Jax: Wait a minute. You're telling us that A.J.ís alive?

Courtney: How can that be, Rachel?

Rachel: Look, it was an elaborate setup, and it went too far, and I realized I couldn't be part of it. I couldn't let Courtney go to jail for a crime that never even happened.

Courtney: No, no, no, you're lying, Rachel. You are lying because you murdered A.J., and now you are scrambling to save your own ass. You know what, Rachel? It's not going to work.

Carly: You and Jason know that Michael's alive? How? How? Is there proof?

Sam: Carly, the photograph of Michael in the swamp -- it was staged.

Carly: How do you know?

Sam: Well, his pupils were dilated, which indicates that he was drugged. Someone wanted you to believe that Michael was dead, but, Carly, he isn't. Your son is alive.

A.J.: Yeah, listen to me. No matter what Michael says, do not take him to the airport. Just drive around until I call you back.

Man: Sir? Sir? Michael's not with me.

A.J.: What?

Man: He never came to the car.

Michael: A.J.? I know you said not to come back, but my mom and dad don't want me. And I can't go home, so I have nowhere to go.

Sonny: I'm not going to fall for this trap, okay? It doesn't matter that Agent Marshall and I both lost a child. She's a fed. She's put in a lot of time and effort to get where she is. She's not going to just throw it away. She's got to be working me.

Jason: But from what I can see -- I mean, she's done everything to protect you.

Sonny: If she was sympathetic before, it's over now, because I made sure of that. Whatever evidence she has to use against us, she's going to use it.

John: Do you come here often?

Reese: I'm here more than you'd think.

John: I see. So I'm supposed to believe that you suddenly have had this urge to confess your sins? Is that it? Somehow I don't think so. You followed me. I want to know why.

Reese: I'm here about Sonny Corinthos.

John: So you've decided whatever evidence you have against Sonny? Good decision, Agent Marshall. I'm proud of you.

Reese: There is no evidence. If Sonny Corinthos ordered the Sandoval killings, he thoroughly covered his tracks.

John: "If"? "If"? There is no doubt.

Reese: Oh, I have doubts, and I'm increasingly troubled by your relentless pressure on me to harass the grieving father. Little Michael Corinthos is dead -- your grandson. So why don't you stop badgering Sonny and take a few minutes to feel your own pain?

John: Don't you dare presume to judge how I deal with my grandson's death until you have a glimmer of an idea of what it's like to walk in my shoes.

Reese: I know more than you realize. Now, if you'll excuse me, I came here for guidance.

John: Yeah, well, let me give you a little tip, huh? Don't bother with the pious routine. Quite frankly, on you, it's laughable. I know that your presence here is more than a coincidence.

Reese: I don't give a damn what you think you know.

Sonny: The feds have been trying to take me down for years. Why not take advantage when Faith snatched my children? You see who they sent. Not some old guy with a beard who's been profiling, you know, kidnappers for 30 years. They sent Agent Marshall because they know I'm vulnerable to beautiful women. She was perfectly placed to get inside information.

Jason: Which she didn't use.

Sonny: Well, because Agent Marshall's smart. She knows that sitting on the evidence is going to make her seem trustworthy. Why would she settle for charging you when she can pretend to care about me, and that way I have my guards down? Do you see what I'm saying? Agent Marshall could be working me six ways from Sunday.

Jason: Okay, is that what you really think?

Sonny: I don't know what I think. I mean, I can't trust my instincts on this. All I know is I can't afford another mistake. So until I figure out whether Agent Marshall is going to turn on me, I need you to go.

Jason: Sonny, I can't leave --

Sonny: Yes, you can -- I'm not -- this is not a request. You're no good to me if you're arrested and tried for murder. I need you to leave the country tonight.

A.J.: You belong here with me. You did the right thing coming back.

Michael: My mom would just make my -- Sonny -- take me back and they wouldn't care about me. They care about Morgan.

A.J.: I know it hurts, doesn't it?

Michael: I don't get it. When Morgan was born, they promised that they'd still love me.

A.J.: See, Michael, it's really not that complicated. Your mom and Sonny lied to you about being part of their family your whole life. Taking you was the best way to hurt me, but the real thing came along.

Michael: Morgan.

