Carly: Jax. What a surprise.
Jax: Wow. You changed your hair. It looks nice.
Carly: Thank you.
Jax: I guess your custody hearing is starting soon.
Carly: Yeah. What about it?
Jax: Well, I am here to testify on your behalf.
Jason: Is there any chance that the judge could award joint custody to Carly and Sonny?
Justus: He could. But it's highly unlikely. Sonny and Carly have made it very clear that they're not willing to accept joint custody.
Justus: That could sway the judge towards putting those boys in foster care.
Jason: No, that -- Justus, that can't happen.
Justus: Then we need to offer an alternative. Are you prepared to take those boys in yourself?
Lucky: Hey, Lansing, security footage from the camera at the courthouse shows that Baldwin was there at the time of Zander's murder in the hotel.
Ric: Well, then we can cross Baldwin off of our list of suspects. Good following up.
Lucky: Hey, Lansing.
Lucky: You know, from the beginning you've been pretty certain that Baldwin wasn't the killer. Why?
Ric: Well, for one thing, there wasn't a shred of evidence.
Lucky: Either that or you're holding inside information on Zander's death.
Zander's voice: "Dear Elizabeth -- if you're reading this, I'm probably dead. Ric killed me, and you know why."
Nikolas: I don't like the idea of involving Elizabeth.
Emily: She's married to Ric. She's carrying Zander's baby. She has a right to know the truth.
Nikolas: I know, but there's no proof Ric killed Zander.
Emily: Well, there could be after today.
Dillon: Excuse me. Is Georgie Jones volunteering today?
Nurse: She's not on the schedule.
Tracy: How fortunate.
Dillon: If you're here to trash Georgie, for the millionth time, I'm not interested, thank you.
Tracy: No, this has nothing to do with Georgie's dubious merits. It has to do with, um, protecting your family.
Dillon: We've been over this.
Tracy: I know. And apparently it's made no impression upon you, so I'm going to keep repeating it until the message gets through. If anyone finds out that your grandfather was in his right mind when he ignored the warnings about the fire hazard at the hotel, your family will lose everything.
Dillon: Why are you acting like this whole thing hinges on me?
Tracy: It may.
Dillon: Even if I don't tell Georgie, this thing is not going to remain a secret for long. Somebody's going to bust grandfather for a fraud.
Tracy: Not if I have him committed.
Dillon: Well, that's going to be a little difficult, mom, considering we can't find him.
Tracy: Yes, and the longer he's out there, the saner he looks. I have to track him down and get him safely locked up at Shadybrook immediately.
Edward: Oatmeal and herb tea? Do I look like a health fanatic to you?
Skye: Well, I shudder to think what your regular breakfast looks like.
Edward: Throw in a couple of sausages, we'll call it even.
Skye: Edward, you just had a massive coronary. I did not rescue you from General Hospital only to return you there in an ambulance.
Edward: Skye, I need my strength to fight off Tracy. That backstabbing ingrate's in for the fight of her life.
Luke: Good morning, Blaze. Sister pugnacious.
Edward: Doesn't he bother to knock?
Skye: Why do you care?
Edward: In other words, no? You allow this man to come traipsing into your home at all hours? Where, in god's name, is your self-respect?
Skye: All right, you know what -- he's all yours. I'm taking a break from nursing duty.
Edward: Skye --
Luke: Oh, Edward. Don't you realize the very first rule of houseguest etiquette is don't aggravate the hostess?
Edward: I refuse to sit silent while you take advantage of that girl.
Luke: Me take advantage? Let's talk who's taking advantage here, Edward. Who used her to escape Tracy? Who's hiding out in her house? Who's promising her bogus love and --
Edward: I appreciate everything that Skye has done for me, and I tend to reward her without any coaching from you. Now, since you're here, why don't you make yourself useful and get me a proper breakfast.
Ric: Gosh. Some new key, huh?
Elizabeth: Hey, honey.
Elizabeth: Do you, um -- do you know where the new box of checks is, because I can't -- I can't find them. I just used up the old ones.
Ric: Um -- oh, no. No, no, no, it's over here.
