Emily: What are you doing here?
Connor: Changed my mind about leaving.
Emily: They'll arrest you as a deserter, Connor.
Connor: It'll be worth it. I'm going to the police Nikolas threw his grandmother off a cliff.
Emily: Please, Connor, I'm begging you not to do that.
Nikolas: Doesn't matter what he does. I've already confessed.
Emily: No, Nikolas, tell them that you don't mean a word of it, that Connorís lying.
Nikolas: Listen to me. I love you so much, but I can't do that.
Emily: He's just trying to trick Connor into giving himself up, Mac. That --
Nikolas: Emily, I killed someone. It's time I paid for that.
Alexis: You know, this is the best day in the world for me, to have this birthday with you today. My wish came true; my birthday wish came true for today, and for you to have a thousand more birthdays. Do you remember I told you it's snowing outside? Know what we're going to do? We're going to make snow angels. We're going to make snow angels, and we can catch the snowflakes and we can watch them melt in the palm of your hand.
John: I'm not the one who gave Lansing evidence incriminating Sonny. In fact, Iím the one who tried talking him out of it.
Jason: Come on, you want to take Sonny down, but you don't want to ruin your relationship with Carly, so you fed Lansing the evidence and let him do your dirty work.
Ric: Doesn't matter where I got it. The evidence against you is legit.
Sonny: Won't hold up in court, Ric.
Ric: It's a detailed account of how you launder money, Sonny. It's a D.A.'s dream come true. You know, who'd have guessed that after all the time and all the hard work that I put into convicting you, that the evidence that I would need would fall right into my lap? And you know what? I should be thrilled. But I'm not.
Carly: Oh, tsk, tsk, tsk, Ric. You know, leaving candles burning is a fire hazard.
Carly: Help! Somebody get me out of here!
[Smoke detector beeps]
Carly: Fire! Help!
Carly: Help! Someone get me out of here!
Steven: Carly? Carly?
Carly: Steven? Steven!
Steven: Carly, Iím going to get you out of there!
Carly: Steven, hurry!
Steven: Carly, open the door! Check the locks! Carly? Carly, are you all right? Carly!
Nikolas: I grabbed Helena and forced the knife out of her hand. She insisted that she would never rest until Emily was dead. Helena lunged at Emily, trying to force her over the edge. And that was it. I -- I grabbed her and I --
Connor: Threw her over the cliff.
Mac: And you witnessed it?
Connor: Oh, yeah. He's telling the truth.
Mac: And you held it over Nikolas' and Emilyís heads to help you escape from the M.Pís?
Emily: Nikolas killed Helena to save my life, Mac.
Connor: Hey, that's a really good story. Sounds a little too familiar, though. Oh, yeah, that's the one that Nikolas used when he shot Mary. I forgot.
Mac: Anything you want to add to your defense?
Nikolas: Yeah. I did what I had to do to protect Emily.
Emily: But why this?
Nikolas: Because as long as Connor held that over our heads, we'd never have any peace or happiness in our life ever again.
Emily: And what do we have now?
Nikolas: Oh, babe. Love, ok? No matter where we are. It's ok. Shh.
Mac: Come on, let's go.
Emily: What about him?
Lucky: I'm going to call the M.Pís, and Iím going to watch them drag you out of here.
Emily: I'm going to call Alexis. This isn't over. I'm not going to let it be.
Connor: Looks over to me.
Emily: You lying pig!
Alexis: Sam. Oh, my God. Sam?
Ric: This isn't how I wanted to bring you in.
Sonny: Not enough TV cameras?
Ric: I wanted your downfall to be between us.
Ric: I didn't want any kind of mysterious files, any lucky breaks. I didn't want you to have to suffer everything that you've suffered with your child.
Sonny: That was inconvenient for you, right?
Ric: I wanted a clean, hard-won victory, Sonny. I didn't want this evidence handed to me on a silver platter.
Sonny: It's never enough for you, Ric. You're as sad and lonely as the day you showed up in town.
Ric: Ok, you know what? I have a lot to look forward to because I'm going to be raising Kristina.
Sonny: Like hell you are, Ric.
