Carly: Hey.

Michael: Hey.

Carly: Uh, do you have a second? I need to talk to you about your father.

Griffin: I'm sorry to stop by unannounced like this.

Sonny: Always a pleasure. Can I get you a drink?

Griffin: No. Thank you.

Sonny: Well, I can see this is not a social call, so...

Griffin: Yeah, you could say that. Okay.

Sonny: Well, let's just cut to the chase. What's on your mind?

Griffin: Are you planning to kill Ava Jerome?

[Monitors beeping]

Ava: [Whimpers softly]

Epiphany: Hey, hey! Easy, there.

Ava: It's broken.

Epiphany: Everything seems to be in working order.

Ava: Check it again.

Epiphany: Look, you've been given the maximum dose.

Ava: How long can I last like this? Spending the rest of my life either drugged out of my mind or in so much pain that I want to scream? What kind of life is that?

Laura: Let's do it. Let's move in together.

Kevin: Really?

Laura: Really.

Kevin: Okay!

Laura: I love you so much.

Kevin: I love you.

Laura: Oh.

Spencer: Ahem! And what about me?

Laura: Were you eavesdropping?

Spencer: Grandmother, it's a public park. I happened to be within hearing distance. You were talking about moving in with each other?

Laura: Kevin has invited us to move in to his house. What would you think about that?

Spencer: Well, it depends.

Kevin: On what?

Spencer: What are your intentions for my grandmother?

Jason: What's up? Are you okay?

Sam: No. I don't think I am.

Jason: Does this has something to do with what happened on the roof?

Sam: Jason, you almost got yourself killed! What the hell were you thinking?

Olivia: No, no, no no. Thank you. Thank you so much. You've been absolutely no help whatsoever! That back-stabbing vulture! I will show her a conflict of interest.

Ned: Wow! I'd hate to be the person on the other end of that phone call.

Olivia: No, no. I am the one that you need to feel sorry for.

Ned: Why? Who was that?

Olivia: Diane Miller. I always thought she was supposed to be some -- some legal super hero able to leap tall cases in a single bound. What does she do? She talks. She talks, talks, talks, talks for 15 minutes, and then she tells me she can't take our case!

Ned: What?

Olivia: Hey, get this. Get this. Conflict of interest, huh? So, you tell me. How am I gonna find a lawyer who can keep Leo away from Julian?

Julian: Hi. I know visiting hours are almost over, but I was hoping I could see my sister.

Epiphany: [Sighs] Okay. You can have a few minutes -- but after that, I have to change her bandages.

Ava: The worst part about this, other than the considerable pain, is hearing people talk about me like I'm a piece of furniture.

[Beeping continues]

Ava: If I were a person, now, they'd have to look at me.

Julian: Well, I'm looking at you now. I have to say, you look a whole lot better than yesterday.

Ava: [Laughs, sobs]

Julian: Come on. You're not gonna let this beat you, are you? I mean, you're Ava Jerome. You can get through a little hospital stay. What the hell is this?

Ava: It's a DNR so that if my heart stops again or I stop breathing, then they won't do anything medically to resuscitate me. They'll let me die. Unless, of course, you want to put me out of my misery right now.

Sonny: What makes you think I want to harm Ava?

Griffin: I found you looming over her bed, chart in hand. I'm starting to regret not calling security.

Sonny: Well, I told you. I was visiting.

Griffin: You think I don't know how you do business? An eye for an eye, right? That's how it works? And you know where it leads. I saw your regret for the path your life had taken just before Morgan died.

Sonny: Morgan is dead because of Ava. I don't want to hear your lectures, Father!

Griffin: Look, I respect your grief, but not if you give in to your desire for revenge.

Sonny: Okay, you know what? You don't have to worry, because I have no plans to kill Ava.

Michael: What about Dad?

Carly: It's good news, okay? It is. It's something you've been trying to arrange, you know. I won't be keeping your dad's business assets. I'm gonna sign everything back over to him.

Michael: So, does that mean that you guys --

Carly: We're getting divorced. I just wouldn't feel right keeping them. They never belonged to me, really. And we just want this to be as friendly as possible.

Michael: Oh, I'm glad to hear it. But, uh, what changed?

