Lulu: When did the doctors tell you that mom's recovery was only temporary?

Luke: I knew before they gave her the medicine.

Lulu: How could you keep that a secret? How could you --

Laura: Lulu, stop. Don't blame your father.

Carly: I have to think. Ok, there's so much that I have to do.

Jax: Well, there's -- there's no hurry, ok? No, there's no hurry.

Carly: Everything's different now. If Jason is gone, then everything has changed.

Sonny: Do you know how many times Jason begged me to let him kill you, starting when you chained Carly to a wall when she was pregnant with our son because you wanted to steal our baby, up until you slept with Sam? And you know why I let you live? I'll tell you why I let you live. One reason, and one reason only. Because you're my mother's son. Now Jason is dead. He was my real brother, and you had him killed. That takes all bets off the table.

Ric: You're not going to do it, Sonny. There's no way you can kill me.

[Gun clicks]

[Ric sighs]

Sonny: I guess fate's not going to let you die tonight.

Jason: Elizabeth --

Elizabeth: Jason? Oh, my God, are you hit? Hey, can you hear me? Please don't die, ok? Please don't die. You have to stay with me -- for the baby's sake. It's not Lucky's, Jason. The baby is ours.

Lulu: Aren't you angry? You had a right to know what was happening to you, just like we did!

Laura: We all know now.

Lulu: But dad's known all along!

Laura: Lulu, keeping this secret was one of the hardest things that your father has ever had to do, and it's also one of the most heroic.

Lulu: Why is that? Because he led you to believe that you were here to stay even though you weren't?

Lucky: Take it easy, Lulu.

Lulu: No!

Laura: All right, listen to me, listen to me. What if we knew from the start that I was only going to be here for a short time? What would that have been like?

Lulu: It would've made a huge difference.

Laura: Yes, I agree -- it would've cast a shadow on every single day, on every moment that we had together. You know, all of those joyous moments -- like the first time I saw you as a grown woman or the first time you hugged me or when you gave me the beautiful wedding present or the first time I saw Spencer, or when you told me that Elizabeth was expecting -- all of those moments -- they would've been moments of sadness instead of joy. Because we would've been focused on what we had to lose instead of what we had to celebrate. Please, don't be angry with your father. Try to appreciate the sacrifice that he made so that we could be a family again, even if it was only for a short time.

Luke: Thank you, sweetheart. Can we all move on now?

Nikolas: Mom? How long do you have left? Do the doctors have any idea?

Laura: I don't think it's very long.

Alexis: Ok, sweetie. It's ok. We'll go sit down over here. Isn't this pretty? Viola was planning a nice surprise party for you. She made the room look pretty.

Viola: Happy birthday, Kristina.

Alexis: It's ok, baby. It's ok. Mommy came home from the hospital just to be with you. Happy birthday.

Sam: Mac, how is Kristina? Did they take her to the hospital?

Mac: I honestly don't know. You have a lot of charges filed against you. The murder of Diego Alcazar will take priority.

Sam: It was self-defense. He was shooting at us.

Mac: Did the arresting officer read you your rights?

Sam: Yeah.

Mac: Then you know whatever you say can be used against you.

Sam: Look, I don't care. I don't care. Do you know where Jason is?

Mac: They haven't recovered his body yet.

Lorenzo: My son was just gunned down in cold blood! You don't have a right to bring me in here for questioning!

Mac: I appreciate your cooperation with this and I'll make it fast. What was your son doing in that warehouse?

Lorenzo: He was getting murdered.

Ric: You know I could have you charged with attempted murder?

Sonny: You got no witnesses, Ric.

Ric: Yeah, Rodriguez saw you come in here.

Sonny: Look, you were fine when he left, you're fine now. Fate was on your side tonight.

Ric: So, what are you telling me? That if there would've been a bullet in that chamber, you would've killed your own brother, right?

Sonny: I should've let Jason kill you that night in the parking lot.

Ric: Well, it's your mistake, I guess!

Sonny: Well, it can still be fixed. We can keep playing this game with the bullet if you want until fate decides it's time for you to die!

Elizabeth: Jason, do you have your cell phone on you? Where is it? Ok. Got it. Somebody help me, please! I need help!

Jason: Hey, stay.

Elizabeth: No, no, it's ok.  I'm going to go to the car and I'm going to get the cell phone, ok?

Jason: No, no.

