Emily: Why aren't you home?
Elizabeth: I'd go crazy sitting at home by myself and Ric is supposed to meet me here.
Nikolas: What -- what happened?
Elizabeth: We're still waiting for the judge to sign off on Jasonís statement.
Emily: Then the case really isn't closed?
Elizabeth: Ric said that it's just a formality, but he was supposed to be here 20 minutes ago.
Nikolas: Well, you know what? Ric assured us that this would be over, Elizabeth.
Emily: It is. It will be.
Elizabeth: I -- I don't know, you guys. I mean, Luckyís not thrilled about this whole idea. What if he tells the judge that Jason lied on the statement, that Capelli really didn't kill Zander and I did?
Emily: No, Lucky would never do that.
Nikolas: He wants to protect you. That's what this whole thing is about.
Ric: Sorry it took so long.
Elizabeth: That's ok.
Ric: The judge got backed up in court.
Elizabeth: So -- well, is -- is everything ok? What?
Ric: The case is now truly, officially closed.
Nurse: There's no notation of your bandages being changed earlier.
Man: Two -- two hours ago. Painful. Not again.
Nurse: Of course not. I'll note your chart.
[Knock on door]
Alexis: Mr. Corinthos, isn't it true that you were locked in a closet and beaten by your stepfather when you were a small boy and that those beatings were so severe that you were left with lasting psychological damage --
Justus: Objection, your honor!
Alexis: Subject to mood swings that --
Justus: Your honor, objection!
Alexis: Complete nervous breakdowns?
Carly: Ok, stop it, Alexis! You leave him alone!
[Judge pounds gavel]
Judge: Order in this courtroom.
Carly: Make her stop.
Judge: Mrs. Corinthos, control yourself.
Carly: You need to control her.
Alexis: Your honor, I'm trying to cross-examine --
Carly: No, you know what? You are trying to destroy Sonny, and it's got absolutely nothing to do with the custody hearing. You got your own agenda here, Alexis.
Alexis: Your honor, I would like to apologize for my client. She is obviously too distraught to continue.
[Judge pounds gavel]
Carly: Like hell I am.
Justus: Your honor, in light of this egregious attack that has her own client on the verge of hysteria --
[Judge pounds gavel]
Justus: I'm requesting a mistrial!
Judge: Be quiet, or you're in contempt! Mrs. Corinthos, you seem to have a great deal to say.
Carly: Yeah, well, I just want these things to be fair.
Judge: That's what they pay me for. Mr. Corinthos, you may step down. Mrs. Corinthos, I'm recalling you to the witness stand.
Maxie: Are you awake?
Alan: Maxie -- come here for a second. Mac just had his bandages changed. He really needs to rest.
Maxie: But when we were visiting with him before, the nurse said he was doing a lot better.
Alan: He is. I've never seen anybody improve so quickly. But he's got a long way to go.
Maxie: When can I see him?
Alan: Give him a couple of hours. He really needs to sleep.
Ric: You see? You got yourself all upset over nothing.
Elizabeth: What I did isn't nothing.
Ric: No, what you allegedly did never happened, ok? There's no record of it at all. We can move on.
Emily: So the judge bought the whole story?
Ric: Yeah, well, why wouldn't he? I mean, Jason hates cops, he's been tied up with Sonny's custody trial, and he had every reason to not come forward until now.
Emily: What about the charges against Nikolas?
Ric: Those have been dropped, of course. The D.A.'s office released an official statement exonerating Nikolas Cassadine of any and all involvement with Zander Smith's murder.
Elizabeth: I am so grateful.
Ric: We can all forget about Zander Smith once and for all.
Emily: Won't you ever tell this child about its father?
Walker: Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help you God?
Judge: Before we begin, understand that I will tolerate no more outbursts in this courtroom.
Carly: I understand.
Judge: Accusing your own counsel of having a private agenda is a very serious charge.
Carly: Yeah, well, it's true.
Judge: What is the nature of this agenda?
Carly: She had an affair with my husband.
Judge: When was this?
Carly: A few years ago, while we were separated.
