Jason: I liked it here. And I liked how -- how happy you were. I really did want it to last.

Sam: Do you want to know a secret? I really never thought it would. You know, you are not the kind of person who likes to take the easy way out. And that part of you -- it goes so much deeper than memory. I knew we were going to go back.

[Music plays]

Sam: So I promised myself to love this place while it lasted, and I promised to be happy when you decided to go back to your real life.

Singer: To just survive?

Sam: You are doing what you think is right, and that is all I have ever wanted you to do.

Singer: Tried so hard to quiet my expensive dreams before they take you or leave me wondering baby, it's just you and me we got a thing we can't shake maybe it's a little hard

Jason: Ok, I got to go.

Singer: Sometimes to take

Sam: Have a safe trip, ok?

Jason: Yeah.

Singer: But I'll tell you something it's a life worth living just so you know I wouldn't give it up, no

Jason: I love you.

Singer: Just so you know I wouldn't give it up, no

Sam: I love you, too.

Singer: I need an alarm system in my house so I know when people are creepin' about these people are freakin' me out these days it's getting hectic everywhere that I go they won't leave me alone there's things they all wanna know I'm paranoid of all the people I meet why are they talking to me, and why can't anyone see? Courtney: I mean, you can see why I'd be kind of suspicious, right?

Jax: Yeah, no, you're entitled to be skeptical.

Courtney: Obviously, the surrogacy -- it just made you realize how badly you want to be a father.

Jax: Well, truthfully, I surprised myself. You know, once Elizabeth was pregnant and the baby was a reality, I became completely absorbed. So now I have to re-evaluate what's important. And whether you like it or not, you're on that list. Why don't we just forget about children altogether?

Courtney: I'm not sure that's possible.

Jax: Well, Elizabeth won't consider being a surrogate again. And you can't get pregnant -- which I knew from the start.

Courtney: Jax, aren't we supposed to be moving on?

Jax: Yes. Yes, in theory.

Courtney: Ok, then why do you keep showing up?

Jax: Because we have wedding gifts to return, that's why.

Courtney: No, Jax, your assistant could have handled that.

Jax: So could yours. Well, besides, it's more polite this way -- doing it this way. You know, add more fun.

Courtney: Fun? We aren't supposed to be having fun. I mean, I don't even know that we're really supposed to be talking to each other.

Jax: I will not tell my lawyer if you don't tell yours.

Courtney: Jax, why don't you tell me what you really want?

Jax: I want us to forgive each other.

Nikolas: Look, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that, ok?

Emily: No, it's ok.

Nikolas: I just never considered that Courtney would get pregnant. I always thought it would be us.

Emily: Courtney could be carrying Jaxís child.

Nikolas: Well, the odds are against it, you know?

Emily: The odds were against Courtney being pregnant at all.

Nikolas: I can't wrap my mind around this, you know? Years ago, I thought Katherine was pregnant, and I was ready to marry her. And that just ended so badly.

Emily: It was another life.

Nikolas: But I just -- even then, it was a sign, you know, not to bring another Cassadine into this world, because the gene pool's obviously tainted.

Emily: Have you mentioned this tainted gene pool theory to Alexis?

Nikolas: No, no, of course not.

Emily: Wise choice. Maybe it's just an excuse, anyway.

Nikolas: For what?

Emily: You obviously don't want to deal with feeding the baby at 3:00 in the morning.

Nikolas: 3:00 in the morning? You don't feed a baby at 3:00 in the morning. You do?

Emily: Nikolas, tell me you're kidding.

Nikolas: Well, don't they just sleep most of the time?

Emily: Yeah, 12 hours a day, three or four hours at a time.

Nikolas: Oh, ok.

Emily: You really had no idea?

Nikolas: Well, no. The servants didn't mention it to me. Nor did my uncle. He was too busy reading -- reading me Greek and Latin mythology. He left out the childcare part. Well, just so you know -- if we were still together, the 3:00 A.M. feeding thing would be on you.

Emily: Nikolas, do us both a favor and, I don't know, don't talk about what might have been.

Elizabeth: What do you think about this cake?

Lucky: Is it edible?

Elizabeth: It's expensive. But I like the way it's frosted.