A.J.: It's important for you to know that you were not abandoned, you're not alone, and you are certainly not unwanted. I am your father. And as far as I'm concerned, you are the best kid on the planet, and I want you with me forever.

Michael: I'm glad.

Rachel: You have to believe me. A.J. is very much alive.

Jax: Well, you know, it might help us if you gave us a little back story. How did you meet?

Rachel: I was working in a clinic in the Bahamas, and A.J. was a rich expatriate. We met in a bar. We exchanged histories. He told me that he was from Port Charles, and I remembered that Stevenís family was from there, and one thing just led to another and --

Courtney: And you and A.J. had an affair.

Rachel: What matters is that he tried to set you up. He convinced me to help him fake his own death, and I was reckless and angry enough at Steven to do it. I had no idea that it would be this complicated.

Jax: I thought that was the whole point -- Courtney in prison.

Courtney: Yeah, not to mention Steven dead.

Jax: Hmm.

Rachel: It looked different on paper. Look, I went to the Metro Court because I wanted to tell you. I -- I was going to tell you, but then all hell broke loose.

Courtney: Oh, how convenient.

Rachel: I was shot, Courtney. I would have told you.

Justus: We just got a break in the Quartermaine case.

Mac: Conclusive evidence concerning Courtney's involvement.

Sonny: If you're here to sugarcoat another threat from Alexis, I'm not in the mood --

Ric: No, no, no, just the opposite.

Sonny: I'm tired --

Ric: I just thought you might like to know that Alexis is backing off.

Sonny: Oh, I get it. You're here to lull me into a false sense of security, so that way I won't make good on my promise. Is that right?

Ric: Yeah, to break Alexis. No, that's not going to be necessary.

Sonny: So you say.

Ric: It'll all become apparent very soon. Alexis is going into therapy.

Sonny: About time.

Ric: Oh, I wouldn't throw stones if I were you, Sonny.

Sonny: Well, yeah, you're right. I mean, you know, none of us should. So, what brought this sudden change of attitude? That's, like -- hmm.

Ric: Well, Alexis just realized that it was harmful to Kristina to harbor that kind of anger and resentment towards her father.

Sonny: Yeah, I bet you had something to do with it.

Ric: Yeah, we discussed it. But you know Alexis. She makes her own decisions.

Sonny: Well -- hmm -- thank you for telling me, and, you know, we'll see what happens, right?

[Sonny laughs]

Ric: You know, if Alexis decides to give up this fight for Kristina with you, everybody wins, Sonny. Why don't you just help the process along a little bit? Don't antagonize her while she's going through this. Don't try to vie for Kristina's affections, and please try to stay clear of violence. There's nothing to tie you to the Sandoval killings here, okay, so just lay low for a while while she feels secure, and then maybe all of us get some measure of peace.

Sonny: You know what? Believe it or not, Ric, I'd like to make peace with my brother and his wife. I just don't think that's possible.

Ric's voice: Hi. You've reached Ric Lansing. Leave a message.

[Answering message beeps]

Reese: Ric, it's Reese. I need you to call me back as soon as you get this message. I have to talk to you about John Durant.

Justus: I've just subpoenaed security footage from the Miami airport on the day you went to visit A.J., and there was a lot of footage, so it took a long time, but we've got what we needed -- documented evidence that place you in the lounge near Gate 42-A at the time A.J. was murdered.

Jax: Well, that's fantastic, right?

Justus: I also have two witnesses who remember seeing you there, and they're willing to testify.

Courtney: Oh, so -- so this nightmare is really over?

Mac: There's no way you could have killed A.J.

Jax: Oh --

Mac: That leaves you.

Rachel: Look, you don't understand. There was no murder. Tell them what I just told you. Look, A.J. -- he orchestrated the entire thing. Look, tell him. Tell him what I just told you -- A.J.ís still alive.

[Pounding on door]

Carly: Jason, open up, open up!

Jason: Okay, okay, okay.

Carly: Oh, Jason!

Jason: Whoa -- what? What?

Carly: Sam told me, although I'd figured it out on my own. She told me -- Michael's alive and we're going to find him.

Jax: Right before you came in, Rachel claimed that A.J. is still alive, that he had a plan to fake his own death, and she went along with it.

Courtney: But she had an epiphany and decided to come clean.

Jax: Yeah, and she was going to tell us everything right before the shooting.