Alexis: Your honor, divorce papers had been filed.
Judge: Did you know about this affair when you retained Ms. Davis?
Carly: Yes, I did.
Judge: Why did you hire her?
Carly: Because she can win.
Judge: Didn't you realize this prior relationship might prove an issue?
Carly: This "relationship" was not a real relationship. It was a one-night stand and something that meant nothing to my husband and everything to Alexis because --
Alexis: Your honor, may I please speak?
Carly: It was a life-altering situation, and now she has a secret --
Alexis: Your honor, with all due respect, my personal life is not an issue in this proceeding.
Judge: Do you feel this secret affects the manner in which Ms. Davis is representing you?
Carly: Oh, yes, I do.
Judge: Then share it with this court.
Alexis: I object, your honor.
Judge: Overruled, Ms. Davis. Mrs. Corinthos, what is the secret?
Carly: Alexis is still in love with my husband.
Alexis: That is untrue, your honor.
Carly: No, it's very true, and it's exactly why she made up the lie about his nervous breakdowns.
Judge: Thank you, Mrs. Corinthos. If you'll remain seated for a moment. Were you involved with Mr. Corinthos?
Alexis: "Involved" is a gross overstatement, your honor.
Judge: Did you sleep with him?
Alexis: Once, your honor. It was a demonstration of bad judgment.
Judge: Are you still in love with Sonny Corinthos?
Alexis: No, your honor, I am not. Given the turn of events, I would like to ask your permission to withdraw from this case.
Judge: On what grounds?
Alexis: There are mitigating circumstances --
Judge: Of which you were well aware when you took the case.
Alexis: Upon further consideration, I think Mrs. Corinthos would be better represented with alternative counsel.
Judge: That would mean starting the hearing process all over again -- a considerable waste of the court's and everyone else's time. Mr. and Mrs. Corinthos, would you be willing to petition the court for a new hearing once Ms. Davis is replaced?
Sonny: You know what, your honor? I don't think either one of us wants to go through this again.
Carly: I don't think we want to put our children through that.
Judge: Let the record show that Mr. and Mrs. Corinthos finally agree on something. Let's get moving before they change their minds. Ms. Davis, do you have any more questions for your client?
Alexis: No, your honor.
Judge: Do you have any more witnesses, any other evidence?
Alexis: No, your honor.
Judge: Mr. Ward.
Justus: Nothing further, your honor, thank you.
Judge: Very well. We'll proceed to closing arguments, then I'll make my decision regarding the custody of Michael and Morgan Corinthos.
[Judge pounds gavel]
Georgie: So how long will Mac be asleep?
Alan: The longer, the better.
Maxie: But he is making progress?
Alan: All of his vitals show tremendous improvement.
Georgie: My mom says it's a miracle. Do you agree?
Alan: It is a miracle. You want to see his lab work?
Emily: Zander was reckless, but he was kind. He had a lot of good qualities.
Elizabeth: You always saw the best side of him.
Emily: I hope you can too, for the sake of your child.
Mike: So, what's the plan, guys? You going to solve all the problems of the world, or are you going to order something? I suggest the latter.
Ric: Yeah, we'll order something in a minute.
Mike: Ok, no problem.
Ric: So, would you guys like to stay, have some coffee or something with us?
Nikolas: Uh -- actually, we have somewhere we need to be, and we're running late. Let's go.
Elizabeth: You're the best.
Emily: That was very smooth.
Nikolas: Yes, I thought so, too.
Emily: Where are we supposed to be?
Nikolas: Anywhere but with Ric Lansing.
Emily: Ah, yes, good plan.
Nikolas: Oh, hello, Grandmother.
Helena: Nikolas, you don't have time for this idle nonsense. Your destiny is calling.
Justus: Alexis Davis got one thing right -- Sonny Corinthos knows what it means to grow up without a real father, what it means to have no heroes, no one to set boundaries, no one to toss a baseball in the park with. He's felt the pain of a walk away father, that empty place inside that no amount of money, love, or power can fill. That's why my client wants to be a full-time father. Sonny wants the opportunity to teach his boys how to be good men; honest men from a good home; the kind of home he could only dream of. In this world of absentee fathers, my client simply wants the opportunity to bring up his boys. That's not asking too much. Please, don't turn Sonny's children into fatherless boys.
