Zander's voice: "Lansing -- by the time you get this, Elizabeth will have killed me. I think she should pay for that, don't you?"

Ric: Oh --

Elizabeth: I didn't mean --

[Ric chuckles]

Elizabeth: Are you ok?

Ric: Yeah.

Elizabeth: I didn't mean to startle you.

Ric: Yeah, I'm ok. You got my heart started again. But then, what else is new?

Elizabeth: You seemed awfully far away. Does it have anything to do with whatever you're reading?

Justus: You know, our clients can't seem to be too rational, but that doesn't mean a couple of professionals can't pick up the slack.

Alexis: What do you have in mind?

Justus: Sonny and Carly are too emotionally involved. If they're not careful, they could emote those boys straight into foster care. I don't want to see that happen. And I'm sure as a mother you're not crazy about the idea, either.

Alexis: I care very much about what happens to those children. I would certainly like to see another option.

Justus: I may have a way to mitigate some of the potential damages. I'd be willing to drop some of the most damaging information I have on Carly, if you'll agree to do the same for sonny.

Alexis: My client has made it very clear she wants to win custody, and she's determined to do whatever it takes. Welcome to the sewer, counselor.

Sonny: Michael?

Sonny: What are you doing?

Sonny: You're not going to say bye before I head off to court?

Michael: What happens at a custody hearing?

Sonny: Um -- the judge asks people who know me and your mother which one of us you and Morgan should live with.

Michael: Are you going to make mommy cry?

Carly: Oh -- oh, I am so, so, so glad to see you.

Lorenzo: That's what I like to hear.

Carly: Ok, I --

Lorenzo: What happened? A tornado blow through your closet?

Carly: No, just tornado Carly. Look, I don't have the slightest idea what to wear. I mean, do I go with a power suit or -- or a frumpy housedress?

Lorenzo: You own a frumpy housedress?

Carly: I don't know, maybe I should go with something maternal and -- and cuddly like -- cashmere?

Lorenzo: I think you'll look great, whatever you wear.

Carly: Ok, I don't want to look great. I want to look appropriate and capable. I want to be a paragon of motherhood.

Lorenzo: All right, you are as nervous as a cat.

Carly: Oh, really, does it show?

Lorenzo: It's only natural. But in this instance, there's no need.

Carly: How do you know?

Lorenzo: I just do.

Carly: Ok, Lorenzo, what have you done that I don't know about?

Dillon: Hey.

Georgie: Dillon. Hi.

Dillon: I brought you one of those lemon poppy-seed muffins you're so crazy about. I figured you probably haven't been eating very much.

Georgie: How sweet. Thank you very much.

Dillon: How's Mac?

Georgie: Holding his own. I think my mom being back is really going to help.

Dillon: Yeah, I know. You must be stoked about that. I mean, I know how much you missed her.

Georgie: It's the little things, you know, like seeing her purse and car keys on the table and -- I'm really sorry. Can you just slap me when I do that?

Dillon: Do what?

Georgie: The way I am going on and on about how awesome it is to have my mom back when your grandfather is missing and not even in his right mind. You must be so worried.

Tracy: You're right, Georgie. The whole family is terribly worried about daddy. Aren't we, sweetheart?

Skye: Oh, god -- what are you doing?

Luke: Oh -- I was putting it up. I wasn't putting it down.

Skye: Yeah, right. Well, you know what? Here.

Luke: Although, I could be persuaded --

Skye: Hold that up, would you?

Luke: Hold it up?

Skye: Higher. Now, give me my robe.

Luke: Oh, I -- I'm sorry. I -- I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable. I thought maybe you were cold or, you know --

Skye: Yeah.

Luke: I -- really --

Skye: Ok, ok, you can take it down now.

Luke: Sorry, I apologize. I -- sorry.

Skye: Oh, my god, Edward. I should go check on him.

Luke: No, no, I already checked on him. He's in there snoring away. Look, when I went to the spare room last night, I had no idea that you were going to be the one ending up on the couch. I would've been happy to sleep here.

Skye: No, it's just -- it's better this way, ok?

Luke: No, it's not better. It's better for him, but you shouldn't have to sleep on the couch.

Skye: Luke, the man is recovering from a heart attack.

Luke: Blaze, what he's doing is manipulating you, and he's going to continue to manipulate you. He's leading you on. He's going to break your heart. He's going to reject you -- all the same old stuff. You're just going to be in pain.

