Girl: What are you doing here?
Lulu: I -- I brought you a birthday present.
Girl: My birthday was last week.
Lulu: I know, I know. I've been out of town.
Girl: Why should this year be any different?
Lulu: Okay, I -- I didn't come here to fight.
Lulu: I'm sorry. I'm so sorry that I missed your birthday.
Girl: Look, I don't want some stupid birthday present you bought to make yourself feel better. Why can't you just leave me alone?
Lulu: Because I'm your mother.
Girl: I don't have a mother.
Lulu: You don't mean that.
Girl: Yes, I do. I hate you and I wish I'd never been born.
Lulu: Okay, wait --
Luke: You okay, gumdrop?
Lulu: Not even close.
Emily: I came as soon as I got your message. What's wrong?
Nikolas: I need your help.
Emily: What can I do?
Nikolas: We need to find a way to convince Lucky to go to rehab. My brother's a drug addict, Emily. He needs professional help.
Emily: I agree, but Lucky has to make the decision for himself, Nikolas. If not, he's going to spend all of his time in rehab resenting us instead of facing his real problems.
Nikolas: I -- I have to do something.
Emily: Just be there when Lucky needs you. That's all you can really do for him -- or for Lulu and Alexis.
Alfred: This stops now.
Jax: Hey. Hey. Up for a visitor?
Alexis: As long as it doesn't involve potting soil and adequate sunlight.
Jax: No, no, no. It doesn't require anything to do with plants or anything like that, just positive energy.
Alexis: What's in that bag?
Jax: Oh, oh, now, that is --
Alexis: That's for me.
Jax: No --
Alexis: You shouldn't have. And let's see -- and it's not for me, is it?
Carly: Hey. I need to talk to Jason. Where is he?
Sonny: He's out of town.
Carly: Well, I know that much. Can you call him for me?
Sonny: Uh -- he's working, and he -- I don't think he -- he has time to deal with your problems right now.
Carly: This is an emergency, Sonny.
Sonny: Are you bleeding? Is this about Michael and Morgan?
Carly: No. The boys are fine.
Sonny: Okay. Then it can wait.
Carly: Can you please call him for me?
Sonny: No, no, no --
Carly: Then give me the number, I'll call him myself. If he doesn't want to talk to me, then he can tell me.
Sonny: What is the emergency, Carly?
Carly: It's personal, and I'm not going to talk to you about it.
Sonny: Okay. That means it's about you and Jax.
Elizabeth: 10th-floor nurses' station. Hey, Kelly, it's Elizabeth. Um -- listen, I have a -- I'm in on Tuesday, and do you think I could make an appointment for after my shift is over? Great. Thank you. Also, one more thing. I know I'm being really obsessive about this, but as my ob-gyn and my friend, I need you to keep this discreet, because I don't want Lucky to know that I'm pregnant until the paternity tests come back. Okay, thank you. Bye. Hey.
Lucky: You don't have to do that for my benefit.
Elizabeth: Do what?
Lucky: Scare up a smile.
Elizabeth: What --
Lucky: I mean, you're entitled to have a bad day, you know.
Elizabeth: Two of the nurses did call in sick, so I'm stuck covering.
Lucky: Hmm. Well, then I'm just in time. Um -- uh -- we -- we've been invited to a party tonight, you know, that the mayor is throwing over at the Metro Court, and I have a feeling he wants to parade me around as the hero who got rid of Manny Ruiz.
Elizabeth: Do you really think you should?
Lucky: What, pretend? Ignore the fact that Jason killed Manny?
Elizabeth: That's not what I meant. I mean, you just got off your pills. I don't know if going to a party where there's alcohol and the pressures of publicity is a good idea.
Lucky: Well, I know, but I need to do this for my career, for us. I'll -- I'll be back to pick you up after your shift.
Elizabeth: All right.
Nikolas: I'm worried about Elizabeth. She's trying so hard to keep her family together. But she's -- she's just terrified that Lucky's going to have a relapse, and then she'll have to leave him.
Emily: Maybe losing Elizabeth is the wake-up call Lucky's going to need to kick this addiction.
Nikolas: Well, let's -- let's hope it doesn't come to that. I don't want Lucky to ruin his one chance at happiness. Regrets like that last forever.
Emily: It's, you know, the treatment facility at Shadybrook and they specialize in prescription drug addiction. They have this new method. Apparently, it's supposed to have a very high success rate, and they're known to be very discreet. I think it -- it might be the place for Lucky when he decides he's ready to get treatment.
Nikolas: Yeah, it -- it sounds perfect.
Emily: Okay. Well, if you have any questions, I can go with you. We can meet the counselors and take a tour.
