Emily: Oh, my God.
Emily: Oh, my God.
Mary: What is it? What's wrong?
Emily: Look, look, down there.
Mary: What? There's -- there's nothing there. Did -- did you see someone?
Emily: I saw Nikolas.
Lucky: Skye? It's Lucky. You there?
Luke: Live cop at the door, dead cop on the couch. This is the perfect frame.
Skye: Well, got a plan?
Luke: Yeah, take off your top.
Lucky: Just give her a second. She's --
Luke: Bad timing. We're kind of involved here.
Lucky: Dad, this is official police business. We got a tip that Ross Duncanís body was discovered here, and we need to search the house.
Carly: Lorenzo's done this kind of thing before. I mean, at the custody hearing, in the courtroom. Sonny's limo was supposed to explode just in time to prove that he was a menace so I could get custody. I mean, it was a good plan, right? It wasn't so bad if you believe that the ends justifies the means, and Lorenzo does.
Courtney: Ok, but you told me that Alcazar was letting go, Carly, that he accepted you're back with Sonny.
Carly: Yeah, well, maybe I'm wrong.
Courtney: Ok. So let me get this straight. My office was riddled with bullets, but my life was never in danger? It was all just an elaborate charade to make Alcazar look good in your eyes? What if you're wrong, Carly? I mean, what if the man I hate more than anything in this world just saved my life? What am I supposed to do with that? God, I despise Lorenzo Alcazar. I don't want to owe him anything.
Carly: You donít. This was all about him getting to me.
Sam: You don't want Sonny to know about this any more than I do. He has a life with his family, and I am not going to destroy that.
Jason: You don't really have a choice, Sam. Sooner or later, no matter what you do, Sonny's going to find out.
Sam: Hey. I didn't know you were coming over tonight.
Sonny: I'm looking -- I'm looking for Jason. Max is looking all over for you. He spotted your car.
Jason: My cell battery's dead. I'm sorry. What's up?
Sonny: No, everything's handled. Why you here with Sam?
Luke: Not so fast, officer. You got a warrant?
Lucky: Listen, can you give us a minute? Dad, this is serious. If there's something you got to tell me, do it before I come in.
Luke: Do I have to draw you a picture? Please! Look, I'm indisposed here! You want proof?
Lucky: Skye, um -- I'm sorry about this.
Luke: Ok, that concludes the peep show for this evening.
Lucky: Listen, Dad, I still need to look around, ok? Ross Duncan has been missing for a few weeks, and I have a responsibility to follow up.
Luke: Then get a search warrant!
Lucky: Listen, if there's some kind of trouble that you're in, listen, I wish you would just let me help.
Luke: I don't need your help. I've been doing this since before you were born. I think I can remember how to do it. Now, run along, sonny. You're spoiling the mood.
Skye: Is he gone?
Luke: They just started the cars.
Skye: Next time it's you cozying up next to that corpse.
Luke: He's not my type.
Skye: You know, Luckyís more suspicious than ever. He's going to be back with that search warrant.
Luke: You're right. Detective Doughnut is going to have to have a permanent new home. Oh.
Emily: He was right there.
Mary: Well, I didn't see anybody, Emily.
Emily: No, wait, you blocked my view for just -- just a second. Maybe he went towards Kellyís or --
Mary: Wait, wait, wait. You're really upset, and the fog is -- it's thick. You shouldn't run around like this.
Emily: I have to know, Mary.
Mary: Just -- just take a breath, ok? Take a breath, and then we'll find whoever it was together.
Emily: You're right. You're right. What am I doing? We both know that -- that I couldn't have seen Nikolas. It -- it was probably some dock worker with dark hair, or -- or maybe no one was here at all.
Mary: Come here. Sit down.
Emily: All right.
Mary: Sit down.
Emily: Oh, my God.
Mary: You're ok. You loved Nikolas. It's not unusual for you to think that you could've seen him, Emily. This happened to me all the time. When I first lost Connor, I -- I spotted him in a crowd, or Iíd walk past a shop, and there he'd be. But he wasn't there. He was dead, and he -- he couldn't magically appear one night and make everything ok.
Emily: I know, and Nikolas can't, either. I know that. I'm -- I'm not deluded. I just -- I just feel like Iím still waiting for him to come back.