Nelle: Hi! Yes, yes! I'd love to come in for an interview tomorrow. Uh, I mean, it's been a crazy couple weeks, but I got to be honest. I don't remember applying for this position. Oh. Someone referred me. Who?

Jason: Listen to me. Costa's in custody. It's over. I took a couple of punches, but I'm fine.

Sam: Yeah, but what if you weren't? Why did you go out there alone? Why didn't you call for backup?

Jason: And wait?

Sam: [Sighs]

Jason: That's not who I am. That's not who we are. You know that.

Sam: He's not safe. The threat is still out there. [Groans]

Jason: Hey. Sam? Are you okay? What's going on?

Kevin: You, uh, you want to know my intentions for Laura?

Spencer: Mm-hmm. Are you serious about her, or is this just a casual fling?

Laura: [Gasps] Spencer!

Kevin: No, no, no, no, no. That's a fair question. Just to be clear, I'm in no place to speak for your grandmother. So you'll have to ask her what her feelings are about our relationship. But as to my feelings, I can tell you that I pledge my intentions will be honorable.

Spencer: Define to me "honorable."

Sam: I'm fine, Jason. I'm not the one chasing after some assassin without a thought for my family.

Jason: Whoa. That's not fair. I'm always thinking about my family.

Sam: We have two kids. If something happened to you, they would lose their father!

Jason: Sam, it's... come on. [Laughing] You're not gonna lose me.

Sam: That's not a promise that you can make.

Jason: Yeah, you're right. Nobody can make that promise. All we can do is live our lives and hope for the best.

Sam: [Scoffs] Okay. If you say so.

Jason: You know what? I think that everything we've been through the last few months has finally caught up to you and you're exhausted.

Sam: What are you talking about? I'm not worried about you, because I'm tired! I'm worried about you because you're risking your life and it scares me!

Jason: You don't have to worry about me. Whatever's bothering you, we're gonna fix it, okay? I promise you that, okay?

Sam: [Sighs]

Jason: Just calm down.

Julian: What is this, some kind of a gallows humor? You're trying to get a reaction out of me?

Ava: Relax, Julian. It's not like I'm asking you to put a pillow over my face.

Julian: Oh, no, no, no. You're taking the legal way out. You know, ordering doctors not to save your life!

Ava: That's right, my life. Mine. A life I've lived on my terms. Not at the mercy of doctors and nurses.

Julian: They're trying to help you.

Ava: I know. What can they really do for me? I'm burned over half my body, Julian. What can they do? You see? You got nothing to say 'cause you know it. You know as well as I do that the only thing I have to look forward to is a lifetime of pain. It's the only reason that Sonny even let me live.

Griffin: You won't regret letting go of your desire for vengeance.

Sonny: You think I'm letting go?

Griffin: Isn't that what you just said?

Sonny: I said I wasn't gonna finish Ava off, and I'm not. You know why? 'Cause I don't need to. As long as every time she breathes there's pain, I can do with that.

Griffin: You're taking pleasure in her suffering.

Sonny: No, I'm not taking pleasure in anything! She is where she is. That's God's will. But my son is dead, because of Ava! Last weeks of his life, he was living in hell because of Ava. She sabotaged his mental health, and it ended up killing him! So the way I see it, the universe is balancing the scales!

Griffin: I don't see the world that way, Sonny.

Sonny: Oh, don't tell me you feel sorry for that bitch.

Griffin: I know she caused you unimaginable pain. I can't pretend to understand the loss of a child. But what I do know is what our mutual faith has taught both of us -- that no soul is beyond redemption.

Carly: The damage has been done to our relationship. I'm not sure it can ever be repaired. But that doesn't mean we have to be mean to each other or hate each other. We deserve better than that.

Michael: No, yeah. I agree. I'm very glad you realize that.

Carly: I'm sorry. I know that you've been trying to tell me that, and I'm sorry you had to work so hard to get through to me.

Michael: Hey, I didn't get through to you, Mom. It's something you had to figure out by yourself.

Carly: Well, I'm glad you stood by me while I did that.

Michael: Always.

Carly: [Laughs] [Sighs] Mm. [Laughs]

Carly: What was that?

Kevin: Well, Spencer, you make a good point. Honor as a concept is vague.

Spencer: Mm-hmm.

