Lucky: I promise you I will be a good father to this baby, Elizabeth.
Elizabeth: I know you will. But are you sure you can share that with Jax?
[Knock on door]
Elizabeth: I'll get it.
Lucky: No --
Elizabeth: I'll get it.
Elizabeth: Jax, hi. Lucky and I are still discussing the joint custody issues and then I have to get to work, so --
Lucky: Listen, Jax isn't here to see you, Elizabeth. I asked him to stop by.
Nikolas: Feel like an obligation to you?
Courtney: More like heaven. God, the way I feel in your arms. So what do we do now?
Nikolas: I don't know. Are we crazy enough to find out where this takes us?
Sonny: Is Sam here? Good, we got a lot to discuss. There's a good chance Ruiz survived. Ok, but even if he dies, the Ruiz family is still going to try to retaliate against us, so what I want you to do, Jason, I want you to make a move --
Jason: I'm done. I'm done killing for you. I'm done, ok? I don't want any part of you or your business or your life.
Sonny: I don't get what you're talking about. You just took out Ruiz and his family --
Jason: No, I did it out of reaction! I didn't do it for you! And that was the last time.
Sam: I tried to show Jason the good parts of his life, the reasons why he protected everyone, why we all love him, but he can't seem to connect to anything.
Emily: Well, nobody can force you to feel what isn't there. Look, Sam, I don't want to lose Jason, either. He's my brother, I love him, I need his advice now more than ever, but we can't make him stay in Port Charles if it's not what he wants.
Sam: I just don't know what to do anymore.
Emily: Except love him enough to let him go.
Sam: I don't think I can.
Emily: I'm the last one who should advise you on anything. But truthfully, if anyone can help Jason remember, it's going to be you.
Sam: You're right. You're right, Emily, I have to convince Jason that I can help him. And that's it. Right?
Emily: I hope it works, yeah. Hey, Carly. I didn't hear you.
Carly: I can be quiet when I choose to.
Emily: What's that behind your back?
Carly: It's something private that Michael made for me.
Emily: He loves you so much.
Carly: He's my little man.
Emily: You're cheerful.
Carly: Yeah, well, today's a good day.
Emily: Really? What's so special about it?
Carly: Um, nothing really. It's hard to explain. Ask me tomorrow. Are those sapphires?
Emily: These? Uh, yes.
Carly's voice: "Something borrowed, something blue."
Carly: Could you ever forgive me?
Emily: For what?
Carly: I haven't been very nice to you. I resented the fact that you were Jasonís sister and that meant you could be close to him, and that was my job, and I said some pretty terrible things. I want a fresh start for my new life.
Emily: Do you feel like you're getting a new life?
Carly: What's important is forgiveness. I think it's just as important as love, don't you? With forgiveness, everything is new. So could you -- I mean, could you forgive me? I mean --
Emily: Of course.
Carly: Great. Um, could I borrow your earrings? I mean, just for today. They're so pretty. And I haven't felt pretty in a long time.
Emily: No, no, Carly, of course you can borrow them. Just promise me that you'll be careful?
Carly: I promise.
Carly: Thanks. And I'll get them back to you right after --
Emily: After what? Carly?
Carly: After today. This is a turning point for me, Emily. Today is the start of me finally being ok.
Jason: You don't have to worry about security. I don't remember anything I did for you, so there's nothing for me to tell.
Sonny: That's not an issue. Sure, I trusted you with my business. But that's -- what we have goes way beyond that.
Jason: Yeah, I know. I know, we're supposed to be friends. But I'm not real clear how someone asks a friend to do the things I did for you. And apparently, I was grateful for some reason.
Sonny: You weren't somebody who watched my back or my family for a paycheck. You're like a brother to me.
Reese: What did the doctor say?
Ric: Oh, my wound reopened. Don't worry. Stitched me up. I'll be fine.
Reese: Did he mention the part where if you had just stayed in bed this time instead of --
Ric: Instead of trying -- trying to impress my brother, right? Attempting to out-Jason Jason.
