General Hospital Transcript Thursday 9/29/05
Proofread by Brian
Courtney: I -- I waited for you at the hospital, and finally the nurse told me that you left.
Courtney: How's Elizabeth?
Nikolas: Considering what she's gone through, she's pretty remarkable.
Courtney: I bet it helped having all her friends around.
Courtney: I assume everyone was there.
Nikolas: I'd say it definitely had a positive effect. That's really all that's important.
Courtney: I'm -- I don't know, am I hearing that it didn't help you?
Nikolas: I just -- I feel useless, you know? I can't get that baby back; I can't unbreak Elizabeth’s heart. I can't do a damned thing.
Jax: If you ever need anything, I don't want you to hesitate. You can call me. But to maintain even a social relationship, I think, will only remind us of the pain. Elizabeth, don't think for a second that I regret choosing you, ok? You're a wonderful person, and you would've -- you would've been the best mother to my child. But clearly it wasn't meant to be. So it's time to cut ties and move on.
Elizabeth: Jax, we created a life together. Is it realistic to think that we can just walk away like it never happened?
Jax: Oh, God. Maybe not, but it's what I need to do.
Javier: Jason Morgan.
Javier: You saved my life.
Jason: I thought they were aiming at me. I was told that I'm on somebody's hit list.
Javier: That'd be mine. Corinthos won't be pleased you stopped his gunman from taking me out.
Jason: Why shouldn't I do what Sonny wants?
Lainey: It's not going as well as I thought.
Sonny: Well, you know, she has good moments and she has bad moments.
Lainey: But her bad ones are worse than ever.
Sonny: I can still help her.
Lainey: Listen, like you, I thought that there was an advantage to her being here as opposed to an institutional situation. But she's increasingly paranoid, and frankly I'm really worried about her.
Sonny: Carly listens to me.
Lainey: Mr. Corinthos, you can deny it all you want. Carly's becoming a danger to herself and to others.
Ric: What happened?
Justus: What happened?
Ric: We heard a scream.
Sonny: Carly, wake up. Can we get her up?
Emily: No, no, no. Careful, careful, Sonny, she shouldn't be moved.
Sonny: Ok, check her pulse, would you?
Emily: It's rapid. What happened?
Sonny: I don't know.
Reese: She just came tumbling down the stairs.
Sonny: Hey. I'm right here. You all right? Huh?
Carly: Where are the boys?
Sonny: They're at the gatehouse.
Carly: Are you sure?
Emily: Yeah, I just left them with Leticia.
Carly: Leticia's no match for them. You've got to go get them.
Sonny: Carly, we --
Carly: Go get my boys! She's in the house!
Ric: Whoa, whoa, Carly, wait a minute. Who? Who?
Carly: Faith. I saw her at the top of the stairs. That's why I fell down, because I was trying to get away from her. She's after the children! Oh, God, we have to protect them! Why is everyone standing around looking at me? Go get my kids!
Lainey: We're going to have to calm her down.
Ric: Carly, listen, Reese and I are going to go out to the gatehouse and we're going to make sure that the boys are safe, all right?
Carly: I got to --
Ric: It'll be all right. Come on.
Sonny: No, no, no, no, you -- you're not going to get up right now.
Carly: I got to go get Michael and Morgan!
Sonny: You need to take it easy! You need to take it easy; that's what you need to do.
Carly: I don't care about myself.
Sonny: Well, I care about you, the boys care about you. They are safe! Listen to me! Carly! I promise you -- listen, you know what you need? Ok, have Lainey check you out --
Carly: I'm fine.
Sonny: No, no, you're not.
Carly: I'm fine.
Sonny: Just let me -- do it for me.
Justus: Sonny, Carly hit her head hard enough to knock herself out. We need to call 911.
Lainey: No sign of a concussion.
Sonny: Ok. Carly, listen to me, ok? You're going to have to be honest here. Listen to me.
Sonny: You're going to have to be honest here. If something's wrong with you, just say so and I will get you medical attention. But you know they're going to have to take you to the hospital.