Lucky: How many layers? Like, eight?

Elizabeth: I don't know. Maybe nine. And obviously, our cake would be a lot smaller, but I think gram and I could copy this look.

Lucky: Listen, I can spring for the cake. It won't -- it won't look like that, but you won't have to bake it.

Elizabeth: Why? Gram should be good at this sort of thing. And besides, it'll be fun.

Lucky: What, after working a full day at the hospital?

Elizabeth: You're working as hard as I am.

Lucky: Will we be, like, asleep during our own wedding?

Elizabeth: I promise to stay awake. At least until we say "I do." And then you can take me straight up to bed.

Lucky: Deal. That dress kind of looks like the cake. In fact, it's kind of similar.

Elizabeth: Pay no attention.

Lucky: It's your dream wedding dress, isn't it?

Elizabeth: This dress probably costs at least as much as one year of Cameronís college tuition -- which we haven't even started saving yet.

Lucky: Listen, just forget about the money. Tell me about your dream wedding.

Ric: Well, you have a reputation for being a reasonable man, Mr. Ruiz.

Mr. Ruiz: I hope so.

Ric: You've given your family strong leadership for many years.

Mr. Ruiz: Tell me what you want, Mr. Lansing.

Ric: This -- this trouble in Port Charles --

Mr. Ruiz: Oh -- it's upsetting to all of us.

Ric: I'm sure you realize that it's being driven by a third party.

Mr. Ruiz: Lorenzo Alcazar.

Ric: Yeah. He's pitting your family -- your sons against my brother. He's trying to make them destroy each other so that he can move in and subsequently take control of Port Charles.

Mr. Ruiz: It's a solid strategy, though it's -- it's unfortunate for you.

Ric: Mr. Ruiz, if Lorenzo Alcazar succeeds, how long do you think it's going to take him before he turns his attention to your Miami holdings? With all due respect, Mr. Ruiz, I believe that my brother and your family can reach a business arrangement that is mutually satisfactory. We can learn to stay out of each other's way, thereby shut Alcazar out of the picture, form an alliance that is mutually beneficial to both of us.

Mr. Ruiz: It's too late. For me to back out now would show weakness.

Ric: Mr. Ruiz, you nearly lost your son to this war. Your other son, Javier, is risking his life as we speak, as well as my only brother.

Mr. Ruiz: It's the price for doing business.

Ric: If we can find a better way to do business -- if we can't stop this fighting, one of us will lose someone we love tonight.

John: If you kill Sonny Corinthos, I'll be your alibi. I'll look the other way. But if you try to set up shop in Port Charles, my town, you're the enemy.

Javier: I offered to work with you.

John: No. No, no, no, no -- you asked for permanent police protection in return for a cut of your profits. I said no. This is a one-shot deal, so to speak, Javier. You go ahead, you kill Sonny Corinthos, then you hop up on your horse and get the hell out of my town.

Javier: Don't make Sonny's mistake. You're going to need me as a friend.

John: I got plenty of friends.

Man: All hell's breaking loose on 10.

Second man: Sonny Corinthos booked the entire floor.

First man: It sounds like a fight, possibly gunfire. Call the cops.

John: I'm John Durant. I'm the district attorney. Don't worry, I'll handle everything.

Sonny: You ok?

Reese: Yeah, I'm fine, but they're going to come back, you know.

Sonny: Ok, they're going to want to finish the job. They're going to come back soon.

Courtney: There are different --

Jax: Thanks.

Courtney: Levels of forgiveness, you know? I mean, there's on the surface, polite. There's the day-to-day dealing with each other on a world level of forgiveness, which I think we've reached.

Jax: What about underneath?

Courtney: Jax, I think it's going to take us both some time. I lied, so did you. We deceived each other. I mean --

Jax: Yeah.

Courtney: When do you start believing again? All I'm saying is that it would be a lot easier for you to adopt a child if you were married.

Jax: Why not just hire another surrogate if all I wanted was a child? Which there's no denying. But if we're being honest, you want a child as much as you ever did, too.

Courtney: Yeah, I want a baby. But it's complicated.

Jax: Well, then let's simplify it. Let's try to get back to the way we were before.

