Father Coates: Oh, excuse me. Carly, hi.
Carly: Father, hi. Thank you. Thank you so much for presiding over Michaelís service.
Father Coates: I just hope that I was able to provide some comfort for you and Sonny.
Carly: You know, I try to believe that Michaelís with God, but I don't think I'm ever going to understand why a wonderful little boy who brought nothing but happiness to the world was -- it doesn't make --
Father Coates: I know. I know it's hard. But I'm here for you if you need me. So if you want to call or come by at anytime and talk --
Father Coates: You got it.
Carly: Excuse me, please.
Father Coates: Sure.
Carly: Are you going in to see Sonny?
Jason: How's he doing?
Carly: He went into the living room. He's had himself shut up in there. I went to go in afterwards, and Max just shut the door in my face.
Jason: All right, Iíll talk to him.
Carly: I'm scared. Sonny -- he's just -- he's so shut off. It's like he's got this mask on that's completely blank -- no feelings, no emotions, no nothing, and all his pain, all his anger is underneath. He's not letting anyone see it. I'm afraid he's going to hurt somebody or he's going to hurt himself.
Jason: Sonny --
Sonny: Is the reception over?
Sonny: I couldn't deal with it, you know? All those people saying "Iím sorry," and -- I don't know. I guess that was rude.
Jason: Max said you wanted to see me about Luke.
Sonny: Yeah, we have to figure out how we're going to deal with him.
Jason: You know Luke should die for what he did.
Skye: Thanks for coming.
Luke: You look nice. I guess you went to Michaelís memorial service?
Skye: Uh -- yes. And it's given me time to think. You see, Luke, joining you on your adventures has been like taking a drink when I know better. You're like alcohol to me and you're a destructive pattern that I need to break. So, this is goodbye.
Sam: Excuse me -- can you page Dr. Steven Webber for me? Thank you.
Reese: I just saw him. He's down in the lab.
Sam: Agent Marshall -- hi. Maybe you can help me with something.
Reese: With what?
Sam: Um -- is there any way that you could show me the photograph of Michael that the hit man was going to send to Sonny?
Reese: Jason's already seen it.
Sam: I know, I know, but I would like to see it for myself.
Reese: You're not convinced that Michaelís really dead.
Carly: Hey. I just -- I needed some fresh air.
Courtney: Yeah, of course.
Carly: I want to do this, you know. I can, for Michael. It sounds so crazy, I just -- I want to make him proud of me.
Courtney: Oh, Carly. Michael was proud of you. He was.
Carly: It was so strange the things that go through your head at a time like this. You know, I was -- I was giving Morgan his food tonight and he was eating strained peas. Strained peas? Michael never would eat them, you know? But ever since he was a baby, he hated vegetables. He was just like me. And I find myself asking, "Who am I going to eat frozen pizza and junk food with and" -- I can't go to this.
Courtney: Carly --
Carly: I can't even go there right now because you know what I got to do? I got to go back over there and I have to say "thank you." I have to say "thank you" to people for coming.
Courtney: Carly, I can do it. I can do it.
Carly: No, you know, I want to. I just wanted to talk about Michael for a minute, you know, and -- how do you make polite conversation? How do you make polite conversation with people after your child's memorial? How do you do that? God.
Courtney: It's just so wrong. Oh, I just want to start screaming or smashing something. I sound like Sonny.
Carly: Yeah. Maybe it's a good idea, you know? Maybe he's had it right all along. Why don't we go into his living room and just let loose on his bar where, you know, we could just smash all of his --
Courtney: If you think it would help, I am all for it. Hey.
Carly: This helps. This helps -- talking to you, you know? Don't you know how much Michael loved you? And you loved Michael. Courtney, thank you so much. Thank you for always giving him a safe place to go when he was frustrated or when he was upset.
Courtney: Yeah. Carly, do you know what we talked about those times?
Carly: Yeah, I know how we made him crazy.
Courtney: Yeah, partly, yeah. But we also talked about how great you were. Oh, Carly. Yeah, you -- you tried to play video games. You tried to tell jokes, even though you got the punch line wrong. But Michael, he -- he always talked himself into going back home because he loved you and he wanted to be with you. You know, he told me once that he had the best mom in the world.
Carly: Oh --
Courtney: It's ok. Ok. It's ok.