Carly: No, you know -- no, I'm fine, actually. I feel fine. I just -- I just was a little shaken up, so maybe if I take a nap I'll be ok. Yeah, I'm fine. Can you help me up?
Emily: All right.
Carly: Oh -- oh, I think I twisted my ankle.
Emily: Ok, listen, I'll grab some ice.
Justus: No, no, Emily, I got it, don't worry about it.
Sonny: Can you take -- can you take her? It's ok, it's ok. Can you take her, please?
Emily: Yeah, yeah, come on, Carly.
Sonny: Emily, thank you.
Emily: Here, just put your weight on me.
Sonny: I'm going to talk to Lainey for a second, ok, Carly?
Lainey: Carly's gone untreated long enough. If you don't end this, I will.
Jason: Why'd you have to come here with your stupid vendettas? Why are you people always trying to kill each other?
Javier: You know how it works -- an eye for an eye. You and Sonny shot my --
Jason: There is no me and Sonny! As for your brother, he showed up at Sonny's one night, shot up his house. He didn't give a damn who was there -- what women, what kids.
Javier: Manny's rotting in a coma ward. Now, Sonny's got to pay for that.
Jason: Don't you get that this is pointless? They kill one of yours; you kill one of theirs. Before how long, till no one's left?
Javier: If that's what it takes.
Jason: You know what? That's fine. Wipe each other off the planet, but leave me out of it. Your wars have nothing to do with me. You understand that? Nothing.
Javier: I got it. That's twice you let me live. Now I owe you.
Jason: I don't want your gratitude. Just leave me alone.
Sam: I was worried, so I followed you. Who got shot?
Jason: It happened again.
Lainey: Not only is Carly becoming ragingly paranoid, but now she's delusional -- here, where you think she feels safe. Now, I realize that you're coming from a place of love and protection, but Carly is a ticking time bomb. She needs far more help than you can give her here. If you want to see your wife whole again, you will make sure that she gets it.
Reese: I can't stand Carly, and even I feel sorry for her these days.
Ric: The irony is that you finally commit to being with Sonny and just didn't realize that Carly is part of the package.
Reese: One big, happy family.
Ric: Yeah, well, Sonny realizes that his family is being threatened. That's when he's at his most dangerous. If he wants to take out Ruiz, it'll happen -- quickly and efficiently.
Reese: Well, that'll be one problem solved.
Sonny: I made Carly promises. I have to keep them.
Lainey: Even if it's at her expense?
Max: I need a word with you.
Sonny: Excuse me for one second.
Lainey: How's Carly?
Justus: She's calmer.
Lainey: Or that's what she wants us to believe.
Sonny: What the hell are you telling me, Max?
Max: The hit went wrong. Javier got away.
Sonny: What are you talking about? You told me you could handle it.
Max: I could've, if a certain someone wouldn't have played superhero and saved Javier at the last minute.
Sonny: "Someone" who?
Jason: I was so sure that the hit was meant for me and that this guy was going to get caught in the crossfire, I just reacted.
Sam: Well, that sounds right to me. You tried to save yourself and the life of an innocent bystander.
Jason: No, I saved -- I saved Ruiz, the guy who was out to kill me, Sonny, and Sonny's family, maybe even you.
Sam: Ok, look, I -- I think we should go home, ok? I should not have insisted on you carrying the gun.
Jason: No, Sam, I have to go to work.
Sam: I will call you in sick.
Jason: My first night?
Sam: Who --
Sam: There's your answer. Someone must have heard the shots and called the cops. They're going to come for you and Sonny first. They're going to drag you down there, and that is not going to be better than me calling you in sick. Please do not be difficult with me, and let me take care of you.
Nikolas: I guess I just didn't realize how central Elizabeth’s baby had become, how it was a thing that we all revolve around. Jax was so obsessed over it that it pushed you away and opened you up to a relationship with me, which contributed to the end of my marriage with Emily, and it was the foundation that Elizabeth and Lucky were going to build their future on and, you know, just like that it's over.
