Carly: Thanks for coming, Lorenzo, to the memorial, to the reception. I mean, I know you probably would have preferred to stay away, considering your history with Sonny.
Lorenzo: I told you I came here to support you. I meant it. There's something you need to talk about?
Carly: It's Sonny. I'm worried about him. I'm worried what he might -- I'm so sorry. You are the last person that I should ask.
Lorenzo: You're wondering what he's going to do now?
Carly: No, Lorenzo. I'm wondering what you would do. I'm wondering what you would do if you were in his place and your enemy had just shot your 9-year-old son.
Skye: I knew it. You're still here.
Luke: Hey, Blaze.
Skye: Sonny's after you.
Luke: You don't say.
Skye: His child was killed. Of course he wants to avenge him. Now, Lucky told you to get out of town.
Luke: And Lucky just came out of a coma. He's not thinking very clearly.
Skye: Why are you still sitting here?
Luke: I like this tub. We have history.
Skye: Do you want Sonny to kill you?
Luke: I got a better question. Why do you care?
Michael: Mister? You ok? You're A.J. Quartermaine.
Michael: You -- you're supposed to be dead.
Rachel: A.J., You should have landed by now. Look, I need to talk to you. The situation here is getting very complicated. You need to call me the minute that you land.
Courtney: Somebody's got you really upset.
Rachel: What, were you eavesdropping?
Courtney: I was just reacting to the tone of your voice. I've just never heard you so anxious before.
Rachel: Look, I'm just trying to get my life put back together, ok, after all our trouble.
Courtney: That you created.
Rachel: When are you going to get over that?
Courtney: Rachel, you are still living in my home.
Rachel: Look, the market's bad. It's going to take a few weeks, ok? You know, I let you out of a deal. I thought you would at least be grateful.
Courtney: Grateful? I never even made a deal with you in the first place, and now you are everywhere that I look.
Rachel: Well, I work here, Courtney. Look, that phone call was about a little boy in a desperate situation, and I really need to speak to his father.
Courtney: Rachel, you're a good doctor. Why don't you take me up on my offer? Get out of town; start your own clinic. Do some good in this world, get away from Steven and --
Rachel: And away from Jax? Is that what you're saying?
Courtney: Jax is not interested in you.
Rachel: What are you doing here anyway? What, are you following me around?
Courtney: No. I'm meeting with the board of directors to establish a grant in Michaelís memory.
Rachel: You know, it's strange. You know, first, A.J.ís stabbed and you're the prime suspect. And now this little boy's body, it's thrown in the swamp. I mean, you know that they do say that death comes in threes. It just makes you wonder who's next.
Luke: We, who are about to die, salute you.
Skye: That's not funny. You should be gone by now.
Luke: You didn't answer my question. Why do you care?
Skye: Look, I may have broken up with you, ok? That doesn't mean I want you dead.
Luke: Why did you come back? You keep coming back.
Skye: Because I thought I'd find you sitting here daring Sonny to kill you.
Luke: Did I disappoint you?
Skye: No. Actually, you've never disappointed me.
Luke: So, what, it just took you a while to figure out who you were dealing with, and once you did you decided to cut your losses and move on. I respect that, but you really need to work on the moving-on part.
Skye: Ok, I will, all right, after tonight.
Luke: I love the way you think. One more night, one more chance, one more bad habit. That's me, remember?
Skye: Luke, come on, you matter to me. Even though we can't be together, I -- I need to know that you're out there in the world causing trouble.
Skye: So I can tell myself that one day maybe we'll cross paths.
Luke: Why would you want that?
Skye: Because you're magic, Luke. You're larger than life. Even though we both knew it wouldn't last, you showed me the most amazing time. Until you, I -- I never knew that I could walk through fire or -- or sing "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" in a Blues bar in Memphis.
Luke: You canít.
Skye: Or swat at cockroaches while sleeping in a cardboard box or be grateful for a tofu burger that somebody threw out.
Luke: You hated all of that.
Skye: Oh, I never laughed so hard, until I met you.