Mary: Grief is a horrible thing. It makes you desperate. I'm not surprised that your mind was playing tricks on you.
Emily: I just -- I still see and feel him everywhere, Mary. I mean, we pretty much grew up here. Every time I walk by Kellyís, I remember us hanging out there as kids. And I -- I can't look out onto the water without thinking of him holding me against the wind all the way to Spoon Island. And sometimes at night, I feel like he's still sleeping next to me. I can actually feel his heart against mine. And it's this amazing moment of peace. And then I bolt awake and I realize it was just a dream.
Mary: It's hard to be alone.
Emily: It's harder not to hope for a miracle, Mary. You know, we never found Nikolas' body. I -- I thought that Nikolas was lost to me before, and then he came back. And so I guess I understand why my heart reaches out now and then.
Sam: I called Jason.
Sam: I wanted him to know that I would never let our relationship get in the way of your promise to Michael.
Sonny: Jason, I appreciate your concern. It's not that complicated. I mean, I like Sam. She understands what's going on. So what --
Sam: I'm clear on the boundaries, ok? I know what we have and what we don't, and I also know that this is temporary. I won't do anything more to hold on to Sonny.
Sonny: Right. Sam?
Sonny: You ok?
Sam: I just need some rest, please. If you guys would just go somewhere --
Sonny: No, listen to me.
Sam: No, really.
Sonny: Why are your hands freezing?
Sam: Sonny, I don't know. I just --
Carly: If the danger was real, I am grateful to Lorenzo for saving your life, but honestly, I -- I don't know what to take at face value anymore.
Courtney: Lorenzo tried to protect me from a couple men with guns, Carly. That doesn't even begin to wipe the slate clean. I will never forgive him for what he's done to me or Jason or my baby. Look, I know it's different for you.
Carly: It doesn't matter what I think about Lorenzo anymore. I'm moving back in with Sonny.
Courtney: Carly, living at the penthouse didn't protect you before. I mean, it still didn't stop you from having feelings for Alcazar.
Carly: Yeah, well, that was because of the brain injury. That's how it started. And then Sonny pushed me out. He tried to take my kids. Lorenzo -- he honestly tried to help me.
Courtney: Ok, well, what if he offers to help you again? How long can you stay in a marriage of convenience with Sonny?
Carly: Well, as long as it's good for my kids, ok? I -- I want to do what's best for Michael and Morgan right now.
Courtney: Carly, how can they be happy if you're not?
Carly: Sonny and I told Michael. We cannot take it back right now.
Courtney: What's going to happen when Sonny does something selfish again and you're furious with him? Alcazar will be waiting.
Carly: Courtney, what's the point?
Courtney: Look, ok, this is not your fault. This is Sonny's fault. He has put you in an impossible situation. But, Carly, I -- Iíve seen how happy you guys used to be. I know how much you used to love each other. Now, you still have two children, and you'll be living together. Maybe -- maybe if you both give each other some time, maybe you could get back to where you used to be.
Carly: Maybe? I can't count on maybes. Right now, I need to figure out what is important to me, and on the top of that list are my boys. And I need to give them the home that they want with their father. Sonny will always be their father, but he's no longer my reason for existing.
Skye: Lord, I swear every time that Ross thaws, he stinks more of after-shave.
Luke: Well, that isn't his after-shave, darling. I've been spraying whatever's aerosol on him for a long time now, but it's a losing battle.
Skye: Hey, is anyone watching the house?
Luke: Coast is clear.
Skye: Oh, yeah -- till Lucky comes back with a search warrant, and sooner or later, he is going to check that crawlspace.
Luke: Don't worry, the stiff isn't going to be down there that long.
Skye: Luke, are you sure this isn't Faith responsible for this? I mean, this would be the perfect way for her to force us both out of the club and get her revenge.
Luke: No, darling, I've talked to her. I'm convinced she doesn't know where the guy is. She's looking for him. And Tracy wants to use him as leverage, so, you know, she didn't deposit him here on your sofa.
Skye: Oh, God. This is insane.
Luke: That's what Iím starting to think. I'm afraid there's a killer out there playing very elaborate games who's about two beans short of a refried sandwich.
Carly: Mmm. You are right. Cheers.
Courtney: Yeah, I know. Mochaccino is the universal problem-solver.
