Elizabeth: I have no regrets about being a surrogate for you and Courtney, and I am so sorry that our child didn't make it, but if you still want a baby and you're thinking about asking me to do it again, I just canít.
Nikolas: How you feeling?
Emily: Not too bad.
Nikolas: Good. Monica said that you lost a lot of blood, but you're going to be all right.
Emily: Thanks to you.
Nikolas: I'm so grateful that you're ok. I don't know what this world would do without you.
Emily: You were wonderful tonight, Nikolas. You saved me and you stayed by my side. But you can go now. I'm ok. You don't have to keep being wonderful.
Nikolas: What if I don't want to stop?
Lucky: Carly, I spoke with Emily. Emily said that she fell on a sickle by accident. She's not pressing any charges.
John: But I am. Arrest Carly for the attempted murder of Emily Cassadine.
Jason: Stay away from Sam. Don't let me see you again. Is that simple enough?
Javier: Here's what's simple, Mr. Morgan. You're either with me or against me. But either way, you're involved. The only thing that remains to be seen is how and for how long.
Jason: So either I work for you or you're going to kill us.
Javier: We understand each other perfectly.
Jason: What do you want me to do?
Ric: Hmm, good for you.
Alexis: What do you mean?
Ric: Your dinner. It's an all-around healthy meal for mom and baby.
Alexis: I'm trying. I take it you got the separation agreement?
Ric: Yeah. Right here.
Alexis: All right, so let me know if there's anything in it, any terms or stipulations that you don't --
Jax: I realize that I was a little unreasonable during your pregnancy.
Elizabeth: We all were, Jax. Surrogacy seemed like the perfect solution for you and Courtney, and somehow this arrangement brought out everyone's flaws and insecurities, which I guess is human nature. Nobody's perfect, right?
Jax: Well, you were the only one that truly rose above all this.
Elizabeth: Well, I had my moments.
Jax: No, Elizabeth, you were very patient. You saw everyone's point of view without judgment.
Elizabeth: I just wanted what was best for the baby.
Jax: I just wish there would've been a happier ending.
Elizabeth: Yeah, me, too. But I meant what I said about not having any regrets.
Jax: Well, then I hope that you're -- that you can keep the door open to the idea of perhaps -- perhaps trying again someday.
Elizabeth: I would if I thought I could. But the truth is Lucky was right. For the short amount of time that I carried this baby, I grew to love her. I found myself daydreaming that she was a girl and I imagined her as a toddler playing at the park in the sandbox and laughing as she chased butterflies.
Jax: Yeah, that's only natural.
Elizabeth: But the thing is I was always a part of the picture. And it just made me realize I am simply not capable of carrying a child for nine months, giving birth, and then surrendering this baby to another couple.
Jax: Yeah, but Courtney and I are no longer together. So you would've shared partial custody of our child.
Elizabeth: Jax, I want a family with Lucky. I want a baby to love in our home full-time, and you deserve the same.
Jax: Right, yeah. You know, this baby made me realize how much I'm ready to be a father.
Elizabeth: And you're going to be a wonderful one.
Jax: Just, you know, I can't wrap my mind around trying to find another surrogate.
Elizabeth: Then donít. As your friend, I hope you'll wait to start a family with your wife.
Emily: When I was brought here to the hospital, I wanted you with me.
Nikolas: I would never have left you, Emily, not for the world.
Emily: Old habits die hard, huh?
Nikolas: Or maybe they don't die at all.
Emily: You know, we can't turn back the clock, Nikolas, even if we wanted to. We can't magically erase all the things that tore us apart.
Nikolas: I know. I know. But I also know that I feel closer to you right now than I have in a really long time.
John: Emily is covering for Carly, pretending to have fallen on the hand sickle.
Lucky: Emily isn't pressing charges.
John: She's still a victim. Arrest Carly.
Lucky: Get somebody else to do your dirty work.
John: Carly, I'm not trying to hurt you.
Sonny: Leave her alone, Durant.
