General Hospital Transcript Friday 8/19/05

Dante: What do you want to do with him?
Allegra: Take him back to the cellar.
Jason: I don't care anymore. I'll snap her neck if you don't back up. Where is Sam?
Sam: I'm not quite sure rushing into marriage is such a good idea, Andrew. I haven't been completely honest with you about everything.
Sonny: Yeah, I just -- hey, I just need to speak to you as soon as possible. Yeah. Can you come by, Ric? What -- what's this?
Carly: Makings for a picnic. You and I are taking Michael and Morgan to the park. Reese is out of your life, thank God, Lorenzoís out of mine, and it's time that we reconnected as a family.
Sonny: Carly, are you out of your mind?
Pilot: We're going to be making our final approach to Port Charles. Make sure your seat belts are fastened and sit tight until we reach the gate.
Emily: Home already. Hmm.
Jax: You don't seem too thrilled about that.
Emily: No, because once we land, I'm going to have to face the next thing and I have no idea what that is.
Jax: Well, I know what I'm doing. I'm divorcing Courtney.
Courtney: Maybe you should go and find Emily.
Nikolas: Why, so she can call me a liar again?
Courtney: This is all my fault.
Nikolas: Courtney, you weren't here alone.
Courtney: Yeah, but I shouldn't even have been here at all and I wouldn't be if it weren't for my insecurities about the surrogacy.
Nikolas: Stop it.
Courtney: I mean, God.
Nikolas: We didn't sleep together.
Courtney: Does it matter?
Nikolas: You know what? We've already been tried and convicted, right? Our marriages are basically rubble on the ground. So, yeah, why should we care what happens next?

Emily: Are you kidding?
Jax: Does it look like I am?
Emily: You could leave Courtney just like that?
Jax: There comes a time when you have to face reality no matter how much you want the outcome to be different, how much time you've invested. You have to know when to fold your hand.
Emily: We're not talking about a card game here or corporate warfare. This is your wife. It's your marriage.
Jax: Yeah, which she chose to end when she slept with another man. You know, wishing it didn't happen isn't going to change the fact that it did. Oh, you think this is easy for me?
Emily: No, of course not.
Jax: You know, working through the problems she had with the surrogacy -- we could have done that, but she didn't turn to me. She chose to turn to Nikolas and she made it sound, you know, inevitable, out of her control. Well, who am I to stand in the way of something so fated? I'm done. Courtney's out of my life, and if you're smart, you'll send Nikolas packing, too.
Emily: How can I blame Nikolas for turning to Courtney when I'm the one who drove him into her arms?
Courtney: Wait, wait. Wait. Oh. Oh.
Nikolas: All right.
Courtney: Oh. No, we canít. We have to stop. I mean -- oh, God. I mean, even if my marriage is a mess, I -- I still love Jax.
Nikolas: I know. And I still love Emily, too much that I can't cross a line that I can't get back from, you know? Our marriage means everything to me right now.
Courtney: So -- so this -- this is it, then, right? I mean, this is the end of the line for us.
Nikolas: Yeah. Yes, it --
Sonny: Michael has been through hell. He's just now getting better. Last thing he needs is you giving him false hope about a reconciliation that's -- it's not going to happen.
Carly: Ok. If you're referring to me and you, that thought never crossed my mind but obviously, you can't say the same.
Sonny: I know you, Carly. I know the signs. Is this the calm before the storm? Alcazar dumps you so you're looking for the next thing? Look, God forbid you get it -- some time alone or maybe, you know, a little therapy.
Carly: Oh, wait, I'm sorry -- are you advising me to see a shrink?
Sonny: It wouldn't hurt.
Carly: Talk about the pot and the kettle.
Sonny: Ok, like I said, you're not fooling me. This sudden desire for family bonding is an excuse, a way to get in, and I'm just telling you as -- hey, look, I care about you a great deal, but you and me -- it's not going to happen.
Carly: Ok, you -- oh, how, wow. You insufferable, conceited pig. The only reason that I was including you in the first place was that you -- that Michael and Morgan could spend five minutes with both their parents, ok? But you know what? Who needs you? I don't need you.
Carly: I'll just take them by myself.
Sonny: No. No. You're not doing that.
Carly: Oh -- you know what, Sonny? I don't need your permission to take my kids.
