Tracy: Luke, I didn't expect you back so early.
Luke: No? Since when do you serve tea to out-of-towners?
Claudia: Seems Tracy would like to pay me to stay out of your life. Thing is, I don't need the money, and I don't much feel like going.
Lulu: I have Kate Howard for Ms. Donner. One moment.
Kate: Hi, Celeste, how are you?
Sonny: Is she here?
Kate: Okay, great, could you just send me an email on that? Yes, I'll have someone on my end take care of it. I -- Celeste, I actually have to run. Thank you.
Kate: How are you? How's Michael?
Sonny: I haven't seen him.
Patrick: The nature of Michael's injury is severe. Although it was a successful surgery, there's a strong likelihood that Michael will never wake up from the coma.
Patrick: Carly, I wish I had better news, but I don’t.
Jason: Carly --
Carly: You're wrong. Michael is getting better. He's getting better. I am his mother. I can tell he's getting better.
Nadine: So this is why you wanted me to stay, to play trains?
Nikolas: [Laughter] No, I got it for Spencer’s birthday, but I don't know how to put it together.
Nadine: I guess it's Greek to you, huh?
Nikolas: What? Excuse me?
Nadine: The expression "it's Greek to me" -- it's what people say when they don't understand something.
Nikolas: Oh, right. Yeah, yeah, except I actually speak Greek and Russian and a couple of others.
Nadine: You do not. Okay, say something to me in Russian.
Nikolas: Okay, um --
Nadine: Wow, I'm impressed. And I couldn't agree more.
Nikolas: Do you know what I said?
Nikolas: Well, then what was it?
Nadine: You said, "Put this train together and I will give you a pony." No problem. We just need a little common sense and a channel lock wrench. Oh, right. Yeah, we have one just like this in Peds, actually. Every dad should build his kid a train set. So this is going to be easy. I just need a Philips head.
Nikolas: A who? Who's Philip?
Nadine: A Philips head screwdriver. Okay, just give me the toolbox.
Nikolas: I'll ask Alfred about that.
Nikolas: The butler.
Nikolas: Alfred, could you -- could you come in here, please? Right, okay, thanks. It's going to take a few minutes. He's breaking in the new chef.
Nadine: Oh. Well, while we're waiting for Alfred, why don't you learn a thing or two?
Nikolas: Okay. Where do you suppose this goes?
Nadine: It's sort of like a jigsaw puzzle. You've had those, right?
Nikolas: Yeah, yeah, I had them as a kid, so?
Nadine: Good, so it's not really about the specific piece. You just want to look at the shape of it and then try to find another one with the same shape. So look for a male and female.
Nadine: The male part fits into -- I mean, come on --
Nikolas: Oh, right, okay.
Nadine: You must have learned this in basic woodshop, right?
Nikolas: No, no, no, I didn’t. I never had woodshop at school.
Nadine: Well, it was either that or Home Ec, and I can't really see you baking a tuna casserole, so you must have taken something.
Nikolas: I only attended public school for a couple of months. The rest of my education has been from private tutors.
Nadine: Hmm. Well, looks like I'm going to have to give you a crash course on everything you should've learned in high school. Here.
Kate: Lulu, you're done here for the day. Just run these errands, and then check back with me later. You can go.
Lulu: I'm praying for Michael, Sonny. Johnny didn't do it. He was with me at the Haunted Star when it happened.
Kate: We're done here, Lulu.
Kate: I am trying to remember if I was that obsessed with myself and my boyfriend at her age.
Sonny: Well, she probably saw me tear into Jason at the hospital about not doing his job going after the Zaccharas, so it probably made her a little nervous.
Kate: What can I get you?
Sonny: I just wanted to see you.
Kate: You want to tell me why you're not with Michael?
Sonny: I did it all wrong. Now I can't go see my son without making it worse for Carly.
Carly: Michael's color has been better since this morning. Jason noticed it, too. Jason, tell him.
Jason: It seems like it.
Robin: Michael's blood pressure has risen since the surgery. That means he'll have a little bit more color in his cheeks, but he still may not wake up.
Carly: I didn't ask your opinion. And you of all people -- you don't have a say in this.