Ric: Oh, who's going to stop me, Sonny? You? You're going to be rotting away in prison.
Sonny: I'm going to get out of here, and Iím going to have custody --
Ric: My case is ironclad, and you know it! I am going to be the one who is raising your daughter. I am going to be the one who tucks her in at night, teaches her to ride a bike, takes her to preschool. I am going to be the father that you --
Sonny: You're not going to be anybody's father!
Ric: Because I am going to keep her out of your brutal world.
Sonny: No! What are you doing here? I didn't call you.
Justus: I'm not good enough for you in a custody suit. But I might be worth something to you in a criminal capacity.
Ric: Good timing.
Justus: I need a moment alone with Sonny.
Ric: Yeah, take all the time you want. You should know one thing, counselor. There's not going to be any kind of plea bargain. We have solid evidence of a criminal enterprise, and we are going to be asking for the maximum penalty.
Justus: So? What's Lansing trying to pin on you this time?
Sonny: It's real. He's got what he needs to send me to prison.
John: As always, you're bluffing -- blah, blah, blah, blah, blah -- throwing around wild accusations with nothing to back it up.
Jason: Nothing's untraceable, Durant.
John: Oh -- oh, is that supposed to make me nervous? You're hoping that Iím going to slip up and admit to something that I didn't do? I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I did not plant that evidence. Now, you can dig around. Hell, man, you can dig all the way to China to find proof that I had something to do with Sonny's arrest, but why don't you just ask Carly? She'll tell you -- you're wasting your time.
Jason: Carly wants Sonny released.
John: Yeah. Oh, yes. Yes, she does. And I've promised her that Iíll do everything in my power to help her. And I have.
Jason: Yeah? No, I'm on my way.
[Smoke detector beeps]
Steven: Carly? Carly, can you hear me? Carly! Ah! Ah! Ah!
Steven: Oh, God -- Carly! Carly!
Steven: Oh, come on, now, come on. Carly, come here. Come here.
[Fire alarm rings]
Steven: I got you. Come here, come here, come here, come here. Come here, lean back. Ok, Carly, Carly, Carly, Carly -- got to take long, slow breaths. Carly, what the hell are you in doing in Ric Lansingís apartment?
Carly: Ugh -- did the file cabinet burn?
Steven: What do you -- you set this fire. You're trying to burn the evidence that he's got on -- Carly, are you out of your mind?
Carly: Yeah, well, some people think so.
Steven: I'll go get the file.
Carly: No, no, no, Steven! You let it burn!
Steven: No, that's a bad idea, Carly, and you cannot be connected to this fire.
Carly: Steven, it's too dangerous! Steven!
Steven: Run before anybody sees you.
[Fire alarm rings]
Carly: Steven! Steven! Steven, Steven, come on. Come on. Ok, you're ok. Come on, come on! Steven, Steven, come on! Come on!
Fireman: We're headed up right now, so we'll see if anyone's inside!
Fireman: There's someone here! He's still breathing! Get him out of here.
Fireman: Paramedics are on the way. Let's get this fire under control.
Sonny: Ok, Meyer dropped it off at the penthouse, all right?
Justus: He didn't put it in your hands?
Sonny: He should have. He left it on the desk. But I destroyed it, ok?
Justus: Wait a second, wait a second.
Justus: Somebody could've got ahold of it and made a copy.
Sonny: I don't know about that. All I know is Ricís got a copy. And I'm facing enough RICO violations to send me to prison for decades, all right? So we got to figure out --
Justus: Well, we need to find out who Ric got a copy from and, most importantly, how he got it.
Sonny: Ok. Then what?
Justus: If I can prove that the file was obtained illegally, I'll be able to get it thrown out for inadmissible evidence.
Sonny: We need Jason on this.
Jason: What'd you do to her?
Alexis: I -- I didn't --
Jason: You don't want her near Kristina? I don't want you near Sam. How many times do I have to tell you --?
Sam: Jason -- Jason, stop! Alexis saved my life.
Emily: You said that you were going to Canada and that you would leave us in peace, but you were going straight to the police instead.
