[ Chuckles ]

[ Sighs ] They told me I was gonna get a new roommate. Must have snuck in while I was sleeping. So what'd you do this time?

[ Cellphone rings ] What the hell? Sam: Hey. I've actually had worse from a vending machine. Oh. Thanks, honey. I don't think the caffeine and my nerves are a very good match right now.

[ Inhales, exhales deeply ] You've been up all night, olivia. So have you. Exactly why we both need this. I guess I'm just gonna be worried sick about dante for the rest of my life, huh? [ Chuckles ] Going after peter with a gun? I mean, sam, he just would've never done that if he was in his right mind. I know. You're right. And that's why I brought him to see kevin, because he's gonna talk to him. He's gonna make him better and get him back on track. Got it? Got it. You know, you've been here for hours. You should, uh, do what kevin did and take off. Go home. No. Actually, I'm feeling kind of wired. It's hard to believe that, um... I haven't pulled an all-nighter in quite some time. How you doing? You tell me. So glad we were able to squeeze in breakfast. Yeah. Feels like I haven't seen you in forever. I know, it's just, uh -- it's been, like, one fire to put out after another. Jason getting arrested last night did not make things any better. Is there anything I can do? Well, uh...would you like to run aurora?

[ Laughs ] Yeah, I don't think that would be wise. Yeah, maybe not. I know that maxie told me nina took a leave of absence from crimson. I know that's technically jax's half of the company, but has it impacted you? No, not from a business perspective, but, um... I have to admit that nina taking a break is the best thing for wiley. Good morning. Good morning. I was wondering, uh, if i was ever gonna see you again, or you were just gonna skip town. Well, I couldn't leave without checking in first, not after phyllis and lenny let me stay at their place. Mm. So? So what? Did a good night's sleep help you decide what you're gonna do next? Well, that would have helped, right? But I didn't get much sleep last night. Carly: Jason's arraignment is coming up. How confident are you you're gonna get him out on bail? Are you serious? I know you're gonna do everything you can. I just wish we had the name of that supposed witness. That would make all the difference. I'm so thrilled we're doing breakfast. Too bad you have plans for lunch and dinner. They're not plans, mom. It's called work. Wait. Before we go in, we need to talk. About? You being the one who got jason arrested. Been arrested for the murder of franco baldwin. So, um... how long you think it's gonna take for your fancy lawyer to get you out of this one? Guess we'll find out. Well, if history has any indication, I'd say you're gonna see the light of day much sooner than I will. Re so mysterious on the phone. Do you mind me asking what the occasion is? Well, I was scrolling through facebook last night and I noticed that it was your birthday last week? It was. Why didn't you say something? Well, I didn't know I was supposed to. I mean, we are siblings, laura, but the fact is... we barely know each other. Okay. Yeah, but I was hoping maybe we could use the occasion to change that. I know that peter is bad news, and I truly hope to god that he pays for all of his crimes. I mean, especially what he did to drew. Yeah, me, too. I-I-I'm just so grateful that it wasn't dante that put an end to him. Honey, so -- so thank you. For showing up when you did and for getting through to my son. I-I just couldn't go through losing him again. You don't have to thank me. I did what anyone would have done. No. Honey, since dante has been home, you've been a really good friend to him. I mean, I've been trying my best, but, um... I don't know. I-it seems like you've been exactly what he's needed, and I am so grateful for that. It's been really difficult for you, rehashing all of that, but I do feel that you and kevin made good progress last night. Yeah. Yeah, I definitely feel, uh, lighter. Good. Good. It's weird, though. Not having control like that.

[ Sighs ] I mean, I just kept hearing in my head, "complete the mission. Kill peter." I was gonna do it. You didn't, though. Yeah, 'cause sam showed up and talked me down. It was like a-a fog was lifted. Well, now you know what caused the fog. I'm so sorry for what dr. Kirk did you. Yeah, well, it's, uh... it's over now. Yeah, it's over. Now you just get on with the rest of your life. Yeah. Yeah, whatever that looks like. Look, I just want you to know that whatever's going on with me, Trina and portia are still protected. I wouldn't think anything different.