Elizabeth: But, Jason, you've been shot. I have to call 911.

Jason: No cops, please.

Elizabeth: You need to be in the hospital.

Jason: I just -- I just need a place to rest. Bring your car around the back.

Elizabeth: Ok, you need to listen to me. I -- I cannot carry you, ok, and you cannot walk. You're going to bleed to death and we're wasting time, so let's go.

Jason: We can -- we can do this. I trust you.

Laura: I've known for a while that something was wrong. I was hoping maybe that it was the residual effects of the medication and that I was still moving forward. But I'm not. I'm sure that you must have noticed.

Lulu: I havenít.

Nikolas: You know, there were a couple glitches before the wedding. I just thought it was nerves.

Lucky: And you couldn't remember why you called us here.

Lulu: But she did remember. She's ok.

Laura: The memory lapses are happening more often. I'm getting worse. And I know in my heart that I have to leave soon.

Lulu: Don't say that.

Laura: There's one thing that I want you all to understand. Luke had very, very difficult decisions to make right from the very start, but he did exactly what I would've wanted him to do. He brought us all together, and he gave us as many perfect days as we could possibly have as a family. And I -- I would've risked anything to have had that time with you, even if I knew the truth right from the very start.

Lulu: You can't leave, mom! I can't lose you again! I -- I don't want to lose you again!

Laura: All right.

Lulu: I can't do it.

Laura: Yes, you can. You can do it. You're strong.

Carly: You don't know me without Jason. I don't even know me without Jason. So you think that I am this brave, smart, strong person, Jax?

Jax: You are all those things.

Carly: That's because I knew no matter how badly I screwed up, that Jason would always be there. I broke his heart, and he loved me anyway. I ruined his life, and he stayed loyal. And he defended me, and he protected my kids, and Jason made everything better, Jax -- everything.

Jax: You just got -- got to give yourself a chance to grieve, ok? You need to get some rest so you can be strong for Michael and Morgan. Isn't that what Jason would want?

Carly: You're right. I'm going to do exactly what Jason would want me to do.

Elizabeth: You are bleeding, remember? I checked out my key; it still works. Can you believe that? Ok, the boiler's on, so it's nice and warm. Are you ok?

[Jason groans]

Jason: I'm just glad you were at that church.

Elizabeth: Me, too. Ok. You all right? All right --

Jason: Agh!

[Elizabeth grunts]

[Jason groans]

Elizabeth: All right, let me check this out.

[Jason pants]

Elizabeth: Ok, let me look at it. Ok, ok. Ok, I think I got it. Oh, Jase --

Jason: Agh.

Elizabeth: Ok. I don't see or feel an exit wound, so that means the bullet is probably still in your leg, and I don't think it hit an artery -- but I don't really know.

Jason: It didn't, or I'd -- I'd be dead.

Elizabeth: Ok, listen to me. If you don't bleed to death, the infection alone could kill you.

Jason: Just get the bullet out.

Elizabeth: What? I can't do that by myself.

Jason: Yes, you can. Get it out. Just get -- get the bullet out, please.

Sonny: I heard about Kristina.

Alexis: Come outside. Kristina saw Sam shoot Diego.

Sonny: What?

Alexis: When I got there, she was in shock. I had to pry her out of Samís arms. She wouldn't even come to me, and she hasn't said a word since.

Sonny: How come she's not in the hospital?

Alexis: Because Dr. Winters thought it would be better if I brought her here so she could be in familiar surroundings.

Sonny: Ok, I want to talk to her. Hey, beautiful little girl. Happy birthday. Guess what -- I got your birthday present in the car. You want to go get it? You'd probably rather open the present with your brothers tomorrow? Huh?

[Phone rings]

Sonny: Well, you know what? You don't have to decide anything right now. You know why? Because all I want you to do is get some rest. Daddy loves you.

Sonny: Yeah?

Elizabeth: I'm calling from my old studio. A friend of yours is here.

Mac: The flash powder tests confirm you fired your weapon. Have a seat. Ballistics can link it to the bullet pulled out of Diego.

Sam: Diego was shooting at Jason.

Mac: But not at you?

Sam: No -- I mean, yes. He -- he was shooting at all of us.

Mac: Who were you with? I need a name. Sam, I called the hospital. Kristina hasn't been admitted.

Sam: Thank you.