Carly: Oh, yes. Ugh. I really wish it were that easy to figure out my life.
Courtney: Where would you start?
Carly: I don't know. I know I need to figure out my stuff, right? I need to figure out what works for me, what makes me happy, but -- oops.
Carly: Ooh, I would love to see Sam hurt.
Courtney: Come on, Carly. You know the only reason Sonny got involved with Sam, because -- well, it was because he thought you were cheating with Alcazar.
Courtney: It was a misunderstanding that just spiraled out of control, and Sam took advantage. But now's your chance to shut her down, you know? I mean, if you can live with Sonny for a while without seeing Alcazar, he will break up with Sam, I know it.
Carly: Yeah, that's assuming I can deal with the situation at hand. You know -- you know that every time Sonny walks out that door to go see Sam, Iím going to be furious. God, Lorenzo -- you know, he's kind of like a safety net for me. He makes me feel wanted. He's a distraction for me and the feelings Iím dealing with with Sonny, and I just -- I'm talking about myself again, all about me. This was supposed to be about my kids -- Michael and Morgan and their needs -- and you know that is the only reason I am moving back in with Sonny. It's for the kids.
Courtney: Ok. Well, then use this as an opportunity to bond with your sons. Concentrate on them.
Carly: Right, I don't need any romantic complications, right? I'll just be the mother of Sonny's kids. Oh, I got to go pack up.
Courtney: Ok, call me. I want to tell you about my foundation.
Carly: What foundation?
Courtney: Oh, it's -- it's to help underprivileged and abused kids, you know, keep them in school and get them counseling.
Carly: What? When did you come up with this?
Courtney: In the middle of the night, after Sonny banished me from his life and Jason shut the door in my face. Look, I realize that I can't reach them and, for whatever reason, they chose that life. They don't seem to mind the danger and the pain. I can't help them, but I can help the kids who might grow up to be just like them. Anyway, I'm going to try.
Carly: Wow, Courtney, I really admire you so much. I do.
Courtney: Donít. Don't admire me yet. I still have a long way to go.
Sam: Where's Jason?
Sonny: You ok?
Sam: I fainted, didn't I?
Sonny: Yeah, you fainted. I was going to call the ambulance, but Jason said you'd be ok, that you'd explain to me what's really going on here.
Sam: Look, I haven't been honest.
Sonny: About what?
Sam: All of this -- you still seeing Carly, me agreeing to see you.
Sonny: What, you're having second thoughts?
Sam: Yeah, about every 30 seconds I am. First, I want to be with you no matter what.
Sam: Then I want to bail immediately and never look back. And then I think that -- I get this vision of never seeing you again and never having you hold me, and I decide that what we have is indeed a workable solution.
Sonny: So what you're saying is that I got you so upset that you fainted?
Sam: No. No, Sonny, I haven't eaten at all lately, and I barely slept, and when I feel insecure, I scream at Jason because I don't want to scream at you.
Sonny: No. Right.
Sam: I've screamed so much that he must really hate me, because I hate me thinking about it.
Sonny: No, he doesn't hate you. He told me to take it easy on you because you're going through a rough time.
Sam: So are you. Have you ever heard the expression, "If too many people tell you you're drunk, sit down"?
Sonny: Does that mean you think we should do -- sit?
Sam: Well, I think if everyone, including us, is getting hurt by this, it's time to say goodbye.
Sonny: I'm the last person who's going to force you to do something you don't want to do. But the truth is Iím not exactly ready to say goodbye.
Sam: It would make things a lot easier on a lot of people if I left.
Sonny: Like Iíve told you about 80,000 times already, if you feel like you need to go, I'm not going to stop you. There's nothing holding you here. But if you go, I hope it's with good memories and you don't think of me as some kind of regret.
Sam: How could I?
Sonny: Well, I don't know.
Sam: Come on, you accepted me for who I am. You made me laugh and you made me smile and you made me lucky. Sonny -- I don't know what happens next.
Sonny: Well, I can tell you this, ok -- do not leave without saying goodbye, at least a little warning. I don't need a whole long explanation. I don't want to come here one night and find that you've sailed away. We've been honest with each other from the start. I want us to end that way, and I want you to know, you know, how much you mean to me before you go. Get over here.
[Knock on door]
Mary: Oh. Connor?
