(This still needs extensive editing)I'm staying. Yeah? Yeah. Oh, my god! I...I'm sorry. Don't apologize. I liked it.
[ Chuckles ] So did I. It's just, uh -- gosh, that's -- that's great news. Uh, what made you -- what made you change your mind? Elizabeth? Nina. Uh, I just wanted to tell you that I was so happy to hear that franco was exonerated. I knew he was innocent all along.
[ Sighs ] I'm not sure he realized that. I know I didn'T. Um...look. I know things have been tense between us because of what happened between charlotte and aiden. You mean charlotte bullying aiden. Well, okay, um, hopefully... we can put that all behind us and, uh, create a fresh, new start, especially now that ms. Tait is leaving. Charlotte! What a nice surprise! Hi. Hey. We were just doing some power shopping, wanted to bring by one of her, uh, purchases. It's a welcome-home present for dante. Is he here? Hey. That's on the house.
[ Clears throat ] I'm sorry. I didn't mean to startle you. No, uh... not at all, carly. It's good to see you. Good to see you. You were gone way too long. Feels that way, yeah.
I want to get out of here. Where are we going? Well, I was thinking we could check a few things off our list. Eckert's, for sure, and then maybe the ballroom at the metro court.
[ Chuckles ] Okay, you must have put that on the list. I did not. Look. It's right here in your handwriting. "Perform at the nurses' ball." Mm-hmm. Which is weeks away. Right, um... but the ballroom is free today -- no events, no weddings -- I already checked. So I was thinking maybe we could plan out our act. Unless...you're not feeling up to it. I'm actually feeling pretty good. Okay. Okay, great. Um, do -- do we have everything? Oh, wait. Uh... you've got to -- you've got to put this on. Here.
[ Sighing ] Right. In case of another seizure. Hey, it doesn't look that bad.
[ Chuckling ] Kind of looks like a watch. Yeah, except it doesn't tell time. It doesn't have to. So, as you saw, the lab results indicate that oscar's tumor has become more aggressive. Terry says, uh... we probably only have a couple of weeks. Oh. I really was hoping for more time.
[ Chuckles ] We all were.
[ Sighing ] Well... I guess we're at the point now, then, uh... we have to prepare oscar for the end. I thought it over, and you were right. If I run now, I will be running for the rest of my life. The only way to deal with shiloh is to face him down, to prove to him -- and to myself -- that he has no power over me. And you're not in it alone. I'm gonna do everything I can to protect you. Thank you. I know you mean that in the best and most generous way. But I cannot rely on anyone... or you to protect me, okay? I-I have to protect myself. All right. I completely respect that. I respect you. Thank you. So you do whatever it is you think is right. You face him down, prove your independence. Just know that I got your back. Lucky me. Mm-hmm. I'm so sorry. Dante is not home to open your present. That's okay. I can you what it is if you promise not to tell him. Okay, I promise. Tell me. It's "monopoly" since the old one is missing so many pieces. It's brand-new, and you and me and dante and rocco can all play. That is a great idea.
[ Chuckles ] Charlotte h-has been telling me how much she misses "family game night" since dante's been gone. Yeah. We all do. I tell you what. Dante can wait to open your present until next week when you're here, and then we'll all play "monopoly" together. Great. In the meantime, this little one has a birthday party to get to this afternoon.
[ Clears throat ] I wanted to wear my pink sweater. Can I go get it? Of course, go right ahead. Thanks for bringing her by. And for taking her shopping... it was pretty much her idea, and she cares about dante. Glad he's home. I think her exact words were, "maybe mommy will smile a little bit more now." So, I know your mom is over the moon that you're back. And she had a big party for you? Yeah, yeah, she did. That's great. I'm sorry sonny and i couldn't make it. Ah, it's no worries. I know you guys are busy. And, uh, congratulations, by the way. Sonny told me you're having another baby. Yes. [ Laughs ] A very unexpected, amazing surprise, yeah. A new life. A fresh start. Hopefully get it right. We'd all be lucky to have that chance. -Hey! -Hey. Oh, it's so good to see you. I just wanted to stop by and tell you that everything's okay and nothing to worry about. Okay, good. Dante. Welcome home. Yeah. Thanks. It's good to be back. I have to tell you, sonny's pretty proud that he was able to rescue you when the wsb couldn'T.
