[Knock on door]

Carly: Go away.

Sonny: It's me, Carly.

Carly: I know it's you, Sonny, and I want you to go away.

Sonny: You don't want to upset the kids, Carly.

Carly: Well, the boys are sleeping, so if you go away, they won't be upset.

Sonny: If you open the door, we can discuss this like adults.

Carly: I'm not opening the door. Go away.

Sonny: Okay, I'm not going away, so you're going to have to face it. There's nothing to be afraid of.

Carly: Do you know what? I am not afraid. I'm not afraid of you, I'm not afraid of anyone. And the answer's still no.

Sam: Hey.

Jason: Hey.

Sam: Did everything go okay?

Jason: Yeah, so far, so good. You know, I want you to call me when you get to work and just let me know if there's a change in Alcazar's condition. Okay?

Sam: I would -- if I were going to the hospital.

Jason: Well, you're dressed for work.

Sam: Yes, I am. Um -- okay, Jason, look, when I had that blowup at Elizabeth, I kind of lost my temper and quit my job.

Epiphany: Lorenzo Alcazar went into cardiac arrest last night. We resuscitated him, but he's still unconscious. Now, if it's not a problem for you, I need someone to monitor his vitals.

Elizabeth: Why would it be a problem?

Epiphany: Everyone knows how some of your nearest and dearest feel about Mr. Alcazar.

Elizabeth: I'm a nurse, Epiphany. I have a responsibility to my patients.

Patrick: Alcazar should've regained consciousness by now.

Robin: You opened up his brain in a highly invasive procedure. The recovery time varies with each patient. Why do I have to remind you of this when you practically wrote the book?

Patrick: Because you think I botched the surgery.

Skye: Lorenzo, Lila Rae needs you. I need you. You have to show me your ranch in Venezuela. You have to teach Lila how to ride. So I guess I'll be the one taking care of you now. I have no idea who your enemies are, but I swear I will not leave you defenseless. Do you hear me?

Elizabeth: Anything yet?

Skye: No. Elizabeth, don't let him die.

Elizabeth: We'll do everything we can.

Skye: What's wrong?

Elizabeth: I'm not sure. I'm going to go get a doctor.

Lulu: I've gone through all the suspects, and I am convinced that Monica stole the datebook out of my backpack. She was Rick’s lover.

Dillon: No, but that's too easy. The perpetrator's never the first person you think of -- except for, you know, when it is.

Lulu: Oh, great. That's not helping. Dillon, we need to find that datebook so we know who really killed Rick Webber, because now I'm more sure than ever that it wasn't my mom.

Dillon: My family are all lying, duplicitous backstabbers, okay, and certifiably insane, so any one of them could've taken that book for God knows what reason.

Lulu: Okay. Well, what choice do I have, Dillon? That datebook is the closest thing we have to evidence that proves that my mom isn't a murderer.

Dillon: I'm just trying to tell you that you have to beat the Quartermaines at their own game, and it takes one to know one, okay? So you need to trust me. You -- you go look through all the bedrooms. I'm going to occupy them.

Maxie: You're going to need a whole pot of that stuff after your late night last night. I told Mac you were studying with a friend, but where were you until 2:30 in the morning?

Georgie: Studying with a friend.

Maxie: Hello -- lying.

Georgie: Well, not really -- I was helping Marquez with his book research.

Maxie: Oh. Congratulations -- you found a great way to prove to Dillon you don't care about him and how he's stuck to Lulu like glue. Besides, Professor Marquez is a great distraction -- his eyes are to die for.

Georgie: Really? I haven't noticed. He's my professor and we're friends, that's it.

Sam: I didn't only confront Elizabeth about her endless excuses to visit you, I also had a little run-in with Ms. Sneed.

Jason: Your favorite person.

Sam: Yes, my favorite person, and she was about to bust me and Elizabeth for going at it, and then Epiphany ran interference. And then once Ms. Sneed left, Epiphany chewed me out because I was ungrateful to Elizabeth. So I simplified everything for everyone and I just quit my job.

Jason: Are you sure about this?

Sam: Oh, Jason, I've thought about it, and what else am I going to do? I mean, yeah, I like the job, I hated Ms. Sneed. Then there's Elizabeth, and we clearly don't get along. So what am I going to do? I'm going to find another job.

Jason: All right. It's your decision, you know?

Sam: Okay, let's hear you say that if I decide to work for your family.

Sonny: I didn't invite Alcazar into my office to kill me.

