Kelly: Dr. Drake, I'm glad I ran into you.
Patrick: Oh? Why is that?
Kelly: I have a burning question only you can answer.
Kelly: Are you exclusive with Dr. Scorpio, or can anyone join you in the supply closet?
Patrick: Well, I find that interesting on a couple levels. A, I was under the impression you and Robin were friends. B, maybe that's just it. You throw out the bait, and if I bite, you bring it back to Robin.
Kelly: You may be overthinking it. Or maybe you hit it on target and I was testing the waters.
Patrick: Maybe I'm busy at the moment.
Kelly: Well, whether you know it or not, you're halfway to thinking of Robin as your girlfriend.
Robin: There you are, Dr. Drake. I've been looking all over for you. Of course, I didn't think to look in pediatrics because normally, you wouldn't come anywhere near this floor.
Helena: Oh, but we have to do something about that dreadfully common American name "John." Oh, it's so puny. Puny, puny, puny. Now, what would you prefer, my precious little man? Would you like Dimitry? No? How about something more heroic -- Alexander?
Colleen: Go, go, go, go.
Helena: Shh, shh, shh.
Nikolas: Ok, I'm going in to check on John, then I'll be out for a while. If you need me, I'll be at the Haunted Star.
Alfred: Very well, sir.
Nikolas: Thank you.
Colleen: Ooh. Hi.
Jax: Hey, mom. It's me. My plane leaves in a few hours, then I'll -- I'll be in Botswana tomorrow morning. So I'll call you from the airport. You have any idea where Jerry was last seen? No, no, that's fine. No, I'll deal with it when I get there. You just stay put at the hotel, ok? I'm really looking forward to seeing you. Yeah, I'm ok, I'm ok. Just a few regrets, but I -- I believe that I made the right -- the right choice.
[Knock on door]
Jax: Ok. All right, love you, too. I got to go. Bye.
Jax: Don't say I didn't warn you -- this isn't going to work.
Luke: Well. Look what the North wind blew in.
Sonny: How you doing?
Luke: What'll you have, man? It's on the house, of course.
Sonny: You have scotch -- that's great.
Luke: Scotch it'll be.
Sonny: Yeah. Ok.
Luke: So you doing ok? Word on the street is you've taken a couple of hits.
Sonny: Yeah, I'm good. I'm good.
Luke: Really, you're good?
Luke: Hmm. I've never found anything good about being betrayed by somebody I trusted.
Patrick: About that consult you mentioned -- when you're ready to get into it, vibrate my beeper.
Robin: "Vibrate my beeper"? You can't be serious.
Kelly: Unfortunately, Patrick isn't serious. In fact, he just made it very clear he's in a committed relationship with you.
Patrick: I didn't say anything like that.
Kelly: You two have a nice night.
Robin: Well, I am fascinated. Tell me more about this supposed commitment that we have.
Carly: What's taking you so long?
Jax: Well, you've given me a lot to live up to. I want to look like I belong on your lovely arm.
Carly: Hurry up. I have a special night planned for us.
Jax: It's really nice that you're doing this for me, but don't harbor any false illusions, ok? I've made up my mind.
Carly: Yeah, I know -- you have to get away for a while. I just want to make sure you realize what you have to come back to. You know what they say -- you don't realize what you've got 'til it's gone. Wow.
Emily: Epiphany? Have you seen Lainey, by any chance?
Epiphany: I know she took a personal day, and she might be gone tomorrow, too.
Emily: Really? Ok, that -- that's not good. Um -- is she in town? Do you know if she's retrieving messages?
Epiphany: I couldn't say. I really couldn't say. Maybe you should call her assistant and make an appointment.
Emily: Ok. Thank you.
Epiphany: Oh, by the way --
Epiphany: This came for you.
Emily: "Haunted star, 8:00 P.M."
Epiphany: Looks like somebody just made an appointment with you, too.
Sonny: I have a business proposal for you.
Luke: What kind of business?
Sonny: Well, actually, it's more pleasure than anything else. I want a nice night out with my lady, and I need your casino.
Luke: You want to rent the joint tonight?
Sonny: I'll pay you whatever you make on a night and 20% extra. I want the best champagne; caviar. I want a red carpet from the dock to the door.
Luke: You want Joan and Melissa "what's-their-names" out there and a bunch of paparazzi, huh?
Sonny: No, I -- I hadn't really thought of that, but I'll get Max on it. But another thing -- Emily -- I want her to win every so often, so if you can rig the tables -- her favorite is Blackjack and Roulette.
