Courtney: Why would I keep coming here a secret from Jason? I have nothing to hide from my husband.
Brian: Come on, Courtney. Everybody has something to hide.
Courtney: I came here because I was concerned about you, ok? I wanted to see if you were all right. Are you about to make me sorry for that?
Brian: I apologize. Getting shot just takes your brain to strange places. You start wondering about things like secrets and who has ulterior motives.
Courtney: You have them, too.
Brian: What does that mean?
Courtney: Oh, come on. The night that you went with me and Michael to Sonny's apartment -- you used that information that you found there to set up an ambush.
Brian: How do you know? Were you there when I was shot?
Jason: Sonny's hurting, with good reason, Carly. It's just -- you know what? The best thing you can do is just leave him alone right now.
Carly: Jason, I know I messed up, ok, but it's not in the way that Sonny thinks. I never slept with Lorenzo. I need to make Sonny believe this.
Jason: Well, you know what? You're going to have to wait. I don't think Sonny's going to be coming home tonight.
Sonny: You almost hit me in the damn head.
Sam: Yeah, I know. I figured it wouldn't hurt since it's so dense and thick.
Sonny: Ok, you don't like gifts? I'll remember that.
Sam: Don't bother, because I won't be around.
Sonny: Ok, you know what? You can leave if you want, but you're going to miss out on a lot by running scared.
Sam: I am not afraid of anything.
Sonny: Except the idea of actually needing someone?
Courtney: I don't know what you want from me, Brian. We were friends so Iím just supposed to be completely oblivious to the way that you have manipulated our personal connection to get evidence against Sonny and Jason? Your job is to put the people that I love in prison.
Brian: My job is to uphold the law. If Sonny and Jason weren't criminals, there wouldn't be a conflict, and for the record, I've never been dishonest about my feelings for you.
Courtney: Prove it. Admit that you used Michael and I as an excuse to get inside Sonny's apartment so you could scope it out.
Brian: If I did, would you be truthful, too? Would you tell me what you know about my shooting and how it happened?
Officer: Zander Smith, you're wanted at police headquarters for questioning.
Brian: What the hell are you doing here?
Carly: Jason, we both know how Sonny is when he is hurt, and right now he's got to be devastated. Come on, if you're not going to tell me where he is, then promise me you'll just go stay with him, ok?
Jason: That's not what Sonny wants.
Carly: How do you know? I mean, did he say that? Is he drinking, Jason? Does he have his gun with him? What if he tries to hurt himself? What if he tries to go after Alcazar again?
Jason: Alcazar -- Alcazar is safe, Carly, if that's what you're worried about.
Carly: Oh God, you are disappointed in me, aren't you? You wanted me to be a better wife for Sonny. Well, you know what? So did I! But there happened to have been this bullet that got lodged in my brain and it scrambled everything up, and I have been trying to fix that, Jason!
Jason: What, by running off to Alcazar every chance you get? Look, I understand that -- that you're worried about Sonny, ok, but you can't help him. Sonny has to do what he has to do right now. If that means acting out and getting a little crazy, well, you know what, Carly? You should understand that better than anyone, because that's exactly what you do. You know what? Maybe that's good; all the ways that you and Sonny are alike. You got two kids upstairs. Maybe that will be enough to bring you back together. But right now you're just going to have to sit still and wait for Sonny to come back to you.
Carly: I don't know if I can. Jason --
Jason: I'm not going to babysit you. I have to get to Courtney, and you know what, Carly, I'm not even going to tell you to stay here. If you love Sonny, you will let him be.
Sonny: Hey, you can leave if that's what you want to do, but I just -- I just want you to know that I wasn't offering to pay you for sex.
Sam: Ahem. Well, that's a relief.
Sonny: The thing is, I -- I enjoy your company in and out of bed, but I don't got much in the way of, you know -- I can't offer you commitment or emotional support. I mean, we're going to have sex, and it's going to be -- it's going to be great. And I can give you money, if that's -- but if you don't want it, that's fine. You know, more for me.