Skye: Careful not to fall off your soapbox. Coffee! I need some coffee.

Ric: I was just going over a transcript of a witness statement in a very unpleasant case.

Elizabeth: Oh.

Ric: How -- how are you? You were -- you were up and down a lot last night.

Elizabeth: Oh, god. Yeah, just, you know, pregnancy-related insomnia. It'll pass.

[Elizabeth giggles]

Ric: Why do I think it's more than that?

Elizabeth: You tell me.

Ric: Well, I'm sure you were still upset about the way your friends ambushed me about Zander's murder.

Elizabeth: Oh, come on, they tried to get you to confess to a murder you didn't -- I mean, my very best friends are accusing you --

Ric: Look, in all fairness, they were just acting out of concern for your best interests.

Elizabeth: I believe in you.

Ric: Elizabeth, I'm in for the long haul. There's nothing that you could do or say that would ever turn me away from you.

Elizabeth: I know that.

Ric: Good. So if there's -- if there's something that's troubling you, if there's something that you know about Zander's murder, just tell me.

Justus: Last chance to change your mind, counselor. Once that bell rings, there's no unringing it.

Alexis: Justus, my client is clear -- she wants to win.

Justus: Oh, so does Sonny, and he's prepared to annihilate Carly to get it. We've got plenty of ammunition.

Alexis: You aren't really going to sit there and act like your client is citizen of the year, are you? He's a criminal, for god's sake. He has no business inflicting that kind of lifestyle on innocent children, especially without a mother around to counteract that. I am not going to make deals with you under the table, Justus. Sonny is not fit to be a parent, and I intend to prove that so much so that I'm hoping the judge will be begging Carly to take the children.

Justus: It almost sounds like you have a personal stake in this.

Alexis: Excuse me, I need to find my client.

Sonny: Come here. I can't promise that your mother is not going to be sad.

Michael: You said you wouldn't hurt her. Why don't you love her?

Sonny: Who says I don't -- it's complicated, ok?

Jason: Hey, buddy.

Michael: Are you going to court, too?

Jason: I have to testify.

Michael: No one would fight or be mad if me and Morgan just lived with you.

Sonny: Ok, Michael, you got to -- you really have to stop trying to fix things, ok? This is between me and your mother. I know it's hard, but you -- I need you to stop worrying. Let us figure it out. The most important thing for you to do is just remember that no matter what happens between me and your mother, nothing will affect how we feel about you. You got that?

Michael: I got that.

Sonny: All right, get over here and give me a big hug before I leave. All right. You coming?

Jason: Yeah -- yeah. I'm just going to -- I'm just going to hang with Michael for a little while.

Sonny: All right. I'll see you there.

[Door opens and closes]

Jason: Something tells me you're still pretty scared.

Michael: Me and Morgan are never going to see mommy again.

Jason: Well, why would you -- why would you think that?

Michael: Daddy's going to win. He always does.

Carly: What did you do, Lorenzo? Did you bribe a judge? Did you threaten him? No, no, no, you'd never do that, right?

Lorenzo: No, Carly, I wouldn't because it might backfire on you. In case you haven't noticed, I am on your side. Carly, I'm confident in your victory because you are a wonderful, loving mother, and anyone can see that.

Carly: I'm sorry that I jumped on you.

Lorenzo: It's all right.

Carly: No, it's not.

Lorenzo: Well, you are like stone.

Carly: Yeah, well, it's a little hard to relax right now.

Lorenzo: You still need to try. You can't go off in court like you just did on me. Sonny will use it.

Carly: Yeah, I know. You're right.

Lorenzo: Sonny and Justus are going to dredge up every mistake you've ever made. They're going to try to provoke you into losing control, but you can't. You just need to sit there and relax. Don't defend yourself. Let Alexis do that. All right? When things look really hard, you can turn to me.

Carly: You can't be there, Lorenzo.

Lorenzo: What?

Carly: I don't want you to be in court.

Ric: I'm so grateful for your faith, especially since I haven't always deserved it.

Elizabeth: I look in your eyes and I see the truth.

Ric: And you're just as convinced that Nikolas didn't do it?

Elizabeth: Nikolas doesn't have it in him to kill somebody in cold blood. Believe me, I -- I know. I just --

Ric: Well, then who, Elizabeth? Emily?

