Lucky: No sign.
Emily: There will be.
Lucky: Emily --
Emily: No. He can't be dead, Lucky. I won't believe it.
Faith: Oh, my. Welcome to your new home. You come in all dirty and once we finish filing our tax return, you're clean. A girl could get used to doing this kind of laundry. Why are you breathing on me? Go do what you're paid for and guard the door.
Ross: Freeze! Both of you, hands up! All right, turn around, nice and slow.
Faith: What is the problem, officers?
Ross: Faith Rosco, you're under arrest for money laundering.
Faith: Money laundering? Me? No, no, no. You are so misinformed. This cash is legal. You have no idea how well the casino's been doing since it opened.
Ross: Save it for the D.A. Come on. Move. Move! Grab the evidence -- I got this. You have the right to remain silent. If you give up that right, anything you say can and will be used against you --
Man: My employer expects you to leave and not come back.
Second man: I got a message for the boss man. I'm not going anywhere until the witnesses are dead.
First man: He won't like it.
Second man: Too bad.
Man: Who's there?
Luke: Hey, buddy! You got a light?
Man: What kind of a throwback are you? Nobody smokes anymore. Beat it.
Luke: "Throwback"? Is it necessary to be rude? A simple, civil no would've answered a perfectly reasonable question. What kind of simplistic, one-size-fits-all world do you live in where nobody smokes anymore? If god hadn't intended man to smoke, he wouldn't have created Zippo lighters, so you take your pink, pretty, pristine, tar-free little lungs back to the no-smoking sector before I call those -- those plainclothesmen that hang out here! Hey, officer!
Man: You know, I got another name for you -- whack job.
Luke: A "whack job" -- now I'm a "whack job"! One insult wasn't enough! You can come out now.
Sam: Ahem. Hi.
Luke: Hi. You can thank me for saving your pretty little butt later. First tell me what'd I save it from?
Sonny: Our son's in the hospital, he had a seizure. It never occurred to you to call me? It had to take Jason to call me? You're too busy with your drug lord boyfriend doing --
Carly: No, I was too busy taking care of our sick son, and where the hell were you? Off on vacation with your new girlfriend, sleeping in our bed? Don't you dare come down on me. I know it is more convenient for you to think that I have no redeeming qualities whatsoever, but I am a good mother. And my first instinct was to take care of my sick baby, my second was to notify you. But unfortunately, you were out of the country with your bed warmer Sam and then Morgan got better, so I figured why interrupt?
Sonny: And then Morgan took a turn for the worse. You still didn't call. It had to take Jason to call. If it were up to you, I'd have no idea my son was sick.
Carly: Well, then, you should've thought about your son before you thought about yourself.
Sonny: So what? You heard I was away with Sam, so you decided to punish me?
Carly: No, I am not petty like that when it comes to my children.
Sonny: Admit it! You're mad at me because I'm seeing Sam!
Mary: Oh, Connor, thank god. I was so worried about you. Where were you?
Nikolas: I'm sorry.
Mary: That's all right. Where did you go?
Nikolas: For some air, some perspective. Look -- look, I don't want to minimize how difficult this must be for you, ok? But you know what? At least you have some frame of reference, ok? I'm so scared, I'm just -- just flying blind here, ok? I don't have one single memory of -- of you, of this marriage -- or this place that we have together that you say was our refuge, not one! You -- you are Mary Bishop. And I'm your husband. And the two of us are strangers to me. I thought if I -- I thought if I took a walk that maybe it would jog my memory.
Mary: Did it?
Nikolas: Oh, I saw -- I saw the aftermath of a -- a car wreck, and I don't know.
Nikolas: I don't know, it affected me somehow, I don't know.
Mary: Well, that makes sense. You were in Iraq. I -- well, you must have seen wrecked cars all the time. It must have brought back a war memory. Did you see anything else?
Nikolas: I walked to the edge of the river. It seemed -- I don't know, it seemed familiar to me.
Mary: That doesn't surprise me, either. We used to stroll along that river in the moonlight.
Nikolas: And then there's this cross. Oh.
Mary: What about it?
Nikolas: Of all the things I've seen and heard, this has the most resonance. It's like -- it's like it's trying to tell me something or help me remember. It matters to me somehow. You know why?