Reese: You're a hero. You saved Jasonís life.
Ric: You know when Ruiz pressured me to -- to drop the gun, I thought, this is definitely a low moment, you know. I don't even have what it takes to save my own life.
Reese: Oh, come on.
Ric: But then I picked up the gun and I shot him. Suddenly I sunk to a whole new low.
Jax: Still not sure about the custody, right? Look, I get it, Lucky.
Lucky: Do you?
Jax: I do. If I were in your shoes, just seeing the woman I love carry a child for another man would be difficult enough. But shared custody -- that man is always going to be a presence. Doubly threatening.
Lucky: Especially when that man has a reputation for seducing women.
Lucky: This is when you're supposed to reassure me that I have nothing to worry about.
Jax: Oh, I'm sorry. You -- you have nothing to worry about, Lucky. Besides, Elizabeth is totally devoted to you, ok, so no worries.
Lucky: I'm glad you recognize that. I think this whole joint custody is a bad idea. For one reason, you know what, I didn't trust this whole thing when it started. And I trust you even less with Courtney gone.
Jax: Well, then you leave me no choice. I find women that have crazy busy lives... I'll make this simple so even you can understand it. If you try to cut me out of my baby's life, I will take this child -- legally, permanently, end of story.
Lucky: No, you canít.
Jax: No? If you push me, Lucky, I'll do whatever it takes, including showing the court that Elizabeth is an unfit mother.
Lucky: Well, how are you going to do that?
Jax: When I'm done dragging her through the mud, no one will believe otherwise. From her love affair with Jason Morgan, a known hit man, to having a child out of wedlock with a criminal like Zander Smith, and then shacking up with you.
Lucky: What, a cop? Explain how that looks bad.
Jax: A cop who's been suspended for misconduct, up to his neck in debt, who encouraged his lover to get pregnant for money. And these are just the facts, Lucky. I'm not even digging up any dirt.
Jax: Do you understand how dangerous this can be for Elizabeth to go to court? Not only will she lose my child, the courts may decide that Cameron is better off in foster care.
Lucky: That sounds like blackmail. I wonder what Elizabeth would think if I told her.
Jax: I'll explain to Elizabeth how threatened you are by me. I'm sure she'll believe me.
Lucky: Well, in case that she doesn't believe you, you know, I guess we could just let her hear for herself.
Ric: It's not like I don't have a dark side, I do. I just -- and I struggle to keep that in check all the time. It's just knowingly and willingly picking up a gun and attempting to take the life of a -- of a complete stranger. I just keep seeing Ruizís face over and over again. At the moment that he realized it, I shot him.
Reese: I remember the first time I had to kill a man. He was a child molester, and he was holding this little girl hostage, and he said he would kill her if we didn't let him go free. I did what I had to do.
Ric: So did you save her, the girl?
Reese: Yeah, the same way you saved Jason. And then my knees turned to butter and the blood drained out of my head and I wanted to throw up.
Ric: Yeah, I doubt I'll ever pick up a gun again.
Reese: Ric, the man that you shot was a horrible excuse for a human being.
Ric: Yeah, but he was a man and he was a human being nonetheless. He's comatose, Reese. He's not likely to ever regain consciousness.
Reese: Ok, and what would have happened if you hadn't picked up that gun and you hadn't fired it? How many people do you think Ruiz would've killed? Certainly Jason and probably Sam and me and you.
Ric: Is that how you balance it out?
Reese: And where would that have left that little baby that your wife is carrying? Or Kristina? Come on, Ric. If you had it to do all over again, would you really have made a different choice?
Sonny: 10 years ago you walked into my place of business --
Jason: Yeah, I know, I've heard -- I've heard it all.
Sonny: But not from me. Whether you owe me or not, give me at least that. All those years ago you came into my nightclub, and in the middle of the band's second set, you threw a fit. Broke furniture, threw things. You pretty much had a meltdown.
Sonny: Why? Because people were trying to force you to be someone you werenít.
Jason: Except for you.
