Valentin: Tough day at the office?
Valentin: I have just the thing to cheer you up.
Nina: Oh, gosh. You know what, it's not a good time right now. I have a million things going on. We have this photo shoot.
Valentin: I assure you, I'm just here as an intermediary for a third party. Mesdames et messieurs, laissez moi vous présenter l'élève surdouée de l'Académie De Danse de Madame Macron, Mademoiselle Charlotte Honor Cassadine...
Nina: Oh, my goodness. Well, that was beautiful. That was so graceful!
Charlotte: There's a special class in the ballroom today. I had Papa bring me early so we could visit you. We miss you, Nina.
Nina: Oh! I miss you, too.
Finn: No leads at all? Well, just keep digging. I'm doing a little looking of my own, all right? Keep in touch.
Anna: Oh, hi. Dr. Finn?
Finn: Hi. Anna, I -- I didn't see you in my appointment book today.
Anna: No, no, no. I'm not tracking you down or anything. I was looking for Hayden.
Finn: She's...not here.
Anna: Do you know when she'll be back?
Judge Chua: We'll take a brief recess to give the defense a chance to round up its witnesses. Mr. Baldwin, keep your client under control or I will have him restrained. Mr. Jerome's thinly veiled death threat to Mr. Rudge hasn't helped his case at all.
Scott: [Sighs] Yes, Your Honor.
Judge Chua: [Bangs gavel]
Bailiff: All rise.
Julian: [Sighs] Yeah, I'm gonna wipe that smirk off your face.
Scott: Take it easy.
Julian: [Sighs] Everything out of Rudge's mouth was a lie.
Scott: Well, I have some tricks up my sleeve.
Julian: Okay, don't patronize me, okay, Baldwin? There's no coming back from that, you know.
Scott: Now, you're gonna spend the rest of your life in prison if you don't get yourself under control.
Carly: I mean it. The last thing you needed while you were recovering was to be hounded by the cops.
Sonny: Well, I'm glad you understand.
Carly: What I don't understand is how the two of you could keep this from me.
Jason: Carly, you got to understand --
Sonny: Things were volatile.
Carly: Screw that, Sonny! Things are always volatile. After 20 years of friendship, how could you keep this from me?
Sam: They did it for me.
Carly: Because you asked them to?
Carly: No. You wanted the opposite. You wanted to tell me the truth. But Sonny and Jason, the two people I trust most in this world, they're the ones who decided to lie.
Finn: Hayden's not here.
Anna: Do you know how much longer she'll be?
Finn: Oh, I don't think I'd wait if I were you.
Anna: Well, you seem to be doing just that. We could wait together.
Finn: Mm. Are -- are you always this persistent?
Finn: May I ask what's so important?
Anna: What do you know about the diamonds that Hayden took after her father's assets had been seized?
Finn: Not much. Hayden's mother, Naomi, confessed to stealing those diamonds.
Anna: Yeah. Confessed. That's the operative word. At any rate, when Hayden first came to Port Charles, she had diamonds in her possession.
Finn: I -- I believe they were all turned over the authorities.
Anna: Maybe. Maybe not all of them. One might have been left out.
Nina: So, how are the dance classes?
Charlotte: I love them. And I'm in the advanced group now.
Valentin: That's one of the reasons we wanted to come see you, because you're one of the reasons we took dance. I mean, you found Madame Macron.
Nina: Oh! Well, that's great. Well, Charlotte was so graceful, I knew she'd do so well.
Charlotte: How long did you take dance, Nina?
Nina: Um, I don't know. I think I stopped when I was 13. Yeah. I really loved it and wanted to be a ballerina, but I just got so tall, you know, so I concentrated on writing instead.
Charlotte: Do you think I'll be tall?
Nina: [Gasps] I don't know. Time will tell.
Charlotte: I hope I will. I want to be just like you, Nina, even if it means I can't dance anymore.