Elizabeth: Come on, honey. I don't -- I don't hang out with murderers, ok? You need to look outside my circle of friends. I mean, I'm sure there are hundreds of candidates. I -- Zander was hooked up with Faith, wasn't he, and everything she brings? I mean, to those people, murder is just something on the day's to-do list, you know? I mean, he could've -- he could've crossed one of those people. Faith could've killed him. I -- just promise me you're not going to stop looking into it?

Ric: No, I am. Of course.

Elizabeth: Ok.

Ric: Ok.

Ric: I love you. You know that, right? There is nothing in this world I wouldn't do for you. Nothing.

Elizabeth: You know I feel exactly the same way.

Tracy: I couldn't help but overhear your kind words, and I appreciate your concern. Needless to say, my family is devastated, and we all love and depend on my father very much.

Georgie: Do you ever give up? Maxie and I don't buy your sympathy act.

Tracy: You can vent your grief on me. I understand. You're upset about Mac. I'll try to be patient.

Georgie: I need you to know something, Tracy. If this were just you, then I would convince my mother to sue for everything that you have. But there are other Quartermaines to consider, like a sweet old lady who doesn't have a mean bone in her body, and Edward who's having a medical crisis of his own. I hope you find him and everything's ok.

Dillon: Thanks. Brilliant strategy, mom. I'm sure we can all breathe easier now.

Tracy: What do you see in that mouthy brat? Never mind. I don't want to know. I'm going to Skye's.

Dillon: Wait, why would you -- why do you want to do that?

Tracy: Well, because I think she knows where daddy's hiding -- if she's not hiding him herself.

Dillon: Yeah, but even if she were, she's not going to admit it.

Tracy: Maybe I can trip her up. It's worth a shot.

Dillon: Well, let -- let me go.

Tracy: Ha! Really? I thought you didn't want to dirty your hands. What changed your mind?

Dillon: Well, you know, I mean, I heard what you said about family loyalty and how we all need to stick together. And I said I needed to do some thinking, so I did. So, I want to help.

Tracy: That's great -- if it's true.

Luke: What I'm saying is a business partner is no good to me wandering around the casino moping around, mildewed, teary-eyed.

Skye: "Mildewed"?

Luke: Well, whatever. You know what I'm saying. Don't you?

Skye: Listen, I appreciate your concern, but my heart is fine, really. It's locked behind walls and guarded by sumo wrestlers. So, really, it's not in the market for being broken by Edward or anyone else.

Luke: I'd lay big bucks that that sumo-wrestler-protected heart of yours is actually as squishy as a handful of marshmallows.

Skye: Really? Well, I don't know whether I should be insulted or flattered.

Luke: Look, hear me, Skye. Edward has been playing the players since long before you were born. You are the favorite one right now, but the minute he can't use you anymore, he's going to flatten you like a pancake, toss you on the breakfast buffet, and let those other cannibals slap butter all over you and pour some syrup on your private parts.

Skye: Well, people say the same things about you, you know.

Luke: So you talk about me?

Skye: Well, only in passing.

Luke: You like me.

Skye: Oh, really, I have no feeling about you one way

Luke: No, you like me. You really like me.

[Skye laughs]

Luke: See, this is a challenge. You like me. This is a challenge.

Skye: Oh -- well, then you just take your best shot, ok?

Edward: Get away from her, you letch! What the hell do I have to do around here to get breakfast?

Sonny: Hi.

Sam: Hi.

Sonny: What are you doing here?

Sam: Well, I'm your moral support.

Sonny: Ah.

Sam: I just -- I wanted to let you know that no matter what happens in court today, you are a wonderful father, and you're going to have your kids in the end.

Sonny: Well, that's sweet. I really haven't been hearing a lot of that lately. But -- no offense, but I don't know how good of a father I am right now, you know?

Sam: Well, I have eyes. I see the love in your eyes when you talk about your sons.

Sonny: Thank you.

Sam: I just -- I just want to support you, that's all, help you get through this.

Sonny: Yeah, and I appreciate that, but, you know, I --

Sam: What?

Sonny: I don't think it's that good of an idea right now, you know, for you to be in court, you know.

Sam: Of course.

Sonny: Yeah.

Sam: God, you're right. I -- I don't know what I was thinking.

Sonny: No --

Sam: It was obviously a really bad idea. I didn't -- I didn't think it through. I'm sorry.

