Sam: Jason, don't come near me.

Jason: Sam, I know you're hurting.

Sam: You're not. It didn't bother you at all to make me hand that child over to a stranger.

Jason: Rita is Hope's great-grandmother. She's --

Sam: Really? Hope doesn't know that! All she knows is us, but that didn't matter to you!

Jason: This was the best solution for Hope. No way was that judge ever going to give us custody!

Sam: No legal way, but you break the law whenever you feel like it -- for money, for power, on Sonny's almighty orders! But when it comes to raising the little girl who was supposed to be ours, all of a sudden you're this upstanding, law-abiding citizen? You are the biggest hypocrite I have ever known, and even more, you're a bigger liar!

Alexis: I'm not trying to be argumentative.

Carly: Since when?

Alexis: I would like our daughter to have a loving and a healthy relationship with you, but that takes time. At this point, she barely knows you. You're this nice man that she sees once in a while that suddenly she's calling "Daddy." Give her a minute to discover what that means. It's going to take some time.

Sonny: You know what? You can think that if it's going to make you feel better but, you know, the time issue doesn't bother me because I bought this property for one reason. I didn't want Kristinaís mother to have to worry about her when, you know, she's going to be spending a lot of time with her dad.

Man: It's ok, Kristina. You can come with me. I'm taking you to meet a friend.

Connor: I love you, ever since the first day I saw you.

[Emily screams]

Jason: Will you just sit with me, Sam?

Sam: No. You can't make this better, Jason. You made me give away the child I love to a stranger. I thought I could depend on you.

Jason: Sam, you can. But, in this case, I couldn't change anything. This is the only way it could've ended. The adoption wasn't final. Bridget wanted her baby back. We knew that was a risk. One way or the other, Hope was going to be taken away from us.

Sam: What are you, psychic? How can you know that, Jason?

Jason: You know what? We could've fought, we could've gone to court, we would've lost, even if Rita hadn't shown up! The judge is not going to put Hope in our care before foster care! It's not going to happen!

Sam: Well, I don't see the difference, frankly! Rita, foster care -- the result is the same! That little girl is sleeping with strangers instead of upstairs in her own bed! There are other ways we could've gone!

Jason: Yeah, there are. One -- I could've found a weakness in the judge and blackmailed her and threatened her and Bridget and Bridgetís grandmother. We could've stole this baby! But how is that right?

Sam: "How is that right?" You are unbelievable. Where are your high-flying morals when Sonny and Carly forced Michaelís father out of his life? Huh? No qualms about breaking the law then or doing what was right.

Jason: No, Sonny and Carly were rescuing Michael from an alcoholic father who was trying to use him as a pawn in Quartermaine family politics. It was like in the beginning -- you and I thought we were rescuing Hope from a teenage mother who wasn't equipped to raise her, but the situation changed. Rita walked in; it was her family. She's mature, she's responsible, she has money, she has a good home, she's going to give Hope a good life, Sam.

Sam: Not as good as the one we could've given her, Jason.

Jason: Sam, Hope was put in our care so we can help her --

Sam: Oh, Jason, just shut up! Stop trying to justify the inexcusable! The truth is you never loved Hope, just like you never loved me.

Man: Hey, don't be scared. I'm a friend. I gave you back Angel Bear, didn't I?

Max: You can run, Michael, but you can't hide.

Michael: Can't catch me!

Max: Oh, that's cute -- hide behind your little sister, will you? Huh? Huh? Huh? Huh?

Alexis: I don't object to Kristina coming here for a visit -- much. Bombarding her with presents is a problem for me. There needs to be some boundaries, some limits, maybe some agreements between the two of us.

Sonny: Like what?

Alexis: Ok, how about presents on birthdays, Christmas? Easter baskets on Easter? Costumes on Halloween?

Sonny: You want me to feed her bread and water, too, or --

Alexis: Bombarding her with presents every time she crosses your threshold isn't fair because it's desensitizing her. It takes the "special" out of special occasions.

Sonny: That's good.