Nina: [Gasps] No, no, no, no, no. You don't talk like that. That's crazy talk. If you want to dance, you keep on dancing. All right? Even if you're 6'3", you can dance. You do whatever you want, whatever it is your heart. That's the most important thing. And you know what? Your papa and I will support you no matter what.
Charlotte: Even though you and Papa aren't married anymore?
Julian: I didn't think you'd be here today.
Alexis: I had a meeting with a client. I was just passing through. Hm. I heard your trial was delayed. What happened?
Julian: The DA wanted to give Rudge enough time to memorize his lines.
Alexis: Rudge? Olivia's henchman?
Julian: He perjured himself. He testified that Olivia and I were like butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid, running around on some sort of a mutual crime spree. [Sighs]
Alexis: Olivia tried to kill you. That bomb that killed Morgan was in your car.
Julian: Oh, yeah, that was a clever plot between the two of us to eliminate my rival's son.
Alexis: The judge believed him?
Julian: Well, Rudge, uh, played his part perfectly. He made it sound like we were working together, like I was her partner in crime instead of an unwilling accomplice who she had handcuffed to a radiator.
Alexis: How did Scott handle the cross-examination?
Alexis: There was a cross-examination?
Julian: Well, he reserved the right to recall the witness, although fat lot of good that's gonna do. I mean, at this point, I don't even see the point in mounting a defense.
Carly: Does anyone see the irony here? I mean, Sam, the late-comer. For years, I threw that up in her face -- how she was never gonna understand the bond that we share, how our loyalty always came first! And now Sam's the one -- Sam's the one who was honest with me while the two of you shut me out. You treated me like you treat the cops!
Sonny: I was gonna tell you when things calmed down!
Carly: But you didn't tell me, Sonny. You came close, but then you'd change the subject. You'd try and flirt with me. I knew you were hiding something from me, and I didn't press. You know why? Because Jason was involved. And while I knew that you would lie to me, I certainly never thought you would!
Jason: It was never about lying to you, Carly.
Carly: But you did!
Jason: It was about protecting Sam. I thought she was going to confess. I was focused on stopping her. I didn't want to get you involved.
Carly: Why? We always trusted each other before. When did that change?
Nina: Listen, listen, listen. What happened was pretty complicated.
Charlotte: Papa had to go far away to answer questions, so I went to live with Lulu and Dante and Rocco, and you got a divorce. But now Papa's back. So everything can go back to the way it was.
Nina: Are you sure that's what you want? Because I thought you liked living with Lulu and Dante and Rocco.
Charlotte: I do. But I like living with you and Papa, too. I want the three of us to go back to Wyndemere to live together.
Valentin: Oh, ma petit... I know things seem like they should be that simple, but grown-ups do have a way of making things more complicated, don't they? When I had to go away, everybody else had to make their own arrangements, and the judge decided that you should live with Lulu, and well, Nina and I decided it'd be better if we got divorced.
Charlotte: But why? Don't you love each other anymore?
Finn: Last I heard, the diamonds were in federal custody. I never heard that one was missing. I doubt Hayden did, either.
Anna: Yeah. Possibly. But I can ask her that, right?
Finn: Uh, yes.
Lucy: Hey, Finn.
Finn: Lucy. How did you find me?
Lucy: Oh, um, Amy Driscoll. Anna.
Anna: Hi, Lucy.
Lucy: Hello. Hey, uh, look, I'm very sorry to bother you at a time like this. I just, uh, need to know what you want to do regarding the house that you and Hayden were gonna purchase. I would completely understand if you want to back out of that contract.
Finn: Why would you say that?
Lucy: Oh! Well, instead of you two getting married, Hayden left you and General Hospital and Port Charles, and it doesn't look like she's returning.
Scott: Hey, why the long faces? I got plenty of witnesses. Put Leo's mother on the stand. She will testify how your sister put your baby boy in the hospital.
Julian: She only has my word that my sister was behind Leo's health scare.
