Robin: Hey.

[Telephone rings, elevator door beeps]

Robin: I feel like I was just here with Mac and Maxie after Georgie died.

Anna: Oh.

Robin: Grieving her. [Exhales sharply]

Anna: I'm sure you were a great support.

Robin: No, I don't think I was. Not at all. I mean, Maxie was torturing herself for being a bad sister. And all I could muster was "you have to keep going because that's what Georgie would want".

Anna: And you did.

Robin: What am I going to say to her today? I mean, how many times can you tell someone to keep going before they stop hearing it?

Griffin: Hey. Hey, hey. I'm sorry I'm late.

Robin: No, it's fine.

Anna: Well, let's just do this, shall we?

Griffin: Thank you. I'm sorry, I'm just -- I'm still reeling over Nathan and Maxie, all this. I'm a mess, aren't I?

Anna: I think we all are. We lost a good man. And a great friend.

Griffin: Yeah. Shall we?

Anna: Oh, yeah, sure. Thanks. Robin?

Robin: Thank you.

Griffin: All right.

Maxie: It's okay. I'm all right. You don't have to keep holding me up.

Felicia: Frisco called this morning. He can't get away.

Mac: I'm sorry.

Maxie: It's okay. That's Dad, right? Off saving the world? Nathan would be the first to understand that.

Sam: Hey, Maxie...

Maxie: We need to get going. I don't want to leave Nathan's mom and sister hanging.

[Organ music plays]

Nina: Thank you for coming, Bobbie.

Bobbie: I'm so sorry for your loss. Nathan was a great man.

Nina: He was.

[Amy writes her name in funeral guestbook]

Lulu: Curtis.

Curtis: Hey, Lulu.

Lulu: Hey, I never thanked you for driving me over to the hospital that night.

Curtis: Well, you did, but not that you needed to. I was just glad I could do something. Anything really.

Lulu: You could help me again. Would you sit with me? Dante'll be with the other officers.

Curtis: So will Jordan. Yeah, maybe we can help each other.

Valentin: Why don't you take a break?

Nina: Don't I have to greet people?

Valentin: The only rules at a funeral are the ones the family makes up.

Nina: Oh. It's the only tribute I can pay my brother. I'm going to do it right.

Dr. Obrecht: Nathan broke his arm when he was in the fourth grade. My sister -- my sister told me he was in a cast for months. I wish I could have seen him. Done something for him. But I was half a world away. I've never been there for my son.

Sam: I'm going to go pick up Drew. And I'll meet you at the church.

Maxie: Thank you for being here to help out.

Sam: I'm here for you today, tomorrow, and every day after. I love you. Okay.

Felicia: You have a lot of friends. A lot of people that love you that will come running when you need them.

Maxie: I'm really lucky.

Felicia: Honey, I only meant --

Maxie: I know. Dad's probably waiting for us with the car.

Felicia: I'll go check.

[Door closes]

Maxie: I still have a couple of things to get. You don't have to stay.

Damian: As you wish. Um, before I depart, I -- I have something for you. From Georgie.

Maxie: What?

Damian: This. She said to tell you that she loves her mommy.

Maxie: Tell my mom and Mac that I'll be right down?

Damian: Certainly.

[Door opens]

[Door closes]

[Knock on door]

Maxie: You know, we don't have to be at the airport three hours before my flight, right? You are not Mac.

Nathan: No, I'm not. [Chuckles]

Maxie: Well, then, who are you?

Maxie: Please, please come back to me. [Sighs] How do I do this? How do I go on without him?

Georgie: Any way you can.

[Organ music plays]

Dr. Obrecht: Thank you for coming.

Liz: I'm sorry for your loss. I'm going to sit down.

Franco: Okay. Of all the people to arrest me, Nathan was the most gentle.

Dr. Obrecht: He had a light touch. I wish you didn't have to see me like this.

Franco: I wish you didn't have to feel like this.

Nina: [Sighs]

Robin: Mom?

Anna: Just give me a moment. Um, I'll be right there. Did you lose something?

Nina: Yeah, a light.

Anna: You smoke?

Nina: I quit up until a couple days ago.

Anna: Oh, Nina --

Nina: Um... you know, here, can you just take those and put them somewhere and trash them?

Anna: You sure?

Nina: Yeah, I don't want Charlotte to see me with them. I'll just -- I'm good. I'll make do.

Anna: I know you will. You have that in common with your brother. Must be a family trait. Um, I'm going to throw these in a hole and then I'm going to throw away the hole. Okay?

Nina: Thanks.

Peter: It's bad.

Maxie: Nathan? Stay with me, okay? Stay with me.

Lulu: Peter? You made it.

Peter: Hey. I wanted to pay my respects.

Lulu: Oh, I'm sure the family will appreciate that.

Peter: How is Maxie doing?

Lulu: I haven't talked to her since Nathan. She hasn't wanted to see anyone.

Maxie: I'm so over this, Georgie. I'm so over saying "goodbye".

Georgie: I know.

Maxie: I was always meant to lose Nathan. He was too good to be true. Too good for me, certainly.

Georgie: You think that about everyone. You set the bar way too low.

Maxie: Nathan would've cleared it a mile high. Tried not to get too close to him. Told myself not to care that it would end badly, like it always does. But, Nathan wouldn't listen to me. Now, I'm here and he's gone.

Georgie: He's not gone.

Maxie: Don't. I don't want to hear any of those clichés about how he's still living on in my memories and in my heart.

Georgie: He's in your child. You're having his baby.

Maxie: [Voice breaking] Without him.

Georgie: There's no way around it.