Courtney: It's not going to happen, Jax. Look, I have had three failed marriages.

Jax: I certainly hope you're not going to throw me in there with A.J. and Jason.

Courtney: No, no, never. I just -- I'm just acknowledging that I'm not very good at being married. Ok? I have all this baggage which I thought I had put down, or at least had under control when we got married, but I was wrong. You know, as soon as the surrogacy started, my insecurities kicked in with a vengeance. And, I don't know -- I should have asked for help. I should have told you how I was feeling, but instead I just tried to solve it on my own. Does that sound familiar? Because that's what I do all the time, which is fine and even workable as long as you're not married but, Jax, it is totally unfair to promise to spend your life with someone and -- and then you don't share it with them. And --

[Courtney sighs]

Courtney: God, I'm sorry.

Jax: Yeah.

Courtney: I just -- I hurt you, Jax, and you hurt me, too. And if you ask me what I want, I just don't want us to hurt each other again.

Jax: I don't want that, either. I'm not saying that we should, you know, start over. I'm just -- I'd like to be around you -- in whatever -- in whatever way that -- that works for you.

Nikolas: I'm sorry. I should go.

Emily: No, Nikolas, you don't have to apologize. Listen, I probably know better than anyone how strange it is for you to think about Courtney carrying your baby. And I want to help, or at least to listen. But there's just a lot going on here at the moment.

Nikolas: Well, if you're referring to Sonny's so-called businesses, that's exactly why I don't like the idea of you being here.

Emily: Please, don't, Nikolas. We have separate lives now. We can help each other, but we don't get to comment on each other's choices.

Nikolas: It's a choice of yours to take care of Sonny's kids?

Emily: Loving them is. Trying to help while their mother's in the hospital is absolutely a choice.

Nikolas: Listen, I'm sorry. I'm making you mad, ok?

Emily: Yeah, you're starting to, and since this won't do either one of us any good, why don't we just agree to disagree? You and I can just stick to planning Elizabeth and Lucky's surprise wedding and being friends.

Nikolas: Ok. You always were a good friend.

Emily: Ok, well, then as your friend, try to work things out with Courtney. Because this baby, if it's yours, is going to change everything.

Elizabeth: This dress would be way too formal for our wedding.

Lucky: Ok, then why do you have this page marked?

Elizabeth: I like to dream. Doesn't mean I need for it to happen.

Lucky: But what if it could? What would your dream wedding be?

Elizabeth: It's embarrassing. I don't want to tell you.

Lucky: Wait a minute. Aren't engaged couples supposed to share everything?

Elizabeth: Ok, God. Ok, as long as you understand that it's just a fantasy. I'm not hoping for it to come true, ok?

Lucky: Ok, pure fantasy, no basis in reality. Got it. Spill it.

Elizabeth: Cinderella.

Lucky: You mean the fairy tale?

Elizabeth: I know I should have gotten over it by now, but I have always wanted to be Cinderella -- in a big, sparkling wedding dress, going to the ball, dancing with the man I love.

Lucky: We danced at a ball. Remember?

Elizabeth: Yeah. The Bacchanalia at Wyndermere. I remember. Of course, we weren't invited, so you talked me into sneaking over to the island and watching the party from the garden. Those women were so beautiful in those ball gowns.

Lucky: You were more beautiful than any of them.

Elizabeth: Lucky, I was wearing jeans.

Lucky: Doesn't matter.

[Music plays]

Lucky: I knew right then that you were the most beautiful girl in the world.

Elizabeth: Now, see, that's what matters. Not a dress or a party. The fact that you love me. And that's exactly why I don't need a Cinderella wedding. Nothing will make me happier than standing in my grandmother's living room looking into your eyes as you say you'll be my husband.

Singer: You and me and you know I'd cross the stars for you and I think you would go that far there's nowhere else I'd rather be

Reese: It's way too quiet.

Sonny: Yeah.

Reese: Where are the police? We just shot up the 10th floor of the fanciest hotel in town. Don't you think anybody heard us?

Sonny: I booked the whole floor. I booked it so innocent people wouldn't get hurt.