Courtney: Wow. You are really hanging a lot on a baby that wasn't even born yet, Nikolas.
Nikolas: Yeah, I know. You know what? I don't even know what I'm saying, so just take whatever comes out of my mouth with a grain of salt, all right?
Courtney: Look, I know exactly what Elizabeth is going through right now --
Nikolas: Oh, man.
Courtney: That hollow feeling inside. And, I don't know, I learned something from it, though. I did. I mean, it's not just the mother that it affects. The loss touches every person around her, especially the people that are closest to her, and that is Lucky, Emily, and you.
Courtney: Maybe you're also feeling some kind of delayed reaction from being around Emily.
Nikolas: It's possible, I guess.
Courtney: Look, Nikolas, what's done is done. Ok, I broke up with Jax, you broke up with Emily, and it all happened -- oh, God.
Courtney: No --
Nikolas: What's wrong? You all right?
Courtney: Mm-hmm. Apparently, my -- my motion sickness followed me home.
Courtney: I started feeling queasy at the lodge, and it just hasn't gone away.
Nikolas: Well, I have a little remedy that Elizabeth taught me.
Courtney: What, crackers?
Nikolas: Ginger ale.
Courtney: You have ginger ale?
Nikolas: I do.
Nikolas: It's in the kitchen. I'll go get you some.
Courtney: Look, I know everything's pretty strange right now. But just because we're home, it doesn't mean we'll -- well, it doesn't mean that we have to lose what we had on vacation. Right?
Emily: Faith Rosco was a horrible person, Carly, who did awful things to you and your family. But that's over now. Faith is dead.
Carly: I don't need you to patronize me.
Emily: That's not what I'm doing.
Carly: I'm not an invalid.
Carly: You think I'm making it up, don't you? Seeing Faith?
Emily: I think the mind can play tricks on a person when it comes to someone who terrorized their family. Carly, you just lost Sonny when Faith came along and stole your children, and she made you believe that you'd never see them again, that Michael was dead.
Carly: Yeah. And now I'm supposed to believe the same thing about Faith.
Emily: Carly, you need to stop obsessing over Faith. She can't hurt you unless you give her the power.
Carly: Yeah, um -- you know, you might fool Sonny with this whole mealy-mouth, innocent act, but you're not fooling me. I know what's really going on.
Emily: Nothing is going --
Carly: You know what? Don't -- don't insult my intelligence. You think I don't know what all these people are doing, what all these extra guards and sudden activity outside means? You think I don't know what that means? They're gearing up for Faith. Sonny knows that she's around and he's getting ready for her. But meanwhile, you stand here trying to convince me that she's dead while you have my boys in the guesthouse?
Emily: What are you getting at?
Carly: You're Faith's accomplice. You're how she got in.
Emily: You can't believe that, Carly.
Carly: No. No, I know that. You're trying to help Faith steal my kids again. Well, you know what? Know this -- I'm not going to let it happen.
Sam: I think we should have pizza for a change, don't --
Jason: Someone's here.
Sonny: If I wanted you dead, you'd be dead already, like Ruiz should be.
Jason: What are you doing here?
Sonny: What are you doing? You tell me you don't want any part of -- of me or my life. It was like my right hand was cut off, but I accept it and I let you walk away. Even if it meant that, you know, leaving myself and my family vulnerable to my enemies, even though it meant, you know, making it easy for Ruiz to come into my home, guns blazing. Everybody could've died. You don't care about that? I let you go, free and clear, and how do you repay me? You stick your nose in my business to my enemy's benefit. Well, I'm going to warn you right now. You get in the way of me dealing with Ruiz again, and I will have you taken out with him.
Jax: Dr. Meadows. Do you have a minute?
Dr. Meadows: What can I do for you, Jax?
Jax: Look, I realize this may be inappropriate -- doctor-patient confidentiality -- but I'm concerned. Will Elizabeth be able to have children?
