Woman: Hi, Johnny. Wow. Look at you. You've turned into quite a man, despite things. How you doing, Daddy?
Anthony: Who are you?
Anthony: You're not Claudia. Who is this puttana pretending to be my daughter?
Claudia: Daddy, it's me, really.
Johnny: Claudia, what are you doing here?
Claudia: Ask Trevor -- he's the one who sent for me.
Sonny: It must be true what they say -- timing is everything. Obviously, Carly's not home, so I'm going to go ahead --
Kate: Jax and I were out talking, it started to rain, we got soaked --
Sonny: You don't owe me explanations about anything.
Jax: He's right, you donít. But I'll -- if you guys want to be alone --
Kate: No, no -- no, Jax, it's all right. Sonny's right -- we don't owe each other explanations, we don't owe each other anything.
[Truck horn honks]
Carly: Come on, Jax.
Sam: Agh -- get off -- agh! Leave --
Jason: Elizabeth, it's me. I just took a walk down the drive to see if you were coming, and I noticed that the roads are -- are really bad and you should've been here by now. I'm just -- I'm worried about you, or I'm just anxious to see you -- I don't know. Just, please, call me as soon as you get this, okay? Thanks.
Lucky: It's too late for me and Elizabeth. You know, there's always going to be a part of me that will love her. I mean, she was the first girl who made me understand what love could really be. I saw things I never even knew existed, and we were kids.
Lucky: So, we grew up. And growing up changes things, even love. Elizabeth and I, we have all this stuff between us now -- the lies and the hurt, affairs, addiction, children by other fathers. I mean, we've been through so much -- I mean, how we even put up with each other -- right now, I just appreciate the fact that she has separated herself away from Jason for the sake of Jake. I don't know how long it's going to last. Lu, it's okay, relax. I know you know that Jason is Jake's father. How could you not?
Lulu: Spinelli told me. I didn't tell anyone, I swear.
Lucky: Because of your loyalty to Jason?
Lulu: Be-- no, because I didn't know what I should or shouldn't do, so I kept my mouth shut. I am so sorry, Lucky. I just kept wondering what Mom would've said.
Lucky: Are you kidding? Mom -- she would've loved if Elizabeth and I were able to work it out. I mean, she was an incurable romantic. A card-carrying optimist -- that's the way she was always.
Lulu: Well, she had to be. She was married to Dad, she had no choice.
Lucky: Yeah, well, she looks past things, even the bad. Looks like I inherited the blinders for that but not the forgiveness.
Lulu: What happened with you and Sam?
Lucky: She did something that I don't know is forgivable.
Lulu: So she did something to you?
Lucky: I just saw the kind of person that she can be.
Lulu: Well, we can all be rotten people under the right circumstances.
Lucky: Or the wrong circumstances.
Lulu: Okay, I am not defending Sam -- I don't even like her. She -- you know, I just want you to be happy, and it seemed like Sam made you happy, kind of.
Lucky: Well, I've lived with enough lies, enough to last a lifetime. And Sam -- not even 10 minutes out that door, she called back and told me something else that wasn't true. And the idiot that I am, I was starting to believe what we had could be -- real.
Lulu: And now?
Lucky: Now? I don't care what happens.
Anthony: What are you doing bringing Claudia back here from -- from wherever the hell she was?
Claudia: Milan, Dad.
Trevor: You've changed.
Claudia: You mean from the scared little girl who's afraid of her own shadow? Afraid of you, afraid of Daddy? Yeah. But then I suppose that's why you asked me back, isn't it?
Trevor: No. I told you your father was failing. I thought you might like to see him.
Claudia: You mean one last time?
Anthony: Will you quit talking about me like I'm not in the room, will you? Who said I'm failing? Where's Maria? I want Maria. How many times do I have to ask? Who are you again? What, nobody's listening? I'm not speaking English? What? Somebody get me my wife, and the rest of you clear out!
Trevor: That's a good idea. We've got a lot to talk about.
Claudia: You and Johnny go. I want to stay and talk to my father. We have a lot of catching up to do.
Jax: Well, I think I'll just leave you guys alone --
Kate: No, really, Jax, that's not necessary. There's nothing that Sonny and I could possibly discuss that you don't already know.
