Lois: The term "Innocent explanation" doesn't exactly spring to mind here, does it?

Lorenzo: You're right. I won't be needing your services tonight after all.

Lana: Ahem. Suit yourself.

Lois: "Services"?

Lorenzo: I've been paying her to sleep with me.

Steven: So you beat the odds, lived through the surgery. I'm not surprised. There's no way you're going to let Sonny Corinthos and Jason Morgan have the satisfaction of killing you.  John, I pledge you, the men who did this are going to pay.

Sonny: Michael? Give me that. What makes you think Iím responsible for getting Durant shot?

Michael: He wants to put you in prison, Mommy won't stay away from him, and so you got rid of him.

Sonny: No. That's not what happened.

Jason: Carly, what's going on?

Carly: How could you do it, Jason? How could you shoot my father?

Jason: Carly, you're not thinking clearly right --

Carly: You hate him and you convinced yourself he was a threat and --

Jason: Look, Carly --

Carly: Jason, don't touch me. I have a question for you. You convinced yourself he was a threat. Did you convince Sonny, too? And when you shot my father, was it on Sonny's orders or did you act alone?

Jax: We're going to take off as soon as the pilot's done with the preflight check.

Courtney: Mm-hmm. So where are we going?

Jax: One of my favorite restaurants.

Courtney: Where, in what, Rome, Stockholm, Hong Kong?

Jax: No, Bermuda.

Courtney: Really?

Jax: Yep. The restaurant is a converted colonial mansion. It's very romantic. The food is excellent.

Courtney: Hmm. So we might not make it back home tonight?

Jax: Would that be a problem?

Courtney: Diego's staying with my father tonight. I am free and clear for the next 24 hours.

Jax: That's good because there's a hotel on the grounds, some of these private little cottages overlooking the ocean, you know, just in case we get tired after dinner and we need to rest.

Courtney: Oh.

Jax: Yeah.

Courtney: How thoughtful of you.

Jax: I'm always thinking about you, how beautiful you are, how smart and funny.

Courtney: And?

Jax: Sexy.

Courtney: And?

Jax: And -- oh, I can't wait to make love to you.

Courtney: Well, it might come sooner than you think.

Jax: Yeah?

Courtney: Mm-hmm.

Mac: Sorry to interrupt, but your plane won't be cleared for takeoff until it's been searched. Go ahead.

Elizabeth: Hey. Want a break?

Steven: I'm ok.

Elizabeth: I can get someone to cover for you.

Steven: He doesn't need someone to watch him all the time. I'm just really worried. His vitals aren't stable.

Elizabeth: You really care about him, don't you?

Steven: He's -- he's like a father to me. I don't -- I don't want to take anything away from our own father, but --

Elizabeth: No, no, no, no, of course not. Dad's a wonderful person, a true humanitarian.

Steven: Yeah.

Elizabeth: But his devotion to people in need didn't leave him a whole lot of time for his own family.

Steven: Yeah.

Elizabeth: Kind of thought I was the only one who felt isolated from him.

Steven: No. I mean, John came along and he filled this void that I never even knew I had. He's taught me so much. He -- and it wasn't even just about law enforcement or building an airtight case. It was about ambition and integrity and that fine line between doing what's right, but also getting what you want.

Elizabeth: So he's your role model?

Steven: Yeah. In every way. Oh. John Durant is a brilliant man. He could really do great things for this country. If he survives.

Carly: You know that I will cover for you, but I need to understand what is going on here. What did you --?

Jason: Ok, let's just say Iím stupid enough to fire a shot at Durant in a crowd of witnesses while TV cameras are rolling, that I'm so dumb that I kept the gun and I let the cops find me holding it in my bare hands. Carly, you were next to Durant. When that shot was fired, I thought -- I thought you'd been hit. I mean, do you really believe for one minute that I would've fired that shot, that I would ever, ever risk hitting you, Carly?

Carly: I'm sorry. I'm sorry, Jason. I'm just worried that my father's going to die.

Sonny: Were you listening when Alexis came by; we went out in the hall, and talked?