Connor: To report a murder, and why is that wrong, hmm? Why am I the bad guy when Nikolas just confessed to throwing an old lady off a cliff?
Lucky: Helena was a menacing witch who deserved what she got.
Connor: Do you think a jury will see it that way?
Lucky: And Nikolas is going to face charges, and he'll be exonerated. But you wonít.
Connor: We'll see about that, won't we?
Emily: You used my compassion against me and you pretended to have feelings for me, and every phony word was a calculated move for you to get revenge on Nikolas for something he didn't do!
Connor: He destroyed Mary and me!
Emily: No, Mary destroyed herself! Nikolas was a victim of her madness like everyone else. You know what? You are so desperate for someone to blame for Maryís death because you can't face the fact that you started it all.
Connor: I'd stop if I were you.
Emily: You know, you let Mary think that you were dead so that you could sneak home to her? You drove Mary crazy.
Connor: Shut up. Shut up.
Emily: And now the blood of those two innocent kids she killed is on your hands!
Connor: Shut up! Shut --
Lucky: Hey, let her go. Emily, stop it. We're wasting time, all right. Just --
Emily: Oh! Oh, my God, lLucky!
Connor: Looks like it's my party now, don't it?
Justus: I just tried Jason on his cell phone. It's switched off.
Sonny: He's probably with Sam. You got to keep trying him. He's got to question Meyer.
Justus: Meyer put the file together and left it at the penthouse?
Sonny: That's what he told me.
Justus: Do you have any reason to doubt him?
Sonny: Well, he left it on the desk. I went back there, it wasn't there.
Justus: Ok, so how did it turn up?
Sonny: Well, Meyer found it. He found it on the floor. Now, look, I mean, it could've happened. Carly was moving out that day. She was moving, you know, putting things in boxes, whatever. It could've fallen -- I don't know.
Justus: Is he someone you can trust, Sonny?
Sonny: Well, you know, Meyerís a man of honesty and integrity. You know, I've -- there's been a lot of people in my life who Iíve trusted, you know, and they've turned on me.
Justus: I never turned on you, Sonny. I simply made a choice to help Faith.
Sonny: There's a difference there?
Justus: You have notions about loyalty that no one can live up to, not even you.
Sonny: Yeah? So what are you saying?
Justus: If you have the slightest suspicion that I would double-cross you to get back for Faith's imprisonment, I will walk right now.
Sonny: Faith's gone anyway. You know, I wish she were dead, but, you know, sometimes you can't have everything you want in life. So I will settle for a lawyer who I can trust for now.
Ric: Congratulations, Sonny. Mission accomplished.
Sonny: What are you talking about?
Ric: My apartment was torched! And there's only one person who could've possibly given that order, and I think Iím looking right at him.
Elizabeth: Steven? Oh, my God, Steven! What happened?
Tony: What have we got?
Paramedic: He was in a fire.
Elizabeth: A fire? Where?
Tony: Update me, please.
Paramedic: Some smoke inhalation, but his breathing is even and unlabored. Minor burns.
Tony: A small parietal laceration.
Elizabeth: Oh, Steven --
Tony: All right, put him in Trauma Two, please. And I want you to wait here, all right?
Elizabeth: But, wait, he's my brother. I --
Tony: I understand. We're doing everything we can.
Elizabeth: I'll stay out of your way. I just need to be in there. He's my brother.
Tony: I know it's hard, but you -- no, you can't be in there with him. I'll let you know as soon as we have prognosis.
Dr. Meadows: Thanks to Ms. Davis, we were able to treat Sam before hypothermia set in. Now, Sam, I've advised you to stay in bed in the past. This time it's an order.
Alexis: I'll leave you two alone.
Jason: Sam, what were you doing on the roof?
Sam: I was lying here, thinking about what you said about the baby having stars in heaven, and I -- I just wanted to see them, Jason. I wanted to connect with my child and imagine that she was a part of something big.
Jason: Sam, but you should've waited for me. The doctor said how weak you are.
Sam: I know, I know, it was stupid of me. I'm sorry.
Jason: I didn't say it was stupid.