Mac: Is there anyone else you'd like me to call?

Sam: What about Jason?

Mac: The divers haven't come up with anything yet. They're doing the best they can searching the harbor. The current runs strong at night, as you probably know. There's a chance they may never recover Jasonís body. I'm sorry. You sure you don't want me to call anyone, maybe Alexis?

Carly: Don't say a word. I'll take care of whatever Sam needs.

Laura: Come on, now. I don't want to waste any more time dwelling on what we're going to lose. I -- I want to treasure moments like these, you know? Look at us. We're all here together, gathered in the living room, and we're all getting along.

[Laura laughs]

Laura: You know? How many families get that?

Lucky: You were always so good at that. No matter where we were or how fast we had to disappear, you'd find a way to look at the bright side.

Laura: We had some pretty incredible years on the road, didn't we? Huh. Depending on each other and thinking on our feet?

Lucky: Yeah. You brought me up in a family that I want to have.

Laura: And you will. I know you will. Now, listen. All of you are going to survive this because you're very strong and because you have each other. I want to talk to you a little bit about what it's going to be like after I'm gone.

Luke: , Sweetheart, we have plenty of time to deal with that.

Laura: But, Luke, I don't want you to worry about anything that happened over these last few weeks, ok? I don't want you to feel guilty about anything you said, or anything you didn't say. I just -- I want you to know that when I do leave, I don't want you to think that I'm suffering, because I'm not. I can't remember anything about those last four years. It was as if time didn't even exist for me. So when I do slip away, I just want you to know that I'm resting, and that I'm at peace. Ok? Ok?

Lulu: Yeah, mom.

Laura: And don't tie yourself to me.

Lulu: But you -- you want us to come see you?

Laura: If it makes you feel better, then yes, fine. But don't come to see me out of some sense of obligation or guilt, because I don't want that. I want you all to go on. I want you to live your lives to the fullest. I want you to -- I want you to be good to each other. I want you to be a family. That's the best way to show me that you love me.

Nikolas: Mom? Tell us -- tell us what you need right now. What can we give you right now that -- that would make you smile?

Laura: Memories.

Jason: Oh!

Elizabeth: Jason, you've lost too much blood. You need to be in the hospital.

Jason: I can't --

[Knock on door]

Sonny: Elizabeth, open up.

Elizabeth: Hi. I found him in that old sailors' chapel by the docks and I drove him here in my car.

Sonny: You did good. You ok?

Jason: Yeah. Sam -- Sam safe?

Sonny: Yeah, yeah, she's ok.

Jason: Where is she?

Sonny: She got arrested. She killed Diego Alcazar.

Jason: Ok, just tell her -- tell her that I'm alive.

Sonny: All right.

Jason: Ok?

Sonny: Yeah.

Jason: And find -- find Spinelli -- find Spinelli before -- before Ric and Alcazar do.

Sonny: Ok. I'll take care of that.

Jason: Ok, and just -- just tell her I'm ok.

Sonny: All right.

Elizabeth: He still has the bullet in his leg.

Sonny: Ok, you're going to have to take that bullet out.

Elizabeth: I can't! Even if I was qualified, I don't have the right instruments.

Sonny: Ok, you got to understand something. Alcazar's people are looking all over the place for that computer kid. I can't take the chance of taking Jason out of here or bringing a doctor here for at least a couple of days.

Elizabeth: But he can't wait that long.

Sonny: I can only help you so much tonight. If anybody's going to save Jason, it's going to be you.

Laura: Uh -- I -- I can remember things in bits and pieces, you know? A sound, and then sometimes a smell. Hmm. Oh, I remember you and Emily pounding up and down the stairs when you were little kids.

[Laura laughs]

Laura: Oh. And I remember you toddling across the floor when you were just a little girl. And the smell of bread baking. And your face the first time you walked in this house.

Nikolas: The first real home I'd ever been in.

Laura: I want to hear about the things you remember, though, all of you.

Lulu: What? You mean, like, anything?

Luke: Yeah, but preferably something where I'm not the big bad bogey dad.

[Lulu laughs]

Lulu: Uh --

Luke: Is there anything?

Laura: Oh.

Luke: Nothing springs to mind?

Lulu: Ok. Um -- my seventh birthday party -- we made, remember, the -- the pink cake with the electric-pink icing?