Michael: Yes.

Sonny: Ok. Did you hear her say that I ordered the shooting?

Michael: She sounded pretty mad at you.

Sonny: Well, see, that's why I don't like you eavesdropping, because there are misunderstandings. Alexis was upset because Kristina, you know, had been sick, and she's good friends with Ric. She was worried that he had been hurt. She was very mad; she wanted to take it out on someone so she picked me. But nothing she said was true. I did not order the shooting of Durant.

Michael: But Durantís your enemy. Don't you kill your enemies?

Jax: Well, Mac, Iíd offer you a drink, but I know that you're on duty.

Mac: The flight plan indicates you plan to leave the country?

Jax: Yep.

Courtney: We were going to Bermuda for dinner.

Mac: Smooth as ever, Jax.

Jax: May I ask what Iím suspected of doing this time, why you're searching my jet?

Mac: Skye Quartermaine is still at large.

Jax: Oh. And you think that she's lurking somewhere on this plane?

Mac: Well, she's believed to be hiding out with Luke Spencer, who is also a fugitive. You were conveniently ready to fly your jet out of the country. Maybe you volunteered to bring along a couple extra passengers.

Officer: No sign of Skye Quartermaine or Luke Spencer. No one else is onboard except the pilot.

Jax: Are you satisfied? Now, if you don't mind, you know, if we don't take off soon, we're going to miss our reservation.

Mac: You'll have to settle for the local cuisine. I'm taking you downtown to the PCPD for questioning.

Mike: Hey, Iím not paying you to stare out the window.

Diego: I'm taking a break.

Mike: No, what you're taking is this tray and you're clearing the table.

Diego: Look, I'm only here because Courtneyís on a hot date with Jax.

Mike: Yeah, and she can't trust you to be by yourself! Now get moving. When you're finished bussing the table, there's a load of dishes in the back with your name on it.

Diego: Ok, relax.

Mike: Don't forget!

Diego: Ok! I'll get the tables outside.

Brook Lynn: Hey. What's with the police tape?

Diego: Didn't see it on TV?

Brook Lynn: See what?

Diego: Some big-deal federal prosecutor got shot in the middle of a press conference.

Brook Lynn: Are you serious?

Diego: Yeah, check it out on the local news.

Brook Lynn: Jeez.

Diego: Jason Morgan got arrested, which means that Sonny Corinthos ordered the hit. Sonny's the real deal. You mess with him and he'll take you out.

Brook Lynn: I'm sorry, you say that like it's a good thing.

Diego: Sonny's got what counts -- power, respect, money. Someday, Iím going to be just like him.

Brook Lynn: You know, Sonny's scary --

Diego: Yeah.

Brook Lynn: And sometimes he's even tragic.  But you, Diego, you're just pathetic.

Lois: You sleep with prostitutes?

Lorenzo: Of course not. The women whose company I enjoy are professional escorts. Lana's a reporter who supplements her income with escort work.

Lois: So that's why she left The Cellar with Durant the other night. She was --

Lorenzo: I think the term you're reaching for is "working." I hope I haven't offended you.

Lois: Not at all. No, what could be more complimentary than a guy that flirts with me one minute and then pays for a hooker -- excuse me, escort -- in the next? That's a really nice one-two combo.

Lorenzo: Well, I assumed you weren't ready to sleep with me again.

Lois: The chances are good and getting better every second that I never will be.

Lorenzo: Which is why I patronize --

Lois: Don't even! You just stop right there. Don't even try to tell me that you are doing the dirty with hookers while you're waiting for another chance with me, because I don't ever want to speak to you again!

Sonny: Sometimes my business is dangerous and people want to take what I have.

Michael: Enemies like Durant.

Sonny: Did I tell you -- I told you I didn't shoot Durant.

Michael: Did you want to?

Sonny: No, I didn't.

Michael: But you have guns and Uncle Jason has guns, and Max and --

Sonny: Ok, buddy, listen to me, all right? Uncle Jason and Max, they have -- they have guns because they want to keep us safe, and sometimes, you know, they're forced to fire those guns to protect the family.

