Alfred: You seem quite absorbed by what you're reading, sir.

Nikolas: I'm taking a crash course in fatherhood. Listen to this -- "Babies nurse eagerly because they're hungry."

Alfred: Hmm.

Nikolas: Got to remember that.

Alfred: Lesson one -- a baby is not old enough to play catch.

Nikolas: I'm nervous.

Alfred: With good reason, but don't despair, sir. I'm sure you'll make a fine father -- in time.

Nikolas: We don't have time, Alfred. My son comes home today.

Alfred: Hmm.

Carly: How's he doing, huh? How'd you guys do last night?

Jax: Well, he slept a lot better than I did. Actually, I didn't sleep. I stayed up all night and watched him and just reflected back on all the times that we -- all the times we spent together as father and son. Still, I can't quite believe that this is ending. It's going to be a tough day.

Carly: I know. That's why I'm here -- I want to help you pack up John's things.

Sam: Alexis worked you, and you played right into her hands, Jason.

Jason: That's not -- that's not what happened.

Sam: The two of you have always been on opposite sides and here you are, handing me to her on a silver platter.

Jason: I want you safe.

Sam: And Alexis convinced you that keeping me safe meant shutting me out of your life. She was wrong, Jason, and so are you.

Emily: Hey. What do you think?

[Emily giggles]

Sonny: Take that off now!

Emily: What's wrong? I -- I love this dress.

Sonny: You got to take it off!

Emily: What? Sonny, no!

Sonny: Take it off!

Emily: Oh, my god!

Sonny: Take it off!

[Emily screams]

Emily: Sonny, what are you doing?

Sonny: I'm sorry. You ok?

Emily: Yeah.

Sonny: Huh? I didn't want -- I'm sorry. I'm so sorry.

Emily: Ok. Here.

Sonny: I'm so sorry.

Emily: Don't worry. It's going to be all right.

Sonny: Oh.

Emily: Oh, my god.

Jax: We have to bring these. And Eli -- Eli the elephant. You know, he's the first stuffed animal that I bought for you, John. It was before you were even born. I wasn't sure if you were going to be a boy or a girl. But I knew that I would love you with all my heart, even if you weren't my own.

Carly: You know, these are almost too small for him. Probably grow out of them on the way to Wyndemere.

Jax: No, just pack them up anyway. I just -- I'd rather it was gone, you know? It'll only make me miss John more if I hang on to this stuff.

Carly: Are you sure?

Jax: Yeah, I am sure. You know, it's amazing how quickly a child can just take over your life. I've never really been lonely before, but, well, I mean, I look at John now and I just can't imagine what life would be like without him. I got some boxes in the -- in the bedroom. I'll go get them.

Carly: Look at you, smiling. You are the happiest baby -- do you know that? How can you do anything but smile back? There's going to be plenty of time to be sad when you're gone. Losing you is going to change everything.

Sam: After the operation, Alexis moved me to another hospital so you couldn't be with me. But you -- you came to find me, right?

Jason: Yeah.

Sam: Yeah. If she were to take me away now, you wouldn't?

Jason: No.

Sam: She got to you, Jason.

Jason: I would never give you up because Alexis asked me to. She's not the reason we have to be over -- I am.

Sam: I've always accepted your life.

Jason: Sam, I can't explain the feeling I had watching you almost die. It's like nothing I've ever felt, and it was because of me. I want to keep you alive. I would be afraid for you all the time -- I wouldn't even be able to think straight. I wouldn't be able to do my job and that would be dangerous to both of us.

Sam: Fine. Fine, I'm alone. I live here now at Kelly's. What are you going to do if I find someone else?

Sam: What are you going to do if I really move on, Jason? What are you going to do if I am walking down the street with another guy and I'm holding his hand and I'm talking and I'm -- and I'm laughing? Huh? How -- how is that going to make you feel?

Jason: I hate the idea of you with someone else. I hate it. But this is my fault and I'm going to have to get over it. I hope whoever you end up with, you're happy and you have the best of everything.

Sam: I had you. No one -- no one's going to come close to that.

Jason: You can't see it now, but one day you're going to look back and be glad I did this.

Justus: You know, you should be grateful to Jason. If not for him, I'd still be stuck in that monastery instead of here with you.

Lainey: Monk or mob attorney? There were absolutely no options in between?

Justus: Oh, no, no, no. Believe me, there were several. None of them had just worked out, that's all.

Lainey: Why not? You're smart, you're talented, you're responsible. There are so many things that are open to you.

Justus: Oh, goodness, you sound --

Lainey: There are so many options you could explore.

Justus: You sound just like Grandfather right now, you know that?

