[ Indistinct conversations ] Jasper jax. Good evening. Valentin. Just, uh -- you can call me jax. Yeah? Thanks. Hey, on the launch ride over, I, uh, couldn't help but notice a flashy, new yacht in the marina. Is that yours?
[ Chuckling ] Yes, it is. Nice. Gorgeous. Yes, thank you. Had her, uh, moved here when I knew I'd be staying longer. Well, it must be nice being out on the open water. Well, I hope you're not angling to buy my yacht because she's not for sale. No, I would never buy a yacht.
[ Chuckles ] I like my money too much. But I'll tell you what -- I do have a proposal for you.
[ Telephone ringing in distance ]
[ Footsteps approaching ] Hey. How's jordan? Her prognosis is really good. Yeah? Yeah, I mean, she hasn't rejected ryan's kidney. There's no signs of infection.
[ Exhales heavily ] Thank goodness. Oh, my gosh. That's such a relief! Yeah. Relief. Okay. Over. What's up with the weird vibes? What weird vibes? You know, you just look distracted or stressed. I don't know. Yeah. You know, jordan's surgery was a success, and I'm incredibly grateful... but now we have to figure out a way to pay for it. Good news. You are infection-free and you are officially no longer my patient. Thank you, finn. Yeah. It was all a part of the job. Was it, though? We both know that my case was... a little outside of your purview. It meant a lot that you agreed to treat me. Well, it didn't take much convincing. Curtis is my friend, and... you are important to anna, and if I'm understanding this whole relationship thing, that makes you also important...to me. I will go give curtis the news. Finn, wait. Can I ask you a question? Shoot. How's ryan doing? Is he recuperating as well as I am? So, you're clear on the plan? Yes. Okay, uh, let's go over it just to be safe. Maxie, I know what to do. It's gonna work out great. Okay, okay. Just in case, why don't you tell me how you're gonna play it?
[ Chuckles ] Good grief. Look, I know what to do, okay? It's -- I-I was thinking that maybe -- don't think --
[ Stammers ] Sorry to interrupt. Have you got a minute? Oh, um... uh, yes. Okay? I'll see you later?
[ Exhales sharply ] Don't mess it up.
[ Both chuckle ] What can I do for you, madam mayor? Well, I need your help. You...ordered pie? Yeah, is that a problem? I just -- we came here for dessert and I thought you would get cake. You don't like cake? No, I like cake fine. I just prefer pie. That's all. I wish you would've told me. It's so great of you guys to offer up the restaurant for peter's party. Maxie is in full-on "maxie mode" about it. Oh, how wonderful is that? Yeah.
[ Chuckles ] Oof. Whoa.
[ Keys jingling ] You know what?
[ Sighs ] We should open the windows, let some air in here because, uh... no, it's -- it's -- it's fine. Okay, well, I bet I need to get you some groceries. That's okay. Yes, I do. No, come on. Just, you know, the basics -- flour, eggs, quinoa, kale. Really, there's, uh -- there's no rush. You gotta eat. That's it, though, isn't it? There's no rush. All we have is time.
[ Chuckles ] Just time to miss our son.
[ Knock on door ] Hey, you guys. Come in. Uh, thanks for coming. No problem. Is there a reason why we have to come in through the back door? Um, yeah. I don't want my parents seeing you. [ Scoffs ] Oh. Party time? Oh, yeah, that's a great idea. Let's throw a rager at sonny corinthos's house. No party. But if they knew what I was gonna ask you to do, they'd worry. And they've worried enough.
