Nelle: I-I can't believe this. When -- when did you decide to buy my apartment?

Michael: As soon as you told me the building was going co-op. So... what do you think?

Nelle: I think I can't accept.

Carly: Can you please explain something to me? How is it two of the most cynical people on the planet managed to raise a son who will trust anyone who knocks on his door?

Sonny: Michael always looked for the good in people, Carly.

Carly: I know, but Nelle is gonna use that trust, Sonny. She's gonna take him for all he's worth.

Sonny: I am not any happier than you are that Michael bought her apartment.

Carly: You realize this is just the beginning, right? Nelle is running some kind of a con on Michael.

Sonny: [Sighs] Not if she's smart. She already knows we're suspicious of her. If she was looking for a mark, she'd have moved on by now.

Carly: You think she genuinely has feelings for Michael?

Sonny: We have no proof that says otherwise.

Carly: Maybe not, but I may be able to find some.

Nina: Thank you. I'm relieved to hear about Charlotte's friend.

Valentin: They're going to be treating the scoliosis on an outpatient basis.

Nina: That's great. No surgery?

Valentin: No, it's not necessary. She's gonna be fine.

Nina: Charlotte must be very happy.

Valentin: Yeah, she can't wait to tell you all about the hospital. She really enjoyed the playroom.

Nina: [Laughs] That's awesome. You seem happy, too. Is it just because you were able to help Charlotte's friend?

Valentin: I've had, uh, an embarrassment of riches. Lulu's agreed to shared custody.

Nina: What? Lulu was determined to keep Charlotte out of your life. How did you change her mind?

Griffin: That's funny. I'd like to know the answer to that myself.

Franco: So, I have a twin brother, and it's Jason?

Betsy: No, you don't have a brother.

Franco: You just said that I had a twin brother.

Betsy: There was a twin, but it wasn't your twin. The story Heather told you wasn't a complete lie. Susan Moore did give birth to twins. Jason was raised by the Quartermaines. The boy in the picture with you was his twin.

[Monitor beeping]

Sam: [Sighs] [Sniffles]

Jason: [Groans] Sam!

Sam: Jason?

[In St. Petersburg, Russia]

Ava: You want me to call somebody in Port Charles, New York? And tell them what? That I'm at a clinic in St. Petersburg, Russia? That a violent psychotic with blue eyes wants them to come and get him?

Michael: I -- I thought you would be, you know, excited about this, but clearly, you're not. Nelle, if you don't want the apartment, then --

Nelle: I mean, I want the apartment.

Michael: Okay, I'm even more confused now.

Nelle: Of course, I want the apartment. It's gorgeous. It gets great light, it's in a fantastic part of the city. Not to mention, I can avoid the whole moving thing, which I hate. I mean, I love everything about it.

Michael: Except?

Nelle: Except for the fact that you bought it for me. I mean, think about that sentence for a minute. Does that sound right to you?

Michael: [Sighs] I mean, yeah, I mean, it's a little extreme.

Nelle: But this is just the kind of gesture you do all the time, right? This is what you Corinthos and Quartermaines do?

Michael: Yeah, yeah, I guess.

Nelle: I thought so. What happens if I stay in the apartment, knowing that you bought it for me? I'm gonna feel like a guest. No, worse. I'm going to feel like your mistress, which is exactly what people are going to think of me.

Michael: No one's gonna think that, Nelle.

Nelle: [Scoffs] Really?

Michael: Yeah.

Nelle: Okay, okay. How do you think your parents are gonna react to this?

Sonny: How are you gonna prove that Nelle's out to scam Michael?

Carly: It's easy. The proof is gonna come to us.

Sonny: Well--

Carly: I told you I had a source of information. Look, look at this.

Sonny: Okay, what is this?

Carly: It's an e-mail from Sharon Grant.

Sonny: Sharon Grant?

Carly: Mm-hmm. Sister of Zachary Grant, Nelle's late fiancé. She said she has something that she wants to discuss with me.

Sonny: About Nelle?

Carly: Yeah.

Sonny: Have you responded?

Carly: No, she was supposed to call me.

Sonny: Mm.

Carly: But you know what? I'm gonna e-mail her back right now.

Sonny: No, no, no, no, I don't think that's a good idea.