Lainey: Ouch.

Justus: You know, me and -- me and Jason are very similar. We could've used the Quartermaine name to get us what we wanted, but instead we decided to do things our own way.

Lainey: Why don't we talk about this more at dinner tonight -- my place, 7:00.

Justus: In the interest of a psychological study?

Lainey: No, my interest is purely personal. Somebody's got to take the first step -- and before you even ask, I don't live on the 29th floor, I'm not 29, and I don't have 29 fingers and toes.

Justus: I'll bring the wine.

Jason: Uh -- sorry. I need to talk to you.

Lainey: 7:00?

Justus: You got it.

Justus: What's going on?

Jason: There may be a problem with Sonny.

Emily: How are you feeling?

Sonny: Um -- hey, I apologize. I'm sor-- what I did was unforgivable.

Emily: No. I'm all right.

Sonny: I know that you were raped. I'm the man you trust, the man you love. To come at you -- did I hurt you? Did I hurt you?

Emily: No. Sonny? Listen --

Sonny: Tell me, did I hurt you?

Emily: Listen, the person that I'm afraid for is you.

Sonny: Oh, no, I'm past it now.

Emily: You had no idea what you were doing. Ok? You seemed frantic, even terrified, the minute you saw me. What was it about that dress that got you so upset?

Sonny: Well, I mean, you look -- you look so beautiful, right, and you were so peaceful in the dress. It almost looked like you were, like, almost a bride. And for a split second, it was like, I don't know, you were wearing the dress for somebody else.

Emily: Ok, for who?

Sonny: Nikolas.

Alfred: Candidate number one for the nanny position, sir.

Nikolas: Hello -- "Rosemary Fitzgibbons."

Rosemary: Mrs. Fitzgibbons.

Nikolas: I apologize, Mrs.. Rosemary Fitzgibbons. Uh -- what would you consider the most important thing a child needs?

Mrs. Fitzgibbons: Well, discipline. Children need the three Rs -- rules, routine, and a regimen. I won't be raising a crybaby, I can tell you that.

[Music plays]

Woman: A baby needs a spotless environment. Germs are everywhere, on everything -- and everyone.

Singer: You can look and look for 100 years

Woman: Babies need their parents -- which is great because one of my boyfriends totally manages this dance club, and I'm hoping I can get the evenings off.

Singer: Cinderella

Woman: Brussels sprouts, cod liver oil, and fresh air all night, even in winter.

Second woman: The boy must not even see you for the first week so that he and I can form a lasting bond.

Nikolas: Wow.

[Music stops]

Alfred: One remaining candidate, sir.

Nikolas: Let's just get it over with, call another agency.

Alfred: Next, please.

[Nikolas sighs]

Nikolas: Hello. And you are?

Woman: Colleen McHenry, sir.

Nikolas: Colleen. Ok, so, I'm going to ask you the same question that I asked everyone else. In your opinion, what is the most important thing a child needs?

Colleen: To know that he or she is loved and accepted. If the child has that, all the rest will follow.

Jax: That's the last of it.

Carly: You ok?

Jax: Yeah. Yeah, I'm good. I don't really have much choice, do I?

Carly: Yeah, why don't you -- you and Norma take some stuff down to the car. I'll get John ready, ok?

Jax: You know, he's not even going to remember that this was his first home.

Carly: No. I think somehow he's going to remember that he was loved. I believe that.

Carly: Oh. How could someone as small as you leave such a big hole, huh? You know, I just can't help but wonder. If it weren't for me helping Jax keep that secret, would Robin have felt so compelled to tell Nikolas the truth? I guess we'll never know. Robin's going to know. She's going to know heartache. I promise you, John. She's going to pay for what she did. I am going to trash her life, if it's the last thing I ever do.

Jason: Sonny's talking about turning the coffee warehouse into a real business.

Justus: That place is a front. You guys haven't run coffee out of there for years.

Jason: I know -- I know that. But he asked me to sign it over to him and I agreed. I think he needs something to focus on right now and I hope it works out.

Justus: So what do you want from me, Jason?

Jason: I want you to keep an eye on Sonny. He's letting Ric get too close, and Sonny is vulnerable right now and you know Ric cannot be trusted.

Justus: You want me to spy on Sonny?

Jason: No, no. I'm asking you to help me protect him. Because I can't -- I can't be everywhere. And I am going to be relying on you more and more.

Justus: All right.

Jason: Thanks.

[Phone rings]

Justus: Justus Ward.

Man: This is Jason Morgan's attorney, right?

Justus: Who is this?

Man: I'm calling for Lorenzo Alcazar. He wants a meeting.