Sonny: You sure about that?
Kate: Jax knows that you proposed to me --
Kate: And that I got confused.
Sonny: Confused? No, no, you ran.
Jax: Well, that's not the worst reflex for a woman in her situation.
Sonny: Well, you know, the -- the night got a little too much for Kate Howard, and it was too many reminders of the past.
Jax: Yeah. Yeah, Kate tells me she has a -- she has a pretty interesting background.
Sonny: She doesn't like to talk about it because, you know, it hurts too much, I guess -- I don't know.
Sonny: She doesn't -- she doesn't want to be reminded who she is.
Kate: It does hurt --
Sonny: Does it?
Kate: Too much, Sonny --
Sonny: Hmm. Okay.
Kate: Especially because I don't really have anyone to talk to about it. I mean, not somebody who will try to understand or give me the benefit of the doubt. But now I do.
Kate: That's right, Sonny. Jax now knows that the industrious Kate Howard of "Couture" magazine used to steal beer, meet you under the boardwalk of Coney Island, and make out in the sand. He knows that I was really Connie Falconeri.
Carly: Okay, we're going to be okay. We're going to be okay. We're both going to be okay.
Sonny: So you told Jax who you really are? But yet when we were in Bensonhurst at a restaurant, being waited on by an old friend of ours, you couldn't give an inch about who you were.
Kate: Sonny, I don't think this is the time to --
Sonny: You and his sister hung out together -- she cut your damn hair -- but you couldn't tell him who you were? You couldn't be Connie Falconeri for 10 minutes, knowing that it -- it would make his night to see us together?
Kate: No, I couldnít.
Sonny: Kate Howard couldn't!
Jax: Of course, you don't have things in your past that you wouldn't want dragged up in the middle of a polite conversation, Sonny?
Sonny: Jax, I know who I am, and I know where I came from, and I'm not having this conversation with you. So, listen, you want to live dangerously, you want to -- you want to hang out with candy boy once a month, trying to steal some beer at Coney Island, you know, talking about your feelings? Go right ahead, because I don't have to care. Because I won't be seeing you around here anymore. See what I'm saying?
Kate: Yeah, well, see, that's where you're wrong, Sonny. I've decided not to go back to Manhattan. I'm going to make Port Charles my primary residence.
Trevor: Whatever you want to know, you can ask me.
Claudia: I will. But I want to talk to my father first, unless you know some reason why I shouldn't?
Trevor: No, Claudia. You can talk to anybody you like to. Come on, John.
Johnny: What the hell is going on?
Trevor: I tell you, your father's failing.
Johnny: I've had it with you, Trevor. Nothing is like you say. You talk out of both sides of your mouth, especially with me. You need to stop treating me like an idiot. I know exactly why you brought my half sister here.
Ian: Nurse Johnson.
Epiphany: Dr. Devlin.
Ian: We never seem to get past that point of pleasantness, do we?
Epiphany: Probably because I can't get past the fact that there's more to you than you let on.
Patrick: Looks like she's got your number, Ian. And what you're referring to is the frustrating inability to pierce the layers of education, training, and proficiency of our new staff member here. See, not many doctors can switch specialties from reconstructive surgery to oncology without batting an eye, but he's got practice. He would switch from single malt whiskey to body shots of tequila -- obviously depending on who he was hitting on at the time.
Epiphany: Hmm. Huh. That's more than I needed to know. Thank you -- whatever it was that you just said.
Ian: Methinks I detect a yearning for the drinking days of old.
Patrick: You know what? I'm just glad to have somebody here from med school that actually knows what they want out of life -- and what they don't want.
Robin: Have you seen Nikolas?
Patrick: No. Why?
Robin: Well, because we were supposed to go over his drug protocol with him and I thought I left him in the exam room.
Nadine: Nikolas left.
Patrick: Where did he go, home?
Nadine: He said he was bored and wanted to go out for a drive. He told me he was going to run it by you.
Robin: In this weather?
Ian: And is driving such a good idea, given his condition?
Robin: Excuse me, but what do you know about Nikolas' condition?
Emily: It stopped raining.
Nikolas: You changed your clothes again.
Emily: Well, I wear what your mind wants to see me in.
Nikolas: What's left of my mind.
