Sam: Yes, I am aware of what night it is, but I placed an order almost an hour ago, so --
[Knock on door]
Sam: Ok, that must be the driver now. Thank you.
[Knock on door]
Robin: How are you?
Patrick: Perfect timing -- you can help me find my dress socks and my tux shoes.
Robin: Uh -- ok. I'm not really sure of the look you're going for.
Patrick: Oh, you joke now, but have you ever seen me in a tux? It's quite a sight.
Robin: I'm sure it is. Where are you going?
Patrick: We are going to the Metro Court.
Patrick: And if there is a God, my old room will be available, and we'll go to the hotel's New Year’s Eve party.
Robin: Well, I think we should stay here. Your place is perfect for New Year’s Eve.
Patrick: Yeah -- except for all the things it's lacking, like furniture, a bed, and room service.
Robin: Well, we'll improvise.
Patrick: Robin, I only took this place to make a point. The landlord was being a jerk for rejecting my tenancy because he found I might be HIV positive. In a month from now, I may be, so I don't want to sit here in an empty apartment on New Year’s Eve. And my belongings hate this place -- I can't find a thing.
Robin: Ok. Look at me -- please? Do you trust me?
Patrick: Implicitly, yes.
Robin: Hmm. Ok. Give me a half an hour, and I promise you, this apartment is the only place you'll want to be on New Year’s Eve.
Sonny: From what I see, you have given Sam everything that you can give -- and more. Forgiving her for, you know, sleeping with my dirtbag of a brother? Where do you feel you're falling short? I --
Jason: Ok. Sam and I got together because, you know, she was pregnant with your baby --
Jason: And afraid to raise it alone.
Jason: Ok? She considered abortion --
Jason: Adoption. And then we -- you know, we finally get to this place where we -- we agree to -- to have the baby, and then raise it together, right? And from that day on, that's all Sam lived for, was -- was the birth of that little girl. You know the baby died.
Sonny: And that was a blow to all of us.
Jason: Especially for Sam. I -- I mean, she -- she finally put it behind her as much as she can, you know, and started looking forward to -- to getting pregnant again.
Jason: But it always got put on hold. First it was her health issues, and then -- then it's my life. My life kept getting in the way.
Sonny: But that was then. What's stopping you now?
Jason: I don't know. I don't know. Maybe -- maybe I'm the one who's afraid.
Joe: Come on, baby, stay with us.
Kelly: I need one more push, Jenny. The baby's almost here.
Jenny: I -- I can't!
Joe: You can, you can. One more, come on. One more, come on.
Joe: Jenny? Jenny, baby?
Kelly: Congratulations, you have a son.
Joe: You hear that, Jenny? We got a boy!
Epiphany: Ok, her BP is down.
Epiphany: You need to leave.
Joe: Leave? Now? What about my wife?
Elizabeth: Joe, you need to stay calm.
Joe: Fine. I -- I can do that. I can do that.
Monica: We got to bag him.
Elizabeth: I don't like his color. His color does not look good.
Monica: He might need a transfusion.
Joe: I don't understand. What's happening?
Epiphany: Ok, get him out of here.
Monica: All right.
Elizabeth: Joe, you need to come with me.
Joe: Now something's wrong with the baby?
Elizabeth: Your wife and baby don't have the same blood type, which isn't unusual, except Jenny produced antibodies --
Joe: Just tell me what to do, ok? Those two people in there are my life. I can't lose them. You said something about blood? Take mine -- all you need.
Epiphany: How much have you had to drink tonight, Mr. Evans?
Joe: I resent that.
Elizabeth: That doesn't really matter.
Epiphany: Oh, the hell it doesn’t.
Elizabeth: We need to find your friend Ethan. Do you know where he is?
Monica: We're going to need that transfusion.
Elizabeth: Which is -- um -- exactly why we need to find Ethan. I'm sorry, Joe, but that little boy in there isn't your son.
Joe: That's ridiculous. Look, of course he is. It's my wife, my son.
Elizabeth: I'm really sorry to have to tell you like this, but your friend Ethan is the father of that baby.
Lucky: Are you ok?
Maxie: Thank God you are still open. Two more minutes and I probably would've frozen solid.
Lucky: Well, but, you know, the diner is closed. I told Mike I would lock up, but I kind of got distracted.
Maxie: Oh. Well, whatever distracted you probably just saved my life.
Sam: Come -- don't do that!
Sam: It's ok, it's ok. I'm just -- I left a window open, and a plant fell over, so we're ok.
Spinelli: You know, I can't help noticing you're still packing, though.
Sam: You know, if we need this, it's not going to do us any good upstairs. So I -- I had to --
Spinelli: You're still wrecked about Evil Al, right?