Justus: And where would Mr. Alcazar like to have this meeting with Mr. Morgan?

Alexis: Sam, can we please talk?

Sam: Talk all you want. What you did -- it's -- it's unforgivable.

Alexis: I know you're mad and I don't blame you. I just want you to know that I am not going anywhere. I'm here for you. We are still family.

Sam: That's fine. It doesn't mean I have to take you into my life.

Alexis: No. I just hope that you don't forget about Kristina. She misses --

Sam: Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me? You cannot take a breath without manipulating somebody. Great example to set as a mother.

Emily: Ok, sit down. I was wearing a dress that you gave me. Why would you even think of me and Nikolas?

Sonny: Did you hear that Nikolas is the father of Courtney's baby?

Emily: Yeah. I ran into him in the park and he told me.

Sonny: Oh, really? Why didn't you tell me that you talked to him?

Emily: I only found out yesterday, and your moods have been unpredictable. I wasn't sure how you were going to react.

Sonny: Oh. Oh.

Emily: Jax kept the secret, Carly was a big --

Sonny: And Nikolas, your ex-husband, is the father. A single man living by himself with no experience raising a family. He has no children. The son is going to need a mother, and you are the obvious choice.

Nikolas: Welcome home, John.

Colleen: He's beautiful, Mr. Cassadine.

Nikolas: Yeah.

Carly: Who are you?

Nikolas: Oh, this is Colleen, John's new nanny.

Carly: John already has a nanny.

Jax: Yeah, Norma's prepared to -- to stay on.

Nikolas: Oh, that's very generous of you, but I feel more comfortable with providing John with my own choice of care, thank you.

Carly: What about John's comfort? Norma's been his nanny since he came home from the hospital.

Nikolas: Ok, well, I'd be happy to allow Norma to stay on for -- for a few days to help Colleen with the transition. Alfred, could you show Norma and Colleen to the nursery, please?

Alfred: Of course, sir.

Nikolas: Thank you.

Carly: I'd like to see it, too.

Nikolas: No, I'd rather you stay here.

Carly: You can't take a baby away from everything and everyone he knows and plunk him down in new surroundings with a bunch of strangers, Nikolas. You can't do that.

Nikolas: I'm not -- I'm not a stranger, Carly, I'm his father. And I'd like my son now.

Carly: No.

Sam: You're fighting dirty. You know my weakness is the family I never had.

Alexis: We all need family, Sam.

Sam: Please, just stop, ok? Because now you're using Kristina to get to me, the same way you used Jason's love to -- to tear him away from me.

Alexis: I didn't make Jason do anything.

Sam: Yes, you did. You blamed him for getting me shot. You hammered away at guilt--

Alexis: Sam, nobody can tell Jason what to do. Nobody, especially me, and I think that you know that. I think that you need somebody to blame, and if it's me, fine. I can take it.

Sam: Listen to you. Nothing is ever your fault, according to you.

Alexis: Sure it is. Look, if -- if you don't mind, I would appreciate it if you gave Kristina --

Sam: Please, don't bring Kristina into this. She happens to be a wonderful little girl, despite having you for a mother.

Alexis: She does care about you and she asked about you, for the record.

Sam: Well, then could you please send her my love?

Alexis: I will. You know, you underestimate the impact that you have on people. You always said that you wanted a family. Did you ever consider the fact that this family may want you?

Sam: I have to go unpack.

Alexis: I just want you to know that I will always be there for you, Sam. You always have a home, anytime. Whenever you're ready.

Justus: Mr. Morgan agrees to meet Mr. Alcazar. When and where? Half an hour? The old grain warehouse. First door on the right. He'll be there. Jason, why?

Jason: Alcazar's back in business.

Justus: How do you know this?

Jason: I saw him at the PCPD getting Diego released. It goes along with what -- what Skye told you. Alcazar must have cut a deal in exchange for Diego's freedom. He must have agreed to get back in the arms business.

Justus: So what's the purpose of the meeting? Is Alcazar hoping for a truce?

Jason: Well, he can hope all he wants. It's not going to happen.

Justus: Sonny was more flexible.

Jason: I'm not.

Justus: Sonny had you to be his enforcer. Who do you have? You can't do this alone, Jason.

Emily: I'm not going back to Nikolas.

Sonny: No? You didn't consider it when -- when Nikolas told you that John was -- was his son?

Emily: Of course not.

Sonny: Why didn't you tell me that you saw Nikolas?

Emily: I probably should have. Especially since John is your sister's child. But there's just so much baggage attached. And Carly was instrumental in keeping this secret, and I thought it might upset you, so I just --

Sonny: So if Nikolas said to you, "Hey, you know what? Why don't you come over and just spend a little time with me, and -- and, you know, my son?", you wouldn't care? You wouldn't do anything, right?