Emily: Nikolas, things are changing, aren't they?
Nikolas: I should've never left the hospital.
Emily: Okay, well, listen, we'll go back to the hospital. Where's your car?
Nikolas: I don't know. I don't know.
Emily: It's okay. It's going to be okay. What do you remember this time?
Nikolas: Enough to be afraid to tell anyone about it.
Johnny: Claudia's been your backup plan all along, hasn't she? If I got too out of line or you couldn't control me the way you controlled my father all these years, you thought as eldest child, Claudia would be the perfect figurehead to head up this organization -- like my father did, like I refuse to be.
Trevor: Why are you so paranoid, John?
Johnny: It's not paranoia if someone's actually after you, is it? You run Claudia while she runs the organization -- is that how things are going to work now?
Trevor: Look, for once in your life, will you stop acting with your emotions and think with your head, huh? And please, learn this business before you throw in with Sonny Corinthos and get yourself killed. You got to stop slipping up -- the cops will always get you. Because you got to know I am not going to let you or anyone else run this empire into the ground.
Johnny: Looks like you're the one that's slipped up, Trevor. Claudia's not who you remember, and something tells me you're going to have a much tougher time with her than you ever dreamed of having with me. As far as I can see, she's already got your number, so you know what? I think I'm going to sit back and watch. This could be fun.
Claudia: Really did yourself good this time, eh, Pop?
Anthony: Ah, what do you know?
Claudia: Only what I see.
Anthony: You look good. A little too slutty, but good. Why did you come?
Claudia: Trevor sent for me.
Anthony: Yeah, but why did you come? What do you want?
Kate: Will you sit?
Sonny: You want me to sit?
Sonny: All right. Ahem.
Kate: I will not grovel, Sonny.
Sonny: All right.
Kate: I will not subject myself to your cold shoulder while I'm here.
Sonny: It's your time to waste.
Kate: Oh, no, it's our time to waste -- a time that we could be happy. Sonny, don't you get it? All those years ago, Connie and Sonny would've never made it, but Kate and Sonny could.
Sonny: I thought we weren't going to get into explanations, Kate, and --
Kate: All right, I'm not, okay?
Sonny: You keep stalking me --
Kate: No, I'm not, all right? I'm just offering insight and possibilities. Look, you want Connie more than you want Kate, and I do want the label of Kate Howard more than the title of Mrs. Sonny Corinthos because, apparently, that comes with a target on my back.
Sonny: Okay, okay, you -- you have it -- you got it all figured out, then, okay? We're done, then. It's pretty much done, right?
Kate: What it is, is something to build on. But you know what? Fine, all right? I'm just going to do it by myself, okay? I'll do it all by myself, while you go and you nurse your pride until you figure out that I'm right.
Sonny: Well, you got a hell of a surprise coming.
Kate: Maybe I do, but I think you're worth it. I think that we're worth it. So, go ahead, just try and stay away from me as long as you can. But it won't be forever because I saw in Manhattan how hard you tried to make it work, Sonny. I was paralyzed on that street corner in Bensonhurst, and I will not be paralyzed again.
Sonny: Am I supposed to guess what you're trying to say? Am I supposed to care?
Kate: You already care.
Sonny: I said we're done.
Kate: And I say we're not. So, there are things in both of our pasts that we would like to keep dead, but we have something to build on.
Sonny: All right.
Monica: Oh, my God. Oh, my God.
Lulu: I'm going to go to Kellyís to get some takeout, but brace yourself, because when I get back, I'm going to beg you to let me crash here.
Lucky: You can stay here as long as you want.
Lulu: See -- you do care what happens to people.
Lucky: You're not "people," you're my sister.
Lulu: No, you care what happens to everybody, Lucky, no matter how angry you are. If anything, you are somebody who cares too much, and I think that's what leads you into trouble.
Lulu: You want to be a good father to Jake to make up for what Dad did or didn't do.
Lucky: I wish it were that easy.
Lulu: I also know that you want to protect Jake from Jason's enemies. If everyone thinks you're his father, then he'll be safe, right?
Lucky: The truth is I want to protect Jake from Jason, too. I know that you have a different take on the guy.
Lulu: I -- I just know how kind he can be.