Robin: Page me if you need me.
Carly: And you, the brilliant Dr. Drake -- you can either tell me now that you believe in my son, because if you don't I'll find someone who does.
Alexis: I will sit with you, but I'm not going to have a drink. It would be highly inappropriate, and then I have to go over to Sonny's and question him about Michael.
Diane: We have a police commissioner and several very handsome detectives. Let them do their job.
Alexis: He needs special handling.
Diane: Sonny is my client. I promise you he's not going anywhere.
Alexis: You're a very bad influence.
Diane: Yes, I'm a very, very bad influence. You are wound tight as a drum, you're terrified for your children, you're incapable of rational thought. In short, Alexis, you're an utter mess. You need a drink. You need a double. You will thank me for this later.
Coleman: Ladies, what can I get for you?
Diane: What's it going to be, sweet and sticky or down and dirty?
Alexis: I'll have a glass of chardonnay.
Coleman: Chardonnay, and why don't you let me make you one of my specialties?
Diane: Why don't I let you do that?
Coleman: What do you say?
Coleman: You like that?
Diane: You know, I have to admit this. Every once in a while when I am dozing off over a warm copy of "Equitable Remedies: Restitution and Damages," I think about him.
Alexis: Good God, Diane.
Diane: Oh, please. From the top of his tousled head to the tips of his steel-toed cowboy boots, this man is a pure dose of testosterone.
Alexis: You're out of your mind.
Diane: Well, come on. I mean, once -- you know -- once we're done, I would show him to the door politely and firmly. A man like this, once he's served his purpose, there's really no need to keep him around.
Alexis: I hope you're speaking hypothetically.
Diane: It's pure speculation. It's just that it's been so long between drinks of water. Oh, give me a break. You can't tell me that he hasn't crossed your mind at least once or twice.
Coleman: Here we go.
Diane: Why, Mr. Coleman, are you trying to get me drunk?
Coleman: Oh, not to worry, lady lawyer. I'll see you make it home safe. Sweet and sticky.
Diane: Excuse me?
Coleman: Yeah. The drink.
Coleman: Sweet and sticky. I chose sweet and sticky.
Diane: Yes, well, I'm -- not surprised.
Coleman: Yeah. Shame, shame.
Alexis: You know what? I am a mess. You're absolutely right.
Alexis: And I need to talk, so I hope you don't mind. In fact, I don't care if you mind because I'm going to talk anyway.
Diane: You go right ahead. I'm just going to be sitting here sipping on our sweet-and-sticky.
Alexis: You know, I'm obsessed about Michael and everything that happened here with Sonny. I -- I feel so upset for Carly. I can't even imagine what Sonny is going through. Yes, actually, I can, and you know what I'm worried about? That I'm going to go over there, and I'm going to just snap like a twig. I'm this tangled-up mess, and I'm going to unravel right on him and tell him that it is all his fault. He created this. He's a danger to everyone around him. This was bound to happen. Everybody knew it, and I don't wish it -- I don't wish that it happened, but it did, and it's inevitable.
Diane: That's harsh. It's true, but it's harsh.
Alexis: The truth is I'm maddest at myself. Because I'm the one who's really responsible for this. I created it. I knew who he was, and I did it anyway. I went there anyway. I slept with this man, and I had his baby, and as a result, we have this beautiful, beautiful, beautiful little girl. And there's finally proof that having Sonny as her father could get her shot.
Luke: Are you sure you want to do this now, Popsicle?
Claudia: You call her "Popsicle"?
Luke: When she's bad, I call her spanky buns.
Claudia: What does she call you?
Tracy: Deluded for having anything to do with you. I know what Lulu means to you, Luke, so I'm going to paint you a little picture, okay? There's a boy lying in a hospital bed with his skull shattered. Now, imagine for a moment that that child is not Michael Corinthos, but it's Lulu -- battered, broken, and near death -- because that's what you're going to have to live with if you allow John access to Lulu.