Not going to lie, I am intrigued. Over the last 10 years, you've developed an interesting business model. You buy into a company, you shore it up, you see it to completion, sell it for a hefty profit, and walk away clean. Well, some people flip houses. I flip companies. Except you used to break 'em down, didn't ya? I find this more rewarding. Well, I understand why aurora was so attractive to you -- specifically the print division. Well, it still is. Just needs a little tlc. Well, judging by the disparity of the businesses you've been involved with -- I mean, you've been involved in pipelines, energy companies, brokerage houses. I'm gonna say that you're not
too attached to the companies you invest in. So, uh... so...? I want to buy your half of aurora. Whatever your projected values, say, a year from now is, that's -- that's my offer. So... you get all the money and do none of the work. That's very generous of you. I would say that's an understatement. But we both know that I don't need your generosity. So I can only assume that you're doing this to... get me away from nina? You're absolutely right. Wait, w-wait. The -- the transplant wasn't covered? The transplant was. It's just... all the other stuff around it, you know? Not so much. Nina...an extended hospital stay ain't cheap. Well, if i remember correctly, I was the best person at your wedding. Yes. And I made a commitment to support your marriage, and you and jordan have been through hell. So please let me take care of the medical bills. Nina, no. Please! I want to help. No. I know you do. It's not a problem. For you. Look...thank you, nina, but no. I got this. Okay. Well, if anything changes... I'll know exactly who to call. Thank you. I supervised chamberlain's transfer to pentonville. And the last time I saw him, he was well on his way to a full recovery. Good. Go-- [ Chuckles ] Not everyone would agree with that sentiment. Well, not everyone has his kidney keeping them alive. So, uh, it's actually been very hard to get jordan to back off from her police work, but she needs to now. Signs of a good commissioner. Yes. So I was hoping to find someone who could fill in. Somebody who has experience and who jordan would trust. And somebody who would also be willing to walk away from the job when it was time for her to return. Sounds like a smart plan. Gives jordan time to recover and you a temporary commissioner you can count on. Excellent! So you'll do it! Me? Baseball player or an astronaut?
[ Chuckles ] When you were little. Mm. Did you want to be a baseball player or an astronaut? Ninja. What? Maxie, are you okay? I'm totally fine. What did you wanna be when you were little? Um, a fashion designer and, if that didn't work out, president.
[ Cellphone chimes ] Ooh! Uh, I need to go meet lulu. I'll see you later? I thought you were working later. I am. Sorry. I meant I'll talk to you later. Or maybe tomorrow, depending on how busy I am. Okay. Either way works for me. Cool. [ Chuckles ] Have a good night. Drew: Uh... I put your bags in your room, so... thank you. You know, my bed and my shower are screaming my name. I'm sure you're aware of the shower bit of that statement.
[ Both chuckle ] I think I could sleep for 12 hours. Yeah. I'm gonna check on you in the morning. But if you need me, call me. You need to get some sleep, okay? Okay. Please. Thank you.
[ Knock on door to "shave and a haircut" ] Want me to...? Yeah. Alright.
[ Clears throat ] Hey. Hey, drew. Welcome back. Thanks. Hi. Uh, I thought kim might need a few things. Plus, I brought some burgers from charlie'S. You know, if you want to stick around, there's plenty. Appreciate it. I'm gonna pass. I need to sleep, and it's a good thing you're here.
[ Clears throat ]
[ Door closes ] Hi.
[ Exhales deeply ] Hi. Hi. You know, when we were scattering oscar's ashes... we were so close to the sky. It's like we were returning him to the heavens. Wow. That sounds really beautiful. It was. And now whenever I look into the night sky... I'll see oscar in the stars. Cameron: Hey, so, joss... what is all this stuff? So, just hear me out, okay? I did a bunch of research online, and... ...basically... I'm trying to reach oscar. "Reach"? Like communicate or summon or whatever you want to call it, and I think this could be the way to do it. And by "this," you mean séance? Yes. No wonder. No wonder what? You said you didn't want to worry your parents. Yeah, they'd be worried, joss.
I'm worried. This isn't you. Cameron. No, it isn't! It isn't fair that oscar's gone, and I totally believe that his spirit is out there somewhere, but sitting in your kitchen, trying to talk to him? Well, what's the alternative, cam? No, seriously. What would you like me to do? You have to let him go.