Kevin: So let me be more specific. I love your grandmother very much, and I would never leave either of you in the lurch. I can promise you, Spencer. I am in this for the long haul.

Spencer: Does that mean you're gonna marry her?

Laura: You know what, honey? I think that's enough questions for now.

Spencer: Well, don't you want to know the answer?

Kevin: Spencer, come here. You see, both me and your grandmother have been married before, so that's not something we want to rush into.

Spencer: Why not?

Kevin: Because if we ever do make that leap, it'll be forever.

Olivia: Julian came to see me, basically demanding a visit with Leo, which is bad enough. But then, Alexis shows up out of the blue defending the man like he did not put her knife to her throat and try to kill her, like he hasn't looked in her face and lied 100,000 times! I swear to you, if Sam hadn't stepped in, I swear she would have offered to represent him.

Ned: That would've been quite the turnaround.

Olivia: I'm not giving up without a fight, Ned! You know what? You know what? I don't need a lawyer from Port Charles. I got a cousin in SoHo who's got a killer family lawyer. I know she'll go to bat for me.

Ned: So, you are ready to move forward with this?

Olivia: I don't think I can afford not to! I don't know how much legal leverage Julian's adding up.

Ned: That's not what I meant.

Olivia: Well...

Ned: Are you sure a custody suit is the right way to go?

Julian: What are you talking about? Sonny was here, in this room?

Ava: Mm-hmm. He made a point of letting me live. All the better to watch me suffer.

Julian: [Sighs] That is just... I don't understand why you would mess with Morgan's meds in the first place. I mean, you had to know that would put you in Sonny's crosshairs.

Ava: I wasn't thinking about Sonny. I was thinking about my daughter. I didn't want her to feel tied to Morgan out of some misguided loyalty. I needed to protect her! Are you gonna stand there and tell me that you haven't done things that you regret to protect your family? I would take it back if I could, but I can't. [Sighs] I just want this to be over.

Julian: Ava. Ava, hey. Now you listen to me. That's what Sonny wants. He wants you to quit. Do not let him win.

Ava: That's pretty easy for you to say. You're home at night and sleep in your own bed, and you can forget about what happened to me for a few hours at a time at least. I don't have that luxury.

Julian: Sweetheart, that's not what I'm saying. I just -- I just wish I could help you somehow.

Ava: I know. You know, you don't have to be here. There's no reason for both of us to suffer.

Julian: If you're gonna be stuck here, I'm not going anywhere.

Sonny: You know I respect our faith, and I didn't mean to say "bitch" earlier. But the way you're talking to me, it seems like you don't respect me.

Griffin: I respect everyone, Sonny. That's why I have to give Ava the same consideration I give you or anyone else.

Sonny: Right, but you expect me to forgive the woman who's responsible for my son's death?

Griffin: If you're following the tenants of your religion, then yes.

Sonny: It's like what you said earlier. You don't know what it's like to lose a child. You don't know what it's like to see the woman you love who's pregnant, and you see her go through the pregnancy, and you hold the little baby in your arms and you see him become a toddler and a small child, and then he becomes a fine young man. You don't know what it's like to watch your son, who has the same illness you have, conquer it and then have it stolen from him by some heartless piece of garbage. [Voice breaking] You don't know what it feels like for your son to die, because it's just some stupid and pointless, 'cause someone messed with his mind. You don't know what that feels like, Father. So don't stand there and tell me I need to forgive, 'cause I don't know if I will now or ever!

Griffin: Forgiveness is the only way to heal.

Sonny: Yeah? You think? You forgive Julian? When you look at him, the man who killed your father, do you see somebody worthy of redemption? I didn't think so.

Griffin: Look, I'm gonna go. And you know what? Despite our differences, I'll be praying for you to find some peace from your grief.

Sonny: And I appreciate your prayers. And let me tell you something about Ava, if you think her soul can be redeemed. No. [Whispers] She never had one to begin with.

[Cell phone rings]

Sonny: What is it? What?

Michael: You know what? It's probably Danny. Yeah, he and Scout are visiting. He and Annabelle the second are probably exploring.

Carly: Oh.

Michael: Last week, they put a hole through a wall upstairs and broke a vase. It was all...

