General Hospital Transcript Wednesday 8/10/05
Courtney: Nikolas, you still love Emily, and I love Jax. I --
Nikolas: You're right. We should walk away right now. You know we can't turn back from this. You know that?
Courtney: I'm not turning back. I don't know how.
Carly: Are you busy?
Lorenzo: Oh, it's just paperwork. It has to be done sometime.
Carly: Ok. Well, I'll leave you to it.
Lorenzo: Carly -- what went on last night -- I'd like to think you came here to talk about it.
Carly: I did, but I chickened out.
Lorenzo: Yeah, why do you think I'm here doing paperwork? It's a lot easier to avoid you than to figure out what the hell happened. But I think avoiding each other will be the beginning of the end of our marriage. And I realized last night I'm not ready to give up. What about you?
Reese: This is ridiculous. Can't you control your wife? All right, Ric, it's not funny, ok? Nothing about this situation is funny so stop laughing. You know, when we went into practice together, I had no idea that we would become one of our first clients. Well, we have to meet and we have to come up with a strategy or something. Yeah, all right, I'm on my way. Unbelievable, unbelievable. How is Alexis on follow-through?
Sonny: You're kidding, right? The woman's a bull. Why?
Reese: Great. Well, Alexis is suing Ric and me for sexual discrimination.
Sonny: How does that work? You're a woman.
Reese: Yeah -- not a pregnant one.
Sonny: Well, what you got to do is you got to dissolve your relationship with Ric, because she's the one, you know, to -- she just loves going up against him in court.
Reese: Come on, I'm not going to let Alexis crowd me out of my own law firm. If she wants to move forward with this process, well, all I can say is bring it on.
Sonny: You want to know something?
Sonny: I kind of -- I kind of like it when you get all tough like that.
Reese: I thought you liked it when I was all sweet and malleable.
Sonny: Well, you're just the best of both worlds.
Reese: Hey, have you heard from Jason or Sam?
Sonny: I don't expect to, because I told them to concentrate, you know, on Sam instead of work for a bit.
Reese: Aw, you're so sweet. I'm sure she's very happy about that.
Sonny: Yeah. I mean, you know, Jason’s done a lot for me. The least I can do is tell him to pay attention to his own life -- not that he has one, but --
Reese: You know, I'm beginning to understand the bond that you and Jason have.
Sonny: We've been through hell and back, and I know he would -- he would do anything he could to protect me or any member of my family.
Reese: Especially Carly.
Sonny: Yeah. They've been close for a while.
Reese: Yeah, and I guess if Jason had his way he'd have the two of you back together. Doesn't it bother you at all that he doesn't support us, Sonny?
Sonny: I'd like him to. But what Jason thinks, you know, is not going to stop me from doing what I want to do, and that brings me back to the question I was going to ask.
Jason: Oh, man. What?
Sam: Jason? My diamond necklace. I know I am positive it was right here. It's gone. Seriously, it doesn't make sense, Jason. How could my necklace just disappear?
Jason: Ok, well, it's got to be somewhere.
Sam: I know it has to be somewhere, but we have to find it, because I love that necklace. Maybe -- it's not on the floor, nothing. I don't --
Jason: Ok, let's just retrace our steps, all right?
Sam: There's nothing to retrace. I put it right there.
Jason: Ok, just humor me. Come on.
Carly: For a guy who relentlessly pursued me, you've spent a lot of time thinking about leaving me.
Lorenzo: And do you know why?
Carly: I don't want to have another fight about Sonny.
Lorenzo: Neither do I, so let's talk about us. Come on, let's sit. Carly, I scared myself last night. I was furious with you, and it only made me want you more. Not that I think marriage should be all hearts and flowers, but I don't want us to deteriorate to the point where we're either screaming at one another or tearing each other's clothes off.
Carly: I have a temper and you have a temper, so naturally we're going to have disagreements.
Lorenzo: Is that how you look at last night? As a disagreement?
Carly: Actually, I look at it more like a misunderstanding. I was worried about Jason, and you assumed it was about Sonny. So you got jealous, and you didn't have to be.
