Keith: It's just a matter of time now until Cristian is long gone.

Allison: Why didn't you want Dr. Cummings to know you were here?

Gabrielle: The plan was to get you to fall in love with me again.

Asa: Why would Gabrielle double-cross me?

Todd: Unfettered access to Max.

Blair's voice: "This baby -- it's not Max's. It's your baby, Todd."

Todd: Hello? It's time for show-and-tell!

Asa: Will you lower your damn voice!

Todd: Ok.

Gabrielle: Oh, dear God, I've made so many mistakes. But all I ever wanted to do was to be with and take care of my son. I thought that giving him everything that he never had was the right thing to do. I thought that getting back at Max, making him pay, destroying him, would somehow make it all worthwhile, but I can't do it. I can't go through with it. For the first time in a long time, I don't know what to do. I don't even know what to hope for. Dear God, I'm still in love with Max. I can't destroy someone I love. Dear God, help me. Tell me what to do.

Max: And so how is Llanview’s most difficult patient today? Ok. I was going through the closet. I thought I found something that might bring back a few memories for you. Remember this? We used to go at this hours on end. I thought maybe we'd go a couple rounds; you'd give me a chance to win back the championship. No? Ok. How about a couple of these? Want to kick back, watch one of these? Hey, your favorite -- oh. No. All right. Ok. Listen, Al, you got to be bored out of your mind in here.

Al: Aren't you supposed to be getting married today to the woman who's going to give you a kid you give a damn about?

Max: Ah -- no. No, the Blair/Max nuptials are off. Right now you're all that matters to me.

Blair: Mama? Happy birthday!

Addie: Blair! I knew you wouldn't forget.

Blair: Me forget your birthday? Absolutely never. I love you so much, Mama.

Addie: And I love you. Besides, if I didn't have my birthday, then you wouldn't have your birthday.

Blair: Oh, you are just so smart. Wow! Are you making something?

Addie: Yes. Did you bring me a present?

Blair: Hmm. Now, what do you think?

Addie: Oh! Let's open it.

Blair: All right. Let me get it out.

Addie: Ooh -- this can't be my present. This is -- it has Todd's name on it. Is it Todd's birthday, too?

Blair: No, Ma. Can I have that back, please?

Addie: It looks like a letter.

Blair: Mama --

Addie: Did you write Todd a letter? What does it say?

Todd: Max here?

Asa: No. Just me and Gabrielle. But lately we don't know what is going to slither in here. And if you want to be part of this --

Todd: Hey, no, I'm already a part of this.

Asa: Then button your lip and watch your step because what we're doing ain't for amateurs.

Todd: No. Because you frame people for a living.

Asa: Manning --

Todd: What?

Asa: Shut up.

Todd: Ok.

Asa: Is that it?

Todd: This is it. This is your wife and Max doing the big nasty. Talk about reality TV.

Asa: You enjoyed yourself, huh?

Todd: It's all right. Didn't really like your camera work.

Asa: Really? Well, I wasn't aiming for an Emmy. Just as long as you could see what they're doing.

Todd: Oh, don't worry. You can definitely see what they're doing.

Asa: That's good. Any jury seeing that video will know why Max bumped me off -- sleeping with my wife behind my back.

Todd: Isn't that how people usually sleep with your wife? But you're right. Any jury in the world sees this is going to be convinced that Max killed you to keep Gabrielle all to himself. Now, where is that little spark plug of a porn star? Yo, Gaby!

Gabrielle: If I don't betray Max, then I'll be double-crossing Asa. And what he'll do to me and Al -- at the end of that, life isn't going to be worth living. Dear Lord, I cannot make this decision alone. Please show me a sign. Please show me the way. Give me a voice, please.

Todd: Gab, let's go! Come on! It's time! Time to nail Max to the cross!

R.J.: How's business?

Keith: You pay, I deliver.

R.J.: Now, we both know that's bull. Now, stop yanking my chain. No more cute answers. No more riddles. I paid you to run Cristian out of town, hmm? Have you?

Keith: Vega's long gone by now. I guarantee it.

Cristian: Is there a problem?

Jen: No, I'm fine. Why are you staring at me?