Luke: We did laugh.
Skye: But your dark side is just way too dark, even for me. I am still in love with you, Luke. And if you ever cared about me, ever cared about me at all, you will leave town tonight, before Sonny ends your life.
Sam: Lucky, how you feeling?
Lucky: Listen, I want you to take Jason a message for me. I want you to -- I want you to tell him that my father is leaving town. I want you to ask Jason as a personal favor to me to let him live long enough to disappear.
Lorenzo: Now, there would be two options to me if I were in Sonny's place. One, I could give up this life, sever all ties to organized crime, deal only in my legitimate businesses, and hope that my associates and former rivals would believe the truth, that the death of my child had changed me profoundly and I was no longer of any threat to them.
Carly: Yeah, and would that protect your other children?
Lorenzo: I would hope and pray that it would. The truth is I and my family would always be at risk.
Carly: Ok, so option two.
Lorenzo: Consolidate power, make a show of force.
Carly: You mean kill your enemies?
Lorenzo: I mean kill them and anyone who'd ever crossed me -- any traitors, even some of my seemingly closest friends -- make myself so feared that no one would touch me.
Carly: So which one would you choose?
Lorenzo: That would depend on the woman I loved.
A.J.: Michael, listen, all this stuff about -- about me being dead is a big mix-up, ok? Look, I am fine, thanks to you. You saved my life. How about you? Are you ok?
Michael: I can run.
A.J.: You don't -- you don't have to be afraid.
Michael: I'm not.
A.J.: But I know you're confused, ok? There's a lot of things I need to explain.
Michael: Where's my brother and sister? Were they on the plane?
A.J.: Whoa, whoa, whoa, don't go near that plane, ok? It's too dangerous.
Michael: Did you kidnap us all?
A.J.: Morgan and Kristina are safe at home.
Michael: Let me go!
A.J.: Ah! Agh! Listen, Michael, ok? When I heard you were still missing, I rescued you from Faith, ok? I did not kidnap you. I saved you.
Lorenzo: If I lost a child and I were in love with his mother and I knew that we could grieve together, have a future when we felt like living again, I would try to get out of organized crime. Create a safer life; maybe disappear into academia. But if I was alone in this world and my sworn enemy had just murdered my son, I would show no mercy, and I would kill anyone even remotely connected. And then I would consolidate my power, expand my territory, and I would be hated and feared, even by members of my own family, but my family would be safe and no one would dare lay a hand on them.
Carly: Yeah. And that's what Sonny's going to do, and it is scaring me.
Lorenzo: Sonny has two other children. Maybe he can put his anger aside and give them a life he couldn't give Michael.
Carly: But Michael was Sonny's heart.
Michael: You're a jerk, a thief, and a liar.
A.J.: Yeah, well, you sure you didn't leave anything out?
Michael: My mom told me what to do when I saw you.
A.J.: Yeah, this ought to be good.
Michael: Run and run fast.
Rachel: Oh. Hi.
Jax: Is something wrong?
Rachel: No, no. Not at all.
Jax: You seem a little distracted.
Rachel: Oh, I just get too involved in my work, that's all. How are you?
Jax: I'm good. I want to -- well, I owe you an apology.
Rachel: For what?
Jax: The other night when you were concerned about me.
Rachel: Oh, you know, I shouldn't have gone over to your house. I'm sorry.
Jax: Yeah, well, you know, I shouldn't have accused you of trying to make me jealous of Jason and Courtney.
Rachel: Well, I'll accept your apology if you accept mine.
Jax: Consider it done. You know, Courtney and I have just been a little on edge about Michael.
Rachel: Of course. I mean, what happened to that little boy, it's awful, you know?
Rachel: Oh -- you know what? I've been waiting for this call. Can you excuse me?
Sam: Jason doesn't discuss his personal business with me.
Lucky: Sam, I understand, but will you just deliver the message?
Sam: You know what? It's probably a good idea your father does get out of town. He needs a vacation, Lucky, you know?