Emily: I saw this reflecting off the moonlight and for a moment, I thought it was the cross that I gave Nikolas before he left.
Lucky: Emily, it's a piece of glass.
Emily: Not necessarily. Maybe it's a sign to keep looking. Nikolas was here, lucky, I can feel it. Maybe he didn't fall or stumble into the river and it just looks like he did.
Lucky: No, Emily. The river is where we found his jacket.
Emily: I know, but that does not mean that Nikolas is dead.
Lucky: Nikolas is my brother, Emily, and I love him, too. No one other than you wants him back more. I've got every man available doing everything they can possibly do, but there comes a time when you need to face reality.
Emily: All right -- no. Uh-uh, no, Lucky. No negative thoughts. Everyone thought Nikolas died in the fire -- you remember that? But we were wrong. Nikolas survived, Lucky, because that's what he does. He is strong and he is beautiful and in spite of his awful family, Nikolas loves me. He won't leave me. He would fight to live with everything that he has got.
Lucky: Shh. Emily, you've been through so much already. Why don't you just -- it's been enough to last a lifetime. Just stop and breathe, all right?
Emily: All right.
Lucky: You know what? I'm going to take you over to General Hospital so one of your parents can check you out.
Emily: No, no. Lucky, I'm going to keep looking for him.
Lucky: Emily, let me and my men do our job.
Emily: Ok, fine, Lucky. All this means is that I'm waiting somewhere else because Nikolas is coming home.
Faith: Oh, thank god. I wasn't sure you were going to show up.
Justus: Do you have any idea what time it is?
Faith: You never used to mind.
Justus: Things have changed between us and we both know it.
Faith: So, what, does that mean you're not going to get me out of this mess?
Justus: I'm not even sure. Since when did I become your attorney and exactly what mess are you talking about?
Faith: I have been busted for money laundering and I'm guilty as sin. So, are you my attorney now or are you going to run off and tattle to the D.A.?
Justus: Just tell me what happened.
Faith: I've been running money through the Haunted Star.
Justus: How long?
Faith: Since it opened, but I wasn't in it alone. Luke and Skye not only had full knowledge, they were charging me a hefty fee for the privilege.
Justus: Sounds like a lucrative deal all the way around.
Faith: Oh, yeah. Things were going very smoothly, except for Skye getting her panties in a twist every other day. I don't understand what went wrong unless Sonny and Jason found out and tipped off the cops.
Justus: Oh, oh, no, no, no. Sonny and Jason would've taken a cut or forced you out of it.
Faith: Good point. Could've killed me. Then I don't understand --
Skye: Nice work, Faith. Are you happy now that you've completely ruined things for me and Luke?
Sam: You're just imagining drama where it does not exist.
Luke: Really? I don't usually do that.
Sam: Really? Well, I was just passing through.
Luke: You were just passing through and you just happened to hide behind that wall over there. Let me see what I already know -- a couple of muscleheads are here, doing some kind of payoff, and you're hiding, listening in.
Sam: Ok. Ok, you're right. And you know what? If you hadn't butted in, I would've found out why I was risking my neck.
Luke: Hold it there. I saved your neck. This dude was about two seconds from finding you. So if anybody's neck got risked here, it was mine for protecting you. The least you can do is tell me why I did it.
Sam: I can't tell you that. Come on, it's personal. I can't.
Luke: So it has to do with, what, a man? So Sonny happens to be your current squeeze --
Luke: I think.
Sam: No. Can you please just leave Sonny out of this?
Luke: I don't think so.
Carly: I knew you were cruel, but you have outdone yourself this time.
Sonny: I did?
Carly: You could've taken Sam anywhere in the world. You could've taken her to Monte Carlo, Fiji, Paris, but you chose our island.
Sonny: It's my island. I get to do what I want on my island.
Carly: Well, on your island, did you go stand on the terrace where we used to stand, having the night air breeze over you? Did you swim naked on the same beach? Did you make love to her in our bed?
Sonny: What the hell does it matter to you what I do with Sam? You going to tell me you don't turn yourself out to this freak a dozen times a day?
Lorenzo: Shut up, Corinthos! That's enough.
Luke: Let me bring you up to date on some ancient history, my darling. Sonny and I have been friends and business partners. I know quite a bit about the man.
Sam: Such as?