Elizabeth: You know, they say pregnancy makes you lose your memory, and it's so true because I can't remember a thing.
Ric: That's all right.
Elizabeth: Thank you.
Ric: Here's a chance for you to test your memory. You called me at the office, you wanted me to come right home. Why?
Elizabeth: Yeah, you're not going to like this.
Lucky: You can take Scott Baldwin off the suspect list. He was on the security camera at the courthouse the same time as Zander's murder.
Nikolas: Does Ric know that?
Lucky: Yeah, and he wasn't surprised at all.
Emily: Look, of course he wasn't. Ric killed Zander himself, and we're going to prove it.
Lucky: No, you know what, he's way too smart for that. He'll know you're on to him.
Nikolas: He's also arrogant. See, Ric's convinced that he's gotten away with murder. His guard's down.
Lucky: And what makes you so sure he'll show up?
Nikolas: Well, he told Elizabeth that he's only going through the motions of prosecuting me while he searches for another suspect. He has to keep up pretense.
Emily: Of course, he may lie his way out of it.
Nikolas: True. But we'll be putting the pressure on him and hopefully we'll force him into a mistake.
Justus: I've already gotten more than enough evidence to cast serious doubt on Carly's fitness as a parent. I'm sure Alexis has similar ammunition to use against Sonny. The way things are going, they'll tear each other apart at the hearing and the court could decide that they should both lose custody.
Jason: Sonny and Carly love their kids.
Justus: That's not always enough. The court could decide that they're not acting in the children's best interests.
Jason: Justus, if they're ordered to share joint custody, Carly and Sonny are going to make it work.
Justus: Oh, Jason. They're both your friends and you want to believe that, but I doubt the judge will agree. When he sees Sonny and Carly tearing each other's throats out at the hearing, he'll have no reason to believe that they could compromise for the sake of the boys. The judge is going to look for other options. Now, since Michael has already stated that he's willing to live with you, you need to seriously consider whether you can take those boys in.
Carly: All right, I appreciate the effort, Jax, but, really, what can you tell the court about my fitness as a parent? We were partners in a nightclub business.
Jax: Well, you used to bring Michael, you know, by the club 101 office from time to time.
Carly: Right, and that's a great environment for a kid.
Jax: No, no, you'd bring toys and games, and you obviously adored your child.
Carly: All right, just cut to the chase, Jax. We didn't exactly end our business partnership on a friendly note. You blackmailed me into signing over my shares.
Jax: Well, that's because you embezzled from my club.
Carly: Right. Exactly. That is my point. Ok, you have nothing positive to say about me, so why would I want you on the stand?
Jax: No, no, listen, Alexis thinks I have relevant testimony about Sonny.
[Knock on door]
Jax: That's probably --
Carly: Hmm, yes, of course.
Alexis: Sorry I'm late. I had to settle Kristina in with the nanny. Thanks for coming.
Carly: Ok, this is a waste of time, Alexis. What could Jax possibly have to say about sonny's fitness as a parent?
Jax: Look, I know firsthand that he's abusive to women.
Carly: Forget it, Jax. There is no way I am going to let you air your grudge against Sonny in my hearing.
Jax: No, no, no, this isn't about some vendetta.
Carly: Oh, like hell it isn't.
Jax: I'm merely offering to tell the truth, ok?
Carly: Ok, the truth is that you will use any excuse you can to string Sonny along and stick it to him.
Jax: Look, Sonny drove Brenda to a nervous breakdown. He verbally abused her. He repeatedly exposed her to danger. He isolated and belittled her. Just as he's done to you, obviously.
Carly: Sonny never abused Brenda any more than he abused me. Brenda is a spoiled, self-centered attention junkie who used to play the victim to keep you dangling on a string, and you hate Sonny for it, and that is what your offer to testify is really about.
Alexis: That's enough, Carly.
Carly: There is no way I am going to let Jax take the stand!
Jax: Oh, you know what, I'm not going to argue with you about this, ok? Good luck hanging on to your children. You're going to need it.
Carly: Thank you. Great. Sonny gets shot at on a regular basis. He has had three warehouses either explode or burned. What is so difficult about proving that his life is too dangerous to have the boys live with him?