Dr. Meadows: Well, I understand why you're asking, considering your involvement in her pregnancy, but I can't divulge that kind of information.
Jax: Right. Ok.
Dr. Meadows: However, I do plan on calling Elizabeth in the morning with some very happy news.
Jax: Oh, that's -- that's great. That's great.
Dr. Meadows: I have a patient in labor. And once again, I am sorry for your loss.
Emily: You're so wrong, Carly. First of all, Faith is dead. And second, if she were alive, I wouldn't help her out of the street if a truck was bearing down on her. I hated her as much as anyone.
Emily: She used innocent kids as tools for --
Carly: Where is she? I'm not going to let you take my kids away from me again. I will not let you do that! Tell me where she is! Where is she?
Emily: Let me go.
Carly: What are you planning?
Lainey: Carly, let Emily go!
Carly: What are you --?
Lainey: Carly! I've got this, I've got this. It's ok. Let her go.
Carly: Where is she?
Lainey: Let her go. It's ok, it's ok, it's ok. It's ok.
Emily: Nikolas, it's me. I -- listen, I know it's late, but I really need to see you. I can't go into it on your machine but, please, if you get this message tonight, meet me on the pier. I'm headed there now.
Sam: How dare you threaten Jason in his own house.
Sonny: Sam, stay out of it. Stay out of it, please.
Jason: I can handle this.
Sam: No, you shouldn't have to. You didn't do anything wrong, and you ought to know that. Jason didn't deliberately sabotage your hit on Ruiz! He thought he was going to get shot at and an innocent bystander was going to get hit. He reacted in the moment, a habit he perfected by working for you!
Sonny: This isn't about you, Sam. You got to understand that.
Sam: No, what I understand, Sonny, is that you're a selfish jerk.
Jason: Sam --
Jason: Never speak to Sam like that again. You got a problem with me, bring it. You don't need to take it out on her.
Sonny: You don't understand what's going on here. My life is coming off the rails. When I need my partner most, he's not around. They say you never miss a good thing until it's gone. But it wasn't like that with me. I knew I always hit the jackpot with you. You were more than a friend, closer than a brother. Perfect fit, personally and professionally. I always knew that I could depend on you, trust you above others, and now my life is falling apart. And you go AWOL? Carly is spinning out of control. I got this animal Ruiz who's determined to kill me, and he's relentless, and he's not going to stop coming after me until one of us is gone, and I'm too distracted to pay attention. I got no one to stop them!
Jason: There's you. Why can't -- I don't understand why can't that be enough?
Sonny: Because it never is. I don't know why. It just never is.
Jason: Look, I'm sorry for, you know, what you're going through. I can't help you. I can't fix this. I told you I'm out. I meant it when I said it, and I mean it now.
Sonny: I was out of line, and I apologize. But, you know, my life is just -- and I got to get, you know -- I used to be able to count on him, and right now he doesn't want to be that person, so that's why -- I don't know. I apologize. What can I say?
Sam: Hey, I -- I appreciate it, and I know he will, too.
Sonny: I think you really need to be careful, because I don't think Jason can protect himself anymore.
Carly: Ok, if you don't believe me, why don't you just ask Sonny? He knows Faith is around.
Lainey: No, Carly, she's not. Faith is dead. I don't have anything to gain by saying that. I don't want anything from Sonny or from you.
Carly: Everybody wants something.
Lainey: Fair enough. What I want is to understand what's going on with you. Tell me why Faith has suddenly appeared. What does she represent to you?
Carly: When somebody steals your children, takes them away from you, it's the most helpless feeling that you can imagine. They don't see them as the precious lives that they are, but just as instruments for revenge. If it weren't for Sonny --
Carly: I was so tired. Lifting my head off the pillow in the morning took every bit of strength that I had. I just -- I don't know, I just wanted it to end -- the pain, the emptiness, the constant fear. I wanted to die. Have you ever wanted to die?