John: But you need help. You're not going to get it here. Sonny, all he wants to do is control you. He doesn't care what happens to you.
Sonny: Don't listen to him, Carly.
John: You see that? You see that right there? You see what he's doing? He's feeding your mind with paranoia. That's why you're not getting well. He makes you sick, this house makes you sick.
Sonny: I told you to leave her alone!
John: I can help you, Carly.
Sonny: It's all right.
John: Give me your hand. Give me your --
Sonny: Carly, Carly --
John: This is D.A. Durant. Get me Mac Scorpio.
Reese: You're not making that call.
Sonny: Carly, come back. Carly? No one's going to hurt you, ok? I won't let them. Listen to me, you got to trust that I'm going to help you, Carly. You're going to get better. You will. Even if you have to go away for a little while.
Carly: Go away forever.
Javier: I'll be in touch when I need you.
Jason: I'm not in the business anymore. How many times do I have to tell you? I don't work for Sonny and I sure as hell don't work for you.
Javier: Your services are too valuable.
Jason: Don't show up here again or so much as look at Sam or I will take you out. Is that clear? I can't hear you!
Javier: Yes, clear.
Sam: Ok, you really scared him. Maybe he'll leave us alone.
Jason: There's only one way out of this.
Alexis: Ric, we're already separated. Why not avoid any misunderstandings by putting it in writing?
Ric: Listen, you want to talk about the issues at hand, fine, I'm willing. Is this really about a separation or is this more about my refusing to stop working for Sonny? Is this your way to pressure me into quitting? I --
Alexis: You can't quit. I'm clear on that now. But unfortunately you signed on for a very dangerous, a very dysfunctional life. There will always be another threat, another complication ad infinitum. The violence in his life is never-ending. That's just the nature of the beast.
Ric: Ok, what about agreeing to disagree, Alexis? We're expecting a child together. We can go round and round on this subject forever.
Alexis: Which is why I -- I don't want our irreconcilable differences to affect the baby in any way.
Ric: I love this child. I also happen to love you, as well.
Alexis: I love you, too. But we don't seem to be able to live under the same roof. So I just think that we need to set up some groundwork of parenting guidelines so that our baby can grow up and have a happy childhood.
Ric: Yeah, yeah. Nothing's more important than a happy childhood.
Alexis: Which is why I know that ultimately once the baby is born, you will stop working for Sonny.
John: Could you please tell me what it is about Sonny Corinthos that makes an otherwise intelligent woman act like a complete fool?
Reese: This isn't about Sonny; this is about your daughter.
John: Yeah, she needs help.
Reese: She's disoriented.
John: Disoriented? Disoriented? Her entire world revolves around Sonny Corinthos, and what does she get in return? Constant rejection, scorn, disrespect, demoralizing treatment on a daily basis. That's why she's disoriented!
Reese: He's not the one trying to have her arrested, ok?
John: Let me ask you something --
Reese: You don't know what you're talking about, Durant!
John: I want to ask you something -- do you think it's healthy that she is lying in a dark bedroom down the hall while you're playing mattress tag with Sonny Corinthos in the master bedroom? That is my daughter that's falling apart!
Sonny: There were days when I was too tired to fight, Carly. It could've been very easy. You know, I could've just let happen what was going to happen, I could've been killed, and that would've been the answer to my prayers. Or at least it would've ended my pain. But there was something inside of me that made me keep going and made me stand up, and that's what you're going to do right now, Carly.
Carly: I canít.
Sonny: Yes, you -- you think you canít. But you know what? Listen, you know what? I know you better than you know yourself. Believe it or not, we're so alike. That's why I love you and hate you at the same time, because you teach me so much. When you're wrong, I see that I'm wrong. When you love, I know that I can love. I know that I can open up my heart. And I won't ever give up. And you're not going to give up right now.
Carly: You're stronger than me, Sonny.