Lorenzo: Maybe you're right. Maybe I was jealous. I don't see it that way. Carly, I don't want what you had with Sonny. I want just the opposite. I want us to trust each other.
Carly: Ok. So you put a tracking device in my phone?
Lorenzo: You think I violated your privacy?
Carly: You did.
Lorenzo: I thought I was protecting you.
Lorenzo: Carly, I am a wealthy man with a violent past and a lot of enemies. If someone were to grab you, a tracking device could save your life.
Carly: You should have asked me!
Lorenzo: You're right. You're absolutely right. I apologize.
Carly: You don't have to apologize, Lorenzo. I know, I get it. I'm -- I can be frustrating to live with. I lie, and naturally you suspect me, and naturally I get defensive and --
Lorenzo: Yeah, it's a vicious circle.
Carly: It's -- we can break it.
Lorenzo: I'd like that. We can start by being honest.
Carly: I agree.
Lorenzo: I love you so much, and I want this to work.
Carly: I do, too. I do, too, and it will. You know, a lot of marriages have trouble in the beginning, they're rocky, and all that matters is that we love each other. I love you so much. Please -- this is where I want to be.
Jax: Hey. We really must stop meeting like this.
Elizabeth: What are you still doing here? You're not sick, I hope?
Jax: No. I had a board meeting.
Elizabeth: Oh, really? Isn't that interesting that it ended just as my appointment with Dr. Meadows is scheduled to start?
Jax: Yeah, that is an amazing coincidence.
Elizabeth: Hmm, somehow I think not.
Jax: Ok, all right, I confess. I came by to see how you and the baby were doing, medically speaking.
Jax: Would it be very intrusive if I stuck around long enough to get an answer?
Elizabeth: As long as you understand there's no way you're going in the exam room with me.
Nikolas: We can't do this here.
Courtney: How can we do this at all?
Nikolas: And I don't know what's happening between us right now, but something tells me it's not going to go away.
Courtney: No, it scares me.
Courtney: I mean, I just -- I feel out of control, and I -- I don't usually like it, but what scares me the most is I don't want to stop it.
Nikolas: But we have to, right?
Courtney: Nikolas, I -- I mean, I am probably the world's worst liar, ok, and I -- I've never been a cheat. I -- I wouldn't be any good at an affair. You know, I'd be compelled to tell Jax, and he would be shattered. I -- I love my husband. I don't want to hurt him.
Nikolas: I know. I feel the same way about Emily.
Courtney: So then -- then we're agreed? This has to end now.
Nikolas: I'm sorry we missed. Another time, another place, huh?
Reese: A mysterious question, huh? What could it be? How many lovers I've had? When did I lose my virginity?
Sonny: Those are all great questions, you know? But -- you know, maybe you can tell me some other time, but it's not what I'm planning to ask you.
Reese: Ok. Well, can't you tell me now so I can get out of here? I got to meet Ric.
Sonny: Yeah, all right. You're right. We need some time alone so we don't have to rush anything. I'll tell you later then, ok?
Sonny: Meet me back here, all right?
Reese: I can't wait.
Sonny: All right.
Reese: See you later.
Michael: What did I tell you? You can't go through Reese’s things. Wow. 1990 -- that's before I was born.
Sonny: What are you doing?
Michael: Morgan dumped Reese’s purse and --
Sonny: What? Give me the purse. Sit down over here for a sec.
Sonny: There's something I got to tell you. It's a little important, a little bit, ok? It's about Reese.
Sam: That necklace is the first piece of jewelry you've ever given me. I don't want to lose it.
Jason: Ok, this -- obviously, you wore this and then the other outfit? That's it?
Sam: Yes, that's it, that's all.
Jason: Maybe it's in your pockets.
Sam: Maybe. Ok.
Nikolas: Is Emily available? No, of course she's not. Well, this is her husband, Nikolas. I'd like to leave a message, please. Tell her that I'm waiting for her at Kelly’s and to meet me here as soon as she can. Thanks.
Lucky: Why did that sound so ominous?
Nikolas: Probably because my life is in complete chaos right now, and no offense, but you're the last person that I should be dragging into it right now.
Lucky: Well, I'm already here, so what's going on?