Luke: Oh, yeah, sure, we can do that. That's no problem. I got to say, you're awful cheerful for a guy who just lost his shirt.
Sonny: What are you going to do?
Luke: You're going to get it back. Isn't that why you're here -- setting up a nice, tidy little alibi? You and Emily gambling the night away, while your people make a move on Jason and his crew?
Sonny: Never occurred to me.
Luke: God, I got to get some hip-waders --
Sonny: No, no, no, no, I'm not kidding. I'm not kidding.
Luke: Sonny, you know I'd be happy to help you with whatever your plan is, as long as this joint doesn't get shot up.
Sonny: I know you -- you know, you like it when I'm in charge because it makes things easier for you.
Luke: You're damn right I like it when you're in charge. It does me good to have somebody I know have clout.
Sonny: I'm sorry to disappoint you, but tonight is nothing but making Emily happy. And as far as the organization, I'm done.
Luke: I'm starting to believe you really think you mean that.
Sonny: Sometimes I think about that night outside your blues club -- the night Lily died -- and I wonder to myself, what took me so long to get out?
Colleen: Um -- may I offer an observation?
Nikolas: Please do.
Colleen: Love taps don't help a baby burp.
Nikolas: Yeah, I just -- I don't want to hurt him.
Colleen: Well, John isn't as fragile as you think. Let me show you.
Nikolas: All right.
Nikolas: Just --
Colleen: Huh? Now you try.
Nikolas: All right. Come here.
Nikolas: You did it.
Nikolas: Well, I guess I learned my lesson from you. Thank you very much. Thank you very much. Here you go, buddy.
Nikolas: I'm -- I'm hoping I get better at this with time.
Colleen: Oh, you're doing fine. Actually, it's quite endearing how earnest you are.
Nikolas: I want to be the best possible father I can to this little guy. He needs to know how much his mother and I wanted him. What about you? How are you? Are you settling in okay?
Colleen: It's an adjustment.
Colleen: This house is so --
Nikolas: Wait, wait -- big, creepy, gloomy, cold -- all of the above?
Nikolas: It's ok.
Colleen: It's hard to believe you rattle around in here alone.
Nikolas: Yeah, I know. I got used to it.
Colleen: Do you have family in Port Charles?
Nikolas: I do, yes. I have a brother and a sister. You'll get to meet them -- they're great. Lucky is a policeman here, and Lulu just graduated from high school.
Nikolas: As for the other side -- my father's side -- with the exception of my aunt Alexis and her three children, they're all psychotic.
Colleen: You're exaggerating, I hope.
Nikolas: Sadly, no, I am not. And I'm actually glad that this came up because there's -- there's some things that you need to know. Jax and Carly aren't the only people denied access to my son. My grandmother, Helena Cassadine, is never, never to be allowed anywhere near him. And trust me, she will try. She's unaccounted for at the moment, but as soon as she finds out that John is my son, she'll resurface here.
Colleen: So I'm hearing your grandmother isn't some sweet little old lady?
Nikolas: No, no. Helena is about as far from that as you can get. She's immoral, controlling. And you can't ever forget this -- she's dangerous, especially to John. Listen, sit down for a minute. I want to give you the edited version of sort of what goes on around here. Ok. The Cassadines come from Russian nobility. I am a prince, therefore, my heir, John, is also a prince. When he comes of age -- or in the event of my death -- he will come into a legacy of enormous wealth and power, and my grandmother is desperate to control that. So if you see her lurking around here anywhere, you call the guards, you grab John, and you run away as fast as you can.
Colleen: You're scaring me.
Nikolas: Yeah, well, probably rightfully so. As I said, my grandmother will do anything to control the long-awaited Cassadine heir. But we're evenly matched, she and I. Because there's nothing in this world that I wouldn't do to keep my son away from her.
Luke: So you're really doing it, what so many -- so many people I know have tried and could never do? You're walking away, huh? Still breathing, no regrets?
Sonny: The life I'm getting in return is worth anything I'm giving up, you know? But people don't understand that; they don't accept that, so, I wouldn't mind --
Luke: Hey, you underestimate me. I do understand. Nobody understands better than me. You and I have lived pretty much the same life, you know? I've been where you were, where you are, and I maybe even been where you're going; I don't know. But I do know that the business and a personal life -- they don't mix. And an operation like yours requires too much; too much of what you need to keep that other part of your life alive. I know that.
Sonny: It didn't work with Carly, but Emily's different.