Sonny: No. Not -- not on my best day I have ever lived. I get my courage from pride, from anger, from not giving a damn. But you -- you're different. Because you have hope. Do you understand? You go for what you want in life. That's why you need to stand up right now, Carly.
Carly: I canít.
Sonny: Yes, you --
Carly: It's too late. Everything's wrecked.
Sonny: Nothing's wrecked. Michael and Morgan aren't wrecked. They love their mother; they need their mother. You're going to have to do this for our sons.
Jax: You know, I always thought that I would have a family by now.
Elizabeth: You still can.
Jax: No, no, Courtney and I, we're over.
Elizabeth: But you loved her. You wanted to start a family with her.
Jax: Well, Courtney had other priorities.
Elizabeth: You're angry with Courtney; she's upset with you.
Jax: No, no, no. No, we're past that. It's just I can't be with a woman I don't trust.
Elizabeth: Do you still love her?
Jax: That's not the point.
Elizabeth: Well, it's a pretty good reason to try again. Trust can be rebuilt.
Jax: It's too late, Elizabeth, ok? Courtney and I, we're just -- we're finished.
Elizabeth: I can't even tell you how many times Lucky and I have been finished, and now look at us. Love can outlast hurt. Living through the hard times will only make you stronger.
Jason: Ruiz can't trust me to stay out of this because I was Sonny's right-hand man.
Sam: So he thinks in the end you'll be loyal to Sonny.
Jason: So either I go back to work and I help Sonny take down the entire Ruiz family or I disappear.
Sam: You can't go back to work for Sonny.
Jason: I can't -- I can't do this anymore, Sam! It never ends!
Sam: Ok, I know better than to stop you from doing what you think is right. Do you know where you're going to go from here?
Jason: Well, I hope you can tell me because I'm not going anywhere without you.
Jax: Elizabeth told me about Emily. How's she doing?
Nikolas: Resting. Monica says she should be able to make a full recovery.
Nikolas: Hey, what'd the doctor say?
Jax: Are you all right?
Jason: How soon can you leave?
Sam: Tonight if you want.
Jason: You know, Ruiz is not going to wait. Is there anyone you want to say goodbye to?
Sam: Michael and Morgan but, you know what, they're too young. They really wouldn't understand, so I guess everyone else I could write. The only thing I need to do is touch base with the bank that administers Dannyís trust. I told you about that. You set it up for him so he would always be provided for. It was the most generous thing anyone has ever done for me.
Jason: So have I ever met Danny?
Sam: Yeah, I had him here in Port Charles once. I kept him hidden because I couldn't find a place for him to live and you were the first person I told, and I took you there and you met him and you were so nice to him. You were really wonderful and you kind of won his trust over when you started talking about motorcycles.
Jason: What, he knows about motorcycles?
Sam: Yeah, he knows about motorcycles. They're his specialty. The two of you would talk about that for hours, literally.
Jason: Where is he now?
Sam: He's in a group home, north shore of Maui. It's beautiful there. I mean, he loves it. I can't imagine why he wouldnít. I mean, it's the closest thing to paradise that I've ever seen. It's beautiful.
Jason: Do you want to be near Danny?
Sam: Well, there are beach houses for rent on the north shore. It's really close to the -- look, Jason, they're not fancy or anything, but you step out the back door and you're on the beach. It's amazing.
Jason: Hey, all we have now is time. Just find us a place to live.
Ric: What makes you think that I'm going to stop working for Sonny once the baby's born?
Alexis: I have faith in your priorities.
Ric: Alexis, I'm going to be a good father to this child, but Sonny needs my help right now.
Alexis: I know that that makes sense to you right now. May I make an observation?
Alexis: Intentions go right out the window when a baby is involved. When you take one look at your baby for the first time, I promise you that Sonny will take a sudden and precipitous drop in your list of priorities.
Sonny: I've seen you fight for our children. When Faith stole our sons and A.J. made us believe that Michael was dead, I'm the one that gave up more than once. You never gave up. I don't care how weak you are, if Michael were drowning right now, you would do everything you could to get him out of that water. Think about it. What's the worst thing that could happen to a child? Losing their mother. Don't do this to our sons.