[ Cell door opening ] Time for your sentencing hearing. Great. Much as I don't love cyrus walking around while you're in here locked behind bars, whatever you're doing to get out, make it fast. Gladys: What more is there to say? I saw jason dispose of a gun and I told the police. I still can't believe he's responsible for such an awful murder. We don't know that he is, mom. You coming forward is causing a lot of problems for carly, who just lost her husband. You remember Sonny, your cousin? God rest his soul. There's still a lot of questions surrounding franco's death. Which is why I felt it necessary to come forward with the information. Is this an interrogation? No. All I did was tell the truth, brando. And why do you care so much, anyway? As I recall, Sonny kicked you to the curb. You have a new job now -- with the head of the hospital, no less. So, if you really think about it, I actually did you a favor. How? Me doing my civic duty will only endear you more with your employer. Now, can we please go in? It's cold out here. Sorry. Uh, go ahead. So, uh, I was thinking about wiley and, uh, his confusion over what nina said to him and thinking about willow and how hurt she's been. And I was -- I don't know. I was trying to protect them. You were trying to make everything okay. Ye. I mean, she's wiley's mother, and she absolutely has a say in, well, everything when it comes to him, especially something so pivotal as if he's gonna be able to see one of his grandmothers or not. Well, look at this! We got o urselvesa family reunion.

[ Chuckles ] Alright, just let me know what you find out in discovery. Okay. I have to call you back, diane. Good morning, mrs. Corinthos. What do you want? Just to offer my sympathies. I saw on the news jason morgan's been arrested. Misunderstanding. Oh? Yeah. His lawyer will have him out in no time. Well, for your sake, I certainly hope that's the case. I can't imagine how difficult this must be so soon after your husband's passing. Sonny: So what kept you up? Thinking about that woman who wronged your daughter? Yes. And... if it's my job or fate's to balance the scales. I don't believe much in fate.

[ Laughs ] Excuse me? Weren't you the one just last night that said it was fate that brought us together? Well, that's just a figure of speech. You know, I think I-in life, we make our own choices. Like, look at me. Lenny and phyllis, they took me in and they put their necks on the line, so... I'm gonna pay them back by, you know, any job they want. You've done a lot of really great things for them. And fate or not, Mike, you are a blessing. I don't know about that. Hey, do you ever wonder about the choices that you have made that led you here? Like...what kind of person you were? No way of knowing, is there? But if there was a way for you to know, would you want to know? Oh, my god. Thank god. Thank god. How are you doing? I-I'm fine. You're okay? Really? Yeah. No, no, no. I'm good.Let me look at you. I'm good. I'm good. Okay, what happened? You want to do the honors? Oh, uh, well, it -- it turns out a faction of the wsb went rogue and they enlisted dr. Kirk to manipulate the psychological trauma that dante had experienced during his time with raj -- use it for their own ends. Their own ends? Yeah. Um, to eliminate peter. Wait, wait, wait. Manipulate him how? Kevin explained it like, um... dr. Kirk installed these triggers in dante that he was acting on without realizing. Okay. But -- but -- but they're gone now? Mm-hmm. Kevin believes that he's removed them. Yes. Yeah. We're gonna do sessions a couple times a week... right. ...Just to make sure. Just in case there's any hidden triggers. Well, I'm glad you're okay. Hey, uh... I owe you. Big time. No, you don'T. Yes, he does. Yes, I do. Look, you hadn't shown up, peter would be dead. I was gonna do it. There was nothing clearer in my mind. The only thing that stopped me was you. Okay, well, then I'm glad I was there. Me, too.

[ Cellphone chimes ] Excuse me. So I-I-I would assume there's still some work... yes. ...To be done here, but he's safe now? He can go home? Yes, absolutely. Yeah.

[ Sighs ] Oh, thank god. Thank god. You should thank god a few more times, mom. You know what? I'm gonna thank god as many times as I want, wise guy, alright? I need another hug. Come here.