Sonny: Well, I related. I have a temper and I'm not always what people expect me to be. And when I told you that I know what it feels like to get so angry you want to break something, you asked me if I was brain damaged, too. Since then, that was it.
Jason: And somehow I became your hit man. See, that's the part I'm really having a hard time trying to understand.
Sonny: You went from being alone to having a family. My youngest son, Morgan, is your Godson, your namesake, and Michael worships the ground you walk on. And you are the only other person aside from my sons that Carly would throw herself in front of a train for, if she was in the state of mind to make that decision.
Jason: I wish I could say that meant something to me.
Sonny: Yeah, well, you know what? I'm standing here trying to figure out myself how I'm going to tell Michael that you don't care about him anymore.
Jason: I don't know. He seems like a good kid. Answer me one question. Did I enjoy my work?
Sonny: You were great at it. The one thing you lost in the accident was fear. You were never scared. I think the more you pushed the envelope, the more you needed to feel that adrenaline rush. First time you offered to pick up a gun for me, I tried really hard to talk you out of it, but you didn't want any part of it, so I respected your decision.
Jason: Yeah, a lot of people blame you for turning me into who I was.
Sonny: Hey, you know what? The things we think -- they're more complicated than that. I offered you a job as a courier so you could get your life together. My first wife had died. She was murdered. You didn't judge me. You stepped right into a vacuum and you did what had to be done. So, did I turn you into a killer? I don't know. That's something you're going to have to figure out in your head. Maybe you will figure it out or maybe it doesn't matter. But you're my brother, and I will respect whatever decision you make, including the one you're going to make right now.
Jason: Thank you.
Sonny: You need to get out of Port Charles. It's not safe for you here. If you want to live, you need to leave.
Jason: I'm not sure why, but I do -- I do want to live.
Sonny: Good. So maybe you'll have a breakthrough, you'll remember, and then you'll know it's safe to come home. I just want to tell you, you can always come home.
Jax: What do you plan to do? Run to Elizabeth like a smug little boy and tattle on me? Go ahead, try. We'll be in court by this time next week.
Lucky: Well, believe it or not, I don't want Elizabeth to hear this tape. I mean, she still believes that the father of her child has some shred of decency.
Jax: Let me get this straight. It's perfectly ok for you to threaten to keep my child from me, but if I stand up for my rights, I have no decency? Do you see what a hypocrite you are?
Lucky: Listen, I don't care about you, Jax, all right? All I do care about is Elizabethís happiness.
Jax: Then what's your point?
Lucky: The tape. It's insurance. Well, it won't get played as long as you're an ideal dad and a perfect gentleman to Elizabeth. Call me crazy, but I don't think you want the mother of your child to hate you.
Nikolas: I'm sorry.
Emily: Listen, ok, please don't try to explain or apologize or anything. It's just another horribly awkward moment, and something tells me it won't be the last.
Nikolas: Well, regardless, in the future, we'll try to be a little more discreet in our respective --
Emily: Look, we have lives to lead now. Nikolas, we're adults and we're pretty clear on how everyone feels. Uh, at least I am, so there's no need to hide the fact that you are what you are. When I told you that I wished you well, I -- I meant it.
Courtney: Emily, I just want you to know --
Emily: That doesn't mean I'm your new best friend, Courtney. It just means that I understand that a situation occurred, and since no one can change any of it, we might as well just make the adjustment. Truly all I want is for everyone just to move past this and find some joy in their lives. I have to get back to work, but feel free to pick up where you left off. Bye.
Nikolas: All right. We can't -- we can't do this anymore, ok? We just --
Courtney: How do you want to handle it?
Nikolas: We need time to breathe and we can't do it here, ok? It just seems like every time we turn around somebody else gets hurt, and we need to fix that.
Nikolas: Come on, I'll show you how.
Ric: I'm sure you got better things to do than to sit around here and babysit me.
Reese: Actually, no.
Reese: Especially now that you've proven you can't be trusted.
Ric: Hey, I got no intention of leaving this hospital bed. Believe me. Thanks a lot. You gave me a lot of things to think about.