Lucky: And I know the business that he's in. I'd rather she have a child by anybody else. But I still think that this connection is going to get her into some kind of trouble that there's no getting out of.
Elizabeth: Jason? Jason?
Jason: Oh, thank God you're here, I was so -- I was so worried about you.
Jason: You're shaking. What happened?
Elizabeth: Just hold me.
Jason: Are you okay?
Elizabeth: You're right. I shouldn't have tried to come, but I'm so glad I did. I couldn't spend another night in that hospital bed. It was just one awful dream after another.
Jason: It's okay. Here, sit down, you're safe. It's all right.
Elizabeth: I knew I needed to be with you. If I was ever going to fall asleep and feel safe again, it was with you -- that's why I called.
Jason: I'm glad you called.
Elizabeth: But I probably should've stopped to get a coffee or something. I was so focused on getting here, I almost didn't make it.
Jason: What -- what do you mean?
Elizabeth: I -- well, I -- I felt myself nodding off, and -- and there was this moment when --
Jason: When what?
Elizabeth: I think I fell asleep.
Jason: Oh, man, Elizabeth, you -- you should've stopped. You know, you could've pulled over, and you know I would've been there in one minute for you. It's lucky you didn't get into an accident.
Elizabeth: But there was this moment when I was jarred awake, and I think the jolt I felt was -- was a car going off the road or hitting the shoulder or something. But I managed to hang on to the wheel, and I just kept driving. God, it scared me so bad, the adrenaline just pumped through me, and I rolled down the window and let the rain and the wind blow in my face. But it's over and I'm here, and I just -- oh -- I just want to get cleaned up and sit by the fire, is that okay?
Jason: Of course that's fine.
Ian: A few days ago, Patrick asked me what kind of cases interest me the most, and I said the hopeless ones.
Robin: Nikolas' case isn't hopeless.
Ian: Is that a doctor talking or a friend?
Ian: Hmm. You can be both with a patient?
Robin: Huh. Well, you're about to find out that we do things just a little bit differently here on earth, Dr. Devlin.
Ian: You really find me that different?
Robin: Well, I find you to be clear and focused and incredibly proficient on the one hand, and glib and completely transparent with women on the other -- as only a close friend of Dr. Drake's would be.
Ian: Maybe there isn't anything different about me.
Robin: Well, there's something, I just don't know what yet.
Ian: Huh. Well, then to save you some time, maybe I prefer that it's nobody's business. Now, then, I've seen a case like his once before -- a patient with a tumor in basically the same area of the brain. Slight-but-jolting episodes of rage and confusion afterwards, though not the same complete blackouts that Mr. Cassadine suffers from. And this amnesia -- for lack of a better term -- there isn't any chance that this patient's lying about that part, is there?
Robin: No, absolutely not.
Ian: What about hallucinations?
Patrick: He hasn't mentioned any.
Ian: Well, friend or not, for some reason, he's keeping things from you after all.
Nikolas: I know I shouldn't have left the hospital -- I realize that -- but I couldn't help it. See, I looked out the window and I saw it was raining and I saw the way the lights reflecting on the pavement, and I just -- I got this vivid image of us flying down the boulevard in Paris towards the Eiffel Tower, top down, laughing in the rain, you know? Not a care in the world, but that's not real. And things are getting less and less real. I mean, you -- you are real, Emily, but you're not.
Emily: That's because your condition's getting worse, Nikolas.
Nikolas: Yeah, I just don't know what I could've done with the car. I mean, I got so angry when that guy cut us off, and then you weren't in the seat next to me, and then I looked up and you're standing in the street -- at least, I think it was you. And the next thing I remember, I'm standing here, and there you are again, but you changed your clothes.
Emily: Okay, so let's get you back to the hospital.
Nikolas: In a minute. Just -- just let me look at you for a second. Let me -- let me love you for a minute, okay?
Nikolas: I don't know how much time we may have left together.
Johnny: If Claudia catches you listening, there's going to be hell to pay. And she looks like someone who travels with more than just a little hell in her back pocket.
Trevor: We need to call a family meeting.
Johnny: I agree. Of course, you're not family, so Claudia might forget to tell you about it.
Trevor: No, John, be clear about this. You're going to need me now more than ever. How long do you think Claudia's going to stay here? Her curiosity got the better of her, and she's just flaunting herself in our faces.