[ Cell door opening ] Mr. Morgan, dr. Westbourne to see you. Thank you, officer. What -- what are you doing? Shut up and play along. I'm following up on the head injury you suffered last summer. The one that requires you to be seen every month. Follow the light, please. Okay, okay. T-the guard can't hear us. What the hell is going on? You were arrested for franco's murder? Yeah, I-I didn't kill franco. Peter did. Peter as in my brother? He framed me. What? You just said that like you were telling me what you had for dinner last night. Peter framed you, jason. Are you forgetting just how good he is at that? If you are, just ask my mother about her most recent stint in steinmauer. She'd be more than happy to tell you all the details. I remember. So...why are you so relaxed right now? I've been to prison, and it's no joyride. I mean, sure, you'll survive, most likely, but it won't be pleasant for you or the people you're leaving behind. I mean, like carly and -- and your kids. And, I mean, this is a real problem. Britt. What? Just take a breath. No. No, you don't want to breathe? No, you don't get to calm me down. I'm the one that faked my way in here with this whole monthly checkup thing. It's my job to take care of you. Okay. Okay? Okay. There are days that finding out who I am is all I think about. And what about the other days, Mike? Well, you know, I don't know if I want to know the answer. I mean, it's good here. Everything's fine. And who knows? It might be the start of something big.

[ Footsteps approaching ] Phyllis: Nina. Oh, hey, phyllis. I didn't expect you to be here this early. Yeah, I just got a jump on the day. So this is goodbye? Yes. I think it's time we all got on with our lives. Michael, it is so nice to see you again. I was very sorry to hear about your father. But when brando made it clear I wasn't welcome at dev's memorial, I figured the same would apply to Sonny's, and lord knows I do not want to upset your mother. Yeah, that was -- that was very generous of you. You told your mother not to come to your son's funeral? It's a long story. I'll bet. Michael, you got a second? Uh [Clears throat] Yeah, sure. Sasha. We keep running into each other, don't we? First in brando's hospital room and now here. I'm curious, how long have you and my son been...friendly? Don't react, just listen and relay this information to whoever needs to know. Okay. My mother is the witness who accused jason. Martin: I must confess, with my mother in hiding, my birthday did feel a little lonelier than usual this year. So I take it jason didn't let you know where he moved florence? No, and I prefer to keep it that way. The less I know, the less cyrus could pressure me into revealing. Very smart. And also very difficult, I would imagine. Well, you have no idea.

[ Laughs ] Right about now, I'd be making plans to visit mom in a few weeks for easter. Oh.

[ Chuckles ] Lord, how that woman loves getting dressed up for church. Mm. Really? Oh, like you read about. The whole ride back is one long critique about her friends' outfits. "Did you see what she was wearing? My god, like a velvet bread-box. Who does that woman think she is, the queen?"

[ Laughs ] Yeah, she's something. Guess I can't risk visiting her this year, that's for sure. Why don't you spend the holiday with me and my family? I mean, I would have asked you sooner. It's just that I assumed that you'd have other relatives that you wanted to spend it with. Or children. No. Significant other? Wow. We really don't know each other, do we? Not yet. Carly: Mr. Renault, we both know what you can do with your condolences. Now, is that all? Actually, no. I'm afraid that with jason indisposed, I'm unsure who I should be reaching out to on matters of business. Unless it's always been you. I'm sorry? Well, the more I know you, mrs. Corinthos, the more I'm thinking you're not just a passive bystander, that instead of the grieving widow letting jason run the organization, it's actually you who's the power behind the throne. Maybe you're the one I've been dealing with all along. You said something about business. It's come to my attention that mr. Morgan called a meeting of the five families, presumably to discuss the power balance now that Sonny's gone. And? And one has to worry what might happen if mr. Morgan can't make that meeting. Selfishly, I'd love it if you stayed a little longer, but I get it. Nixon falls couldn't compete with lake como on its best days...let alone now. What -- what do you mean? Oh, just some community issues. Nothing for you to worry about. Uh, you know, the recession has been hard on local businesses. Then you add in vandalism and burglary. It's tough. Wait, hold on. So all these repairs and things that you've been doing, this just wasn't an isolated incident? Oh, none of it's been serious or violent. Well, I'd say busted windows is violent, phyllis. I just mean no one got hurt. But it's scaring people off. And you know how it goes -- the fewer people, the more businesses start to jump ship. And it's not good for the -- the foot traffic at the tan-O. I'm so sorry. That's terrible. It's a real shame to see what's happening to our beautiful little town, especially since it feels like there's nothing I can do about it. But you can. Well, fear not, I plan to attend the meeting and I'll make sure to communicate that all is well on your end. But the other families, they can be unpredictable, especially if they smell blood in the water with jason indefinitely indisposed.