You want to feel closer to oscar? That's awesome. Let's go take a hike or play guitar in oscar's meadow. Th-there's like a million things we can do that he liked. Oh, you don't think I've tried that? From school to the park to the pier to the museum -- I've gone everywhere and done everything that I can think of. And you've never... I don't know... felt his presence or whatever? The only thing i feel is that he should be there and he's not. So obviously, I'm doing something wrong. Or...maybe you're just missing him. Like we all do. No! Oscar said he would reach out. And what if he is and he's just... I don't know. What if he's lost? Is that a thing? I don't know. I just want to give him a chance. I'm in. Really? I think we should do it. I need to find someone who I can trust to do the right thing. And I think that someone is you. How can I say no to that? You can'T.
[ Chuckling ] Okay, okay. I'll do it.
[ Chuckles ] The city of port charles thanks you, but mostly me 'cause you did me a big favor. So when do I start? Ideally, tomorrow morning? Okay. I'll be there. Excellent! Alright, I will alert the department. And hey, looks like we're gonna be seeing more of each other. Temporarily. Temporarily, of course. Alright. Thank you. You're welcome. Hey, mac, do you have a minute? Yes, but that's about all I have. There's somewhere I need to be. I think I might know where that is. And if I'm right, you need to put a stop to it. I love it. It looks good. It does. Yeah. Perfect. There she is. Well, what do you think? It looks great, you guys. Well, you know, you bought the decorations, so... which are perfection, by the way. Apparently "perfection" would've been ninjas and pie. You don't have pie on the menu, do you? Maxie, there's a gorgeous birthday cake sitting in the kitchen that you ordered. Yeah, that was before I knew pie was the preferred dessert. This is a disaster. -No, it's not. -[ Sighs ] Okay, wait a second. Maxie. What's going on? This party, the decorations, the cake -- I just really want peter to like it. He will. How do you know? Sweetheart, because it came from you. You see, jax, this is just a business proposition for you, but it means a lot more to me. Nina is not just my fiancéE. She's my ex-wife.
[ Exhales sharply ] Indicating at one time, there was trouble in paradise. Yeah, we went through a rocky phase, but I'm back in her good graces, and I intend to stay that way.
Crimson is nina's baby. She's 100% invested. Well, that is good to hear. I want to share that with her. A-are you concerned for nina, uh, professionally or... no, no. I'm just saying that this business means very little to you and a great deal to me. That is why I'm willing to pay you a premium for it. Well, I appreciate you being honest with me. And I will be honest with you in return. My reasons for holding onto crimson have nothing to do with money. They're entirely personal.
Josslyn's my only child. I have two more years before she goes off to college. During that time, i would like to live in the same place as her. I understand that, but there are other businesses in port charles. That's true. But aurora was ideally suited, that needed a helping hand. The offices are conveniently located right here in carly's hotel -- a place josslyn frequents. And I can be around the people that I want to be around, with the exception of one or two. So while I respect everything you've said... the answer is no. Okay, jax. I'll up my offer. It wouldn't matter. What do you mean it wouldn't matter? I'm saying name your price. Everyone has a price. You know who you sound like? My brother. Yeah, he also believed that everybody had a price. But sooner or later, you're gonna come across someone that just doesn'T. And that's me. What's going on here? I think we're in good shape. Thank you both so much for helping. -Of course. -We're happy to do it. Mm-hmm. Oh! People are probably gonna be arriving soon. I'm gonna go check things in the kitchen. Okay, everything's ready to go. I will be the judge of that. Okay. Okay, I haven't seen her like this in awhile. She's all nervous and excited, wrapped up in one. Yeah. I wasn't sure about peter in the beginning. Yeah, well, who wouldn't be? But, man, slowly but surely, peter has become a really good friend to me, and I have to tell you, felicia, peter and maxie are so good together. They help each and they -- they make each other better. Yeah, I think so, too. And it's nice to get confirmation. Confirmation on what? -N-nothing. -Nothing.
[ Chuckles ] Oh. Okay. We'll just pretend you weren't talking about me. So the last thing I want is to hurt maxie's feelings. Then don'T. But a surprise party...?
