Edward: You're not doing yourself any favors here, Monica. You know, the pain is still going to be here after the effects of this are gone.
Monica: Yeah, well, I will grab relief anywhere I can get it.
Luke: Hello, family-in-law! I'm home!
Monica: Not anymore, you're not.
Elizabeth: Lucky, I thought you left.
Lucky: I did.
Elizabeth: Have you seen Sam?
Lucky: No. I was just sitting here wondering how many mistakes one man can make.
Nikolas: You believe it was him?
Jason: What do you mean?
Nikolas: Do you believe that Cooper Barrett is the one who strangled Emily?
Jason: Don't you?
Carly: See? I told you.
Jax: Fine, get it off your chest.
Carly: I'm going to because I knew it all along. I knew that Coop killed Leticia. I knew he was the one texting me that night at the ball and I should've killed the bastard when I had the chance.
Bartender: Need another one?
Woman: Maybe one more. The night could get interesting after all.
Sonny: Thank you.
Lucky: You know, I left here with all that stuff that you told me about Sam. And I couldn't get it out of my mind -- the things she did, the lies, the games, the stunts she pulled -- the things that everybody kept from me again.
Lucky: I just walked around. I went home. I -- I looked in the window and Sam -- she was sitting there at the table, candles lit.
Elizabeth: Okay, I don't need to hear this; I don't want to hear this.
Lucky: Yes, you do. Because you and me, that's where all of this started -- or rather, with me. You know, if I would've trusted you to be around Patrick, if I would've tried to listen to you when you were telling me the truth instead of later when you started telling me lies, we'd be in a whole different place. You know, I don't know if it would've made a difference or not about my drugs, but I don't think I ever would've cheated on you with Maxie. That's something that I have to live with every day, and I'm -- I'm sorry.
Elizabeth: You don't have to apologize again.
Lucky: No, I just have to make sense of this mess. I got to make sense of this whole mess my world is in. You know, we could still -- we could still be married. We could still be in love the way we used to be. I could have a son or a daughter that could really be mine.
Elizabeth: Lucky, I lied to you, I kept lying to you. No matter how justified that was in my own head, people who love each other don't do that.
Lucky: We are lying to a whole lot of people that we love every day -- about Jake.
Elizabeth: To protect him.
Lucky: You know, you tried to protect me by letting me believe that he was mine. You tried to protect me by holding back the truth about Sam and what she's capable of doing. At least you had an excuse. What excuse does Sam have?
Elizabeth: When you came home and you found us arguing, I was so annoyed that Sam had been left alone with Jake. Lucky, she said she loved you.
Lucky: It makes the whole situation worse.
Nikolas: Well, it says here in the paper that there's D.N.A. evidence linking the police cadet who hung himself to Georgie's murder.
Jason: Alexis made a statement from the D.A.ís office -- case is closed. They believe Cooper killed Leticia and Georgie and that he attacked Carly and Maxie.
Nikolas: But what about Emily?
Jason: What -- what are you asking me?
Max: I'm sorry to interrupt. I need to have a word with you.
Nikolas: I'll -- I'll go.
Jason: No, no, no, no. No, please stay. I'll -- I'll be right back.
Emily: You want to know if Jason still thinks you're the one that killed me, don't you?
Jason: So where is he?
Max: Milo called in. Sonny had Milo drop him off at a lounge called the Red Room.
Jason: Okay, keep a couple guys out front; make sure nobody follows Sonny inside. I do not want anyone to take advantage of the situation.
Bartender: The lady would like to buy you a drink.
Jax: You know, whether Coop was guilty or not, I just -- I don't like the fact that you were actually ready to shoot him.
Carly: If I would've, Emily would still be alive, so would Georgie Jones, and I almost died that night.
Jax: Yes, and if there would've been no evidence pointing towards Coop being the killer, then you would've gone to jail. Hmm? How do you think your children would feel about that? Michael already lives on the fringe of enough violence in his life with his father and with Jason, and it's affecting him -- you know that. I mean, he wants to be like his father. He's too young to wrap his head around it and still be okay. When he fights in school, that's his way of acting out, and that's just the stuff we know about. He needs more stability.