Cristian: Can't help it. You're too beautiful.

Jen: You're making me self-conscious.

Cristian: Sorry.

Jen: I'm going to get a glass.

Cristian: Whoa. Wait a minute. I really did make you self-conscious. Miss Manners.

Jen: Hey.

Cristian: What, you didn't like it?

Jen: Yeah, I loved it after - after the shock. If you'd have done it a second or two later, maybe I would have choked to death.

Cristian: I can think of worse ways to go. Anyway, it's your fault.

Jen: Oh, yeah? How do you get that?

Cristian: Well, I mean, here you are, totally irresistible, that glass heading for your lips. And suddenly I'm thinking, why should the drink have all the fun?

Jen: That is a good question.

Cristian: Go away. We're not here.

Jen: Nice try.

Cristian: Not nice enough.

Jen: I'll get it.

Jen: It's Antonio.

Antonio: Hi.

Cristian: What are you doing here?

Antonio: What do you think?

Cristian: I told you I'd go by the station, Antonio.

Antonio: Yeah, I know.

Cristian: So, what, you didn't believe me?

Antonio: This will only take a minute.

Cristian: Antonio, come on, man.

Antonio: Look, Cris, the sooner you get through this, the sooner you can get back to -- whatever it is you need to get back to.

Cristian: What are these, anyway?

Antonio: What do you think? Mug shots.

Cristian: Great.

Antonio: Look, if you don't recognize anybody from these books, then I can get the state cops to send me their faces, or the feds if we need to.

Cristian: All this just because I got jumped?

Antonio: You were assaulted, Cris. It's called breaking the law.

Cristian: Where we come from, it's called a friendly introduction.

Antonio: Cris --

Cristian: Look, Antonio, it's nice of you to worry and all, but it's not a big deal, man.

Antonio: It is a big deal.

Cristian: I told you that I'd go by the station and look at your books when I had the time.

Antonio: No, Cris, what you told me was that you would stop by the station after you dropped Jen off, and you didn't. That's why I came by with these mug shot books so that you can page through them now.

Cristian: I can look after myself, man.

Antonio: Ok. Let's say you can. What about the next person, huh? What about the next person that gets attacked? What if they can't look after themselves? Are you going to let them get hurt just so you could play macho man?

Cristian: Can you believe this guy?

Jen: Yeah, actually, I can. Come on, Cris. How long is it going to take?

Cristian: Ok, ok. I'll look through your little albums. Anything to get this over with.

Antonio: All right. This is a long shot, but I want you to page through here, see if you recognize anyone that was hanging around the hospital.

Cristian: Yeah, yeah, I know, I know.

Antonio: You, too, Jen. Please, take a look; see if you recognize anyone that might've been there.

Jen: Ok.

Antonio: Take as long as you need.

Ben: Oh, excuse me. Sister -- have you seen my friend Allison Perk-- something?

Sister: Perkins. She's in a group therapy session.

Rae: Ben? What are you doing back here?

Ben: Thanks.

Rae: Thanks for what? What do you think you're doing anyway? I won't have you interfering with a patient of mine.

Ben: What makes you think I'm doing that?

Rae: Listen to me -- Allison Perkins deserves the chance to have a normal life.

Ben: That's why you give her a day pass, right?

Rae: Is that what this is all about?

Ben: Do you know what she did with that day pass, Rae?

Rae: What, Ben?

Ben: She went to Llanfair.

Rae: And?

Ben: And she claimed that she went there to tell Viki that once she's released, she has a job in town.

Rae: Obviously you don't think that's the reason that she was there.

Ben: Rae, I think Allison Perkins is up to something.

Addie: Blair, why did you -- why are you sending Todd a letter? Why don't you just call him on the telephone?

Blair: Mama -- because it's too personal, ok?

Addie: Is it like a secret?

Blair: No, it's not a secret or anything like that --

Addie: I know! It's a love letter!

Blair: Mama, Mama, please, let me just have the letter, all right? It's -- it's just something that Todd should know.

Todd: Blair --

Blair: Yes, Todd?

Todd: What is this?

Blair: It's the truth, Todd. I'm glad that I finally had a chance to tell you.