Nikolas: I've been waiting for you.
Mary: Let me guess -- peanut butter and jelly.
Nikolas: Yeah, well, this time there was even less preparation involved. Huh? A tour of great cheeses and a good bottle of wine.
Mary: What did I do to deserve you?
Nikolas: You loved me.
Mary: Loving you is easy, Connor.
Nikolas: No, not always. You've -- you've been through hell with me, and I just -- I just wanted to show you how much I appreciate everything that you do for me and apologize if it ever seems like I take it for granted.
Mary: Where'd you get all this stuff?
Nikolas: The cheese shop in town. And then on my way home, I went for a walk on the waterfront.
Mary: You -- you went back into town.
Nikolas: Yeah, I didn't think there was really any risk. But then, see, then I heard voices on the docks and I came right back here to you.
Skye: We could rent a meat locker.
Luke: Too public. It'd leave a paper trail.
Skye: Oh, Luke, we've got to think of something. If Iím arrested, Tracy won't hesitate for a second to show those pictures of me and Ross.
Luke: If you're nailed for murder, Tracy loses all her leverage over Jax, which, from what Iíve seen, is not what she wants.
Skye: Ugh. I can't believe he's been dragged into this, too.
Luke: Will you forget your ex? Concentrate on the popsicle and who might have done him in.
Skye: I just don't know what the killer wants. If this is about blackmail, why haven't they made a demand by now?
Luke: Maybe it's not about money. Maybe it's personal.
[Porch floorboards creak]
Skye: All I know is thank God it was you who found me that night. If it had been somebody else, I --
Luke: Well, clearly the murderer didn't plan on me showing up.
Skye: What are you saying?
Luke: What Iím saying, sweetheart, is this is looking more and more like an elaborate setup from the beginning. Somebody's gone to a lot of trouble to put you behind bars for the rest of your life. Give me a list of all your enemies.
Skye: Well, that's a long list.
Luke: Take a stab at it. Sorry.
Skye: Well, I haven't really talked to anyone in Pine Valley for a while -- my grandmother just to keep me up to date on what's going on there. And, well, I guess my family's involved in their own drama, so I can't imagine them wasting their time or energy trying to ruin my life.
Luke: All right, what about here in the Chuckles?
Skye: Well, Tracy and Faith have been accounted for, and Edward disinherited me, but I can't imagine that he'd want to frame me for murder.
Luke: No, no, no, no, this doesn't feel like greed. This feels more like -- revenge. So let's make a list of who you've, you know, hurt, who you've stolen from -- anybody that would want to make you pay.
Skye: Well, it's got to be somebody insane. You said it yourself. I -- well, maybe I didn't do anything at all to provoke this. Maybe it's as simple as me just having red hair.
Luke: No, darling, it's not that random. All right, look, let's try this again. Let's -- let's list your worst transgressions in life -- you know, who you've caused harm to, who you may have cheated or rejected. And believe me, don't worry about what I think of it because anything you've done, I've done worse.
Skye: Luke, I'm not hiding anything, ok? It's just it's a little hard to solve the murder when we have to keep moving the body.
Luke: Well, I promise you that this is going to be Detective Doughnut's last move. He's going in the ground.
Skye: Ugh. God, I hate this. I realize that we've been joking about this because it's a hell of a lot easier to deal with it that way than to deal with what really happened, but what happened to Ross is pretty awful, you know? And I'm sure that he has people out there who -- who must have loved him, who must be worried about him.
Luke: You're a decent woman. Skye Chandler-Quartermaine; you got a really good heart. I'm sure wherever Detective Doughnut is right now, he does not want you paying for something you didn't do.
Skye: Well, then can we please just solve the murder? For him as much as for me?
Luke: All right, stay here.
Skye: Luke, just --
Luke: Lock the door.
Skye: Luke, just be -- just be careful.
Mary: Mmm. That's delicious.
Nikolas: Yeah. Um -- all right. So now there's -- there's something I need to ask you.
Mary: Why? What? It sounds serious.
Nikolas: Um, yeah. When I -- I came back to you basically a new man, you know, with no memories of who I was or what we had with each other. But you've -- you've treated me with such love and such -- such respect that Iíve learned to love you all over again.
Mary: You don't know how long Iíve been wanting you to say that.