Justus: This sudden attack of conscience seems conveniently timed since you've just become the prime suspect in A.J.ís murder.

Courtney: Just so we're clear, all charges against me are dropped?

Mac: Feel free to plan your wedding.

Courtney: I don't know what to say, Justus. You are a miracle worker. Thank you.

Justus: It was a cause I believed in. I always knew you were innocent. I just thought it was going to take a little time to prove, that's all. And, Rachel, here's a little advice on the house -- hire an attorney. You'll need one.

Mac: We'll need a statement about this on top of the Sandoval shootings. If you need time to contact your lawyer --

Rachel: I don't need to hide behind lawyers. I'm telling the truth. A.J.ís no more dead than you are.

Courtney: Rachel already admitted that she knew A.J. in the Bahamas. It shouldn't be too hard to prove that they had an affair. That's her motive right there, Mac. She fell in love with A.J., found out that we were still married, and that A.J. wanted to reconcile, so she killed him and blamed me for it.

Rachel: Ooh, you're just quite the girl detective. Unfortunately, that's not the way that it happened.

Courtney: Oh, would you just shut up, Rachel? I am so sick of you and your lies. You murdered A.J., you terrorize me, and now you're going to pay.

Carly: From the first time I saw Michael in the park -- I don't know, I've just been more and more convinced that he is alive, but I had no proof, you know, nothing to prove it, but Sam told me that you guys found the picture and you saw that he was drugged?

Jason: Carly -- okay, that is not proof. It's only what I believe.

Carly: Jason, you know that's more than enough for me.

Jason: I am not a forensics expert. All I did was enlarge a picture on the computer, and from what I saw it gave me a reason to hope, but I couldn't tell you because I'm not 100% sure.

Carly: No, no, because you were trying to protect me. I know that, Jason. I was trying to protect you, too. I kept things from you.

Jason: Do I need to sit down for this?

Carly: I've seen Michael. I've seen him more than once. He spoke to me. I didn't want to tell you, Jason. I didn't want to add to your pain, and I didn't want you to think I was going crazy. It's pretty amazing, though, isn't it? How profoundly connected we are, that we came to the same conclusion about Michael at the same time -- he is alive. He is alive, and he's just waiting for us to come bring him home.

Courtney: Oh, God, it's finally over. Can you believe it?

Jax: How does it feel?

Courtney: Like a thousand pounds just dropped off my back. Now Rachel will go to prison. You and I can get married.

Jax: Yeah.

Courtney: Thank you.

Jax: Oh, I didn't really do anything.

Courtney: Yes, you did, Jax. You stood by me, you know? You believed in me, even when I wasn't being honest with you.

Jax: Well, I guess that's the good to come out of this. We know each other better now. I know when you're in trouble and, hopefully, you know that you can come to me with whatever it might be.

Courtney: I do know. You know, I learned something else, too. Asking you for help doesn't make me weak. It makes me stronger. I mean, the minute I told you that Rachel was blackmailing me, she lost all her power.

Jax: Right.

Courtney: Oh, God. Can you believe her? I mean, what a piece of work. As if she hasn't done enough damage. Now she's claiming that A.J. is still alive.

Jax: Yeah.

Courtney: What if the Quartermaines believe her? Especially Alan. I mean, he's drowning in his rage and grief, and -- what, she's going to get his hopes up just to save her scrawny little neck?

Jax: Well, she's Lansingís problem now. You and I deserve a celebration, so what would you like to do? Hmm? What do you want to do?

Courtney: Why don't you dazzle me? You're so good at it.

Ric: Okay, Mac, I'll be right there. Yeah, thanks. Well, good news -- Courtney's been exonerated.

Sonny: That's great news.

Ric: Maybe this is the start of a trend. Courtney gets back with her life and maybe it's a chance for you to start rebuilding yours.

Sonny: If the next words out of your mouth are going to be "make Michael's death count for something," you can stop yourself right there, because Michael's death will always be what it is today -- senseless, brutal, and wrong. You guys can all move on if you want, but I won't.

Ric: Yeah, well, Michael wouldn't want you stuck in one place, that's for sure. He'd want you to live, be the best man that you can be for Kristina and Morgan, just like you were for him. That's the way to honor your son. That's a fitting tribute to an exceptional little boy.

Sonny: You here to arrest me?