Reese: Well, sleep now, think tomorrow.
John: Florence Nightingale. Sweet.
Reese: Ric's resting. If you want to question him about the Ruiz shooting, it's going to have to wait till tomorrow.
John: Nah, that won't be necessary. I know that Lansing is involved. And I can prove it.
Sonny: I saw Jason.
Sam: Just tell me you got through to him.
Sonny: He's done with me, his job, all of it. I told him to leave town.
Sam: Sonny, how could you? No, I got to stop him!
Sonny: No, no, no, wait! Wait a minute.
Sam: No --
Sonny: Listen to me. Jason has to leave. You have to stay behind.
Nikolas: Here we go. I got it. There.
Courtney: Oh, God. Nikolas, it's beautiful.
Courtney: Yeah, wherever we are.
Nikolas: It's an island in a warm place. No names, no deadlines, no nothing.
Courtney: No Port Charles.
Nikolas: Exactly. We can be whoever we want to be, including ourselves.
Courtney: No one to walk in on us unexpectedly?
Courtney: Give us dirty looks or question our motives. No one to get hurt. Oh, God. Oh, Nikolas, thank you so much for bringing us here.
Nikolas: You're welcome. I just wanted us to spend some time together without all the drama, you know?
Courtney: No, the only drama here is this view.
Courtney: What? What?
Nikolas: Nothing. You're just beautiful.
Courtney: Oh, God, I thought that maybe there was, like, a scorpion on me or something.
Nikolas: Oh. Something new to know about Courtney -- she doesn't know how to take compliments. What, are you too modest or something?
Courtney: Well, I usually find them hard to believe.
Nikolas: No. Well, we'll have to work on that because, see, I don't say things I don't mean.
Courtney: Really? Wow.
Nikolas: Ah, it's --
Courtney: What? What, you don't like it?
Nikolas: No, it's supposed to be the rainy season.
Courtney: Yeah? So? We got lucky.
Nikolas: I just -- I just had this vision of us out here on the terrace, me undressing you slowly -- or quickly, depending on what you're into -- and us making love out here in the rain. It just -- I don't know -- it sounded like a cleansing thing to do. What do you think?
Courtney: Something new to learn about Nikolas. You're not a traditionalist.
Courtney: Uh-uh, not even a little.
Courtney: All right then, so we're just going to have to compensate for the good weather. What do you say -- midnight swim? Walk on the beach?
Nikolas: Dinner on the pier?
Courtney: You know, I heard music coming from that cafe near the square. We could dance underneath the stars if that isn't too traditional for you.
Nikolas: Why don't we just make love like I said, and maybe the rain will come anyway just to please us?
Sam: You are crazy. I would never let Jason leave without me. His life is at stake! He could have a seizure or a brain aneurysm. What if he doesn't take his pills, Sonny?
Sonny: That's not the only thing that can kill him, Sam. Jason's enemies, my enemies, are gunning down for him. You'll just slow him down.
Sam: I've been through this! I've been on the run before! You know that.
Sonny: These people are lethal. You'll be a distraction and you're going to get both of you killed.
Sam: No, I can protect him.
Sonny: You think I want Jason to leave? I'd do anything to change what happened -- not just for me, but for Michael, for Emily, for Carly. She's unraveling before my eyes. I don't know what to do. I can't figure out what's going on. Usually, she'd be able to turn to Jason and he'd be able to figure it out.
Sam: Exactly. So why aren't you fighting for him?
Sonny: Because I canít. He's got to fight for himself. He's got to make his own decisions.
Sam: He canít. Sonny, he is so lost. He needs me.
Sonny: I understand how much this hurts you. I know what you've done for Jason, what he's done for you. But I'm telling you, you got to let him go.
Sam: I canít. Sonny, I can't let him go.
Sonny: You know, the people who cared about him most -- you know what they did? They thought by shoving down his throat how much they loved him that he would see the light. But he felt more damaged, more inadequate. This may be the hardest thing I ever have to ask you to do, but you need to back off him and you need to leave him alone.