Alexis: It's not that difficult.
Carly: Ok, then do it and stop with all this other garbage.
Alexis: Sonny's lifestyle, dangerous as it is, doesn't necessarily guarantee you custody of your children, which is what I thought the goal was in the first place. Unless maybe this is some elaborate game you're playing to get your husband back.
Justus: There can't be any violence while this custody issue is being decided.
Jason: I mean, if someone tries to take Sonny's territory --
Justus: Sonny needs to ignore it or put it off, whatever it takes to keep the peace.
Jason: My job is to protect Sonny's interests.
Justus: Your job is to look like someone who can provide a safe and stable environment for the boys who might otherwise end up in foster care. Put your gun down, Jason. Stay out of trouble. No questionable shipments, no retaliation, nothing.
Jason: I can't guarantee anything.
Justus: Are you willing to help the boys or not?
Jason: Of course I am!
Justus: So if the court decides against giving Sonny and Carly custody, you need to look like a viable alternative.
Alan: Justus. Jason.
Monica: Hello, Jason.
Justus: Hey, doc.
Alan: Have you heard from father?
Alan: His mind is deteriorating. We weren't aware of it at first.
Jason: You don't really have to explain.
Monica: Well, uh, good to see you, Jason.
Jason: Monica. I have something to ask you.
Emily: Elizabeth, Ric, thanks for coming.
Elizabeth: Lucky, too? Damn, if this is a reunion of the four musketeers, maybe Ric should've stayed at home.
Emily: We wanted Ric to be here.
Ric: Look, I know you're all Elizabeth's closest friends, and if this is a social gathering, I'd be happy to attend. But if this has anything to do with the murder charges against Nikolas, I'm afraid I'm going to have to leave. It's a violation of procedure to discuss this case out of court.
Lucky: Well, you're only going through the formalities of prosecuting Nikolas while you continue to search for an alternate suspect. Isn't that right?
Ric: No, actually, Lucky, I'm trying to do my job. I'd suggest you do the same. Scott Baldwin was eliminated as a primary suspect this morning.
Elizabeth: Whoa. What? When did this happen?
Ric: We -- we just found out that there was evidence that Scott was nowhere near the hotel at the time of Zander's death.
Elizabeth: Why didn't you tell me this?
Ric: I just found out about it. All right, they went over the security camera footage at the courthouse and Scott was on it. Look, Elizabeth, you have to face the facts -- Nikolas had means, he had motive, and he had the opportunity to kill Zander. He could've called the PCPD and then he could've gone back to the basement.
Zander: You come back to finish what you started?
Nikolas: Police are on their way.
Zander: Good, they can find your body.
Ric: It's too late for you to plead self-defense, but I'd be happy to offer you the deal I did before if you plead manslaughter.
Nikolas: I didn't kill Zander. Maybe you did.
Luke: Eat up. Then we'll figure out a way to get you out of here.
Edward: Oh, bless you, Spencer.
Skye: Edward! Put that down. Luke, what are you doing? The man just had a heart attack. You're going to kill him with all that cholesterol.
Luke: Well, that's the idea. Then he can take the blame for the hotel fire to his grave, you can inherit everything, and I can live in a way that I've always wanted to.
Edward: I'm going to revise my will and stipulate Skye only gets the money if she doesn't marry you.
Luke: Who said anything about marriage?
Edward: Fine, I'll include any romantic liaisons.
Luke: You're going to put a no-sex clause in your will? Who's going to enforce it?
Skye: Luke, Luke, please. Look, I know he's infuriating, but please, the man has a weak heart.
Edward: Why do you give this reprobate the time of day? He's never had a good influence on anybody in his entire life. He'll take you straight to ruin if you give him half a chance.
Luke: Ok, that's enough. I can always find another way to make a buck. Come on, Blaze, let's toss the old tyrant out in the snow. Better yet, let's call Tracy and tell her to come pick him up -- Tracy! Good morning! How odd. We were just talking about you. To what do we owe this --
Tracy: Cut the song and dance. You have my father in there.
Sage: Hey. Thanks for coming.