Jason: We got serious problems with the Sandovals. Our business has shut down since the kids were taken. They have moved in because we've been too distracted to stop them.
Sonny: Killing Luke is going to fix this how?
Jason: Luke betrayed you by setting Faith free whether you want to see it or not, Sonny.
Sonny: And the fact that Luke and I used to be business partners, friends, the fact that I -- I, you know, went camping with his son or that he gave you your first job -- that means nothing to you?
Jason: Well, would the kids have been kidnapped if Faith were still in prison?
Sonny: This isn't about business for you. It's about revenge. Killing Luke is not going to bring Michael back.
Jason: Sonny, you're a target. People are waiting to take you out. Everyone in our business knows Luke busted Faith out! You want Luke to live, let him live, but that makes us look weak. And that could get you killed.
Skye: You walked away in the middle of our discussion.
Luke: What's to discuss? You said you wanted out, so go.
Skye: So that's it?
Luke: Clean and simple.
Skye: Oh, come on, Luke. Nothing between us has ever been simple. Why should goodbye be any different?
Sam: Can I please see the photograph?
Reese: All right. But the bureau has already run comprehensive tests on it. This photo is not doctored.
Sam: Well, maybe somehow it was staged.
Reese: Well, according to the experts, this image is real. Michael's lying dead in a swamp, Sam.
Sam: Is the F.B.I. still searching for his body?
Reese: Yeah, but it's just a formality at this point. There's over half a million acres of swamp in this section of Louisiana. We may never find the body.
Sam: Well, until we do, there's still hope that Michael is alive.
Reese: Statistically, yeah, I suppose that's a possibility. But as far as the bureau is concerned, this case is closed.
Sam: Jason doesn't think so. He won't let go.
Luke: There are no surprises here -- we're both intelligent people. We knew we were mismatched from the start.
Skye: And that start would be?
Luke: The first night when I broke into your house, took you hostage.
Skye: Oh, gee, I don't know how we could've gotten off on the wrong foot from there.
Luke: Neither one of us was looking for a relationship.
Skye: Well, it happened despite the odds.
Luke: We had some laughs because we needed them, both of us. The laughs ended; so did we.
Skye: Oh, it was more than that, Luke, and you know it. When I was out at that parapet at Wyndemere hallucinating from being drugged, I could've killed myself, but you showed up and you saved me and you told me that night how much I meant to you.
Luke: Look, look, we don't need to rehash this. You want to say goodbye? You want to go, go!
Skye: I owe you more than that.
Luke: Not in my book.
Skye: Hey, you know what? I saved you, too, when I found you out on that bluff after Stefan Cassadine committed suicide and you were downing that bottle of whiskey and you were about to go over the edge yourself, but I grabbed you and I stopped you and you told me that when you save somebody's life, you're responsible for it.
Luke: That's always been a great pickup line, don't you think?
Skye: You meant every word!
Luke: You don't actually believe the crap that comes out of my mouth? Come on, Skye, you're too smart for that.
Skye: Hey, Iím smart enough to know that we made a connection, ok? Something real and strong, something that we never thought would ever come along again in our lives.
Luke: I don't understand this. You said it was a bad habit you wanted to break. You said goodbye. What are you doing -- changing your mind?
Skye: No. I'm saying I --
Luke: What you're saying is that when things get messy, you bail. And -- and you see dots that I don't connect like we busted Faith out of prison and then Corinthos' kid, he got killed.
Skye: No. What I can't handle is the fact that you won't take responsibility for your part in a little boy's death!
Sonny: You're saying it's Lukeís life or mine?
Jason: Could be. Sonny, you know Luke understands this business.
Jason: He knew the risk he was taking by setting Faith free.
Sonny: Why isn't it our fault for letting her live as long as we did?
Jason: We let Faith live as a favor to Luke and he gave his word that he would control her and he couldnít. And then Faith was finally in prison, he couldn't leave that alone, either.
Sonny: Ok, you know what? A lot of what you're saying is right, but that doesn't take into consideration the friendship I had with Luke for years. First of all, he killed Frank Smith, which gave me the opening to take over. He was my business partner in that club for years. I watched his son grow up; he watched Stone get sick and die. One night, some of my competitors came to take me out; they hit my apartment and his house at the same time. His wife and kids were there -- they all could've been dead because of me! So are you telling me I can't own this one mistake? I can't look away for a man who was once my friend?