Carly: I didn't intend on being the only witness, but that's life, right?

Sonny: But you barged in there without knocking. I told you how many times not to do that, yet you --

Carly: If I hadn't walked in, you'd be dead right now. I don't want to be punished for saving your life, Sonny.

Sonny: Well, I'm not going to have much of a life if I go to prison. And that's what's going to happen --

[Carly sighs]

Sonny: If you take the stand. That's why you can't testify against me, and the only way to avoid that is to marry me.

Carly: I can't marry you, I'm marrying Jax.

Sonny: So you're going to put me in prison? That's how you're going to get me out of the way?

Elizabeth: I think the IV's been tampered with.

Skye: Could that be why he went into cardiac arrest last night? You said that could be an aftereffect of the surgery.

Patrick: Yeah, well, that's what I thought -- even though cardiac arrest is uncommon for this type of procedure.

Robin: But there is precipitation in the I.V. line by the port.

Elizabeth: But none of the medication we've been giving him would do that, unless somebody has injected another substance.

Patrick: Did you see anybody in this room?

Skye: I went home to be with our baby. He was alone most of the night.

Patrick: Well, I think we should contact the police.

Skye: Contact them? Why?

Patrick: Someone is still trying to kill Mr. Alcazar.

Sonny: Under the law, husband and wife are considered one person.

Carly: Well, that's a bunch of sexist crap and you know it, Sonny.

Sonny: Maybe so, but spousal privilege is protected by the constitutional guarantee against self-incrimination.

Carly: Wow. Are you sleeping with your attorney again?

Sonny: No, no, that's just a quote. Don't change the subject.

Carly: You have been trying to mess up my marriage to Jax for a long time and this is just the excuse you needed.

Sonny: I'm about to be indicted for attempted murder or worse if Alcazar dies.

Carly: So you don't care if you destroy my chance at happiness? You don't care that I'm in love with Jax and that I've committed myself to him at all, do you?

Sonny: Well, your commitment to Jax isn't nearly as important to me as avoiding prison.

Carly: There has to be another way.

Sonny: You can move permanently to another country with no extradition treaty, or you can marry me. What do you prefer?

Sam: Okay, okay, just hear me out, okay? There's a position at E.L.Q. that might work for me, and if they give me a shot, I think I could do really, really good. It's just -- it's -- it's up to you, I mean --

Jason: I mean, you can work for whoever you want to work for --

Sam: Yeah.

Jason: Even the Quartermaines, though I'm not sure why you'd want to.

Sam: I know, I know, but I just -- I know it's hard for you to deal with them.

Jason: Well, it's better -- you know, it's better than it used to be. The Quartermaines -- we give each other space now, it's sort of like a truce.

Sam: And if I throw myself in there, it might upset the delicate balance?

Jason: Now, I would just -- really, I would hate to see you think you're going for a regular job, and then you get pulled into their craziness.

Sam: Okay. Well, I'll consider myself warned. I think after everything I've been through, the Quartermaines don't scare me.

Edward: What is this, Dillon -- summoning me like I am some servant? Listen, your arrogance is exceeded only by your ignorance, young man.

Dillon: Grandfather, all will be explained in a few minutes.

Edward: Oh, yeah. Sure.

Monica: Can anyone tell me what this is about?

Alan: Tracy, he's your son. Why on earth is he calling a family meeting?

Monica: And more to the point -- why is Alice invited?

Alice: Well, someone has to keep order.

Tracy: He wouldn't waste my time. It must be important.

Edward: I didn't call a meeting.

Dillon: We have -- uh -- coffee. Is anybody thirsty? Coffee, anybody?

Edward: No, I don't want coffee. I want to go to my club and have a nice quiet game of snooker.

Alan: And I'm due at the hospital in half an hour.

Tracy: Get to the point.

Dillon: We are facing a serious problem, and ignoring it is not going to make it go away.

Monica: Oh, my God, what's happened now?

Edward: Be specific, Dillon. This house is filled with problems -- for instance, Tracy’s very unfortunate marriage to that bigamous, philandering Luke Spencer. Of course, a moment of gratitude is in order because he hasn't graced us with his unpleasantness for quite sometime!

Tracy: Is a little compassion too much to ask?

Monica: Probably.

Alan: When did you ever show compassion for anyone?

Monica: Yes -- like your stepdaughter, for instance. It would really be an act of kindness if you sent her away from here, considering what happened with her and Dillon this summer.