Dillon: Yeah. What's up?
Sage: Well, we have the day off from school, just hours and hours of free time, just you and me. Don't look so nervous. I'm talking about a road trip.
Dillon: What? Where?
Sage: Manhattan, remember? The film festival? We were watching the Oscars and you promised to take me?
Dillon: Sage, I'm sorry, I -- I can't.
Sage: But --
Dillon: I can't.
Sage: Come on, today is, like, the perfect day. It'll be like the sequel to my birthday celebration.
Dillon: Now is really not a good time. My family's basically imploding.
Jason: You and Alan -- I mean, you seem to fight a lot. Did you ever separate or divorce when your kids were little?
Monica: You never asked about your childhood before.
Jason: Yeah, well, um -- look, Sonny and Carly, they can't agree on joint custody, ok? I think they need some time to cool off and realize that Michael and Morgan need both of them. But in the meantime, I mean, Justus thinks the boys could end up with me.
Monica: Well, that's not such a bad idea.
Jason: I mean, what if they start, you know -- if they start getting used to living with me? What if it feels like home to them? I'm not their father. I don't want to confuse those boys even more than they are right now.
Monica: You know, Alan and I have never forgotten we're Michael's grandparents, and we want what's best for him. The time that you were his father I know was very special to him. That child has blossomed with you, Jason. You could see it. You could see it in his eyes and the way he laughed. And I know that you loved him very much.
Jason: Yeah, remember when he started to walk? Man, that kid, he was curious about everything. He'd pick everything up, put it in his mouth -- glasses, books. I had to clear all the tables, put everything up high, and then he learned how to climb.
Monica: Well, Michael needed you then. And from what it sounds like, he might just need you a lot more right now.
Alexis: What is it with you two this time, anyway? Is it that you're just angry at each other, or are you just doing this for the fun of it?
Carly: I'm paying you to get my boys back, not psychoanalyze me.
Alexis: Some people are capable of compromising. You two have a feeding frenzy of retaliation and one-upmanship. I don't know, maybe you're bored. Maybe you aren't capable of being happy. I just don't know. And I just don't care.
Carly: Well, you'd better start caring, because if you tank this case, I will --
Alexis: I know, you'll tell. You know what, the sad thing is, despite the fact that you're blackmailing me, I actually care about the well-being of your children, maybe more than you do. You know what -- I'm tired of this, I'm tired of you. I'm resigning as of this moment.
Carly: Ok, you do that, Alexis, and I am going to go straight to Sonny and I'm going to tell him that he is Kristina's father.
Alexis: No, you won't.
Alexis: You won't tell because you want him back. There. I just called your bluff.
Elizabeth: Ric did not kill Zander.
Nikolas: He had motive.
Elizabeth: What is this, an ambush? God, Emily, I can't believe you would take advantage of our friendship to get us out here, and now you're accusing him of murder?
Lucky: Wait, I didn't hear him denying it.
Ric: Nikolas is making groundless accusations. I'm not going to dignify them with an answer.
Emily: You had motive, Ric, and the opportunity was right there in front of you. You could've gone down to the hotel basement.
Ric: Really? Why would I?
Emily: Maybe Zander called you. It wouldn't be the first time he'd blackmailed you.
Zander: You get Emily to meet me in 15 minutes with a car at Riverview road. Send the cops in the opposite direction or I will turn myself in and tell the world that D.A. Lansing framed me so he could steal my kid.
Ric: Fine. I'll do whatever you say.
Zander: I thought you might.
Ric: I'll hold onto this just in case.
Ric: Burn in hell, you bastard.
Emily: You have been so eager to push this case forward. Framing Nikolas is the perfect way to cover your own crime.
Ric: I'm not the killer.
Emily: Really? Well, neither is Nikolas.
Ric: Well, then let's look at who else had means, motive, and the opportunity, Emily. You were there at the hotel. Maybe you killed Zander.
Nikolas: Shifting blame to Emily to cover your own crime, Ric? That's -- that's low, even for you.
Ric: I read the police report on the theft of the treasure. Emily left the Versailles room before the end of the auction -- didn't you?