Emily: I will always care about Nikolas. And I'm happy that he has a son. I wish him well. And that's the end of it.

Sonny: Ok. If you say so.

Emily: I have no intentions of being the mother of that child. Nikolas is not the man that I want to be with. You are.

Sonny: You -- you want to be with the man who did this to you?

Emily: Yes.

Sonny: Why?

Emily: Because I love you.

Emily: Come here.

Carly: I know that you are angry with me and Jax, but don't take it out on Little John. Don't hurt him.

Nikolas: I'm not -- I'm not taking it out on John.

Carly: He needs his nanny. You need to let her stay. He needs me, and he needs Jax, too.

Nikolas: Well, the two of you are still trying to hang on after everything you've done?

Carly: No, just don't take him away from everything that is familiar. Let him have some kind of semblance of a schedule. Like faces, touch, routine.

Nikolas: Carly, he's a child. He'll never remember either one of you. If you really want to do what's best for John, just walk away and have a clean break. Ok? Don't confuse him as to who his caregivers are going to be.

Carly: You're so vindictive, aren't you?

Nikolas: Vindictive? Hey, Carly, if I wanted revenge, I'd have you both arrested for kidnapping. That's --

Jax: Come on, Carly, there's no point in dragging this out. Ok?

Carly: No, this is wrong. It's wrong.

Jax: What's done is done. Thank you for giving me the best months of my life.

Carly: I love you, Little John. And I know that you're going to remember that somehow.

Jax: Goodbye, John.

Nikolas: Hey, buddy. Thank you.

Jax: Come on.

Carly: Let's go.

Nikolas: Ok.

Nikolas: We're together now, you and me. We'll never be separated again, I promise. Everything will be just fine.

Man: Morgan took the bait about the meeting with Alcazar. He'll be there in a half-hour.

Manny: Yeah. I'll take it from here.

Justus: Alcazar could be genuine about wanting this truce.

Jason: Alcazar is the reason Manny Ruiz came to town. They were working together for months. Any truce he offers is worthless.

Justus: He may not like you saying this to his face. You better take somebody with you for backup, Jason.

Jason: Now, listen, Justus. Nothing's going to happen tonight, ok? Alcazar always starts off the same way -- nice and easy like he's trying to fool someone.

[Phone rings]

Jason: Yeah?

Sam: Jason, please, you got to come over here now. Someone was in my room.

Jason: Sam, I'm right -- I'm right in the middle --

Sam: Hey, I am not making this up.

Justus: What's going on?

Jason: Sam -- she said someone broke into her room.

Justus: She did this twice before at Alexis', didn't she?

Jason: Yeah, and I checked the place out, there was nobody.

Justus: You think it's more of the same?

Carly: You know, I -- I can understand that Nikolas is upset, but to not want Norma to be his nanny? Does he think that she's going to spy for us or something?

Jax: Carly, it's over. Just leave it alone.

Carly: That poor little boy is going to be scared and disoriented. He's probably screaming and crying right now, Jax.

Jax: Damn it! I made the choice to tell Nikolas the truth, ok? We can't change it now.

Carly: I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm going on and on because I'm just so afraid to stop and feel what I'm feeling.

Jax: Carly, we both are. I mean, I really thought that I was prepared to -- to give John up. But when I handed him over to Nikolas, I -- I had no idea how much it would hurt.

Carly: I so badly want to make this better for you, and I can't. I have to go.

Jax: No, wait, wait, wait. No. The only thing that would make this day worse is if I had to go through this without you.

Emily: I have no intention of leaving you, Sonny, but you're getting worse. If you could just talk to Lainey Winters --

Sonny: That's not going to help me to talk to a shrink who thinks I'm going crazy in the head.

Emily: She could diagnose your --

Sonny: If I -- if I need help, you're there, you can help me.

Emily: I don't have that kind of training.

Sonny: What do you mean? You're the -- you're the most kindest, most understanding person that I know. So --

Emily: She could prescribe something to you.

Sonny: I don't want drugs, I don't want doctors, I just need you. I could not stand it if I lost you.

Emily: I know. You won't.

Sonny: And I know my life has been all over the place right now, but you know what? It's going to get better. You know why? Because the worst is over. My life is great right now, beginning with you. And I know that, you know -- hey -- I can get through whatever this thing is, as long as I can count on you.

Emily: Hmm. Sonny, you can -- you can always count on me, but you have got to help yourself.

Sonny: I'm fine, I'm fine. I promise you -- I promise you.