Michael: And the way to stop bad men is to kill them, right?

Carly: They took John to surgery. They -- they said he may die, and then Ric showed up. He said he found you with a gun in your hand, and I just -- I'm sorry, Jason.

Jason: It's all right. It's ok. I understand that you're worried about Durant.

Carly: It's just that you keep telling me over and over again that I can't trust him and that he's a threat and I should stay away from him, and so I just -- I just automatically jump to the worst-case scenario and --

Jason: It's ok, it's ok.

Carly: You're right, Jason, Iím not thinking straight. It's like -- I spent my whole life wondering about my father, and now he may die.

Elizabeth: Carly? Steven wanted me to tell you that Mr. Durant's been taken to I.C.U. and you can go sit with him if you'd like.

Carly: How is he?

Elizabeth: You should ask Steven.

Carly: Hey. How's he doing? Did you get the bullet out?

Steven: Yeah. Yeah. The surgery took a lot longer than expected, but he's stabilized.

Carly: So he's going to be fine?

Steven: We have to wait and see. There was a lot of serious internal damage and heavy bleeding, so it's too soon to tell.

Carly: Oh, man. You know, I was so mad at him when he called me up on the podium. I just was wishing that he would go away for good. What if I get what I wanted?

Steven: You want him to live.

Carly: But if he doesn't --

Steven: Carly, John Durantís a fighter. And from what I've seen, so are you. So don't waste time and don't waste energy thinking about what happens if he dies. Get in there. Encourage him to live.

Carly: I will.

Steven: Yeah.

Carly: Thanks. Hey, Dad.

Sonny: Bless me, father, for I have sinned. I have sinned knowingly. I've lied, Iíve stolen, returned hate for hate, violence for violence. I've threatened, hurt people, killed them. And, you know, Iíve always found a way to justify my actions. The life that I've chosen is a brutal one. I'm willing to pay the price, but my children are innocent. Ahem. Michael, he -- he looks up to me. He emulates me. I've taught him, you know, to be fair and honest, to be strong, but not cruel. And now he's asking me if I kill my enemies. The answer's yes, but I don't know how to explain that to him. How do I tell him that there are circumstances that have led me to commit murder? It's too much for a child to carry. But what's the alternative? I -- I just try to tell him to always tell the truth. I need you to help me. How do I lie to my son?

Ric: You don't have a choice.

Carly: I've been thinking about when I was little and I used to wish for you. I'd fantasize about you being at my soccer games, taking me to the zoo, building sandcastles.  I hope you know that Iím here. I hope you know I'm sitting beside you and I want you to pull through this. You know, John, I've been struggling so much with figuring out a way to fit you into my life. But I think I forgot to tell you that Iím really thankful that I found you and that I have a father.  Come on. Come on, you come through this, because I want us to build some memories together. I want us to get to know each other. Come on. Come on, John, give us that chance. John? Dad?

John: Hello, sweetheart.

Brook Lynn: Hey.

Mike: Hey.

Brook Lynn: Where's Diego?

Mike: He's in the back, washing dishes.

Brook Lynn: Ok. Do you think he might be able to take a break?

Mike: I think I might be able to talk him into it.

Brook Lynn: Thanks.

Mike: Diego.

Diego: So what's the catch?

Brook Lynn: There's no catch. I just thought that maybe you might want to take a break and drink something. What can I get you? A latte, iced cappuccino?

Diego: Ok. How about an explanation for why you called me pathetic 15 minutes ago and now you're all smiles buying me a drink?

Brook Lynn: Look, I was harsh.

Diego: Oh, you think?

Brook Lynn: Yeah, well, ok, so I know that Sonny can seem like a cool person. Him and my ma? They practically grew up together, and I just -- look, don't say anything. Just go along with this.

Lois: What exactly do you think you're doing?

Brook Lynn: Oh, just following in your footsteps, ma.