Carly: They love you, Sonny. You take care of them.
Sonny: They need you. They need you to stand up. I could pull you up, but that's a mistake that I've been doing, because I -- I've been fighting for you, but I can't fight anymore. You're going to have to survive, ok? You can survive. All you got to do is stand up. Come on.
Carly: I canít.
Sonny: Ok, listen, you can't quit on our children! Do you understand? Not on Michael and Morgan. You can't quit on them! If you don't want to do it for me, if you don't want to do it for yourself, you're going to do it for our sons! Because they need their mother! Stand up. Come on. Carly, come on. Come on. Come on.
Carly: Ok, I'm standing.
Sonny: I told you you could do it.
Carly: What do I do now? Because if I let go, I'll fall.
Sonny: You hold on to me, ok?
Reese: You're misinformed. I'm not living here.
John: Oh, so what is it, you're just sleeping over night after night after night?
Reese: Sonny and I are not so insensitive that we would do that to Carly.
John: Whoa, wait, wait, what are you saying, that Sonny gives a damn about Carly?
Reese: Yeah, he does.
John: Are you so blinded by your devotion to this idiot that you can't see what a toxic situation it is here?
Reese: You're the one who's blinded, Durant.
John: Sonny Corinthos has had a steady stream of women his entire life. He uses one up, he moves on to the next. You think it's going to be different with you? What do you think, that once Carlyís out of the picture here that you're going to move in and you two are going to live happily ever after?
Reese: Would you just stop obsessing about Sonny for five minutes and think about your own daughter?
John: That is the only reason that I am still in this house!
Reese: Then be a real father.
John: Don't you think I'm trying?
Reese: You know, I watched Carly grow up without a father. And the truth is she has been longing for one her entire life -- a strong, loving, protective man who will love her unconditionally.
John: I do.
Reese: Don't shine me on here, Durant. Carly comes second to your career. We both know that.
John: When she first found me, that's true.
John: But I've changed.
Reese: Oh, come on, you're a mob-busting prosecutor who lives to see his name on the front page of the paper, and Sonny would be your greatest get.
John: Reese, the only thing that I care about at this point is that my daughter gets well.
Reese: Then be a dad and help her.
John: The only way I know how to do that is to get her out of this house.
Reese: Oh, God, Durant. Do you really believe that Carly belongs in the system? In a mental institution for the criminally insane? Carly, your daughter, needs a father now more than she ever has in her entire life, more than she's needed a daddy to carry her on her shoulders when she was a little girl or to help her with her 10th-grade chemistry homework. Carly needs all the fatherly love that you can muster, all the kindness and the patience and the understanding.
John: Carly, I -- I know this may be difficult for you to believe, but I love you with all my heart.
Sonny: I thought I told you to get out, Durant.
John: I'm not going to call the police. All I want is for you to listen to me. Could you do that, Carly? Finding you was the best thing that's ever happened to me. I've never been much of a family guy. I know how to get a conviction, I know how to build a career, but I have no idea what it means to be a father or how to be a father, how to listen, how to be patient, how to put someone else's needs in front of mine. But you make me want to try. Now, I know I've failed you in a dozen ways. I have ignored you and neglected you as a father. And I wish I could make up for all those mistakes. I swear to God I wish I could make up for all of them, but I canít. The only thing I can do right now is try to do better. And I thought shepherding you through the system quickly, I could get you on the other end and -- but Reese has explained to me that the last thing that you need right now is to be booked and arraigned.
Carly: Yeah, Sonny can take care of me.
John: That's the part I just don't understand. I thought what you needed was to get out of this place; to get away from him. But for reasons that still honestly elude me, you love this man, you trust this man, and you feel safe with him. As a father, I have to respect that. I just hope he does the right thing. Carly, the only thing I want in this world is for you to be healthy and to be whole, whatever it takes. I just pray to God that Sonny can accomplish that for you. I love you, sweetheart.