Nikolas: All right, I guess I should probably tell you. I mean, it's bound to ricochet and affect you and Elizabeth.
Lucky: What do you want to do here, Nikolas? You want to play around with 20 questions?
Nikolas: All right. Ok. Courtney and I have developed this --
Lucky: This, what?
Nikolas: I don't know, attraction? Sexual curiosity? I don't know.
Lucky: Have you completely lost your mind?
Sonny: You know how much I love you, Morgan, and Kristina, right?
Sonny: I would never do anything to hurt you guys.
Michael: This already sounds bad.
Sonny: I hope not and I hope you don't -- you know, I hope you feel the same way. Listen -- false hope is a dangerous thing, and I don't want you to indulge in it. I know you want your parents to get back together, but I don't think that's going to happen, buddy.
Michael: Mom and Alcazar could break up.
Sonny: Yeah, they could break up, but it doesn't mean your mom and I are going to get back together. I mean, look, we've been down that road too many times. We both know without a shadow of a doubt that marriage doesn't really work for us. Even though you don't like it, I just want you to understand what I'm saying.
Michael: I do.
Sonny: Ok. Moving on.
Michael: Is this going to be about Reese?
Sonny: Yeah. I care about her, she makes me happy, she makes the lonely times a little easier, and I want her in my life.
Michael: What's so good about her?
Sonny: Hmm. Well, for starters, she has great concern for my children. I mean, I don't know if you know, but when you were kidnapped, she was relentless in trying to find you and bring you home. Then when you came home and you were so traumatized that you couldn't even speak, she's the one that held you and made up poems to make you feel better when you were scared and angry.
Michael: Are you in love with her?
Sonny: I care about her, ok? I want to spend time with her. That's why I'm going to ask her to move in with us.
Michael: She's moving in?
Sonny: Yes, I'd like her to. Now, I'm your dad. This is not like I'm asking you for your permission, but I think we'd both be a lot happier if you were happy about it. I know if I went back to Reese and said, "You know, I don't think -- I don't think Michael wants you to move in here," I think she'd turn me down, and I don't want that to happen. So, what do you think?
Michael: I guess we could give it a try.
Sonny: See that? All right. You are an amazing little boy, and I am so proud to call you my son. Come here.
Ric: Oh, I know that look. I've been staring at it all morning long in the mirror, racking my brain, trying to come up with strategies.
Ric: Hello? Earth to Reese?
Ric: Did you forget that my wife is suing us for sexual discrimination?
Reese: All right, why are we even having this conversation, Ric? Alexis is a brilliant lawyer --
Ric: Well, yeah, which might work against us --
Reese: And if she wants to join our firm, why don't we just let her? We'll invite her in.
Ric: Oh, that's brilliant. Why didn't I think of that?
Reese: You already tried, right?
Ric: Yeah, yeah, that train left the station the minute that we declined to hire her, Reese, and precedent is on Alexis' side, I'm afraid.
Ric: Oh. The only recourse, I think, that we could possibly have here is a shameless attempt at sexual advancement, that, or emotional blackmail. If I'm boring you, you just let me know, ok?
Reese: I'm sorry, Ric. My mind is completely somewhere else.
Ric: Yeah, let me guess. Sonny, right?
Reese: He's getting ready to make a major move.
Ric: Ok, I don't think I need to hear this.
Reese: No, no, it's not business. He's setting up the stage to ask me something important.
Ric: Like what?
Reese: I think that he's going to ask me to move in.
Ric: Hmm. You going to do it?
Reese: I'd like to.
Ric: Would you also like to bare your soul and tell him your deep, dark secrets?
Reese: It's the right thing to do, isn't it? Sonny doesn't even know my real name, much less my past history with Carly.
Ric: Yeah, he also doesn't know that you and I made love one night, and I'd rather like to keep it that way.
Reese: Making the move, moving in together --
Reese: It's two of us agreeing to merge our lives. His is an open book. Mine is a series of lies. And it's just not fair to Sonny. Don't worry, Ric, I'm not going to tell him about our night together. But if asks me to make this commitment, I'm going to have to tell him who I am.
Ric: Reese, you and I are partners, but I'd like to think of us as friends.