Carly: Well, then you know. That's how I feel right now. I can't get any traction in my life. My anchor is gone.
Lainey: You mean Sonny? But he's right here. He's doing everything he can to help you.
Carly: Yeah. But not -- not because he loves me. It's out of obligation or duty or something. Everything I've ever cared about or that mattered to me I've lost. I just want to die.
Reese: Even in this crisis, Sonny and Carly’s bond is palpable. And here's one for the books. At times, I even find myself rooting for them.
Ric: Come on. What, are you kidding me?
Reese: They have what everyone is searching for.
Reese: They have a love that survives whatever life throws at it -- divorce, indifference, a custody battle, other lovers, insanity. They've walked through the fires of hell and they've come out holding hands. And as much as I hate it, Carly still has a place in Sonny's heart, and she probably always will.
Ric: Kind of like Jason, only thing is he doesn't want it. So here we are, right? On the sidelines, odd man out.
Reese: And you sound so calm about it.
Ric: Hmm, acceptance is a beautiful thing, my dear. I highly recommend it. Look, it doesn't mean that you don't keep trying to find your place in Sonny's world. Just know your limitations.
Lucky: Listen, I can watch him for a minute if you need a break.
Elizabeth: No, this is good, just the three of us. I'm sorry. Oh, my poor little boy. He's been picking up on all sorts of weird vibes lately. Your mama was going to surprise you with a little brother or sister. It just didn't work out. I guess sometimes things just don't, no matter how much you want them to. But I still have you, and Lucky. And there's definitely no shortage of love here.
Courtney: I'm so glad that Elizabeth is going to be ok.
Jax: Yeah, yeah, me, too. You know, if this tragedy could be any worse, it would be that Elizabeth couldn't give Lucky a child, like what happened with you.
Courtney: I'm coming to terms with it.
Jax: I should have never pushed the surrogacy. I should have realized that it would stir things up for you. I should have just been content with what we had. You know, I'm sorry. You know, I probably would have found some other way to ruin it anyway. You know, I don't really get it. My parents were the perfect marital role models. And I don't know, maybe I try to outdo them instead of reflect them.
Courtney: Yeah, well, maybe you're just not cut out to be a husband. I mean, why limit yourself by being conventional, right? Or feel less than because you don't fit the norm? I was in that place for way too long, and I'm telling you, it's a pretty dark and lonely place to be in. I don't want to visit it again.
Courtney: Anyway, happy endings for all of us next time, right?
Jax: Yeah, maybe.
Emily: You came.
Nikolas: It sounded important.
Emily: It is. At least to me. Nikolas, there are things that I've been wanting to say -- trying to say, and the timing never seemed right, and I think it finally is. I've come to a few realizations, and I thought it was only fair to share them with you.
Emily: Nikolas, I've been holding on to just so much anger, and I realized tonight that it's pointless, not to mention paralyzing and counterproductive.
Nikolas: Yeah, yeah, it is, but you know what? You have every right to be angry. I should have been more sensitive to everything that happened to you.
Emily: No, you were. Nikolas, that's just it. I was the one with unrealistic expectations of you. I thought our love was so strong that it could work miracles, that it didn't need any help, that you'd sit by patiently, no matter how long it took and just wait for me to say, "The spell's broken, you can approach me now." But Courtney didn't come between us. I did. I gave Connor and Mary Bishop all the access they needed to destroy us, and then I wrapped myself up in denial and I laid down in the wreckage. And that wasn't fair to either one of us, Nikolas, and I'm so sorry. And I just wanted you to know that.
Nikolas: No, Emily, you don't have to apologize --
Emily: No, please, don't say anything. Just promise me that we can honor what we had together by putting down the acrimony and walking away with as much love between us as we walked in with.
Nikolas: Ok. That's a promise that I am happy to make to you.
Elizabeth: You're awfully quiet. Are you ok?
Lucky: I'm just sorry about everything, the way I fought with you and Jax over the surrogacy thing because of my foolish pride, just for not getting married that night, for not being at the hospital to take you home.