Carly: What Michael needs is for us to be positive. I mean, look at you. Look how amazing you are, and the doctors didn't give you a chance. And I was shot. It's possible, Jason. Everything is possible. And Michael knows that, don't you, baby? Don't you? Those doctors don't know you like I know you, and I know you're going to wake up and you're going to prove them all wrong.
Mike: Lulu called me last night, but I -- I thought I'd give things a chance to settle a little.
Carly: Look who came to see you, baby. Grandpa Mike's here.
Mike: Are you sure it's okay?
Carly: Yeah, talk to him. I want him to hear your voice.
Mike: Uh -- did Sonny take a break? I mean, maybe I could get him a cup of coffee or something.
Carly: Sonny left the hospital last night, and I haven't seen him since.
Kate: Why would you even question whether you should be with Michael?
Sonny: Well, you saw me in the hospital unloading on Jason. I -- I pretty much said it was his fault that Michael got shot.
Kate: You were emotional, Sonny.
Sonny: Carly holds me responsible. She's right.
Kate: What Carly said was in the heat of the moment. You both said things out of the worst kind of pain and fear, and what matters, Sonny, is that you have a child -- Michael -- and he needs you.
Sonny: I got to do what's right by my son. I don't know how to do that anymore!
Claudia: Old "spanky buns" there certainly has a flair for the dramatic, doesn't she?
Tracy: Lulu's life is in danger. Hanging around with Johnny is a tragic headline waiting to happen.
Luke: If Lulu chooses to hang with trouble, there is nothing I can do to stop her.
Claudia: But I do like how "Popsicle" there uses Lulu as a cover for being jealous of me.
Tracy: You are a bug on my headlight. You are something stinky on the bottom of my shoe. The only point of this conversation is my stepdaughter, Lulu.
Lulu: What are you guys talking about?
Luke: Your favorite subject, princess -- you.
Claudia: Your stepmother would like to pay me to get John to sell his shares of the Haunted Star, but something tells me that's not going be okay with John. Have a good day.
Lulu: Um, Claudia, I actually saw Sonny this morning, and I told him that Johnny had nothing to do with Michael's shooting.
Claudia: Why are you telling me this?
Lulu: Because I think Sonny heard me.
Claudia: Good. I hope you're right.
Tracy: I rest my case. If you don't get Lulu away from John Zacchara, she's going to be mob roadkill.
Alexis: I don't get it. I honestly don't get it. We are intelligent women. Why do we keep being drawn to these narcissistic, impenechable --
Alexis: Clichéd meatheads?
Diane: It's one of the great mysteries of the ages, my dear.
Alexis: I mean, we're smart. For God's sake, we're insightful. We're attractive.
Alexis: We have very good taste.
Alexis: And -- and we fall into these patterns, these predictable, boring patterns.
Diane: Oh, God, Alexis, tell me I'm not becoming a cliché.
Alexis: You're walking a fine line. We all are. You, me, Kate Howard --
Diane: Who, by the way, has fallen into the same miserable trap.
Alexis: We both should be smart enough to know that getting involved with Sonny will only lead to heartache and gunshot wounds.
Diane: But a man like Sonny is tremendous in bed. I mean, not Sonny specifically. Not that I -- not that I would know, you know, or ever want to find out or anything. It's just, a man like that is, you know, passionate and insatiable.
Alexis: Stop it! You know what's wrong with that, is that they're the ones that are in control. I don't want them to be in control. I want to be in control. I want us to be in control for once!
Diane: Then why do you keep picking the same kind of guy? Sonny, Ric, Jerry Jacks.
Alexis: He's a client, with an accent.
Diane: You know what I think? I think we need to get in touch with our inner rebel and find a safer way to satisfy it.
Alexis: Fine, got any ideas?
Diane: Yeah, let's buy hogs. Let's buy big, fat Harleys.
Alexis: I don't have time to buy a Harley. I have to question Sonny. Oh --
Diane: Whoa, whoa. No, no, no, no, you need to get a cab.
Alexis: Why, so you can go home with Coleman?
Diane: Fine, we'll split the cab fare.
Alexis: Chicken. [Clucks]
Alexis: How's Michael?
Patrick: You want the truth or the Carly version?
Diane: What does that mean?