Reese: Well, what about the people above us or below us? You don't think anybody heard what just happened?

Sonny: The Ruiz family probably has somebody at the cop-shop on their payroll.

Reese: Somebody with enough power to keep the cops from showing up, of course.

Sonny: Probably John Durant.

Reese: Durant hates you, but he hates all mobsters. I really don't see him in bed with the Ruiz family.

Sonny: Durant's main goal is to see me dead. That way, he can run the Ruiz family out of town before they get too established. So if he gets rid of me, his hands are clean.

Reese: And he gets access to Carly.

Sonny: I don't want him anywhere near Carly.

Reese: He's probably downstairs in the bar right now gloating.

Sonny: Listen to me. If I don't make it out of here --

Reese: We're both making it out of here, Sonny.

Sonny: But if I don't -- if I don't, I want to make sure Carlyís all right. I just need you to go to Justus. He's got it all set up financially. I just want to make sure that if Carly never leaves Roselawn, then my children can visit her. I know I'm asking a lot. But I just -- can you promise me that?

Reese: I promise.

Sonny: Thank you.

Reese: The cops should have shown up by now. We're on our own, Sonny.

Sonny: Ok. Javier's people are going to come back with reinforcements. All right? They're going to know that we're barricaded here, that we're ready to fight back.

Reese: Yeah, even though we're outnumbered.

Sonny: Ok, we are here like sitting ducks. But there is an option.

Reese: What?

Sonny: We take the fight to them.

Courtney: Ok. How about this? "Thank you for sharing our special day with us. But I regret to inform you that Jax and I got divorced. P.S., The gift was lovely."

Jax: It's sweet, to the point.

Courtney: Yeah, but it sounds like we're keeping the gifts.

Jax: Are you sure you want to give all of them back?

Courtney: You know, most of them haven't even been opened yet.

Jax: I know. What about this? "We loved your wedding present so much, we never bothered to open it. And now we're going to pawn it off to some stranger."

Courtney: We can't say that.

Jax: Why not?

Courtney: Because it's even more rude than getting divorced before we send out the thank-you notes.

Jax: Let's face it -- we're a social disaster of epic proportions.

Courtney: I like that.

Jax: What?

Courtney: Yes, yes -- "Sorry we are such a social disaster, but we really enjoyed your gift, whatever it was. Although, we only really looked at the cool ones, and thank you, anyway." Oh -- oh -- "and we'll let you know when the yard sale is."

Jax: The yard -- come again at the yard sale. We don't have a yard. I mean, you know, you don't have yard. I didn't mean the "we."

Courtney: You know, we really need to get this stuff done.

Jax: Yeah. Why don't we just donate it, you know, to Mothers Without Means?

Courtney: You know, that's -- that's a good idea.

Jax: Yeah, I'll just write a nice note and send a bottle of champagne with each note.

Courtney: That sounds great.

Jax: Yeah?

Courtney: Yeah.

[Knock on door]

Jax: Ok. I still like your idea about the yard sale. "Come find your gift. It's at the yard sale."

Courtney: Not going to happen.

[Phone rings]

Sam: Jason? Hello?

Man: Sam McCall?

Sam: Yeah. Who's calling?

Man: I'm an officer from the Maui Police Department.

Sam: What happened?

Officer: Manny Ruiz has escaped police custody. We have reason to believe he'll come after you.

Ric: I appreciate that you wanted to expand your territory, but I also don't believe that you wanted it to happen this way.

Mr. Ruiz: Manny is impulsive. Shooting up your brother's home was rash, unnecessary.

Ric: Yes, well, that's when the situation did start to escalate. Manny's action forced me into an encounter that none of us wanted. Believe me, Mr. Ruiz, when I say I regret any harm that may have come to your son.

Mr. Ruiz: Thank you.

Ric: A war is about to break out. But you can stop it if you take control of the situation.

Mr. Ruiz: You want me to call off Javier?

Ric: If you do, I will reason with my brother. We can reach a compromise. But if Javier and Sonny kill each other, we all stand to lose. Is expanding your territory worth losing the life of your son?

Mr. Ruiz: Get me Javier. Oh. I understand. We're too late. Javier's already moved against your brother. There's no stopping this now.