Lucky: Wait, Emily didn't kill Zander.
Ric: Well, Zander was desperate. I mean, he's always called her before. Why wouldn't he now?
Zander: We're leaving, ok?
Emily: No, Zander.
Zander: We're going to go to Canada.
Emily: No, listen, you should run.
Zander: No, shh, stop talking, ok?
Emily: I won't tell anybody that I've seen you.
Zander: I'm not leaving you.
Emily: I can't.
Zander: Shut up, shut up, shut up! Shut up, I love you, ok?
Elizabeth: Just stop this, ok? We can't be doing this. This is all wrong.
Ric: Elizabeth, Elizabeth, calm down, all right?
Elizabeth: We're standing around, trading accusations, and this is crazy, you guys! We can't let Zander's death destroy our friendship. Emily, I -- I know you didn't kill Zander, and Nikolas didn't, either. You want this all over with, you want Nikolas to -- you want everyone to believe he's innocent, but accusing my husband is not the way to do it, ok?
Ric: It's all right. Sweetheart, please, that's enough. I'm taking you home. You know, if you three respect your friend, you'll leave her alone.
Nikolas: I knew it. I knew he'd hide behind Elizabeth.
Dillon: People are accusing my grandfather of negligence in the hotel fire.
Sage: Well, is it true?
Dillon: I don't know. I'm not -- I'm not sure. But I'm getting kind of worried because, you know, my grandfather's now considered mentally incompetent and he's missing and nobody knows where he is. My whole family is trying to find him.
Sage: I'm sorry. But, Dillon, what does that have to do with us going to Manhattan?
Dillon: Sage, I just -- I need to stick around for a little while at least, ok?
Sage: To track down your grandfather, or are you just looking for an excuse to blow me off?
Dillon: I want to go with you. I want to go, all right? I just can't. I can't right now.
Sage: Fine. It's no big deal.
Dillon: I do need to find my grandfather. I need to settle this liability thing before my mom gets ahold of it and turns it into some huge disaster.
Skye: What -- what do you want?
Tracy: My father. I know damn well he's hiding out here.
Skye: Really? Well, that's news to me.
Tracy: The innocent act does not become you. I suppose I should thank daddy, though. You know, the disappearing act is doing a really good job of showing how completely gaga you are, daddy.
Skye: Oh, I'd say the crazy one here is you, Tracy. I mean, barging in here and talking to thin air?
Tracy: Hmm. Let's see. Whose tray of cholesterol is that?
Luke: Oh, honey, you made me breakfast. The domesticity just oozes out of you.
Skye: Oh, sweetie, you know I've been taking cooking lessons. Anything to keep you happy.
Tracy: You don't think I'm going to buy the domestic devotion act, do you? I know that Luke helped you smuggle daddy out of the hospital, into your car, and over here.
Skye: Well, you have a very vivid imagination, Tracy.
Tracy: I have very vivid proof. This is how you got him out of the hospital.
Skye: Leave that alone.
Tracy: Daddy as a nun? The mind boggles.
Skye: Oh, this is a violation of privacy, ok? What I do in my home is my business and nobody else's.
Luke: Except mine.
Tracy: Hmm. Let's see, you expect me to believe that you dress up as a nun?
Luke: Oh, where's the originality in that? I am -- [falsetto] Sister Marie Frances Dominae, and this is Trixie, my student --
Luke: Who needs discipline! Must have discipline! [Normal voice] want to play, Tracy?
Tracy: That's disgusting.
Luke: Well, in that case, I guess we won't invite her back to the playroom in the back.
Tracy: Listen, when I find my father -- and I will -- and I happily lock him up in Shadybrook, I will leave him with the comforting thought that his sole heir is a drunk and a pervert.
Luke: [Falsetto] She requires discipline! Discipline!
Skye: Sister Frances Marie Dominae? What are you, demented?
Luke: [Normal voice] it worked, didn't it?
Edward: Like a charm. Well done, Spencer. It takes someone truly twisted to chase Tracy off.
Luke: Thank you.
Carly: Why shouldn't I tell Sonny about Kristina?