Alexis: "Please don't turn Sonny's children into fatherless boys" is a touching sentiment. I appreciate that, but I prefer the facts. The facts are, your honor, that if Mrs. Corinthos were to get sole custody of the children, her children wouldn't be fatherless. They would be safer. They would only be fatherless if something were to happen to Mr. Corinthos. For instance, if he were to be gunned down leaving this courtroom -- which is not out of the realm of possibility because he was gunned down on the stairs of the police station a few years ago. I was there. I'm the one that walked away covered with his blood. He was shot in the chest. Now, what if he were holding Michael and Morgan at the time? He already lost one child to his life of violence when his first wife who was pregnant exploded in a car bomb that was meant for him. This safe life, this safe home that he imagines for his children simply doesn't exist, your honor. You have heard testimony of a woman who was shot in the bathroom of his apartment. You've heard testimony of a bomb that went off in his living room. You've heard testimony that his children have bodyguards and that they live in a bulletproof house. This is unacceptable for children's lives to be put into this kind of danger simply because he has chosen a life of crime. As horrible as his childhood was, it is not ok to make his children pay the price for what his father did to him. I am asking you, the court, not to condemn Michael and Morgan, who are innocent in all this, to a life of bulletproof glass, bodyguards, violence, and death. I am asking you to protect these children and to put them into the sole custody of Mrs. Carly Corinthos. Thank you.
Judge: Thank you for all your hard work in this difficult case. I'll consider your arguments and contact counsel when Iíve made my decision. Court is adjourned.
[Judge pounds gavel]
Alexis: I did my part, and you undercut me at every turn. Win or lose, you can drop dead. As far as any deal we made about Kristina, it's off.
Carly: Oh, right, because you say it is? Because you got upset? Nothing has changed, Alexis. If I lose this case, I will tell Sonny that he is Kristinaís father.
Felicia: Alan? Mac's not in his room.
Alan: Maybe they took him downstairs for tests.
Felicia: Somebody left pillows in his bed. He could be out of the building by now.
Nurse: He was transferred last night.
Second nurse: His paperwork is missing, and there's no wallet, no I.D., nothing. We're listing him as a John Doe.
[TV turns on]
TV announcer: Nikolas Cassadine, heir to the vast Cassadine fortune, has been cleared of all charges in the murder of Zander Smith. An unnamed witness has identified Andrew Capelli as the killer. Capelli, a PCPD police detective --
[Knock on door]
Woman: Wally? Are you home? It's Enid.
Enid: Are you there?
Nikolas: What do you want, grandmother? Why are you following me around?
Helena: I understand that you've been cleared of that ridiculous murder.
Emily: What -- it's on the news already?
Helena: Unfortunately. You know, I would prefer, my darling, if you stayed out of the public eye.
Emily: Don't -- don't you even care that Nikolas has been exonerated?
Helena: Well, there was never any question that he would be.
Nikolas: What do you want?
Helena: I have sold the treasure on the open market.
Nikolas: The -- the treasure?
Helena: Yes. An obliging if somewhat under funded petty criminal found that treasure in a dumpster outside the hotel. Hmm. Well, he turned it over to me for a negligible fee --
Helena: And I immediately sold it for auction in Europe.
Nikolas: Oh, I'm sure you turned a profit.
Helena: I've already deposited 25 million to the main Swiss account. You can draw on it at any time.
Emily: I knew you'd end up with all the money.
Nikolas: Why thank you, grandmother. Thank you.
Helena: Oh, Nikolas. Nikolas, I have made you the prince again. It's a -- it's a tremendous moment, an important moment, an historic moment that we should not waste outside a place like this. We should be in the city. No, I should fly us to Paris where we can enjoy a real celebration.