Nikolas: I don't -- I don't even -- I don't know your maiden name, but that's ok because I know the best things about you. I know your heart. So -- well, here I am on bended knee, asking you with all the love and sincerity that I have, will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?
Mary: I canít.
Lorenzo: So you're moving out? How do you want to handle the keys?
Carly: I guess I'll just need them for 24 hours.
Lorenzo: So you're leaving tomorrow?
Carly: Yeah, that's the plan. I'm just -- I'm just finishing packing up. Do you --?
Lorenzo: Yeah, thanks. Putting things in boxes. Wish we were able to do that with memories, just pack them away until they're needed; till they don't hurt anymore. This is the place I brought you when I broke you out of Shadybrook; where we first made love. This place represented hope to me.
Carly: I'm going home.
Lorenzo: No. You're going to live in Sonny's house, where you will lie to your children about your relationship with their father. It takes love to make a home.
Carly: Yeah, well, I love my children. So does Sonny.
Lorenzo: Will that be enough to sustain you? Can you ignore the lack of trust, the fact that Sonny doesn't respect you?
Carly: I need you to go.
Lorenzo: I don't blame you. I have this awkward habit of blurting out the truth.
Carly: Lorenzo, I thought that you were over me and that you want to move on.
Lorenzo: Carly, I am trying to be.
Lorenzo: But I'm not sorry for our time together. I wonder if you are.
Sonny: Hey. I got -- I told Michael that Iíd stay with him at the hospital. He's waiting for me.
Sam: Mm-hmm. You're forgiven for bailing on me. I love how devoted you are to your kids.
Sonny: Well, I come from a broken home just like you, you know. It does something to your mind, makes you angry, confused. I don't want Michael and Morgan to have to suffer through that.
Sam: Oh, they won't. They have you to protect them.
Sonny: I was blessed with a family I didn't deserve. I can't take that lightly, and I have before. I won't do it again.
Sam: Don't think about that --
Sam: Right now. Ok?
Sonny: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Sam: Just Michael needs you, so you should go.
Sonny: All right. I will call you, ok?
Sam: There's something I have to tell you first. I just wanted to say that Iím -- I'm blessed to have you in my life, and you truly accept me for who I am. Sonny, there's nothing like that.
Sonny: You know, you really -- you really got to stop giving these compliments, because Iím already too arrogant, you know what I mean?
Sam: Well, I can't help myself.
Sonny: You going to be all right? You feeling better? Looks like you are.
Sam: Yeah. I'm going to sleep like a baby tonight.
Sonny: I probably won't be seeing you tomorrow because Michaelís coming home from the hospital.
Sam: That's great. He's going to be home with his family.
Sonny: Yeah, that's right.
Sam: I mean, there's nothing more important than keeping a promise you make to your child.
Sonny: That's for sure. Ok, I'll call you.
Sam: I love you.
Nikolas: People renew their vows all the time, Mary.
Mary: Not out of guilt.
Mary: I think you want to renew our vows because you're trying to convince yourself that we belong together. You're trying to make yourself believe that this could work.
Nikolas: I'm not trying to convince myself of anything. I -- I love you. Every day, I'm more sure of that.
Mary: Well, you're a good man, Connor, and you care about me out of obligation.
Nikolas: Oh-- Mary, this isn't about obligation. We're husband and wife, ok? I want to look you in your eyes and make those promises to you. I want us to share a wedding that we both remember.
Mary: Is this really happening?
Nikolas: Yes. Yes, believe it. You -- you made me fall for you all over again, and I want us to spend the rest of our lives together. So -- so will you do it? Will you marry me again?
Carly: Listen, right or wrong, I am going back to Sonny.
Lorenzo: Carly, you're stronger than anyone Iíve ever known. But are you strong enough to stay with Sonny while he continues his affair with another woman?
Carly: Fine. You want to hear me say it? I'm going to hate every second.
Lorenzo: If you know that, you're setting yourself up to fail.
Carly: My son almost died trying to put his family back together. Lorenzo, I don't have a choice. He has suffered too much.
Lorenzo: So have you. I want you to be happy, to live a rich and fulfilling life. Look, I'm sorry for the times that Iíve hurt you, but I have tried to make up for them.
Carly: I know that. I want you to have a rich and fulfilling life, too, Lorenzo. It just cannot be with me. Whatever we had, it's -- it's over.