Alexis: Are you comfortable with him knowing that he has a child with another woman?
Carly: Oh, it's a perfect distraction. Sonny and his lawyers could get to work on taking your child and leave mine alone. You know what -- in fact, I think I will tell him right now.
Alexis: You would actually do it, wouldn't you?
Carly: In a heartbeat. Unless you get me sole custody of Michael and Morgan.
Alexis: Then stop working against me. You're tying my hands and making it impossible for me to win this case.
Carly: No, I am asking you to be creative, and since that is clearly beyond you, I will help you. Use Sam. She is a con artist. She has made a career out of petty crime and she's sleeping with Sonny.
Alexis: You want my legal advice, I'm giving it to you -- that's not enough.
Carly: Oh, well, you make it enough, Alexis. I was over at the house and she was there, Michael was upstairs. Sonny is exposing my children to that little tramp.
[Knock on door]
Alexis: You want to do your friend a favor? Why don't you advise her that if she wants to get her husband back, dragging him through family court and her children is not the right way.
Carly: Do you know how much I hate that woman and this custody battle? And I have to trust her.
Jason: Is Alexis right? Do you want Sonny back?
Nikolas: Ric's going to be scrambling to cover his tracks right now.
Lucky: The best way Ric can avoid suspicion is to get you convicted, all right? He's out for blood.
Emily: Lucky's right. You need to be careful.
Nikolas: No, what I need is evidence against Ric.
Emily: Before he has a chance to get rid of it.
Lucky: Ric was in the hotel when Zander was in the basement, so maybe somebody from the lobby saw Ric when he was going to meet Zander.
Lucky: Or maybe somebody from the PCPD notified Ric and told him where Zander was. So you know what? I'm going to dig up as many leads, witnesses as I can, all right?
Nikolas: In the meantime, Ric could get careless and give himself away, so --
Lucky: One way or another, we're going to nail him.
Nikolas: All right, thanks for your help, man.
Lucky: Hey, like I said, there's no way I'm letting you take the fall for this.
Nikolas: All right, thanks.
Emily: Thanks. Oh, my god. Oh, god, this whole thing keeps getting worse.
Nikolas: I know.
Emily: You know, Elizabeth is one of our best friends, and we just took advantage of her to try and ambush her husband.
Nikolas: Well, Ric didn't give us much choice.
Emily: Look, I'm certain Ric's the killer. It's going to break Elizabeth's heart.
Elizabeth: I'm telling you, I'm so sorry. I mean, I should've seen it coming. I don't understand why --
Ric: Elizabeth, there's no way you could've known what your friends were planning.
Elizabeth: Yeah, but if I had asked Emily why she really wanted us to come to Wyndemere, she might have told me and --
Ric: Sweetheart, she would've denied it. She would've done anything, she would've lied. She's desperate to save Nikolas. I can't say that I wouldn't do the same thing if I were in her shoes, to place blame on anybody but the person that I loved.
Elizabeth: I hate feeling like we're on opposite sides, you know, because I honestly -- well, I know that Nikolas is innocent and so is Emily.
Ric: What about me? You believe Emily's accusations?
Elizabeth: No. No, god, no! Of course not.
Ric: I appreciate your loyalty. That means the world to me after all of the lies that I've told you in the past.
Elizabeth: Well, that's because that's exactly what they are -- they're in the past.
Ric: Look, you don't have to be afraid to ask the question, all right? Just ask me.
Elizabeth: Honey, I love you and I believe you're telling me the truth, ok?
Ric: Then ask me.
Elizabeth: Did you kill Zander?
Ric: No. But I wanted to.
Georgie: Uh -- hi.
Dillon: Hi. Good book?
Georgie: It's ok. I also like it because it's long and easy to follow, and I can read it while I'm waiting for my turn with Mac.
Dillon: How's he doing?
Georgie: He's ok.
Dillon: He's going to get better, Georgie, you know that.
Georgie: I keep telling mom and Maxie, "he's going to get better, Mac's going to get better." I'm the original one-person cheering squad. I mean, that's my job, right?
Dillon: You also get to feel.