Franco: Hold on. This -- this kid in -- this kid is Jason's twin?

Betsy: Yes.

Franco: Why did you tell me that I made him up? Why would you do that? Why did you tell me that I had an imaginary friend?

Betsy: I'm sorry, Bobby, I was wrong. I see that now.

Franco: So then tell me the truth now, please. Just tell me, what -- who is this kid? And where is he now?

Betsy: It's a long story and complicated, but you have to understand. We were only doing what we thought was best.

Franco: Right, and by "we" you mean you and Heather.

Betsy: That's right.

Franco: Okay, well, Heather is Heather, right? Heather only cares about Heather, but not you. You're not like that, mom. And I know that you love me, so please, you just -- you need to tell me everything.

Ava: A couple of problems with your plan. One, I don't have access to a phone. They confiscated my cell as soon as I got here. And secondly, even if I found an outside line and called this number, do you actually think whoever picks up is gonna fly all the way to Russia to come and get you, just based on your description? [Scoffs] Well, I hate to disillusion you, but I think they'd be much more likely to act if I could actually mention a name. Just tell me who you are. And then I'll see what I can do.

Sam: Jason?

Jason: Sam!

[Monitor beeping rapidly]

Jason: [Groaning]

Griffin: I thought Dante and Lulu didn't want you to have anything to do with their daughter.

Nina: Charlotte is Valentin's daughter.

Griffin: And Lulu's.

Nina: Not yours. You have no say in Charlotte's custody.

Elizabeth: Hey, is everything okay?

Griffin: No, not with this guy.

Valentin: Yeah, everything's just, uh, fine. Uh, Dr. Munro, I don't owe you anything close to an explanation. Certainly not where it concerns my daughter. But Lulu has agreed to shared custody, and the paperwork is being drawn up as we speak.

Griffin: Then you got what you wanted.

Valentin: My daughter avoiding another custody hearing, yeah, that's exactly what I want.

Griffin: Lulu can't fight you anymore because you maneuvered Ava into changing her story about how you murdered Nikolas.

Ava: That's it? You refuse to write your name? Well, then, maybe I refuse to make your damn phone call. You can just sit there and let Klein drug you into oblivion. You know what? I tell you what. I will keep this phone number, and when and if you decide to write down your name, I will consider making the call.

Nurse: What are you doing?! You've given him a weapon!

Betsy: It all started when I met Heather Webber.

Franco: Oh, what a surprise.

Betsy: Heather was pregnant with you, a fact she was able to keep from her friends and family. I had no idea how troubled Heather was, but when she saw how badly I wanted to be a mother, she gave me the chance to raise you.

Franco: I already know this part, Mom.

Betsy: But what you don't know is what happened when Susan Moore fled Port Charles to stay with her cousin Heather. Susan knew that Alan was coming after her to take her back to town, so he could raise their child. She was so afraid of being found. She hadn't had an ultrasound in months, which is why Heather brought her to me, so I could make sure the baby was all right. When I examined her, we could see two different hearts beating.

Franco: Twins.

Betsy: And Susan was faced with a terrible decision.

Sam: No, no, no, what's wrong with him?

Doctor: Lorazepam, IV push.

Sam: Jason, Jason, I'm right here. Help him, come on!

Doctor: We can't stabilize him.

Sam: Jason! Please, please.

Carly: Sonny, if Sharon Grant is trying to warn us about Nelle, shouldn't we listen?

Sonny: You know what she's gonna say. The family believes that Nelle murdered her fiancé. They want to think that it was more than an accident.

Carly: What if it was?

Sonny: If Sharon had any proof that Nelle murdered her brother, don't you think they would have gone to the police?

Carly: Okay, all right, you know, so -- so Nelle didn't leave any evidence. That just means she's better at covering her tracks than we thought.

Sonny: Carly, don't do this to yourself.

Carly: Don't do what?

Sonny: Don't --

Carly: Don't worry about Michael? Don't worry about our kid? Don't do everything that I can to protect him?

Sonny: Do you really believe that Nelle is guilty?

Carly: I am more convinced by the minute. But the question is, what do you believe? Nelle nearly destroyed our family, Sonny. Are you willing to trust her with our son's life?