Maxie: Only through? I wish I never met him.

Georgie: Liar.

Maxie: I just want the pain to stop.

Georgie: I know it hurts now, but, Maxie, would you give up four years of happiness? Would Nathan? Look, without you, he would never know the joys of being handcuffed to someone who drove him crazy and you would've never learned to give a good striptease, never fallen in love or received the blessing of knowing he'd be a father.

Maxie: He would have been a really good dad, too.

Georgie: Yeah.

Maxie: I think that you would've liked him.

Georgie: He loved you, so I love him.

Maxie: He was a hero, you know. He saved me a little bit every day.

Georgie: You never needed anyone to save you. You've always had what you needed inside. [Chuckles] Nathan knew that. So, prove him right. Show him what you've got. It's time.

Maxie: [Sniffles] [Sniffles] [Sniffles] [Sniffles]

[Keys jingle]

[Police officers walk in with Nathan's coffin, Maxie, Felicia, and Mac follow along with Liesl Obrecht and Nina]

[Maxie, Felicia, and Mac gaze at Nathan's body, Maxie cries and Mac salutes]

Nina: Here's a story about my little brother. When he was a kid, I always knew him from the sound of the jingle of change in his pockets. I knew I would never lose him on our countless trips to the Museum of Natural History 'cause I could hear him all the way on the other side of the blue whale, which was his favorite exhibit. J wouldn't let as much as a penny go by. And at the beginning of the day, his pants would sag with the weight of all the change in his pocket. And then, by the end of the day, it would be gone. And I asked -- finally, I asked, and I said, "J, what do you buy with that money". And he just laughed and he said, "I'm not buying anything. I'm giving the money away". And he was. He was giving all of his money away. He was giving it to the guy who didn't have a home, would camp out on the street on our corner. And he'd give it to all the musicians in the subway. He would just take handfuls of coins and he would just throw them in their jar. And then, he would always say, to them, he'd say, "I don't have any more money, but tomorrow, I'm going to come back and I'm going to give you more". That's who my brother was. He was a giver. He gave his coins. He gave his word. He gave his time. He gave his advice. He gave himself. He gave when he was needed and he gave when he wasn't. Finally, in the end, he gave his life. My brother's generosity was just a sliver of who he was. He was so many beautiful things. He touched so many people's lives, conferred each with a story. I gave you my story. Maybe you can give me yours. So, if I just come up to you and I just beg -- [Voice breaking] If I just beg a moment of your time. If you could just tell me a story about my brother. If you don't mind. [Clears throat] He was a man of action, not words. Maybe there's something that we could do. Could just give. Anything to anyone in need. And I think that's the way that you would keep my brother's soul alive in you.

[Coins jingle]

Dante: The policeman stood and faced his God, which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shining just as brightly as his brass. "Step forward now, policeman. How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek? To my church, have you been true". The policeman squared his shoulders and said, "well, Lord, I guess I ain't because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint. I've had to work most Sundays, and at times, my talk was rough, and sometimes I've been violent because the streets are awfully tough. But, I never took a penny. That wasn't mine to keep. Though I worked a lot of overtime when the bills got just too steep, and I never passed a cry for help, though, at times, I shook with fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I wept unmanly tears. I know I don't deserve a place among the people here. They never wanted me around, except to calm their fear. If you have a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much. But if you don't, I'll understand". There was a silence all around the throne when the saints had often trod, as the policeman waited quietly for the judgment of his God. "Step forward now, policeman. You've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on heaven's streets. You've done your time in hell".

Maxie: [Sniffles]

[Bagpipes and drum play "Amazing Grace"]

[People lay white roses on Nathan's coffin and hug Maxie and her family]

[Music stops]

[Wind blowing]

Maxie: [Sniffles] [Exhales sharply] I don't -- I don't really know what to say. Not really thinking straight. What else is new, right? I love you, Nathan. [Sniffles] I always will. You saw the best in me. [Sniffles] You made me demand more of myself. Even when it hurt. You made me want to be better. [Sniffles] I can't -- I can't promise you that I'm going to succeed without you here to keep me honest. But I promise you I will try. I guess I need to let you go now. [Sniffles]

[Purse unzips]

Maxie: Not without this. [Sniffles] [Sniffles]

Maxie: We're going to miss you so much. [Sighs heavily] Georgie, please take care of him.

[Indistinct chatter]

Damian: I-I'd like to say something in Nathan's honor. As -- as good of a human being as I've ever known. I... [Chuckles] I guess today, words fail me. You know, but as a parent, you learn to communicate in all different ways. So sometimes, when I can't find the words to speak, I find the words in song. ♪Oh, Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes, are calling. From glen to glen, and down the mountainside. The summer's gone, and all the flowers dying♪

Amy: ♪Tis you, tis you must go, and I must bide♪

Both: ♪But come ye back, when summer's in the meadow. Or when the valley's hushed, and white with snow. Tis I'll be here, in sunshine or in shadow. Oh, Danny boy, Oh, Danny boy, I love you so♪

Lulu: Maxie, I'm so sorry about Nathan. For your loss.

Maxie: You should be.

Lulu: What?

Maxie: I said, "you should be sorry". You killed him.

On the next "General Hospital" --

Drew (to Franco): Are you avoiding me?

Kim (to Julian): I'm sure he would die if I referred to us as a couple.

Oscar (to Josslyn): Take care of it Joss, and hurry.

Damian (to Anna): It seems as if Henrik's trail is as cold as Faison himself.

Peter (to Nathan's grave): I'm truly sorry that your luck ran out.

Maxie (to Lulu): You took everything from me.