[ Sighs ] Look, it can be embarrassing, maybe even a little uncomfortable, but you're in a room filled with people who care about you, who only want what's good for you. After all these years, don't you deserve to be celebrated? I don't know. Maxie seems to think so. So, if you're not gonna do it for yourself, maybe you show up for her. I just came from the billing department. And the amount is all one big mistake? I wish. But they did say that we could, uh, pay in installments over time, so that's good. -Yeah. -Hey, hey. Hope it's not too late to stop in and say hi. Well, well. Look who's back. Wow. Did you just come from the airport? Something like that. But the real question is -- how are you? I'm good. Thanks to ryan chamberlain. I bet that's a sentence you never thought you'd say. How are you doing? Yeah, right. You must be drained. Uh, well, it was a long trip, for sure, but we did what we needed to do. And now I'm back, so put me to work.
[ Exhales deeply ] Look, I'm responsible for your accident and the reason why you needed a transplant in the first place, so how can I help? Oh. We don't hold you responsible for what happened, drew. Yeah, man, you went blind while driving. It's not exactly your fault. Still, I want to cover the costs. No dice. Really? I mean, seriously? Can you talk some sense into him? I can't do it.
[ Chuckles ] Even if I wanted to, I can'T. You're the owner of a major media company. As commissioner, accepting money from you could easily be construed as a bribe. -But...thank you. -Yeah. The offer is incredibly generous. Okay, how about a counter-offer?
[ Sighs ] You really need to eat something. Yeah, I'm just not that hungry. Your body needs some fuel. I used to say that to oscar. You were a great mom. "Were."
[ Chuckles ] I'm sorry, I -- no. I really didn't mean to -- no, no, no, no, no, no, no. You're right. I was oscar's mom.
[ Inhales deeply ] Now I just don't know who I am. Oh. Hey. Peter, how's it going? Fine. Uh, have you eaten? I'm -- I'm only asking 'cause I thought maybe we could, uh, grab a bite. You were? Yeah, well, actually, to clarify, it was -- anna thought maybe we could spend a little time together, get to know each other a little better. You know what? Sounds like a great idea. Let's get a table. Here? Well, we are in a restaurant. Yes, it is a restaurant. Uh, but I was thinking of something a little more... dive-Y. Um [Clears throat] Dive-y? -No, not dive-Y. The word I was looking for was more "casual". Where'd you have in mind, finn? Oh! [ Exhales heavily ] Let's see. Off the top of my head... the floating rib? Sounds good. Great. I was headed in that direction myself. That's kind of a coincidence. Not really. Seeing as how I own the place. I-I-it's okay. That's right. I-I-I know about the surprise party. Wh-- you do? Yeah. Why the hell didn't you say something sooner? Because I really enjoyed this. Ohh. Well, look, just
[Exhales sharply] Make sure, uh, the word doesn't get out that I'm the one that spilled the beans, alright, 'cause I-I'd never hear the end of it from anna or maxie, and that's its own special kind of torture. I promise I will act surprised. Okay. You were no help.
Your fiancé and i were just chatting. Mm-hmm. About...? Oh, yachts and, you know, this and that. How's the, uh, special project going? Oh, it's great. It's gonna be dynamite. We're already selling ad space. Excellent. Well, I'll leave you to it. It's nice to see you, nina. Have a nice evening. You do the same! You know, that jax, he's just a fantastic guy, isn't he? So why don't you like him? What do you think about coming to work with me at aurora? For real? Doing what? Well, I need a security analyst, and we're about to post the job and I don't think I have to.
[ Scoffs ] Me in an office gig. Oh, come on. You'd be perfect for it. And honestly, it's imperative that I have somebody I trust. And let's face it -- there's not many people I trust more than you. Well, let me think about it, okay? Yeah, sure. Think about it. Just, uh, don't take too long. I won'T. What's the water for? Well, if we see a ripple in the water after we ask a question, then we know oscar heard it.