Scott: Well, then there's Lucas. He'll say how you sacrificed your life for your family.
Julian: Lucas is still furious with me.
Scott: Yeah, but we can count on him.
Scott: Well, then there's Sam.
Alexis: Sam just got out of the hospital, and even if she were well enough to testify, she would classified a hostile witness.
Scott: Oh, for crying out loud. Then I'll put you back up on the stand.
Alexis: Right, because my first appearance just knocked it out of the park.
Scott: Yeah, but --
Alexis: Listen, any point you make with Olivia Quartermaine, with Sam, or with Lucas, the DA is gonna be able to counter on cross, and Julian has hurt them all. I'm sure you know that. I'm sure you know that, too.
Carly: I can almost excuse Sonny for what he did. I mean, for one thing, you were shot, and you spent 24 hours in a hole in the ground. Then you were drugged from surgery, and I'm sure you didn't want to say anything at the hospital because you didn't want anyone to overhear. But all that changed once we got home. You could have told me any time.
Sonny: It was not only my secret to tell, Carly. It was Jason and Sam's.
Carly: Sam didn't want to keep the secret! You did. My best friend. The one person I could always count on. Always trusted. I thought you trusted me the same way. Why would you shut me out?
Jason: Things are different now. We're different.
Jason: Because now we know what we stand to lose.
Lucy: Well, she did pack up all her things the morning that you two were supposed to be married and just disappeared, and the only thing she left behind was her engagement ring. I don't know, does that sound like a woman who is returning or who even wants to be found?
Anna: Oh, I don't know that. I don't know enough about the situation to speculate.
Finn: Hey, uh, I think you wasted your time coming here, all right? I'm gonna find Hayden, and when I do, we're gonna move into that house, and I'm gonna rip out that damn tennis court with my own hands, and we're gonna put in a slide and a swing and a sprinkler set for the kids to run through. So, no. No, I am buying that damn house, okay?
Lucy: Okay, I'm sorry. Look, I will just see you at the closing, okay? I'll see you there.
Lucy: Ta. [Sighs]
Anna: I'm so sorry. I didn't know anything about what was going on.
Finn: Hayden and I have a lot to work through, but we will. I just need to find her first.
Valentin: I do love Nina. I love her more now probably than I did the night we were married, because I've actually spent time with her and I've seen her courage and I've seen her kindness. And that made the love grow stronger, but marriage isn't all about love.
Charlotte: Yes, it is. The prince and the princess fall in love and get married and live happily ever after. The hard part is the beginning when he's a beast, and she has to teach him to be nice.
Nina: Mm, that is the hard part, but "Beauty & The Beast" is a fairy tale.
Valentin: And fairy tales don't have community property and assets in common and entailments and liens...
Charlotte: [Scoffs] What are those?
Valentin: Well, those are -- those are legal terms, and when two people are married, then legally, they become one person. So if somebody has to go far away and answer some questions, that can create a lot of legal problems for the person left behind, and the best way to deal with that is to get a divorce, because that means everything is divided, and my problems don't become Nina's problems.
Charlotte: I think that's sad. I think if you love each other, you should get married and not worry about legal problems.
Nina: Well, my goodness. Charlotte, I should have talked to you before my brother and all the lawyers ganged up on me.
Charlotte: Were they mean to you?
Nina: They were mean to me! They were mean to me! They were talking about assets and cutting my losses and... [Groans] But you know what my biggest problem was? I was uncertain, and I let them convince me of something that I didn't believe in. I didn't go with my heart. That was a mistake.
Charlotte: What does your heart tell you now?
Valentin: Charlotte, um, we're gonna have to go or we're gonna be late for class.
Charlotte: Nina, can you come with us? It's right downstairs.
Nina: Oh! Um, I just -- I would love to go with you. Okay.
Scott: Alexis, you're doing a lot of backseat litigating here.
Julian: I want to hear what Alexis has to say.