Reese: Of course we are.
Ric: So let me tell you what I know. You tell Sonny that you are Charlotte Roberts, Carly’s ex-high school friend, and there is a very distinct possibility that you will lose him.
Sam: Maybe we had too much to drink, but you have to admit that my necklace reappearing out of nowhere is completely bizarre, right? Oh.
Jason: Yeah, it is. What are you suggesting?
Sam: Oh, gee, I don't know. Maybe I willed it back.
Jason: I don't think jewelry obeys.
Sam: Ok, Mr. Skeptic. Do you have a better explanation?
Jason: No, I don’t. But can you will our dinner to fix itself, because I'm very hungry.
Sam: No. Perfect world, but you and I both know Sonny lives in less than a perfect world.
Reese: I just don't feel right about keeping such fundamental truths from him.
Ric: Ok, then why don't you think about Carly. You know, she and Sonny would still be together if he hadn't found out that she kept Kristina’s paternity a secret. That was a betrayal, Reese, that he couldn't come back from, no matter how much Sonny loved her, and Carly’s put in a lot more time than you have.
Reese: Yeah. Well, Carly’s one of the things I'm scared of the most. I mean, she is like a dog with a bone, and she won't stop until she's unearthed everything that I've been trying to hide.
Reese: Don't you think that it's better that I come clean with Sonny, I tell him the truth, rather than have Carly blow my life up in my face?
Ric: Fine, fine. Ultimately, it's your decision. I'm just trying to tell you how I think Sonny will react.
Reese: I am in love with Sonny, and I really think that I need to tell him about my past. And he will understand that my biggest sin is one of omission.
Ric: Obviously, there's nothing I can say to change your mind, except I think you're making a very big mistake. Hey -- my instincts aren't always on the mark. Ask my wife. I got to get to the courthouse. I got to file a motion.
Reese: It's ok, I got this, Ric.
Ric: I got it, I got it.
Reese: Thank you.
Ric: I took it out of petty cash.
Carly: A.J.’s murder case has been solved and closed. Michael has been cleared of all charges and is on the road to a complete psychological recovery. The only loose end is who the hell you really are.
Lucky: You aren't seriously considering having an affair with Courtney?
Nikolas: I don't know, Lucky. Do you want an honest answer or do you want a politically correct one? Look, I'm as surprised by this as you are. I never thought that I would even be attracted to another woman other than Emily, all right? I'm sorry, I just -- I can't stop thinking about her.
Lucky: Then you need to, because Emily doesn't deserve this from you, and as much as I can do without him, Jax doesn't deserve this from Courtney.
Nikolas: The attraction isn't intentional.
Lucky: What, is that going to be your excuse for destroying a marriage to a woman you've loved for years? It's not enough.
Nikolas: Well, how do you know Courtney’s not the love of my life? How do you know?
Lucky: Whoa, I can't believe I'm hearing this. Love? You barely know Courtney, all right? It's a rebound, Nikolas. You're reacting to a rough patch that you've been going through with Emily, all right? So see it for what it is, and don't destroy your life for it.
Nikolas: Well, that's convenient for you to say.
Lucky: What's that supposed to mean?
Nikolas: Well, if Courtney and I both left our marriages right now, there'd be nothing there to stop Jax from focusing all of his energy on --
Lucky: Oh -- you know what? That is not the issue here.
Lucky: If you act on a fleeting attraction to Courtney, you risk destroying Emily’s life. All right? And you know that's -- it's not worth it.
Nikolas: Ok, then what happens in the meantime, Lucky? Do Emily and I keep dismantling each other piece by piece? I mean, I'm beginning to think that leaving her is the only way to make her happy.
Lucky: Is that what you were doing when I walked in? You were thinking up rationalizations to leave you guilt free?
Nikolas: Guilt -- no. Look, I feel guilt, ok? It's -- you know what? I don't -- I shouldn't have told you. I didn't know what I expected you to say.
Lucky: Well, maybe you need a reality check, so pay attention. Get up and walk away. Let Emily be mad at you for standing her up, but don't let her see you burning for another woman. One look at you and she'll know. You are an honorable man, Nikolas. Be that tonight. Go end it with Courtney and then go home to your wife.