[ Sighs ] Okay. Are we ready? Let's do it. We gather tonight to open our hearts to the spirit world. We wish to speak with our friend and loved one, oscar nero, who we all miss so greatly. Please, oscar... accept our loving invitation...
[ Stifled laugh ] ...And join us in our circle -- ow! What's going on? Cam just squeezed the crap out of my hand! I'm sorry. I'm sorry. It's just... what? If oscar is really listening to us right now... he's laughing his ass off. He totally is, isn't he?
[ Laughter ] Oh, 100%. Oh, no.
[ Laughter continues ] Surprise! Surprise!Surprise!
[ Laughter ] -What?! -Happy birthday! I thought this place was closed when I saw the lights off! It is. Well, I mean, to the public. Not to us. You mean, you did all this? And you guys were in on it? Well, yeah. Guilty as charged.
[ Laughter ] Maxie, no one's ever thrown me a party before. And now that someone has -- yay or nay? A definite yay.
[ Chuckles ] Ah!
[ Laughter, cheering ] Come on in. Happy birthday. Thank you. Grab a toast.
-Hey. -Hey. I heard you were back. And I heard you were mayor. Congratulations. Thank you. I was just on my way to see monica to rejoin the board. Mm. Will we be working together? Well, now that I'm mayor, I can't be on the board. I had to step back. Oh, that's a pity. I always valued your opinion. What? It's that obvious? Y-y-yeah. I mean, if you want to ask me something, just go for it. Talk to me about valentin cassadine. Okay, you're right. I don't like jax. Why? I just -- I don'T. Because he's coming between us and our wedding. Jax didn't order me to postpone our wedding, valentin. That was my choice. You know how much I care about crimson. It's my baby. I want it to succeed. And I do, as well. Then what's the problem? Nina, listen. You know, there's always an angle for dealing with people. I mean, they're easy to manipulate, or they need money or what-have-you. There's no angle with jax. I can't figure out how to bargain with him. And he has a perfectly legitimate reason for swooping in and picking up half of aurora media. And he's in your way. Yeah, and I hate it. Because I want to marry you. Not in three months. I want to marry you right now. So that's all that you and jax were talking about. Wedding dates? Yeah. And also, I-I tried to buy his half of aurora media. But he turned me down. Well, good for him. Listen, valentin, I think we're gonna have to have that "poor little rich girl" talk. You know the way my parents brought me up. They never let me fail -- ever. Yeah, to make me look good, but only because it made them look good. That gave me a seriously distorted vision of the world. I think you turned out okay. I'm definitely not the person I was before. But you, my love, if you were my boss, you'd "yeah" me to death. All my ideas would be "brilliant" -- your ideas are brilliant. You see? I can't do any wrong in your eyes. And as much as I love that trait in a husband, it's not necessarily the best trait in a boss. I...love you. And I love that you would do anything for me. I'd do anything for you. But I need you to stay out of this. Technically, you got what you wanted. Okay. Curtis left my side for a hot second. But to grab me another smoothie.
[ Laughs ] I swear, I'm drowning in kale.
[ Chuckles ] It's good to see you looking so well. Thank you. And I'm sorry. For what? I hate that we haven't been able to be there for you the last few weeks. Uh... how are you? Really? Um...mm. I don't know, actually. Before, there was all this...momentum. Things to do, goals to meet. And now that it's, um -- that it'S... it's done... ...I don't know what to do next. People talk about how your heart expands when you have a child. It's true. You know, that kind of love... ...it's indescribable. It's immeasurable. I know. I'm so sorry. You know, that healing is just gonna...
[ Sighs ] It's gonna take some time. What does that even mean? You know, I mean... am I healed when I... ...when I no longer feel like a mother? Because that thought terrifies me.
[ Voice breaking ] It'd be like looking in a mirror and just... ...seeing a stranger.
[ Cries ]
[ Laughter ] Remember that time he drank that milkshake and laughed so hard it came out of his nose?
[ Laughs ]
[ Laughs ] I had to take that sweater to the dry cleaner. The ants! O-m-g, the ants!