Carly: It also makes Kristina look forward to seeing Sonny. Isn't that what you really object to?

Alexis: I don't expect you to understand at all what Iím trying to say. I mean, you have no problem with him overindulging your children. Obviously, we have different ideas on parenting.

Carly: Yeah, obviously, we do.

Max: Here you go.

Carly: Hey!

Michael: We -- you should've seen us. Kristina and --

Carly: Hey!

Michael: We totally ambushed Max.

Alexis: Where did she -- where did you find Angel Bear? This bear's been missing for weeks! Hey.

Helena: He's dead. He's dead, isn't he? Oh, God -- oh, I knew that girl was poison. Oh, why wouldn't anyone listen to me? Oh, you will be avenged.  You claim that you want to be with Nikolas always? Your wish is about to come true.

Emily: You don't understand.

Helena: Oh, that's the tragedy -- I understand all too well. I warned Nikolas that you would destroy him, that you were a vapid little girl trying to live out a fairy tale. The ugly, little duckling who grows up to marry her prince. But you didn't have the spine -- you didn't have the spine to be with Nikolas! You couldn't accept his true nature -- his darkness, his ruthless drive for power, the violence.

Emily: You're wrong. Nikolas isn't like that.

Helena: Oh, you are going to pay with your life!

Lucky: Emily!

Elizabeth: Are you ok?

Emily: Ok -- Helena just went out the back! Stop her.

Lucky: Stay with Emily.

Emily: Don't bother. He's dead.

Elizabeth: Em -- what happened here?

Emily: I killed him.

Alexis: Did -- did Ric have Angel Bear when he dropped her off, do you know?

Carly: I don't know. He had an overnight bag. Maybe it was in there. It was full of toys. What's -- what's the deal with Angel Bear?

Alexis: This was her favorite stuffed animal when she was in the hospital, right? So when we got home, it disappeared. We thought Viola had taken it and had lost it during one of her outings, but apparently not.

Michael: When we went outside, she didn't have it.

Alexis: Hey, Michael, when you go outside, you ask permission, sweetie, don't you?

Carly: Does Michael have to ask permission to go with his sister and play in their backyard?

Alexis: Oh, "yard" is a euphemism. It's more like a city park, I think.

Carly: Well, it's walled, gated, and guarded.

Alexis: Well, there's a pool --

Sonny: Covered and fenced.

Alexis: Oh, guys, come on. I'm just making a simple request. He's only 9 years old. He's not old enough to supervise her. I'm just asking that when she goes outside that -- that there's supervision.

Max: Um -- hi there, Ms. Davis.

Alexis: Yeah, well -- hey, your nose is running, pumpkin.

Sonny: She's got a little cold, Alexis. I mean, it's not a big deal, you know?

Alexis: It is a big deal, since she had a transplant a month and a half ago. Probably is nothing, but how about we go get Dr. Webber to take a quick look at it, ok? Can you say "bye-bye" to everybody?

Kristina: Bye-bye.

Sonny: Bye-bye. Bye-bye.

Alexis: See you later. We'll see them later.

Carly: Good night.

Michael: Goodbye. Bye, Kristina.

Alexis: Bye-bye. Thanks.

Sonny: Yeah.

Alexis: Thank you.

Carly: Oh -- for Peteís sake. That woman is nuts.

Michael: I'm sorry for getting Kristina sick.

Carly: You did not get Kristina sick. Her nose is running because it's cold outside, sweetie.

Sonny: You know what? Alexis is a little overprotective, buddy, because Kristina was sick. But we're trying to keep the peace with her, so you need to understand something.

Michael: What?

Sonny: Whenever -- whenever you take your little sister outside, you need to let someone know.

Michael: Ok.

Sonny: Ok?

Carly: So, what did you think of the grounds?

Michael: Awesome!

Carly: Yeah? And that tree house?

Michael: Even better.

Carly: Mm-hmm. And how are you liking your new bedroom?

Michael: The best.

Carly: Really? Because I decorated it.

Michael: You did?