Johnny: You mean your face, and maybe my father's, not mine. I was, what, 7 when she left, she was 16? I'm going to be interested to hear her take on things -- on a lot of things.
Claudia: I remember the day you sent me away. You remember that day, Pop?
Anthony: You and Maria -- uh -- you -- you two had a fight. It was bad for you in the house.
Claudia: No. It was good for me in the house -- I had a family.
Anthony: What did you want with a family? You were always by yourself, you liked being by yourself.
Claudia: That's because nobody liked me. I didn't like me.
Anthony: I know someone who liked you.
Claudia: You want to know what I want, old man? Then shut up and listen.
Jax: Anything I can do?
Kate: Um -- no, I'm okay, Jax. I'm just mourning a few things.
Kate: No, I think I still have a chance with him.
Jax: Oh. So this would be a bad time to try to talk you out of it?
Kate: Excuse me. How many of your friends tried to talk you out of marrying Carly?
Jax: Oh, a few. Check that -- quite a few, actually. The difference is Carly won't get me killed, Kate.
Kate: Oh, there's all kinds of ways to die, Jax.
Jax: You know, I'm still not sure why you told me everything.
Kate: Because I need your help.
Jax: To do what?
Carly: Jax, I have something -- wow. I'm going to try to ignore the fact that you guys are standing here half naked. Kate, you got about 10 seconds to get the hell out of my house, or I'm going to throw you out.
Patrick: How did you treat your patient?
Ian: With a new drug therapy that manages the side effects till the tumor grew big enough to be removed more safely.
Robin: What kind of drug therapy, exactly?
Ian: Experimental. Now, what disturbs me in the Cassadine case is this -- this wild card -- some kind of drug injected into his system?
Patrick: Yeah, it's a long story.
Ian: Well, if I'm going to help treat this patient, I suggest you make it a short one.
Robin: Who said you were? I -- I don't understand how Nikolas falls under your area of expertise.
Ian: The same way as my other patient with a tumor did -- by needing my help, now.
Nikolas: I apologize, I shouldn't have left. I just had to get out of here for a while.
Patrick: Yeah, I know the feeling. In the meantime, we've been discussing your case with a colleague of ours and he's agreed to join the team. Nikolas Cassadine, this is Dr. Ian Devlin.
Jax: Carly, it's not what you think. I asked Kate back here -- we were both caught in a rainstorm, we were soaked, okay?
Carly: Oh, I bet you couldn't wait to take him up on that offer, huh?
Jax: Why -- what are you doing?
Carly: Now that you and Sonny are over, you're looking for your next victim? It's not going to be my husband, you got it?
Kate: Jax? Jax? Thank you for your kindness and your understanding. I think you understand some of what I've asked now?
Carly: Oh, secrets? We, I guess we're playing the secret game now, is that it?
Kate: My clothes -- Jax, my clothes?
Jax: Second door on the right. And I'll call you a cab, okay? There's no secrets.
Kate: Um, Jax, you don't have to do that.
Jax: No, that's fine, I want to. I'll -- I'll call the cab.
Carly: Keep the robe -- I was going to burn it anyway. What the hell is she doing here?
Jax: What is wrong with you? Why are you so angry?
Carly: Because I don't like that woman!
Jax: You don't like any women.
Carly: I especially don't like that woman tonight, okay?
Jax: What were you doing? Were -- were you out driving?
Carly: I wanted to talk to you; I wanted to share something with you.
Jax: Mercedes said that you left, but she didn't say that you drove yourself. Where did you go?
Carly: It doesn't matter because you've ruined everything, Jax!
Jax: Whoa, hold on a sec -- Carly? Okay -- whoa, whoa, Carly -- can we just talk about it?
[Carly walks upstairs]
Jason: There you go.
Elizabeth: Thank you.
Jason: You feeling better?
Elizabeth: Much. That shower was great -- I washed the hospital off.
Jason: Careful with your stitches?
Elizabeth: Yes, I was careful.