[ Laughs ] Oh, my god. I almost forgot about that. And he was, like, trying to be all poetic and stuff. He was sitting on a tree stump? No, he was a sitting on a s-- a-a-a stone.
[ Chuckles ] And he was, like, acting like a statue, barely got two chords out when he jumped up and screamed.
[ Laughs ] Well, he didn't scream. It was more of like a yelp. Uh, he had literal ants in his pants.
[ Laughs ] Okay, in his defense, the red ones really hurt. Okay, I never laughed so hard. You guys -- no, come on. No, really nice. You guys! What? There's a ripple in the water.
Peter, whose steady hands delivered our grandson into the world. Felicia and I wish you all the best.
[ Bottles clinking ] Felicia: What he said.
[ Laughs ] Cheers. I guess this would be my turn, and this is -- this is from anna. I won't do the accent. Uh... "to peter, may this birthday and all those ahead be filled with love and joy and happens." -Aww. -Here, here. Yes. -Thank you. To one kick-ass boss.
[ Laughs ] Yeah. Cheers. Well, I just want to say thank you all for -- for being here today, and especially to maxie for throwing together my very first birthday party ever. But definitely not your last. It really is -- it's a new and wonderful feeling for me to look around a room and see people you know really care about you. So, thank you for that. I suggest you get used to it. I plan to.
[ Blows ] -Hey, hey! Yes! -Yay! -Alright. -It wasn't that hard, was it?
[ Laughter ] Lulu: Happy birthday. I think you misunderstand me postponing our wedding. It's not about me delaying marrying you. It's about crimson. Yes! And about me wanting to know that when I marry you, everything is alright. My career, the girls, you and me. Because this time, valentin, when we say our vows, there's not gonna be any secrets, no ticking time bombs. When I marry you... I want to get that family I always wanted. It's gonna be a beautiful september afternoon. It's gonna be perfect. And it's gonna be ours. I think you know how I feel about valentin cassadine after what he did to nikolas. Yes. Okay. He's bad news, jax. Plain and simple. Now, I-I'd say proceed with caution, but I think it's best not to proceed at all. Well, thank you. That is very informative. You're not gonna take my advice, are you? It's -- it's just a little late 'cause we're already involved. Oh. Well, in that case, I hope you don't live to regret it. Well, I have a feeling I-I'm not gonna be the one regretting anything. I'm gonna go freshen up. Hurry back.
[ Cellphone rings ] Curtis ashford. Curtis, it's valentin. Listen, I have a job, and I only trust you to do it. I'm listening. I want you to find out everything you can on jasper jacks. And that's about the time I realized the kid couldn't even walk.
[ Laughs ] Oh, no.
[ Chuckling ] Uh, yeah, I know. I know how it sounds, but he didn't want to tell me. Yeah, 'cause he didn't want to disappoint you. I know. I know. It was -- it was the first hike we were going to take, but, uh... thank god there were a lot more before, you know... I'm glad. Yeah, me, too. Hey, thank you. For what? It's just nice to... talk about oscar how he was. You know, remember the -- the good things and not just focused on the fact that he... is no longer here. Yeah. How's kim holding up? Uh, truthfully, not -- not so good. Um, she's lost, you know?
[ Sighs ] And she's having a hell of time finding her way back. You know, what I need has been -- it's been right in front of me this whole time. What's that? I love you, charlie. I love you. Make a baby with me. Oscar, is that you?
[ Indistinct noise in distance ]
[ Insects chirping ] Did you see anything? No. Trina: You know what? I think it worked. You do? I mean, I don't know if oscar was actually outside, but... us hanging out, just being friends, you laughing -- that's what oscar wants. For you to be happy. For you to be okay. Or maybe it was just a breeze.
[ All chuckle ] Who knows? Thank you guys for doing this with me. I'm sorry for wasting your night. Who said it was a waste? We'll talk tomorrow? Definitely. Go out the front. Are you sure? Yeah. Yeah, I'm sure.
[ Sighs ] Bye.