Jason: Whoever faked Michael's death thinks they got away with it. Now, that works for us, because if they realize that we know Michael's alive, they could either, you know, take Michael somewhere where we'll never find him or they could -- they could just kill him to cover their tracks. I'm not trying to scare you, I'm not saying that for that reason, but I really need you to understand that one wrong move and we could lose Michael for good.

Carly: I know that, Jason.

Jason: Okay.

Carly: I get it. I won't go charging off after him, I won't do anything like that, but he's my son. He's my son, and I need to be involved. So where do we start? Sam said there was a lead, some rich guy or something --

Jason: Yeah.

Carly: In the Bahamas?

Jason: Right, the Bahamas. Sam did the actual legwork. She talked to a hotel employee who knew Faith, and this guy said she'd been getting calls, having meetings with a rich guy from Port Charles. Now, I couldn't get a name, I couldn't get a description, but the obvious choice is Alcazar.

Carly: No, come on, Jason.

Jason: Come on, Carly.

Carly: Come on, we've been through this so many times. It's ridiculous.

Jason: Well, how many other rich guys in Port Charles are motivated to steal Michael?

Sonny: I'm glad you're here.

Reese: Really?

Sonny: Yeah.

Reese: That surprises me.

Sonny: Well, I just wanted to apologize, because I know you've been, you know, trying to help, and I've given you nothing but hostility and disrespect.

Reese: Don't, Sonny. Just -- no more games. I don't like them, and apparently I'm not very good at them. Honest anger will do nicely, thank you.

Sonny: Do you always make it this hard for people to say "I'm sorry" to you? I'm not going to pretend to like your occupation. You know, it's what you picked, all right? Your job is to get people like me off the streets. Now, we've been working very closely together, and now you have the means to do that. Maybe you will, maybe you wonít. But what I'm trying to tell you is that I realize that you've, you know, you've tried to give me a way out, and when I was at my most vulnerable, you know, during the kidnappings and my son dying, that you didn't take advantage of me, and I'm wrong to imply that you did. So I apologize.

Reese: A good agent would have exploited your every weakness and fast-tracked you to Pentonville.

Sonny: Yeah, yeah. Well, why didn't you?

Reese: You lost a child --

Sonny: Yeah.

Reese: And so did I. And I got to know you myself -- not the amoral career criminal that Ric and Durant described, but a terrified father who tried to hold it together for the sake of his kids.

Sonny: What brings you here tonight?

Reese: I -- I became a kidnap specialist because I wanted to spare other parents the pain that I went through. I wanted to save their children because I couldn't save my own. And it is a fine line that you walk between getting close to a family to find out what you need to know and -- and maintaining the emotional distance that's necessary. You really -- you have to keep that distance. You can't have cloudy judgment, because a child's life depends on your objectivity, Sonny, and -- well, the fact is, is that I -- I didn't walk that line very well with you. I got caught up in your fear and in your pain and, after Michael died, your devastation. I felt it, too.

Sonny: Why are you telling me?

Reese: I am emotionally involved with you. And that's why I'm letting you go.

[Courtney laughs]

Courtney: Where are you taking me?

Jax: Use your other senses.

Courtney: Uh -- I hear jazz.

Jax: Mm-hmm.

Courtney: I can smell spring flowers. I feel grass underneath my feet, so we must be in the park. The music makes me think a picnic?

Jax: Hmm -- not bad, not correct, but a pretty good guess.

Courtney: Oh -- oh. You -- you did all this with one call?

Jax: Well, it's one of the perks of owning your own hotel. The staff are always available for special occasions, and this certainly qualifies.

Waiter: Ma'am.

Jax: Thank you.

Courtney: Thank you. You see this, this right here, Jax? This is why women envy me, because you are handsome, spontaneous, and you're constantly, constantly having fairy-tale moments for me, which is -- no -- it's beyond wonderful. I know how lucky I am. But that's not why I'm marrying you. You know, it took me a long time to understand, but now I know -- you're my safe place. I want to be that for you, the one person that you depend on and that you trust. I want to spend the rest of my life loving you the way that you've loved me, the way that you taught me to love.

Ric: Mac, what have you got?

Mac: Rachel Adair is denying she killed A.J. In fact, she's insisting he's still alive.