Dillon: Um -- that's not fair.

Alice: It's not like she ever did anything wrong.

Alan: Excuse me. Alice, when we need an extra opinion, we'll ask for it.

Georgie: So, Shirley Temple was supposed to be a loan to M.G.M. to star in "The Wizard of Oz," but fox backed out at the last minute. So M.G.M. had to use one of their unknown contract players instead, and --

[Georgie snaps fingers]

Georgie: That's how Judy Garland became a star. Oh -- um -- and -- here. Louis B. Mayer tried to punish Clark Gable by loaning him out to Columbia, except Gable -- the film that he made was "It Happened One Night," which won him an Academy Award. Could you imagine how ticked Louis B. had to be?

Pete: Wow. This is great.

Maxie: Excuse me, Professor? Do you usually keep your students in your apartment until 2:00 in the morning?

Georgie: Ignore my sister.

Maxie: It's just I'm not the best student in the world, and that whole studying and research thing -- I really don't know how it works.

Pete: You say that without the slightest bit of embarrassment.

Maxie: I know where my strengths lie. I'm just curious -- is this standard practice, or is my sister special?

Pete: Well, being that you're Georgie's sister, you should know better than anyone how special she is.

Maxie: Why didn't you get a guy to be your research assistant?

Pete: I'm an equal opportunity professor. If anyone in my class who's male or female would've shown the thoroughness, the diligence, or the natural intuition that Georgie did, they'd have a job, too.

Maxie: I'm sure it can't be that hard.

Pete: Huh. Anyone can go on the internet and get the facts, but Georgie understands the colors and the textures of storytelling. And it goes beyond the research and actually helps in the storytelling.

Maxie: I'm not sure I understand.

Pete: I'm quite sure you don’t.

Georgie: I love that what I'm doing is contributing to something creative. I feel like I'm learning a lot.

Maxie: I bet you do.

Georgie: Shut up, Maxie.

Maxie: Oh, that's mature.

Pete: Well, since you like the process so much, how would you like to read the next chapter?

Georgie: I'd love to.

Pete: Great. So, how about coming to the apartment tonight? Same time?

Georgie: Yeah, I'll be there.

Pete: Perfect.

Georgie: I sure hope you like taking the bus, because I'm not driving you anywhere.

Maxie: That's okay. I know exactly where your car is going to be parked -- right in front of Professor Marquez’s apartment -- or, I'm sorry, do you call him by his first name when you guys are alone?

Georgie: He's my teacher.

Maxie: You do realize this whole research thing is just an excuse, right? He's hitting on you. I say go for it.

Georgie: Why don't you mind your own business and focus on your own life for a change?

Maxie: I don't have to. For once, my life is finally beginning to fall into place.

Lucky: Anyway, we should take this outside.

Robin: It's possible that someone added something to the I.V.

Lucky: That's kind of a leap.

Patrick: Makes more sense than the patient going into cardiac arrest after that type of procedure.

Lucky: Was Alcazar alone at any time during the night?

Skye: All night. The doctors told me he wouldn't wake up until the morning, so I went home to be with our baby daughter.

Det. Rodriguez: Dr. Drake, could you explain to us why a patient in Alcazar's condition wouldn't go into cardiac arrest?

Patrick: Well, it's possible but not likely. His vitals were normal and his blood pressure was level.

Lucky: Robin?

Patrick: I'm going to warn you, Dr. Scorpio's been into the worst-case scenario lately, so --

Robin: I can answer this question, thank you. The surgery was completely successful. Obviously, something caused a sudden plunge in blood pressure. So it is possible that someone injected something like a prusside agent into the I.V., which would've caused that.

Lucky: Elizabeth, you were working last night. Was there anyone hanging around who shouldn't -- like Jason?

Elizabeth: I did see Jason here last night, but not anywhere near this room. He never went past the nurses' station.

Det. Rodriguez: What was he doing here?

Elizabeth: I think he was bringing Carly here to see Skye.

Lucky: Skye?

Skye: Yeah -- Carly came to see me.

Elizabeth: And then Jason left, Epiphany can confirm it.

Lucky: Jason could've doubled back.

Elizabeth: Or maybe somebody else with a stronger motive could've sneaked in here when no one was looking. Did you guys know that Manny Ruiz's brother has been lurking around?

Det. Rodriguez: Father Mateo Ruiz -- I've already called him. He's agreed to answer our questions.

Lucky: Was Father Ruiz anywhere near this room?