Lucky: I just saw him at the Haunted Star. We said our goodbyes. He's probably already hit the road, so Iím just -- I hope that Sonny and Jason don't try to track him down. They were all once friends. You know that?
Sam: I'll deliver the message. Come on. Jason, it's Sam. Whatever you're doing, stop now. They are onto you.
Luke: Assuming Corinthos does want me dead, what makes you think I'd be so easy to kill?
Skye: Oh, God, I was afraid you'd say something like that.
Luke: You know, you really don't understand me, Skye. What you need is a man who won't cause you anxiety or stress, somebody who shares your high moral perspective, who you don't have to justify or apologize for the choices he makes, and somebody you know where the hell he is all the time.
Skye: Well, I certainly hope such a paragon exists and he's headed my way. But even if he showed up at my doorstep tomorrow and made all my dreams come true, it'd still need to know that you're out there in the world somewhere.
Luke: I can't make you any promises.
Skye: Listen, if you die, Luke, I swear I will never forgive you.
Luke: Sure, you will. You're practical, sober, content doing the 12-step cha-cha. And even with all that negativity working against you, you're absolutely amazing. I know for a fact this last year or so would have been unbearably grim without you.
Skye: Fine. I made your life worth living. Now I'm calling in the favor -- go on living.
Luke: Oh, come on. Frank Smith's mob couldn't kill me. Cassadines -- their hit squads couldn't kill me. Sonny and his boys won't either.
Skye: What -- you've been packed up all this time? What are you still doing here?
Luke: Waiting for you.
Skye: How'd you know Iíd show up?
Luke: I'm a gambler.
Skye: Really? Well, congratulations, you've won this hand. Now go.
Luke: I'm sort of looking forward to it, you know? I'm good on the road. I really am.
Luke: Not long ago I would have asked you to go with me.
Skye: Well, maybe not so long ago I would have said yes.
Luke: It could have been so nice, catching the next plane out wherever it went and then another plane somewhere and another, never looking at this crummy town again.
Skye: Yeah, it would have been great. Although, you know I would have needed room service. I always need room service.
Luke: Yeah, you do. But you can live just fine without me.
Skye: Somehow I doubt that. And, Luke, what if I never see you again?
Luke: You will. I know you will. You're going to walk into some dive one night in Borneo or some beach bar in Belize and there Iíll be, cheating at cards or scamming the natives out of some local treasure. Or you'll stroll into a honky-tonk in New Orleans or Halifax or Saigon and Iíll be pouring drinks, with one eye on the door, waiting for you.
Skye: Will you please go? Just get as far away from here as you possibly can.
Luke: I'm on my way. Oh. Oh, we had some fun, didn't we?
Skye: Will you walk me to the door?
Luke: Do a condemned man a favor and let me watch you walk away, please. Till one night in Borneo.
Skye: One night in Borneo. I still don't get it.
Rachel: Look, if her fever's down, then that means she's getting better, ok? Just let her sleep. No, I know that it's scary but, really, it's just the flu. I understand that. You can't be with her all the time. She needs her sleep, and so do you.
Jax: Was that the call that you were waiting for?
Rachel: Unfortunately, no. It's like some parents, they call all the time, but the ones that you want to call donít. Just -- it drives you nuts.
Jax: Is there anything I can do to help?
Rachel: No, unfortunately. I'm just -- I'm waiting for the phone call from this father. His child is in serious condition.
Jax: Oh, I'm sorry I can't help you there. But perhaps we could, you know, have lunch sometime, just mend fences.
Rachel: Yeah. I mean, that sounds lovely.
Jax: Well, if you see Courtney, tell her Iíll just be over there.
Sam: Jason? Hello?
[Knock on door]
Sam: Agent Marshall.
Reese: Hi, Sam. I'm sorry to bother you at home. Is Jason here?
Carly: Sonny? Sonny?
Skye: Sonny, I know you're in there!
Max: Step away, please.
Skye: I have to see him!
Max: I'll pass along your --
Skye: No, you will let me in immediately!