Carly: Okay. You know what? I don't plan on shooting anyone anytime soon.
Jax: Oh, well, I'm really glad to hear that, that's very mature of you.
Carly: I think Michael will behave differently when he finds out he may be having a little brother or a little sister.
Jax: Well. Has our ugly little friend --
Jax: Been whispering sweet things in your ear?
Carly: No -- only you're allowed to do that. I love you. I really want this for us, you know.
Jax: Hey, if all we ever have is what we have right now, I'll be happy for the rest of my life. I got to go.
Carly: Do you have to go?
Jax: Yeah, I just want to check on the spa renovations. I got to meet with the contractor and all that stuff. At least I can leave you home, you know, safe. I don't have to worry about you, somebody coming after you, okay?
Jax: A lot of women are going to sleep well tonight.
Carly: Oh. Here, it's cold out there.
Jax: Thank you -- oh, sweet. Thanks. Bye.
Carly: Oh Ė
Kate: Can I help you?
Daniel: Sorry to stare. You're Kate Howard, right?
Kate: Yes, I am.
Daniel: I wonder if I could buy you a cup of coffee sometime.
Kate: I -- don't know.
Daniel: It would be business.
Daniel: I'm a photographer -- I mean, I take pictures -- of women. I've got lots of them I could show you. I'm sorry, this isn't coming out right.
Daniel: I didn't mean to bother you.
Jax: Kate, hey.
Jax: You okay?
Kate: That's a hard question, Jax.
Jax: Well, that kid from the coffee shop, right -- Daniel?
Kate: Yeah. Apparently, a budding photographer or a fan or a stalker -- I'm not quite sure which and I don't know much these days. So, what -- Jax, what are you doing all the way out here?
Jax: I've got a meeting with my contractor to go over a few changes and -- you know? What are you doing here? I thought -- I thought you went back to Manhattan.
Kate: Yeah, I did.
Kate: I miss brownstones. You know, I miss the smell of bread baking in some kitchen and wafting off through the windows. Can you smell it -- someone is baking bread right now.
Jax: Yes, I can, absolutely. It's just not something I thought Kate Howard would notice.
Kate: Well, that's because you don't know me, Jax. You don't know me at all. There's only one person who knows me and I think I lost him.
Bartender: This is also from the lady.
Luke: You tossed my pretty pink Popsicle to the wolves?
Edward: Pity the poor wolves.
Monica: And you can follow right behind her.
Alice: Mr. Luke, you're back!
Edward: Hey, hey, hey, don't make him feel welcome because he's not.
Luke: Hi. Look, I know that you and Tracy have had your problems.
Monica: She's suing me for malpractice -- for your quadruple bypass.
Edward: Which you wouldn't need if you hadn't led the life of a reprobate -- I'll take that, I bought these.
Monica: Or if you had listened to Dr. Julian or myself. Yes, I went into the O.R. shaken by Emily's death, and -- and yes, you almost died on that table. But you would've died in your bed if I hadn't started operating.
Luke: Look, I'll talk to Tracy and we'll get all of this straightened out --
Monica: No, not good enough, Luke, because I don't care if you and your larcenous wife live in a box in an alley somewhere.
Luke: Oh, hi, baby.
Lulu: You're home. I'm so glad that you're okay.
Luke: I'm fine. You planning to throw my daughter out in the snow, too?
Lulu: What's going on?
Monica: If you spent the night here once in a while, you might know.
Luke: Apparently, there's some trouble with your stepmother.
Edward: Oh, not just Tracy, you.
Monica: You helped her forge Alanís will.
Luke: Really? Well, if I did -- uh -- well, we can just reshuffle all the cash and give everybody --
Monica: Oh, come on, it's not about the cash, Luke. It is about my husband's last thoughts, his last wishes. Now, he's gone, Emily is gone, and I really want you and Tracy gone.