Steven: You know, I give you too much credit. I knew you hated John Durant, but I never thought you'd risk shooting him in public. Did you just assume you'd get away with that? I mean, what did you think, you could just ditch the gun and then just creep away, or did you not care? Did you not care because the law enforcement in this town is so corrupt or incompetent that you think you can just get away with any crime?

Jason: You saved Emily and Morganís life, so I'm going to actually answer you. I didn't shoot Durant.

Steven: And I'm just supposed to believe that?

Jason: No, no powder residue on my hands or my clothes.

Steven: You could've worn gloves.

Jason: I did not shoot anybody. The shooter left the gun in my pocket. I reached for my cell phone and that's when I found it.

Steven: Are you trying to tell me that you were set up?

Jason: That's right, and whoever shot Durant is still out there.

Steven: I'm going to personally run the forensics on this case and I am going to go over everything as many times as it takes, and if you're telling me the truth, the evidence will prove that, but if you are lying, I will prove that and I swear to God I will bury you.

Sam: Why don't you back off? I mean, really, what is it with the PCPD? Jason was released from custody, so of course you're going to try and provoke him so he's going to fight back and you can lock him up again.

Steven: I'm just looking for the facts.

Sam: Yeah, sure you're looking for the facts. Why don't you go tell D.A. Lansing that Jason is innocent and if he is harassed by one more cop or doctor, we're suing!

Steven: I'll be sure to give him that message.

Jason: Are you out of your mind?

Ric: Too bad you didn't give God specifics on where all the men you killed were buried. Was she religious, our ma? I just find it interesting, if not somewhat ironic, that you are so devout. I just figured she was the one who taught it to you.

Sonny: We went to church every Sunday; prayed together every night.

Ric: Was that the Lordís Prayer, hmm? "Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, lead us not into temptation"?

Sonny: God didn't deliver her from evil. But she still prayed for his help and his guidance.

Ric: Here you are doing the very same thing. You know what, when we're young, we try so hard to please our parents. Sometimes that all turns, you know, we go the opposite path. We deny everything that they ever stood for. I hope that Michael chooses to do that one day when he realizes that you're the thug that you are.

Sonny: I don't give a damn what you hope for, Ric.

Ric: But you do give a damn about your son. Michael is a little boy. And you are the whole world to him. You are his hero, Sonny. You don't need to ask God for some kind of answer. You already know what it is. You have to go to Michael and you have to lie to him, because telling that child the truth would ruin his life.

Carly: How do you feel?

John: Like I was hit by a truck.

Carly: Well, that's not exactly what happened.

John: I was shot.

Carly: Yeah. But they got the bullet out and you're going to be just fine.

John: I introduced you to the crowd, called you up to the podium. Were you hit?

Carly: No.

John: Were you scared?

Carly: I was for you.

John: Nah. Don't worry about your old man. Too mean and ornery to die. Grr.

Carly: Well, that's good. You hang on to that thought then, ok?

John: I'm sorry, Carly.

Carly: For what?

John: For putting you at risk. You could've been hurt. You're angry with me.

Carly: Listen, we've been given another chance, and I don't want to waste it.

Lois: Ok, obviously I missed a beat here because I thought that you and Diego weren't really getting along.

Brook Lynn: Well, things change.

Diego: Yeah, sometimes before you know it.

Lois: Ahem.

Brook Lynn: You know, maybe it's genetic. I mean, you like bad boys, I like bad boys. Alcazar's a criminal, and so is Diego.

Diego: Hey.

Brook Lynn: What?

Lois: Ok, I'm getting the picture here.

Brook Lynn: You know the other night at the carnival, ma, all Diego could talk about was how many times he was almost arrested.

Lois: Wow. What a romantic guy.

Diego: Look, this thing's getting a little weird for me.

Brook Lynn: You know the feeling, right? There's something -- oh, I don't know -- magnetic about that kind of rebellion. It's deep --

Lois: Ok, look, do you want to cut to the bottom line here or should I?

Brook Lynn: Bottom line?

Lois: If I give you my word that I will never see Alcazar again, you will ditch Diego. Am I right?