Skye: I can't wait for a phone call!
Carly: You know what?
Skye: I have to get in to see him!
Carly: Hey --
Skye: Where's Sonny?
Max: Sorry, Mrs. C. I'll escort her off the --
Carly: It's ok. You know what? Let her in. Hey -- what --
Skye: I know this is a bad time, but I really have to see Sonny.
Carly: Well, he's not seeing anyone right now.
Skye: Carly, I don't know if you realize this, but Luke and I were the ones --
Carly: Who got Faith out of prison? Who made it possible for her to kidnap three children and kill Michael? Yeah, I know.
Skye: Carly, words can't express to you how sorry I am, how -- how deeply I regret what happened but -- but Luke and I, we could never guess that Faith would do what she did. We thought she was just going to leave the country. We made a terrible mistake.
Carly: Well, at least you have the decency to be sorry. I'm not sure Luke thinks he did anything wrong.
Skye: Fine. Luke can be misguided and he can be arrogant --
Skye: But he can also be brave and resourceful and loyal. And he doesn't deserve to die.
Rachel: Forget something?
Jax: Oh -- hey, thanks.
Rachel: You know, my cell phone has vanished. You didn't pick it up by mistake, did you?
Jax: Oh, you know, maybe that's why Iím not recognizing any of these numbers. Uh-oh. This is embarrassing. This is my cell phone. See, they're almost identical. No wonder I couldn't speed-dial my broker.
Rachel: Well, it takes a great man to admit a technological error.
Jax: Well, promise you won't tell anyone, ok?
Rachel: Not a word. Oh -- this is yours.
Jax: Oh, thank you. You know, I make my living juggling money in computers.
Rachel: Oh, anybody can do that. But a cell phone? Oh, that's a real challenge.
Jax: Yeah, you're right. Yep, that's right.
Courtney: Hey, you two.
Courtney: What's so funny?
Rachel: Oh, it's a long story.
Jax: Oh, I'll explain at dinner.
Courtney: Well, let's go because I'm starving.
Jax: Well, we can't have that, now, can we? Thanks for clearing things up.
Rachel: No problem at all.
Reese: I understand that different people grieve in different ways. Sonny has shut down, and Jason needs to piece together the facts.
Sam: Yeah, well, that seems to be true.
Reese: I thought he might want to see a copy of the F.B.I. report, so I brought one over.
Sam: Can you do that?
Reese: Yeah. Well, the case is closed so, you know, the file is public. I don't know if it'll do any good, but I thought --
Sam: Thank you. Thank you.
Reese: You know, the money transfers don't make sense to me either, but most cases close with a few loose ends.
Sam: Agent Marshall, Jason doesn't want Sonny or Carly knowing that he's pursuing this any further.
Reese: I understand.
Sam: Ok, he just doesn't want them to get their hopes up.
Reese: Do you know where Jason is?
Sam: What, is there something else?
Reese: I'm sure you'd agree that Michaelís death changes everything.
Reese: I mean, it was a terrible tragedy, but maybe something good could come of it.
Sam: Yeah, maybe.
Reese: I made Sonny an offer. The F.B.I. will stop any investigation in exchange for some information. Sonny also has to agree to leave the mob. I can set up a similar arrangement for Jason.
Sam: Jason and Sonny are in the coffee business.
Reese: Kristina and Morgan deserve a better life than Michael had. Michael's death will be for nothing if Jason and Sonny don't take this opportunity. The F.B.I. will stop them long before their enemies do. Sam, I appreciate your loyalty, and I believe that you love Jason and you want a life with him, but this offer is not going to be on the table forever. Will you ask Jason to encourage Sonny to consider it?
Carly: Look, Sonny is grieving for our little boy. He can't be bothered with Luke right now.
Skye: Even though Luke broke Faith out of prison?
Carly: What do you want? Really, what is it you want? You want Sonny to say it's ok?
Skye: I want Sonny's word that he won't try to kill Luke. I want a chance to explain to Sonny that it was a horrible mistake --
Carly: That Luke would do the same thing again, because he would, because Luke -- Luke takes care of Luke.