Edward: But you -- you can stay, my dear, because we certainly don't want you winding up in whatever disreputable hellhole your father might choose to call home. But you, Sir -- you are out of here.
Lulu: My dad goes, I go, too.
Nikolas: You keep telling me that I wouldn't hurt you.
Emily: You wouldnít.
Nikolas: Well, if that's true, then someone walked in the ballroom when I was struggling with you. Now, I know I was in a rage and I don't remember, but I don't think I would just allow someone to walk in and hurt you.
Emily: Right, so they hit you, Nikolas -- that's how your blood got all over my dress.
Nikolas: Well, if -- if it was Coop, then I should be able to plug that into the equation and -- but I don't remember anything.
Emily: All right, so maybe you're not thinking about this in the right way.
Nikolas: What -- what do you mean?
Emily: Maybe you need to re-create the moment with me.
Nikolas: What do you mean, "re-create the moment"?
Emily: I mean get angry, Nikolas. Get angry with me and try to make me leave this room and then something might come back to you.
Nikolas: No, I canít.
Emily: Nikolas, you didn't hurt me before, okay, and you're not going to hurt me now. You couldn't hurt me now even if you wanted to. Please, Nikolas, just do this and let's see what you see.
Jason: Okay, listen, I -- I want the men to keep their eyes and their ears open. There's been no movement whatsoever on the part of the Zaccharas since their ship exploded.
Max: Right -- there's a hotel there.
Max: The Red Room, where Mr. C is? It's a -- it's a bar and a hotel. It's a place where out-of-town businessmen go to --
Jason: I know -- I know what they go there for, Max.
Max: Look -- look, I like Kate, you know, not just because she wasn't Mrs. C and I, you know, didn't have to deal with my feelings of how I felt around her. I just thought that she --
Jason: Just thought that she what?
Max: I don't know. I just -- I thought Kate had more going on for her than anybody knew.
Jax: I'm sure you being upset has something to do with Sonny? I'm probably not the best person to talk to about him since I don't have any kind things to say about him, you know?
Kate: Well, Sonny can have an unkind way about him when he's hurt.
Jax: Well, I don't think anyone can hurt him.
Kate: I do. I hurt him very badly.
Jax: Well, I'm sure he'll get over it, you know.
Kate: Oh, I'm not sure he will.
Jax: You know, this isn't the Kate Howard I know. Very few women have accomplished what you have. Your magazine is available in, what, four languages on five different continents? I mean, you're beautiful, you're -- you're smart. You could have a conversation with anyone from a European countess to a guy working, you know, behind the counter of a coffee shop.
Kate: Oh --
Jax: What? Are you -- you okay?
Kate: Jax, you just described everything I wanted when I was growing up.
Jax: And that's what you are, Kate.
Kate: Well, I'm something else, too. I'm a complete fraud.
Sam: Hey. I was getting worried. Where have you been?
Lucky: I had a lot of thinking to do.
Sam: I called you.
Lucky: I know. Looks like I spoiled your surprise.
Sam: No, it's -- it's okay. We'll -- we will have other nights.
Lucky: What's the occasion?
Sam: I think I've been withholding things from you. I just -- I think I've been afraid.
Lucky: Of what?
Sam: Ooh -- of what? Of -- feeling. But you're right. I -- I've got to trust you.
Lucky: Can I trust you?
Sam: You know how this all started. Lucky, come on, part of the attraction to you was a way at getting back at Jason and Elizabeth. You said you knew and -- and you didn't care, but I need you to know that things have changed for me. What I feel for you has absolutely nothing to do with anything but what's going on between us, and I -- I never expected to feel like this for you. But I do, and I have to tell you that I couldn't be happier. And I want you to be happy, too. I want -- I want us to be happy together.
Jax: Kate, you're one of the most genuine people I've ever known.
