll take care of Cruella here. Gabrielle: Ahem. Viki: Well, don't keep Blair waiting, all right? Todd: Mm-hmm. Viki: This one is not worth it. Todd: Ok, we're done. I didn't kill Asa. I'm not trying to set you up or Max. Gabrielle: Uh-huh. And I'm supposed to believe this just because you say it's so? Todd: Well, for one thing, I was in Mexico losing a baby. Gabrielle: Blair lost the baby, dear, not you. Todd: I was the father. Gabrielle: Oh, really? Todd: If someone's setting you up, it's not me. Now, good-bye. Gabrielle: Now, if I hear that you're lying, I will tell Blair every single little detail. But you have a lovely wedding, darling. Just remember I can destroy it all for you. Todd: You make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. ********************* Cassie: Any luck? Viki: Well, Todd’s on his way in. Was Blair up in her room? Cassie: No. Somebody said that she was outside? Viki: Whatever for? Cassie: I have no idea, and it's cold out there. I – ********************* Sam: You seem ok with it. Ben: Yeah, well, I didn't really get to know him that well and, what I did know, I didn't really like. Sam: Well, a lot of people seem to really care about him, people like Renee and Nora. Ben: Yeah. Sam: Which means there had to be sides to Asa Buchanan we never had a chance to see. Ben: Well, if Renee saw something in him, then it had to be there. Sam: But, still, it's got to be hard, realizing you're never going to get a chance to see those sides, you know, to get to know him better. Ben: Would've been nice. There's nothing I can do about it now. I can't bring him back. Sam: No, that's for sure. Ben: I just hope Bo can prove who killed him. ********************* Bo: Did you hear that? It's the background noise. See, it's different on almost every phrase. Can't you hear that? Hank: No. [Tape winds] Bo: You have to ignore what they're saying and just listen to the background noise. Hank: What background noise? Bo: It's subtle. Hank: Or maybe it's just your imagination. Bo: Well, that could be. Hank: All right, I’ll tell you what -- why don't we just do what you want to do, and we'll call this young kid in -- what's it, Jones? Have him analyze it. Bo: No, no, no. I think this is way over his head. I think we need a real pro, like Ludlow, somebody that can authenticate this tape before we execute those warrants. ********************* Alex: Capt. Stuart, where are you? Nigel: Sir -- thank goodness. I wish you hadn't disappeared so quickly. That ancient harpy wouldn't let me leave the bar. Asa: That old lady was a piece of work, wasn't she? But believe me, Nigel, she's nothing compared to the real harpy next door. Nigel: And I repeat, Sir, trying to get rid of your next-door neighbor -- Asa: Is a damn good idea. And I'm going to do it, I don't care what. Nigel: Is there a problem, Sir? Asa: Oh. My sunglasses -- I left them in the bar. Nigel: Oh, no, sir. No, I won't face Madam Medusa again. Fire me if you must. Asa: I'm going to tell you something -- if I didn't have to play dead, I would close this damn resort down today. Nigel: All in good time, Sir. I'll see to your room. [Alex screams] [Nigel screams] [Alex and Nigel scream] ********************* Antonio: Al? You ok? Al: Yeah, yeah. I'm just -- I'm just happy that Cristian's ok. Antonio: Yeah, well, all the tests came back negative, so he should be fine. Al: Jen is really worried about him. I mean, this whole thing -- it was really weird, you know? We don't know anything that's going on here. Antonio: Well, Cris -- Cris will explain when he can. ********************* Jen: No, Cristian. Nobody's lying, ok? Cristian: Yes, yes. Jen: No. Cristian: It was all a lie. Jen: You had a fight. You had a -- you took a blow to the head. Cristian: Jen, you got to forgive me. Jen: Anything as long as you quit trying to get up, ok? Cristian: Oh, what a headache. Jen: Just lay down. Cristian: Oh. Jen: I can't believe you risked your life to save me after you said that you didn't care about me at all. Cristian: I do care about you, Jen. It was all a lie. I love you. I loved you all along. Breaking up with you and hurting you like that was the hardest thing I've ever done. Jen: I don't understand. Cristian: I didn't have a choice, Jen. This guy, Keith Schaeffer -- he was trying to hurt you to get to me. I had to make him think I didn't care. But how I really felt never changed. And it