Ric: Why don't you give me a couple of minutes with her? I'll see if I can get anything out of her.

Rachel: Oh, they're bringing in the big guns.

Ric: Well, you are the prime suspect in the murder of a prominent Port Charles citizen.

Rachel: There was no murder. That's what I've been trying to explain to Commissioner Scorpio, but he won't hear me.

Ric: Well, I'm a good listener.

Rachel: A.J. isnít dead. He faked his own death so that he could frame Courtney.

Ric: So how'd you manage that?

Rachel: A.J. told me that he could get Courtney to the Bahamas. I didn't know how he was going to do it, but now I understand that he got word to her that they were still married. So he got her there and got her angry enough that they would fight and someone would see. Then we made sure that I was sitting next to her on the plane from the Bahamas to Miami. I kept her champagne glass full, got her talking about poisonous exes, which was easy, and then I appropriated her champagne glass. When I got to Miami, I doubled back to the Bahamas and met A.J. at his room. I mean, I'm a doctor. I can draw blood in my sleep. I got a sample from A.J. and Courtney's fingerprints from the glass and put them both on the letter opener. Then I left with the murder weapon, and A.J. did the rest. I don't know. I think he paid some people off or something.

Ric: This is really fascinating, Ms. Adair. But there's one crucial detail that you're leaving out of your story. What possible motive would A.J. have for faking his own death?

Carly: Now, you'd blame Lorenzo for global warming if there was an opening.

Jason: Carly, I understand that you guys are getting close again after the kidnappings.

Carly: Lorenzo would not take my children.

Jason: Why not? Tell me why not. He's got the motivation, he's got the money, he's dealt with Faith in the past, and you know what? It would explain the inside information that Alcazar was able to give to the cops.

Carly: And why, Jason? What does it make me, huh? So stupid, so blind that I wouldn't be able to see he'd been playing me?

Jason: Carly, I'm not saying that. Until I heard there was even a rich guy in Port Charles, I didn't suspect Alcazar either, okay? But it fits. And you have to take a look at the scenario. He could be paying someone to keep Michael. In the meantime, he's working you. He's using your grief, your vulnerability to get closer to you, and when the time is right, he rescues your son. He can be in your life for as long he wants. I mean, have you told Alcazar that Michael's alive?

Carly: Yes.

Jason: And how'd he react?

Carly: He encouraged me, Jason.

Jason: Mm-hmm.

Carly: He told me to follow my heart and he told me he'd do anything to help me find Michael.

Jason: So he could be the one to find Michael?

Carly: Jason, if you're right -- if you're right and Lorenzo did this, I swear --

Jason: Did you hear a thing I said? You cannot do something crazy right now. I'm not saying that Alcazar's the only suspect. We have to look at other people. But right now we need to look at him.

Carly: Fine. No, I'll handle it.

Jason: No --

Carly: No, I'll get it. I'll take care of it.

Jason: All right, Carly, you're not ready to handle --

Carly: Listen, let me deal with this, okay? I know how to deal with Lorenzo. Give me that. And I promise you -- I promise you I won't let him know anything.

Jason: Do you know how much is riding on you to keep your cool?

Carly: Yes. I won't do a damn thing to jeopardize getting Michael back. You have to promise me something, Jason. Jason, don't tell Sonny.

Jason: He's got a right to know.

Carly: No. Jason, he's going to assume that Lorenzo did it, and he's going to go charging after him, and he will not be able to wait. And you just told me we cannot afford any more violence.

Jason: No, we can't.

Carly: Then for Michael's sake let's keep this between us.

Reese: This is the only copy of the witness' statement. Now, this could get you and Jason both charged with the Sandoval killings. It could probably even get you convicted. The witness didn't want to talk, she was coerced, and now she's left town, she's probably even left the country, so she's not going to be any trouble for you, Sonny. And I'm betting that -- that you're not ruthless enough to want to hurt her. So you're not going to kill an innocent woman for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Sonny: Well -- thanks. What now?

Reese: I walk away. I request a transfer because I'm too close to the case, and that's it. I go on with my life and you go on with yours. And since I'm never going to see you again, I just want to leave you with this -- I saw your conscience, your soul. You're a good man, Sonny. And maybe if we had met under different circumstances -- well, who knows what could have happened? But there's no point going there, right? I wish you well. I do.