[Luke laughs]

Lulu: And -- and you and I went into the kitchen and -- and we mixed it, and -- and you let me dump in all the pink sugar. You remember? Um -- everyone sang and I don't know. It was -- it was the only time that I remember all five of us together. So -- um -- we were laughing, and -- and I remember Nikolas. You -- I thought you were so handsome. You looked like you were part of this fairy tale. And, Lucky, you were so cool playing your guitar. And -- and, dad, you actually stayed for cake and ice cream.

Luke: Oh --

[Luke laughs]

Lulu: And -- um -- and, mom? I guess it -- it never crossed my mind that you wouldn't be here forever. So that -- that's what I remember -- one perfect afternoon with pink cake.

Laura: I remember, too.

Lulu: You --

Alexis: Kristina saw Sam shoot Diego.

Jax: How did that happen?

Alexis: I don't want to get into it now. She's not in any position to receive gifts.

Jax: Ok.

Alexis: She needs some rest.

Jax: Why don't you let me take over for a while, ok?

Alexis: Go ahead.

Jax: Hey, Kristina. Happy birthday. I brought you a gift. But you know what? It can wait -- it can wait till tomorrow. How about I tell you a little birthday story instead, huh? All you have to do is listen. It's about the Queen of the Outback. You know, hardly anyone's ever seen her, but we know she exists. Because once a year on her birthday -- which happens to be today -- the fog rolls in and there's a full moon, and the Queen of the Outback -- she -- she goes out for a stroll. Yeah. But you know what? Not everyone can see her. Only little girls that share the same birthday can see her, and only if the conditions are absolutely perfect. So there's a good chance if you look out across the way, that you might see the Queen of the Outback just strolling through the night in the mist, looking up at the moon.

Mac: If you want to talk to Sam, you better do it now. She's going to be out of commission for a while. We're charging her with murder.

Carly: I want to know what happened to Jason.

Sam: I don't know. We were about to turn ourselves in, and -- and then we were ambushed. We were trapped in the warehouse, and Diego Alcazar -- he started shooting, and I shot him. I -- I shot him, and then I heard this screaming, and I look over and it's Kristina, and she saw the whole thing.

Carly: How the hell did she get in the warehouse?

Sam: I have absolutely no idea. But Jason -- I --

Carly: What happened to Jason, Sam?

Sam: The computer kid -- he was -- he was just -- ran, and he -- and he went, and Jason went after him. And the cops -- they told him to drop his weapon, and he did, and they shot anyway. Ric gave the order for them to shoot. And then he fell off the catwalk into the water.

Carly: You know, I always thought that if Jason were killed, it was because of business. But he died saving your life.

Sam: Oh. If I would've just stayed and -- and never run, if I would've -- it's my fault.

Carly: You can't worry about that now, all right? But I'm going to do exactly what Jason would want me to do and I'm going to get you the hell out of here.

Lorenzo: My son is dead. What are you going to do about it?

Ric: I'm sorry for your loss. But you and Diego knew what he was getting into when you got him into this business.

Lorenzo: That's it? That's what you have to say?

Ric: Look, the woman who murdered your son is in custody. She will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Lorenzo: And you believe that's an even trade for the blood of my son?

Ric: I'm saying that your son's killer will be tried and convicted.

Lorenzo: You call yourself a father? If you love your daughter even just a little, then I think you understand that I'm not going to let this go. Diego was my only son, and he was shot like a dog doing your dirty work.

Ric: I deeply regret your loss, Mr. Alcazar but your son's death is not my responsibility.

Lorenzo: My son's death is going to be avenged. And if you're not willing to help, then you will be removed -- just like Sam, just like your brother.

Elizabeth: I just have to sew him up.

Sonny: You saved his life.

Elizabeth: Either that or I killed him with all these germs.

Sonny: No, you did great. Listen, you're doing exactly what Jason would want. I'll be right back, ok? Make sure you lock the door when I leave?

Elizabeth: Yeah. I'll let you know if anything changes.

Lucky: That is me on my skateboard, and that is me playing hockey in Canada. That's me on a horse. Was that at the ranch?

Lulu: Oh, you look so tiny!

Luke: Yeah, I used to play poker with those cowboys every Friday night, and then they would lead you around on their cow ponies.

[Lulu gasps]

Lulu: Look, it's Foster -- and I'm sleeping next to him.

Laura: That was the only way I could get you to take your nap. Oh, you called that dog "Skillethead."