[ Cellphone ringing ] Hi, michael. What's up? A son checking in with his mother. What a luxury. Michael: Mom.

I-I, uh -- I just ran into

brando. The witness is gladys. Are you sure? That's what he said.

There must be an angle. Thank you for telling me this. That was a quick phone call. Yeah, that's what happens when people get to the point. Everything all right? It will be. Hm? Turns out Sonny's cousin gladys is the witness who's testifying against jason. You mean that nice woman I met at Mike's funeral? Yeah. And we both know you put her up to it. It still doesn't feel like it's computing. What doesn't? The fact that you've been arrested for something you didn't do. And not -- not just "something" -- murder, jason. And the person who did do it happens to be incredibly skilled at covering his -- his tracks. Yeah, I know all this, britt. Oh, of course you do, 'cause you're mr. Mob guy who knows everything about everything, and -- and that's all great when it comes to your territory and killing mobsters. But when it comes to peter, I don't even know how to say this, uh... I went on the run with my father for a year, okay? Looking for any and every way out. So when I tell you that cesar faison is a whole other level of crazy... I should listen. Now, consider that peter was raised by that monster. Yes, he hated his guts, but that doesn't change the fact that peter learned everything that faison had to teach -- all the lessons of espionage and -- and manipulation and deceit. Do you see where I'm going with this? Go ahead, tell me. Faison was a complete and utter psychopath who destroyed people's lives for fun. And my brother, the person who framed you, learned at his knee. So maybe there needs to be a little bit more panic here, you know, since life as you know it is about to end. I swear to god, if I would have just been able to see through that kirk guy in geneva, I-I-I-I would have busted down that door, I would've dragged you out of the joint all by myself. Oh, yeah, ma? And then what? And then none of this would have happened. Well, kirk was working to condition dante for months. Yeah. I don't think there's much you could've done. Alright, alright, okay. Here's the part that I don't get. T-there's just one part? Knock it off. Kirk is dead? Yes, correct. So he's, what -- he's -- he's manipulating your brain from beyond the grave? Well, unfortunately, once the triggers are installed, they remain intact, and kirk wouldn't have to physically activate them. So you're sure he's not working with somebody else or something? No, um, there's no evidence of that. But at the end of the day, this is all over with, okay? It's all done, and now it's just smooth sailing from here on out. That's the plan. No, I never started a family of my own. I mean, don't get me wrong, not for lack of trying. So you've been married? Oh, several times. You know, I've paid enough alimony over the years to fund a small country. Oh. But after my third wife, I realized that the problem might just be me. That seems so hard to believe. Oh, no. Trust me, I have a tendency to smooth-talk my way out of...