Brook Lynn: Here's your chance.

Carly: If Iíd lost you, I would've had regrets.

John: I'm going to be around for a long, long time.

Carly: Well, I'm counting on it.

John: I know how difficult this is for you, Carly, what I do for a living.

Carly: Yeah, it is difficult. It's a very difficult situation. But you know what? I've had a lot of struggles in my life and Iíve figured out how to deal with it, and I will figure out how to deal with this one.

John: You don't give up easily.

Carly: No. See? See how well you know me already?

John: Well, there's another trait we happen to share.

Carly: Hmm. Do you know, Iím really glad I found you, actually, because now I can blame all my faults on genetics?

John: Who says they're faults?

Carly: You are my dad. And I'm not going to let that go. I am not letting you go.

John: You promise?

Carly: I do. I promise.

John: My life was empty before I knew you, Carly. I didn't know love. Now I've found it with my beautiful, amazing daughter. I will do anything to keep you in my life.

Carly: All you got to do right now is just get well.

John: I will. As long as you're there to encourage me.

Carly: I'm not going anywhere.

John: Do you suppose a drink is out of the question?

[Carly laughs]

 [Door opens]

Michael: Hey, Dad.

Sonny: Hey.

Dr. OíDonnell: X-ray doesn't show any fracture.

Sonny: Great. So that mean he doesn't have to wear a cast?

Dr. OíDonnell: No, no, he'll just have to wear a bandage and a brace for a few days. I'll be back in a few minutes to tape Michaelís arm.

Sonny: All right. Thank you, doctor.

Dr. OíDonnell: You bet.

Sonny: So, how do you feel, buddy?

Michael: My arm's still a little sore, but Iím ok.

Sonny: Yeah? All right.

Michael: You ok, Daddy?

[Sonny sighs]

Sonny: Come over here. Ahem. I've been thinking a lot about what you asked. And I know you've witnessed a lot of violence -- all the times I've been shot, the car bomb. I just want you to understand something, ok? The men who did these things -- fired the guns, planted the bombs -- they are willing to kill to get what they wanted.

Michael: So you had to get them before they got you.

Sonny: No, that's -- killing is wrong. And you will never kill anyone. All right?

Jax: You know, I'm really sorry about tonight. I had something a little more romantic in mind.

Courtney: You know, I just don't get it, Jax. You're completely innocent. How can they keep you here without some sort of proof?

Jax: That's a good question.

Courtney: You know, if they don't release you in 10 minutes, you should call a lawyer and the media.

Jax: I have a better idea. When they release me -- and they will -- I want you to go away with me.

Courtney: Well, isn't it a little late for dinner in Bermuda?

Jax: No, no, the location doesn't matter as long as Iím with you.

Courtney: Yeah, I'd like that, too.

Jax: Promise me something.

Courtney: What?

Jax: Wherever we end up tonight, we make love. Huh?

Ric: Sorry. We've obtained a warrant to perform a forensics sweep of your apartment.

Jax: I'm sorry, and what do you expect to find there?

Ric: Well, evidence that Skye Quartermaine had been there.

Jax: Oh.

Ric: The sweep won't be completed until morning, so might want to say good night to your date. You're going to be in lockup.

Jason: Didn't I ask you to go home?

Sam: Yeah.

Jason: Yeah, and?

Sam: You sent me home with Justus.

Jason: Right.

Sam: It didn't mean I had to stay here.

Jason: Ok, do you have a problem with me telling you to rest all the time?

Sam: Jason, Iím in perfect health right now.

Jason: So you come to a hospital and pick a fight?

Sam: Yes, I come to the hospital and pick a fight. I am worried about you. You are the one in trouble, not me.

Jason: Sam, I don't know how many times we're going to have this conversation. You know, it's kind of cute. I don't need you defending me, though, ok?

Sam: Then tell me you've been cleared. Convince me. Convince me that the police aren't going to prosecute you for shooting Durant.

Jason: My prints are on the gun, Sam. The cops found me with it in my hand. I have threatened Durant, and he's going to more than willing to testify to that.