Nikolas: I'm afraid that that's impossible. You see -- see, I'm putting half of the money in a trust for the fire victims and their families. The other half will be split with the Quartermaines.
Helena: You'll do nothing of the sort.
Nikolas: You just gave me back the power. That means my decisions are not up for debate.
Helena: The Quartermaines do not deserve that money.
Nikolas: We would've never found the treasure if not for the Quartermaines and besides, I owe them, anyway.
Helena: For what?
Nikolas: For giving me their daughter, the woman I'm going to marry.
Helena: Nikolas, I will send all of that cash to the bottom of the harbor before I allow you to give it away.
Nikolas: I'd think before you cross me.
Nikolas: Love her.
Emily: Will she really take all the money back?
Nikolas: Oh, I don't care. I won't let her or anything come between us, and I'm going to prove it to you. Let's go.
Elizabeth: Can't have another bite, though.
Ric: Ok, why don't we call it a day. We'll pick up some dinner on the way home, curl up in front of the fire.
Elizabeth: Sounds perfect, but I just need to take care of one thing first.
Ric: I've already taken care of everything.
Elizabeth: I need to thank Jason for signing that statement.
Courtney: Jason, you gave me your word that you wouldn't go after Faith.
Jason: I never agreed that I wouldn't speak to her.
Courtney: Just wait until after the --
Jason: Faith -- you got a problem, you come to me. You leave Courtney alone.
Faith: I was just joking around, ok? If Iíd actually wanted to shoot her, you know there'd be a big mess to clean up, so -- to get her attention a little. You have no sense of humor at all, do you, bunny?
Jason: You have no time left. Once the hearing is over, the judge is going to make his decision. Once he does, there's no reason to keep peace with you.
Justus: The next time you're in the mood for a one-night stand, make sure it isn't a trial attorney.
Alexis: If you tell Sonny that Kristina is his daughter, you will destroy her life.
Carly: Well, relax. We haven't lost yet.
Alexis: You blackmailed me. You undercut me at every turn. You have sabotaged your own case.
Carly: Listen, I didn't want to use the breakdowns. They were a last resort, and when I denied it, why didn't you leave it alone?
Alexis: Because it was the best way to win, which is what you wanted.
Carly: Well, in a way you did me a favor, because Sonny really hates you now, and he will go after Kristina the second he finds out the truth.
Alexis: Why does ruining my life and ruining Kristinaís life help you?
Carly: Why -- why don't you understand this? If Sonny is furious with you, then I have a better chance.
Sonny: Hey Carly, I'm heading home to see the boys. I was just wondering if you wanted to come.
Carly: I -- Iíd love to go home with you and see the boys.
Sonny: Yeah, Michael would like it.
Carly: I know this hearing has to have been hard on him.
Sonny: Yeah, yeah. You know, you can -- I don't know -- give Morgan a bath, rock him to sleep.
Carly: That sounds great.
Sonny: All right.
Faith: Isn't that sweet -- temporary ceasefire. Too bad that judge isn't around.
Courtney: Stay out of this, Faith.
Faith: Well, it's the little things that mean so much in family court -- you know, bath time for baby, gunfights on the dock.
Courtney: Hey -- the hearing isn't over yet.
Lorenzo: You better win this decision.
Alexis: What do you want?
Lorenzo: Is Corinthos really emotionally ill?
Alexis: I'm not going to discuss this with you.
Lorenzo: So he had those breakdowns? I'll take that as a yes.
Elizabeth: Jason -- hey. Can I speak to you for a minute?
Jason: Yeah, sure.
Emily: It's beautiful.
Nikolas: Yes, I think so, too.
Emily: How'd you find this place?
Nikolas: Oh, the country house is just a couple of miles from here. When I was out on a ride one afternoon, I heard some voices and music, so I turned down the road and found this church. There were some people milling around a little bit, a three-piece band was playing, and then -- poof -- bride and groom come flying out of the church. The bride -- she was laughing and she -- she throws her arm around the groom and -- and I don't know, but for some reason, she reminded me of you. It was a couple of years ago -- I was dating Gia and you were in Colorado. It just -- just flashed across my mind what a beautiful bride you would be. What your face would look like -- full of love like that. And I remember I had just this -- just an ounce of regret that that love wouldn't be for me.