never will change. I love you. ********************* Kelly: Was Blair out back? Viki: No. I mean, she has to be upstairs. Cassie: I must've just missed her. Viki: Yeah. Did Todd come back in? Ben: I haven't seen him. I thought he was outside. Viki: He was. Sam: Is he ok? Viki: I don't know. It depends on what your definition of "ok" is when it concerns Todd. Sam: Good point. Todd: Ok, no more interruptions. Where's Blair? Cassie: Well, we thought she was upstairs, but she wasn't. Kelly: But she's changed, so what's taking so long? What's up there? Cassie: Listen, why don't I go upstairs and -- Todd: No, no, no, no, no. I'll -- I'll go. Todd: Where you been? Blair: I -- I thought I heard crying, a baby crying, and I -- I went to where the sound was, and -- I'm sorry, Todd, but we can't get married. ********************* Alex: Nigel, what are you doing here? Nigel: I'm on holiday, Madam. Alex: Nigel, your idea of a holiday is standing in the sunshine while you drink your prune juice. What are you really doing here? Nigel: Luxuriating on a tropical isle? Alex: I happen to know that Jeb Stuart -- Capt. Jeb Stuart-- is staying in this suite. Are you here with him? Nigel: Uh -- no, Madam. I work for him. Alex: Oh. That's wonderful. I've been dying to meet him. Nigel: Oh, yes. Well, now is not the best of times. In fact, it's the worst of times. He's -- oh, he's terribly out of sorts today. Alex: Oh, well -- Nigel, please. You know how good I am at turning a man's mood from sour to sweet. So, where do you think this Capt. Stuart is? Do you think perhaps he's at the bar? Let's go see. Nigel: No, no, Madam. He's -- he's in the manager's office taking a call from his wife. Alex: Oh, he's married. But he couldn't be happily married, or she would be here, right? I love a challenge. I tell you what. I'll call downstairs and we'll order some bubbly to surprise him when he comes up, shall we? Nigel: No, no, no, no. Madam, the challenge for you won't be Capt. Stuart's marriage. You see, he's rather wanting in the looks department. His visage -- oh, it's so unpleasant. No, one might say repellent. Alex: Oh. Well, you know, looks aren't that important to me, Nigel -- not when a man is a man of means and accomplishments. Nigel: But he's also gay. Alex: Gay? Well, I'll have you know I have changed the predilections of more than one boy's man. Nigel: Really? Alex: Yes. They love my colorful past. You know, the fact that I was in the mob and I was the mayor and I was a chanteuse and I've done a lot of undercover work. Nigel: Yes, I imagine you have, Madam. But the captain is also bankrupt. Alex: Oh. Well, that changes everything. Wait a minute. What are you doing here, then? Nigel: You know, loyalty. Although my employment was short-term, I didn't feel I could summarily abandon such a gay, happily married, bankrupt troll. But enough about me. You know, we have got to get you out of here. Alex: To think I almost wasted all my talents on someone who was so unworthy. But, you know, this is a very interesting coincidence, don't you think? Do you know why I am down here? Nigel: No, madam. Alex: I am down here to scatter Asa’s ashes. And who do I run into? His most trusted servant. Huh. Would you like to be with me when I do it? Nigel: Oh, absolutely, Madam. What a brilliant idea. But it'll just have to be a little later. Let's say in an hour's time? Alex: Oh, that's fine. I'm in the suite next door. Nigel: Next -- you're in the suite next door? Alex: Yes. Why? Nigel: Oh, nothing. No reason. I'm going to see you in an hour, Madam. Alex: Oh, good. I'll look forward to it. It'll be like old times. Nigel: Yes. Oh. Get me the bar. Yes, I need to speak to Capt. Stuart immediately. He's not there? Oh, my heavens. Well, I’ve got to find him! ********************* Max: There you are. I've been worried about you. Gabrielle: You do look worried. But then again, I probably do, as well. Max: Yeah, what's wrong? Gabrielle: Well, everything's wrong. Todd is not behind what's been happening to us. Max: You -- Gabrielle: I was wrong. Max: You sure? Gabrielle: Absolutely positive. Max: Why? Gabrielle: Well, first off, he wasn't even in the country when Asa died. Second, he doesn't care about Asa’s death. And -- Max what is it? What's happened here? Max: We're in real big trouble. ********************* Man: Commissioner, I wouldn't want to call this by ear. I want to take this