Sam: I just needed to believe that her soul was in heaven; that she didn't just end. But I couldn't see the stars. And it started to snow, and I felt cold and empty, and I just waited. I waited to feel something. And then I collapsed. And I finally --
Jason: What did you feel?
Sam: Peace. Because I need it, Jason. I need it so bad.
Connor: Thanks for the hospitality. But I'm heading across the border to Canada.
Emily: What is it, the fourth time you've told me that?
Connor: Well, this time, see, I can leave free and clear. The man who shot Mary -- going to prison, and he doesn't get the girl. He's finally going to pay for what he did.
Emily: Look, Luckyís head is bleeding. Just go, get out of our lives so I can call a doctor!
Connor: No, no, no. See, see, I need to escape, and you're going to help me.
Sonny: I had nothing to do with the fire, Ric.
Ric: Oh, the PCPD finally has ironclad evidence against you. It's locked up in my apartment. It goes up in smoke, and you're going to sit there and tell me it's a coincidence?
Sonny: I didn't know where the evidence was, so --
Ric: You could've made it your point to find out where it was.
Sonny: You have no proof because there is no proof!
Ric: Was it Max? Was it Jason? Was it another one of your hard-working employees?
Justus: The proof of my client's alleged illegal activities just went up in smoke? Then so did your case.
Ric: Sonny isn't going anywhere until I find out what happened.
Officer: We just got a report in. A man was found in the fire. He's been taken to the hospital.
Ric: Who was it?
Officer: We don't have an I.D. yet.
Sonny: I told the truth. I didn't give this order.
Justus: Yeah, well, maybe somebody was working on your behalf.
Justus: I'll get on it.
Nikolas: Connor Bishop been arrested yet?
Officer: Your lawyer can answer any questions. You're being booked on murder.
Emily: I'm not leaving Lucky.
Connor: You're big on loyalty, ain't you?
Emily: Yeah, something you wouldn't understand.
Connor: Hey, everything I have done has been out of loyalty to Mary. Don't tell me that.
Emily: So that's your excuse for lying, cheating, breaking the law?
Connor: Quit stalling, would you? I'm getting out of here, and you're going to help me.
Emily: Well, sorry, you can't sneak up on me in the bathtub and kidnap me this time, so it looks like you're on your own!
Connor: How far you think you can push me, hmm?
Emily: I don't care what you do. I won't help you. You'll have to shoot me first.
Connor: We'll go ahead with Nikolas' plan to have me flown out of here by chopper to Canada. Now, you must know who to call, so I suggest you pick up that phone and start dialing.
Emily: This is Emily Quartermaine. We have a change of plans. The passenger going to Canada can't make it to the heliport. He's waiting here on Spoon Island. Thanks. It's done.
Connor: Good. Ugh. Now, we got about a half-hour or so before we got to say goodbye. How do you think we should spend it?
Sam: Why do you believe in God?
Jason: I just do.
Sam: "Just do"? Well, then why don't you tell me -- if God were so fair and good, why am I not going home with my daughter? Why aren't we welcoming her into the nursery that we set up for her?
Jason: I don't -- I don't know, Sam. I wish I did. You know, I guess the whole point is that it -- God knows more than we do. And when something terrible -- terrible happens, something we can't understand, we just have to pray for strength to get through it.
Sam: Maybe I'm not praying hard enough because the strength isn't coming.
Jason: Sam, you had nine months to think about the baby; to get ready to be a mom. You got to give yourself some time to miss her.
Sam: You're right. My life has been all about this pregnancy. I went from thinking about myself to thinking about the baby -- what she needed, what I needed to do to become a good mom. And now everything that mattered to me is just -- it's gone. It just disappeared, Jason. In the blink of an eye, it is just -- it's gone. I went to sleep with the baby inside of me. I woke up, it was gone -- a baby I was going to hold and touch, talk to and connect with.
Jason: I -- I don't have the answers. But I miss your baby almost as much as you do. And if it helps -- um -- you know, you're not alone. I'm here as long as you need me.
Justus: Sorry to interrupt, Jason. I need to talk to you.
Jason: Will you be ok?
Justus: Go ahead.