Emily: All of my love is for you.
Nikolas: And I am so blessed that it is. And that's why I want to marry you, Emily, right now, tonight.
Carly: It'll be good to see the boys.
Carly: Thanks -- for the invitation, I mean.
Sonny: Oh, you're welcome.
Carly: All right, you've been hanging around Jason too long. You used to speak in sentences. You used to speak. You really think Michaelís ok?
Sonny: He tries to fix everything.
Carly: Yeah, he's the little peacekeeper.
Sonny: He takes, you know, too much on himself.
Carly: Oh. Let me see if I can figure out where he gets that from.
Sonny: You know, if it wasn't for you, I wouldn't be a father. I just want you to know that whatever happens with all this, I'll always be grateful to you for my sons.
Nikolas: Listen -- I know you want a formal wedding, but --
Emily: I thought you did.
Nikolas: Yeah, you know -- well, maybe "want" is -- is too strong of a word. I mean, I feel -- I feel obligated, you know, to demonstrate to the -- to our families and to the rest of the world that you are my life. But, you see, that's about duty and tradition and about making other people happy, and it has nothing to do with love. And love -- that's what I feel for you. I am so in love with you. I believe -- I believe that our vows should be just between you and me and -- and God.
Emily: And God's here tonight.
Nikolas: Yes. Do -- do I get to see you walk down the aisle to me?
Emily: You have no idea how many times Iíve dreamed of doing just that.
Nikolas: Come on. Oh, wait.
Nikolas: Ok. We're gathered here tonight in the presence of you, God, to pledge our hearts and our lives to each other. I don't know if there's a divine plan, if we were always meant to be together, if she's the other half of my soul and the time we spent apart was so I could just recognize that I was incomplete without her. I don't know. Maybe it's all just random chance, an accident that put us together and brought us here. And if that's true, God, thank you for every choice that we've made that led us to each other tonight. I ask you, God, to keep this moment, this moment right now alive in my heart and to never take away the love that I feel for this woman. I ask that you give me -- you give me strength and courage and patience and forgiveness to be the husband that -- that she deserves.
Emily: I want to -- I want to thank you, God, for the miracle of your love and for the time that you gave me and Nikolas together and for the years you gave me to grow up and realize that -- that he was more than a handsome man that was out of my reach. And he's the man I want to build my life around. I want to stand by his side every day that we live. And I ask you, dear God, to please, please help me to love him the way he deserves to be loved -- with patience and understanding and passion. And I pray that I will never lose sight of how blessed I am to be his wife.
Elizabeth: I know how difficult it was for you to sign that statement full of lies, and I just want to say thank you for doing it for me and this baby.
Jason: Well, you both deserve a chance.
Elizabeth: Well, I also know that you don't -- you're not all that fond of Ric and you don't trust him, but you did it anyway, and I will always be just so --
Jason: Are you ok?
Elizabeth: Yeah, give me your hand. Do you feel that? Do you feel it?
Elizabeth: The baby's kicking.
Alexis: I assume you're footing the bill for this, so I suggest you brace yourself. Making a fool out of me is very expensive.
Lorenzo: Why did you take this case?
Alexis: Truthfully, because I don't think Sonny Corinthos should be within 50 feet of a child.
Sonny: You all right?
Carly: Yeah, I'm fine. What happened? Max, are you ok?
Max: Yeah, the steering went out. I don't think it's serious, but I'll send for another car.
Sonny: All right. Send for another car. We'll -- we'll wait here. Shouldn't take too long.
Carly: Yeah. What do you think the judge is doing right now? I mean, do you have any idea how long it'll take for him to decide?
Sonny: I have no idea.
Carly: You don't think he's going to choose foster care, do you?
Sonny: No, I don't think we trashed each other that bad. Why did you save me on the stand today? Why did you shut down Alexis?
Elizabeth: Hey, Lucky. Hi, baby. Sorry that took so long.