to the lab. Hank: You think there's something strange with the tape? Man: I'll tell you as soon as I can be definite. Bo: All right, well, time is crucial, Ludlow. I mean, we need an answer yesterday. Ludlow: I hear you. ********************* Cristian: I had to make Keith Schaeffer think that I didn't care about you. That way he wouldn't try to hurt you to get to me. Jen: So -- so you did all that just to protect me? Cristian: I'd do anything to keep you safe, Jen. You got to know that. I mean, this guy -- he's a stone cold killer. Jen: You were so mean to me -- that look in your eyes and all those things that you said to me. Cristian: I know. And when I saw it was tearing your heart out, I almost couldn't go through with it. Jen: Why didn't you just tell me from the start? I would've gone with you to New York. Cristian: Jen, that's exactly what I couldn't do. This guy, Keith Schaeffer -- he's -- he's as sick as they get, Jen. I couldn't put you in his line of fire. I'd rather have you hate me than see you hurt. Jen: I felt like my world was ending. I tried and I tried to hate you, but -- Cristian: I know, I know. Remember this? When you threw it out, I -- I picked it up. It was all I had to hold on to. I couldn't talk to you or see you. But somehow, with that around, you were always there, right next to my heart. ********************* Todd: You saw? Blair: I went toward the door where I heard the crying, and then I ran into Mother, and she said that she was the one that was crying. Sometimes she -- she cries when she's happy Todd: So, you -- you didn't go inside -- Blair: Todd, I didn't have to because I know that I'm not over losing the baby if I’m still imagining hearing his little cries. It wouldn't be fair. Todd: What wouldn't be fair? Blair: Me marrying you when I’m still in so much pain over the baby. How could I do that? Todd: You trust me, Blair. That's how. I mean, you trusted me before when you didn't get on the airplane, right? Trust me now. Come on. Todd: All right. Come on. Let's get this over with. Addie: I'm going to be late! Shh. It's starting. Andrew: Welcome, Todd and Blair. We've been down this road before -- several times -- but -- Todd: Ok -- just stick to your piece, and then when it comes time, then, I promise, this time we'll say ours. Andrew: Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to witness and to bless the joining together of this man and this woman in holy matrimony. This holy estate is not to be entered into lightly but reverely, discreetly, advisedly, soberly, and in fear of God. Todd, Blair, if either of you know of any reason why you may not be lawfully -- Todd: Is this going to go on for much longer? Because -- well, we've heard these words a million times, and -- it may make you feel good to say them, but doesn't really mean anything to me. Andrew: Todd, if you want to speak from the heart, feel free. Todd: No, I don't have anything to say. Um -- I -- well, all right. Lately I’ve been thinking a lot. I've had a lot on my mind because -- well, I've had a lot on my mind, and -- I remember when we first met. Do you remember that, Blair? Blair: At Rodi's. How could I ever forget that? Todd: Yeah, well, it was on a bench in a park, but I -- I do remember Rodi's. Singer: Wake me up I must be dreaming I can't believe that you are real I heard somebody call us crazy they don't know what we feel and would it be too much to ask to let this moment last simply love simply love simply love Todd: And I remember, Blair, that when I met you -- well, I thought that -- that you would be somebody that I could be around. And after everything that we've been through -- well, I don't just want to be around you. I want to give myself to you, Blair. My mind. My heart. I mean, if that's what you really want. Blair: We've shared so much together. They've been my highest highs in my life and some of the lowest lows. Todd: Yeah, well, my sister's here, so maybe we should just talk about the highs. Blair: All I know is that I -- I never knew that I could be as happy as I am when I’m with you. Todd: I didn't know that I could not be nuts. When you are around, Blair, all the noise and the craziness that's in my head -- it's -- it's fixed. Look -- I know that I've hurt you, and I know that I'll probably hurt you again. Starr: No, I'm not going to let that happen. Todd: It's bound to happen, Starr. Starr: Everybody