Alexis: We all knew how difficult it was gonna be to get him acquitted.
Julian: So, remind me again why we requested a bench trial?
Alexis: Because jurors are swayed by emotion, and the prosecution goes first. They're gonna talk about Olivia's crimes and how you committed them with her, and they're gonna lose all sympathy for you, and you won't be able to get it back. Now, Judge Chua on the other hand has to follow the law and abide by the principles of reasonable doubt.
Scott: And about the witnesses.
Alexis: All they have heard from Julian is that he was coerced. They just have his word on that, and none of them are gonna be devastated if he goes to prison. I mean, Ned and Olivia will be thrilled because Leo gets to be a Quartermaine, then.
Scott: Don't sugarcoat it here.
Julian: Okay, you know, she's right, Scotty.
Alexis: Any good that they can do for you for the defense is gonna be outweighed by the damage the prosecution can do when he asks them to expound on their negative feelings about Julian.
Scott: So you're saying that my defense has been worthless and harmful?
Julian: That about nails it, yeah.
Scott: Okay, well, then do you two geniuses have any ideas?
Julian: Put me on the stand, Scotty. Let me tell my story.
Jason: I was gone for two years, and when I came back, remembered my life, I realized I had to change, find a different way to live. You made the same choice, didn't you? When you lost Morgan. You wanted away from the violence, you wanted Sonny out of the business.
Carly: What does that have to do with you lying to me?
Sonny: I think, Carly, what he's trying to say is we have different priorities now. We used to react without thinking, lie to the cops, cover. Now everything's different. We have kids, we have family. So what used to work before doesn't work now.
Jason: I couldn't ask you to be a part of cover-up when this is a life that you don't want to live.
Carly: Okay. I mean, it makes sense, you know? It does. But it makes me sad because... you never used to think that way. You always knew that I was there for you, and, um... well, I guess that's just changed now, too. So...
Jason: Look, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you.
Carly: No, it's okay. I just, um... I just need some time to adjust, I guess.
Jason: Thank you.
Sam: This is -- this is my fault.
Carly: Hey. Please stop saying that. No one blames you. You know? You weren't in your right mind. The rest of us don't have that excuse. [Laughs] I understand why you didn't tell me, I do. I think it's the wrong call, but I'll just have to get over that.
Sonny: Okay. Since we all agree, then, uh, we're not gonna say anything to anybody about Sam's involvement in the shooting.
Jason: You know what? Sam and I have to get home. There are two little people that really want to see their mom, so... bye.
Sonny: You all right?
Carly: No. Okay, just out of curiosity, if the positions were reversed, and you were the one that was shut out and lied to, how do you think you'd feel?
Sonny: I would hate it.
Carly: Then why did you do it to me? Once we were home, why not tell me the truth?
Sonny: Because I just got you back, and I didn't want to fight. And -- I knew that if I told you the truth, that I was keeping a secret, that you would doubt me, and I love you and I don't -- I made a mistake. I'm not perfect.
Carly: What -- what did just you say?
Sonny: I said I made a mistake. I'm not perfect.
Carly: When did you start saying you weren't perfect? You're the most arrogant man I know! The only time you pretend to be humble is when you know you've screwed up, and you want me to forgive you.
Sonny: 'Cause most of the time it works.
Carly: It's not working. You know why? Because you're not even genuinely sorry!
Sonny: Yes, I am! I would have said something at the hospital, but because of the reasons you just said, I didn't. But I admit, when I came home, I should have said something.
Carly: Thank you.
Carly: I know it's not completely your fault because Jason didn't want to tell me, either.
Carly: I don't know why that surprises me.
Jason: Here you go.
Sam: Thank you.
Jason: Molly just texted. She said we have half an hour before she brings the kids home. So...
Sam: Good. You know, I'm hoping once they're in my arms, I can forget about what I did to Sonny.