Jason: Michael was your son.
Sonny: Ok. Yeah. Whew.
Jason: Sonny, Luke contributed to Michaelís death and he needs to pay. And you know killing Luke is going to make Morgan and Kristina safer.
Sonny: Do it.
Carly: Jason. What's -- Jason? How's Sonny? What's going on?
Jason: He's ok.
Carly: He's not ok, Jason. What is going on?
Jason: I'm dealing with it.
Carly: Dealing with what?
Jason: At this point, it's business.
Carly: Jason, Sonny is grieving right now and he cannot think straight -- you know that. I know you're grieving, too, but you have to be the voice of reason right now. Sonny canít. Sonny? Sonny, what's going on? What did you just send Jason to do?
Skye: Luke, don't get me wrong -- Iím not holding myself up as some shining example of morality.
Luke: Oh, God, I hate that word.
Skye: Hey, you know what? That word has gotten a really bad rap, you know that? It doesn't -- it doesn't mean "narrow-minded" or "judgmental." You know what that word means? It means "code of behavior of right human conduct." You know, it's funny the things that stick in your head. I actually had to learn what that meant when I was 12 years old for an English class. The point being that there are lines that we won't cross; things we can't do. Now, Iíll admit that my list is somewhat short, but I can't hurt a child and I can't stand the fact that I'm partly responsible for one being killed.
Luke: I got that. Oh, believe me, I get that loud and clear. But I don't see myself as responsible for any of it and that won't change! So Iíve taken your point. Maybe it's better if we don't see each other anymore.
Skye: Fine. Wow. You know, I really thought that you were a kindred soul, somebody with similar flaws and weaknesses; somebody who battled the same demons that I did. The feeling I had with you, being known and accepted probably for the first time in my life, has been indescribably precious to me. But all of a sudden, it just cost too much.
John: Any update on the Corinthos investigation?
Reese: I just got the assignment.
John: Yeah, well, there's no time to waste. You've laid the groundwork; you won Sonny's confidence --
John: Now use it. Put him away.
Reese: For God's sake, Durant, the man just lost his child. He's grieving.
John: The man is making up for lost time. The Sandoval crime family has been moving in, setting up shop in Sonny's territory while he's been out looking for his kids. They keep pushing Sonny; he is going to need to push back soon.
Reese: I told Agent Marquist and now I'm telling you, I will do this my way.
John: Ah, which means you're going to do nothing.
Reese: That's not what I said.
John: Look, lady, I have already lost one grandson. I am not about to lose another one. The only way I can protect Carly and Morgan is to get them away from Sonny.
Reese: Then you should be telling this to Carly, not to me.
John: I already have. She won't listen. Now, Iím going to do the next best thing -- I'm going to make sure that Sonny Corinthos goes to prison for a very, very long time.
Sonny: I'm taking steps to protect my family.
Carly: Ok, what kind of steps?
Sonny: It's business.
Carly: I already got that from Jason.
Sonny: Well, then you got to respect it. What Jason is doing is for you, Kristina, and Morgan. He's ensuring that you never get hurt.
Carly: Look, Sonny, I'm not asking you for details, ok? But you are devastated by Michaelís death and I am just not sure that you're thinking clearly right now.
Sonny: I'm thinking fine!
Carly: Are you sure?
Sonny: Jason is just -- he's sending out a message that whoever comes after my family is going to pay.
Carly: You know that nothing you do is going to bring Michael back.
Sonny: Don't you think I know that? I promised you Iíd keep my kid safe. I promised Michael the same thing, told him that nothing was ever going to happen to him and I -- I -- whew. My son died and I'm going to make sure that no harm comes to the other one.
Carly: And what if it makes things worse, Sonny? I mean, what if it just escalates the violence?
Sam: Hey. What are you doing?
Jason: Following the money trail to see where it goes.
Sam: Any new leads?
Jason: Not yet.
Sam: Not yet. Are you still thinking someone else was involved?
Jason: There's no other explanation for the money Faith got paid when the kids were taken.
Sam: Look. Jason, I just got done speaking with Reese.
Jason: Yeah, and she thinks it's a closed case. Maybe she's right, Sam, but I still need my answers.
Sam: And the F.B.I. experts went over the photo of Michael and there is nothing to indicate that it was doctored or staged. Which means Michael is almost certainly gone.