[ Laughs ] It was a complex operation. Yeah, sonny told me that he had to dress up as a guard and that dante and sonny were on their way out the door and then some kid showed up, right? It was some kid that sonny saw at the cafe, and he was picking someone's pocket. And then, uh, well, he was --
[ Clatter ]
Dante. Just let go of the knife. Come on. Just let go of the knife. Dante, it's okay. It was just a service tray. Everything's fine. Stand down.
[ Knife slides ] Um... I'm -- I'm sorry. I'm -- I'm sorry. It's okay. It's okay.
[ Cutting board slides ] I-I heard... I heard a crash.
[ Breathing shakily ] You okay? Yeah, I'm fine. I apologize. It's okay. Don't worry about it. You were undercover... for months. You're allowed to be a little shaky, okay? I guess I'm not, uh... acclimated yet. I gotta... I gotta get outta here. Sorry. Are you -- are you sure? Well, why don't you stay and have something to eat? No, I gotta go call somebody. I'm sorry.
[ Sighs ] Hey, it's dante. Uh, please give me a call when you get a chance. I have a problem... I sent you some information on the high achiever program. Did you get it? I did get the e-mail. I need to set aside some time to go over it in depth. Well, it's pretty straightforward. She more than qualifies. I believe that charlotte is every bit as intelligent as her father. I do. But she's just a little girl. I think it's too soon to start pushing her to be a "high achiever"... and I think that charlotte is bored in school and that is why she's getting into mischief. Then it's her parents' responsibility to keep her on track. Yes, lulu, her "parents" with an "S." That includes nina, that includes dante, and we have to find a way to accommodate each other while putting charlotte first. I don't trust you as far as I can throw you. But I do believe, in your own way, you put charlotte first. Wouldn't be here if I didn'T.
[ Footsteps approaching ] Got it! Hey, uh, we gotta get going. Say goodbye to your mother. Bye, mom.
[ Chuckles ] Bye, sweetie. Have fun at the party.
[ Chuckles ] Make sure to tell dante I can't wait to say "welcome home" in person. Oh, I have to go see someone... about alex? No. It's completely unrelated. Robert said he's gonna stop by. Okay.
[ Elevator bell dings ] Yeah. It's -- I-I-I got him to expedite some research for me. Uh-huh. Oh! There he is. Oh, on time. Uh, kind of. So... I need to ask a favor. Wait, that's done. I mean, alex has a lovely room with a view at steinmauer. I-I know. She knew that. W-well, if she knew it, why am I -- bec-- I-I-I would like you to do some research for me. It's on an old case. You're gonna have to go to london and dig through the files in the basement of the office there. Go on. Yeah, anything that you can unearth [Sighs deeply] About an op that involved a boris mikhailov. Why does that name ring a bell? He was a scientist, um...and he was defecting and he got ambushed in east berlin. Wait a minute. Yeah, I remember. You were the courier on that gig. Was I? Alex claims that she was. And that that was the memory that was transferred by cabot to me. Well...it's a fairly unimportant memory. Does it matter? Yes! Of course it matters. He was a lovely old man. He died right in front of me. Or he died right in front of alex, and I need to know which it was. This is really starting to eat at you, isn't it?
[ Elevator bell dings ] B-because I want to know the truth of my own life!
[ Sighs ] Sorry. I'll see you later. Yeah.
[ Elevator doors close ] You're right, you know. This thing with alex -- whether the memory is real -- it'S... it's getting to her. Listen, I know that ms. Tait had her supporters, but honestly, I believe this is a blessing in disguise. How so? Okay, whatever happened between aiden and charlotte -- it's pretty clear what happened. Okay, okay, but the fact remains that with a more focused, experienced teacher, that would've been nipped in the bud, like, the second day of school. Right? I just think the kids are better off with a replacement. Okay, I don't understand. Are you saying that she's -- she's gonna be leaving at the end of the school year? Oh, no. She handed in her resignation yesterday. Well, that doesn't make any sense. She's supposed to be meeting me here right now. So why would she do that if she was planning on leaving? Oh! I have to get going! Uh...no problem. This is me not infringing on your independence. It's nice that I know you mean that.