Alfred: Your job is to look after Mr. Cassadine's son, not to listen in on his private conversations.
Colleen: Nikolas wanted to give Spencer his evening bottle.
Colleen: I was about to go in when I saw that he had a guest.
Alfred: A guest that you object to Nikolas spending any time with.
Colleen: My only objection is that Spencer is waiting to be fed.
Colleen: Who Nikolas chooses to socialize with is none of my concern.
Colleen: If you'll excuse me.
Alfred: I am well aware of your feelings for Mr. Cassadine. Find a way to control them, or I shall be forced to address the issue, which, no doubt, will result in your dismissal.
Mayor Floyd: Right. I want you to start setting up those paintings in the lobby for the silent auction. Yes, and I want them all arranged before the guests arrive, thank you. Ms. McCall.
Sam: Commissioner Scorpio said you need these as soon as possible, so --
Mayor Floyd: Great. Thanks a lot. Okay, let's see -- homicides -- no.
[Mayor Floyd chuckles]
Mayor Floyd: Gunshot wounds, higher than the national average. Homicides -- what a surprise -- higher than the national average. Well, I'm not going to get reelected with figures like these. Yeah. It's about time I make good on some of my campaign promises, rid this city of organized crime once and for all.
Sam: I got to get back to the hospital.
Mayor Floyd: Oh -- uh -- how is your mother?
Sam: She's doing great, really, really good. Thank you for asking. They're going to start chemotherapy as soon as she's strong enough.
Mayor Floyd: Good. Well, you know, Alexis is very stubborn, not to mention competitive. And with her husband filling in as interim D.A., I'm sure that that is -- well, I'm sure she's very anxious to get back to work.
Sam: She is.
Mayor Floyd: It must make for an interesting marriage, huh?
Sam: It does. Yes.
Mayor Floyd: Well, listen, I don't want to keep you. Uh -- I'm sure you want to stop by into the hospital and see your mother before the party tonight. Ric told me that he was bringing you.
Sam: He did?
Mayor Floyd: Well, yeah. Listen, I think it'll be good for both of you to spend some time out of the hospital. I understand that you've been taking care of your mother's affairs in more ways than one.
Sam: What do you mean by that?
Mayor Floyd: Ms. McCall, this is an office of appearance as well as record. It will look much better for Alexis as D.A. now that her daughter is no longer associated with a high-profile thug like Jason Morgan.
Alexis: I'm sure Carly will be really thrilled with this.
Jax: Yes, thank you. I know what you're going to say, so just --
Alexis: You don't know what I'm going to say. Hey, you don't know what I'm going to say at all, because I'm too tired to tell you that your heart is going to be impaled on her heel.
Jax: Oh, come on, my heart is perfectly safe with Carly. Okay? So just --
Alexis: I thought you left town to get over this. And now you come back here to let her torture you some more?
Jax: No, Carly was not the reason that I left town, okay? After I -- I gave John over -- I mean Spencer -- after I gave Spencer over to Nikolas, I just couldn't imagine my life without that little boy in it. But the longer I stayed away, the more I realized I really missed what Carly and I had together. So --
Alexis: I guess that I'm too tired to tell you that I think that you deserve more than what Carly can give.
Jax: You know, when Carly thought that I was in trouble, she flew to Africa -- with her kids -- to make sure that I was okay. That's the kind of person she is.
Jax: So now it's my turn to prove to Carly that her heart is safe with me.
Sonny: You flew all the way across the world to find Candy Boy and he's already treating you like a piece of dirt.
Carly: Not that it's any of your business, but Jax is jumping through hoops to get me to trust him again.
Sonny: That's a game. He just -- you know, he's going to throw some cash around, he's going to have a little bit of fun, and -- but, you know, he's not making any real effort --
Carly: This is why I want to talk to Jason, because he doesn't talk just to hear himself speak.
Sonny: How long do you think it's going to take Jax to get bored and go back to Africa? A week? Two weeks? Three weeks?
Carl Jax is willing to wait for me as long as it takes for me to trust him again. You know why? Because he trusts me --
Carly: Unlike some people that do nothing but test me.
Sonny: Is this about you and Jax or you and me?
Carly: This may come as a surprise to you, but my life doesn't revolve around you.
Sonny: Well, that's because you're too busy letting it revolve around Jax. What happened to the new-and-improved Carly, the one, you know, who doesn't need a man?
Carly: I don't need Jax.
Sonny: Is that what you're trying to prove by packing up everything, chasing after him like he's -- you know, I don't know.
Carly: I fight for what I want. You're just jealous that I'm not fighting for you.