Justus: Thank God you're ok.
Jason: What are you talking about? Why wouldn't I be?
Justus: Ric's apartment was torched. The evidence against Sonny was in a filing cabinet. Now, obviously somebody was trying to get rid of it, but they got stuck in the fire. We thought it was you.
Carly: Oh. Hey.
Steven: You're not wearing a wig this time?
Carly: I'm so glad you're ok.
Steven: Did anyone see you at Lansingís?
Carly: No, I -- I ran out. I hid behind the corner and then I waited.
Steven: Carly, I told you to run.
Carly: I did, I did. I just wanted to make sure that you got out ok.
Steven: I didn't get the file.
Carly: Listen, I came to see about you, not the file. You saved my life, Steven. Why?
Connor: That's the chopper. So it looks like this is goodbye.
Emily: Yeah, you'd better hurry.
Connor: Listen, for what it's worth -- what I said about you and your kindness? I wasn't lying.
Emily: I don't care what you think of me.
Connor: I'm not sorry that Nikolas is going to pay for what he did, but I am sorry for hurting you.
Emily: Look, I don't accept your apology, and I don't forgive you. I never will. But you betrayed my trust, and you destroyed the man I love. And for what, Connor? Do you feel better now, more at peace? What? Tell me. What did your revenge really accomplish?
Connor: Give me your cell phone.
Emily: Take it! Go!
Connor: I got to lock you and your cop buddy in.
Emily: Connor, please, I need to call an ambulance.
Connor: Well, you're a resourceful girl. I'm sure you can make your way through those tunnels to a phone and give me the head start I need.
Emily: Well, then go so I can get started!
Connor: All right. Well, listen, I'd say I'd see you around, but I doubt I will.
Emily: Lucky -- Lucky, what -- Lucky!
Connor: Agh! Stupid move, kid. Stupid move.
Jason: Justus said you needed to see me.
Sonny: How's Sam?
Jason: You know, not good. She wanted this baby so badly. She didn't even get to see her. Sonny, it's killing her. She's devastated.
Sonny: No one gets over the death of a child.
Jason: We're just, you know, trying to get through a day at a time.
Sonny: I'm sure she's just trying to fill a space, you know. It's going to take a while to do that.
Jason: Yeah, I'm going to stay with her until she gets better.
Sonny: I called you -- I called you over here because of the fire at Ricís apartment. Ahem. Great job. Look, with any luck, the evidence against me is in ashes. Did -- how'd you know it was in Ricís apartment?
Jason: I didn't -- I didn't set the fire. Someone else did.
Sonny: You didn't set the -- who did?
Jason: I don't know who did. I was with Durant when it happened, and I am pretty sure that he's the one who gave your file to Ric, but I couldn't get him to admit it.
Sonny: Durant's a smart guy. He's not -- he doesn't want to come anywhere near me during this arrest because he knows that Carly will not forgive him.
Jason: I don't think that Durant is responsible for the fire because he wants Ric to have that evidence.
Sonny: We need to find out who lit that match and why.
Jason: Yeah, and we need to find out if everything got burnt that should've.
John: Hey. I heard there was a fire. Any idea how it started?
Mac: We've got people looking into that.
John: I gather D.A. Lansing had some important papers for his case against Sonny Corinthos. Are they still intact?
Mac: We haven't gotten to that yet.
John: Oh. All right, mind if I take a look around?
Mac: No -- sorry, sorry. No one's allowed inside.
John: I'm a federal prosecutor, not some curious neighbor.
Mac: D.A. Lansing's orders. He was explicit that no one but myself and these two officers are allowed inside.
John: All right. I'll speak to D.A. Lansing.
Ric: What's wrong?
Elizabeth: Just a career crisis. I'm not sure Iím cut out for this whole nursing thing after all.
Ric: Why do you say that?
Elizabeth: Apparently, I wear my heart on my sleeve.
Ric: Well, I don't agree with that. I think you're -- you're a caring and kind person. Your patients matter to you.
Elizabeth: Yeah, sometimes a little too much.
Ric: Does this have anything to do with the fact that Sam lost her baby?