[ Chuckles ] Don't get me wrong. I want to spend as much time together as we can, but I know your situation with shiloh was extremely traumatic, and I never want to make you feel pressured or controlled in any -- hey. Hey, hey, hey. If I start to feel pressured in any way at all, I will definitely let you know. But I can already tell that's not your style. Oh. You know my style. I'm learning it little by little. Willow. I'm glad you're staying. Me, too.
Good afternoon. Can I interest either of you in a book or a magazine? You're pushing the book cart? Yeah, community service takes many forms. I begged my supervisor to let me make up some hours before I see judge carson. When does that happen? A couple hours. This might be the last time you see me as a free man. Oh, don't joke.
[ Sighs ] Look, maybe we could just come to court with you and explain to judge carson. That's okay. I learned the first time that judge carson is not interested in excuses. I'm just gonna tell her that I've already started making up the hours, and just throw myself on her mercy. I'm really sorry. We should've never dragged you onto this road trip in the first place. Joss, don't rewrite history. I was the one who wanted to get out of port charles. And now, since you're clearly being discharged, I'll go peddle my books to some other patients. Before you take off... there's something I need to tell you. Have you discussed options for palliative care? Well, um... terry brought it up to us a few months ago, but... ...it just seemed too soon. And when I hear the term "palliative care," I, uh...
[ Chuckles ] I think of a little, old person who's tired and frail and needs the help because... they've used all their life up because they lived it. I don't think of a kid... whose life got cut short. I know. I know. This is really unfair. But, guys, I've seen the tests. And that tumor is going to affect his cognitive awareness and his emotional responses.
[ Alarm beeping ] I'm sorry, um... um... I-I have a patient that, um... hey, okay. I'm s-- I just -- I, um... just go. I've got this. I-I just have to consult with the attending. It's okay. Okay. All right. Thank you.
[ Door opens, closes ] So, um... I know you were being really strong for oscar and his mom. But how are you doing?
[ Inhales deeply ] Okay. No, you're not. You're not okay. You wouldn't be human if you were okay. Ms. Tait has really helped aiden. I find it hard to believe that she would just resign without notice. Well, valentin and I stopped by the classroom yesterday, and she told us herself, so... I am so sorry I'm late.
[ Clears throat ] Uh, well... have a seat. Uh, you and elizabeth will have a lot to talk about, I'm sure. Excuse me. Sorry again. I've just been handling a bunch of stuff, and the time got away from me. Like "moving" kind of stuff? Is it true you're leaving port charles elementary? Nope. I'm not going anywhere. Thank you, thank you, thank you! You're welcome.
[ Door closes ] What did I do? You saved me from having to read over the e-mails on the high achiever program. That sounds intimidating.
[ Groans ] Valentin wants to enroll charlotte, and you know what? He's probably right. Academically, she is ready, but the whole reason that we put her in P.C. Elementary was so that she could be a normal child in a normal classroom. But I don't want to be the parent that deprives their child of their shot at the ivy league! Wait, wait, hold on. Charlotte's what, like, 8? Don't you have a few years before you have to worry about that? That is exactly what I told her father.
[ Sighs ] God, I just don't want to get into another fight with valentin. Relax, okay. You have backup now that -- now that dante's home.
[ Exhales sharply ] Dante? Hi. Yeah. Thanks for coming. Of course. I'm so happy to see you. Yeah. What's going on? Uh, well... I-I took my grandfather to the metro court for breakfast. Mm-hmm. You know, it was really nice. You know, we -- we talked. And -- and it was interesting. You know, here's this man who's slipping away, but I felt like he could really hear me. I don't know, maybe... maybe my guard was down with him. I don't know, but... anyway, I took him back to turning woods, and instead of going home, which I should've done, I stopped at the metro court and... had a drink at the bar and -- and started talking to carly and jason, and there was a loud crash -- a noise -- and the -- and the next thing I know, jason and I are -- are, uh, wrestling over a knife. You don't remember picking up the knife? No, I don't remember picking it up, I don't remember what I was gonna do with it, but jason was obviously worried to the point where he felt he had to stop me. You think you're suffering from ptsd? I think ptsd is -- is the least of my worries. I think I've been brainwashed.