Luke: Well, such as he doesn't take -- take well to his woman going behind his back, meddling in his business, which is, you know, why I'm pretty sure he wouldn't want you here.
Sam: Is that a threat?
Luke: I don't know. Tell me what you know and I'll decide.
Sam: Ok, fine. That really weird, creepy-looking guy who you were just yelling at -- he is a hired assassin and he put the bomb in Sonny's limo that blew it up.
Luke: You're sure about that?
Sam: Yeah, I'm positive. I was there. And the trouble is he saw me. Now he wants to kill me.
Luke: So why are you following him into deserted ...
Sam: Because Sonny wanted to find out who he was working for and I saw him lurking around the hospital, so I decided to follow him and, I don't know, maybe get some information.
Luke: Did you have any luck?
Sam: Well, the only thing I did manage to get was he is working for a he, another man. His boss is a guy. Why does any of this matter to you?
Luke: It's a bargaining chip, baby.
Sam: A bargaining chip?
Luke: Yeah -- information Sonny wants in exchange for something I want. So, in answer to your question, yeah, this is a threat.
Sam: Luke, please, you can't tell him that I was following that guy, please.
Luke: Darling, that train left Pennsylvania station on track 29. I'm sorry, Sonny's going to have to know. The question is, are you going to tell him or am I? Shall we invite him down here or should we go visit him?
Sonny: Ok, come on. Here comes Carly's hero. What are you going to do with that cane? Are you going to hit me in the head with it? If you weren't blind, I'd rip you apart!
Carly: Do not let him bait you. It is not worth it.
Lorenzo: No, no, I intend to have my say.
Sonny: Yeah, let him talk. He'll dig himself a hole he can't get out of.
Lorenzo: That's your M.O., Corinthos, not mine. You may be furious with Carly, but it's not because of Morgan. He's fine. What's eating at you is that Carly is with me, that she wasn't paralyzed by leaving you. She was able to go on with her life, but you can't admit that, not even to yourself. So instead you accuse Carly of being a bad mother because it's the only way you can strike back.
Sonny: You are lucky you can't see because I would come over there right now --
Carly: Sonny, you stop it!
Sonny: Hey, what's up?
Sam: I just wanted to know if you could meet me down at the jetty docks?
Sonny: What are you doing there?
Sam: Well, I have some information on the bomber.
Justus: Faith tells me that you and Luke were aware the casino was being used for money laundering.
Skye: Aware, yes. But it's not like Luke and I exactly sat down and hammered out an agreement with Faith. We basically stumbled on what she was doing and at that point, the casino had already been compromised, and since Faith was threatening us, we thought it expedient to humor her.
Justus: As equal partners in the casino, you, Luke, and faith are equally responsible for what goes on there.
Skye: I told you this would happen.
Faith: Would you go see if there's anything you can do and just remember who called you?
Justus: Try to be nice to one another.
Skye: You know, I could strangle you for this.
Faith: Hmm. Go ahead. Try it -- I dare you.
Skye: Instead, I'm going to get the charges dropped.
Faith: I'm sorry -- what did you say?
Skye: Of course, I would expect something in return.
Faith: Oh, gee, imagine that.
Skye: Are you interested?
Faith: I'm still listening, aren't I?
Skye: If I make the money-laundering charges go away, you do the same, do you hear me? You leave Port Charles, you leave Luke, and you never come back.
Mary: We were one in a billion. It was love at first sight, and it was -- it was smooth sailing from there. Before the war, we were so blessed. We had no obstacles, nothing to stand in our way. And then you were called to Iraq. I thought I was prepared, but I was terrified. You'd been my life for so long, I couldn't imagine it without you. Anyway, my grandmother gave me that cross when I was a little girl. I wanted a piece of me you could take with you overseas, something you could wear and touch.
Nikolas: Something about that sounds right.
Mary: I told you that whenever you felt the cross over your heart, you knew I was thinking about you. Not that I ever stopped thinking about you. You were in my heart all day, every day. No matter what I was doing, I kept you with me.
Nikolas: Tell me about our wedding.
Mary: May 7, 1998 -- the happiest day of my life. To call our ceremony small would be kind. It was just you and me, a minister, and Katie -- my best friend. She took the pictures.
Nikolas: Were we married in a chapel?