[ Sighs ] Well, everything. Often glossing over the underlying issues in a relationship. You know, it's funny. I just realized... in my efforts to make my marriages different than my parents', I created my own set of difficulties. I thought you got along well with your parents. No, I did. I mean, don't get me wrong. But I'd be lying if I said there wasn't constant tension in the house. I mean, they were always fighting about something. You know, them or... his past transgressions or... or about cyrus? Yeah. Well, old cy was one son, I was another. The one they "didn't need to worry about." The, uh -- the good son. No, they were so traumatized by everything cyrus put them through, there wasn't much left over for me. They counted on me to take care of myself, so I did. I think I know how you felt, but from the other side. Um, the sister that I was raised with, amy, she was just the sweetest thing, but, growing up... I was a lot. That's hard to imagine. Yeah. So amy had to be twice as loud and twice as gregarious just to... just to get the same amount of attention I was getting. Mayor collins, are you calling me gregarious? I think it must have been hard for amy to have lived with me, and I'm sure it was hard for you to live with cyrus. Well, we all have our challenges, laura. But having people around who care about you makes those challenges a whole lot easier to bear. Brando helped me through a rough time recently. Oh, yeah, I heard all about your "rough time" with drugs when jackie templeton interviewed you on gma3. Fortunately, I got the help I needed -- thanks, in large part, to your son. Mm-hmm. Hope we weren't gone too long. Oh, we were just catching up. Isn't that right? Let's grab ourselves a table, huh? I'm famished.

[ Sighs ] Is everything okay? I have no idea what you're talking about. I barely know this gladys woman. Wow, it all makes sense. You heard about jason being brought in for questioning, and you saw an opportunity. That's why you're here, going on and on about the meeting with the five families. You wanted me to know what was at stake so you could make me an offer I couldn't refuse. We're supposed to be allies. W-we are. We are allies. A-a team to take on cyrus together. So what do you care if you go to prison, right? I'm the one left holding the bag. But don't worry about me. I'll be fine. I'm just risking my career and my life, probably, while you're safe and sound behind bars. And yes, I know I said that prison is hellish, but if cyrus finds out that I've been working against him, I'm gonna wish I was in pentonville. You're not as selfish as you like people to think. Oh, yeah? Try me. Time to finish up. Morgan's got another visitor. You write for a magazine, right? I do. Why don't you write for, you know -- why don't you write an article for nixon falls? Draw people on what's going on here, and then, you know, there's gonna be people coming here spending a little money, right? Tide people over. Phyllis: What a wonderful idea, Mike. Thank you. Mm-hmm. Nina, do you think that's possible? Well, I-I would love to help. I really would love to help, but crimson is a fashion magazine. Okay, so you -- you only write for clothes? You don't -- you don't write for human interest or anything like that? No, no. Sometimes we do. Right, so what's wrong? Well, I-I'm on a leave of absence. You know, I have communication with my team, but the second-in-command is really running the day-to-day business. And I-I don't think it'd be appropriate for me to overrule their decisions unless I was ready to go back to work. Of course. I completely understand. You've been through a lot. You deserve some time off. I'll grab you some water for your ride. No, no, no, no, no. It's okay. It's not necessary. No, don't be silly. We've got plenty of bottles in the back. What? I think you're making a mistake. We're all set. Everything looks good. No lingering effects from the trauma. Molly told me you were arrested. I just wanted to make sure everything was okay. I appreciate you checking in on me. I'm okay. Do you have a plan?

[ Sighs ] Well, we're working on it. It was peter, wasn't it? He killed franco. Yeah, looks like it. But he's framing me and we all know how good he is at that.

[ Sighs ] So getting out of here... it's not gonna be easy. Maybe gladys' eyesight isn't what it used to be. You say she saw mr. Morgan with the gun used to kill franco baldwin? That's right. Perhaps, upon further reflection, she'll come to realize she couldn't possibly be sure it was jason she saw dispose of the weapon. Wouldn't it be a relief if she were suddenly to recant her story? Just as it would be a relief if my mother were returned to me. Do we understand each other? I think we do. I look forward to hearing from you. You and sasha seem close. Uh, we're just friends. Is that why you keep stealing looks in her direction? Mom. I'll just say this -- do you think it's wise to get involved with someone else in recovery? I thought that was a big no-no. Michael: Try looking under wiley's crib. You found it? Okay, good. No, I know. I know how cranky wiley gets without mr. Trunks. Alright, well, um, just, uh, give him a kiss for me, okay? And I'll, uh -- I'll see you all soon. Alright, bye. Mr. Trunks?