Luke: Well, Emily's your angel. Yeah, your angel. I hope you get what you want. And I hope Emily doesn't pay the price. You see, the problem with angels getting involved with people like you and me is they always get their wings broken. They always suffer.
Sonny: I'm going to try to pull it off. I'm going to -- I mean, I know you're right. I should go to Jason, take him down, and kill him, but once you've played God for so long, sometimes it -- sometimes fate bites you, and I've been bitten too long. I've lost too much. I've got to find a new way to live, Luke.
Luke: I hear that. I mean, I don't know anything about God. And I think that "fate-biting-you" thing is just an excuse. I think you bit yourself. I think the choices you made bit you. But, hey, I don't know. I know something about having power and money and then not having it anymore. Yep, and I know about starting over. And I've always said it's a lot better to walk out the wrong door than to stay there and rot and wonder. So, good luck to you, pal. Good luck to you.
Robin: Wow. You really went all out. I guess you must be pretty serious about this commitment.
Patrick: Why don't you drop that word from your vocabulary; unless, of course, you want to eat alone?
Patrick: Our table's over there.
Carly: This is going to be a perfect night -- I can tell.
Jax: Well, we're off to a good start. You didn't storm Robin's table. I'm impressed.
Carly: I want to impress you, Jax.
Robin: Carly's probably trying to jump through hoops right now to hold on to Jax.
Patrick: And we're off.
Jax: You know, you are the best surprise I never saw coming.
Carly: Not past tense -- I'm sitting right here.
Jax: I'm just telling you I'm going to miss you.
Carly: I don't want to talk about losing you, ok? I just -- I don't want to. I want to be here in the moment and enjoy each other, and who knows? Maybe you'll change your mind and you'll decide to stay.
Jax: Oh, I -- I have something for you.
Carly: A surprise for me? Maybe it's a plane ticket?
Jax: Take a look.
Carly: Power of attorney.
Jax: Yeah. It gives you full control of this hotel.
Patrick: Not to get existential on you, but do you ever feel alone in a crowded room sitting opposite someone at a table?
Robin: You know what? She didn't even come over here. That's proof that she's up to something. Carly would never pass up an opportunity to come over here and get in my face, so she must be focusing all of her energy on Jax right now.
Patrick: Are you ready to order?
Robin: He just handed her something. Oh, my God. You don't think he's actually thinking about marrying her, do you?
Patrick: You know what? Carly's a beautiful woman. Wild, sexy hair -- a man could lose reason.
Robin: You know what? I should do the honors this time. I should get up, walk over there, and start a fight.
Patrick: Why would you want to do that?
Robin: Because then she wouldn't be able to keep up her "Miss Nicey-Nice" routine and Jax could see her for the woman that she really is.
Patrick: I can't believe it's taken me this long to get this.
Robin: Get what?
Patrick: You are exactly like Carly. In fact, you are Carly.
Jax: I -- I thought you'd be happy. I mean, you always wanted control of the hotel.
Carly: No. I mean -- in the beginning, but we worked together. It's the most fun I've ever had. We are together. What are you doing? I mean, giving me this power of attorney, it -- when are you coming back? You're not coming back. Oh, my God.
Jax: I don't -- I don't know. But I know that it's best for everyone.
Carly: It's not best for me.
Jax: Look, this situation with Nikolas is not going to get any better, ok? It's only going to get worse. If I stay here, I'll want to see John. And Nikolas -- he's not going to stand for that. He's going to dig his heels in even deeper, and I don't want to be the cause of this vicious cycle, ok? If I'm gone, then Nikolas is going to let you be a part of John's life, and that's the truth. That -- that's the truth of it.
Carly: Don't sit here and tell me you're doing this for me. You're giving up, and you're leaving.
Jax: Carly --
Carly: Stay the hell away from me!
Emily: Where is everybody?
Nikolas: I don't know. I just -- I just arrived myself.
Emily: Oh. Well, shouldn't there be more paying customers or --
Nikolas: The bartender mentioned that it was a private party.
Emily: Oh. Are you invited, too?
Nikolas: No, no, I'm actually just here to see Luke.
Nikolas: Obviously, you were invited.
Emily: Yeah. I assumed my invitation was from Sonny, but --
Nikolas: Well, that would be a safe guess. It wouldn't surprise me if he rented out the whole house just to impress you.
Emily: Yeah, sounds like Sonny.
Nikolas: Yes, it does. Well, I'd rather not be here when he arrives. So if you see Luke, just tell him he can reach me at home, ok?
Emily: Ok. Sure.