Skye: I just -- I'd like to know how you feel about all this.
Luke: No, you wouldn't.
Skye: Listen, I'm not saying you should hold yourself responsible for Michaelís death --
Luke: Yes, you are! And I won't do it. I won't make guilt an absolution of focus in my life.
Skye: It's that thing that's always bothered you, huh? That searching moral inventory. The fact that you have to look at what you've done and see what it's caused the people around you. But you know what? I can't stand the fact that I set Faith free, and she killed a little boy. So Iím saying goodbye. But I'd also like to thank you for saving me and rescuing me, and for showing me one hell of a good time. But mostly, for the time you said you loved me. I love you, too, Luke. I'm sorry we couldn't make it work out.
John: Carly -- Carly, I wish you'd reconsider your decision to stay here with Sonny.
Carly: It's only for a while.
John: A while is still long enough to put you in danger.
Carly: Ok, can we drop this, please?
John: Absolutely, as soon as you pack up your stuff, move back to your apartment -- or at least go stay at Bobbieís.
Carly: No. Morgan needs his mother and his father.
John: All right, so let Sonny visit.
Carly: Do you know that that is just not enough? It's not enough, because Michael was a constant in Morganís life. And now, he's gone. And Morgan doesn't understand why. I'm sorry, but he needs some reassurance. He needs some consistency. He needs his mother and father to be there so he doesn't wonder why all of a sudden they're not going to show up, too.
John: Morgan's father is gearing up for a mob war. Sonny is going to hunt down anybody who had anything to do with helping Faith, working for her, or getting her out of prison. And when he retaliates, he is going to destroy them.
Reese: How you doing, Sonny?
Sonny: It's been a tough day. Glad it's over, you know? Thank you for coming to the memorial/reception.
Reese: I wanted to pay my respects.
Sonny: I appreciate it.
Reese: I took what happened to Michael very personally.
Sonny: Yeah, I know.
Reese: Nothing about this case has been routine for me, Sonny.
Sonny: You going back to Washington tonight?
Reese: No. I'm not going back at all. There's been a change of plan. Actually, I'm staying here in Port Charles in my official capacity as a federal agent.
Sonny: I'm back to being your number one assignment.
Jason: I'll need your help tracking Faith's money back to where it started.
Sam: Ok. Have you told Sonny and Carly what you're doing?
Sam: Carly is probably pretty resourceful. She could be useful in this situation.
Jason: Because Carly will tell herself not to get her hopes up, but she will. And then she'll start believing Michaelís alive. She'll actually start to count on it. And if it -- if it turns out Michaelís gone, you know, she'll go through the pain of losing him all over again, and I can't set her up to have her heart broken twice.
Sam: Even though that's exactly what you're doing right now?
Michael: Who's there? Where are you?
Man: In here. In here!
Man: The chair -- the chair over here -- I'm stuck. My leg is injured. Ah!
Michael: I can't lift it.
Man: We have to get out of here!
Michael: I can't move it.
Man: Oh, the fuel -- this plane is going to explode.
Reese: During the search for Michael, you went against all your instincts and you opened up to me. I'm a federal agent, yet you told me about your operations, other mob leaders. You gave me incriminating facts and figures, Sonny.
Sonny: Things you could use against me, right?
Reese: The point is, is that you would have done anything to save your children.
Sonny: I had no choice.
Reese: You trusted me.
Sonny: You know what? When I realized you we doing everything you could to get my children back, you earned my trust.
Reese: Well, I'm asking you to trust me again. I'm offering you a way to protect your other son. Give me hard facts. Everything you know about other mob families -- their operations.
Sonny: Turn informant? Is that what you're saying you want me to do?
Reese: I'll protect you. You'll never have to testify as a witness. Cooperating will get the F.B.I. off your back, and you can live a life that's safe for your kids. You say that's what you want. I'm giving you the chance to have it.
Sonny: You don't know me at all.
Lucky: Listen, I just came from Sonny's. They had a reception after the memorial. But listen, I heard that Sonny might be looking to avenge Michaelís death by going after anyone -- that's anyone -- who ever helped Faith.
Luke: Yeah. So?
Lucky: Well, you're the one that broke Faith out of prison.
Luke: So you think that's enough for Corinthos to want me dead?
Lucky: Well, you are partly responsible for what happened to Michael so, yeah, I can see why Sonny would want to come after you and kill you.