Kate: Yeah, well, good -- that means I fooled you, too. I mean, fashion -- it's a world of flash and fantasy, right? It's all a little bit larger than life but doesn't warrant a closer -- or tolerate a closer examination. But, really, underneath all the hype and the attitude, it's just a whole lot of fabrication, isn't it?
Jax: Kate, there is a certain amount of necessary insincerity in business -- that just goes without saying.
Kate: Well, yes, yes, but when people are dealing with Jasper Jacks, they know exactly what they're getting. The same can't be said about Kate Howard.
Jax: You're losing me.
Kate: Oh, Jax, I'm sorry. I don't mean to, I -- I don't want to. I consider you a friend and I don't have many -- I mean, real friends --
Jax: Oh, that's not true.
Kate: Not one, no.
Jax: No, that's not true -- it can't be true.
Kate: No, it is true. I mean, a real friend is someone who knows you better than you know yourself, right? Someone you share things with, someone you share the good, the bad, and the ugly, the ugly truth.
Kate: I'm just so tired of pretending, Jax.
Jax: Pretending what?
Woman: I'm perfectly fine. I've been walking and talking on my own now for quite sometime. My flight got in early. I'm at the Executor Hotel. I'll meet the car out front with my bags.
Bartender: The gentleman already took care of you.
Woman: Did he?
Alice: You know, I got a friend, Margie the Mangler -- she lives by the Wrestledome. You can bunk with her for a while.
Luke: Oh, thanks, Alice. I'll keep Ms. Mangler in mind.
Luke: So where are you spending your nights?
Lulu: Oh, thank you -- I'm starving.
Luke: Should I be worried about you?
Lulu: No more than you usually do. How did you do it?
Luke: Oh, well, you know me and money. Tracy took one look at that will --
Lulu: I mean sneaking out of the hospital.
Luke: Oh, that. Well, I -- I needed space.
Lulu: From the people that love you?
Luke: From the gray creamed corn and the scalpels -- and yeah, the hovering hordes, as well.
Lulu: Is that really how you see us? Or are you just so afraid of needing us because you might actually have to return the favor someday?
Luke: You're moving this off subject.
Lulu: I can stay with Nikolas or with Logan, or you and I can both stay with Lucky.
Luke: I think we would cramp his style.
Tracy: "His style," or yours?
Emily: You have to do this, Nikolas.
Nikolas: No, I can't, I canít.
Emily: Listen to me, what did the doctors tell you about the tumor?
Nikolas: That it's -- it's pushing on the part of my brain that's causing hallucinations.
Emily: Okay. Do you believe that's all I am?
Nikolas: I don't want to.
Emily: Do you believe that I'm a product of our love?
Emily: Okay, and that I'm a part of you?
Emily: Then maybe I'm the part that's trying to show you the truth, Nikolas. Maybe I'm the part that you can't remember on your own, the part that knows you're not --
Nikolas: What if -- what if you're the lie of my mind, the part that's trying to protect me?
Emily: All right, well, then you're not going to know unless you try. Nikolas, I came into the ballroom that night, all right, and then you said, "You have to leave me right now, I can't protect you anymore. You can't stay here." Okay? Say it.
Nikolas: Okay. You have to leave. I can't protect you --
Emily: No, Nikolas, come on! Get angry with me!
Nikolas: You have to leave. I can't protect you anymore. You can't stay here.
Emily: I never should've left you.
Nikolas: Don't you understand, huh? You understand what you've done? I'm the one you need to be afraid of -- me!
Emily: You could never hurt me.
Nikolas: No, listen, you have to leave. You have to leave! You can't stay here anymore! I can't protect you!
Emily: I'm not going to leave you.
Nikolas: Please get out of here!
Emily: Okay, what is it? Who do you see?
Jason: What the hell is going on?
Jason: Who were you yelling at?
Nikolas: Uh -- I was just trying to put myself back at the moment before -- before I blacked out and lost Emily. I was trying to figure out what happened -- how my blood got on her mask and gown.
Jason: Well, maybe she hit you with something.