Sonny: Thank you.
Carly: I'm -- I'm so tired. I better to go to bed.
Sonny: No, no, wait, wait, wait, ok? I know that I promised you that I'd help you get better, but you're never going to get better staying here with me.
Alexis: You've never looked into the face of this little, squirming 7 1/2-pound beautiful bundle and thought, "This is the most important person in the whole universe."
Ric: It doesn't mean I'm going to turn my back on my brother.
Alexis: Your whole life is going to be turned upside down, trust me. When you see this baby for the first time, you will feel a surge of love and protectiveness that is beyond anything that you could ever imagine. You'll realize that there is nothing more important than keeping this child safe. You may be Sonny's brother, but you aren't him. And I know that you would never let anyone or anything ever pose a threat to your son or daughter. I know that because I know you and I know your heart.
Sam: Ok, we are now proud renters of a two-bedroom, one-bath beachfront cottage.
Jason: Is that what you wanted?
Sam: Absolutely. Yes, it's perfect and it's ours, starting tomorrow. I even booked our flight to Maui.
Jason: Hmm. Are you worried about Ruiz coming after us?
Jason: Then what?
Sam: Well, see, everything's falling into place, ok? I get to have time alone with you, a life on the beach, I'm close to my brother Danny, and my life doesn't work like that, ok? When everything kind of seems like it's going really great, there's always, always a catch.
Jason: Not this time.
Sam: Are you sure? I mean, are you really sure you want to go through with this? Because if you don't, you can back out. You can back out right now and it'll be ok with me, I promise.
Jason: There's --
Sam: If you start remembering your friends, your family, everything --
Jason: No, no, there's nothing. There's nothing to keep me here. All I have is a future with you.
Sam: Hmm. Please don't answer it. We're going to be out of here in a couple of hours. Is the answering machine on?
Sam: Ugh. Ok, I'll get it. Hello? Hey, Monica. Ok, I'll tell him. Thanks.
Jason: What happened?
Sam: Your sister's in the hospital.
Sonny: I thought I could help you by keeping you here.
Carly: No. No, you can. I feel safe when I'm with you, Sonny.
Sonny: You need treatment. I can't -- I don't have the training. I can't do it.
Carly: Ok, we'll give it time.
Sonny: No, if we give it time, then it's just going to get worse. I can't take that chance.
Carly: Come on, Sonny, you can't send me to Shadybrook. I mean, I -- it's -- I'll never survive.
Sonny: Carly --
Carly: It's awful there.
Sonny: I would never send you to that hellhole. But there is another place. It's called Roselawn. Sit down. Listen to me, it's -- it's completely different. The doctors and the staff, they -- they're kind, they're caring, and the patients are all comfortable, and, I mean, it's not like -- it's not like a hospital because they have -- it's a house with rooms, they've got a beautiful garden.
Carly: I'm scared.
Sonny: I'm scared. I know. I know. But you know what? Listen, I've been to the place, ok, and I talked to the doctors. It's a great place. You're going to get better, ok? And then you're going to come home, ok? You're going to come home and be with our sons.
Carly: Are you sure?
Sonny: You know what? I know you can do this.
Carly: I'll try. But before I go, I just -- I -- I want to say bye to Michael and Morgan.
Sonny: Yeah, ok. Ok. Come on.
Courtney: Yeah, the doctor just said that I probably picked up some kind of stomach flu, just like I thought. It's nothing to worry about.
Courtney: How are you doing, Jax?
Jax: I have my ups and downs, but it's getting easier every day. Well, good night.
Nikolas: The doctor really say there was nothing to worry about?
Nikolas: Or is there more that you didn't want to say in front of Jax?
Courtney: I'm fine, really.
Nikolas: Ok, good.
Courtney: How's -- how's Emily doing?
Nikolas: She's better, resting comfortably. With any luck, she'll be able to come home tomorrow.
Courtney: Well, that's a relief.