Todd: The baby's not Max's?

Blair: The baby is -- is your baby, Todd. Our baby. It changes everything.

Todd: It does. Can I hold him?

Blair: Sure. There you go. I want you to meet your daddy, big boy. Beautiful. [Baby cries]

Todd: He's -- he's -- he's really mine.

Blair: Yes, Todd. You finally got what you wanted, the family you always wanted -- you and me and Starr and this beautiful baby boy.

Todd: Well, I have what I wanted. Now I've got two kids. And you're never going to see us ever again.

Blair: What?

Todd: You didn't really think I would share, did you? You and Max -- you can make yourselves a whole other batch. This one's mine. All mine.

Blair: No! No, Todd! No! Don't you take my baby! No! Please, Todd, not again! Don't take my baby!

Addie: Blair, what's wrong? Are you upset? Sweetheart, is it about the letter?

Blair: What letter?

Todd: Gabrielle Buchanan, come on down!

Gabrielle: I heard you the first time, Todd. The second, the third, the fourth.

Todd: Well, then, what kept you?

Gabrielle: As a matter of fact --

Asa: You don't have to answer that, Gabrielle. And you, Manning, don't get to tell my wife what to do.

Todd: Oh, right, because that's your department. But from what I saw on this tape, she really doesn't mind taking orders.

Gabrielle: If I was dragged down here to listen to this nonsense --

Todd: No, no, no. I just want to get things straight. See, we got the X-rated video, we got the pills to kill Asa. Now I'm assuming we have the fingerprints to put on the pill bottle.

Asa: We got those. Don't we?

Gabrielle: I -- I'm working on it.

Todd: Ok, that's a no.

Gabrielle: Manning, I have been a little bit busy. My son is in the hospital.

Asa: Our son, and he's on the mend. So why don't you go out and corral Maxy and get his prints.

Gabrielle: Asa, it's not that easy.

Asa: It doesn't get any easier. The guy can't keep his paws off you.

Todd: Yeah, maybe we should dust her for prints.

Gabrielle: Oh -- Max isn't going to come anywhere near me on a day like today.

Todd: Why not?

Gabrielle: In case you'd forgotten, Todd, he's getting married to Blair today.

Todd: Actually, Max made a little change in the wedding plans. He cancelled the wedding.

Gabrielle: He did what?

Todd: Cancelled the wedding.

Gabrielle: How long for?

Todd: No, he didn't postpone it. He cancelled the wedding. He deep-sixed it. He 86'd it. He -- it's not going to happen.

Gabrielle: Max cancelled the wedding?

Todd: Ok, I don't know how to say it in Argentinean.

Gabrielle: Asa, I -- I'll be right back. I --

Asa: Oh?

Gabrielle: I'll be right back, Darling.

Gabrielle: Max cancelled the wedding. Is this a sign? Is this the sign I've been waiting for?

Todd: What's with her?

Asa: It had better not be what I'm thinking.

Al: I'm all that matters to you, huh?

Max: That's right.

Al: So you're going to forget about Blair and this new kid just like you forgot about me and Mom?

Max: No.

Al: No, you forgot about me. You're still interested in Mom, right, when you're in the mood.

Max: I never forgot about you. I'm your father. I remember more about your early years than you do. Matter of fact, I was up all night last night just thinking about them, thinking about you.

Al: I'm sorry you wasted your time.

Max: Oh, no. Uh-uh. It was nice. We had some great times together, Al. We were friends. We were best friends.

Al: Well, I've grown up.

Max: Yeah, unfortunately you had to grow up too fast. Remember when Luna died -- I thought I was going to fall apart, and you're all that held me together. I didn't think I was going to make it, but you -- well, you saved my life.

Al: This payback? Don't bother. You don't owe me a thing.

Max: I owe you everything because you are everything. Al, you almost died in a motorcycle accident. That made me take a good, long, hard look at Max Holden, and that's not something you want to do on a full stomach. I didn't forget you. I just forgot what was important. Just kept thinking about my hopes and my dreams, and I forgot that yours were supposed to come first.

Al: Well, maybe you'll have a chance with this new kid, huh?