Carly: I did, and I picked out things especially for you.

Michael: Did you choose anything for you?

Carly: Uh -- well, sweetie, there's no reason. I'm not going to be living here.

Michael: You could instead of the apartment. We could all move here and be a family.

Courtney: Ok, so Jax is out of town. You're in luck -- I am here to dump all of my problems on you.

Mike: That's what fathers are for.

Courtney: Ok, Dad, you know that saying -- that the road to hell is paved with good intentions?

Mike: Yes, Iím familiar with it.

Courtney: Ok, I epitomize that. I -- I give it new meaning.

Mike: All right, honey, is this about Bridget?

Courtney: No, it's about Hope, her baby, who is now going to go live with Rita, Bridgetís grandmother, instead of Jason and Sam.

Mike: Ouch. How did this happen?

Courtney: I just -- I'm dealing with a really troubled young girl here, Dad. I mean, she has been back and forth about the adoption almost since the beginning. At one point she even asked me to take the baby.

Mike: Were you tempted?

Courtney: No. No. God, no. I mean, yeah, I want to be a mother one day, but when Iím ready and settled, and that's so not now. The sad thing is Jason and Sam were ready, you know, and -- and the more I tried to help, the worse things got. And I just can't -- I can't help but keep thinking that if I didn't get involved, that they would still have that baby.

Jason: I'm sorry I couldn't do what you wanted --

Sam: Wouldn't, Jason. You chose not to fight for the baby. You let Hope go, and with her went everything you and I planned for the future.

Jason: It doesn't have to be that way.

Sam: You made me trust that I had finally found a home. You had made me think that I could be happy, and then you snatched it away. There is nothing left.

Jason: We're left. There's us. As long as love each other, we can get through anything.

Sam: See, that's the funny part, Jason. I don't love you. I never did. It was always about the baby. You were the guy who was going to pay the bills.

Jason: I don't believe that.

Sam: You don't believe that? Then you're even a bigger sucker than I thought you were. I said all the right things because I wanted to make it worth your while, but it was always about the baby. Hope's gone, and so am I.

Sonny: You know what, buddy? The house situation doesn't change the situation between your mother and me. We're still getting a divorce.

Michael: But mom helped fix the house up.

Sonny: Right.

Michael: So she should be able to live here.

Carly: Sweetie, it's not going to happen. Ok, but your dad and I -- we're always going to help each other out and do things for each other. We're friends. That's not going to change. It's just that we're not going to be married anymore.

Sonny: And it's only natural that you want your parents to get back together, but you -- you got to start accepting the facts, buddy.

Michael: Ok.

Sonny: Ok?

Carly: Hey -- Iíll tell you what. I was going to take you and Morgan home with me, but you can stay here if you want, get used to the new place.

Michael: Sounds great, Mom. Thanks.

Carly: Ooh, ooh -- you're welcome, sweetie. Why don't you go on upstairs and tell Leticia you're staying, ok?

Michael: Ok -- if I can find her.

Sonny: Hey.

Carly: Sonny, I --

Sonny: I know. I keep thinking that he understands it, he accepts the divorce, and then he keeps asking the same questions over and over.

Carly: I know. I mean, I think we're probably just confusing him by spending so much time together. Maybe we should just keep our distance. And while we're at it, maybe we should take off our wedding rings.

 [Sam applauds]

Sam: Well, hail the conquering angel. I mean, you must be pleased with yourself.

Courtney: Look, I'm really sorry, Sam.

Sam: No, don't be sorry. Please, be proud because you got exactly what you wanted. That family Jason and I wanted is completely destroyed and here is the amazing part -- the part where you look so good -- your hands are clean, Courtney. You smell like a rose. Courtney, the do-gooder, the saint -- she was only trying to help, right, because that's what she does. She helps all the world's wretched creatures. It was just an unfortunate twist of fate that resulted in me losing, yes, another baby.

Courtney: Ok, look, Sam, I never had any intention --

Sam: I know, I know -- you were just trying to help yourself to Jason. Well, just congratulations, ok? It worked. He's all yours.