Sonny: Hey, hey, hey --

Sam: I shouldn't have come.

Sonny: Shh. You want to support me, right?

Sam: Yeah.

Sonny: That's a good thing.

Sam: Ok. I'll be on my boat --

Sonny: Ok.

Sam: Ok? So if you want to just stop by, we can discuss the events of the day -- or not, your choice. Whatever you want to do.

Sonny: I'll let you know.

Sam: I'd give anything to kiss you right now. I know I can't, so --

Sonny: Yeah.

Carly: Sonny is claiming that I walked out on my family for you. Justus will argue that you are a bad influence on my judgment and, therefore, on my kids.

Lorenzo: Isn't it better that I'm in court where the judge can see that I'm not some monster, just a man who supports the woman he loves?

Carly: We both know that our relationship is not simple. I don't know how to define it, I don't know how to explain it, and I'd rather not try.

Lorenzo: Ok. Play it however you want.

Carly: Are you hurt?

Lorenzo: I'll get over it.

Carly: Lorenzo, I am sorry. I just -- this is a bad situation for all of us.

Lorenzo: Carly, Carly -- I don't want you to feel sorry for me. I just want you to find a way to stay in my life.

Jason: Why do you think that your dad's going to win custody?

Michael: Because he's smart and strong, and people will listen to whatever he says. What's "testify"?

Jason: Well, it's when a lawyer asks you questions in front of a judge or a jury and you have to swear to tell the truth.

Michael: What are you going to say?

Jason: I'm on your side. Yours and Morgan's, and I'm going to say what I think is best for you.

Michael: Even if mommy and daddy are mad?

Jason: Even then.

Leticia: Jason, I have to run to my car real quick. Can you watch the boys?

Jason: Yeah, sure. Hello, buddy.

[Morgan fusses]

Jason: Ok. You're ok. It's ok. It's ok. It's ok.

Michael: It's ok, Morgan.

[Morgan cries]

Michael: Daddy said he and mommy will love us no matter what. You don't have to be scared.

Edward: Oatmeal again?

Skye: Well, it's good for you.

Luke: Sticks to your ribs.

Edward: It's bland and boring, not to mention lumpy.

Skye: Well, I never said I was a chef.

Luke: With a body like that, you don't need to cook.

Edward: Stop your drooling, Spencer. She's out of your class. Can you get me a little brown sugar?

Skye: No! Stop being such a baby.

Luke: You can have all the sugar you want when you get to Brazil.

Skye and Edward: Brazil?

Luke: Yeah. Getting out of the country is the safest way to keep you out of Shadybrook. And I picked Brazil because it's carnival time, I know you love to Samba, and even you deserve to be able to look out the window and see some gorgeous Brazilian bombshells in thongs.

Edward: He's got a very good point there.

Skye: Did I ask you to do this, Luke?

Luke: You asked for my help.

Skye: Come here. Edward is sick.

Luke: He'll survive in Brazil!

Skye: Well, he's at risk for having another heart attack.

Luke: So you want me to rethink Brazil?

Skye: Oh, forget Brazil! He stays here in Port Charles.

Luke: Here with you? Are you out of your mind?

Skye: You know, I will find a place for him to hide where I will take care of him, ok? Just because you take off at the first sign of trouble does not mean that that's appropriate for Edward.

[Whistling]

Luke: Oh, nice low blow.

Skye: Dillon?

Edward: What are you doing here?

Dillon: It's over, grandfather. You're not staying here anymore.

Elizabeth: If you're here to accuse my husband of murder again, you just missed him.

Emily: You know, I don't apologize for doing anything that might clear Nikolas.

Elizabeth: What gives you the right to throw around accusations without any proof?

Emily: I won't let Nikolas go to prison for something Ric might've done.

Elizabeth: You know, believe it or not, I'm worried about Nikolas, too. But as sure as you are that Nikolas did not kill Zander, I'm that sure about Ric.

Emily: Last summer, you were positive that Ric hadn't kidnapped Carly, and you were wrong about that. What if you're wrong now?

Sonny: What's Lansing doing here?

Justus: You may choose to ignore the fact that he's your brother, but the court won't. Lansing's on Alexis' witness list. I spoke to her earlier. She's willing to prove the fact that you aren't fit, and she's not willing to back off.

Sonny: Doesn't surprise me.