Luke: You, too, huh? So tell me why you're here.
Lucky: Well, because I don't just want to stand by and watch you die!
Luke: You mean, just like I didn't want to stand by and watch you die?
Lucky: Will you just stop and listen for once? Listen, when I heard about Sonny and what he wanted to do, my first impulse was just to run over here to warn you. Well, maybe it's just because I don't want Bobbie and Lulu to have to deal with losing you. Or maybe it's because I just don't want to deal with losing you, either. You're my father. And you have given me -- you've given me years worth of memories -- the things that we did. The adventures that we took, the road trips that we had. And no matter how I've ever disappointed you, you told me -- you told me that you loved me. And I love you, Dad. I love you so much. And I'm asking you -- no, I'm begging you -- I'm begging you to go. I want you to hide, and I want you to stay away till this thing blows over, do you hear me? Please, just -- I just want you to promise me, Dad -- just promise me.
Luke: Ok. Consider me gone. Consider me gone.
Jason: Sam, I can't -- I can't stop until somebody finds a body or I've exhausted every lead possible. I know it doesn't make any sense, but I got --
Sam: No, Jason, it does. It does make sense. Look, you are doing this because you have to for yourself and for Michael.
Jason: You don't -- you don't have to help me.
Sam: I want to. Jason, you are not alone anymore, ok? Hey, I'm here for you. And I love you.
Jason: I -- I got to work tonight.
Jason: Yeah. This is going to be a dangerous time. I just want you to be careful.
Lucky: Contact me when you can, ok?
Luke: Sure, if that's what you want.
Jason: I got to get ready.
Lucky: Hey, Dad?
Lucky: Take care.
Luke: Sure. You, too.
Luke: Thanks for the heads-up.
Man: Go get a piece of wood or pipe!
Man: Oh. Ok, good, good.
Man: Now push! Keep trying.
Man: That's it! Push! Oh, God. Oh.
Lucky: Skye, I just saw my dad and there's something you need to know.
Skye: Yeah, well, maybe you shouldn't tell me, ok? We just broke up.
Lucky: I'm sorry.
Skye: Yeah, well, I'm not. Well, that's not true. I am. But I'm not changing my mind.
Lucky: Well, I just thought you needed to know that he's leaving town.
Lucky: Well, Sonny may be after my father for revenge. I told him, and I asked him to leave town right away so he'd be safe.
Skye: And he agreed?
Skye: Well, Lucky, I don't care what Lukeís told you, but the state of mind he's in right now -- he's not going to make an effort to save himself.
Lucky: But if he knows Sonny's out to get him --
Skye: He's going to stay right where he is and dare Sonny to kill him.
Sonny: You've been laying the groundwork for this from day one.
Reese: That is not true.
Sonny: That is -- you want me to turn state's evidence so you can get a pat on the back from the bureau? Maybe a raise, even a promotion? You've been using my children's kidnapping as an excuse to work me.
Reese: I hate that I couldn't stop what happened to Michael. And I hate watching you suffer. I'm offering you a way out so that you can protect Morgan and never have to go through this again.
Sonny: All I got to do is give up all my inside information?
Reese: That's right.
Sonny: Right, right. What if I don't take the deal? You're going to go to the feds anyway, right?
Reese: Sonny, you have to take the deal.
Sonny: Why, because it's your job to make me?
Reese: Michael is dead because you're in the mob. That leaves you with limited options -- all of them eventually leading to more violence.
Sonny: Don't tell me what my options are.
Reese: The Sandoval crime family is already moving into your territory. That means you're going to fight back, which leaves your other son at risk. Now, Sonny, I know that you'll do everything you can to protect Morgan, just like you did Michael. But let's face it -- that may not be enough. Sonny, make Michaelís death count for something. I'm offering you a chance to save your family and yourself. Take it.
Sam: Jason -- Be careful.
Sonny: Change in plans.
Michael: Hey -- hey, mister -- mister -- you ok?
Michael: You're A.J. Quartermaine.
>> On the next "General Hospital" --
Rachel: I need to talk to you. You need to call me --
Skye: You're still here. Do you want Sonny to kill you?
Lorenzo: You're wondering what Sonny's going to do now.
Carly: I'm wondering what you would do.
A.J.: Michael, you don't have to be afraid.
Michael: No -- you're supposed to be dead.