 [Knock on door]

Jason: Sam. What is it?

Jordan: I have some bad news. Judge Shindo decided to place Hope with her great-grandmother.

Jason: That's already done.

Jordan: Excuse me?

Jason: Uh -- you know, it wasn't hard to figure out how the judge was going to rule. You know, Rita was her only option. You know, I thought it might be easier for Sam to make the choice herself to give Hope up, as opposed to being ordered to do it. So I got everyone together -- Sam, me, Courtney, Bridget, Bridgetís grandmother -- and we discussed what would be best for Hope and decided that was Rita.

Jordan: I think you made the right decision. I'm just surprised that Ms. McCall agreed to it.

Jason: I didn't give her much choice.

Elizabeth: Come here. Sit down, honey. Just sit down.

Emily: Will you cover him, please?

Elizabeth: Of course, yeah.

Lucky: I searched everywhere. No sign of Helena.

Emily: She was here.

Lucky: I believe you. Em, what happened?

Emily: I shot him.

Elizabeth: Why?

Emily: Connor was insane. I can't believe I talked myself out of knowing that. He convinced himself that he could really step into Nikolas' life, that Nikolas would never get out of prison, and that I would turn to him. And when I made it clear that that would never happen, he --

Elizabeth: What did he do?

Emily: He -- he lost it. He hit me, we struggled. I -- I grabbed a pair of shears and I stabbed him. Then I thought that -- I thought that it was over, I thought that I could get -- get away. But then he came after me again, and so I -- I shot him. And Helena walked in right after, so she -- she thinks that I -- I killed Nikolas.

Lucky: Em, you didn't tell her it was Connor?

Emily: I didn't have the chance.

Elizabeth: Ok -- uh -- we need to call the police, let them know what happened, tell them that Connor attacked Emily and she shot him in self-defense.

Lucky: No, no, we can't.

Elizabeth: Why? Why can't we? What --

Lucky: A police investigation will confirm that the body is Connor, which means Nikolas will stay where he is and Helena will go back into hiding.

Elizabeth: Well, what are you suggesting we do?

Lucky: We bury Connor in the woods.

Sonny: I was going to wait for the divorce to go through. I mean, it's been filed and it'll take about another three months to be final. But, you know, I mean, look, you're probably right. Why drag this out?

[Carly laughs]

Carly: Do you want them back?

Sonny: No, they're yours.

Carly: Ok, um -- I can probably have it set in a pendant or something.

Sonny: Yeah, do -- whatever you want to do, I mean, you can do with it, you know.

Carly: Yeah. I'll tell you what. I'll save the rings and I'll give them to Michael or Morgan, whoever ends up getting married first, and they can give it to their bride and -- if they want. And technically, I suppose, a ring that came from a divorce could be bad luck, but in our case I think we might be an exception.

Sonny: Yeah, me, too.

Carly: Ok, Sonny, I'm going to go, Iím going to let you enjoy your new furnishings in this -- I could say it to you -- it's a mansion. It's as big as the Quartermaines'. Enjoy it.

Sonny: You did a did great job decorating. It looks, you know -- looks great.

Carly: Well, I had a little bit of an advantage. We used to talk about getting a house like this, so I -- I knew what you wanted.

Sonny: Michael was right about one thing, you know. It's not fair that Iím in a place like this and you're stuck in that dump that you call an apartment.

Carly: Hey, I like my apartment. I like it.

Sonny: No, it looks nice for a closet. You know, I mean, I can buy you a place like this. I can have one built from the ground up. Whatever you want, I can do.

Carly: You know, the cottage is almost rebuilt and I like it. It's good. I'd be miserable in a place like this.

Sonny: When did that happen?

Carly: Well, I mean, honestly, I would love to stick it in the faces of a few people, but Iíd be lonely when the boys were gone.

Sonny: Yeah, I could see that.

Carly: Kiss the boys good night for me, ok? Ok.