Elizabeth: That was harder than I expected.
Ric: Elizabeth, listen to me. You lost a baby, as well, ok? It makes sense for you to -- to be affected by it.
Elizabeth: I suppose it's a matter of degree, you know? Because when somebody I love or care about comes through those emergency room doors, I -- I just get emotional, and I lose my objectivity. I heard about the fire at your apartment.
Elizabeth: I'm really glad you're ok.
Ric: Yeah, well, I can't say the same for my apartment. It's -- it's almost completely destroyed.
Elizabeth: What caused it?
Ric: Arson. I had evidence against Sonny in there. I hope it's not burned, as well.
Elizabeth: Are you sure it was arson?
Ric: It's far too -- too convenient to be a coincidence. I'm sorry. I know the subject of Sonny is not really the best for the both of us.
Elizabeth: You know what? It's not that. It's my brother. That's why Iím upset. Steven got caught in that fire at your apartment.
Steven: I saw you with Ric at the PCPD. You were very upset about the evidence against Sonny.
Carly: So you figured I would go and commit arson?
Steven: No, I knew you'd be determined to help Sonny one way or the other, so I followed you when you left the PCPD. What I didn't figure is that you would break, enter, and light a fire.
Carly: Yeah, but you risked your life to save me.
Steven: That's what doctors do. Besides, of all the people Iíve met since I've been in Port Charles, you may be the most -- um --
Steven: Interesting. I couldn't let anything happen to you. Things would be boring around here without you to liven them up.
Carly: Well, thank you. From one friend to another, thank you for saving my life.
Steven: Hmm. My pleasure. Get out of here.
Carly: Excuse me?
Steven: Get out of here. Go. If anyone links you to the fire, then they'll figure out that you lit the fire to destroy the evidence incriminating Sonny, and then you'll end up in jail for tampering with evidence. That's why I told you to run when we heard the sirens from the fire department.
Carly: Yeah, but you went back in.
Steven: To get rid of anything that might connect you to the fire. That's why you got to go. You can't be connected to me on this.
Connor: You called the M.P.'s instead of the pilot.
Emily: Yeah, I can be resourceful when someone double-crosses me and knocks my best friend unconscious.
Connor: This ain't over. This ain't over.
Emily: Lucky, how are you feeling?
Lucky: I'm ok.
Emily: God, all Iíve done is make things worse.
Lucky: No. No, no, no, you were great. You were smart and brave.
Emily: Yeah, and too late. If I had listened to Nikolas, we could have gotten Connor to Canada days ago, and Nikolas wouldn't be in jail for killing Helena.
Lucky: All right, you don't worry about that. We're going to get him released.
Emily: How? Nikolas just made a full confession.
Steven: Ok, so, I guess you're going to want to ask me some questions.
Ric: Yeah, that's right.
Steven: Carly, thanks for coming by. I really appreciate you caring.
Carly: Yeah. You know, you're my father's friend. I wanted to make sure you were ok. Of course I care.
Ric: You know, this gets more and more interesting as we go. See, first my apartment is torched, and then you're pulled out of the rubble. The thing that -- the thing I keep asking myself is what would a forensics consultant who works for the PCPD be doing at my apartment in the first place?
Steven: What are you getting at, Lansing?
Ric: Well, I was in possession of some rather incriminating evidence against Sonny. So why would you be so rash as to set fire to my apartment and to destroy that? I mean, why would you do that in the first place? But you, on the other hand -- that's a different story.
Carly: Steven was hurt in a fire.
Carly: I came to visit him. What's wrong with that?
Ric: Well, what's wrong with that is I don't believe you. So why don't the two of you tell me what really happened at my apartment tonight.
Officer: Hey, Murphy, give me a hand with this fire door, will you?
Ofc. Murphy: Sure thing.
Jason: None of our people -- they don't know anything about the fire.
Sonny: Do we know who the firefighters pulled out of Ricís apartment?
Jason: No, not yet. We can't even be sure that person actually set the fire.
Sonny: Yeah, I know. But if the fire destroyed the evidence against me, I'm a free man. Whoever did it, I owe them.