Justus: Sonny, why do I get the impression this is personal?

Sonny: Well, because Alexis hates me for whatever reason. I don't -- Alexis -- hey -- there's still a chance you can, you know, not go through with a case that you're not going to win anyway.

Alexis: I don't happen to agree.

Sonny: You're smart, right? I mean, at least you used to be. It's better to have Carly mad at you than me.

Alexis: Counselor, would you kindly ask your client to stop harassing me before I press charges of my own?

Sonny: Alexis is out for blood.

Jason: There's still time to shut this down.

Sonny: No. There is no derailing this train.

Jason: Sonny, it's not over till the damage is done. You can stop this. All you got to do is talk to Carly.

Faith: First of all, I hate to be kept waiting. Secondly, I --

Lorenzo: Save it. You will come when you're called. Unless you want me to take back everything I gave you?

Faith: Oh. How did I know you were going to use that as leverage? What do you want?

Lorenzo: Carly's custody hearing begins today. She has to win. That means Sonny has to look as dangerous as possible.

Faith: I told you -- I'm on it. Ok? I'm going to take something away from Sonny that he can't

Sonny: You never could get this thing fastened.

Carly: Yeah, well, there's something wrong with it. It has been since you gave it to me.

Sonny: Yeah, you just got to know how to do it.

Carly: How'd you do that?

Sonny: Trade secret.

Carly: Well, I guess this is it.

Sonny: Yeah.

Carly: Are you nervous?

Sonny: Yeah.

Carly: Yeah, I've just been a nervous wreck all morning. Sonny, I hate this. I hate what it's doing to our kids. I hate what it's doing to us.

Sonny: Yeah, me, too. I was thinking, you know, if we --

Walker: All parties in the matter of Corinthos vs. Corinthos, step inside. The hearing's about to begin.

Carly: Well, I'm sorry I can't wish you good luck.

Tracy: Couldn't you have picked a more upscale place? You know how I hate diners. Whatever happened to that -- that Floating Rib? Did that close down?

Ned: Mm-hmm. And, of course, The Grill is no longer serving customers -- it went up in flames.

Tracy: Cruel of you to remind me. Why are we here?

Ned: I have some good news. I just spoke with the fire inspector, and the arson report on the hotel fire is in.

Tracy: "Good news"?

Ned: Well, they've concluded that although the wiring is old, it was still within code, which means the family is no longer liable for any damages.

Tracy: Oh, no.

Ned: What do you mean, "oh, no"?

Tracy: Honey, you have to bury that report.

Luke: Young Spielberg, you continue to impress. How long have you known that Edward was here?

Dillon: I put it together last night. Don't worry, though. I haven't told anybody yet.

Skye: And you can't. If Tracy finds out that Edward is here, she'll ship him off to Shadybrook. That way she can just run the family without interference.

Edward: Not to mention E.L.Q. She's wanted my company since I gave her her allowance for the first time. You think we're in bad financial straits now? She'll take us to new depths.

Dillon: You know, grandfather, there is an obvious solution here. Why don't you just do the right thing -- tell everybody that your sane and take responsibility for the hotel fire?

Skye: Impossible! Unless you want to kill your grandfather.

Emily: You were the one who told me what an amazing liar Ric is. I mean, he knows you inside and out, Elizabeth. He knows your buttons and exactly how hard to push them. He is working you --

Elizabeth: I'm not stupid --

Emily: And you are buying it.

Elizabeth: I'm not stupid, Emily, ok? I know my husband and he's changed.

Emily: Ok --

Elizabeth: He is not the same person who kidnapped Carly.

Emily: You honestly believe that there is no chance that Ric killed Zander after everything else he's done? I mean, are you so desperate to have a father for your baby that you have closed your mind to everything else? We are talking about Nikolas' life here!

Elizabeth: Oh -- ok, you know what, Emily? Despite what you may think, Nikolas' life isn't any more valuable than Ric's, and my marriage isn't any less strong or less important than your little love story.

Emily: Ok, now, the difference is Ric thinks his love justifies any horrible thing he does -- including killing Zander so he can have a clear path to your baby -- and apparently you are just fine with that.

Elizabeth: I'm warning you, Emily. I don't want to lose your friendship. But force me to choose between you and my husband, you're going to lose.

Emily: Ok. You know what? Here's a warning for you. I won't let Ric or anyone else railroad Nikolas into jail for a murder he didn't commit.