Courtney: Ok, Sam, look, I realize that you are upset, and I am truly sorry for your loss, but I did not mastermind taking Hope away from you, and I am not trying to get Jason back.

Sam: Oh, oh, please, Courtney, your innocent act doesn't work on me. Ok? You make this whole spectacle about moving on with Jax and then you realize you spoke to soon, and it's all right.

Courtney: No, actually, I'm happy with Jax.

Sam: Really? Well, I know better because I see the look on your face whenever you're around Jason. You're still in love with him. And you probably panicked when you realized he had fallen in love with me and decided drastic measures were called for. Well, I'm telling you, really, it worked, so pat yourself on the back. Hell, open up a bottle of champagne. Hope is gone and so is my relationship with Jason.

Courtney: I don't understand that. Why are you so mad at Jason?

Sam: Well, that's simple. Jason couldn't wait to hand Hope over to a woman who had never laid eyes on her until the day before. He didn't want me. He doesn't want the baby. I don't want him. So it's time for you to claim your prize, Courtney. I hope you and Jason -- really, I do -- I hope you can make each other happy. As for me, Iím going to find my own happiness. I'm going to find myself a little girl of my own, one that no one can ever take away from me.

Elizabeth: Haven't we learned anything from the disasters we made in the past? Cover-ups don't work, and if they do, we really never got the hang of how.

Lucky: We're in too deep to turn back. Nikolas' life is on the line, and Helena -- she won't show herself if she knows that Connor is the one who's dead.

Elizabeth: There's another way this could go. We can get rid of Connorís body, and Helena will go on believing that Nikolas was killed here tonight by Emily.

Lucky: Emily's life is more at risk than ever.

Lucky: There's downsides either way you look at it. I know Iím right. Just -- we just can't let anybody know that Connor Bishop is dead.

Elizabeth: She's gone. Emily's gone. Emily? Emily?

Lucky: Em?

Elizabeth: Emily? Em, where are you? Em? Em?

Lucky: What are you doing down here?

Emily: I'm sorry. I'm so sorry.

Elizabeth: Here.  You're right. We need to bury Connor where no one will find him.

 [Knock on door]

Steven: I come bearing gifts. We have pizza from Rossiís and a very nice merlot.

Carly: Rossi's is -- it's my favorite. How'd you know?

Steven: I have my ways.

Carly: Well, you definitely zoned in on my weakness. I mean, I can't resist pizza. Why don't I get a wine opener and some plates?

Steven: Ok.

Carly: Nice haircut.

Steven: Thank you, Carly.

[Knock on door]

Carly: Are you expecting -- who is it?

Courtney: Hey, I need some advice.

Carly: Hey.

Courtney: Oh, I'm -- you have a -- oh, God, you have a date. Um -- I just --

Carly: No, no, no, it's ok. You look upset, and Steven just -- he dropped by with a pizza. It's nothing official. We can do it another time, right?

Courtney: No.

Steven: I insist. Absolutely. And I'd like you to have dinner on me.

Carly: Oh, no, no, no, it's ok. You take the pizza and --

Steven: See, this way, then you owe me. And next time it's your treat. It's easy.

Carly: Deal. Thanks.

Steven: Hey.

Courtney: Sorry.

Steven: No, it's all right. Take care.

Carly: What's going on?

Courtney: Sam had to give the baby back, and she -- she walked out on Jason.

Carly: Well, so much for their marriage.

Courtney: Yeah. Well, Sam accused me of orchestrating the whole thing to get Jason back. It's not true, though, Carly, I swear. I mean, I was honestly trying to help. I wanted Jason to be happy.

Carly: Well, maybe the way to make Jason happy is to go back to him.

Sonny: Sorry to call you over here. I know you're in the middle of that custody thing, but we got a problem in Puerto Rico. I couldn't handle it myself because I was bringing home the kids. How long are you going to be stuck in this family court thing?

Jason: It's over.

Sonny: What do you mean?

Jason: Sam and I -- we gave the baby to Rita, who's Hope's great-grandmother, a couple of hours ago.