Georgie: It's like the night of the fire. I had to keep doing what came next because if I stopped for one second and let it all become real, it would've been too much to handle and O would've been a miserable, crying mess.
Dillon: Yeah. Can I help? I mean, is there any --
Georgie: You're listening. That's all anyone can do.
Dillon: Well, I can walk you to the hospital, at least.
Georgie: But you were going in the other direction.
Dillon: Ah, just a non-important, stupid errand for my mom.
Georgie: What kind of errand?
Dillon: Uh -- you don't want to know.
Georgie: Sure I do.
Dillon: Ok, sit. Um -- ok. My grandfather escaped from the hospital. My mom thinks that somebody in my -- somebody in my family is hiding him. So she wants to find him and have him committed to an insane asylum, which, you know, he probably deserves, but, at the same time, that's pretty cold. I mean, that's even worse than sending me to military school, which she's probably going to do if I don't help her find him. So basically -- basically, I'm selling out and -- and helping hunt down my grandfather to save my own skin.
Georgie: Thank you.
Carly: Yeah, I love Sonny. Even after all he has done to hurt me, I can't help caring about him.
Jason: Well, have you told him?
Carly: I almost did yesterday in the courthouse. We were sitting in the judge's chambers, and it was like it used to be, Jason, like we could just talk to each other openly and honestly and just tell each other what we meant. And then it was just -- it was gone, ok?
Carly: Because Lorenzo came in and then Sonny's walls just went flying right back.
Jason: Carly, I mean, does that surprise you?
Carly: No, it doesn't, and it doesn't even really matter anymore, Jason. Sonny and I can't be together. The damage has been done and we need to just let this go.
Jason: But you don't understand, you and Sonny will always be connected through Michael and Morgan.
Carly: I know that. And Sonny can see them when they're older. I'm not going to object.
Jason: What do you mean? Sonny's their father. You can't break that bond.
Carly: Jason, I'm trying --
Jason: Carly --
Jason: You and Sonny are hurting these kids. Why can't you guys see it?
Carly: I am trying to protect Sonny.
Alexis: I'm sorry that you wasted a trip this morning.
Jax: No, you seemed even more annoyed than I was.
Alexis: Because she's insane, because Carly's the most insane client that I've ever had. She's unstable, she's erratic, she's obnoxious --
Jax: Yeah, which brings me to the next question -- why did you take her case?
Alexis: Because she saved my life in the fire and I owe it to her and, as a mother, I support her right to raise her children.
Jax: Wow, that sounds plausible. I might actually believe that if I hadn't seen the way she treated you this morning.
Alexis: You were her business partner. You know how she is.
Jax: Carly knows she's in control. You know, she seems quite certain that you won't quit no matter what she says or does.
Alexis: You know, it's part of the hazards of my job. People take out their anger on me all the time.
Jax: She's blackmailing you, isn't she?
Luke: Tracy will be back. Next time, kinky sex games aren't going to scare her away.
Skye: So what's the plan?
Edward: To prove I'm sane.
Luke: That means you're going to have to cough up every cent you own to pay off the lawsuits for the hotel fire.
Edward: Justus is a capable attorney. He'll find a legal solution that doesn't include locking me in a mental bin!
Skye: Grandfather, you know what? Why don't you just rest this afternoon. We'll work out the details, ok?
Luke: Hey, we don't have time for that.
Skye: The man's recovering from a heart attack.
Luke: And he could have another one if that barracuda offspring of his shows up and finds him here. We need a game plan now.
Justus: Tracy, I don't work for you. I'm not obligated to meet you every time you page me.
Tracy: Daddy is still missing.
Justus: And whose fault is that? Edward agreed to fake senility, not allow himself to be committed.
Tracy: Well, the longer he's out there, the saner he looks. I want him listed as a missing person and I want the police out searching.
Justus: Oh, come on. Edward isn't a criminal and you know it.
Tracy: No, but he is old and frail and deluded. And for his own safety and the good of his family, I would like him caught and put away.
Jax: Carly cannot be trusted. If you give in to her blackmail, you will be in more trouble.
Alexis: I'll handle it.