Lorenzo: Well, I can't promise I'll be around if you decide to change your mind. Whatever happens, Carly, I love you, and I always will.
Jason: Hey. There's a nurse in with Michael now, but he's really been asking for you.
Sonny: I'll get in with him in a minute. You should know there was a shooting at Courtneyís office tonight.
Jason: Was she there?
Sonny: She's fine, she's fine. But you ready for this?
Sonny: Alcazar covered her when the shooters opened fire.
Jason: Alcazar? What was --?
Sonny: Yeah, well, I guess it was some kind of miracle. You know, he just happened to be there to finalize the purchase of her property.
Jason: So I take it the gunmen were after him?
Sonny: Maybe, I don't know. Maybe it was a setup. I don't know, you know, he's trying to play hero for Carly once again. When were you going to tell me that Courtney sold out to Alcazar?
Jason: I was going to tell you when Michael was better. While he was hurt, it just didn't seem important to me.
Sonny: Ric's going to use it against us.
Sonny: If Alcazar gets busted moving drugs through those piers, he's going to charge Courtney as an accomplice.
Jason: Well, once she's sold the property, she's done, right? She's not responsible for how it's used.
Sonny: It's what you call a criminal conspiracy. Ric can claim that Alcazar and I did business together and Courtneyís the go-between. So the only way we can protect ourselves is to make sure that nothing illegal moves through that property. You understand what I'm saying?
Jason: Ok, I'll handle that. You concentrate on Michael.
Sonny: I will. What about Sam? I mean, she -- you know, I'm a little worried. She's been acting a little strange. What's the real reason you were on the boat with her?
Mary: Are you sure you love me?
Nikolas: Yes. Yes, with -- with all my heart, whether I remember it or not. I still feel it. It's a part of me.
Mary: But you're sure it's for me?
Nikolas: Mary, who else would it be for? You're everything that I know. And today -- today I finally understood your concerns about losing me. And you know why? Because I was worried that I could lose you, too. And I don't know what I would do if we were separated.
Mary: I won't go anywhere. I'm here, Connor, whether we renew our vows or not.
Nikolas: The love I feel for you -- it's only going to grow. You know, and I just -- I want us to do something that represents our commitment now. I want us -- I want us to declare our love for each other before God. So -- so will you let me off the hook already and say yes?
Mary: Yes. Yes, yes! Of course I'll marry you!
Jason: Sam told you why I was there, right?
Sonny: Yeah, yeah. I mean, she was a little more honest after you left. She said she was upset, she took a lot out on you, and -- I just appreciate, you know, you looking after her.
Jason: Wait, no, no, no, Sonny, there's a lot more to this than --
Sonny: I'm not going to make a choice if that's what you want me to do here. I can't just dump Sam like nothing, like she's nothing and then just be with Carly. Forget it. I can't do that. There's a lot of other stuff going on here. I will -- look, I will make the same promise to you as I did to God and my son. I will do everything I can to keep my family together under one roof and I will never, ever separate Michael and Morgan from their mother again.
Carly: I agree. Listen, we want to give the boys the best life possible, the best life they deserve. That means a mother and a father together. And so we'll make it work for our boys.
Luke: No, we're ok for now. Look, I don't want you staying here alone.
Skye: And I don't want you to be the next person with an ice pick in your back.
Luke: I'm seeing you through to the end of this, Blaze, no matter what the end of this is. You got two choices -- you come home with me or I sleep here.
Skye: There you go again.
Luke: Trying to angle an invitation to stay over?
Skye: Hmm. Being wonderful, courageous, and taking absolutely no credit for it whatsoever.
[Knock on door]
Lucky: Skye, it's Lucky. I need to talk to my dad.
Skye: He has that search warrant by now.
Luke: Ok, be cool. Just follow my lead. Well, that was fast, officer. Who'd you have to bribe?
Lucky: I'm not here about Detective Duncan. I got a call from Mom's hospital. She's missing.
>> On the next "General Hospital" --
Courtney: I'm out of your life, Jason. I don't need your protection.
Alexis: I would appreciate it if you wouldn't approach my daughter.
Skye: You act like you stole Kristina and you're about to be busted at any moment.
Carly: We agree to parent together, but every other aspect of our lives, it's separate.