Sonny: Hey, Ric?
Sonny: I'm looking for Reese. Have you seen her?
Ric: Yeah. I -- I just left her at Kelly’s.
Sonny: Kelly's? Right, thanks. Hey -- you're starting to get to know Reese pretty well, right?
Ric: Yeah, I suppose so.
Sonny: Our relationship is starting to, you know, accelerate a little faster.
Sonny: And before it goes in too deep, just between you and me, do you know anything about Reese that I should know?
Sam: Now, this is peaceful, just lying right here in your arms.
Jason: Do you miss being out on the water?
Sam: Sometimes, yeah. But I'm happy with you.
Man: This is the San Sereno Sea Patrol! We are boarding your yacht!
Jason: Who are you and what the hell are you doing on this boat?
Man: You are trespassing private waters. You, dear lady -- you are wearing stolen jewelry.
Sam: Hey! Give that back!
Ric: What do I know about Reese that you wouldn't know already? I mean, she's, what, she's a beautiful woman, but anybody with two eyes could see that. She's strong, right? She's smart.
Ric: You already know that.
Ric: She also happens to be a brilliant lawyer and a heck of an investigator, and she also gave up her career for you.
Sonny: Well, I get that you're a fan. I'm just trying to -- can you tell me something that's not quite so positive?
Ric: Are you looking for a way out, Sonny?
Ric: Ok, then accept Reese for who she is, ok? Don't be such a perfectionist with people because you're only going to set yourself up and them to fail. Reese is an amazing woman. But she's also human, all right? She's not this perfect fantasy, ok? You've always set most of the women up in your life to be this ideal, and they can't ever measure up to it, right? So why don't you lower those lofty standards of yours just for once and see Reese as a real woman, not an ideal.
Carly: You're hiding something big. I sensed it from the moment I laid eyes on you. Sonny would have sensed it, too, if he'd been thinking with his brains instead of his loins.
Reese: When do you find time for your new husband when you spend all day every day obsessing over your ex?
Carly: Sonny is the father of my sons. What touches him, touches them. That's the way it works, and you're bad news, and I am going to prove it and keep you away from my sons once and for all.
Reese: Don't count on it, Carly.
Carly: You're living on borrowed time, Reese.
Sam: Look, you have no right to take that necklace. It belongs to me.
Jason: What's going on? What's this about?
Man: This pendant was reported missing by the Montenegro family. You are thieves, and now you are under arrest.
Jax: Everything ok with the baby?
Elizabeth: Look for yourself.
Jax: Wow. That's incredible.
Elizabeth: I know.
Jax: Look what we did.
Lucky: You two look intense.
Lucky: What's going on?
Jax: Pretty awesome, isn't it?
Elizabeth: Well, I hate to break this up, but I have to get back to work. Dr. Meadows says the baby is perfect. I'll see you later.
Jax: Lucky, can I talk to you for a second? I don't know whether Elizabeth told you, but I realize I've been trying to micromanage her life, you know, because that's -- that's what I do. I micromanage, but I've realized I can't transfer my behavior from corporations to people. So I've assured Elizabeth, and now I'm assuring you, as well, I'm going to make every possible effort to give Elizabeth more space.
Lucky: I'm not worried about Elizabeth. I'm concerned about Courtney.
Jax: For what possible reason?
Lorenzo: Hey. Maybe Michael and Morgan would like to go for a swim.
Michael: I didn't bring my trunks.
Lorenzo: Fortunately, your mother is very prepared. I'm sure she has whatever you need upstairs in your room.
Michael: I have a room at my dad’s.
Carly: Well, you have one here now, too. You want to go see it? You're going to like it.
Michael: Can I talk to you alone first?
Carly: Ok, sure.
Lorenzo: I'll take Morgan to see Leticia.
Lorenzo: Here you go, buddy. Join us when you're ready.
Lorenzo: Oh -- here.
Carly: Thanks, honey.
Michael: I have something to tell you, and you're not going to like it.
Carly: Ok, shoot.
Michael: Dad is asking Reese to move in.
Reese: Wow. Oh, my gosh.
Sonny: You like it?