Mary: "Chapel" sounds too fancy. It was a little country church. We couldn't afford anything bigger, and my dress was secondhand but, oh, it was beautiful. Moving in it felt like floating, but that was probably just the way you were looking at me.
Nikolas: What else?
Mary: You looked really handsome in your uniform.
Nikolas: My uniform?
Mary: You enlisted right out of high school, and you promised you would come back and marry me. You did. Our wedding was small but perfect. Oh, you bought me the most beautiful bouquet -- it was white freesia and orchids, the most heavenly smell, my favorite scent ever. And what else? Well, we both forgot our vows and -- and the rings got mixed up, and on the way out of the church, I tripped on my hem and tore it. It was perfect.
Nikolas: It sounds like it was.
Nikolas: May I see the photos? Maybe seeing us together on our wedding day will -- will make it come alive for me.
Faith: Poor Skye! She's fallen off the wagon again.
Skye: No, but I haven't ruled out a celebratory binge once I'm rid of you.
Faith: Why do you care so much if I'm around or not, huh? I mean -- oh, oh, wait a minute. It was you, wasn't it? You -- you tipped off the cops. That's how they so conveniently happened to be at the casino, but that was not your most brilliant move, my dear, since you're going down with me.
Ric: Hello, ladies.
Faith: Before you start, I wasn't in this alone.
Ric: Oh, I'm quite aware of all of the facts, faith.
Faith: Oh. I see. I've underestimated you. You've made a deal with our crooked D.A., Haven't you? Immunity, for you and Luke, in exchange for the knife in my back.
Ric: Give the lady a prize.
Skye: How about a one-way ticket to prison?
Sonny: Ok, let me -- let me try and get this straight here. You followed the man who has you first on his hit list. Why?
Sam: Because I thought I could get information --
Sam: And I did.
Sam: The man who paid off the assassin, he referred to his boss as a he.
Luke: And that's where I came in.
Sonny: Why'd you stick around?
Luke: Well, because if the guy who bombed your limo was a he, then Faith Rosco's off the hook, right?
Sonny: Well, for now, maybe, but there's always a next time and a next time. Look, as a friend, Luke, I'm going to take her down. I don't want to see you get caught in the crossfire.
Luke: Fair enough. Understood.
Sam: Go ahead. Come on. Let me have it.
Sonny: What the hell were you thinking? You want to get yourself killed?
Carly: I really appreciate what you did.
Lorenzo: I love you, Carly. I'm not going to let anyone speak to you like that.
Carly: Yeah, Sonny and I are trying to figure this out and we just keep justifying everything that we do.
Lorenzo: How can you defend the indefensible? The man goes out of his way to be hurtful and abusive.
Carly: I don't know what else I'm supposed to do, Lorenzo.
Lorenzo: You're supposed to hit back, where it'll do the most damage. Try to barge in.
Carly: Ok, whatever you are thinking, please stop.
Lorenzo: There you go. Your first instinct always is to protect Sonny.
Carly: I'm trying to protect you -- us.
Carly: Lorenzo, everyone that I love disapproves. They think that I'm fooling myself when I tell them that you are not a threat to Sonny, that you are not going to attack him again. Please. Please don't go after him again. Please don't do that on my behalf.
Lorenzo: You've misunderstood. My idea involves action on your part, not mine.
Carly: What is it?
Lorenzo: Michael and Morgan are legally yours. The decision is final. So you tell Sonny that if he doesn't treat you with the respect you deserve as the mother of those children, then he doesn't get to see them again.
Sonny: I take you into my home for your own protection, and what do you do? You chase after the guy I'm trying to protect you from. Why didn't you tell me that you spotted him?
Sam: Because you were in a panic over your little boy and I wasn't going to pull you away from that.
Sonny: Yeah, but you could've said something to Jason. He was right there.
Sam: I didn't even know if this was the guy. Sonny, I wanted to get a better look. I wasn't sure.
Sonny: Ok, so you tailed him into a place that's isolated, where he could take you out, with no witnesses. What the hell were you thinking?
Sam: No, no, no. Hold on a second. I am not some helpless female that you dress up, take to fancy places, then send to her room so you can go after the bad guys. I didn't purposely go out looking for trouble, Sonny. An opportunity came by, I grabbed it, it worked out. Now, this would be a really good time for you to say "thank you for this really great piece of information, Sam. You just ruled out half the population as suspects!"