Sonny: Well, you know what? When you're like this, you don't think straight. You're like a loaded weapon ready to go off and I'm not putting my children in the middle of your next explosion!
Michael: All right, why are you guys fighting?
Carly: We weren't, we werenít. Not really. We were just having a spirited disagreement. Hey, you know what? Sweetheart, we'll let you decide. Wouldn't you love to come on a picnic with mommy, just the three of us -- you, me, and Morgan?
Skye: I got a call from the hospital regarding my help with the charitable endowment.
Lorenzo: I was afraid if I contacted you directly, you'd refuse to come.
Skye: Well, you were right. For the record, I think it's pretty damn despicable of you to hide behind hospital charity when you're propositioning someone.
Lorenzo: I'm not proposit-- let me rephrase that. I'm not offering to pay you to sleep with me. I'd like you to take over as head of the charitable endowment.
Skye: Oh, this is infuriating on so many levels. I don't even know where to start.
Lorenzo: Start anywhere. Just don't -- don't walk away.
Skye: That's exactly what I should do. I should get on an elevator and never look back after I slap you again for a second time. But you know why I don't?
Lorenzo: You'd miss me?
Skye: All right, buddy, hold it right there. There is absolutely no flirting allowed, ok, not after the way that you hit on me this morning. That was --
Lorenzo: I'm sorry.
Skye: Well, you should be.
Lorenzo: No, I'm -- I mean, I'm truly sorry. You've been wonderful to me, Skye, and you've helped me in ways I never expected. And what you said to me the other night about having someone in my life to take care of, it put a lot of things in perspective.
Skye: Do you want to stay friends? Let me play amateur psychiatrist again.
Lorenzo: Wouldn't you rather discuss the charitable endowment?
Skye: No. I'd rather discuss you. You knew exactly what you were doing this morning, Lorenzo. You didn't ask me over to your house to lure me into your bed. You wanted to drive me out of your life.
Sam: You're a nice man, Andrew, but you can't make me happy.
Andrew: Maybe not right away. But I can love you unconditionally, give you reason to blossom and hopefully lead you to your heart's desire. Look, haven't you had enough of letting Allegra win? I mean, this is your chance to stand up to your mother -- I mean, take control of your future. Take a leap of faith, Ali. Marry me tonight -- and not for my money or because Allegra says so. Because you want to.
Sam: Ok. I will marry you tonight, but only because you said one thing -- you will lead me to my heart's desire.
Jason: Where did Andrew take Sam?
Allegra: I don't know.
Jason: That's a wrong answer!
Allegra: Hit him!
Jason: Tell me where Sam is right now!
Allegra: All right, all right! Andrew called the priest and told him to meet him at the piazza. He's marrying Sam as we speak.
Reese: Ric, wait up.
Ric: What's going on?
Reese: Well, I was just about to ask you that. Have you managed to talk Alexis out of this ridiculous sexual discrimination suit?
Ric: Oh, surely you jest. Nobody talks Alexis out of anything that she's set her mind to, least of all me.
Reese: Well, then here are several precedents for our countersuit. We got to get on this right away.
Ric: Did I miss a memo? Weren't you the one who was packing up and leaving town?
Ric: Well, I'm the guy who was trying to convince you to stay, remember? That was me.
Reese: I do.
Ric: So, what changed your mind? He asked as if he didn't know.
Reese: What? I mean, this is an amazing opportunity, this legal partnership that we have.
Reese: I'd be a fool to walk away from it.
Ric: So this decision has nothing to do with Sonny?
Reese: And I also remembered something else that you told me.
Reese: The way to win Sonny over is to be tenacious and never give up, and besides, staying and fighting for what I want would be a life lesson for me, and God knows that running away hasn't helped so, yes, my decision has something to do with Sonny, and I -- I'm not going down that easily, not this time.
Carly: All the forces are aligned, the weather is perfect. I just picked up ribs at Eliís. The Fuzz Tone Kings are playing at the band shell -- I know how much you like them. Of course, they give me a screaming headache, but I brought aspirin and ear plugs and --
Michael: Are you all right?
Carly: Oh, God -- honey, this silly bruise? It's nothing. It's nothing. I just -- I walked into a wall.
Michael: No. Not that. You seem excited.