Alexis: Mr. Lansing, how are you related to Mr. Corinthos?

Ric: He's my brother.

Alexis: Are you close?

Ric: No, Sonny and I are not close.

Alexis: Are you testifying today out of a personal vendetta?

Ric: No, I'm here to tell the truth as I see it.

Alexis: Have you had any professional interaction with Mr. Corinthos?

Ric: He's been arrested a few times.

Justus: Objection, your honor. Irrelevant. Mr. Corinthos has never been convicted.

Judge: Sustained. Move along, Ms. Davis.

Alexis: Do you have an opinion as to which parent is best suited to raise Michael and Morgan Corinthos?

Ric: Yes, I do.

Alexis: And what would that be, Mr. Lansing?

Ric: I know Mrs. Corinthos loves both of her sons, but I don't believe her to be a more suitable parent than Sonny. I think it's in the best interest of both of her children if they share joint custody.

Alexis: Thank you. That'll be all, Mr. Lansing.

Judge: Just a moment, Ms. Davis. You called Mr. Lansing. I'd like to hear what he has to say.

Ric: My brother has a difficult background. He tends to be a little overprotective, but I believe he's a very loving father who has both of his sons' best interests at heart, and I think it would be a terrible disservice if Michael and Morgan --

Carly: You lying piece of scum!

[Judge pounds gavel]

Judge: Mrs. Corinthos, you are out of order.

Ned: What you're saying doesn't make any sense. If I bury the arson report, it would leave E.L.Q. Wide open for litigation.

Tracy: And if we don't bury the report, there is no reason for daddy to play the crazy game. Then he takes control of E.L.Q. And he gives all of what's left to Skye. If we keep the status quo, I remain in control of the family coffers.

Ned: Excuse me if I'm not jumping for joy.

Tracy: Why don't you take the devil you know? At least I'll be able to keep the family resources in the family. If daddy has control, everything will go to an outsider. That's everything that you have worked so hard for. Who else has given more of his life to E.L.Q. Than you?

Ned: Then it would seem that I should be the one who's calling the shots.

Tracy: After I have been chasing my tail trying to keep this family out of the poorhouse, not so fast. I didn't come up with this plan out of the goodness of my heart.

Ned: Of course you didn't. All right. I will bury this arson report --

Tracy: Shh.

Ned: On one condition -- you give me a 50/50 split of E.L.Q. And everything else.

[Tracy laughs]

Tracy: 50/50? Are you out of your mind?

Ned: Take it or leave it.

Tracy: I'll take it. I was going to come up with the same idea anyway.

Ned: Of course you were.

Tracy: Partners -- finally?

Ned: Partners.

Skye: Edward just had a serious heart attack. Now, he barely survived, and he's not out of the woods yet. Tracy wants to ship him off to a mental institution, and you want to put him through the pressure of a trial and -- better yet, a prison term? There's no way that Edward will survive either. Now, he just -- he needs a chance to recuperate, ok?

Luke: Has anybody seen this arson report? Do we know how much trouble we're dealing with here?

Edward: Not to my knowledge. Hasn't been released yet. Unless you know something different?

Dillon: Uh-uh.

Luke: Well, then I suggest we stop running around like chicken little looking for an umbrella and we check the weather report.

Skye: Well, that makes sense.

Edward: How? I'm obviously not in any position to call in favors.

Luke: Let me worry about how.

Dillon: Um -- excuse me. Hey, everybody, I haven't said that I'm not going to blow the whistle on this yet.

Luke: Well, before you decide, consider all the ramifications. For instance, we need somebody on the inside.

Dillon: Inside of what?

Luke: Someone has to keep an eye on Tracy.

Dillon: Why are you guys looking at -- no. No. I'm -- no, I'm not turning against my mom.

Edward: Only temporarily, son. Only temporarily. It's for the good of the family.

Luke: Oh, don't listen to him. Forget the family. You do this for yourself, be your own man. If you think this is a bad idea, then so be it. But if you'd like to help Skye protect your grandfather, then do it. What's it going to be, Dillon? Are you ready to cut the apron strings and think for yourself?

Jax: Oh -- hey. I'm surprised to see you here. I thought you'd be at the custody hearing with sonny. Unless, of course, he asked you to stay away.

Sam: Oh, you must love being right all the time, Jax.