I'm sorry about that. I had to take care of something at the front desk. No, it's -- it's fine. Are you -- are you working too hard? Is that what's going in here? No! I'm fine. Wish I could say the same thing about dante. Wow. That was weird! Yeah. Yeah, it was the noise that set him off. I don't even think he was aware of...
[ Sighs ] ...Of what was going on. Does sonny realize that dante's struggling? Well, he's mentioned a few times that dante went through a lot when he was undercover, but then he backs off of the subject, so... hmm. I don't know. Should we tell sonny what's going on? I don't know. I think dante's aware that there's a problem. We should just maybe give him a chance to solve it. Well, speaking of problems... yeah. ...What were you thinking taking a swing at shiloh? I didn'T. I grabbed him by the throat and shoved his head into a wall. Why? Because I want him to know how easy it would be... for me to make him disappear. "Can you hear the waters whispering?"
[ Sighs ] W-what is that? Oh, it's A... it was a trigger phrase... used on me. You? Yeah. I was brainwashed a long time ago. It was early in my career, and, um...it was horrible. It's -- it's -- it's such a violation of who you are as a person, and you can't rebel against it because you don't remember anything. See, I do. I remember, like, bits and pieces. Yeah. Raj used a lot of interrogation techniques. He wanted to break me down. Prove that... that I was trustworthy. You've been programmed to perform a task, something that you don't even know about. And raj or one of his representatives, they will... feed you a trigger. It can be a phrase or a -- an image and then they will give you the mission and it will be over and you won't remember a thing about it. I think I was supposed to kill someone. Do you know who? No. But I have this dream. I'm in the bedroom, and I'm loading the gun, and I'm screwing on the silencer and the whole while, I'm saying the words, "I will complete the mission." And then lulu walks in. And she sees what I'm doing and she's not supposed to see me, so I shoot her point-blank. And then that's it. Then -- then I'm awake. And I told myself that -- that -- that it's just a dream and that I can get it under control. But I can'T. Anna, I'm not in control right now. And I'm getting worse. I should've texted you before I came over. Oh, no. You're always welcome. Besides, you gave me valuable insight into my daughter's academic future.
[ Chuckles ] Yeah. Uh, my actual hope was to talk to dante -- see when we could get him back at work. Right. Um... he's had so much going on, so many people to see. I-I don't think he's even had a chance to think about when he'll be back to work. That doesn't sound like dante. The only thing he loves more than being a detective is you and the kids. So if you could please encourage him to pick up the badge sooner rather than later... I'll tell him. Um, good luck planning your daughter's "academic career." Thanks. Have a good one.
[ Chuckles ]
[ Door closes ] S-s-so when nina said you were leaving, that was just wishful thinking on her part? I did tell mr. Cassadine and ms. Reeves that I was leaving. I've been dealing with a personal situation... oh, I'm sorry. Is there anything I can do? Thank you, but I'm handling it. Anyway, I realized quitting a job I love wouldn't solve anything. I assume ms. Tait is telling elizabeth she's resigning? Look at that. It's like watching a tea party with two porcelain dolls.
[ Laughing ] Nina... I'll tell you something, women like that -- women like that who act so helpless and frail, know what they really are? Passive-aggressive and manipulative. And when someone calls them -- actually, when someone like me calls them out, what am I? I'm a bully, and I'm being mean and insensitive to poor, little them. Well, if it's any consolation, some men find strong women sexy and irresistible. Well, some men have taste. Well, I'm really glad you're staying. Aiden needs you more than ever. Is aiden being bullied again? It's not as overt as what charlotte did, but it's still hurts. Every kid in the class was invited to bianca's birthday party except aiden. But...bianca is aiden's best friend. According to bianca's, um, narrow-minded mother, he is now her, uh, ex-best friend. My son is being singled out because of what some people perceive to be his gender identity. And if that's not bullying, then I-I don't know what is.
She left danny alone with a cult leader? Shiloh orchestrated the whole thing. I don't care! I don't care. Shiloh could've told danny lies. He could've gotten into his head. He could've manipulated him. And that's exactly why I wanted to make sure that shiloh does not approach my son again.