Luke: You remember that?

Laura: I told you -- bits and pieces.

Lucky: Foster was such a great dog, and you acted like you didn't even like him.

Lulu: Yeah, but you snuck him cheese fries from the club.

Luke: I was trying to poison him.

Laura: Is that Wyndemere?

Nikolas: Yes, yes. Elizabeth and Lucky once dreamed of dancing in that ballroom, so I thought it was only fitting if they got married there.

Lucky: Nikolas made it happen.

Lulu: What boat is that?

Laura: I think it's the Haunted Star, isn't it?

Luke: Yes, it is -- before renovations. Damn, it sure doesn't look as good today as it did back then, does it, hon? Laura?

Nikolas: Mom, you've had -- you've had a long day, you're exhausted. You should probably -- right?

Lucky: Yeah.

Laura: I want this to be the best Christmas ever.

Luke: Yeah, I know how much you love Christmas, sweetheart. We got to get through Turkey Day first.

Laura: I know. It's just that I'm not going to be here for the real one, so it's Christmas in my heart.

Lucky: Mom, wait.

Lulu: Mom?

Luke: Hey, hold on. It's ok. It's ok, kids.

[Laura sighs]

Laura: I used to worry about this garden in November. Was everything mulched? Did I bury the tulips to the right depth? Where did I put the crocus?

Luke: You loved this yard.

Laura: I still do. And I don't see why I can't have it. Why can't I be looking forward to the lilacs in the spring, and planning my garden for next year? I should be ordering seed catalogues and going Christmas shopping for my new little grandson. I should be helping Lulu to decide what she's going to do with her life. And I should be making plans to baby-sit for Lucky and Elizabeth. But none of that's going to happen, is it? I'm going to go back inside myself, like the trees in the winter -- hiding, waiting out the cold. Waiting for a spring that never comes.

[Luke sighs]

Luke: I appreciate the way you defended me to the kids. But they were right, and so are you. I should've told you what you were facing from the start.

Laura: I meant what I said. I think you made a real sacrifice and I'm very grateful to you. I'm just angry because even after all the wonderful things you've given me -- like the wedding and the kids and the precious time as a family -- I'm still losing the thing that I love the most. I'm losing you.

Ric: Well, we could probably put you away for life with what we have on you now, but unfortunately, you're not going to be charged with your worst crime, and that's what you did to Kristina.

Sam: Me? What I did to Kristina? You knew she was in that warehouse, Ric. You saw me holding her. You're the one who ordered the cops to shoot. You ordered the cops to shoot Jason -- in front of Kristina!

Ric: No, I didn't hurt Kristina, Sam, you did. Your little sister has been completely traumatized. Her whole life is destroyed because of you!

Carly: They got Sam in lockup and they're charging her with Diegoís murder. You got to get down there. You know this is what Jason would want us to do, ok?

Sonny: Can you let me talk? You got to listen to me.

Carly: You need to call Bernie, get a high-power lawyer in New York City because Alexis is not going to do it.

Sonny: Carly, I saw -- I saw Jason.

Carly: They found his body, didn't they?

Sonny: He's alive.

Elizabeth: Hi.

Jason: Did you get the bullet out?

Elizabeth: Yeah. And I stopped the bleeding, and your fever's going down, but you really should be in the hospital.

Jason: No. You saved my life.

Elizabeth: I'm just glad you're alive.   There's so much I never told you.

[Music plays]

Singer: Bows and flows of angel hair and ice cream castles in the air and feathered canyons everywhere I've looked at clouds that way but now they only block the sun they rain and they snow on everyone so many things I would've done but clouds got in my way I've looked at clouds from both sides now from up and down still somehow it's cloud illusions I recall I really don't know clouds at all

Singer: Moons and Junes and Ferris wheels the dizzy-dancing way that you feel 'cause every fairy tale comes real I've looked at love that way but now it's just another show and you leave them laughing when you go and if you care don't let them know don't give yourself away I've looked at love from both sides now from give and take and still somehow it's love's illusions that I recall I really don't know love

>> Stay tuned for scenes from the next "General Hospital."

>> On the next "General Hospital" --

Elizabeth: You really need to get your rest.

Jason: What were you saying to me in the church before I passed out?

Laura: I want that one last Christmas; something that we can all remember.

Luke: Merry Christmas!