Nikolas: She wouldn't do that.
Jason: How do you know that?
Nikolas: Because I know. I know that she wouldn't do that to me any more than -- any more than I would hurt her. I couldn't have killed her, Jason, there has to be someone else.
Jason: Cooper. Was he there?
Nikolas: I don't -- I don't know. I can't -- I can't see him there.
Nikolas: Tell me, are you sure? Are you 100% sure that Coop is Emily's killer?
Nikolas: Do you think it was me?
Jason: No, I donít.
Nikolas: See? Then we have a problem. Then we all have a problem.
Luke: Spanky, you look incredible.
Luke: No, I mean it. You -- you just look so great. I heard they kicked you out on your sweet little keister.
Edward: We did.
Tracy: Yes, and in your haste to put all my possessions in a cardboard box, you forgot the jewelry Mother gave me.
Edward: Don't you touch one more thing that belongs to Lila because if you do, I know you'll just pawn it!
Tracy: Actually, I was going to pawn my wedding ring but I could only get a night at the Y out of it.
Monica: What is this litigious cow doing back in my house?
Tracy: You're withholding my property.
Monica: I am going to drag you out of here myself.
Alice: Oh, no, I'll do it -- it's my job to take out the trash.
Edward: I want you both out of here at once.
Tracy: Not without my pearls.
Luke: Edward, Lila would feel so badly about this animosity.
Monica: This is my house!
Lulu: Stop! Come on, you guys always have to fight?
Edward: It's a family tradition.
Monica: All right, I will give you five minutes, then I'm calling the police and have them drag you out!
Edward: And when they do, if you find any silver or jewelry dropping out of your pockets, you will be arrested for theft.
Lulu: Well, you probably want to hash this out with my dad so I'm going to go pack a couple of things and go. I'm very glad that you're back. I hope you find a reason this time to stay, but don't worry -- I won't count on it.
Tracy: Where are you going?
Luke: She said she won't stay if I'm not staying. Look, I -- I talked to Monica and I told her that I'd get you to drop the -- the malpractice suit and -- and also that we'd take another look at Alanís will. And we'll divvy up all that money and put it back where it belongs and everything can go back to normal. What do you say?
Tracy: How do you feel?
Luke: Not bad.
Luke: Yeah, really.
Kate: Oh, do you know how long it's been since I just sat on a stoop like this? I was just a girl, a restless dreamer who couldn't wait to get the hell away from the smell of bread or whatever else was on her neighborhood street.
Jax: I thought you were born abroad.
Kate: Oh, yeah. Well, that's good and vague, isn't it? "Abroad" -- it covers a whole multitude of possible bad breeding. No, one would look at Kate Howard and assume that "abroad" meant London or Rome, swaddled in silks. But what it really means is "a broad." Two words -- "a broad." Yeah, no silver spoons, no designer silks. No, the most exotic thing in my household was my dad -- swearing to the garbage man in Italian.
Jax: Have you been drinking?
Kate: No, I am painfully sober, Jax. I'm painfully aware of the enormous truth that I've been hiding from myself and from the world.
Jax: What truth?
Kate: Okay first, you have to promise that you won't tell a living soul what I'm about to tell you.
Singer: You said you love me you said you love me but then you left me but then you left me
Sonny's voice: Kate Howard/Connie Falconeri, will you please do me the honor of being my wife? I'm not going to beg you. So if you can't say yes, don't bother saying no.
Kate: Oh --
Singer: You left me but then you left me your love is like the sun it tears into my soul and now that you are gone
Carly: Michael, can you come down here for a minute, please?
Michael: Okay, what did I do now?
Carly: Oh, nothing, sweetie. You didn't do anything. I just wanted to talk to you for a minute. I know how upset you were after what happened to Leticia and Emily.
Michael: And you. But don't worry, I'm going to protect you.
Carly: Oh -- that is so brave and sweet of you, but you don't have to protect me. The man who did those horrible things -- honey, he's -- uh -- he's dead.