Elizabeth: We're exactly where we're supposed to be, whether it makes sense to us or not.
Lucky: Elizabeth Webber, always practical.
Elizabeth: Well, it doesn't help to dwell on choices made that can't be changed. We're still together. We have this beautiful little boy. We have an awful lot to be grateful for.
Jax: I know it's been a long day and I'm breaking rules I set, but I have wonderful news. I spoke with Dr. Meadows. You'll be able to have children.
Elizabeth: Dr. Meadows said that?
Jax: Not in so many words, but the implication was very clear.
Elizabeth: I can get pregnant again. Thank you, Jax. Thanks.
Sam: You ok?
Jason: When Sonny was talking to me, for the first time, I looked in his eyes and I recognized them. There was a flash of something, you know, a connection I couldn't feel before.
Sam: That's good.
Jason: Is it?
Jason: What if that part of me comes back? What do I do? Do I go back to killing?
Reese: What happened with Jason?
Sonny: Uh -- I lost it. I -- I didn't even give him a chance to defend himself. I said to him that if he got in the way again that I would kill him. I actually said --
Lainey: I'm not comfortable with this.
Justus: What? The fact that you sanctioned home therapy, or is it the fact that you're in the home of an alleged mobster on red alert from a rival family? Or maybe the fact that I look the other way and defend him in court?
Lainey: No, none of the above. I meant leaving Carly.
Justus: You know, you -- you showed Carly a lot of compassion, and don't tell me you were just doing your job. I have a feeling it goes deeper than that.
Sonny: How's Carly?
Lainey: Not good, Sonny. Look, I know you don't want to hear this.
Sonny: I'm not going to send her to -- I can't send her to Shadybrook.
Lainey: There are other ones, like this one, Roselawn. Dr. Brad Kim runs it. He's a colleague of mine. Give him a call, tour the facility, but please don't wait. The next person Carly hurts can easily be herself. Walk me out?
Reese: Hey. Come here.
Lucky: Is my dancing that bad?
Elizabeth: Oh. Come on, you know I love dancing with you.
Lucky: Then what is the matter?
Elizabeth: I'm just happy, grateful for so many reasons. How many people are fortunate enough to be surrounded by so much love and hope, family and friends? How many people are with the one person in all the world they were meant to love? I keep thinking what a great day it'll be when I can tell the man I love I'm pregnant with his baby.
Singers: When I look into your eyes I know that it's true. God must have spent a little more time on you.
Man: We take a gentle approach here. We feel in order to affect recovery, the resident has to feel safe, bond with a professional they grow to trust.
Woman: Marty? Oh! Where's Sarah? Did you bring my little girl?
Dr. Kim: Regina, this isn't Marty. Why don't you wait for me in the garden room? We'll talk. I won't be long.
Sonny: What was that about?
Dr. Kim: Regina's husband and daughter were killed by a drunk driver several months ago. Despite how it may look, she's made amazing progress. Before she came to us, every man she saw became the driver of that car. She'd go for their throats. So, what do you think, Mr. Corinthos? Is Roselawn a place where your ex-wife might find the help she needs?
Ric: Carly? Carly, I'm going to go downstairs for a minute, ok?
Justus: All right, I'll check in first thing in the morning.
Max: Hey, good enough. Thanks a lot.
Justus: Ok. Jason. It's ok. Do you want to come in? But you're here. Maybe -- maybe it's something you need to do.
Jason: I can’t.
Michael: Well, you think mom would want some of this?
Emily: Oh, you know, it's late, Michael, and she's finally sleeping. We shouldn't disturb her.
Faith: Come with me now and we'll be sure to see mommy first thing in the morning, ok?
>> On the next "General Hospital" --
Courtney: There's something we need to talk about.
Sam: If you want to go back to work for Sonny, then that's fine. Either way, I love you.
Lainey: Carly is deteriorating by the hour.
Emily: How'd you sleep?
Faith: You need to take it easy today.