Sonny: I would do that, but I don't want to encourage you.
Sam: I don't want to fight with you --
Sam: Or whatever this is. I don't want to do it. I totally heard what you're saying, and I promise you I will -- I'll be more careful in the future.
Sonny: Well, that was kind of half-hearted.
Sam: Hey, it's the best I can do right now.
Sonny: Well, can you maybe aim for a little higher because I don't want my men to have to -- you know, have to scrape you off the pier.
Sam: Why? Because it's a terrible job or would you miss me a little?
Sonny: I don't know, maybe a little.
Sonny: I don't know.
Sam: Now I'm going to ask you a question.
Sam: I think I already know the answer -- I'm going to ask it anyway.
Sonny: Yeah. Ok.
Sam: Who do you think hired the bomber?
Sam: Carly's not going to believe it.
Sonny: Well, Carly -- she won't listen to anything I have to say these days, but that's not your problem, so -- I've got someplace I got to be and I don't trust that you're going to be able to stay out of trouble, so you're coming with me. Come on.
Sonny: You'll find out when we get there.
Mary: I'm sorry. There aren't any pictures of our wedding.
Nikolas: You just -- you just said your friend took --
Mary: There was a fire, a terrible fire. We lost everything except each other -- all of our photographs, our keepsakes, things that represented our memories. That's why I was so freaked out when you were called to Iraq. All of a sudden, there was no evidence of us. You were gone and all of our things -- you promised we'd make new memories. I was so afraid that we'd never get a chance.
Nikolas: Kind of ironic since new memories are all I can give you. What kinds of things did we like to do?
Mary: Be together. We never went out unless we had to, and whenever you got leave, we'd -- we'd come up here. In the summertime, we'd take a blanket out on the porch and we'd make love and fall asleep under the stars. And when it was cold out, we'd grab a bunch of books and we'd curl up by the fireplace and -- and we'd read out loud to each other the news, a poem, passages from a novel.
Nikolas: Well, what you're describing is so beautiful. Why are you crying?
Mary: Tears of joy. I was so alone here for so long and now you're back. Oh. You must be starving. Let me heat up the pot roast.
Nikolas: No. No, I'm not hungry.
Mary: I'll make us some tea, then.
Mary: Don't go away again.
Nikolas: I'll be right here.
Faith: You underhanded little witch! Are you so lacking as a woman that the only way you can compete with me for Luke is to put me behind bars?
Skye: Please, I'm not afraid of Luke sleeping with you.
Faith: Oh, once more with conviction!
Skye: Conviction is what I'm concerned about. I don't want Luke going to prison because of you.
Ric: Look, Faith, you can't blame Skye for your situation. You are the one who broke the law here.
Faith: Oh, my. Oh, oh -- spare me the Dudley Do-right routine, would you? It's a little hard to take coming from you.
Ric: Whatever my past mistakes, I am on this side of the table now.
Faith: Oh, well, you won't be so smug when you realize whom you're dealing with. See, Skye has already double-crossed you. She offered to have the charges dropped if I agree to leave town.
Skye: As long as she goes, I don't care much how it happens.
Faith: By the way, have either of you factored in Luke's reaction when he finds out about this?
Luke: Finds out about what?
Skye: Luke. What are you doing here?
Luke: I'm looking for her. One of your goons told me you'd been arrested.
Faith: Mm-hmm. Did he tell you why?
Skye: Why are you looking for her?
Luke: I talked to Corinthos. You can go ahead and renew your magazine subscriptions.
Faith: Oh, good. I'll need them in prison.
Luke: What's going on?
Ric: Well, Faith got cocky and careless. She was laundering money through your casino.
Faith: Oh, careless, hell! I was set up! Three guesses by whom.
Luke: Are you saying that my partner and I are also arrested?
Ric: No, a deal has been accepted.
Luke: Oh, a deal? I see. Well, you don't have a deal with me, Mr. D.A. I don't do business with blinders on. I know what comes in and out of my casino -- at least most of the time. So, if you're going to arrest Ms. Rosco, you might as well put the cuffs on me, too.
Mary: Here we go. Orange spice with two sugars and a splash of milk.
Nikolas: Thank you.
Nikolas: I don't like it.