Ric: Hi. How'd it go?
Elizabeth: Jason was gracious, like I knew he would be.
Elizabeth: Well, you know, gracious in his own way.
Ric: Mm-hmm. You're a remarkable woman, Elizabeth. I doubt that there is anybody on this earth who Jason and I would cooperate for.
Lucky: Oh thanks.
Mike: Is everything all right?
Lucky: Yeah. Just funny how everything turns out, isn't it?
Mike: Well, you know, if I ran the world, you'd be with her.
Mike: Yeah, but I don't run the world, so all we can do is hope for the best, ok? Take care.
Lucky: You, too.
Enid: Oh, officer? Do you have a second?
Lucky: Sure. What can I do for you?
Enid: How would I file a missing person's report?
Felicia: Mac could've made arrangements to leave. He's in pain, he's running out of money, and he might've felt a burden to us.
Maxie: Come on, mom. Who's going to drag Mac out of here?
Georgie: Mom, Mac would never leave us.
Alan: Felicia, can I have a word with you, please?
Felicia: Uh -- yeah. Um -- why don't you girls go over to the desk and write down every place you think Mac could be, and then we'll talk, ok?
Alan: He's not in the building. Do you want me to call the police?
Felicia: No, I'll find him.
Alan: Listen to me. He is at high risk for infection. If we don't get him into a sterile environment, his chances are not good.
Nurse: Hey. You're at Mercy Hospital. I just gave you something for the pain. I'll go as easy as I can.
Nikolas: I, Nikolas, take thee, Emily, to be my wife. I promise to give you the best of myself. I promise that Iíll be the best father I can be to your children. I promise to keep your secrets and share your burdens, and I promise to -- to stand by your side no matter what challenges we face. I promise to trust you and believe in you, and I promise that I will love you forever. I give you this ring as a symbol of my love and faith.
Emily: I, Emily, take thee, Nikolas, to be my husband. I promise to have your children and support you through bad times and good. I promise to believe in you and trust you with all of my secrets and my hopes and my fears, and I promise -- I promise to love you forever. And I don't have a ring to give you, so --
Emily: So I give you -- I give you my heart instead.
Nikolas: Ok. I -- well, I now pronounce us husband and wife.
Emily: Yes. You may kiss the bride.
Courtney: I saw the way you looked when you felt Elizabethís baby kicking. That's the way I thought you'd look when I was pregnant.
Max: Hey. The steering in the limo went out. Nobody's hurt. Sonny and Carly are waiting for another car right now.
Jason: Where are they?
Max: In the back seat.
Jason: Ok. Did you call for the other car?
Jason: Donít. I'll take care of it.
Jason: There's no hurry.
Sonny: If you'd let Alexis keep pushing me, you'd have custody of the kids right now. Why'd you stop her?
Carly: Because she was being cruel and unfair.
Sonny: Isn't that what you wanted?
Carly: Look, Sonny, you were being a jerk about our kids, and you've treated me horribly, and I don't know if I'm ever going to forgive you for that. But it's not your fault. And you are not to blame for what your stepfather did to you. It's not your fault for what happens because of it. You know, I really -- I think the breakdowns -- they're a part of a sickness and you should --
Sonny: Listen, I don't want to get into talking about things --
Carly: Ok, that's fine. I just -- you know what? You really need to know that the breakdowns are not your fault. And I'm not letting anyone punish you for it, especially not Alexis Davis in open court.
Sonny: Why'd you hire her?
Carly: Because she wins. I said that in court. Weren't you listening?
Sonny: Why did she take the case?
Carly: She needs the money.
Sonny: That stunt Alexis pulled in court has nothing to do with money. Why is Alexis so desperate?
>> On the next "General Hospital" --
Luke: I'm here to take you home, Edward.
Tracy: You're about to vote me as C.E.O.
Lorenzo: Sonny set this up, didn't he?
Jason: Sonny and Carly are fine. Just leave them alone.
Sonny: She was going after me like I want to take away her kid.
Nikolas: Nothing can ever separate us now.