Elizabeth: He was in the corridor, but in the opposite direction of the ICU.

Lucky: All right, thanks. Skye, can you wait?

Skye: What, I already told you -- I was home all night.

Lucky: Did Alcazar mention his life might be in danger?

Skye: His life is always in danger. You know, you could start with Sonny Corinthos -- he shot Lorenzo in the head, or hadn't you heard?

Det. Rodriguez: With all due respect, Ms. Quartermaine, but your boyfriend was in Sonny's office with a gun.

Skye: You're kidding me, right? You're actually buying his whole self-defense scenario? Why are you even questioning me? You already made up your mind.

Det. Rodriguez: Sonny wants to avoid a murder rap, which means he needs Alcazar alive. It doesn't make sense why he would send Jason or anyone else to kill Alcazar.

Lucky: And if you know who Alcazar's enemies are, it could help us protect him.

Det. Rodriguez: Father Ruiz. Thank you for coming.

Mateo: I'm glad to be of help.

Elizabeth: Lucky! No --

Mateo: I was at the hospital last night to counsel one of my parishioners -- William Connors. He's been having some trouble on the street.

Lucky: How do I know you're not another psycho freak like your brother?

Elizabeth: Lucky wanted to know if Jason was at the hospital last night.

Epiphany: Well, did you tell him the truth?

Elizabeth: Yes, I did. I told him that he wasn't anywhere near Alcazar's room.

Epiphany: Well, if you told him the truth, what are you worried about?

Elizabeth: I guess the last thing I need is Jason and Lucky in a position to hurt each other.

Patrick: I shouldn't have jumped all over you. You consulted on the case. You have a right to your opinion.

Robin: Would you be apologizing right now if I hadn't said you were brilliant?

Patrick: When did you said that? I must've missed that part.

[Robin laughs]

Robin: It was in the subtext.

Patrick: Oh, yeah -- like everything else.

Robin: So, I've been thinking --

Patrick: This can't be good.

Robin: Honestly -- have you noticed the closer we get on a personal level, the harder it is to remain professional?

Patrick: You know I respect you.

Robin: I know. But when two people are getting as close as we're getting, it's difficult to maintain boundaries. We start assuming what the other person is thinking, and that doesn't leave much room for honesty -- and it's not fair to our patients or our careers.

Patrick: What are you saying?

Robin: I'm saying since I have no intention of breaking up with you, I'm thinking maybe we shouldn't work so closely together.

Maxie: Oh, Lucky -- oh.

Lucky: Maxie, I'm sorry. Are you okay?

Maxie: Yeah, no. I'm sorry, it was my fault. I wasn't watching where I was going.

[Knock on door]

Carly: Alexis? Alexis, come on! Alexis, I saw your car out front, I know you're here.

Alexis: Shh. Shh.

Carly: Look, I need to --

Alexis: Carly, please. I just got the kids down for a nap.

Carly: Good, good -- it's perfect timing for you to pay me back.

Alexis: For what?

Carly: What do you mean, "For what"? Who was the one that got you to the hospital when you were too sick to get there on your own? Who's the one that looked after your girls when they were staying at Sonny's? I have been a pillar of strength and support for you. What do you mean, "For what"?

Alexis: For expediency's sake, I'll stipulate that you have been very helpful to me -- in your way. So, what is this alleged kindness going to cost me?

Carly: I need --

Alexis: Oh, dear.

Carly: Some hypothetical legal advice, please. Hypothetically speaking, let's say a person walks in to an armed confrontation where one gangster's about to shoot another gangster, okay? And -- and this person causes enough of a distraction so the good gangster -- the one who's about to be shot -- manages to grab a gun and shoot the bad gangster, who's the one that started the whole thing.

Alexis: Make a great bedtime story, too bad the kids are asleep. What's your point?

Carly: Sonny shot Alcazar.

Alexis: Your other ex-husband?

Carly: I saw Sonny shoot Alcazar, and Ric knows that I saw Sonny shoot Alcazar. He's going to call me to testify, so I need to know how I can avoid taking the stand -- short of remarrying Sonny.

Sonny: Carly's acting like a 5-year-old child throwing a tantrum. You need to speak to her.

Jason: I told Carly she has to marry you, that's it.

Sonny: Oh, can you tell her again, maybe in a different way?

Jason: No, no, no, no. She gets it, okay? She just has to put up this fight to prove she loves Jax. Once everyone's convinced, she'll marry you.