Carly: I am excited. Are you kidding me? I'm so excited to spend the whole day with you and Morgan.
Michael: Morgan's asleep right now.
Carly: Ok, all right. Michael, if you don't want to go with me, just say so.
Michael: I'm sorry, mom. I hope you aren't mad.
Sonny: No, mommy's not mad. She's just got a lot on her mind. Why don't you go upstairs, ok? Help Leticia out with your room.
Michael: Ok. Bye, mom.
Carly: Bye, sweetheart.
Carly: Ok, what have you been telling him? Why is he acting like he's afraid of me?
Sonny: Because he's not blind. He can see that you're all over the place. You need to calm down; you need to take it easy.
Carly: Ok, well, Sonny, never the easy way for me.
Sonny: What are you doing?
Carly: What the hell do you care?
Skye: If I were a betting woman -- and I'm not, since alcohol is my only addiction --
Skye: I'd say that you despise the one thing about yourself that makes you so remarkable -- the fact that you love so deeply with all your heart. It's how you loved Carly. You changed your life for her, devoted yourself to her, and now it's over, so naturally you're hurt, you're angry, and you want to take it out on yourself.
Lorenzo: But I insulted you.
Skye: Of course you did. You wanted me to slap you. You wanted me to walk out that door -- one less person for you to enjoy, one less friend for you to care about. But in the end, I'm not the one who's deprived. You are.
Lorenzo: It's an interesting theory. I don't deal well with loss and I've had a lot of it. I tend to turn inward and -- really no other way to put it. I just get angry and cold. I don't really know why. But I do know you didn't deserve to be treated that way, and I'm deeply sorry.
Skye: Well, apology accepted.
Lorenzo: All right. So regarding the charitable endowment --
Skye: I thought that was just a lure to get me here.
Lorenzo: Not at all. I want you to take over as head of the endowment.
Skye: What, Carlyís stepping down?
Lorenzo: Effective immediately.
Skye: Does Carly know that?
Lorenzo: I'll tell her.
Skye: Ok. If you're just offering me this position as a way to hurt Carly, I'm afraid I'm going to have to say no.
Lorenzo: Look, Carly and I need a clean break. We can't do that if we're both working with the hospital. In addition, Carly can't give the endowment the time or attention it deserves. You can. You have experience running a corporation, you have a great relationship with the hospital, and you're a Quartermaine, and everyone expects a member of the family to head up the endowment.
Skye: Well, you do realize that Tracyís going to be furious.
Lorenzo: Well, you can consider that a collateral benefit. You'll be helping me, you'll help the hospital, and you'll drive Tracy wild with envy.
Skye: Well, when you put it that way, how can I say no?
Lorenzo: Thank you.
Skye: No. Thank you -- for having the grace to apologize and make amends. I'd have been really sorry to lose our friendship.
Lorenzo: I hope that never happens.
Andrew: I, Andrew, take you, Alicia, to be my wife, loving what I know of you and trusting any surprises to come. I look forward to a future with boundless joy and anticipation, knowing it belongs to us. I promise to love and cherish you from this moment on despite any obstacles fate may throw our way.
Priest: Alicia, you may say your vows to Andrew. If you'd like a more traditional ceremony, I can guide you through that, if you prefer.
Sam: No, thank you. I have -- I'm sorry. I can't do this. I can't go through with this.
Allegra: Be careful. He could be faking.
Dante: Looks like he passed out.
Allegra: How fortuitous.
Andrew: You can do it. Just look into my eyes and speak from your heart.
Allegra: You just made my job so much easier.
Sam: I take you to be my husband, my life partner, my one true love. I will honor our commitment by loving you more each day than I did the day before, by trusting you above all others, by laughing and crying with you, by staying loyal to you in good times and in bad, by being the one person in this whole world that you can count on. I give you my heart and all of my love tonight and forever.
Priest: By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife.
Andrew: I can't tell you how moved I was by your vows. I didn't expect it to be so heartfelt.
Sam: I guess I just got swept away in the moment. Why don't we go tell mother the good news?
Andrew: Well, we're brand-newlyweds. Oh, we're not going to do anything else because I'm going to have this dance with you.
Sam: You know, it's as if everything you taught me about dance, it's just gone right out the window.