Michael: Nelle, I'm an adult, okay? My finances are my business, not my parents.

Nelle: I'm sure. I'm sure your parents don't care what you do with your money, as long as it doesn't involve me. [Scoffs]

Michael: Yeah, yeah, my parents were starting to accept you, then we had this, uh, setback.

Nelle: A -- a setback? Michael, your mom just accused me of being a black widow, of only going after you for your money. How do you think she's gonna react when she finds out I'm living rent-free in an apartment that you bought for me?

Michael: Okay, look, if it makes you feel any better, you can pay me rent. Huh? Problem solved.

Nelle: In what universe?

Michael: You think that my mom thinks that you're a gold digger. That me buying your apartment only justifies your theory, right? So you pay me rent, I'll be your landlord, and you'll be my tenant. See, it's all nice and clean.

Nelle: It's only nice and clean if we stay together. What happens if we break up?

Betsy: Susan was inconsolable. She knew Alan was close to tracking her down, and now she was gonna be on the run with two babies? It was going to be close to impossible.

Franco: Okay, so just a wild guess here that Heather came up with an alternative.

Betsy: Heather pointed out that the Quartermaines knew nothing about the second baby, and there was no reason for them to find out. So Susan could go back to Port Charles and settle the custody on one of the babies and keep the other baby out of the Quartermaines' hands. The firstborn was Jason, and Susan took him back to Port Charles. The second baby was -- Drew.

Franco: His name was Drew.

Sam: Jason! No, no, no! Baby, please, come on. Come on, I need you! Don't leave me, please! Come on. The family needs you. Please fight. Fight for us.

Jason: [Moans]

Doctor: Lorazepam finally kicked in.

Sam: Yeah. There you are. Hi, baby. You're gonna be okay. You're gonna be okay.

Nurse: Let's go. I'll call the orderlies.

Ava: What? What are you talking about? It's just a pen.

Nurse: You idiot! He could drive it through your throat.

Dr. Klein: What's going on?

Nurse: Patient 6 has a pen!

Dr. Klein: Damn it. Get the orderlies, now! Get back to your room.

Ava: Hey, what the hell's going on?

Dr. Klein: We have to disarm him before he kills someone. How the hell did he get the pen? Did you give it to him?

Ava: I -- I didn't mean any harm!

Dr. Klein: You stupid bitch! Sit down! You can't get out! There's four safety doors between you and the street! Even if you made it, where would you go?! You have no money, no one to help you!

Ava: Oh!

Dr. Klein: This doesn't have to be a fight! Drop the weapon! Face down, hands behind your head!

Nurse: There you are.

Sam: Hi.

Jason: [Weakly] H-hey. [Clears throat] Where am I?

Doctor: You're in a long-term care facility, Mr. Morgan. You experienced a drastic spike in your brain activity, which led to a prolonged seizure.

Jason: A seizure?

Sam: But h-he's gonna be okay, right? Y-you're gonna be okay.

Doctor: Yes, it appears you're out of imminent danger, but we need to run some tests.

Sam: Okay. Do you mind if I talk to him for a minute, please?

Doctor: Sure, I'll go arrange the tests.

Sam: Thank you.

Jason: H-hey. Hey. Look at you. I'm so glad you're okay.

Sam: Me? You jumped in front of a bullet for me. You saved my life.

Jason: [Clears throat] Well... that's what I'm supposed to do, because I love you. I gotta tell you, though, love really hurts.

Sam: [Laughs]

Jason: Mnh-mnh. No laughing.

Sam: [Chuckles] I'm sorry. [Sniffles] I'm sorry. Can we promise each other something? No more bullets, please.

Jason: Yeah, I'm very good with that. [Breathing heavily] How long have I been out?

Sam: Four weeks.

Jason: Weeks?

Sam: We didn't know when -- I-I mean, if you would come back.

Jason: I'm sorry.

Sam: [Sniffles]

Jason: [Coughs]

Sam: Please, don't be sorry. You did it. [Chuckles] You found your way back to me. [Sniffles]

Jason: I never left. I'll never leave you.

Franco: Drew. My imaginary friend was named Drew.

Betsy: His full name was Andréw, but I called him Drew, just like I named you Robert and called you Bobby.