Courtney: Don't ever let me forget this moment, okay? It's perfect. And dancing under the moonlight in your arms. And whenever I get frustrated or impatient, whenever I get bogged down by the day-to-day frustrations or disappointments, just remind me how close I came to losing everything, how I got it back.

Jax: You know, if you hadn't been cleared, we'd both be fugitives, because there's no way in hell I would have let you go to prison. I would have taken you on the run kicking and screaming.

Courtney: Well, I would have gone willingly.

Jax: Oh, really?

Courtney: Yes. I'd go anywhere with you.

Jax: Well, in the interest of putting Rachel behind us and moving forward, why don't we set a date?

Courtney: I will marry you whenever and however you want. It could just be the two of us with a justice of the peace or in a cathedral with everyone we know. Jax, I'll marry you in a day, in a month -- just as long as I get to be your wife. That's all that matters.

Ric: You maintain that A.J. Quartermaine is still alive, that he went to enormous and elaborate lengths in order to fake his own death with no discernable motive, but you just came up with this startling revelation at the time that you were named as his prime suspect in his death -- a murder that was investigated by the Bahamian police.

Rachel: I told you, he paid people off.

Ric: Rachel, there are photos of his body at the crime scene. There was forensic evidence. There was an autopsy, not to mention the fact that his body was identified by Alan Quartermaine, his own father. A.J. is dead, and you killed him.

Rachel: No.

Ric: Arrest her, Mac.

Mac: Dr. Rachel Adair, you're under arrest for the murder for A.J. Quartermaine. You have the right to remain silent.

Rachel: You are making a big mistake.

Mac: Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law.

Rachel: But I didn't kill A.J.!

Mac: You have the right to an attorney. If you cannot afford one, an attorney will be appointed for you.

Carly: Thanks for meeting me here.

Lorenzo: Anytime. You all right?

Carly: Yeah. I'm here to see a psychiatrist.

Lorenzo: You?

Carly: Courtney thinks I need therapy.

Lorenzo: Why would Courtney suggest therapy?

Carly: I told her about my belief that Michael's still alive, and she pointed out to me -- rightly so, I guess -- that -- I don't know. I'm not thinking clearly and that something's got to be wrong with my mind, right, because I'm feeling him and that I'm seeing him around every corner. So I guess grief counseling's the way to go. I -- I don't know. I mean, unless you disagree? Because when you told me to trust my instincts, I mean, were you just supporting me or do you know? I mean, do you really believe that he's alive?

Lorenzo: I know he is.

Sam: I assume Carly has come and gone?

Jason: Yeah.

Sam: Jason, I ran into Carly in the park, and when she told me that Michael -- she thought he was alive, I just -- I couldn't lie to her, you know? I just -- I could relate to her, and I just felt bad --

Jason: Sam, it's okay. I understand why you told Carly.

Sam: You do?

Jason: Yeah. And she understands that we have to keep this search for Michael a secret, but the problem is I may not be here to help.

Sam: Why not?

Jason: Well, supposedly, Agent Marshall has evidence. She's ready to use it against me, and Sonny wants me to leave the country.

Sam: Okay. Jason, I'm coming with you. That's not --

Jason: I -- I'd want you to come with me, but I need your help. I need you to stay here with Carly.

Sam: Jason, come on. Carly is not going to listen to me.

Jason: Sam, if she makes one mistake, we could lose Michael. Please, I need -- I need your help. I need you just to keep an eye on her, make sure she doesn't do something crazy to tip off whoever's got Michael.

Sam: Okay. All right, I will stay, I will stay only because you asked me, but I am going to join you as soon as I can.

Jason: That's okay. That's okay.

[Phone rings]

Jason: Yeah.

Sonny: You can go ahead and unpack. Reese gave up the evidence, and you're in the clear.

Jason: What about Reese?

Sonny: She's gone.

[Phone hangs up]

Sam: What happened?

Jason: Reese gave Sonny the evidence. I guess I don't have to leave. We can focus on finding Michael.

>> On the next "General Hospital" --

Lucky: Wrap it up. I have a very special evening planned for the two of us.

A.J.: I'm going to take you on a trip around the world.

Lorenzo: I believe that Michael is alive because you believe it so strongly.

Carly: Don't tell me what you think I want to hear.

Sonny: Hey. You can't die today.