Andrew: Trust -- that's the secret. Trust the music. Trust me.
Sam: Hmm. Hmm.
Andrew: The waltz, please.
Sam: Well, that was fun.
Andrew: The only thing better than dancing with my bride will be making love to my wife.
Elizabeth: Nikolas swore he didn't sleep with Courtney. Why don't you believe him?
Emily: Listen, it doesn't matter what I believe, Elizabeth. My marriage is over.
Elizabeth: It doesn't have to be.
Emily: See, you don't understand. It's not because I'm too hurt or angry to forgive Nikolas. He was probably justified in turning to someone else for some genuine human contact. God knows I haven't given it to him. Nikolas deserves that and so much more and I've been frozen in place.
Elizabeth: For now, but you're going to get past what Connor did to you.
Emily: Oh -- when? Elizabeth, I'm so sick of this rape -- you know, talking about it, analyzing it, hearing myself whine about it, watching it blow my relationship with Nikolas to pieces. I mean, why can't I just get over it already?
Elizabeth: Oh, honey, unfortunately, it doesn't work that way.
Emily: Yeah. I've made so many mistakes.
Elizabeth: We all have, including Nikolas, and I'm sure he regrets this one from the bottom of his heart, but let's keep things in perspective. Nikolas turned to another woman for comfort, not sex.
Emily: Yeah. That's what he says.
Elizabeth: You believe him. I know you do. Deep down, you do.
Emily: I'm not so sure.
Elizabeth: Ok. Worse-case scenario, Nikolas slept with Courtney, but he didn't make love to her because he loves you. Of course, it will be another hurdle for you guys to get around, but if anyone can do it, it's you and Nikolas.
Elizabeth: Come on, Em. You're a fair person, maybe the fairest I know, but you're dropping the ball on this one. Nikolas has been amazing. He has loved you, he has supported you, he has stuck by you, even at his own emotional expense. Don't you think he deserves the same? You need to get past this and move on because if there's one thing I know, if you let Nikolas get away, it'll be the worst mistake of all.
Courtney: I'm so relieved.
Nikolas: That we pulled back in time?
Courtney: Look, I just -- I haven't given up on my marriage yet, you know. I still think that Jax and I can work things out, you know? I mean, but if we'd slept together, I don't think he could have ever come back from that.
Nikolas: Now you'll never have to. Listen, I want to be clear about one thing here, ok? Even though this can't go any further, I don't regret one single minute that I've spent with you.
Courtney: That's sweet.
Nikolas: Oh, I'm not just -- I'm not just saying that, Courtney. Ok? You've been wonderful to me. You've listened. You've been my friend. Most of all, you've helped me get to a major realization in my life and that's that Emily and I have a lot of problems, a lot of problems, and we're about to add this to the mix. But I'd like to believe that we can get through it. I'd like to believe that loving Emily will be enough. I can't give her up without a fight.
Jax: I need to speak with Elizabeth.
Lucky: Well, she's not here. What's your problem?
Jax: It's your brother, actually. He's been panting after my wife for weeks.
Jax: Oh, really? I mean, how do you explain him showing up wherever she happens to be, including the Bahamas? Yeah, that's right. I wanted to take Courtney away so that we could be alone. The only reason I sent her ahead was because this place was finished and I wanted to present it to you and Liz.
Lucky: Nobody asked you.
Jax: Yeah, that's right, you ungrateful bastard, but I did it anyway. And when I wrapped things up here, I went to join my wife in the Bahamas, but guess what -- guess who beat me to it. That's right -- your brother, only this time he managed to seduce her. It wasn't enough for him to wreck his own marriage. He had to bring mine down with it.
Lucky: Hey, if you could have been any kind of husband at all, maybe Courtney wouldn't have been available for seduction. If Courtney slept with Nikolas -- and I have my doubts -- you'd have nobody to blame but yourself. Your wife has been in agony with this whole surrogacy thing. Instead of making your wife feel better, you've been fawning over Elizabeth instead. Why don't you just accept responsibility and quit trying to make Nikolas the scapegoat?
Elizabeth: What's going on?
Lucky: Jax seems to think that Nikolas and Courtney slept together.
Elizabeth: Well, he's wrong, because they didnít.
Jax: I was there, ok? Emily walked in on them.