Nikolas: Ok. Oh, before I go -- as co-owner of this establishment -- however reluctant -- I present $50 in chips to the Quartermaine heiress to share with her even-more-loaded boyfriend. Here you go.
Emily: Thank you.
Nikolas: Have fun, ok?
Sonny: Get away from her.
Emily: Sonny, don't.
[Knock on door]
Robin: Thanks. Spend enough time at the bar?
Patrick: Depends. Is the next word out of your mouth going to be about Carly?
Robin: Yes. You just accused me of being exactly like her. Now, is that because of something that happened tonight, or are you convinced that I blurted out the truth because I just like to stir up trouble?
Patrick: Your compulsive need to right everybody else's wrong, whether you're involved or not, says something about your psychology.
Robin: Skip to the part where I am exactly like Carly.
Patrick: I just said that to get your attention. You create your own drama.
Robin: Such as?
Patrick: You sure you can take it?
Robin: I just asked you, didn't I?
Patrick: Ok. You get into everybody else's problems. You run around blaming everything on everybody else, testing people.
Robin: "Testing people"?
Patrick: You set standards that no one could possibly live up to, which is exactly what you intend. Therefore, when you're inevitably disappointed, you not only let yourself off the hook but you're proven right. Justification for not taking any chances. And if that doesn't work, you always have the HIV to fall back on.
Robin: Wow. You see right through me. Give yourself a smiley face for the day.
Carly: You never said you loved me.
Jax: You never said it, either.
Carly: If I did, would you stay?
Jax: If I did, would you trust it enough to let me go?
Carly: I shouldn't have to. When things get tough, you stay and you fight.
Jax: Sometimes you need to leave so you can understand why you have to come back.
Carly: I can show you.
Singer: Did you mean to take your coat off?/ You just stand in my doorway/ I fight to keep my temper/ try to figure what to say/ please believe me/ tell me you'll still fight on/ please believe me that chances are you'll lose yourself/ lose yourself to someone else who made that mistake and I am sorry/ from the time it takes to give it back somewhere/ I don't know if I can stay anymore/ You found courage to let your heart through and I don't want to let you down/ it's a little late to give to/
Sonny: You're not with Emily anymore. You threw her out like trash. You can't just get her back.
Nikolas: Put the bottle down --
Sonny: I should probably cut your throat is what I should do.
Nikolas: Get the hell away from me.
Emily: Sonny, for God sakes --
Sonny: Shh. Don't you ever --
Emily: I need help over here!
Sonny: Wait a minute! Don't you ever put your hands on her again. You understand what I'm saying?
Max: Boss, boss, boss, that is enough. Let it go. Let it go.
Nikolas: You know what, Sonny? You need to be committed.
Nikolas: You are insane.
Sonny: What did you say?
Nikolas: I said you're insane.
Emily: Nikolas, please don't provoke him.
Sonny: Oh, you're going to take his side now, Emily?
Emily: Max, I need you to take him home.
Max: Come on, Boss, let's go.
Sonny: You're not coming with me? Ok. Let's go. Let's go. That's fine.
Emily: What -- what are you doing?
Nikolas: I'm calling the police. I want that psycho arrested.
Emily: No, no, no. I'm not going to let you do that.
Patrick: You ok?
Robin: I don't know why you care. I'm such a horrible person.
Patrick: That's not what I meant.
Robin: You know what? Don't try and tell me what you meant. Because you're right. I am a judgmental, rule-setting coward. And you, Dr. Hottie, are a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity with devastating good looks and awe-inspiring talent. Quite frankly, I don't even understand why you would hang out with such a loser like myself.
Patrick: You're not a loser.
Robin: According to your analysis, I am. You know, you've already got what you wanted. I don't understand why you're sticking around. It's not as though you like me.
Patrick: Don't tell me what I like.
Nikolas: You tell me why I shouldn't call the police right now. Sonny could've killed me or whoever else was standing next to you.
Emily: You don't understand.
Nikolas: No -- oh, no, no, I understand, Emily. Sonny is an animal who needs to be locked up behind bars.
Emily: It's not Sonny's fault.
Nikolas: "It's not --" are -- are you seriously going to make excuses for what just happened here?
Emily: I'm trying to explain. Sonny has a medical condition; it's a chemical imbalance.
Emily: I've been talking to Lainey! I'm working on getting Sonny treatment. This is terrible and I'm so sorry that you were involved, but --
Nikolas: I'm not -- I'm not worried about me, Emily. You tell me -- what if he flips out on you like that one day, huh?