Jax: Can you handle Sonny, too? Because if he thinks he's going to lose his children, he will come after you and he will uncover whatever it is you're trying to hide. The man is ruthless. He has no conscience.
Alexis: Which is why he shouldn't be left alone with any children. Look, there's no love lost between Carly and I, but I need to do what I need to do to win this case, and I will win.
Jax: Well, whatever Sonny and Carly throw at you, you know you have my full support.
Carly: Alexis wants to use the breakdowns against Sonny.
Jason: You -- you told Alexis?
Carly: Sonny must have told her that he was abused as a little boy, and she wants to tell the court that statistically, children who are abused grow up to abuse their own children.
Jason: Carly, come on, Sonny would die before he'd hit a kid. You know that.
Carly: Yes, I do, Jason, which is exactly why I told her I would not under any circumstance allow her to use his childhood against him. She is not letting up. She has seen Sonny throw things and yell, and she wanted to know if Michael had witnessed it, as well, and I was trying to explain it to her. And before I knew it, she was --
Jason: Before you knew what? You knew exactly what you were doing, Carly.
Carly: Jason, Alexis wants to document these breakdowns. She wants to prove to the court that Sonny is unstable, and I won't let her! I want to protect Sonny. But I cannot lose my boys, and the only way this is going to work is if you tell the court that Michael and Morgan belong with me.
Jason: I will not betray Sonny.
Carly: Jason, how is it betrayal to tell them that Michael and Morgan should be with their mother? Jase, you can fix this. You can still protect Sonny and you can get me back my kids.
Jason: You -- you need to listen and understand, ok, because with the way things are going right now, you and Sonny could both lose those boys.
Carly: Now, that's not going to happen!
Jason: You can't let it happen, Carly! You guys don't understand! You and Sonny have to do whatever it takes to find a compromise! If you don't, Michael and Morgan are just going to grow up with something missing! You know how that feels, how it wrecks your life. Is that what you want for your boys?
Emily: You know, I wonder if Elizabeth will ever tell the baby about Zander.
Nikolas: What would she say?
Emily: Well, she could describe the good in him, you know, how he could be brave and funny, and -- and how he always wanted to go to Mexico but he never made it.
Nikolas: Hey. I'm really sorry that you lost someone you cared about.
Emily: You know, Ric was right in a way. You know, I did kill Zander. No, not physically. But little by little, Nikolas, I killed his hopes and his dreams and his belief in a love that could last forever.
Nikolas: You fell in love with me. Ok? You know that you can't blame yourself for the way Zander reacted to that.
Emily: No, but I could have tried to help him.
Nikolas: You did try. He couldn't accept it.
Emily: I know. But if I had just tried harder, Nikolas, if I had just been there, you know --
Nikolas: It's ok.
Emily: Well, now all I can do is make sure the real killer is brought to justice.
Ric: You knew I wanted Zander out of our lives. I knew he couldn't be trusted. I thought he was going to use the baby as leverage.
Elizabeth: Oh, wow, thank god it's all over now.
Ric: All I can think is how much relief I have that he can't manipulate us anymore.
Elizabeth: Strange, isn't it, all the trouble we went to to get Zander to sign away his parental rights, and turns out it's kind of all for nothing.
Ric: Yeah, well, we'll find out who really killed Zander, and then we can put it all behind us.
Elizabeth: We have so much to look forward to.
Ric: Yeah, which is why I want you to go back there and I want you to lie down and I want you to rest, ok? You got to take care of yourself, Elizabeth. All this stress is not good for the baby.
Elizabeth: Yes, Dr. Lansing.
Ric: Hey. I love you.
Elizabeth: I love you, too.
Elizabeth: All right.
Zander's voice: "Lansing -- by the time you get this, Elizabeth will have killed me. I think she should pay for that, don't you?"
>> On the next "General Hospital" --
Edward: Get away from her, you leech.
Ric: If there's something that you know about Zander's murder, just tell me.
Michael: Daddy's going to win. He always does.
Sam: You are a wonderful father.
Sonny: Thank you.
Lorenzo: Carly's custody hearing begins today. She has to win.
Carly: What have you done that I don't know about?