Skye: No, Luke -- Luke was protecting me because I'd --
Carly: Don't, don't even kid yourself here, ok? If Luke saved you, which he did, it was because it suited him at the time -- because he likes you, because you were sleeping together, because he's bored. You know what? I don't know and I don't really care. Luke did what he felt like doing. And if there were any justice in this world, Sonny would kill him. But he won't.
Skye: How can you be so sure?
Carly: Because they were friends once and because Sonny is going to honor that friendship. He's going to take into consideration his family, and that is Lucky and Lulu and my mother. He's not going to let them grieve the way that we are grieving for Michael right now, so don't you worry, Skye. Luke's safe.
Jax: You know, the way this works is you actually eat something.
Courtney: I ate at the reception.
Jax: No, you didn't. I was watching you. You were taking care of Carly. You were thanking people for coming and you were listening to them tell you stories about Michael.
Courtney: You know, it's strange. I honestly don't even remember. I mean, except for the reading I gave at mass and the conversation I had with Carly, the rest of it is just a blur. Oh, you know, I -- I just finished that meeting with the hospital board. You know, I don't know if we've decided on improvements on the neonatal unit or a pediatric playhouse.
Jax: I'll tell you what. Why don't I call the hospital, and I'll tell them I want to make a matching donation in Michaelís name, and Iím sure they'll tell me what it's for.
Courtney: Oh, Jax, you have a solution for everything.
Jax: I wish I did.
Courtney: Oh, you know, I -- I think the reason Iím just having trouble focusing is I just -- I don't want this day to be real. You know, I want it to be a long, scary dream, and when I wake up Michaelís still alive, you know, and I get to take him to that Yankees game in New York this summer like I promised, instead of writing checks to worthy causes in his memory.
A.J.: Hey. You explore the whole island? Are you hungry? We -- we're going to be stranded here for a while. We're castaways, so we're going to have to rely on each other. You saved my life. Now I want to save yours. Listen, I found some food. The cookies aren't bad. Some peanuts and some water. You're going to have to eat sooner or later.
Michael: I'll find my own food.
A.J.: Ok. Yeah, kind of dark out there. Hmm. Cold, too, huh? Aren't you cold? I mean, you're welcome to sit by the fire. Cookie?
Michael: I don't want anything from you.
A.J.: I wish I would have known that. I would have left some food for you to dig out in the wreckage. We may be here for a while.
Michael: I don't care. I'm never going to trust you.
[Knock on door]
Carly: No, Sonny's not seeing anyone.
Sam: I'm sorry.
Carly: Yeah, I don't know why people keep showing up here.
Sam: Carly, who showed up?
Carly: Skye Quartermaine.
Sam: Great. Then she knows, too.
Carly: Stay out of it.
Sam: I am assuming that you do know that Sonny sent Jason after Luke, Carly.
Carly: Sam, this is not your concern.
Sam: Yeah, I know, but something is not right here.
Carly: Why do you think that?
Sam: Because Lucky showed up at Kellyís and he knew all about it, and then Reese showed up at Jasonís.
Carly: What? Oh, damn.
Sam: She wanted to know where he was, but I obviously didn't say anything.
Sam: Do you know that Reese offered Sonny a deal to turn state's evidence?
Carly: You know that's never going to happen.
Sam: I know, but she said that the F.B.I. is going to get to him before his enemies do and, I don't know, that's the way she put it.
Carly: She's playing you.
Sam: Yeah, maybe. But that is not the point here. Something isn't right. Too many people know too much. Jason is walking into a trap. If he goes after Luke tonight, he's going to get caught.
Carly: Jason knows what he's doing. Ok. He knows how to handle business, when to do it and when not to.
Jax: You know, you can make a charitable grant in Michaelís name. It's a nice thing to do. But Michael would want you to live life to the fullest. He'd want you to go to that baseball game, go exploring and eat ginger snaps and drink a big glass of milk and laugh until your sides hurt. Michael loved you. That's what he would want for you.