Patrick: Carly thinks Michael's going to be fine. I have learned to not get between a mother and her instincts.
Carly: It doesn't surprise me at all that Robin would give up on Michael, but I expected more from Dr. Drake. I mean, you don't possibly believe -- look at me, Jason. Tell me you haven't given up on Michael.
Jason: I -- I know that doctors don't know everything.
Carly: Yeah. I mean, you survived the impossible. You made it through your accident, and no one thought you would. Doctors are wrong all the time, and they're wrong about Michael. He's going to wake up. He's going to wake up. You are.
Sonny: I had to fight for Michael; I had to fight the Quartermaines. But I knew that I would be his father because it was a -- it was a fact of my life. We were great together.
Sonny: One day, right, he looked up at me, and he -- I was -- I was tucking him in, all right, and I was telling him that he's going to be safe and, you know, that I loved him and all. So as I was walking away, he said, "Dad, I love you." And that was the first time he had ever said that to me, and I thought my chest was going to explode. I never -- after hearing him say that, I -- that was when I realized what it means to be a father.
Kate: I am not going to get that because it can't be that important.
Sonny: No, no, get it, get it. It's okay. I'll be fine. It's all right, I'm fine.
Mike: Hey. Oh, you are here. Well, this is terrific.
Mike: So I go by your house, certain I'm going to find you drowning in alcohol or God knows whatever, and Milo tells me you're over at Kate’s. Now, what the hell is wrong with you?
Kate: Okay, Mike, just stop it.
Mike: No, wait a minute. Your -- your son is lying unconscious in a hospital, and Max and Milo are more torn up about it than --
Kate: Oh, I don't think you want to go there, Mike. I don't think you want to talk about fathers who turn their backs on their sons. Now, this is my house. You either apologize to Sonny right now, or you can get the hell out.
Nikolas: Look who's up from his nap.
Nikolas: Look what we got. Look what we got for you. Isn't that neat? Trains. You love trains.
Nadine: I thing you two are going to be spending a lot of time with this train set.
Nikolas: Well, we couldn't have done it without you -- I know it fell.
Nadine: You got that right, although I'm sure Alfred would've helped. He seems very handy.
Nikolas: He is. Hand me that train right there.
Nadine: Oh, yeah.
Nikolas: I got it.
Nadine: Do you want to do this? See how they go like that?
Lulu: Who I date is nobody's business, especially yours, and my dad will back me up on that.
Luke: Yes, I will. Who you date is nobody's business.
Lulu: Thank you. So, if we could change the subject forever, that would be wonderful.
Luke: Before we do, let's discuss the concept of dating. Dating is going out to dinner and a movie, going dancing, or a concert, having sex or not. That's dating. When you spend your morning negotiating a truce between two rival factions of organized crime, that's not dating. That's insanity! You've put yourself in the middle of a mob war. That's not dating, that's stupid. When you refuse to see danger right in front of your face, that's stupidity. And I didn't raise my kids to be stupid!
Lulu: Oh. But you forget, you didn't raise us.
Luke: Next time it's not going to be Michael Corinthos laying in a hospital bed with a bullet in his brain. It's going to be you.
Lulu: I don't even know if I want to be with Johnny, but if I don't it will not be because I'm afraid.
Carly: Hey, you know what I was thinking? I was thinking that when you wake up you're probably going to have to stay in the hospital for a while. And it's most likely going to be a few good weeks of physical therapy. So I wanted to make this room like home. I thought I could go get your little TV and your DVD player and go pick out your favorite movies. And then I thought that I could go to the library and check out a whole bunch of books because I know how much you love to read. And then I realized that I should probably go and buy all those books because then we could donate them to the hospital library. It'd be very important for us to give things to people, you know, who are -- who are less fortunate than you are.
Carly: I just thought that you would like that a lot.
Jason: Hey. I spoke to Monica’s doctor at rehab, and she -- she doesn't know what happened. I should -- I should go tell her.
Carly: That should be me. That should be me. I should be filled with all Monica’s pain and anger. With all the lies I told, all the choices I made, where I thought it would be for Michael's good.
Carly: Look how smart I was, Jason. Look what a good mother I've been. He's in this bed because of the choices I've made.