Elizabeth: Emily walked in on two people that were caught in a rainstorm, wearing robes to dry off. Nikolas swears that nothing happened.
Jax: Really? And that surprises you? He has a lot at stake.
Lucky: Maybe the concept of honorable is hard for you to grasp, but my brother would never betray his vows to Emily. And if he did, he wouldn't lie about it.
Elizabeth: I agree with Lucky. We know Nikolas, you donít. So you better think about this before you throw away your marriage over something that didn't even happen.
Courtney: All right, I'm all packed. When can we get out of here?
Nikolas: Well, not right now. The plane's delayed.
Courtney: Ha-ha. That's funny.
Nikolas: I'm not kidding.
Courtney: No, this cannot be happening again.
Nikolas: I know, I know. No matter what we do or how much we try to prevent it, we always end up together.
Courtney: Maybe fate or karma or the universe is trying to tell us something.
Lorenzo: I have no tolerance for that right now. You understand?
Carly: I just want to have one word with you before we go into the board meeting.
Lorenzo: Your presence is no longer required.
Carly: I don't understand.
Lorenzo: I gave Skye your position as director of the charitable endowment.
Carly: Well, you know, you could have called me, saved me the embarrassment of showing up down here, but maybe that was your whole point!
Lorenzo: Keep your voice down, Carly.
Carly: You not only kick me out on the street and start divorce proceedings against me, now you -- you strip me of my job in a way designed to cause maximum public humiliation. Well, two can play that game, sir.
Sonny: Alcazar is giving up any pretense of going legit. He's back in business with a vengeance, and I think things are going to get pretty complicated.
Ric: Yeah, I'd have to agree.
Sonny: I need additional legal counsel, and naturally I thought of you.
Ric: You want me to represent you?
Sonny: Well, you got a stomach for it, and I'm at that point now where, you know, I'm trusting you a little more.
Ric: Well, that's -- what's the catch?
Sonny: Well, there's one condition. I won't hire you if you stay in partnership with Reese. I want you to cut her loose.
Ric: Thank you for the offer. But you're going to have to get somebody else.
Sonny: Ric, Ric, I asked you, and the offer was not made lightly.
Ric: Well, neither was the refusal, Sonny. Look, I appreciate the vote of confidence. And qualifying in the trust department definitely means more to me than you'll ever know. I would love to represent you, and I'd be damn good at it, but not if I'm going to have to bow at your whim.
Sonny: You came to Port Charles carrying a lifetime's worth of resentment --
Sonny: And a grudge a mile long.
Sonny: You kidnap my pregnant wife, you -- with every intention of stealing our child. I hated you for that. I didn't think I could get past it. But I did. And now, I'm reaching out to you, and you're turning me down because of Reese? You got to help me understand that, Ric.
Ric: Reese isn't your enemy, Sonny, ok? She made a mistake. She happens to be a good person. She's also my law partner. I'm not going to kick her to the curb because your relationship with her went south. And for the record, I think you're an idiot for letting her go. Look, if you want me, I'd be happy to come onboard, but on my terms, not yours.
Carly: You want to fight dirty? I can do that. You want to bring public humiliation into the mix? I'm all over that. Everyone on the board probably knows already that you dumped me and gave my job to somebody else, so let's tell them why. Let's tell them that you're really just a twisted, paranoid freak who put a tracking device in my phone!
Lorenzo: You are going to get on that elevator and you are going to go home, wherever that is for you. And then you are going to stay away from me. I don't want to see you; I don't want to speak to you. Am I clear?
Carly: No fair, Lorenzo. You lied to me. You told me that you were going to love me no matter what. And the first time that I make a mistake, the first time that I mess up, you toss me out like clothes you don't want to wear anymore. You never loved me! You just wanted to get one over on Sonny.
Lorenzo: Yeah, think whatever you want. Keep telling yourself it's my fault, Carly.
Carly: No. You ruined my life. My son won't even talk to me because of you. I lost everything. Every-- God.
Courtney: Do you believe in fate?
Nikolas: Well, I wasn't sure until Emily came back into my life. And now, yeah, I do. I think we're destined somehow.
Courtney: Yeah. I mean, that's the way I came to feel about Jax and me. I mean, it took a really long time. At first, I thought he was just this arrogant jerk.