Carly: Wow! [Laughs]

Michael: Anyway, I'm really glad you and Dad are working through this, you know? You're always best when you're on the same side.

Carly: Yeah. I mean, it's really important for us to put up a united front -- make sure Ava's punished for what she did to Morgan.

Michael: Yeah, I hope the DA files maximum charges. Now that Nelle's given her statement, I'm sure those charges are gonna stick.

Carly: Statement won't mean anything if Nelle doesn't testify.

Michael: She will.

Carly: You never told me what you were doing in Nelle's hospital room. Were you just being kind? That's it, right? I mean, you don't have feelings for Nelle?

Sam: Hey.

Jason: Hey.

Sam: Hi.

Jason: So luckily, Monica said no problem, the kids can stay the night.

Sam: Oh, good. She didn't ask why you were calling?

Jason: I told her we needed a night to ourselves.

Sam: Okay. I was thinking, and you were probably right, of course. I was worried about you, and it doesn't help when I've only had, like, three or four hours of sleep a night.

Jason: You mean three or four hours if you're lucky.

Sam: [Laughs] My mom told me with two kids it was three times the work, and I should've believed her.

Jason: Yeah. You know what? Maybe you should just turn in early. Catch up on lost time.

Sam: Speaking of lost time, I have something that I want to kind of make up for. I snapped at you earlier today, and I wanted to tell you that I am sorry. You were protecting Jake, and that's all you could do. And I overreacted just a little. [Laughs] But it's only because I love you so much, and I don't ever want to lose you.

Jason: You're never gonna lose me.

Sam: Promise?

Jason: I promise. I love you.

Spencer: It's only natural that Dr. Collins would love you, but that doesn't necessarily mean that you love him, too.

Laura: You know, I don't think this is really your business.

Spencer: Well, it is if you accept his invitation to live together because of me.

Laura: Why would I do that?

Spencer: Grandmother, I know you know that I'm not happy living with Aunt Lulu and Uncle Dante. And I'm definitely not happy sharing a room with Rocco. But maybe you think that moving in with Dr. Collins would solve our housing dilemma, but I wouldn't want you to get into a romantic relationship with somebody just because you want to put a roof over my head.

Laura: [Laughs] No, honey. Come here. Come here. That's not how it is, okay? I want to move in with Kevin, because I love him. I love him very much, and that's all I'm gonna say about this. Now, as far as our housing arrangement, I think you do have a right to voice your opinion on that one. But I will make the final decision. Okay? So, what do you think?

Michael: We all know what Nelle did, and we all know it was wrong, right? We've had to wade through the fallout. But so has Nelle. Look, she's trying to turn her life around. She deserves credit for that, Mom!

Carly: You're a good man. You are. You have a much more forgiving soul than I ever did. If someone ever hurt me, all I wanted to do was hurt them back. Guess that's why your dad and I got along so well. Here's what I know, Michael. Nelle set out to sabotage our family, and she succeeded. If you let her in, she's gonna do the same thing to you. She will hurt you, Michael.

[Cell phone rings]

Carly: Hello?

Sonny: Carly? It's me. I have to see you right now. It's important.

Carly: Okay. I'll be right there. Sorry, I got to go.

Michael: Yeah, I'll walk you out.

Carly: No, no, that's okay. I parked by the gatehouse. I don't feel like walking through the house. I'm just gonna go out the terrace.

Michael: All right.

Carly: I love you.

Michael: I love you, too. I know. Okay. [Sighs]

Nelle: [Sighs]

Michael: Hey. So, uh, how much of that did you hear?

Nelle: Enough.

Olivia: The last thing that I want is to get into some knock-down, drag-out custody battle with Julian, but I don't think I have any choice. He will not listen to reason. Believe me, I have tried.

Ned: I think that we have to be as rational as possible.

Olivia: Are you saying that I am being irrational?

Ned: No. No. What I'm saying is that right now, you have full custody of Leo. And any visitation that Julian has is at your discretion. If you take Julian to family court and you lose, they could award him joint custody.

Olivia: So, what am I supposed to do?

Ned: Be patient.

Olivia: Yeah. That's easier said than done.

Ned: Okay, Liv. I know it's not your strong suit, but if you can just wait until after Julian goes to trial. Because if he's found guilty of everything that he's been charged with, you could ask the court to strip him of all of his rights.