Sam: I'm a little nervous lately. Yeah, I guess so.
Spinelli: You know, um, there's still Costa Rica.
Sam: Oh --
Spinelli: Just the -- just the two of us?
Sam: Ok, here we go. We're just -- a little reality check, ok? I do -- I do find you somewhat -- amusing and odd, in a cute kind of way, but Jason’s the love of my life. Nothing -- not even you and your little dancing -- is going to change that.
Spinelli: No, no, no, that's cool. I mean, I dig a chick who plays hard to get.
Sam: Ok --
Sam: Cute! But do you honestly not hear what I'm trying to tell you? No? Haven't you ever been in love before?
Spinelli: Uh -- oh -- well, definitely. I mean -- well, I -- I don't know. Define "love."
Sam: Define? Well, there are no words to describe it. It's kind of a feeling you get inside. You would know.
Spinelli: Well, I guess the answer's no, then. Unless you count the dreams I have about being stranded in an all-night buffet with that sick-hot chick from "Lost," you know?
Sam: Ok, now you are impossible.
Spinelli: Thanks. Uh -- I mean, do you really think that this whole thing with Stone Cold is the whole --
Spinelli: Hearts-and-flowers deal?
Sam: Not -- not "think." I know. Jason is it for me. I actually -- I can't wait to start a family with him.
Sonny: You're better with kids than anybody I know, Jason. You don't talk down to them. You know, you're not a pushover, but you love them. Look -- look what you've done to Michael. You taught him so much about, you know, the world outside of Port Charles. You know why you would be a great father? You got so much love to give.
Jason: Yeah, and I'd also want to protect him from harm, right? And how -- how do I do that when my life has so much built-in risk with -- with wack jobs like Manny Ruiz and power freaks like Alcazar? Who wouldn't think twice about using my own kid against me? Look, I'm not complaining. I mean, this is -- it's the work I chose, but a baby doesn't get a choice. You know, he or she gets born into whatever chaos we live in.
Sonny: For a while, you thought Elizabeth was -- was pregnant with your baby. Would you have stayed out of its life if she had been?
Joe: Are you sure about this? Jenny was in pain. Maybe she got confused.
Elizabeth: She was afraid for her baby, and now he's at risk, and we have to do everything we can -- even though it hurts.
Man: Hey, I -- I just heard, man -- you have a son. Congrats. But I don't get why a cop grabbed me and told me I had to be here, but --
Joe: Oh --
Elizabeth: Um -- I'm -- there's no easy way to say this, but there was a complication with the birth, and the baby needs a transfusion from his father, and according to Jenny, that's you.
Joe: It's a mistake, right? Tell her you can't be the father. Tell her.
Ethan: What do you need me to do?
Lorenzo: I feel bad for you. Not enough to activate any residual impulses to ride to the rescue, but it's sad -- so much potential squandered on Sonny. He's ruined you, made you believe that he's the only man who can fit into your life. Sonny's hold on you is permanent, and I pity the man who thinks he can break it.
Carly: Don't stand there and judge me. You don't know me. You obviously never did. But I know you. You're a man without a conscience. You're a man who wants to control everyone around you, a monster that would make a kid like Lulu disappear just because she knew too much. Now, that kind of ruthlessness may make you a great thug, but it certainly doesn't make you a great human being.
Skye: Lorenzo, I forgot the baby bottle in the car. Do you think that you could go out and get it?
Lorenzo: Of course.
Skye: In case you're wondering, I heard everything you said.
Carly: Well, in case you're not wondering enough about the man you just had a child with, let me fill you in. Lorenzo is playing the tortured, misunderstood mobster to the hilt. Don't be a fool, ok? He's capable of anything.
Skye: Who says that's a problem for me?
Patrick: Well, you're right about one thing. It looks like someone's apartment -- someone with deplorable housekeeping skills.
Robin: Be patient. Voila!
Patrick: Now, what is that?
Robin: That is a blow-up mattress. That's what you will use in the meantime before we find you a bed that meets your approval.
Patrick: I really appreciate this -- impulse. But this looks like an apartment -- my apartment -- with all of your stuff in it.
Robin: Which is not unlike your hotel room, which didn't have your things in it, either.
Patrick: No, see, in my hotel room, I didn't have to blow up my bed -- or drink champagne out of a Styrofoam cup -- or lick little condiment wrappers that never open really correctly.
Robin: Ok, just stop complaining for a moment and let me work my magic.
Patrick: Where -- where is this coming from?
Patrick: Seriously, "domestic" isn't really a word that I would associate with you.
Robin: Really? Well, for your information, I am very domestic.