Jason: Sonny has forgiven you. Eventually, you'll forgive yourself. I promise you, we're gonna find a way to get past this.
Sam: I know. I just don't understand how this happened in the first place. I knew for weeks that something was wrong with me, and I don't know why I didn't ask you for help. Why didn't I trust you?
Scott: There is no way I'm gonna put you on the witness stand and let the DA cross-examine you. He will chew you up and spit you out.
Julian: You know, I can handle myself.
Scott: Alexis, would you tell him what a disaster this would be?
Alexis: As a rule, I don't believe in putting defendants on the stand, but in this case, I think he should take the stand. I do. I think he should tell his story, and I -- I have faith that he will do it justice.
Julian: Um, Olivia, my sister -- she came back to Port Charles last year, and she was, uh... she was definitely hell-bent on revenge. She tried to force me to kill Alexis. So I had to come up with a plan. I staged the incident down at the docks to make it look like I was gonna kill Alexis, but I had every intention -- I had every intention of letting her go. And then I was going to leave the country. Unfortunately, Sonny Corinthos ruined those plans. It was after that that my sister stepped up her threats to include my three children. She put my son Leo in the hospital just to make her point, and then she kidnapped my daughter Sam just as she was about to give birth. [Sighs] And then I had to witness Alexis handcuffed to the bridge. And I was told yet again that I had to kill her.
Anna: I'm sorry. Going on about the diamond and everything, it must seem so trivial with what you're going through.
Finn: In a roundabout way, those diamonds brought us closer together. You know, Hayden was so desperate to hang onto them, and she got sick, and when Elizabeth turned them over to the police, they really did become trivial.
Finn: How'd you come to have that one?
Anna: Oh, yeah. This -- it was, um... it was embedded in this little keepsake that Spencer Cassadine made for my granddaughter.
Finn: He must have found it at Wyndemere.
Anna: Yeah. Well, that's what Elizabeth thought, too. However... I -- I had it examined by a jeweler, and he said that it actually isn't part of the original diamond necklace that Raymond Berlin gave to his wife. All right, so apparently, this diamond was stolen by a ring of jewel thieves out of Eastern Europe, and the money that they made from the sale of these gems financed larger crimes, which is what puts it in the purview of the WSB, which is why I'm investigating.
Finn: Yeah, international jewel thieves. That sounds more like the realm of Nikolas Cassadine, not Hayden. After all, it was his house.
Anna: Yeah, you could be right. Yeah, Nikolas -- he certainly had his share of shady dealings, but unfortunately, I can't ask him. But I can question Hayden.
Finn: I have no idea where she is, Anna, but I'm gonna find her -- I promise you, and then you can ask her yourself.
Anna: Forgive me for saying this, but it really doesn't sound like she wants to be found.
Scott: Now, take a moment. I know this has been trying.
Campbell: Objection, Your Honor. This is pure spectacle! You're being manipulated.
Judge Chua: I don't need you to tell me how I'm supposed to feel, Counselor. Sit down.
Scott: Are you ready to continue?
Julian: Yeah. Thank you.
Scott: Okay. So, what ultimately happened with you and your sister?
Julian: Well, after I shot the handcuffs off Alexis, I had to block Olivia's shot so Alexis wouldn't get hit, and, uh...at which point, Olivia shot me, and I fell off the bridge. I, uh, obviously survived the fall and when I came to, I had realized what was going on. I realized that Olivia had been locked up. And I admit that I did try to leave town, but I mean, it wasn't to avoid justice. It was just to put some distance between me and my family. I'd honestly rather never see my family again than to see them in danger.
Campbell: Mr. Jerome, years ago, you shot your sister, is that correct?
Scott: Objection! Relevance!
Judge Chua: Overruled. Answer the question.
Julian: I thought my sister was dead.
Campbell: By your hand.
Julian: I paid for that crime. I gave up my life. I spent years in the witness protection program.