Olivia: Yeah, well, that's a really good plan except for one thing. What if he's not found guilty?

Ned: Then we'll deal with that then. Okay? Together. And as far as keeping Leo safe from Julian's enemies, there's no place safer than the Quartermaine compound. We have staff. We have security. If it makes you feel any better, we can even dig a moat. [Laughs]

Olivia: [Sighs] You know, we're still not moving into that place until you and I are officially hitched.

Ned: You and Leo spend every night there.

Olivia: I know, but it's not the same as filling out change-of-address forms and clearing out closets and all that good stuff. That's got to wait till we are married.

Ned: Well, we better get married soon, because I don't want to spend another minute without you -- closets and all.

Olivia: Mmm.

Julian: I know things seem hopeless right now, but I mean, you have to admit that we've been in worse jams than this before.

Ava: Hmm! When?

Julian: We've both been presumed dead. We're gonna get through this together. I promise.

[Door opens]

Ava: Thank you.

Epiphany: I need to see to your sister's bandages. You can wait outside if you'd like.

Julian: I will. You hang tough.

[Door closes]

Sonny: Redemption? I didn't think so.

Sam: Jason's not safe. Your family's not safe. Danger is everywhere. You have to protect them.

Epiphany: No sign of infection. That's good. Okay. I need to re-bandage your wound.

Ava: Wait.

Epiphany: What's wrong?

Ava: I'd like to see what I look like.

Griffin: Mr. Jerome.

Julian: You don't need to leave. I know you're one of Ava's doctors, and I don't want to impede her treatment so I'll leave.

Griffin: No, I just -- I'm off duty. I just came by to see how your sister was doing.

Carly: Hey. What's going on? Why did you need to see me right away? Is everything okay?

Sonny: I got a call from the casino manager on the island, and there's some issue with the liquor tariffs. So they can't do any more shipments unless somebody signs the paperwork, and it's got to be notarized on the property.

Carly: What does this have to do with me?

Sonny: Well, I mean, you're the owner.

Michael: I hate to break it to you, but you do not have a future as either a thief or a spy.

Nelle: Well, I'm not usually this clumsy, but let's face it. Your mom makes me super nervous.

Michael: Yeah, well, there's no cure for that except for, I guess, time.

Nelle: Funny, I always think of you as a realist.

Michael: Yeah. As opposed to...

Nelle: Completely delusional? Your mom's never gonna forgive me.

Michael: [Sighs] Okay. Maybe "forgive" is a bit of a strong word, but "tolerate," I think, is definitely achievable.

Nelle: I would just prefer to avoid if at all possible.

Michael: And yet, you came to see me here. Well, true, this is not my mom's house, but she is here a lot. Fair warning.

Nelle: Oh. Well, I try and be more careful next time.

Michael: There's gonna be a next time?

Nelle: Okay. Let me just tell you why I'm here this time. I had a recruiter call, say they were interested in my CV.

Michael: Seriously? That's great! What's the job?

Nelle: You should know. I mean, I did some Googling. Turns out the company is a subsidiary of ELQ. Any idea who refereed me?

Michael: Okay. I may have given them your name.

Nelle: Ah!

Michael: But you got that interview on your own merit, just like how you're gonna get this job -- on your own merit.

Nelle: Mnh-mnh. I turned it down.

Michael: Why?

Nelle: What's gonna happen when your mom finds out that I'm working for you at ELQ?

Michael: My mom does any have any stock in ELQ, and she definitely doesn't have any control over hiring.

Nelle: Look, I would just prefer not to cause any more trouble for either of you.

Michael: Okay, look. Now, I love my mom, and I respect her opinion to a point. I don't live my life to please her. And I'm not gonna waste any time worrying about how she's gonna react when she finds out that we're seeing each other.

Nelle: Wait. Back up. When did we agree we were seeing each other?

Kevin: So what do you say, Spencer? Are you cool with moving into my place?

Spencer: I think it could be fun. You're not a bad guy, Dr. Collins.

Kevin: Well, since we'll be living under the same roof, it's okay if you call me Kevin.

Spencer: Deal.

Kevin: All right. You guys want to see your new digs?