[ Sighs ] So what happened? So, sam and danny left, I waited for that, I stopped shiloh out in front of kelly's, and I told him to stay away from danny. And of course, he gets right in my face, and he starts talking all his cult crap that he does.
[ Sighs ] He was baiting you. Yeah, and I let him. I let him. He kept getting closer. And I said, "don't touch me." And when he did, I took him down. So the assault charge was valid? Yeah, I mean, it's nothing diane can't handle. But she didn't have to because shiloh decided to "forgive" me. Right. And sam was there to watch. Of course.
[ Chuckles ] Okay, I'm sure sam thinks that she's manipulating shiloh, but shiloh is manipulating sam. He already had you arrested, and now he's trying to approach your son? Come on! And now he knows that I can take him out... at any time.
[ Sighs ] Look, shiloh is far from beaten. But he knows to be afraid. And that's a good place to start. Assuming I don't get shipped off to juvie, do you want me to drive your car back from niagara? I mean, as far as I know, you guys took the helicopter back and it's still up there. I mean, if trina wants, all four of us can go back down and we could do another road trip, legit this time. We could take the bus up and drive the car back down. And while we're at it, we could actually see niagara falls. The weather's getting warmer, so it won't be freezing. That'd be great... but, um... y-you don't trust me behind the wheel. I trust you, cam. It's just that... I can't take any more road trips. That was given to me by the board of directors for, uh, years of meritorious service. It's very nice. Is there something you want me to do with this? Yeah. I want you to throw it against the wall. I want you to, uh, throw it out the window, just as long as you don't hit anybody. But break something, drew. Break something before all that pain that's bottled up inside you breaks you! Thank you. But breaking this isn't gonna help my son, it's not gonna give him another day on this earth, and it's certainly not gonna make it easier for me to say goodbye. So I pass. [ Sighs ] Look, I... I wish -- I wish I had advice for you. I don'T. The only thing I can say is you've just... gotta see it through... when the time comes. The time's here. He's dying, and there's not a thing I can do about it. Yeah, but you can still talk to him. You can touch him, you can squeeze his hand -- do all of that. Treasure every single moment you have no matter how brief. Yeah...
[ Door opens ] Hey. False alarm. I sent the mother home. The baby isn't ready to be born. Huh. Uh... well, I'm glad you're back. I... I would l-like to suggest something. I...I know we all want oscar to have the best care possible when he can't care for himself. Oscar's been very clear. He doesn't want to spend his last days in a hospital bed. Well, I don't blame him. I wouldn't want that, either. No, he needs to be surrounded by people that love him and care for him and will see him through this every step of the way. And I think I can offer that. I would like oscar to come and stay at the quartermaine house. I'd like to, uh, speak with you about anna. Okay. Uh, well, she's a pretty incredible woman, but... she's emotionally damaged. She can't fall in love. She'll never ask for a commitment. She won't ask you to make any promises. Listen, robert, I, uh -- I appreciate this. I-I-I do, but it's really none of your b-business. I-I -- I-it is. Because of the family. You see [Sighs] The family -- they want her happy, I want her happy, and you -- you have this ability to make her happy. But just as that's starting to happen, well, her past will come back to bite her. So in about five minutes, she's gonna come in here and push you away, but what are you gonna do? You're gonna beat her to the punch. So you...want me to break up with anna? Oh. Man, you really are an idiot, aren't you? The good news is that you recognize something was done to you. Well, the first step is admitting you have a problem. Yeah. The second step is gonna be even more painful. Y-you're gonna have to address this. Address this how? I don't know what I was programmed to do or what the trigger is -- if it's a phrase, if it's an image, a-a specific date. I mean, what happens if someone innocent gets hurt? Or what if -- what if someone I love I-is caught in the way? Okay. You're gonna have to be treated by experts in -- in a secure environment. What do you mean, like a prison? No, no. It's -- it's an estate in wales. It's actually...nice. It's -- it's very remote, um, but your movements will be restricted. How restricted? No, just to the grounds. I mean, you're not gonna be locked in a cell or tied to a chair. And you're speaking from personal experience? I was there. It's like going to rehab, but the stay is open-ended. Lots of talk therapy and behavior modification and that kind of thing. They're not gonna... reprogram me to their objectives? No. No. They're gonna give you tools that will help set you free from raj's influence. You understand? But you're gonna be digging around in your psyche, and that's never a good time. You're gonna have to confront who you are as opposed to... who you thought you were. I can't wait. I'll make the arrangements. I think you should leave as soon as possible.