Sam: What if he decides to stay?
Sonny: Then he's going to be tied down to a life he doesn't want, and you will just be a painful reminder of what he can't have.
John: We recovered a piece of duct tape from the bench in the park. It had gun oil on it, as if to tape a gun in a hiding place yet still be accessible.
Reese: Well, that's a pretty big "as if."
John: No, no, I'm pretty sure that Lansing and I are watching the same late-night movies on cable. It's -- it's not a new trick. The tape also had fine human hairs, most probably from the arm or the wrist.
Reese: Well, then I'm sure you'll run it through your lab and come up with some ridiculous conclusion.
John: No, it's Lansingís. So far, that fact is only known by me, and now you.
Reese: And if there were any truth to that at all, you'd have him in handcuffs right now.
John: Information is currency. The lab report on that tape could be worth a bundle. It could buy me something very valuable.
Reese: Right, like Sonny. Or better yet, Carly. You know, you really should learn a different tune, Durant.
John: No, no, Reese, you see, you couldn't be more wrong. Because what I really want is you.
Elizabeth: Hey. So the sitter showed up?
Lucky: Yeah, just in time to give Cameron his supper.
Elizabeth: Oh, good. Oh, you realize that leaving you and Jax together was a total leap of faith?
Lucky: Well, you'll be happy to know that Jax and I are on the same page. We agreed that joint custody is the way to go.
Elizabeth: Really? Lucky, this is the best decision for every-- thank you for hearing Jax out. You'll see he's not such a bad guy.
Jax: Thanks for the info. No, I don't know what I'll do. Ok. Hey. You waiting for the launch to Wyndermere?
Emily: Unfinished business with Nikolas.
Jax: Yeah, I was going to go over and see Courtney myself. Unfortunately, we're both out of luck. I just found out that my wife and your husband have flown off to an island in paradise.
Courtney: I was thinking that maybe we could go surfing?
Nikolas: What? Surfing?
Courtney: Yeah. What?
Nikolas: No --
Courtney: There's a sign in the lobby that says they give lessons, and I -- unless you don't want to go. That's fine.
Nikolas: No, no, it's not that. It's just I've never -- I've never considered surfing before, that's all.
Courtney: Well, I mean, you're obviously athletic.
Courtney: And you like the water. I bet you'd be good at it.
Nikolas: Paddling out into the sea standing on a board and calling each other "dude"? I don't --
Courtney: Well, you can leave out the "dude" part. That's --
Nikolas: Have you ever surfed before?
Courtney: No. No, that's why I thought we could try it together, something new for the both of us.
Nikolas: Ok. All right, fine. We'll -- we'll surf, but I swear --
Nikolas: If we get out into the water and you miraculously know how to, like, ride a wave or rip a current or whatever you all call it --
Courtney: I swear I donít.
Nikolas: I'm -- I'm telling you, if we get out there --
Nikolas: And you know how to surf and you make me look like an idiot --
Courtney: What are you going to do? What are you going to do? Hmm?
Nikolas: I'll think of something.
Courtney: Like what?
Reese: You never learn, Durant. You've been pressuring me to spy on Sonny since I arrived in Port Charles. I'm not interested.
John: I never said that I wanted Sonny. I said that I wanted you.
Reese: Oh, I can't even tell you how that repulses me.
John: New rule -- you can't nail Corinthos, you nail his main squeeze.
Reese: You are revolting.
John: Metro Court Hotel, Room 517. Half an hour. Wear heels.
Reese: What makes you think I would agree?
John: Because if you don't, Little Ricky in there is going to go to prison, and how long do you think a college boy like Lansing will last at Pentonville? He will be somebody's wife within a week. Ouch.
Sam: You're still here. I talked to Sonny.
Jason: I have to leave.
Sam: I know. What matters most is that you're safe, and if I ever, ever jeopardize that on any level, I would never be able to forgive myself.
Jason: I just -- you know, I don't want to go back to what I was. I just need to figure out who I want to be.