Mary: Well, that is strange. I've been thinking. Once you're well enough to travel, I think we should move. There's nothing left for us here but one-sided memories, and we could get another little place in the country, make a whole new start.
Nikolas: Absolutely not.
Carly: He seems to be doing ok now. I was so worried about him. Listen, I don't think I can use Michael and Morgan against Sonny and keep him from seeing them.
Lorenzo: Sonny didn't have any qualms about it when he slammed the door in your face the first time you went to see your children. Isn't that the reason you took him to court? So what's changed, Carly?
Carly: Listen, I can't deal with any more pressure right now, I can't.
Lorenzo: There's none intended. I simply made a suggestion to empower you.
Carly: So, what, are you angry now?
Lorenzo: No. I'm fine. I'm just tired. Better head home. I love you.
Carly: Careful. Oh, god. What do you want?
Sam: A minute with you. It's about Sonny.
Emily: Dear god, I've made so many terrible mistakes. This whole nightmare got set into motion because of my weakness and my indecision. And Zander died because he loved me. Please, please, dear god, keep Nikolas safe so that we can have a second chance. And wherever he is, if you could please just send him a sign that I love him.
Nikolas: I want my memory back. And something tells me that could only happen here, where we -- where we shared the life that you've been telling me about.
Mary: It could take a long time.
Nikolas: I don't care.
Mary: Well, then neither do I. We'll stay right here.
Nikolas: Wait. It must be so strange for you. We were soul mates, two people who found love the first time out. It's like I was never there.
Mary: I know you were.
Nikolas: Oh, god. I must have loved you a lot to abandon my duty to get all the way back to you.
Mary: The man I married loved me more than anything in this world.
Nikolas: I know. Then I guess I'll have to learn to love you all over again. Kiss me. Kiss me.
Skye: What, are you crazy? We have Faith right where we want her.
Luke: I object to you using the word "we" in this instance. You never talked to me about setting her up.
Skye: So what? What, is your -- your sensitive little male ego insulted? I mean, look at the upside -- no more constant interference, no more dangling on the edge of the underworld.
Luke: I like dangling on the edge of the underworld. It suits my sensitive little male ego. Now, if you'd been paying attention, you'd know that. Stop trying to protect me from my life, stop trying to stop me from getting arrested. If I want to be arrested --
Skye: Oh, you big, stupid idiot! I didn't have Faith arrested to keep you out of prison. I did it to keep Faith away from you.
Faith: Well, looks like Luke just threw you and Skye a nasty curveball.
Ric: Well, what Luke wants doesn't matter. You're going to prison, with or without his cooperation.
Faith: Hmm. Well, this must be a dream come true for you, huh, Ric?
Ric: If you're trying to insinuate that this is some sort of payback between you and me, you're sadly mistaken.
Faith: No, no, of course not. Payback between us would have absolutely nothing to do with Sonny, and that's all you've ever been about. Hmm? I mean, really, what better way to rack up points with your big brother than to get me out of the way? Out of morbid curiosity --
Faith: Tell me -- what exactly are you expecting from Sonny in return?
Sam: Look, I am the reason that Sonny wasn't here with Morgan when he got sick. He told me about the island and -- and I begged him. I wouldn't stop until he agreed to take me.
Carly: Well, I pegged you for a much better liar. Sonny doesn't do anything that Sonny does not want to do. Yeah, that is right -- I know him better than you ever will. Would you like a little demonstration? You just -- this will be fun. You stop me when I'm wrong, ok? Sonny flew you to the retreat to protect you and then when you got to the island, he bought you a designer dress. He dressed you up, he -- he promised to take you gambling. How am I doing so far?
Sam: Batting 1,000.
Carly: Oh, fantastic. Then Sonny gave you enough chips to choke a horse, and amazingly, you were golden. You probably accused him of rigging the tables, he denied it because that is Sonny's game. He's not going to admit anything to you until he knows you better. And you loved it. You just lapped it up.
Sam: Well, what woman in her right mind wouldn't enjoy paradise with Sonny?
Sonny: Sam? You shouldn't be here.
On the next "General Hospital" --
Mary: What's wrong?
Nikolas: I can't hurt someone that I love.
Luke: You're jealous.
Skye: You can't handle me having feelings for you.
Faith: You're still all about Sonny.
Carly: Sam is a con artist and a prostitute, and I don't want her near my kids.