Sonny: I'm sorry to hear that. But maybe it's for the best. You and Sam didn't give yourselves enough time to heal after she lost the baby.

Jason: She doesn't see it that way. She left me.

Jason's voice: I love you. I want to marry you because I want you in my life.

Sam: Well, I know where I belong. Please don't do this! You said you loved Hope enough to fight for her and that's what we have to do. We have to find a way to keep her. That's it. Watch her head. I don't love you. I never did. It was always about the baby. You were the guy who was going to pay the bills.

Jason: I don't believe that.

Sam: Then you're even a bigger sucker than I thought you were.

Alexis: Kristina, do you want ice cream or chocolate cake? Uppy. Ok. There you go, sweetie. Ok.

Carly: Well, this should be good. Steven's got excellent taste in wine.

Courtney: Thanks.

Carly: So it sounds to me like you are at a crossroads. I mean, Jason and Sam are over, which means the man that you admit to love -- he's free. He's free. I mean, his lifestyle is the same, but maybe -- I don't know, maybe it's not an insurmountable barrier anymore. On the other hand, there's Jax, right? I mean, he is textbook perfect. He is. And he makes his living in a morally defensible way.

Courtney: A man you can't stand, as opposed to your best friend in the world.

Carly: Ok, what I think really doesn't matter. It doesn't. I mean, I -- maybe Jax is the one who will make your life happy, and that's fine. It is. It's -- I just want you to recognize that you've got a choice to make, because Jason is an option again. I just want you to be honest with yourself. I mean, who do you really want to be with? Is it Jax or is it Jason?

Jason: No, Sam claims that she was only with me for the baby. Now that Hope's gone, she's got no reason to stay with me.

Sonny: Well, you know what Samís doing, right? She's lashing out. She wants you to hurt the way she does. So she's saying the most hurtful things to you so that way it'll cause you the most pain.

Jason: I'll deal with my end. It's -- it's Sam that I'm worried about. A person can only lose so much and then they break. You know that.

Sonny: Right, right.

Jason: Sam is at that point. She lost her baby, then Hope came into her life. She bonded with Hope, and now she's gone. You know, the way Sam sees it, it's because of me. Why should she ever trust me? Why should she ever trust anyone or anything again?

Sonny: Well, Jason, I know you feel responsible for Sam.

Jason: Sonny, it was more than that.

Sonny: Is it? Well, now's the time to be sure.

Jason: What are you talking about?

Sonny: I'm talking about, look, you know -- the door you thought just closed opened up again, ok? It's obvious to me the way Courtney got involved that she still loves you, so maybe you need to ask yourself -- I'm just saying maybe. Do you want another chance with Courtney? Or do you still love Sam?

Alexis: Want to take a sip, sweetie? Go ahead. Go ahead, you can have some.

[Phone rings]

Alexis: Good girl. Ok, you drink it. Mommy get the phone, ok? There you go. Hello? Hi, Ric. No, honestly, I don't think that's a good idea quite yet. She still misses you. I know. Listen, by the way, where did you find Angel Bear? That's strange. No, because she had it with her when I went to pick her up at Sonny's, and he swore that he didn't buy her a new one.

Sam: Hey. Hi. Look at those rosy cheeks. Do you know that you're all well because of my little girl?

Elizabeth: Don't worry about the mess, ok? I'll clean it up. Right after I make you some tea, ok?

Emily: It needs to look like nothing happened here.

Elizabeth: Yeah, it seems to be the best way.

Emily: Ok, yeah. A shower. That's what I need.

Elizabeth: Hey, Em? I know how you feel. That's what I wanted. That's what I wanted, too, more than anything -- just to wash it off, scrub my skin until it bled, whatever it took to get clean. Connor raped you, didn't he?

>> On the next "General Hospital" --

Alexis: Do you remember Sam? She visited you at the hospital.

Jason: Sam needs me.

Sonny: That's not what I asked, Jason.

Carly: Make up your mind who it is you want and go for it.

Emily: I killed a man. Please, I just want to forget this night ever happened.