Sonny: Okay. I am -- I'm worried about you because you were doing great, and I don't want to see you melt down when it doesn't work out with Jax.
Carly: I'm not going to melt down. And if I have any problems, I will go to Jason, okay? I won't come to you.
Sonny: He's -- he's busy. He's busy right now. He doesn't need to be bothered --
Carly: Busy with what?
Sonny: Doesn't --
Carly: Business or Sam?
Sonny: Does not matter.
Carly: Let me tell you something. You could do Jason and Sam and yourself a big favor if you would tell Alexis what her slime of a husband did to her daughter.
Alexis: I know how you are in relationships. You just get right in there, and then your heart breaks and then you get all hurt. Is that what you want to have happen again?
Jax: Hey, there is no such thing as love without risk, okay?
Jax: Unless, of course, you're happily married.
Alexis: Oh. Yeah. There are no guarantees to that, either. I want you to write this down.
Alexis: Life is fragile, and so is love.
Jax: That doesn't mean we should live in fear of either one.
Alexis: You know better than anyone what Carly is capable of.
Jax: Oh, yes, I do. Yeah, she gives the best back rubs --
Alexis: Oh, my God --
Alexis: I'm sick enough already.
Jax: Oh, please. Come -- my point is --
Jax: Listen, the thing that draws us to the people that we love, okay, is what makes it risky to be in a relationship with them in the first place.
Jax: When you really -- you don't know how solid anyone is until things start to get rocky.
Alexis: They can be really good in a crisis and really bad on a day-to-day basis.
Jax: Yeah. Then there are those paragons of love and trust -- like us.
Alexis: But of course.
Jax: You know, who manage to succeed at both.
Alexis: It was a marriage of convenience and it was the most functional relationship that I've ever had.
Jax: I thought that honor would go to your current spouse.
Alexis: Speaking of which -- there he is, all dressed up with somewhere to go.
Jax: Well, that makes two of us. See you later.
Alexis: I love you.
Jax: Love you, too.
Alexis: Were you able to read Kristina her bedtime story?
Ric: Yes, Kristina and Molly are both sound asleep.
Alexis: Good. Thanks. I'd like to keep things as normal for them as possible when I'm away.
Lulu: My daughter was standing there yelling at me for not wanting her, and you know what the worst part is?
Luke: You thought it was true?
Lulu: If I have this baby, it's going to grow up knowing that I didn't want it. What kind of life is that?
Luke: Wow. I can't answer for some future person. Come on, you can't make this decision based on how you think some future person might feel someday. Sweetheart, you have to make the decision based on how you feel.
Lulu: Oh. I wish it was that simple.
Dillon: It might be. Um -- I think I found a way to work this all out.
Luke: If "working this out" means browbeating her into doing what you want, forget it. You're not the husband here, young Polanski. You're just the sperm donor.
Lulu: Oh -- okay, Dad, Dad, Dad, Dad. Dillon is not entirely responsible. If anything, I'm more responsible. Don't. This is not the time to ask why.
Dillon: I need a minute alone, Luke.
Luke: She's had enough arm-twisting already.
Lulu: Dad, it's okay. I will be fine. If Tracy or Edward or any other family member is talking through you, then I'm not interested.
Dillon: This is coming strictly from me, okay? Look, what if I -- what if I told you there was a way for this child to grow up without resenting you.
Lulu: You can't control how someone else feels.
Dillon: No, I know that, I know that. But how can a baby hate you if it doesn't know who you are?
Lulu: Every child wonders where they came from. When they ask, what -- what are you planning on saying?
Dillon: That Mommy died. I would say, that -- that --
Lulu: Oh, Dillon --
Dillon: "Mommy pa--"
Lulu: Dillon. What are you -- are you serious? That's horrible!
Dillon: Is it -- is it more horrible than -- than killing the baby? Because if I have to choose between lying and killing, I'd choose lying.
Lulu: Dillon, no child should ever grow up with that kind of lie. The truth will come out eventually, and it'll start hating the both of us. Then what?
Dillon: You tell me -- what'll it take? What'll it take for you to keep this baby?
Jax: Don't you look beautiful.
Sam: Thank you.
Jax: I'm glad I won't be the only one spending the evening with Mayor Floyd.
Sam: Yeah. I -- I don't know. Going to a cocktail party with the mayor isn't exactly my idea of a good time, but, you know, I am taking Alexis' place, so -- do you know if she's still awake?
Jax: She was when I was just there, so --
Jax: Listen -- if you don't mind me asking, have you spoken to her oncologist?