[ Laughs ] Yes, it's wiley's stuffed elephant. Doesn't sound like willow's holding a grudge over what happened with nina. I know. No. She, uh -- honestly, she wouldn't, and I-I think she's more disappointed than angry -- upset that I've left her out and...I shouldn't have. Look, if anyone knows that you're acting in good faith, it's willow. So please, do not beat yourself up. That's said, when it's time to register wiley for preschool, definitely do it together. Oh, yeah, no, we will.

[ Laughs ] We will. I do feel sorry for nina, though. Does it bother you that I said that? No, no, no. I... I feel -- I feel bad for her, too. And I...

[ Sighs ] That's why willow and i brought wiley to crimson in the first place. I'm just -- I'm hoping that it -- it does work out someday. Is that why she left town? Yeah. She -- she needed to clear her head. You know, she needs help. And I'm really hoping she gets it. I'm not a publisher, but you're the boss, right? On leave or not, you can pretty much print whatever you want. Yeah, you're -- you're probably right. But you heard what phyllis said, didn't you? I've been through a lot these past few months and I need time to heal. I need time to recover. I-I just need time to... balance the scales? I mean, you -- you were wondering, uh, how to make the world right after you've been wronged. Maybe you can help some people who have been good to you. She dropped everything to go to new york when you needed her. Maybe you can do the same. I know I've always said that I thought the "spy life" was, uh, you know, romantic and exciting. Gotta say, from where I'm standing right now, the whole wsb just seems like a disaster from top to the bottom. Anna: I've made my fair share of missteps, so I'm really not in any position to disagree with you, but I would like to point out robert, and he's spent most of his career with the wsb, and he really is a great person. Um, not unique. There really are some good guys still at the organization. I will have to take your word for that. Okay. [ Laughs ] How about you? You ready to blow this joint? Yeah, yeah. There's a shower and a nap with my name on it. Let's get out of here. Hey, uh, thank you for everything. Come on.

[ Elevator bell dings ] Hi, it's me. I need to see you right away. What do you think? Is three enough? Actually, phyllis, if you don't mind, I think I might stay a while. Mike's right. I could probably pull a few strings and get an article written about this place. Really? I mean, the next couple of issues are planned and they, you know, might not see print for -- for a while, but, um, I would love to help out any way I can. Oh, nina, that means so much to me. Ooh. But are you sure you don't mind putting off your trip? What harm could a few more days do? None. You know, I think our impulse as humans is to try and be strong -- you know, to do things on our own, to tell ourselves, like, "no, it's okay. We can do this." You know, but sometimes, there's things that we just get lost in and we need someone to guide us. You know, not to tell us what to do, but to help us to figure our own way out. I completely agree. It was nearly impossible for me to show up for my first counseling session. Everyone was telling me to go, but I was so humiliated and locked inside myself, it took everything in me. And I know they're vastly different circumstances, but maybe nina just isn't there yet.

[ Sighs ] Yeah, well, I'm hoping that she gets there. And she realizes that the best thing for her and for wiley is that... you know, she deals with this. I hope that, too. For all of you. Sasha's recovery is none of your business. What? She told me herself. And I told you, we're just friends. Not what it looks like to me. Well, then look closer. They're clearly trying to work things out. Oh. If you say so. Okay, come on. What on earth is this? Well, I know it's a little late, but I wanted to celebrate your birthday. Well... thank you, laura. I am truly touched. Have at it. Mm.

[ Gasps ] Well, brother. What did you wish for? Look, um, I know we're not each other's biggest fans, but we have a common goal. Jason didn't kill franco. Okay. Well, then, what about peter? Well, we both know he did. Then he is way more dangerous to maxie than we thought. So what are we gonna do about it?

[ Cell door opening ] Popular man today. Is everything okay? It will be. 'Cause I'm getting you out of here, no matter what it takes.

On the next "General Hospital" --