Max: I may not be Blair's husband, but I will be this baby's father. And I'm ready to face that responsibility. In fact, I'm looking forward to it. But first my responsibility is to the remarkable young man who first gave me that title father. Just give me a chance, Al. Give me a chance to be the father you always wanted, the father you deserved. You're the only one who can give me that chance, so -- so, what do you say?

Cristian: Wait a minute.

Jen: What? What is it?

R.J.: How do you know Cristian is gone?

Keith: Because it's my job to know.

R.J.: Did you see him depart?

Keith: No, but I set the ball in motion. There's no way it's going to stop.

R.J.: There's always a way for something to go wrong. So if you didn't see it happen --

Keith: I'll tell you what -- if it'll make you feel better, I'll double-check and make sure that Cristian is gone.

R.J.: Well, you see to it he is.

Keith: Done.

R.J.: One more thing -- I just want Cristian run out of town, hmm? Not dead. You hear me? I don't need to give his brother a real reason to come looking for me.

Keith: Don't worry, R.J. There won't be any blood on your hands. It'll all be on mine -- Boss.

Rae: I understand your concern, Ben. I do. But I think you're overreacting. It sounds to me as though Allison was just trying to ease Viki's mind. Was it inappropriate? Maybe. But I think it was with good intentions.

Ben: Yeah, well, I don't buy it for a second.

Rae: You going to tell me what you base these suspicions on?

Ben: I admit I have nothing concrete. But I just have this feeling about that woman --

Rae: "Feeling"? You want me to deprive a woman of her freedom because of a feeling? A woman you haven't even met?

Ben: Look, I just think you should take another look at her case.

Rae: I can't. I can't. Even if I wanted to, I can't. The board has it now. Ben, please, I wish you would just stop worrying about this. Allison, I think, is going to surprise all of us.

Ben: That's what I'm afraid of.

Allison: I know. I know what you're up to.

Ben: Um -- what do you mean, Allison -- what am I up to?

Allison: You were pleading my case with Dr. Cummings, weren't you? You were trying to get me released.

Ben: You were listening, Allison?

Allison: I didn't hear a word, but I didn't need to. I know what you're like, Dave. I bet you wanted to help me.

Ben: Wow. I can't even fool you a little.

Allison: No.

Ben: So -- I just know how much you want to go home, and Dr. Cummings -- she's huge here at the hospital. So I told her that you deserve to go home more than anybody.

Allison: Oh, Dave, that's -- that's one of the nicest things anyone's ever done for me.

Ben: Oh, it wasn't anything, really, Allison. I don't mind at all –

Blair: I don't know what I was thinking, Mama. I must've been out of mind to have written that letter.

Addie: Are you out of your mind? I hope not.

Blair: No, Mama. Not anymore.

Addie: I'm so glad to hear that. It's not always fun, you know.

Blair: Yeah, I know. You know, I'm sorry. It's just a silly expression, that's all. Yeah. You know, you haven't opened your present.

Addie: That's right.

Blair: Here it is.

Addie: Oh, Blair! Oh, Blair, it's so beautiful!

Blair: Do you like it? You know, there is a really great arts and crafts store that opened right on river street. And every time I walk past it, I think of you, Mama.

Addie: That's such a nice thing to say. First thing I'm going to make is something really, really nice for you.

Blair: Thanks.

Addie: You've changed so much. I remember when you first came to visit me -- when you had a little money in your pocket -- you used to bring me all kinds of presents. You'd bring me jewelry and fancy clothes.

Blair: Oh, Mama, I just -- I just wanted to give you things that I thought that you'd love.

Addie: That was before you knew I get the best present every time you walk through the door.

Blair: You know, Mama, I'm -- I'm not going to be able to give you that kind of a present for a while. See, I'm going to have to go away.

Addie: Can you -- can you stay for the cake?

Blair: Mama, I really -- I'd really love to. It's just I -- I have a plane to catch.

Addie: A plane?

Blair: Yeah.

Addie: Are you going far away?

Blair: Well, not too far, Mama.

Addie: For a long time?

Blair: Too long, ok? And you know what? When I come back, I'm going to have a brand-new baby to show you.