Sam: Yeah. It doesn't look so good. The cancer, it has -- um -- spread to some surrounding areas. And they want to start chemotherapy, but they can't because she's still too weak from the surgery, so --
Jax: Oh, I'm sorry. I -- I had no idea. You know, despite the prognosis, she seems to be in high spirits. I'm sure that has a lot to do with you.
Sam: Yep. I am doing what I can to help.
Jax: Well, you know Alexis' primary concern are her children. It must be comforting for her to know that, you know, you're there to help Ric with Kristina and Molly in any way you can. I think if things stay that way, I think she'll recover much faster.
Sonny: The last thing Alexis needs to hear right now is that Ric and Sam slept together.
Carly: "Slept together"?
Carly: Call it like it is -- he got her sloppy-drunk and took advantage of her, and I can't believe that you're going to let him get away with it.
Sonny: But Sam believes that if Alexis finds out about that night, then, you know, she's going to push her family away and she's not going to want to survive.
Carly: You're underestimating Alexis.
Sonny: Oh, yeah?
Carly: Then again, you tend to do that with most women.
Sonny: Thank you.
Carly: Look, if Alexis finds out the kind of man that Ric really is, she's going to fight tooth and nail to stay alive to protect her daughters.
Sonny: I promised Jason and Sam that I'd keep this quiet.
Carly: Doesn't mean Ric's going to keep it quiet!
Sonny: I got Ric under control.
Carly: I think you're wrong. Ric is motivated by hate and envy, and under the right circumstances, he will turn against anyone, Sonny.
Ric: Did I tell you how brilliant our daughter is? I -- I whispered "night-night" to her, and I think she actually said it back. It was something along the lines of, like, "lu-lu."
Alexis: Uh -- please don't forget to take Kristina to the doctor on Wednesday. She has a checkup.
Ric: Viola said that she'd do it.
Alexis: No. Kristina's really scared right now. I think it would be so much better if you did it.
Ric: Yeah, well, so is Molly.
Alexis: It's not a competition. Kristina's old enough to know that there's something wrong, and I think that we just have to give her special attention about that.
[Knock on door]
Ric: Hi. You look nice.
Alexis: That dress really looks perfect on you.
Sam: Thank you both.
Ric: Well, we should -- uh -- we should get going, you know?
Sam: I'll -- I'll come by after the party?
Alexis: I'll probably be asleep. But if you want, I'd appreciate it if you could bring the girls by tomorrow. I mean, I want to hear about the party, and Kristina likes to hear all the details of grown-up parties.
Sam: Okay. Ahem. All right. Then I guess I will see you in the morning.
Alexis: Ric, will you do me a favor?
Ric: Yeah, anything.
Alexis: Make Sam your priority tonight. She's spent a lot of time at the hospital. I really want you both to have a good time.
Ric: No problem.
Dillon: You know what, Lulu? I wouldn't have slept with you if I had known you were lying all long, would I?
Lulu: Oh --
Dillon: Lulu --
Alfred: Pardon the intrusion, sir. Your suit is pressed and hanging in the wardrobe upstairs -- for the mayor's charity cocktail party?
Nikolas: Oh. Right, the benefit for the downtown revitalization project. I almost forgot. What -- what time does it start?
Alfred: Half past 7:00, sir.
Emily: Oh. Well, you -- you don't have much time. I'll get out of your way.
Nikolas: No, no, no. You care to join me? I mean, that is, if you have no other plans?
Emily: I -- uh -- I don't think my jeans are going to meet the dress code.
Nikolas: Uh --
Alfred: If I may, sir? I took the liberty, on the off chance Miss Emily might wish to attend the fundraiser, to have a cocktail dress and appropriate accessories sent over from the Quartermaines'.
Nikolas: What, you called Alice?
Alfred: She's delivering them herself. I expect her any moment.
Nikolas: Once again, I apologize for Alfred's presumptuous behavior, but I'm all out of excuses. Perhaps you'd like to offer one?
Alfred: Oh, certainly, sir.
[some of transcript missing here.]
Mayor Floyd: I'll have my secretary set up a meeting.
Mayor Floyd: How long will you be in town?
Jax: Still being negotiated.
Ric: Ah, there's mayor Floyd. I need to go say hello.
Sam: So go.
Ric: I'm sure he'd appreciate seeing you, as well.
Sam: Well, I already spoke to him before the party.
Ric: Listen, you pretty much spent the entire evening acting like you can't stand me.
Sam: I can't.
Ric: You want Alexis to find that out?
Mayor Floyd: Lansing --
Ric: Mayor Floyd -- I was on my way over to see you.
Mayor Floyd: Well, thanks. Are you enjoying the party?
Ric: Oh, yes.
Sam: Yeah. So sorry my mother couldn't make it.