Jason: When you called, you said something about going to Lucky's and finding Sam holding Jake. I --
Elizabeth: The day before yesterday, I checked myself out of the hospital. Lucky had the boys, so I went to his house to get them and take them home or to Gram's. And when I walked in, there was Sam -- holding Jake like it was the most natural thing in the world. Then I found out that Lucky was on a police call and he had left her alone with Jake. Of course, I -- I freaked out. By the time Lucky got back, Sam and I were in the middle of a full-blown fight, and popped a stitch and Lucky had to take me to the hospital.
Jason: Why didn't you call me?
Elizabeth: Because I canít. Because we're not supposed to be seeing each other. And it's not going to seem like that if you come running every time I get a splinter -- even though I know you would.
Jason: You know I want to.
Elizabeth: I can't remember the last time I really slept. But I feel better. I feel a lot better -- almost as if -- as if the ride over here never happened.
Anthony: A daughter doesn't speak to her father like that. A daughter owes her father respect. Maria will make you respect me.
Claudia: My stepmother's dead. And when I heard you're the one who shot her --
Anthony: And you believe everything you hear?
Claudia: I believed it because it sounded just like you. You never were a nice man, Daddy -- not to Johnny, not to Johnny's mother, not to me, not to my mother. She's dead, too, you know?
Anthony: I didn't do nothing to her. She's not dead because of me.
Claudia: She died on the inside because of you, and you sent what was left of her away -- just like you did with me.
Anthony: You don't know what you're talking about. Nobody knows, just Maria. Maria always knows. She sends me roses, you know, from the garden. It's funny -- they shouldn't be alive this time of year. The doctors -- they don't know what they're talking about, either. They say I'll never move again? They don't know -- I can move.
Claudia: Really? Show me.
Anthony: No. You want to see, you have to come back and see. Bring Johnny and Maria and that little what's-her-name with the red sneakers.
Claudia: That was me, Daddy. That was me.
Anthony: What are you talking about -- that's not you. Don't bring the pusher.
Claudia: "The pusher"?
Anthony: Pushing, always pushing!
Claudia: I'll be back. Don't worry; we have a lot of catching up to do in more ways than one. But to answer your question -- the one from 10 confused, raving minutes ago -- what I want, Daddy, is everything.
Anthony: Yeah? Good luck with that one!
Claudia: I don't need luck. I learned a lot of things while I was gone.
Anthony: What things?
Claudia: I love you, Daddy, I do. But just so you know, if you try to stop me, I will kill you.
Sonny: Big mistake -- walking around this town without any bodyguards.
Johnny: I'm unarmed.
Sonny: Well, that's your second mistake. Why shouldn't it be your last?
Claudia: Where's John?
Trevor: You know, he left.
Claudia: Oh, you mean you made him leave?
Trevor: What's happened to you?
Claudia: I wised up.
Trevor: Huh. You seem too hard.
Claudia: You seem disappointed.
Trevor: Your brother needs you.
Claudia: Being kept behind walls with you and my father, I can only imagine. The good thing for John is there's still hope for him -- unlike the rest of us.
Trevor: I need you to pull this together. Can you do it? Wherever you disappeared to in that hotel --
Claudia: Where I go and what I do is my business. The faster you learn that, the faster we'll get along -- if we ever get along at all.
Sonny: You've been getting an awful lot of breaks lately, and mainly because Jason has been giving you the benefit of the doubt -- I'm tired of that. And I got too many loose ends in my life, and I'm getting very angry because I'm not paying attention to business.
Johnny: If you're in the business of shooting unarmed men, tonight's your lucky night.
[Sonny cocks gun]
Sonny: You're as crazy as your old man.
Carly: What are the chances of me finding my husband alone down here?
Jax: Oh, what are the chances of you actually telling me what's wrong with you? Come on, you know how Kate's -- what happened to your head? Did you hurt yourself?
Carly: That's what I've been trying to tell you -- something happened while I was driving home.
Monica: Yes, I -- um -- I'd like to report a robbery. Um, my car has been stolen.
Emily: Nikolas? You're upset about something.
Nikolas: Um -- yeah, the -- the car ride earlier? What if --
Emily: "What if" what?
Nikolas: What if I -- what if I only thought that I imagined you in the road? What -- what if there was someone else really there?
>> On the next "General Hospital" --
Jax: Tell me what happened.
Jason: Was it about Sam?
Johnny: Do it.
Sonny: You're dead!