Franco: I know Heather. I know she's the kind of person that would come up with a plan like keeping Jason's twin. But why would you go along with something like that?

Betsy: Heather didn't give me a choice. I adopted you illegally. Heather threatened to turn me in if I didn't do what she asked. I was afraid of losing you, Bobby. So, I agreed to keep Drew until Susan or Heather could come back for him. But Susan Moore died, and Heather didn't come back for him.

Franco: So where is Drew now?

Betsy: He isn't anywhere, Bobby. Drew died.

Nina: Okay. You need to check yourself, Dr. Munro, you got that? You're making a lot of unfounded accusations toward my husband, and he has every right to sue you.

Griffin: Your husband planned this whole thing. That's why you sent Ava away. You knew. You knew if the civil suit collapsed, Dante and Lulu would -- would have no basis to argue that you were an unfit parent. They would have no choice but to agree to shared custody.

Valentin: I love my daughter, and I'll go to any lengths to keep her with me.

Griffin: So you take advantage of a woman that's already suffered unimaginable pain.

Elizabeth: Come on, Griffin, okay? Let's go. Come on.

Griffin: No, I need to know where Ava is.

Valentin: I assure you, she's fine.

Griffin: How can you know that?

Valentin: Because I've been to the clinic, and I've lived to tell the tale.

Griffin: Maybe so, but there is a reason this -- this clinic operates off the books. W-whatever these so-called doctors do there, if it were on the up-and-up, they wouldn't shroud themselves in secrecy.

Valentin: She went to the clinic of her own volition. She was aware of the risks, and she chose --

Griffin: Just tell me where she is! Please. Please, I just need to make sure that she's all right.

Valentin: Why don't you wait to ask her yourself? If she comes back.

Michael: What makes you think we're gonna break up?

Nelle: I-I don't. But, you know, no one knows what the future holds.

Michael: Well, you sound like you do.

Nelle: It's just -- with your family and my past, sometimes I think that the deck is stacked against us. Do you remember the time I told you I didn't think I deserved to be happy?

Michael: Yeah, that's not true.

Nelle: I try not to, but sometimes I can't help from worrying that one day, the other shoe's gonna drop. All this happiness is just gonna be stripped away. And not only will I have a broken heart, but I'll be without an apartment, too.

Michael: [Sighs] All right, look, I can't guarantee what's gonna happen in our future, but I can guarantee that you can keep the apartment, okay? I'll, uh, I'll draw up a lease.

Nelle: Seriously?

Michael: Yeah. In that case, if the worst thing does happen, you'll still have a place to live, and I'll still have my investment.

Nelle: [Sighs] I'm willing to take a chance if you are.

Michael: Okay. Or I, you know, could just cancel the transaction. It wouldn't be the first property to fall out of escrow.

Nelle: No, no, let's -- let's do this, you know. You made a grand gesture in trust. The least I can do is trust you in return.

Sonny: Let me make myself clear, Carly. Nelle Benson is the last person I would give the benefit of the doubt to. What she pulled was cruel, but not deadly. She's a con artist, but not a killer.

Carly: What if we're wrong? What if Nelle really did kill Zachary Grant? And what if she sees Michael as her next target?

Sonny: The first thing Nelle does to our boy...

Carly: [Exhales sharply]

Sonny: ...I tell you, she will be outta here.

Carly: You promise?

Sonny: I promise. And I'll tell you another thing. We keep pushing Nelle, like I told you before, it's gonna drive Michael away. We want to keep him safe. We don't want to drive him away.

Jason: I remember you coming into the warehouse. That guy Petrov had a gun.

Sam: You pushed me out of the way. You saved my life.

Jason: I was lying there, and you held my hand. You talked to me. Next thing I know, we're in the hospital. And I'm being prepped for surgery. But then there was nothing. I don't know, maybe I was slipping away. But I did hear voices. Your voice was the most clear. I could always hear you. It was your voice that kept me here.

Sam: That's what happened to me when I was sick, it was your voice.

Jason: I thought I was gonna lose my mind, and that was just one night. You had to do this for weeks.

Sam: Whew, it was not easy.

Jason: Oh, well... thank God you're the strongest person I know.

Sam: Well, I had to be.

Jason: I'm sorry.

Sam: No, don't. No, no. Please, you have nothing to apologize for, stop.