Emily: He won't.
Nikolas: He won't?
Emily: Sonny would never hurt me.
Nikolas: Right, he won't, he won't, he won't. You don't know that! There isn't a rationalization in this world that can convince me that you're safe with that maniac. Give me the phone. I'm calling the police!
Emily: No, no, no, please, Nikolas, I'm begging you! I get that you're scared for me. I know it looks like a volatile situation -- it is -- but Sonny poses no danger to me. If you trust me at all, if you believe anything that I've learned from the past two years, then you will stay out of this and let me handle it. Nikolas, look at me. You owe me this.
Nikolas: You got to swear to me that if he ever hits you, threatens you, or even looks like he will, you'll run away, and you call me.
Emily: It won't come to that.
Nikolas: Swear -- swear it, Emily, or I call Lucky right now. Swear it.
Emily: Ok, I swear. But I know Sonny better than I've known anyone -- he won't hurt me.
Nikolas: Huh. "Better than you've known anyone"? You better be damn sure of that.
Sonny: What were you thinking pulling me off Nikolas?
Max: I was protecting you.
Sonny: You should kill him!
Sonny: He had his hands all over Emily.
Max: Boss, you have to stand back and cool down --
Sonny: I want that son of a bitch dead!
Max: Boss, you have to look at this from the outside. There were witnesses. A bunch of casino workers saw you go after Nikolas. They don't know why. All they know is you walked in and you attacked him for no reason --
Sonny: I don't want to hear any excuses! I want Cassadine taken out!
Max: Boss --
Sonny: Make it happen! Go, now!
Max: Boss, if --
Max: If Nikolas suddenly turns up dead, the cops are going to come looking at you first.
Sonny: You calling Jason, Max?
Patrick: If I didn't like you, would I put up with your incessant self-righteousness? Your brain-numbing sermons? Would I have dragged my butt to the Markham islands to end up with a sprained wrist and be bounty hunted? Speaking of your father, would I put up with his interrogations about my intentions towards you?
Patrick: Mm-hmm. Or how about the flip-flopping between wanting to insult me and tattooing my name places unmentionable? No, I wouldn't. That pretty much says how much I like you -- when you get out of your way and become a likable person. When we're lying in bed and you let down your walls, I look at you and think --
Robin: Think what?
Patrick: I really, really like having sex with you.
Nikolas: I'm not quite sure of myself yet. I'm afraid that I'm going to drop you every time, or cause irreparable harm if I just burp you the wrong way or something. That's like -- but you -- come up here. Whoa -- are definitely a miracle to me. Just being able to hold you like this makes all the ugliness in the world go away. Hmm? Yeah. Look at you. Hey. Hey, hey. You're perfect, you know that? You're just perfect. I mean, I have to be the luckiest man in the entire world. Because I get to spend every day --
Nikolas: I know -- every day of my life calling you my son. And that is an honor that I will try to deserve every day. Thank you.
Sonny: Who told you it was part of your job description to go tattle-taling to Jason like I'm some 4-year-old kid?
Max: Then what am I supposed to do? Boss, I'm afraid for you. You seriously just ordered me to kill Nikolas Cassadine.
Sonny: And I meant it.
Emily: Oh, my God --
Max: Well, I'm sorry for saying it, but that is the worst idea I've ever heard. Killing Nikolas is going to start a whole new kind of war. The Cassadines have connections every bit as lethal as ours. You don't need this trouble. Neither does Emily.
Sonny: Fine! Don't kill him. I don't care. And don't call Jason. Don't do anything.
Emily: Is everything all right?
Max: Yeah, it's fine, right, Boss?
Sonny: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Emily: I spoke to Nikolas, and he agreed not to press charges.
Sonny: In exchange for what?
Emily: I'm sorry?
Sonny: "I'm sorry"? Don't stand there and pretend you don't know what Nikolas wants! Did you give it to him?
Emily: You're going to have to stop this! I can't take it anymore! I can't! I'm sorry.
Sonny: God, I don't know -- okay, I --
Emily: What? Sonny --
Sonny: I'm sorry --
Sonny: I got to -- I got to go.
Emily: Ok. Oh, God.
Jax: I love you.
Carly: I love you, too.
>> On the next "General Hospital" --
Sam: Jason threw me out of his apartment last night. I was hoping you could help me.
Carly: Jason, I need to talk to you. Please don't turn your back on me this time, okay?
Alexis: What do you know about Justus Ward's murder?
Edward: Why is my grandson dead?
Sonny: Jason's dead?