Jax: Not if it means you're hurting.

Sam: Who's says I'm hurting? It makes sense for me not to be there.

Jax: Oh. I see you and Sonny have reached the stage where he shoves a knife through your heart and convinces you that it's best for everyone.

Sam: Think what you want. You will anyway.

Jax: You know, Alexis asked me to testify about Sonny's abusive behavior toward women. Seeing you reminds me of how important it is for the judge to know about that.

Sam: Jax, you can't testify against Sonny.

Carly: Ric never should've testified. I don't know why I listened to you. I mean, who should know better what a wack job he is than me? He kidnapped me, he locked me in a panic room, for god's sake.

Alexis: I have no idea what triggered that sudden turnabout. He did all that because he hated Sonny. Did they have some sort of reconciliation that you neglected to mention to me?

Carly: Well, as you know, I have not been living with him as of late, but I seriously doubt it. You be honest with me. You tell me how much damage Ric just did to us.

Alexis: His testimony wasn't nearly as bad as your outburst. I'm trying to make Sonny look outrageous and unstable, not you. You need to talk about his breakdowns.

Carly: No, I told you that is not an option. Courtney -- she's scheduled to testify next, then Jason. They will support me.

Alexis: Where is she anyway? I haven't seen her.

Carly: She'll be here. Oh, god, I don't believe this.

Alexis: This isn't good, Carly.

Carly: I asked you not to be here.

Lorenzo: I didn't have a choice. I was subpoenaed by Sonny.

Jason: Ric's showing support all of a sudden. Why do you think that is?

Sonny: I don't know, but I'm sure there's a price attached.

Ric: Sonny. I need to speak with you.

Sam: Look, I realize you don't think much of Sonny, but he doesn't deserve to lose his children.

Jax: You know, you can't sit there honestly with a straight face and tell me that the kids are better off with Sonny in constant danger than they are with their mother.

Sam: What? Alcazar isn't anyone's idea of a pillar of virtue, either, Jax.

Jax: You know, to my knowledge, the only one that ever shot at Alcazar was Sonny -- right before he took you hostage.

Sam: Yeah, well, there were extenuating circumstances. That doesn't make him a bad father.

Jax: Wow. Obviously, he's convinced you of that. I know better.

Sam: I am asking you as a friend. Please do not testify against him. It'll only escalate the tension between the two of you --

Jax: I'm not afraid of Sonny. Now, that said, you can stop wasting your time begging for him. I won't be testifying.

Sam: Thank you.

Jax: Not because of you. Carly doesn't want me to. You see, she doesn't want the world to know what an abuser Sonny is. Even now when he's threatening to take her children away, she's protecting him. Isn't that great? And you know what she's going to get for her troubles? Sonny will win, he'll take the boys away. And then they will tear each other apart fighting, and then he's going to take Carly back, and he will shut you out of his life permanently. I just hope that you find the self-respect to walk away before that happens.

Sonny: You did it backwards like you do everything else, Ric. It's too late to come looking for payback. Your testimony is already on the record.

Ric: Well, that's easily rectified. I can waltz right back in there and I can tell them I testified under duress, that you forced me to testify in your favor.

Sonny: It's not a good time to mess with me, Ric.

Ric: That's not what I'm trying to do, Sonny. I did you a favor. I need to know if and when I need it, you'll repay it.

Jason: How much worse is this going to get? You called Ric to testify for you, Sonny calls Alcazar? Why are you inviting your enemies to have a say in your family?

Carly: You know how to end this, Jason. You tell the court that Michael and Morgan belong with me. Otherwise, Alexis will force me --

Jason: I'm going to tell you what I told Sonny -- the two of you can work it out and you better do it before you put something in motion you can't stop.

Carly: Jase, don't you see it is already too late?

Walker: The hearing's about to resume. Everyone, take your seats.

Judge: Who's your next witness, Ms. Davis?

Alexis: Courtney Morgan, but she doesn't seem to be present.

Judge: Is this Mrs. Morgan?

Alexis: No, your honor. I have no idea what happened to her.

>> On the next "General Hospital" --

Ric: "Ric killed me, and you know why."

Justus: Sonny, don't.

Sonny: What did you do

[judge pounds gavel]

Judge: Corinthos, be seated!

Carly: Faith could've done something to Courtney.

Alexis: Stay out of it.

Jason: Where's my wife?