Spencer: Sure. I'll start measuring for my furniture. And, I'm not gonna be sleeping on pull-out in the den, am I?

Kevin: Not to worry. I have a spare bedroom. I will have to move out my medical journals, though.

Spencer: On it.

Kevin: And my cryptography books.

Spencer: Done.

Kevin: Oh, and my gaming systems.

Spencer: Whoa, whoa, whoa, buddy. Now, let's not get hasty! I mean, come on! [Laughs]

Ned: What do you say we get married this summer? What do you think? First week of July?

Olivia: I think that that sounds really, really soon.

Ned: The sooner the better! Hey, if anyone's up for the challenge, it's you. It's me. It's us.

Olivia: [Sighs] I guess you're right about that. And thank you, Ned. Thank you for talking me out of lawyering up against Julian. I know you're right. It's the smarter play. I just -- I need to feel like I am doing something!

Ned: I know, I know. You're scared. It's not that. I get.

Olivia: It's not just that. I want Leo to have your name. It's symbolic. I want him to feel that he's a part of this family and that you are his father.

Ned: Liv, I grew up with my father's name. It didn't make him any better of a parent, or make me love him any more. Symbols don't make a family. Love does. And Leo is my family. You are my family.

Olivia: [Sighs]

Julian: I know I've wronged a lot of people, including your father. I don't know if that's possible to atone for, but I'll be damned if I don't try.

Griffin: Yeah, well, I'm glad to hear it.

Julian: Hey, listen. You're visiting my sister off duty? You guys friends or something?

Griffin: We prayed together.

Julian: Really?

Griffin: Yes. Is there a problem with that?

Julian: No. No. In fact, I was gonna ask if you could keep doing it. She needs all the prayers she can get.

Ava: There has to be a mirror around here somewhere.

Epiphany: You don't need any distractions right now. You need to focus on healing.

Ava: Don't you think I'm already distracted? Lying here, wondering? I need to see the damage for myself with my own eyes.

Epiphany: It's too soon. You haven't even started treatment yet. Once you've had surgery --

Ava: What? I'll look like I used to? That's what I thought. I need to know what I'm dealing with. Please?

Epiphany: It's your decision.

Ava: [Shocked cry] No! No! N-o-o-o-o-o!

Nelle: Michael, did I miss the part where we agreed to see each other?

Michael: Isn't that what happened when I brought you back from the hospital?

Nelle: I don't see the point in defining our relationship when we're just...talking.

Michael: Well, as long as we're talking, you should know that any day of my life is better with you in it. And sooner or later, we should figure out what to do about the way we feel for each other.

Nelle: Right now, I'm only here for the job referral. Which I appreciate, but I can't have you taking care of me, Michael. I mean, I got to take care of myself.

Michael: That was a total evasion.

Nelle: It's the best I can do for now.

Michael: Okay. [Sighs]

Carly: Since when did I become the owner of the casino?

Sonny: Uh, about the time you became owner of everything else that's mine.

Carly: I don't remember seeing it on the list.

Sonny: Well, that was separate because, um -- it was filed separately, because it was on the property of the island.

Carly: You hid it from me.

Sonny: Uh, yeah, well, more or less.

Carly: [Laughs] You hid it from me, but now you need me to help clear up the liquor tariffs. Wow.

Sonny: Exactly.

Carly: Yeah, uh-huh.

Sonny: Well, you know, no liquor, bad business.

Carly: Okay, fine. I'll do it.

Sonny: Great. I'll have the jet fueled, and then we could probably leave tomorrow.

Carly: We? You're coming with me?

Sonny: Well, there's not point in going alone, Carly.

Carly: This is strictly business, right, Sonny?

Sonny: Yeah, yeah. Scout's honor.

Carly: [Laughs] We both know you're no Boy Scout.

Sonny: [Laughs] Yeah.

On the next "General Hospital" --

Nina (to Nathan): What's going between you and Amy Driscoll?

Julian (to Alexis): What are you doing here?

Nelle (to Bobbie): Do you really have to make it your life's mission to destroy mine?

Josslyn (to Michael): Mom's getting back together with Sonny, isn't she?

Sonny (to Carly): We're staying here tonight.

Jason (to Sam): Why are you holding a knife?