Sonny: Good. It's all right. Whew.

Reese: Shh.

Sonny: You ready?

Reese: Yeah. Hey. Oh. Oh!

Nikolas: I should've called first. I'm sorry.

Courtney: No. No, no, no. It's --

Jax: You know what? We can finish this another time.

Courtney: Let's go ahead and donate those gifts to Mothers Without Means.

Jax: Ok. I'll get started on the cards.

Courtney: Thanks for stopping by.

Nikolas: He brought champagne, huh?

Courtney: It was just a peace offering.

Nikolas: Did you tell him why you couldn't drink it?

Courtney: Nikolas, I can't tell him until after the paternity test. You know, Jax wants to be a parent so badly, almost as much as I do and I -- oh, I have already hurt so many people in this. I'm glad that you're here.

Nikolas: Yeah. This baby -- you know, it's the last thing that I expected.

Courtney: There's no pressure.

Nikolas: I know.

Courtney: I can raise the baby alone --

Nikolas: Listen, listen, listen, listen. I came here to thank you for telling me the truth, ok? And to make it clear that if the baby is mine, that I promise I'll be the best father that I know how.

Sonny: I'm here, ok? It's ok. You did good.

Reese: Sonny --

Sonny: You did real good.

Jax: So, I was walking through the park thinking about everything that went wrong with Courtney and how I got fixated on Elizabethís baby. Anyway, all this -- all this stuff was going through my mind, and then it hit me. The night of the accident, I -- I caught a glimpse of a woman that ran out in front of the car. And then I realized it was Carly. You're not going to say anything?

Emily: I wasn't there, Jax. I didn't see the accident.

Jax: Well, it makes perfect sense, doesn't it? I mean, Carly was going through that nervous breakdown; Sonny couldn't be bothered to take her to the hospital. Right?

Emily: That's not exactly what was going on.

Jax: Then what was? You know the truth, don't you? Is Carly the reason Elizabeth lost the baby?

[Knock on door]

Courtney: Hi.

Elizabeth: Hi. Is this a bad time?

Courtney: No, no, not at all. Come in.

Elizabeth: Ok. Thank you.

Courtney: Is everything all right?

Elizabeth: Yeah, yeah. It's great, actually.

Courtney: Um, can I -- can I offer you anything? Champagne, ice cream?

Elizabeth: This is really awkward, so I'm just going to come right out and say it. I'm sure Nikolas is going to invite you to my wedding. But I think it would make Emily really uncomfortable for you to be there.

Courtney: Elizabeth, I would never want to add any stress or tension to the happiest day of your life.

Elizabeth: Thank you. I appreciate that.

Courtney: You know, I'm really happy for you and Lucky. You've been through so much, you know? I would never do anything to try and ruin your wedding. I mean, I wish you all the joy in the world.

Elizabeth: Thank you for your understanding.

Courtney: Well, I hope that your wedding is absolutely perfect.

Elizabeth: Yeah. Ok, thanks. Wait. This is all wrong.

Lucky: You all right? Don't tell me you want to be alone.

Nikolas: But I do.

Lucky: Too bad. Tell me what happened. Look, I'm your brother. We can stand here or we could get into another fistfight or you could just tell me what happened.

Nikolas: I went to see Emily. Ok?

Lucky: That's good.

Nikolas: I needed her opinion on a few things.

Lucky: Like what?

Nikolas: Courtney.

Lucky: Oh, you didnít.

Nikolas: Yeah, I know. Completely selfish and unfair. I know that.

Lucky: You think?

Nikolas: I just -- but Emily was great like she always is. You know, I didn't plan on confiding in her, Lucky. It's just when we're together -- I mean, I've always been able to talk to her. You know, I guess I just took advantage of that.

Lucky: Listen, I know you love Emily whether you admit it or not. And I guess you have feelings for Courtney. But you can't have them both. And you need to decide.

Sonny: Hang on here. Stay with me.

Reese: Just leave me, Sonny.

Sonny: No, I'm getting you out of here.

Reese: I'm already weighing you down.

Sonny: No, we're both getting out together.

[Reese groans]

Reese: Just go.