Campbell: Why did your sister choose to return last year? Did it have something to do with Duke Lavery?
Scott: Objection, Your Honor. Again, relevance!
Judge Chua: I'll allow it.
Julian: My sister was in love with Duke Lavery, yeah.
Campbell: And you killed him.
Scott: Objection, Your Honor. It is public record that Carlos Rivera killed Duke Lavery!
Campbell: By Mr. Jerome's orders!
Scott: Your Honor!
Judge Chua: Move on, Mr. Campbell.
Campbell: Your sister Olivia showed up in town, and you never told the authorities.
Julian: No, I did not.
Campbell: She killed Morgan Corinthos, kidnapped Dr. Robin Scorpio Drake, she almost blew up General Hospital with everyone in it, and you did nothing to stop it.
Julian: Look, I --
Campbell: In fact, you helped her!
Julian: I know what my part was in this, but that's not how it went down.
Campbell: Thank you! Thank you! No further questions.
Judge Chua: Mr. Baldwin, do you wish to redirect?
Scott: Yes, I do. Isn't it true that you did your sister's bidding because she was threatening you?
Julian: Yes, I -- I was trying to protect my children and the woman I love. My devotion to them obscured my reason. Olivia is locked away now. My daughter and my granddaughter are safe and so are Lucas and Leo, and as are you, Alexis. I understand that my actions may be judged as wrong, and I may be put away in prison, but honestly, if that was the price I had to pay to protect my children and my family, then... then I'm okay with that.
Scott: The defense rests.
Finn: You think Hayden's gone for good?
Anna: I don't know. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that. I don't know enough about what went on between the two of you to speculate. I'm just gonna focus on the diamond.
Finn: You know, maybe Hayden's father can help you. Yeah, I mean, any diamonds she had, they came from him, and she did go visit him a few days ago. He's at the Green Briar Federal Penitentiary.
Anna: All right. I guess I'll pay a visit to Mr. Berlin.
Finn: Mm. Maybe don't mention to him that Hayden just vanished. I mean, why worry him?
Anna: I won't -- I won't mention that she disappeared. Of course not.
Anna: Can you do me a favor and not tell anyone about the diamond and the connection to the jewel thieves? Just keep that confidential?
Finn: I won't say anything. I don't really have anyone to talk to anyway, and I can't imagine anyone here has ties to international jewel thieves.
Anna: I do know one person.
Nina: I'm just gonna say it -- Charlotte is the best dancer in that group.
Valentin: You didn't even stay for the whole performance.
Nina: I didn't need to. I saw the warm-up. That was enough.
Valentin: You're not just a little bit biased?
Nina: I'm completely biased. Completely. Charlotte's incredible. She's bright, she's graceful. That little girl can do anything she's made up her mind to do.
Valentin: Well, selfishly, I hope you're right.
Nina: Why do you say "selfishly?"
Valentin: Because she's made up her mind to bring us back together.
Campbell: The defendant aided and abetted a fugitive who terrorized this community and caused the horrific death of Morgan Corinthos. Not because he was coerced, but, as we heard from Mr. Rudge, because he agreed with his sister and supported her goals. So, yes, Mr. Jerome does care about his family -- his organized crime family.
Scott: Ultimately, Mr. Jerome almost died on the bridge that night. He was willing to sacrifice his life for his family. If he is guilty of anything, it's that he loves his family too much, and, Your Honor, that is not a crime.
Judge Chua: I will retire to my chambers to review evidence and testimony. This court is in recess. [Bangs gavel]
Bailiff: All rise.
Alexis: Julian. I'm sorry for everything that you went through.
Julian: Thanks. I just had to do what I had to do.
Carly: Jason's different since he came back, and I know this, you know? I know this, intellectually. It's just emotionally, I have to keep learning that lesson over and over again.
Sonny: You know, I feel the same way. You know the distillery project? My first thought was to bring Jason into it because he would be great at overseeing the day-to-day operations, and most important, we could work together in something legit. Well, he turned me down.