Nikolas: Yeah. Listen, I'm going to go -- go out of here for a cup of coffee. You want to come with me?
Courtney: Actually, I'm kind of tired. I think I'm just going to go home and go to bed.
Nikolas: Ok. Rain check?
Courtney: You know, maybe you should just go to the cafeteria and get coffee, maybe go back to Emilyís room. I mean, if she -- if she wakes up, she might need you.
Emily: Carly saw me in the park and she thought I was the woman who kidnapped her and Sonny's kids earlier this year. She came after me with this hand sickle that she found in some nearby gardening tools.
Jason: She stabbed you?
Emily: No, Jason, Carly realized her mistake and she dropped the hand sickle and, unfortunately, I lost my balance and I fell on top of it.
Jason: I'm glad you're ok.
Emily: Thanks. Listen, but I'm worried about Sonny, ok? He can't handle Carly. He's going to have to have her committed, and at the same time, he has to deal with Ruiz.
Jason: What -- what are you asking me?
Michael: That's cold, hard cash for the airport.
Mike: You own 80% of the prime real estate and so many office buildings, I can't even count.
Mike: 12. You know something, you're too much like your dad for me to ever, ever win this game.
Michael: You're giving up?
Mike: Yeah! What do you say we go back to --?
Sonny: Looks like he's playing Investment with Mike.
Carly: How much you want to bet he's winning?
Sonny: Yeah, you can count on that.
Sonny: Yeah. Do you want to say goodbye or --
Carly: Um -- I don't know. It was one thing saying goodbye to Morgan when he was sleeping, but I just -- he looks so happy. I don't want him worrying about me.
Sonny: Do you just want to go?
Carly: Um -- maybe I'll just watch him for a while?
Carly: I just want to see my boy happy.
Mike: You stinker.
[Knock on door]
Emily: You're my brother, Jason, and I want you to be safe and happy.
Jason: That's why Sam and I are leaving Port Charles.
Emily: What, you're leaving?
Jason: Emily, I -- I can't remember the life I lived here. Sam and I are going to start over.
Emily: But you have family here. You have commitments, you have obligations.
Jason: I have a job that I can't do anymore. I have to get out, and Sam wants to come with me.
Emily: Jason, look, no one deserves happiness more than you and Sam, but are you sure that you're going to find happiness by running away?
Sonny: Didn't I tell you the place is nice? And you know what? Once you've had some time and you've settled in, you know, it's not far from Port Charles, so we can just have the kids come. They can visit. I can bring Michael on the train. You know how much he loves trains.
Carly: And Morgan, too. He loves that little toy train that he has.
Sonny: You know, the grounds are nice, but we can go to Sinclair Falls, have a picnic there. I'll have, like, all your favorite foods -- hamburgers, cheese pizza, whatever you want, you know.
Carly: And carrot sticks for you and Morgan.
Sonny: Well, you know, can we help it if we're nature freaks, right? Um -- you're going to be all right, you know that, ok? The doctors are really good here and they're going to make you feel better, and then I'll have Michael and Morgan come visit.
Lainey: Carly, we're so glad you'll be staying here at Roselawn. This is Dr. Kim. He's going to give you a tour of the facilities.
Dr. Kim: And your room is right off the gardens. Do you like to take walks, Carly?
Carly: Yeah, yeah, my -- my son Michael and I take walks every day.
Dr. Kim: Then I'm sure you'll enjoy our walkways and reflecting pool.
Sonny: All right.
Lainey: Now might be a good time for you to leave.
Sonny: I'd like to say goodbye.
Lainey: I think it'd be less upsetting for Carly if you simply slipped away.
Sonny: I can't do it.
>> On the next "General Hospital" --
Jax: I wanted to set a few things straight between us.
Courtney: I guess it is time to get everything out in the open.
Emily: I'd never ask you to stay for me, but would you think about staying for yourself?
Javier: We're about to make our move on Corinthos.
Sonny: I can't do this. I'm taking Carly home.