Addie: I'm so excited! Oh, I hope you have a child that's just like Starr.

Blair: Mama, I hope that I have a child with as much love in his life as you've given me. I love you, Mama.

Blair: Good-bye.

Addie: Good-bye, Darling. Bye, Blair.

Blair: Bye.

Addie: It's like a puzzle.

Todd: You know, Asa, it doesn't seem like you and Mata Hari are really on the same page on this one. Doesn't seem like you two are really even on the same book.

Gabrielle: So you want to know whose side I'm on, don't you, Todd?

Todd: Well, it's a good question.

Gabrielle: Your side, I assure you.

Todd: I don't feel assured. I just told you Max is back on the market. You seemed -- I don't know -- you seemed happy.

Gabrielle: Of course I'm happy. It means that our plan can go forward.

Todd: You sure? Because I was thinking maybe that while you were trying to get your hooks into Max, Max really got his hooks into you, and now that Blair's out of the picture, you think you might be able to get Max all to yourself.

Gabrielle: Speak for yourself. And perhaps you are. If Max is free, that means Blair is free, and don't tell me that hasn't occurred to you.

Todd: Oh, no, no. I know. Blair's free. And she's so happy about Max dumping her that she left town.

Gabrielle: So does that mean that when we spring our little trap, she might not be around to be arrested? That must be so disappointing to you.

Todd: Well, if I had my druthers, the cops would chase down Blair and throw her in the pokey. But if all we can get is Max, I can live with that. Can you?

Asa: The man asked you a question, Gabrielle.

Todd: Ok, well, I'll just leave you two to thrash this out. Leave that with you. I got it on D.V.D.

Asa: Well, Gabrielle?

Gabrielle: Asa, you have to believe me. I want the same thing that you want.

Asa: No. You have to make me believe.

Gabrielle: I want Max taken down just as badly as you do.

Asa: Then why the hell is he still standing?

Gabrielle: Because I need more time!

Asa: I've given you time. I've given you money. I'd like a return on my investment.

Gabrielle: And you will get it.

Asa: When?

Gabrielle: Soon!

Asa: I want it sooner. And if you happen to have a thing for Max, get over it. He took my money and my name. Do you think that I'm going to let you get away with the same thing?

Gabrielle: Asa, I won't.

Asa: You're damn right you won't. Now, you go out and get those prints. And I want to put that Holden in prison, or I will send you back to the damn gutter with nothing -- no money, no mansion, and no son.

Gabrielle: Asa, you wouldn't do that.

Asa: Oh. You don't think I will? I'm going to tell you something right now. I'm going to be back here in 10 minutes. You tell me if you're in -- yes or no. My advice? Say yes.

Max: I know it's going to be hard to win your trust back.

Al: Why should I trust you? So you can mess up my life just like you're messing up my mother's right now?

Max: Just give me a chance.

Al: What for? So you can pretend to care about me and make me and Mom care? Till something better comes along. Then you'll leave, just like you always do.

Max: I don't blame you for being angry with me.

Al: You don't blame me? That's a good one. Are you going to blame me for telling you to get the hell out of here?

Max: All right. Listen, I can't -- I can't make you listen to me, but --

Al: That's right.

Max: You can't stop me from loving you.

Al: Would you just get out? Just get out -- get out! Leave! Get out!

Cristian: I think I recognize this guy.

Jen: Really?

Antonio: Are you positive?

Cristian: No, no. I take that back.

Jen: Yeah, I never saw that person.

Antonio: Well, keep looking.

[Phone rings]

Jen: Ooh, ooh, ooh -- sorry. Sorry.

Cristian: Don't worry about it.

Antonio: Where's a towel?

Cristian: Right down there. It's cool.

[Ring]

Jen: Hello?

Al: Hey, Jen.

Jen: Al. Hi. How are you?

Al: I'm ok. Not really. Max came by.

Jen: Oh, I get it.

Al: Yeah, and I could really use somebody to talk to right now.

Jen: Ok. I'll be there. All right? Bye.

Cristian: Just throw it in the sink.

Jen: That was Al.

Cristian: Is he ok?