Sonny: We're talking about a matter of days.

Jason: She's not going to let you go to prison.

Sonny: Well, she's acting like marrying me signals the apocalypse, and I got to be honest with you -- hurts my feelings a little bit.

Jason: There is a painful history between you two and she's afraid to go back there. Just be patient.

Sonny: My future is in her hands. You know how that makes me feel?

Jason: I understand that, Sonny, but you need to trust her, okay? Just make it clear that she's doing you a favor. And once you promise her that this is a marriage of convenience, she --

Sonny: Who said it's a marriage of convenience?

Dillon: My conscience has finally kicked in. I now realize that all the people who suffered at the hands of the faulty Enduro condoms need to be fairly compensated.

Edward: Conscience? Good Lord, Tracy, where'd you find this kid -- under a bush? He isn't blessed with one Quartermaine gene.

Tracy: What made you change your mind?

Dillon: It just felt like the right thing to do.

Edward: You know what, young man? You are liable to give me heart palpitations and I do not need that.

Alan: I don't disagree with Dillon. I think this family has an obligation to the public.

Edward: Listen to me, Alan -- this family has an obligation to this family.

Monica: And I think Lulu is behind this. Told you, Tracy -- we should get rid of her.

Dillon: Lulu has nothing to do with this.

Alan: I think we ought to settle the class-action suit. It's a small price to pay.

Tracy: Oh, you never had one ounce of business sense.

Edward: Oh, and here you go, young man -- following right in step with your Uncle Alan's worthless thinking. You know something? You're a nincompoop. No, no, no -- worse yet, you are an Iago. Look it up. You duped me into trusting you, and now you want to bankrupt my company.

Dillon: Oh, I'm so sorry. I -- I must've been under the impression that it was good business to treat the public ethically.

Edward: Oh, please.

Tracy: Sweetheart, I always knew you were idealistic, but this is ridiculous.

Alice: Well, maybe Dillon should just go back to film school. I mean, remember how happy he was then -- and it was a much better haircut.

Tracy: His hair is not your concern. You are wrong about this lawsuit.

[Doorbell rings]

Edward: This nincompoop is not to be allowed anywhere near the E.L.Q. bottom line.

Tracy: Would you stop calling my son a nincompoop?

Edward: All right, fine. Then you can compensate all those ridiculous ne'er-do-wells who shouldn't have been having sex to begin with.

Tracy: Everybody knows it doesn't make sense to pay off all the Enduro users -- including Dillon. So what is this about?

Dillon: I've had a spiritual rebirth, Mom.

Alan and Edward: Oh --

Monica: Oh, my.

Dillon: A reinvention of my ideals, a new dawn of creativity and principle after the bleak and dark, bitter night of cynicism. To thine own self be true.

Edward: He'll put me in my grave, I swear.

Alice: Ms. McCall is here to see you, Ms. Tracy.

Tracy: I don't have time for Ms. McCall.

Dillon: Oh, you know -- you know what? You know what? This whole -- this whole conversation is pointless, okay? I was born into a rabid pack of wild hyenas, and my only wish is that I had been found under a bush. Thank you very much.

Edward: Listen --

Dillon: Thank you -- no, no, no --

Edward: If I find out that you and your conscience have gone to the media --

Alan: This poor kid's in for a lifetime of therapy.

Monica: He's out of control, Tracy. You've got to rein him in.

Sam: Hey.

Tracy: Huh. And what are you doing here?

Sam: Well, I am applying for a job.

Elizabeth: Maxie, that was quite a fall you took. Are you okay?

Maxie: Just embarrassed. One minute, I was walking and -- oh --

Lucky: Ooh. Where does it hurt?

Maxie: I'm -- I'm just having cramps from the miscarriage --

Elizabeth: Let me call Dr. Lee for you, okay?

Maxie: No, no, no, it's okay.

Elizabeth: No, really, it's no trouble.

Maxie: I -- I don't want to bother Dr. Lee. I'd rather just get back to work.

Elizabeth: Okay. Your call. I'll talk to you later.

Patrick: Okay, I guess I can do a better job keeping our public and private lives separate. Fewer PDAs, less time in the supply closet. It'll kill me, but I guess if that's what you want, then that's --

Robin: You know that's not what I mean. Is it a problem for you?

Patrick: I have to admit, your consults have proven useful to me.

Robin: Is that your passive-aggressive way of saying that you need me?

Lucky: I'm sorry; I should have watched where I was going.