Courtney: Yeah, you're right. Michael would want me to be happy. Yeah, I will be again someday, because I have you. Oh, Jax, I love you so much. And I don't want to lose you.
Jax: You're not going to lose me. You still can't quite believe that, can you?
Courtney: You know, my instincts are always to handle things on my own, and I know that drives you crazy. But I realize that's what I've been doing with Rachel, and -- Jax, I need --
[Jax breathes loudly]
Courtney: Jax? Hey, my God. Oh, Jax.
Rachel: A.J., It's me again. You need to call me back now.
Rachel: Do you believe in destiny?
A.J.: Sure -- if I get something out of it.
Rachel: Maybe that's why we're here.
A.J.: Because I couldn't take my eyes off you? Is that fate or beauty?
Rachel: Hmm. I don't know. But, I mean, to meet on a beach in the Bahamas, two black sheep with ties to Port Charles, New York, of all places -- that has to be fate.
A.J.: Hmm. Or the perfect opportunity to get the last laugh. And all you have to do is help me fake my own death.
A.J.: I understand that you don't trust me. It doesn't hurt my feelings. It's what Sonny and Carly taught you. It isn't fair. You shouldn't hate your real father, but --
Michael: You're not my real father. You're my biological father.
A.J.: What's the difference?
Michael: A real dad lives in the same house as the kids.
A.J.: Does Sonny always live in the same house with you?
Michael: My dad bought me a big house, and he's looking for me right now, so shut up.
A.J.: Michael, Sonny will never be your biological father, which means he's not your real father.
Michael: That's a lie.
A.J.: Ok. It's what he thinks. It's what he told me.
Michael: You talked to my dad?
A.J.: Oh, yeah. Sure. I called him right after I got you away from Faith.
Michael: Where is he? What did he say?
A.J.: I don't know how to tell you this -- um -- because it hurts. Sonny has another son and a daughter, and he is their biological father, like Iím yours.
Michael: My dad told me all about this. He loves me just as much.
A.J.: Well, the thing is he's had a chance to spend some time with his real kids without you around, and --
Michael: I am his real kid.
A.J.: Then why did you keep running away, Michael? Huh? Why did you yell at your mother, disobey Sonny? Why did you upset both of them just to get your own way? Look, I didn't want to do this, not tonight. Sonny -- Michael, Sonny's busy. Look, he doesn't have time to deal with a son he can't depend on, who's in trouble all the time. So he -- he gave you back to me.
Michael: No, he didnít.
A.J.: I wanted to give you back, but he -- he told me to keep you, for good.
Michael: My dad would never say that.
A.J.: I know that this is a tough way to find out, buddy, but Sonny doesn't want you anymore.
Lucky's voice: I just saw my dad at the Haunted Star, and we said our goodbyes. He's probably already hit the road by now. I hope that Sonny and Jason don't try to track him down. They were all once friends. Did you know that?
Jason: Sonny was right. He said you'd show.
Luke: Did he?
Jason: He said you'd come to settle this, Luke.
Luke: As opposed to waiting for you to come put a bullet in my head? You bet. But, hey, I understand the deal here. Faith snatched his kids, made him look weak on the street. You have to make an example of this bud who busted her out of jail. I know it's nothing personal. The fact Iím an old friend of his, former partner, that sweetens the deal, makes it real clear that he stands firm, shows no mercy.
Jason: Luke, if you know all of this, why didn't you know to leave Faith where she was?
Luke: It was business, Jason. Just business. Just like this. You want me dead because you messed up. You should have killed the bitch when you had a chance.
Jason: It doesn't matter what I want. Sonny gives the orders. He gets to decide what happens.
>> On the next "General Hospital" --
Courtney: Jax had a seizure and collapsed.
Rachel: Don't worry; I'll take good care of Jax.
A.J.: You're not his flesh and blood. You're mine.
Skye: I need you to find Jason and stop him.
Sonny: I'm glad you're here, Luke. Anybody who threatens my family will be eliminated.