Nikolas: Well, hey, I hate to be the one to break it to you -- he is.
Courtney: No. See, that's what I mean, right there. I mean, he's just -- he just comes off that way because -- I don't know -- I think he thinks it goes with his ruthless corporate raider image but, no, hey, he's -- he's really quite wonderful.
Nikolas: Well, maybe he is. He got you to be his wife.
Courtney: You know, I -- I just -- I can kick myself, Nikolas, for putting that look of betrayal in his eyes. You know, I swear, if I could do anything to undo the damage that I've created, I would never hurt my husband or put my marriage at risk again.
Lucky: You need to talk to your wife. You owe Courtney that much.
Jax: I owe Courtney nothing. All bets were off when she got into bed with another man. You want to know the truth? She was never committed in our marriage.
Elizabeth: No, Jax, that's ridiculous.
Jax: Ok, no, no, she held a torch for Jason from the day I met her. Sure, she made all the right noises about being over him, but who got to see the bride on her wedding day, long before I ever did? That's right. It was Jason. You might want to warn your brother before he gets in too deep.
Lucky: I don't understand you. Courtney is your wife. You're supposed to love, honor, and trust her. How can you be so willing to think the worst without even hearing her side of things? If you're that rigid and unforgiving, you ought to take a step back and look at your role in all this.
Jax: When I want your advice, I'll be sure to ask.
Elizabeth: If you mean this -- if you are seriously going to end your marriage, what happens to this baby I'm carrying for you and your wife?
Jason: What'd you do to me?
Allegra: Nothing. You just passed out, I swear. You're too late, you know. Sam did as I asked and she married Andrew.
Jason: You're lying.
Allegra: I spoke to the priest. He said her vows were lovely.
Andrew: Come on. I'm going to take you to paradise.
Sam: I -- I've got to call my mother first.
Andrew: This is our honeymoon, darling. By the way you danced with me and the way you read your vows, this is going to be a night to remember.
Emily: Sonny, I'm sorry to drop in, but I really need to reach Jason.
Sonny: I can't help you there.
Emily: Sonny, it's important or I wouldn't ask.
Sonny: Oh, I don't mean I wonít. I canít. Jason and Sam are on a boat somewhere. I'm not going to talk to them until they get back. Is there anything I can help you out with?
Emily: No, listen, I don't want to bother you.
Sonny: No, you're not bothering me. Emily? What's wrong? Emily?
Emily: Nikolas had an affair.
Sonny: Huh. I'm sorry.
Emily: Yeah. Elizabeth says that I should hold on to my marriage, and Jax says I should cut my losses. And my mother agrees. She wants me to leave Nikolas immediately and move home. And I need someone objective, and that means Jason.
Sonny: Well -- I can help in my own way. Who -- who is she?
Emily: Listen, it doesn't matter, Sonny. I shouldn't have told you any of this.
Sonny: There's no need to protect the identity of the woman who slept with your husband. I mean -- well, what's her name?
Emily: Um --
Sonny: Is it somebody that I'm close to? Well, you -- you mentioned Jax. Why would he have an opinion one way or the -- my sister? He's sleeping with Courtney?
Sonny: He's sleeping -- ok. Consider -- I am sorry -- ahem -- that you had to suffer this indignity. Consider this unfortunate incident in my hands now.
Nikolas: Emily and Jax are -- you know, they're hurt right now. But I think once the shock wears off --
Courtney: Yeah, when we have a chance to explain that nothing happened --
Courtney: And that we don't want anything to happen.
Nikolas: Yeah, our marriages are going to end up stronger than ever.
Jax: Divorcing Courtney won't affect our arrangement. I intend to raise my son or daughter alone.
Elizabeth: But what about Courtney?
Jax: She won't be a part of it.
Elizabeth: I'm sorry, I can't agree to let this baby grow up without a mother.
>> On the next "General Hospital" --
Sam: I cannot sleep with you.
Andrew: Do I disgust you that much?
Courtney: It's going to be a bumpy ride.
Nikolas: They have to have realized the truth by now.
Emily: Maybe it's Nikolas and Courtney who were meant to be.
Jax: The baby's mine.
Lucky: She has a say in how it's raised.
Jax: No, you're wrong. My lawyers will explain it to you.