knows that. Todd: Ok, you shut up now because I'm trying to marry your mother. Blair, if I do mess up -- well, when I mess up again, I hope that you can forgive me. And I hope that you can remember that I love you. I'm done. Blair: You surprise me, Todd. You always do. You surprised me the first day I met you, and you continue to keep surprising me. Todd: I surprise you? Blair: Yeah, like -- like today. It's -- it's scary to love someone, and today the fear just kind of got the best of me. Todd: But you're here, right? Blair: This time. But sometimes I do things or say things out of fear, and it brings out all the craziness in you, and then both of us go downhill from there. That's why I’m really glad that Andrew is here with us today. Because all those beautiful words in his prayer book might not be for us, but we do need God's help. We have -- we have a gift. We have something so special that just fell right out of heaven and landed on us. Some people go through a lifetime and never have what we have. I love you. And I thank God for you and your love. Andrew: I've presided over a lot of these ceremonies. I've heard a lot of vows. These were uniquely appropriate. But, if you don't mind, I'd like to say a few traditional words. Todd: That's fine. Just hurry up. Andrew: Todd, do you take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife? Do you promise to love her, comfort her, honor and keep her, in sickness and in health, for richer, for poorer, till death do you part? Andrew: We'll get back to you on that. Blair, do you take this man to be your lawful wedded husband? Do you promise to love him, comfort him, honor and keep him, in sickness and in health, for richer, for poorer, till death do you part? Todd: Do you? Blair: Do you? ********************* Antonio: Al -- why don't you take a break? Al: I -- Antonio: No, I mean, listen. They're going to be fine. I'm here. Al: I'm -- I’m -- I'm ok. Thanks. Antonio: You sure you're all right? Al: Yeah, yeah, I'm -- I'm fine. Really. [Phone rings] Antonio: Excuse me. Officer Vega. ********************* Jen: I thought this was gone forever, that everything was lost, that you would always hate me. Cristian: Jen, I could never hate you. I'm sorry I had to hurt you. Jen: Keeping this shows me that you always cared about me. Cristian: I got a better way of showing you. ********************* Gabrielle: All right, you are frightening me. What has happened here? Max: Not here. Gabrielle: What? Max, we didn't kill Asa. Max: Well, if they've got enough trumped-up evidence against us, it doesn't matter being innocent. It won't save us. Gabrielle: So if we can't pin this on somebody like Todd, what are we going to do? I feel like a lamb being led to the slaughter. Max: Yeah, well, the first thing we do is get the hell out the slaughterhouse, ok? Gabrielle: What if we're followed? Max: Well, that's the second thing we take care of. Come on. Gabrielle: Oh. ********************* Hank: Bo, unless you want to lose the only real friend you have, you'll stop that racket. Plus it's not going to make the phone ring any sooner. Bo: Yeah, we should have heard something by now, Hank. I mean, Ludlow should've analyzed that tape by now. The guy's a pro. Hank: Well, even pros need time. What? Ok, what is it? I know you, Bo, and I know that look. What's going on? Bo: It might be too soon to say. But if my hunch is right, then this is about a lot more than just Max and Gabrielle. ********************* Asa: Oh. That stinking perfume. What the hell did she do, spray under the door? Ah, ha, ha, ha. What's the matter, Nigel? Oh, you getting lazy on me? You're not on vacation, Sweetheart. ********************* [Alex sighs] Alex: Nigel, where are you? You're over an hour late. Well, if you won't come to me, I'll have to find you. ********************* Todd and Blair: I do. Todd: Sure. Blair: Ok. Starr: Yes! Andrew: Ok. Let's try to keep with this theme of "in unison" for a while, ok? Please, help me there, Starr, will you? Ok. Repeat after me. With these rings, I thee wed. Todd and Blair: With these rings, I thee wed. Andrew: In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen. All: Amen. Starr: Amen. [Starr giggles] Andrew: And so forth and so on. By the power vested in me by the Holy Church and by the State of Pennsylvania, I now pronounce you husband and wife. There. It's done. Todd, you may kiss the bride.