Jason: You didn't do this alone, Carly. I've made choices, too. I'm as responsible as you are.
Jason: Are you going to be okay if I go?
Carly: Yeah. Michael and I are going to be okay, aren't we, baby?
Kate: Sonny isn't with Michael because of Carly. Carly is angry. She is looking for someone to blame, and that someone is Sonny because Michael was with us when he got shot.
Sonny: Kate, Kate, let me just talk to him.
Kate: No, Sonny, Mike needs to understand that you are staying away from Michael out of respect for his mother.
Mike: Kate's right. You're right. I'm sorry that I jumped on you. And I get that you're concerned about Carly, but however well-intentioned your reasons, staying away is a mistake. Michael needs to hear your voice. Sonny, Carly is yelling at doctors, she's clinging to Jason, and it's horrible. But Michael needs his father.
Sonny: You don't know. It's not that easy, Mike. What do you want me to say to you?
Mike: Of course it's not easy! He's fighting for his life. But, damn it, don’t make the same mistake I did, Sonny. Don't justify pulling away from your own kid, because I promise you, if you're not there for him right now when he needs you the most, you're going to hate yourself for the rest of your life. Now, you need to get over there, and you've got to fight for your child.
Nadine: There you go.
Nikolas: Excuse me.
Nadine: What's wrong?
Nikolas: Norma, could you come in the study, please, and get Spencer for me? Thank you.
Nadine: Are you okay?
Nikolas: Thank you, thank you for helping us. Spencer, thank Nadine, honey. She has to go now.
Nadine: Emily's here.
Nikolas: We'll play with the trains another time, okay? Okay? Promise. Excuse me, excuse me.
Nikolas: Hi, Norma, would you take him upstairs for me?
Norma: Of course, Mr. Cassadine.
Nikolas: Thank you.
Nadine: Emily's here, isn't she? Yeah, I can always tell. You were having such a good time, and then --
Nikolas: I did, I did. I had a wonderful time, and I'm grateful for everything, really. But I'm going to have to ask you to leave.
Nadine: Yeah. As my grandpa used to say, "Here’s your hat, what's your hurry?" Yeah, a girl can hardly refuse an offer like that, so, uh, thanks for everything, Nikolas. I'll see you later.
Emily: Nikolas, you shouldn't have done that.
Nikolas: I missed you.
Robin: Where are you?
Patrick: Wherever I am.
Robin: You're at Jake’s.
Patrick: Okay, that's a little bit creepy. What, can you see through the phone now, or something?
Robin: Uh, the jukebox, pool table, and you're drunk.
Patrick: I am considerate and caring and, yes, I've had a couple drinks. I'm a little drunk.
Robin: All very positive traits. Did you call me for a reason?
Patrick: I was just wondering if you needed anything, like maybe a father for your baby, or something.
Robin: That's not funny.
Patrick: Okay, well, how about some ice cream and ribs for old times' sake?
Robin: You know what, I think I'm okay right now. But that is very caring, considerate, and slightly drunk of you to ask. How about you?
Patrick: How about me?
Robin: Do you need anything?
Patrick: Yes, so I'll talk to you sometime.
Robin: Wait. What do you need?
Patrick: Coleman, hit me.
Claudia: This one's on me.
Carly: Hey, baby. Let's surprise Jason. He's going to be back here soon, and wouldn't it be so great if he walked in here and you were awake? Just squeeze my hand, Michael, okay?
Sonny: Carly -
Carly: Just squeeze --
Sonny: Can he squeeze your hand?
Carly: He's getting stronger.
Sonny: Can I spend some time with him?
Carly: Yeah, I'm sure he would like to hear your voice. But we're only allowing family in here.
Kate: Oh, I'll stay out of the way.
Sonny: No, Carly, Kate's part of my life. She cares about Michael. I want her here. I've been respectful of your feelings. Can you do the same for me?
Carly: I'm going to go stretch my legs.
Kate: Carly -- Carly, please wait. I want you to know that I'm truly sorry for what you are going through. And under any other circumstance, I would stay away rather than have my presence upset you.