This changes everything. I really need to get going. I have an appointment with my oldest son. Well, I am glad you told me that aiden was left out of bianca's party. I'll be monitoring the situation in class. Thank you. Your support means everything to aiden. It is not enough for me to support tolerance in the classroom. I have to get more involved in the community. And if certain people don't like it? Too bad. I am so glad you're his teacher. And you're sticking around to set a good example for him. Thanks again for meeting me. Of course. Finally, I can relax. I could see her judgmental smirk from like 50 miles away. Well, fortunately, charlotte is moving up to the high achiever program, where she'll have nothing to do with aiden.
[ Sighs ] Elizabeth will be firmly out of your orbit. Thank goodness. And, uh, ms. Tait is packing to get out of town. Yay.
[ Chuckles ]
[ Clears throat ] Hi. I wanted you both to know that I will be staying on at port charles elementary. What...happened to the "family emergency"? It's been addressed. I hope that we can consider this a restart for everyone. Well, I think that's pretty unlikely. You've expressed a clear bias against my fiancée and my daughter. Things got heated, and I may have overstated my point -- overstated? You accused me of failing charlotte. You said to me that she didn't stand a chance with me in her life. With all due respect, ms. Tait, you messed with the wrong stepmother, and I'm going to see to it that your days at that school are numbered. As much as I want oscar home with me, I know that the quartermaine house can offer him the care and the comfort that he needs. Oh, the invitation is for both you and oscar. There's plenty of room, and I wouldn't dream of -- of separating you two, especially not now. Thank you, monica. It's a really -- it's, uh, such a lovely gesture. I can't really be the one to accept it. It's gotta be oscar's choice. You're right. This is oscar's journey. He gets to decide just what path he wants to take.
[ Oscar sighs ] I'm in what they call the "end-stage." I'm gonna die in a month... maybe sooner. The doctor's sure? They, um, told us last night. And honestly, I... can feel it. You know, I tire easily. My coordination is completely shot. I got dizzy when josslyn was tying my shoes. So, uh, are you guys doing something or just going home? Actually, I think we're just gonna go home. Um, we're actually going to eckert'S... if you wanna come with. Oscar, he has court. I've got half an hour. And eckert's isn't that far from the courthouse. Besides... it could be my last sugar cookie for a long time.
[ Chuckles ] Let's do it. Let's do it. Okay, easy, easy.
[ Sighs ] So, are walking or ubering? Uh...let's just start out walking, and we can uber if we need to. I'm all about contingency plans these days... you just said anna will push me away unless I beat her to the punch. You said that. That's what you said.
[ Stammering ] By putting your heart on the line. No, tell her that you love her. Tell her that her background doesn't matter. Tell her whatever goofy platitude pops into your head. But remember this -- she's not gonna grovel to you.
[ Elevator bell dings ] That's anna devane. And you do the groveling. I... hi. Why aren't you on the way to london? I'm going. Good. I-I'm -- I'm going. And I had to tell you... yes. ...That you've got the right guy here to find the file. Bobby is the best. Y-yes. Oh, and one more thing. Hmm? Uh... call our granddaughter.
[ Elevator bell dings ] She won some prize for her pooch. She wants to tell you in person. Okay. Bye. Safe travels. He's the strangest ex-husband, you know? Hmm. I mean, he's a lovely man, but... never tell him I said that, right? Your secret is safe with me. Yep. Hey. Hmm? Oh. What's that for? Does there have to be a reason? No. [ Chuckles ] Oh, just a second.
[ Paper rustling ]
[ Sighs ]
[ Chuckles ] Thank you. Hmm, you're a very handy guy to have around. You know that? Hey. Did something happen? It's, uh... it's hard to explain. It's okay. Take your time. We're out of time, baby. I have to leave.