Emily: Ok -- oh --

Sonny: What?

Emily: I've -- I've got to go check in at the hospital.

Sonny: Ok.

Emily: You know what, I'll call and I'll just postpone.

Sonny: You're not going to do that. You got a career, you got a life, you go. I'll be --

Emily: Are you sure?

Sonny: I'll be fine. If you want, you -- you get Max, call him every 15 minutes, check in on me.

Emily: Ok, I might take you up on that, seriously.

Sonny: Ok, we're going to have dinner, too, when you get back. We'll have dinner.

Emily: Ok.

Sonny: Ok?

Emily: I love you.

Sonny: Hey, I love you, too. Ok.

Emily: All right.

Sonny: Whew.

Sonny: Get over here now.

Sam: Jason.

Jason: Ok, tell -- tell me what happened.

Sam: No, come -- come into my room and see for yourself.

Jason: What?

Sam: Look.

Jason: What?

Sam: Some-- somebody did this. My -- my bags were on the bed. The -- the window was open, the picture is unpacked, my clothes are in there.

Jason: So? So?

Sam: I never unpacked my bags. Somebody broke in and did this.

Jason: Did you -- did you set this up like -- like at Alexis' house?

Sam: No. Ok, look, it's true, I made -- Jason, I made it up before. You know that, ok? I -- I thought I could convince you to take me back. But this is different. My bags were on the bed, and they were -- and they were packed. Somebody wants me to know they can get to me anytime they want.

Justus: You're alive.

Manny: Mm-hmm. And you're supposed to be Jason Morgan. It's not your lucky day, man.

Jax: You know that expression "the silence was deafening"?

Carly: It's quiet here without John.

Jax: Yeah. It's going to take a bit of getting used to.

Carly: If you want noise, I could have my boys come over.

Jax: You're really lucky to have Michael and Morgan, you know.

Carly: I could have Leticia bring them over if you like.

Jax: No, that's fine. I'd just rather spend time with you. I'm sorry. You know, I'm making this all about me, and this is hard for you, as well.

Carly: Stop. Stop. Ok? Don't do that. We're going to help each other get through this. Oh. We didn't pack Eli, huh?

Jax: No -- you know, John used to sleep with him. You know, they say "elephants never forget." That's why I kept him. Because I don't want to forget, either.

[Colleen gasps]

Colleen: Ah!

Helena: Shh, shh, shh.

Colleen: Oh, it's you.

Helena: Well, I must say you did very well securing your position so quickly.

Colleen: You told me what to say, and it worked.

Helena: Well, my soft-hearted grandson truly believes that love and nurturing are indispensable qualities for a caregiver. So, you do exactly what Nikolas asks of you. And when I give the word, bring Baby John to me.

Emily: Yes. Ok. All right, thank you.

Nikolas: Hey.

Emily: Hi.

Nikolas: Hi.

Emily: So, John's home with you now?

Nikolas: Yeah, yeah, Jax dropped him by this afternoon.

Emily: Oh. How does it feel being a dad?

Nikolas: Well, he's been crying, fussing, and refusing to eat, and I don't have a clue what to do about it. The nanny says it's normal, but, I don't know, shouldn't he be taking a bottle or something? I'm probably overreacting, but I just want to make sure that he's not sick or anything. Do you mind holding him for a minute while I page the pediatrician?

Emily: Yeah. Sure.

Nikolas: Yeah. Here you go.

Emily: Ok. Oh, goodness. Hey, buddy.

Nikolas: Here you go.

Emily: Oh, there we go. Hello, handsome. You feeling fussy? Yes, you are. You got your daddy worried, you know that?

[Emily giggles]

Ric: I came as soon as I could. What's wrong?

Sonny: Sick, twisted bastard.

Ric: Sonny, what happened?

Sonny: I start to trust you this much, and you mess with my head, Ric.

Ric: Sonny, I don't know what you're talking about.

Sonny: The album! The picture! The white dress! Lily's. And you suggested that I buy Emily a dress, and you volunteered to get it.

Ric: Sonny --

Sonny: And then what?

Ric: I don't --

Sonny: You -- you what?

Ric: I don't know what you're talking about. What dress?

Sonny: Ugh. The one in the album! The white one!

Ric: Sonny, I never bought Emily a dress.

>> On the next "General Hospital" --

Emily: If I'd held John before, I would've instantly known he was yours.

Robin: Can I please come in for a moment?

Sam: Jason, I am not lying right now.

Jason: I believe you. I'm taking you home.

Sonny: You bought the dress!

Ric: Calm down.

Sonny: Don't say to calm down.