Jen: Yeah. He's just a little bummed from a visit from Max, but I'm going to drop by and cheer him up.

Cristian: Really?

Jen: He's a friend, Cris. He could really use one right now.

Cristian: I understand. Besides, I'm stuck here with Antonio and his little pretty pictures. Come on. I'll walk you out.

Jen: Ok.

Cristian: Be right back, bro.

Antonio: Yeah. Don't go far.

Jen: Bye.

Antonio: Bye.

Cristian: Hurry back, huh?

Jen: I will.

Cristian: Be careful.

Jen: About what?

Cristian: Just be careful.

Jen: Ok.

Cristian: See you.

Jen: See you.

Gabrielle: Oh, no. No, you've got to help me. Asa's threatening to take everything away. He's going to leave me with nothing. He's going to take everything. He's going to take my son away. You can't -- I can't let him do this. You've got to help me. I can't.

Officer: I'm sorry, Mrs. Buchanan. He's been poisoned.

Gabrielle: Poisoned? Max, what have you done?

Max: Nothing.

Officer: We'll know when we dust the pill bottle for prints.

Max: Well, you're not going to find mine. Why would I want to kill Asa?

Officer: We just found this videotape of these two in bed.

Second Officer: Max Buchanan, you are under arrest.

Max: What?

Officer: You have the right to remain silent.

Max: No, no, hold it. Wait --

Officer: Anything you say can and will be used against you.

Max: No, no, see -- no, I didn't do this. I didn't -- I didn't do it!

Asa: We did it. We'll never see Max again. Never!

Gabrielle: There must be another way. There must be.

Allison: What's wrong? I thought you liked me.

Ben: Oh, I do, Allison, a lot. It's just -- only I don't know if we should be kissing here because of the nuns.

Allison: You're shy?

Ben: Sometimes, maybe.

Allison: She's gone. Now what do you think about doing that?

Todd: Get a padded room. This is from Starr. Happy birthday.

Addie: From Starr! I'm so happy! Oh!

Todd: You don't remember what she gave you for your birthday last year, do you? That could be, like, a box of piranha.

Addie: Is it?

Todd: Don't know. Left my x-ray goggles at home.

Addie: Would you like to borrow mine?

Todd: No thanks. Anyway, Starr made me promise to drop that off, so here I am and -- oh, look, here I'm not.

Addie: Oh, oh -- thank you for coming. Thank you for coming. Oh. Thank you.

Todd: What you making there, Addie?

Addie: Um -- wouldn't you like to know?

Allison: Oh, wow.

Ben: Sorry, Allison. I don't know what I was doing.

Allison: I do.

Ben: I don't know if I should do that again because, I mean, after you go, I may never see you again, ever.

Allison: Not necessarily.

Ben: What do you mean, Allison?

Allison: Big things are going to happen when I get out of here. I'd love for you to be part of it.

Ben: Really? What?

Cristian: Sorry I didn't recognize anyone from your book.

Antonio: Oh, that's ok, man. There's more where that came from.

Cristian: Oh --

Antonio: Look, Cristian, this is serious. It's time you started realizing that.

Cristian: Yes, Mom.

Gabrielle: I can't ruin Max. I can't. But if I don't, Asa is going to ruin me. What choice do I have? Please, show me. Please.

Officer: I'm sorry, Mrs. Buchanan, but he's been poisoned.

Gabrielle: Poisoned? Oh, Max --

Officer: Not poisoned, Sarge. An accidental overdose. Let's go to the morgue.

Second Officer: I guess this means she gets everything.

Gabrielle: It means we get it all. We get the money, we get Al, and we get each other.

Blair: It's all right, Sweetheart. We're safe now. Todd will never take you away from me. He doesn't know that he's your father, so he never will be.

Todd: No, really, Addie, what are you doing? Is it like an art project? It's an escape plan, isn't it?

Addie: No. It's a letter. And it's for you.

On the next "One Life To Live" --

Asa: Well, have you made up your mind?

Todd: Why are you showing this to me, Addie?

Ben: I'm good at keeping a secret. Allison: Even one as big as this?

Blair: I want to tell you the truth, Todd, but I'm not a fool.