Michael: Did Dad and Jason get to him?
Carly: No. No, he was a very sick, guilty man and he took his own life.
Michael: But there are other bad guys out there, right?
Carly: Well, yeah. But we don't have to worry about this one.
Michael: Can I go back upstairs now?
Carly: Sure, go ahead.
Lucky: I want to believe you. But I know I canít.
Sam: Whoa, whoa, I don't understand.
Lucky: I didn't, either. I know there were a lot of hard feelings between you and Jason and Elizabeth and I had no idea why.
Sam: I already -- I don't care about that anymore. I already -- I told you. I even went to Elizabeth today to try and make peace.
Lucky: I know.
Sam: "You know"? What -- what do you mean? She told you?
Lucky: She told me a lot of things -- some very ugly things.
Sam: But you -- I mean, you can't believe anything that she says. She doesn't want us to be together, she doesn't want us to be happy.
Lucky: She doesn't want our children in danger. That's why she freaked out when she came home and found you alone with Jake. I mean, what if -- what if it did get out that Jason was Jake's father and somebody grabbed him and ran off with him and then you stood by and let it happen -- like that day you did in the park?
Luke: Well, that wasn't exactly the welcome I had in mind.
Tracy: Well, this isn't exactly the marriage I had in mind -- in fact, I never had a marriage with you in mind at all. And then I woke up one hideous morning in a cheap hotel room in Las Vegas with a whopper of a hangover and a whopper of a ring on my finger. And since then, it has been nothing but one underhanded game after another and watching you run off and play slap-and-tickle with any woman stupid enough to fall for your line of crap!
Luke: Tracy, what married couple don't go through rough patches?
Tracy: Luke, either you divorce me or you run off again, and this time, stay gone for seven years so I can declare you dead because as far as I'm concerned, that's exactly what you are.
Sonny: Been waiting all night, thought you weren't showing up. A man like me does not like to be kept waiting.
Woman: And I don't like to be taken care of in a bar.
Sonny: What do you like?
Woman: If you have to ask, then I came to the wrong room.
Sonny: Where you going?
Singer: You said that you always would love me you said that you
Jax: What's this mystery about?
Kate: Me, and if you care about me and you care about Kate Howard, you will do as I ask.
Jax: Fine. I promise I won't tell anyone.
Kate: No, including -- and especially -- Carly. Can you do that?
Jason: Hey. Is Jax around?
Carly: Uh -- no. No, he's out for a while. Why? Is it Jake? Is he okay?
Jason: You know, you can't keep saying that every time I see you.
Carly: I'm sorry, okay? I'm -- I'm sorry. What's wrong, then? Why are you here?
Jason: Okay, I -- I really have nothing to back this up but instinct.
Carly: Instinct? Okay, well, I trust your instinct.
Jason: I'm not sure that Cooper was really the text message killer.
Nikolas: She's -- she's sleeping. I don't even know why I'm here, other than she was your best friend.
Emily: Nikolas, she was our best friend. You need to go see her. You need to see her, your brother, your son. It's time for you to start reconnecting with your life again.
Nikolas: But you're my life.
Emily: I was. I don't know. I -- I think I need to be at rest.
Nikolas: Well, I won't rest until I find out who did this to you.
Nikolas: Let's go.
Sam: I can explain.
Lucky: No, you canít. I'm sure you can lie, and I'm -- I'm sure you could come up with some real convincing story. I'm sure you could even hire some people to put on some good, convincing act for me -- kind of like the two thugs that you hired to terrorize Elizabeth and those two innocent little boys just so you could be on "Everyday Heroes."
Sam: Hey, will you please just let me say something, please?
Lucky: There's nothing that you could do to make a difference. The only thing you can do now is get the hell out of my life.
>> On the next "General Hospital" --
Lucky: Never come near Jake again.
Carly: Who do you think the real killer is?
Sam: I just got a text message from the killer.
Lucky: I'm not falling for it.
Lucky: I got to go.