Carly: So why are you here?
Kate: Because Michael's father is going through his own pain. And if Sonny needs me here, I guess that's something we all have to get used to.
Patrick: Do you have a relationship with your father?
Claudia: My father is a psychotic murderer. What's not to love?
Patrick: You know, you're wrong about Robin on pretty much every level. She's smart, strong, she hasn't let H.I.V. ruin her life. She's got a ton of courage.
Claudia: I just think that it's selfish to risk passing H.I.V. to a little baby. But, hey, that's just me. You guys are so in love, why don't you adopt or, you know, use a surrogate?
Patrick: She wants to carry, nurture, and feed and grow a baby. Modern medicine says she can do it with minimal risk.
Claudia: And you're okay with that?
Patrick: I never wanted to be a father. Not because of H.I.V., just because. That's why we broke up.
Claudia: Why did you get back together?
Patrick: A one-night stand and a defective condom.
Claudia: Oh, my God, you think that was a coincidence, don't you? You were set up.
Patrick: You know, that's probably your style, but it's not Robin’s.
Claudia: No, hey, it's classic. She probably timed your reunion to hit her cycle just right. See, now she's got the baby that she wanted and the baby-daddy -- that would be you -- under her thumb. Look, face it, the girl's not much for looks or personality, but she's got you snowballed. God, under her thumb.
Robin: Oh, no. You're in more trouble than I thought.
Monica: Jason. Hello.
Jason: Hi, how you doing?
Monica: Um, well, I'm better. I mean, it's one day at a time, as they say.
Jason: So, they're -- I mean, they're helping you? You trust them?
Monica: Well, I guess I'm learning to. I -- I think my biggest problem is learning to trust myself.
Jason: This isn't all your fault, Monica.
Monica: Well, it was my decision to drink.
Jason: You lost two people you loved.
Monica: Yes, but I certainly could've handled it in a much different way.
Jason: Some things hurt so bad that you can't carry them alone.
Monica: Has something happened?
Jason: Michael was shot.
Monica: Oh, my God.
Jason: I mean, he's alive, but he's in a coma.
Monica: Who's the doctor?
Jason: Patrick Drake. Robin's been consulting.
Monica: Tell me, please, tell me what happened.
Jason: Um -- oh, gosh. Sonny took Michael to the coffee warehouse to --
Monica: Oh --
Jason: Just to watch this big shipment come in, and then somebody took a shot at Sonny and they hit Michael.
Monica: Where did he hit him? Oh, Jason.
Jason: They don't think he's going to wake up.
Monica: Oh, baby. I'm sorry.
Kate: You should talk to him.
Sonny: Hey, buddy. It's your daddy. I love you so much. Your mom and I are never going to leave you. We're going to be waiting right here for you. We're actually going to be taking -- we're actually going to be taking turns, so that way when you wake up and open your eyes, we're going to be right here waiting for you. You remember I promised you a long time ago --
Sonny: That I would never leave you? Well, that stands today, because I'm your father, and you are not getting rid of me that easy. Because you are the very best part of me.
Alexis: How is he?
Sonny: His mother says he's getting better. Do we have to do this right now? Please?
Alexis: It'll only take a minute.
Kate: Sonny, I think that they can get their investigation going and they can find the monster who did this.
Det. Harper: This is what we know. You and your son and Ms. Howard were on the loading docks. Your people were unloading a shipment of beans; you had talked to the customs agents. Nothing unusual.
Sonny: No, I just -- it was -- the shipment was bigger than usual. That's all, there's nothing different about the whole situation.
Det. Harper: Did you have any sign that there was a shooter?
Sonny: I saw a reflection. I looked up, there was a rifle. So I didn't think, I just reacted. I -- Kate was right in front of me. I grabbed her, threw her to the ground because I didn't want her to be in the line of fire again.
Carly: You bastard.
Carly: You protected Kate instead of protecting your own son?
>> On the next "General Hospital" --
Emily: You're going to die because you're afraid to live without me?
Elizabeth: If something like this had happened to Jake, I wouldn't want to live.
Carly: You don't deserve to be a parent. You are not Michael's father anymore.