Sam: I know. And I know that whoever you find, he will be wonderful. He will be kind and loving and funny when he doesn't even know it.
Jason: You're not going to fight me?
Sam: No. I hate the idea of you going into the world without me, but I love you. And you need to decide for yourself. I'm not going to stand in your way.
Jason: Thank you.
Sam: But before you go, Jason, there is one thing that I want to say, ok?
[Knock on door]
John: Come in.
Reese: It's a little hot for a coat.
John: Very hot. Ooh. You must really love him.
Reese: Excuse me?
John: Ric. I mean, look at you.
Reese: Ric is Sonny's brother.
John: Yeah, well, there's something to be said for keeping it in the family.
Reese: Is that what does it for you, John? A little fantasy of me involving two brothers?
John: I'm way too self-involved for that. But I have always pegged you as a girl with a bad boy fetish.
Reese: You're right. I like the bad boys.
John: Oh, no, no, no, no. Keep those on.
Reese: You like that, don't you, bad boy? What else do you like? You like the lights off or on?
John: Oh, you keep them just as they are.
Reese: Well, drink up, bad boy. Mmm.
John: Oh, yeah.
Reese: I like it when you do what you're told. You have been naughty, haven't you, John?
John: Ooh, yeah, only in the best possible way.
Reese: You know what happens to naughty boys, don't you?
John: Mm-hmm. F.B.I. issue?
Reese: Oh, of course. Only the best for you.
John: Ooh, tight, tight, tight -- yeah. Oh, mama. Oh, mama.
Reese: Excuse me.
John: Ain't nothing like the sound of lockdown.
John: "Plink, plink, plink."
John: Let the monsters loose.
Reese: Oh, these are on nice and tight for you there?
John: Yeah. Oh, yeah.
Reese: So, have you thought of an appropriate punishment?
John: Oh, baby. You are right on target.
John: Ooh, you little tease, you, huh?
Reese: Uh-huh. Hey, John, you know that game where I tie you up and then I walk out and I let you wonder how long before I come back and finish business?
Reese: This isn't that game.
John: Reese? Reese, damn it! Reese, after I'm done with Lansing, I'm going to come after you. You are going to rot!
Reese: Oh, yeah? Yeah? I think I'm going to be laughing about this for a very long time. Oh, hold still.
John: [Muffled] You're going to rot in hell! You understand me? Reese, get back here. I'll find you! I will hunt you down and I will destroy you! Oh, God.
Reese: Do not disturb. Sweet dreams, John. Nighty-night.
John: You're dead.
Sam: Don't worry, I haven't changed my mind. I just -- I wanted to thank you.
Jason: You don't -- you don't have to --
Sam: No, Jason, this isn't for you. This is for me. I need you to hear this. And maybe someday this will be important to you. I want to thank you for giving me a life when the one I had was meaningless. And I know I already told you the big, important stuff like when my baby died and showing me how to love again and giving me a home. But there are some things that I forgot to say. Thank you for your patience. You may not remember this, but I have this tendency to just ramble. Like now, I guess. You just sort of let me talk until I figure it out, you know? Whatever it is that I'm trying to say. But I guess what I'm trying to say is my life -- it won't be the same without you. But because you once loved me, I think I can find the strength to be ok. And I will still hope every day that you will remember what we shared and you'll want to come back to me. But if that day never comes, at least you'll have this memory. And you'll know what you meant to me.
Jason: Sam --
Sam: Jason, donít. Please. Unless the next words out of your mouth are "I love you and I'm staying," I just -- I don't want to hear it. Don't forget your extra pills, ok? These are really important.
Sonny: Carly, what are --?
Carly: Donít. Don't say anything. Father Coates is going to be here any second. All you have to say is "I do."
>> On the next "General Hospital" --
Elizabeth: I'm really glad that you and Jax came to an agreement.
Jax: Do you think that Courtney and Nikolas are in love?
Sam: Jason just left. He's not coming back.
Jason: Just say a prayer for your mom, ok?