Maxie: You looked kind of upset.

Lucky: We were interviewing Manny Ruiz's twin brother. I felt like I was going to lose it, so I let Rodriguez finish it up. I was just coming out to get some fresh air.

Maxie: Well, that's good. You took yourself out of a difficult situation. I respect that.

Lucky: Just working the program.

Maxie: You should go. I'll see you later.

Jason: Carly wants to marry Jax.

Sonny: Do you really think Jax is going to make her happy?

Jason: It doesn't even matter what I think, or what you think. Carly's going to do what she wants to do.

Sonny: If I don't marry Carly, I go to prison. It don't get much simpler than that, Jason.

Jason: Okay, Carly cares about you. When it counts, she is going to end up on your side. She will marry you to save you. But it would be unfair to take advantage of the situation.

Sonny: You go ahead. Well, you know, you're going to think what you want to think. I just -- she just needs to remember the good times, and -- it could be a second chance for us.

Jason: Has she said she wanted a second chance?

Sonny: I got to convince her otherwise. I'm not going to hurt her this time.

Michael: Hey, Dad.

Sonny: Whoa. Hey!

Morgan: Hi.

Sonny: I didn't know you were coming over.

Michael: Well --

Sonny: What?

Michael: We think that we should live here, now that you and Mom are going to get married.

Carly: If I can avoid testifying, all Ric has is circumstantial evidence.

Alexis: Carly, if you're subpoenaed, you're going to have to tell the truth.

Carly: Ric is going to twist whatever I say and make Sonny look guilty.

Alexis: Ric has to prove guilt. Sonny's attorney has to show there's reasonable doubt so that it's self-defense.

Carly: I can't do that. I can't hang Sonny's future on reasonable doubt. I can't risk that for Michael and Morgan. And I'm not going to let Ric use me to put Sonny away.

Alexis: Carly, if you lie on the stand, Ric is not going to hesitate to charge you with perjury.

Carly: Fine. Then be a brilliant lawyer and get me out of this, please?

[Phone rings]

Carly: Oh. Sonny, I am in the middle of something, and you'll be very happy to know it's all about you.

Sonny: Do you know where your sons are?

Lulu: What -- hey, what took you?

Dillon: Oh. About that -- yeah, I was just destroying my future at E.L.Q., so I hope you have what you're looking for, because I'm being disowned by my family as we speak.

Lulu: Why? What did you say?

Dillon: I said that we should pay off everyone in the Enduro suit.

Lulu: That's crazy.

Dillon: Yes. Yes, it is. My grandfather called me a nincompoop. So I can kiss my E.L.Q. internship goodbye. You know how hard it's going to be to get those credits without it?

Lulu: Well, then why did you do that?

Dillon: Because I told you that I would distract them while you looked for evidence. So I came up with the most outrageous thing I could think of. And it worked.

Lulu: You did that for me?

Dillon: Well, consider it my contribution to proving Laura’s innocence. I just hope it's worth it.

Georgie: Maxie, where are you going?

Maxie: I wasn't feeling well, so I signed out early.

Georgie: But you just got here.

Maxie: Hence the phrase "signing out early."

Georgie: Okay, what is the nature of this sudden illness?

Maxie: I'm sorry; did you get a medical degree when I wasn't looking?

Georgie: Maxie, you were fine at Kelly’s.

Maxie: Yeah, and I took a fall. That kind of shook me up.

Georgie: A fall?

Maxie: Well, Lucky was here working on a case. He had to interrogate this priest, Father Ruiz, who happens to be the twin of the tattooed super-psycho, Manny.

Georgie: Right, and that made you fall?

Maxie: In case you forgot, Manny's the reason Lucky broke his back.

Georgie: Right, while trying to save Elizabeth.

Maxie: That is so not the point.

Georgie: Maxie, yes, that is the point. Lucky broke his back trying to save the woman he loves.

Maxie: Right. Lucky and Elizabeth, together forever until the end of time. Except maybe not.

Georgie: Maxie, when are you going to give this up?

Maxie: I don't even know why I bother. You are so determined to run me down.

Georgie: Maxie, listen. Consider this tough love. I wouldn't be a good sister unless I told you the truth.