Emily: Does it really matter who ran out in front of your car, Jax? If it was Carly, she didn't know what she was doing.

Jax: Yeah, because Carly was having a nervous breakdown because Sonny refused to take her to the doctor.

Emily: Sonny was trying to help Carly in the way he felt was best.

Jax: Yeah. Sonny was feeding his own ego and destroyed yet another woman who loves him. That's nothing new.

Emily: Whoever ran out in front of you had no idea that a pregnant woman was in the car. No one meant for Elizabeth to lose her baby.

Jax: It was Carly, wasn't it? That's why you're trying so hard not to tell me.

Emily: Anyone could've run out in front of your car, Jax.

Jax: I don't blame Carly. I blame Sonny.

Emily: Why blame anyone? I mean, dwelling on the accident isn't going to bring the baby back. Reliving the hurt keeps you stuck in the past, Jax. Believe me, I know.

Jax: Yeah, I suppose you do. And you're right -- you know what? You're right. There's no point in fighting with Sonny. There's no point in looking back.

Emily: You know, it's natural. Everyone does it. But instead of thinking about what might have been, I don't know -- maybe try to rebuild something good to replace what you lost.

Jax: What if I want back what I lost? And I'm not referring to the baby. I meant Courtney.

Emily: You want to get back together with Courtney?

Jax: We've both made mistakes, but I'm willing to let go of the past, maybe even try again.

Courtney: Why would it be wrong? Elizabeth, it's your wedding. You have every right to ask me not to be there. I mean, we haven't really gotten along since Jason and, well, I was part of the whole surrogacy mess, which was awful for you, and as you've pointed out, Nikolas and Emily are your best friends, so --

Elizabeth: But I am not going to use my wedding to push them together. And as much as I would like to, I cannot fix Emilyís life nor can I push Nikolas to be with Emily even though I found my way back to Lucky.

Courtney: But you're the Four Musketeers. You have this sort of built-in symmetry.

Elizabeth: Yeah, but that doesn't mean that Nikolas can't bring you to my wedding. You're in love with him, aren't you?

Courtney: More than I thought possible in such a short amount of time. Look, I want Nikolas to be happy, which is why I am willing to let him go.

Lucky: You are stringing Emily and Courtney along. It isn't fair to anybody. You have to make a choice.

Nikolas: You don't understand, ok?

Lucky: No, Nikolas, it's not that complicated. You and Emily have a chance to get back together if that's what you want, and I hope you do, but if you decide to be with Courtney, you have to decide.

Nikolas: Look, it's not just me, ok? Emily and Courtney get to choose, as well, and Emily already did, remember? She chose to end our marriage.

Lucky: Ok, just trust me on this one. Only a woman in love with you would allow you to dump your problems with Courtney on her lap. Listen, you have a chance to get back with Emily if that's what you want, but decide.

Nikolas: Look, I realize that it's unfair to be with someone out of obligation while your heart may be somewhere else and I'm not saying that that's me. I'm just -- I'm just saying that sometimes it's unavoidable, that's all.

Lucky: Would you just forget about duty and honor for once and be true to yourself? You either want to be with Emily or Courtney. Make a choice.

[Knock on door]

Javier: I know you're out of ammunition I admire you, Corinthos. It takes a lot of courage for a man to set a trap using himself as bait. It's too bad it didn't work.

Sonny: Do what you have to do with me, but she needs help.

Javier: You misjudged me, and you miscalculated tonight. It's a shame, really, the great Sonny Corinthos reduced to this. You dying in the stairwell of an overpriced hotel. You're a religious man. Start praying.

Sonny: You're the one who should start praying

Javier: I'm putting my gun down. You're nobody's hit man anymore. You don't take orders from Sonny. You're not even in the business. So why kill me? You got a conscience now. Too much of a conscience to pull that trigger.

>> On the next "General Hospital" --

Elizabeth: Why let Nikolas go?

Courtney: Come on, you've seen him with Emily.

Nikolas: Emily and I have a connection that transcends everything.

Officer: Police. Open the door, please. I'm here to guard you until Mr. Ruiz is apprehended.

Javier: You've got nothing to do with Sonny anymore.

Jason: Is that what you think?