Sam: Well, that's still not proof.

Jason: No. But you know what, there's a chance that I might get -- I might get charged with attempted murder. So that's why you need to calm down. You cannot get me out of this, and if you try, you could hurt yourself and you can hurt the baby.

Sam: Ok, what are you going to do?

[Jason sighs]

Jason: The only thing I can do -- find out who shot Durant.

Lois: Just play along.

Lorenzo: I think I can manage. Although the last I heard, you were through with me.

Lois: I changed my mind.

Lorenzo: Hmm. So when you said you never wanted to speak to me again, that meant for the next half an hour?

Lois: My daughter is trying to blackmail me again, ok? She's all over that wild child Diego in there and she's threatening to date him. So I have to call her bluff; let her know she's not in charge of who I date.

Lorenzo: So now we're dating?

Lois: For as long as it takes to get Brook Lynn under control.

Lorenzo: And after that?

Lois: We're through, never speaking again. If I see you on the street, I will cross to the other side. Because you're trouble, and after this, I want nothing to do with you.

Brook Lynn: Look at her kissing him. Oh, it's so disgusting.

Diego: Yeah, no worse than you.

Brook Lynn: I'm sorry, run that by me?

Diego: Hey, you hate my guts, remember, but you were sitting in my lap just to prove a point to your mother.

Brook Lynn: Yeah, well, I didn't hear you complaining.

Diego: Well, why complain when I can just walk away?

Brook Lynn: Because you canít.

Diego: Watch me.

Lois: Is there a problem?

Brook Lynn: Um -- no. Diego -- he just had to go. He's probably going to the park to mug somebody.

Lois: How nice for him.

Brook Lynn: Mm-hmm. I just hope the cops don't catch him, you know, because it really sucks when they try and lock him up.

Lois: The cops can be like that. You know, they're always cramping a guy's style.

Brook Lynn: Oh, come off of it, ma, all right? Quit pretending like that you approve.

Lois: I'm just agreeing, ok? The pot can't call the kettle black, right?

Brook Lynn: Right.

Lois: Ok, you know what? Let's go to the studio. We have work to do. I'll see you tomorrow night.

Brook Lynn: Mm-hmm. Work.

Lorenzo: I look forward to it.

Lana: I'm leaving town. I want my final payment.

Lorenzo: You'll get it after you cover your tracks.

John: Ow. So, what's the prognosis, doc? Will I survive?

Steven: John, you're in better shape than you have any right to be.

John: I had the best medicine -- my own daughter holding my hand when I woke up.

Steven: You know, Carly just didn't want to leave your side.

John: I don't know how I got so lucky. God knows I don't deserve it. She loves me.

Steven: Yeah. So where do we go from here?

John: I don't know. Carly and I will spend some time together, I guess, get to know each other a little better, build a relationship that can survive anything -- even the day I put Corinthos in prison.

Sonny: Hey.

Carly: Hey. He -- he's going to be ok. They got the bullet out.

Sonny: Were you with him?

Carly: Yeah, we talked, and I think it helped him to know that I was there.

Sonny: Good, good.

Carly: Oh, how's Michael?

Sonny: Michael's great.

Carly: Yeah?

Sonny: The doctor's just going to wrap up his arm. We're going to go, if you're ready to go.

Carly: Ok, yeah, I -- maybe I should stay.

Sonny: You sure?

Carly: I don't know, it's just kind of -- the shooting's a bit of a wake-up call, don't you think? I don't know that I should turn my back on him.

Sonny: Well, you know, sometimes, you know, the compromises we make are the only way to show how much we love. We just have to hope the decisions we make don't end up wrecking us.

>> On the next "General Hospital" --

Luke: I got the cops off our tail.

Skye: You accused Jax?

Courtney: He had nothing to do with Skyeís escape.

Mac: We got proof.

Emily: Helena has no power over me or Nikolas.

Alexis: You need to be careful. You know she's going to try to kill Emily.

Helena: Hello, my dear one.