Maxie: That's your opinion, Georgie. You don't think Lucky will ever leave Elizabeth. You don't think he'll ever love me. But you don't really know. You're not psychic. And if you'd been paying attention the last couple days, you'd see how his attitude towards me since the miscarriage has completely changed. We hang out now. We -- we take the puppy for walks, and we talk for hours -- not about Elizabeth or anything that happened this summer. But about music, which Lucky still happens to love -- not that anyone bothers to ask him. And we talk about Manhattan and -- and the clubs there, and the amazing stores, and how when you're there, you're free to reinvent yourself.

Georgie: So you think Lucky is going to move to Manhattan with you?

Maxie: No.

Georgie: Maxie, Lucky and Elizabeth are having a baby. And even if they don't get back together -- which they probably will -- Lucky's not going anywhere. He's going to want to stay as close to that baby as humanly possible. I'm sorry, he's not going to Manhattan with you or anywhere.

Maxie: Fine. Consider me officially discouraged. Now, like I said, I'm not feeling very well.

Tracy: Salvage, shipping -- oh, six months as a file clerk at the PCPD. Oh, imagine the heights you will hit with a high school diploma.

Sam: I have taken my GED. I'm waiting for the results. I do feel really good about it.

Tracy: Wow. That's special.

Edward: I'll take it from here, Tracy. Jason is in love with Sam, and that makes her family. And there is always a place for family in E.L.Q.

Skye: Are you alone?

Jason: I am. Why are you here?

Skye: Don't think I'm incapable of defending or avenging Lorenzo.

Jason: Okay. You have a child who may lose her father. Don't risk depriving her of her mother, too, by doing something stupid.

Skye: You can frisk me if you'd like. I'm unarmed, I'm not wired for sound.

Jason: Just tell me what you want.

Skye: Someone tried to kill Lorenzo last night. Someone injected his I.V. with a drug that caused him to have a heart attack. I want to know what you know about it.

Jason: Nothing. I mean, it wasn't me. It wasn't anyone acting on my orders.

Skye: Then I want you to help me figure out who else wants Lorenzo dead.

Sonny: Before you start throwing accusations around, I did not invite them over here. I didn't encourage it in any way.

Carly: Oh, well, you show up at my house demanding I marry you to save you. Obviously, they overheard.

Sonny: We thought they were asleep!

Carly: Until you started yelling!

Sonny: Me? You're the --

Carly: But you know what? You can stand there with me while we tell them that mommy will not be marrying daddy, ever.

Sonny: The idea of us being together is important to them. Don't you want to see your kids happy?

Carly: They're kids, you know? They're resilient. And although us being together is a favorite pipe dream of Michael’s, he can deal with the fact that it's not going to happen.

Sonny: You know what I love about you? That you -- you have all the answers.

Carly: You know what I love about you?

Sonny: What?

Carly: That you'll do whatever it takes to get what you want, including use your children.

Sonny: Oh, come on.

Carly: Michael and Morgan, get down here.

Sonny: Hey, don't forget to tell them how lonely I will be in jail.

Carly: I will tell them that I am looking into every possible alternative. Michael, Morgan, now.

Michael: What? What?

Carly: I would love to know who told you it was okay to pack your things and move back to dad’s.

Michael: Well, Dad said you had to get married.

Carly: No, what happened is mommy and daddy were having an adult conversation that you listened in on, and you shouldn't have.

Michael: Mom?

Carly: What?

Michael: You were yelling.

Sonny: I rest my case.

Carly: Okay. I get why you may have misunderstood the situation, but I'm telling you right now that I am marrying Jax. So I'm very sorry that you got your hopes up. But I cannot marry your father again.

Diane: I'm so glad you brought that up. We need to address the marriage question. It might be our only option.

Robin: Mr. Alcazar can't have any visitors right now.

Mateo: I understand. I'd only need to see Mr. Alcazar if he, or a family member, requested a priest. I'm here to visit another patient.

Elizabeth: I have had two miscarriages, and both times, I've only had cramps for a couple of days.

Kelly: That's normal. Are you feeling okay?

Elizabeth: Oh, yeah, I -- I'm fine. Maxie Jones -- she's still cramping.

Kelly: Yeah -- I checked Maxie's file. There was light bleeding following the miscarriage, but it was a completed A.B. with no internal damage. It wouldn't make sense for Maxie to continue cramping this late.

Epiphany: You still think that Maxie Jones faked her pregnancy?

Elizabeth: I just watched her purposely walk into Lucky and pretend to fall. All I'm saying is she could have easily done the same thing the night she said she miscarried.

Lucky: Hey.

Maxie: Amazing timing. Want to go for a walk with us?