Sonny: He said it would send the wrong message, that it implies that the distillery project is a front and people would think that he's in the business.
Sonny: Now, I mean, look, it could happen, but -- it kind of hurt my feelings.
Sonny: I mean, you know...
Carly: Jason would never have thought that before.
Carly: I mean, he never would have thought about risk or perception. Those thoughts would have never crossed his mind. And I get that his life is different now. I do. You know, he and Sam have two kids, and their priorities are different, and I can understand that, you know, day to day. It's just... [Sighs] Just when, um, you know, when things are kind of spiraling and I'm feeling lost, that's when I miss who Jason used to be.
Jason: I don't think you can apply logic to what's happened to you.
Sam: I know. It just doesn't make any sense that I would listen to that crazy voice in my head. Why wouldn't I remember that you are my biggest champion? That I can talk to you about anything. You would have just told me that Sonny was a friend, and I didn't have to worry about him.
Jason: That infection you suffered was very powerful. You weren't in your right mind.
Sam: I know, and I've always believed the connection between us was so strong we could overcome anything or anyone, but I feel like... this time, it failed me, and I don't understand why.
Anna: The warden says that Raymond Berlin refuses to meet with me, that he's only taking visits from his attorney and family members.
Finn: You're a WSB agent. I mean, can't you, you know, like, pull rank or something?
Anna: Sure, I can compel him to sit opposite me at a table, and I can fire questions at him, but it's not gonna do me any good if he refuses to cooperate.
Anna: Of course, he might be a bit more receptive to you.
Finn: [Scoffs] No, I've told you everything I know about those diamonds. I don't think I'm gonna start asking Hayden's father about them.
Anna: Well, I mean, what if there's some kind of connection between Hayden's disappearance and the diamonds? You know, what if, like, maybe she had more stones stashed than just the ones that were on the necklace, and she's using those diamonds -- one like this one -- to pay for her getaway.
Finn: You're reaching.
Anna: Yeah, okay, but there's only one way to find out -- if you take me with you when you visit Mr. Berlin.
Julian: So, what do you think my chances are of getting acquitted?
Alexis: I think you have a chance.
Julian: Then what happens to us?
Scott: Hey, Julian! You were a real champ up there. I couldn't have asked for anything more.
[Cell phone vibrates]
Scott: Mm. Well, that was fast.
Julian: What are you talking about?
Scott: The clerk. They want all parties in the courtroom in half an hour. The judge has reached a verdict.
Carly: I'm not gonna do this. I'm not.
Sonny: Do what?
Carly: Get so fixated on the thing I can't have and blind to all the blessings that are right in front of me.
Carly: I'm always gonna miss how Jason used to be, but he's still here, he's still our friend, and he's not grieving for his wife. I mean, Sam pulled through a serious illness. I mean, yeah, she did some terrible things while she was sick, but --
Sonny: It wasn't her fault. I'm doing much better, and...
Carly: Exactly. And so I can either stay fixated on the fact that you lied to me and kept a secret from me, or I can focus on the fact that you're alive and how much I love you.
Sonny: I vote for the second option.
Carly: I know you do. [Laughs] Don't ever do this to me again.
Sonny: Carly, I'm --
Carly: No, I'm not going to ask you to promise to never keep a secret from me because I know that's just setting us up to fail. But there's a difference between family and business, so... don't ever keep a secret from me about family again.
Sonny: I won't.
Jason: That illness almost killed you. Nothing you did while you were sick was your fault. You understand that.
Sam: You kept asking me over and over if I was okay, and I knew for weeks that I wasn't. Why couldn't I be honest with you, of all people? What if that connection we shared is lost because of me?
Jason: Okay. I'm gonna stop you. We haven't lost the connection between us. That's not gonna happen. You can trust in that. You can trust me.
Sam: I do. I trust you. I just don't know if I trust myself anymore.