Mayor Floyd: I am, too. Especially under the circumstances. Okay, Lansing, work the crowd, talk up the cause, and I expect to see both of you on the dance floor later.
Ric: We wouldn't miss it, would we?
Jax: Well, I was beginning to think that you stood me up.
Jax: Look, I know that we still have some trust issues to iron out --
Carly: Hold that thought one second. Excuse me.
Mayor Floyd: Yes?
Carly: If you want a prayer at a second term, you need to dump your interim D.A., now.
Nikolas: We should get going.
Alfred: I'll call for the launch.
Nikolas: Yeah. It's not too late to change your mind.
Emily: You mean you'd rather go alone?
Nikolas: Not at all.
Nikolas: Alfred --
Nikolas: Alfred? Alfred?
Emily: Here you go.
Nikolas: Wait -- what's -- what's wrong?
Emily: I think he's having a heart attack.
Luke: How are you holding up?
Lulu: Hmm. I'm tired of fighting.
Luke: I don't blame you, baby. I'm very disappointed in Dillon in all this.
Lulu: Well, you know, Dillon didn't expect this pregnancy any more than I did, and I know he's just trying to do what he feels is right.
Luke: All that matters is what you feel is right.
Lulu: Thank you for coming back.
Luke: There's no way I'd let you face this alone. There isn't much I can do, except try to hold back all the self-interested parties so that the decision you make is your own. So what do you think?
Lulu: I think I know what I'm going to do.
Lucky: Would you just listen to me?
Maxie: Why? So you can tell me another lie? Forget it, Lucky. If you were really going to leave your wife, you wouldn't care who saw us together.
Lucky: Come here. You know that I want to be with you.
Maxie: No, all you want is more pills.
Lucky: I'm only taking those pills to help my sister. Once Lulu's okay, I'm going to get clean, and I'm going to leave Elizabeth. Maxie, I -- I want to be with you. It's just going to take a little time.
Maxie: Well, maybe we don't have to wait that long. I mean, if Elizabeth knew you were still using, she'd end your marriage right now.
Lucky: Don't you --
Lucky: Don't you even think about it.
Maxie: Come on, Lucky. It'll be better this way, for everyone.
Lucky: Maxie, wait.
Maxie: We need to talk.
Sonny: How are you feeling?
Alexis: I'm tired.
Sonny: Is there any pain?
Alexis: Only when I breathe. Hmm.
Sonny: Um -- it's quiet. What's -- where is everybody?
Alexis: Mayor Floyd is having a self-aggrandizing cocktail party where he's renovated the buildings downtown. He's gentrified them and hopes to lower crime. So for obvious reasons, you weren't invited. Ric is there as the interim D.A., and I asked him to take Sam as his date.
Carly: Ric Lansing is a self-serving snake, and he doesn't give a damn about this city.
Mayor Floyd: Mr. Lansing's record speaks for itself.
Carly: Why don't you dig a little further? I was kidnapped in the summer of 2003. Ric Lansing locked me in a room, chained me to a wall while I was pregnant. He's a twisted freak. He will use his position to push his own agenda. The fact that that man can walk into a courtroom without being shackled to a table is a crime in itself.
Mayor Floyd: If there had been any charges filed, I would have seen them. And in their absence, it's your word against his. You are a gangster's ex-wife, and Mr. Lansing happens to be a very competent D.A. Who do you think I'm going to be inclined to believe? Mr. Jacks --
Jax: I think the lady deserves an apology.
Mayor Floyd: Um -- Mr. Jacks, really, I'm sorry --
Jax: May I remind you that my contributions can remove you from office as easily as they put you there.
Mayor Floyd: I apologize if there was any misunderstanding. Excuse me.
Carly: Thank you for the rescue, but I had everything under control.
Jax: Oh, I wasn't protecting you. I've seen your hook.
Carly: I need to take care of something.
Jax: No, you need to take care of this.
Ric: You are making your mother look bad, which consequently makes me look even worse.
Sam: Oh -- you're doing a fine job of that on your own.
Ric: We promised the mayor a dance. One dance, and we leave.
Sam: There is no way in hell I will dance --
Ric: You want to lose the attitude, sweetheart? You know, I was there. You wanted it as much as I did.
Sam: Don't ever touch me again.
>> On the next "General Hospital" --
Elizabeth: I'm not interested in anything you have to say.
Maxie: You think you know everything -- maybe you don't.
Sonny: You put those two together and you're getting a lot more than you bargained for.
Ric: It's going to be a long way to help Alexis recovering from her cancer.
Sam: I mean it, Ric.
Lulu: I've made my decision.
Dillon: What are you going to do?