Reese: I love it.
Sonny: I tried to find you at Kelly’s, but you'd already gone.
Reese: I took a walk by the lake. Sonny, this is incredible. Thank you.
Sonny: Well, you got to pull out all the stops if you're trying to woo a beautiful woman.
Reese: I hardly need wooing. I was a goner practically from the first moment I walked in that door.
Sonny: You looked great walking through that door. I can get used to it. I'm still trying to work my way up to asking that question.
Reese: Yes. The answer is yes.
Sonny: You haven't even heard the question.
Reese: I just have this irresistible urge to agree to anything you want tonight.
Sonny: Then I guess we're off to a great start.
Sam: Jason, this isn't jail. This is someone's house.
Jason: What the hell is going on?
Man: Restrain him.
Sam: Jason -- Jason!
Jason: This badge is plastic. These guys aren't sea patrol. Who are you and what do you want?
Man: You will be enlightened at the discretion of your host. Meanwhile, the lady -- she comes with me.
Sam: No, no, no! Let me go -- no --
Sam: Let me go! God!
Lucky: I have a feeling I'm not the only one who has issues with your excessive hovering over Elizabeth.
Jax: You don't know anything about what Courtney feels.
Lucky: Not necessarily true. Courtney may not say it out loud, but I see the expression on her face every time you forget the two of us are in a room and you're hovering over Elizabeth. So maybe you ought to turn some of that attention back on to your wife.
Jax: Oh, really? Lucky, I just -- you know, I don't understand what qualifies you to give marital advice.
Lucky: I'm just giving you my perspective.
Jax: Well, you can keep it, because my relationship with Courtney couldn't be on more solid ground.
Nikolas: Well, fancy meeting you here.
Courtney: I can't lie. I was -- I was hoping you'd pass through.
Courtney: Well, I wanted you to know that I -- I almost went back on my word. When I was tempted to tell Jax about my sudden infatuation with you --
Courtney: I realized that I didn't have it in me to hurt him. We made the right decision.
Nikolas: Yeah. Yeah, I think so, too. I mean, I worked really hard to rebuild Emily’s trust. I can't go, you know, take a wrecking ball to it now.
Nikolas: So whatever we're feeling for each other, we should, you know, just --
Courtney: Ignore it.
Nikolas: Sure, try to forget it.
Courtney: So, ok, then. That's it.
Courtney: Short and sweet.
Nikolas: Yeah. No one gets hurt.
Courtney: Would I -- would I be a really bad person if I asked for a kiss goodbye?
Nikolas: No, you would not.
Nikolas: Ok, bye.
Courtney: Bye. Ok.
Nikolas: Ok, bye.
Courtney: Oh, my goodness.
Nikolas: Oh, I'm sorry.
Sonny: So let me make sure I understand this. You just gave me a blanket yes?
Reese: That's right.
Sonny: Which means I could have anything I want?
Reese: Mm-hmm. Yeah.
Sonny: You want to know what you just agreed to?
Reese: Tell me.
Sonny: All right. You're going to move in with me, sleep beside me every night, wake up next to me every morning. Now, if you want to take that yes back, right now would be the time.
Reese: Oh, not even close. I want you more than I know how to say.
Sonny: Something's making you hold back there. What is it? What's wrong?
Michael: Are you ok?
Carly: Absolutely. Yes. Your father and I have decided to live separate lives, I'm married to Lorenzo, and he has the right to live with whoever it is he pleases. Tell me something, Michael. Do you like Reese? It's ok if you do.
Michael: Sort of.
Carly: Ok. Well, then that's all that matters. Do you want to go see your room? I'm telling you, it's amazing. You're going to love it.
Michael: Hey. I didn't know that you and Reese went to the same high school.
Jason: Sam? Sam, is that you?
Man: Buona notte, signorina.
Woman: Good evening. My God, it's you.
>> On the next "General Hospital" --
Jason: What have you done to her?
Sam: Who do you think I look like?
Woman: My dead daughter.
Carly: Why on earth would you think Reese and I went to the same high school?
Michael: Because of this.
Sonny: Maybe I'm just being paranoid.
Reese: You're not being paranoid. There is something.