Jason: Yes, I do. You told me you were afraid. I didn't listen to you. I shouldn't have gone back to the warehouse.

Sam: Jason, I told you to go to that warehouse. Because Sonny is your friend, and that's who you are. And I accept that, and I love you for that. And I'm so sorry. The past couple of years, I've just been so afraid of losing you... that I let that fear control me, and I don't want to do that. I don't -- I don't want to be that person. I am so sorry. It's not fair.

Jason: Okay, listen to me. [Groans] We've never let a fear rule our lives. It's not gonna start now. You and I, we've been through something that most people couldn't even...imagine. And, yeah, it changed us, because we know how lucky we are. We know what we have to lose, right? So let's make a deal. No more putting ourselves in danger. Look, we've always been ride or die, but we're not dying right now, okay?

Sam: Okay.

Jason: Okay.

Sam: I love you.

Jason: I love you.

Franco: Drew died?

Betsy: I raised the two of you as brothers, as twins. Everything you did, you did together. I was beginning to dread the day when Susan would come and take Drew away. And then she didn't. When I found out she was dead, I decided to raise Drew myself till the very end.

Franco: Till the very end? Was he sick?

Betsy: Drew was born with a heart defect. The doctors never expected him to live as long as he did. You'd never know some days. He was just a happy, smiling child, like the day that picture was taken. And then other days, he was quiet and pale. And then one day, when he was 3, he just slipped away from us. [Sobbing]

Patient 6: [Grunts]

Dr. Klein: Don't kill him! Cripple him if you have to! Do not let him escape!

Orderly: [Grunts] Aah!

Ava: Is he alive?

Dr. Klein: No thanks to you. Get up! Get him to his room and lock him down. Double restraints. You idiots! He's been drugged unconscious! Go! Go to the staff exam room. I'll treat you in a minute. Now... you're gonna tell me exactly how Patient 6 got this pen!

Franco: I'm so sorry.

Betsy: No. I'm the one that should be sorry. I could have done things differently. I could have made better choices.

Franco: Mom, it's okay. You've always done the best you could for me, always.

Betsy: I did try, Bobby. I know it may not seem that way at times, but I really did try to do my best.

Franco: I know. It's... I don't remember Drew dying. It's -- you'd think I'd remember something like that, right? What kind of heart condition did he have?

Betsy: It was a very traumatic time. What does it matter now?

Franco: It matters now because what if it's hereditary? What if -- what if Jason's kids could get it? What if Jake could be sick?

Betsy: He's not, I promise you that. Drew's ailment wasn't anything that could be passed down. And thinking about him, it was so painful. I couldn't bear it. After he died, people started asking questions I couldn't answer. The adoption was undocumented. If anyone found out, I could go to jail, and then what would happen to you? I couldn't risk that, Bobby. So I had to move.

Franco: You had to. We moved somewhere where nobody knew us, where Drew never even existed.

Betsy: Exactly.

Franco: Yeah.

Betsy: I boxed up all his pictures, I hid every trace of him. And then you started asking questions.

Franco: You told me he was imaginary.

Betsy: I was wrong, I know that now, but at the time, I thought I was protecting you from grief and loss.

Franco: After all the lies that I've been told in my life, this is the first time ever things in my life actually make sense. So, hey, it's not for me to understand why you did the things that you did. You're telling me the truth now, and that means a lot to me.

Betsy: Bobby, that means so much to me to hear you say that.

Franco: I'm glad. 'Cause it's time for everyone to know the truth.

Sonny: All right, listen. I got work to do, so I guess I'll see you later.

Carly: Yeah. Of course, of course.

Sonny: All right?

Mm-hmm. Yes.

Sonny: And I know how much this is upsetting you, the whole thing, but the last thing I think you want to do is bring her former in-laws into the mess 'cause you gotta be smarter than that.

Carly: I know, I know.

Sonny: All right. I'll see you.

[Cell phone rings]

[Door closes]

Carly: Sharon? No, no, thank you. Thank you so much for calling. Look, whatever you have to say about Janelle Benson, I want to hear. Yes. Okay.

[Traffic noise]

Michael: Well, okay, Miss Benson, you are officially my new tenant. Shake on it?

Nelle: I can think of another way to seal the deal.