Patrick: Is that right?
Patrick: All right, well, I am going to need some sustenance before I do anything --
Robin: No, no, no, no! Organize first, and then we eat. You can put it in the kitchen until we're ready. In the meantime, I'm going to make up the bed, and work on some mood lighting.
Robin: Oh. Ok.
Skye: Lorenzo is a very complicated man -- just like Sonny.
Carly: Lorenzo's nothing like Sonny.
Skye: Are you sure about that? Look at the way they live their lives, the way we live ours by extension. No day is promised or certain, every moment colored by the possibility of sudden random death. Oh -- and Sonny and Lorenzo are deceitful, too. See, Carly, something about us -- we respond to the call of the wild. We like living on the edge. Not to mention how empowering it is to be able to give the poor, misunderstood mobster a gentle touch to keep him going, or inspire his passion. We're all cut from the same cloth. Lorenzo and Sonny are at least as much alike as you and I are.
Carly: Yeah -- and from where I'm standing, I got the better end of the deal. You're so deep in Lorenzo’s world that you are spouting off his garbage and that, my friend, is the first step in a long walk through hell.
Lorenzo: Oh. The car's road-ready again.
Skye: Not a moment too soon. Regardless, I wish you luck.
Carly: Right back at you. You're the one who's going to need it.
Lorenzo: Thank you for the port in the storm.
Carly: Hello? Jax? Oh, I -- I can't hear you. I miss you, too. I miss you so much. When are you coming home? What? Well, where are you headed to next? Jax? Hello? Oh --
Sonny: It's a simple question, Jason. If you had been the -- the father of Elizabeth’s baby, would you have stayed in its life?
Jason: I would've done whatever Elizabeth wanted me to do. Yeah, I would've tried to persuade her to marry me because I'd want to do right by my kid.
Sonny: Ok. Even if it meant exposing it to the dangerous life you say you live in? Why is that any different than having a baby with Sam?
Jason: Because Elizabeth’s baby is already on the way. I -- there's no conscious decision on my part to bring a kid into my life. There's a difference.
Sonny: No parent can guarantee that a child's going to live a safe life --
Jason: Ok, you know what?
Sonny: No matter what they do for a living.
Jason: It doesn't even matter -- Lucky's the father. Even if he wasn't, Elizabeth wouldn't have married me anyway.
Sonny: I'm not so sure about that, are you?
Jenny: My baby?
Elizabeth: He's here.
Jenny: I have a son?
Elizabeth: And he's beautiful.
Jenny: So nothing went wrong?
Elizabeth: He did need a blood transfusion, but he's fine now.
Jenny: So they know -- both of them?
Joe: I can't believe you did this. You slept with my best friend; you carry his baby, you -- all while pretending like it was mine? What kind of woman are you?
Ethan: Calm down, man, she just had a baby.
Joe: Do not speak to me!
Jenny: You're drunk -- again.
Joe: I'm way past drunk, like, an hour ago. The flask didn't do it for me, so I went and had a few down at the bar. Don't act like you care.
Jenny: I have tried to care. You make it hard sometimes.
Joe: Yeah, well, I guess my best bud here -- he cared enough for both of us. You go to hell!
Ethan: Hey, I mean it, man -- take it easy.
Joe: You get -- you take it easy, "dad."
Lucky: I can't believe you slept with him behind my back. You've carried his baby, all the while pretending that it was mine? What kind of woman are you?
Elizabeth: I can explain --
Lucky: You're the worst kind of hypocrite -- coming down on me taking a few pills, finding comfort with Maxie, when you and Jason --
Elizabeth: You know it was more complicated than that, Lucky. Jason, please tell me you understand.
Jason: I understand you lied to me.
Elizabeth: I didn't know who the father was and, Lucky, you were so excited about the baby. I was afraid that if you found out it could be Jason’s, that you'd go back to using again.
Lucky: That's bull! You were afraid to lose your high moral ground.
Jason: What would happen if you hadn't told the nurse the truth? My baby could be dead right now, and you'd be the reason why.
Lucky: Unless you knew there was a possibility that that child was yours. Elizabeth kept me in the dark, beating me over the head with guilt.
Elizabeth: I was trying to save you.
Jason: What about the baby? Were you going to let our child believe -- believe a lie while it grew up?
Elizabeth: I just thought it only mattered --
Jason: I trusted you more than anyone! How could you do this?
Elizabeth: I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I never meant to hurt anyone. Jason, please don't leave. Please don't leave me and the baby.
Ethan: I'm not going to listen to this anymore.
Jenny: Stop! I'm sorry. I was just trying not to hurt anyone.