Lucky: Yeah. I've got a few minutes. Why not? Why aren't you at work?

Maxie: I was. They sent me home. They said I needed to rest. I -- I looked pale.

Lucky: You know what? Maybe you should get some rest.

Maxie: I will, in a little bit, but I got this little guy to take care of. Having him in my life makes me feel like I have some kind of purpose. It's nice to be needed.

Lucky: You know I'm really sorry.

Maxie: Lucky, please. My miscarriage was an accident. I don't even blame you, not even a little bit.

Lucky: You've just been amazing.

Maxie: Well, almost being the mother of your child has made me a better person.

Lulu: Well, I looked everywhere and I could not find Rick’s datebook.

Dillon: Well, whoever stole it probably destroyed it.

Lulu: Or they could have hid it in a safe-deposit box or something.

Dillon: Why would they do that? It's proof of -- of guilt.

Lulu: Well, because Monica loved Rick. If she killed him in a moment of passion, she still wouldn't have --

Dillon: She still wouldn't have wanted to destroy something that belonged to him.

Lulu: Exactly. I mean, unless Alan’s the killer. Then -- I should have made copies of the stupid pages.

Dillon: No, you know what? It's okay, it's okay. We're going to figure this out. I got a feeling.

Edward: There you go.

Sam: Thank you.

Edward: I can easily see how you have outgrown salvage work. It's really a job for -- for a vagabond, a gypsy. No, my dear young girl, I think -- I think you have other dreams in mind.

Sam: I do. I really do. I've just been looking for something that's -- I don't know -- something maybe a little bit more consistent.

Edward: Well, you see, salvage work is not exactly a career for a -- for a pregnant woman, or a young mother.

[Edward chuckles]

Edward: Am I getting close?

Sam: Anything's possible.

Edward: Well, I have to tell you that -- that Jason is my favorite grandson. He is. And as you can see from the debacle that was ensuing when you arrived, he is the only one with a modicum of -- of sense or backbone or ambition. And he's the only one with Lila’s eyes.

Sam: You know, I've always thought Jason had beautiful eyes. I only wish that I would have known Lila so much better.

Edward: Oh, yes. You see, I -- I imagine that you and Jason have discussed having children, and I can't imagine that either of you would want to see your offspring grow up in the world that -- that Jason inhabits.

Sam: Mr. Quartermaine, it --

Edward: No, "Edward," please.

Sam: Sorry. Edward, it is way too soon for Jason and I to be even discussing a future with children that --

Edward: But listen --

Sam: We don't even have yet.

Edward: I can promise you this, dear. If you have Jason's baby, that child will be assured of its future. Mm-hmm. Boy or girl, that child will be my favorite heir -- the one to whom I will entrust, you know, the future of my company, and my family.

Jason: The Quartermaines are my family, even if we can't stand each other half the time. They consider you family. So, here's some advice. You should cut Alcazar loose.

Skye: I can't believe that you, of all people, are actually giving me the "danger" speech.

Jason: I don't do speeches. Okay? I'm only saying that Alcazar has some very powerful friends that can turn into powerful enemies.

Skye: Yeah, well, I've -- I've dealt with mobsters before. I'm not afraid of you.

Jason: No, these -- these people are in the government, Skye. They're untraceable and unstoppable. They wouldn't think twice about hurting you if you get in their way.

Skye: If the woman who had just given birth to your child was lying in a hospital bed, clinging to life, even if she had the most powerful enemies in the world, I can't see you walking away from her to save yourself. There are things and people worth risking everything for.

Carly: I can't marry Sonny. It's impossible. I'm engaged to another man. So you are going to have to find another way to get me off the D.A.'s witness list.

Diane: Well, then I guess you better explain the relevance of this to your ex-wife.

Sonny: Ahem -- it's a subpoena, which means you have to appear in court by next Tuesday, and give a statement. Otherwise, you'll face criminal charges.

Carly: Criminal charges?

Michael: For real?

Diane: Of course, if you show up with a ring and proof that you are Mrs. Michael Corinthos J.R., you can avoid this whole mess.

Sonny: How does Monday look for our fourth wedding day?

>> On the next "General Hospital" --

Edward: Let's get started because I have great plans for you.

Carly: If I don't find Jason, I'm going to have to marry Sonny. Ric was working with Alcazar?

Spinelli: Only since, like, day one.

Carly: Can you prove it?

Skye: What is it exactly that you want?

Sonny: You need to convince her to marry me by Tuesday.