Michael: All right. I'll have, uh, Diane draw up the lease. I'll stop by later?

Nelle: Sounds good.

Michael: Okay.

Nelle: Hey, hey. In case I didn't say anything before, I'm -- thank you, really. No one's ever done anything this nice for me. I wish I could return the favor.

Michael: Well, look, you just sticking around is enough for me.

Griffin: What do you mean, "if" Ava returns? You do something to her?

[Utensils clatter]

Valentin: All night, we're just fine. We're fine. As much as I would like to smash your face on that table right here, I'm not gonna do that with my wife in the room.

Griffin: You threatening me?

Valentin: No, I'm just stating a fact. It would be very easy for me to put you on the floor with two broken hands for good measure, and then you'll have to go back to listening to confessions and seducing parishioners.

Elizabeth: Griffin, don't do it.

Griffin: What do you mean "if" Ava comes back?

Valentin: Why would she come back? What's for her in Port Charles? Her brother's in jail, she's estranged from her daughters, and why do you miss her so much? What is the nature of your relationship?

Griffin: You bastard.

Nina: Okay, that's it. That's it! You touch my husband again, I will call the police, I am not kidding you. My brother's a detective.

Elizabeth: Are you crazy? That guy's a killer, and you just attacked him.

Griffin: I don't buy his story for a minute. He's playing on Ava's vulnerability. Look, she's in trouble. I can feel it.

Elizabeth: Okay, so what are you gonna do about it?

Dr. Klein: You were warned to stay away from Patient 6.

Ava: I know. I'm sorry.

Dr. Klein: How sorry would you be if he had killed those men instead of beating them senseless? And what if, after he'd finished, he'd come after you?

Ava: He wouldn't.

Dr. Klein: Because you're his friend? You're like a little child that wanders into a tiger's cage that's sure the animal won't hurt her, except we all know how that story ends. The tiger kills the child because that is his nature. You have just seen Patient 6's nature firsthand. Be grateful that you got out with your life.

Ava: You're absolutely right. I understand.

Dr. Klein: Do you?! Then why in the hell did you give him a pen in the first place? Were you trying to communicate?

Ava: Yes.

Dr. Klein: What was the nature of that communication?

Ava: Um... that's it. It's a number. I know the area code's from Upstate New York.

Dr. Klein: [Exhales] [Chuckles] Your scarring is severe. Without treatment, you'll be deformed for the rest of your life. Is that what you want? Is that what you want?

Ava: No. No. No, p-please, I -- I want you to treat me.

Dr. Klein: Then follow the rules. No more contact with Patient 6 for any reason! Or you lose your only chance at a normal life.

Betsy: What do you mean? Tell who about what?

Franco: Drew has a surviving family. Elizabeth and her kid and Sam's kids and Jason himself. They all deserve to know that he existed.

Betsy: No! Promise me, Bobby, the story I told you will stay in this room.

Franco: Don't you feel that Drew deserves to be remembered?

Betsy: What about the Quartermaines? If they find out, they could come after me. They could put me in jail. Is that what you want?

Franco: No, of course not.

Betsy: What good could come from telling Jason Morgan's family that he once had a twin? All it can do is stir up a lot more questions and a lot more pain.

Franco: Mom...

Betsy: Drew is dead. Telling anybody is not gonna change that. I am begging you, Bobby, if you ever loved me, keep this between us.

Sam: Back from your tests?

Jason: Hey. [Clears throat] Yeah. Doctor said I was a model patient.

Sam: [Laughs] Yeah, I'm sure you were.

Jason: Hey, look, the sooner they give me the all-clear, the sooner I get to go home.

Sam: Speaking of, I called Monica. She's in surgery. I still have to call Sonny and Carly...

Jason: Okay.

Sam: ...Elizabeth.

Jason: Hey, there's plenty of time for all that. Right now... I just want to be with you, see this pretty face. Look, I'm sorry I scared you.

Sam: I was pretty scared. But I was never gonna give up hope because I know you. And the Jason Morgan I know would never give up until he came home to his family.

[Door opens]

[Door closes]

Dr. Klein: [Snapping fingers] Get out.

[Door closes]

[Phone ringing]

Sonny: Yeah? Hello? Hello?