Robin: Ok. You may come out of hiding. Wow.
Patrick: I wasn't hiding. I was getting ready for the grand unveiling.
Singer: Welcome to
Patrick: I heard it was black-tie casual.
Singer: You shook my hand
Robin: Hmm. Oh, that's the "casual" part?
Patrick: What can I say?
Singer: And every time
Patrick: I'm very impressed.
Singer: We move in close
Robin: Told you.
Singer: I question my beliefs
Patrick: You know why we're so good together?
Patrick: Is that you have your areas of expertise, and I have mine.
Singer: Awaiting you I stand here craving without a clue
Singer: Sitting on top of
Robin: Oh, I have to finish the books -- arranging them.
Patrick: No, no, no, no, no. Hey -- enough. The only rearranging that's going to be going on --
Singer: So divine
Patrick: Is our bodies. Get over here.
Singer: Woke up here this morning I couldn't
Patrick: Ordinarily, a kiss like that would knock my socks off.
Robin: Hmm. Guess I'm going to have to settle for the pants.
Singer: Of all the memories I have had I'll keep this one up close with me here
Spinelli: Whew. Ow.
Sam: Hey --
Spinelli: But look at -- hey, look at the clock. Stone Cold's not going to make it. I mean, you don't want all your hard work to go to waste, right? Then sit. Partake with me.
Sam: Hey, do you think I would be a good mother?
Spinelli: Well, look, I just don't think you should --
Sam: Desecrate my hotness --
Sam: Whatever that means. Yeah, you're probably right. I'd probably be a really lousy mother. I mean, violence follows Jason, and I'm always tripping over it. I shot Diego in front of my little sister and traumatized her. I would probably be an awful parent.
Spinelli: Oh, I -- no. Hey -- look, I -- I admit, I do not get what you see in that guy, but -- I mean, it's obvious that you and the mobbed-up one have, like, a real thing for each other. And I mean, that's half the battle right there. And -- and you got the beauty thing going -- outside and in. And yes, I would -- it pains me to think you might defile the body aesthetic, but -- no, that doesn't mean I don't think you'd be a good mom. In fact, I think you'd be one of the best.
Jason: Elizabeth already made the call. You know, I told her I would marry her. She turned me down.
Sonny: Well, she might have changed your mind if the baby was yours.
Jason: Yeah, but it isn’t. Why are we -- why are we even speculating about what's not going to happen?
Sonny: Ok, let's talk about what's going on right now. I -- I live the same life you do. It didn't stop me from adopting Michael or, you know, having Morgan with Carly. Kristina wasn't planned, but she's my daughter and I love her to death. Have my children suffered because of me? Absolutely. It's a living hell watching it happen, but I'll tell you right now -- I wouldn't trade them for anything in the world. We do the best we can to protect our children, and we just got to have a little blind faith that they're going to make it through.
Jason: What are you trying to tell me?
Sonny: What I'm trying to say is you're making a decision not having a baby with Sam out of fear of something you can't control. That's a lousy way to live your life.
Michael: Hey, dad. Our New Year's Eve isn't really fun, so -- could you come over?
Maxie: Well, I started out with another wish tonight.
Lucky: Yeah? Well, what was that?
Maxie: Nothing. Um -- I should -- I should go.
Lucky: I'm not going to let you walk out of here in a snowstorm. What was that wish?
Maxie: Come on, Lucky, I've put you out enough. I'm not going to do that again.
Lucky: Ok, just tell me.
Maxie: All right. I wanted to go dancing. Maybe get lost in a song; kind of forget everything that's happened. Start the New Year off not so tragic. Silly, right?
Singer: When the bells are ringing and the horns all blow and the couples we know are finally kissing will I be with you or will I be among the missing?
Singer: Maybe it's much too early in the game oh, but I thought I'd ask you just the same what are you doing New Year’s New Year’s Eve?
Singer: I wonder whose arms will hold you good and tight when it's exactly 12:00 that night welcoming in the new year new year's eve maybe I'm crazy to suppose I'd ever be the one you chose out of 1,000 invitations you receive oh, but in case I stand one little chance here comes the jackpot question in advance what are you doing new year's New Year's Eve?
Singer: Maybe I'm crazy to suppose I'd ever be the one you chose out of 1,000 invitations you receive oh, but in case I stand one little chance here comes the jackpot question in advance what are you doing New Year’s New Year’s Eve? New Year’s Eve?
>> Next week on "General Hospital" --
Michael: What's your resolution, dad?
Sonny: I got a feeling that it's the same as your mother’s.
Maxie: I'm sorry.
Lucky: Don't apologize, Maxie.
Jason: I want us to have a child.