Sam: You're romantic. I'm sorry. Ok, I'm sorry. I overreacted. It's just that you were talking about setting me up and making me dependent, and I have never in my life depended on anyone for anything, and I'm not going to start now.
Sonny: I respect that. So you don't have to run out of here.
Sam: Do you think I was running from you?
Sonny: Maybe. I mean -- I don't know. Look, I think that you like me a little bit. It scares you. You're coming out of this heavy thing with Jax. The last thing you want to do is get mixed up with somebody else in a serious way, but that's what makes this perfect, because that's what I want, too. I'm not going to burden you with my needs, my expectations, my love. Love is not a possibility. Love has been burned right out of me. I got nothing left to give.
Brian: I had no idea Zander was even here.
Officer: Is there any reason he'd have a special interest in your condition?
Brian: Well, maybe he was waiting for an opportunity to approach Courtney.
Courtney: Me? I don't see why. I hardly know Zander.
Brian: Well, he has a past relationship with Sonny and Jason. Maybe he was hoping you could talk to them on his behalf. Look, in any event, he's not here now, so why don't you go on and help out with the search, all right? You're welcome.
Courtney: What? Did you do something that I'm supposed to be grateful for?
Brian: I was injured in a shootout between Sonny and Faith's men. That means that Zander and Jason were involved. Did you hear me mention your husband's name?
Jason: Let's go.
Brian: Jason, I was just telling Courtney how you were there when I was shot.
Jason: I got nothing to say without an attorney present. We're leaving.
Brian: I want you to stay. I have a lot I want to tell you.
Courtney: I'm glad you're ok.
Sage: If you pick me up at 7:30, Iíll try my best to be on time. Just as long as we're at the Port Charles hotel by 8:00, it shouldn't matter. We shouldn't be on time, anyway. There's nothing more pathetic than two people waiting in an empty room for a party to start.
Dillon: Sage, hey, maybe you didn't get the memo, but I didn't ask you to the winter formal. In fact, I didn't even agree to go.
Sage: Fine. But if you bail, you'll just be admitting that you're a hopeless geek with no prayer of competing with Georgieís Mr. Wonderful.
Dillon: Look, you know what? How many times have I said this to you? There is no Mr. Wonderful. He's a figment that she made up in order to make me jealous for being with you. Look, I don't know. This whole thing is getting so out of hand. I don't know what to do. The only way that I can think of ending it is just to say to you right now that --
Sage: Uncle Lorenzo!
Sage: Oh! I'm so glad you're home. Thank God. I have been so scared.
Lorenzo: No, I'm sorry I had to be gone so long, but I'm here now. Everything's going to be all right.
Operator: Port Charles hotel. How may I direct your call?
Carly: Mr. Corinthos' room, please.
Operator: One moment, please. I'll connect you.
Sam: I think someone's trying to call.
Sonny: Well, it must be a wrong number. Nobody knows Iím here.
Sam: Jason does.
[Phone stops ringing]
Sonny: Well, if you stick around a little bit, you'll get to know Jason. You'll understand that he has turned silence into an art form.
Sam: Oh, like the keeper of secrets?
Sonny: Yeah, every one.
Sam: Is that what I am? Am I your secret?
Sonny: Well, I'm not even sure if you're going to stay the night.
Sam: Why don't you remind me why I'd want to.
Sonny: Ahem, because we're both going through a lot right now. No one's making any promises. Either one of us can leave at any time. But since we're here, you know, it's better than being alone.
Georgie: I'm meeting someone.
Georgie: No, actually, Maxie. We're hair conferencing about how I should do mine tomorrow.
Dillon: Oh, so what does Tom think? Does he like your hair up? Down? Does he like with those little thingies in your hair or without that?
Georgie: It's not for you to worry about, and why are you interrogating me?
Dillon: You're right. That's exactly what I'm doing. I'm asking you questions to try to trip you up, but I'm going to stop that now. I'm going to stop beating around the bush, and I'm just going to come right out and say it.
Dillon: There is no Tom, is there? You made him up just to make me jealous.
Maxie: Hello? Is someone there? Zander --
Zander: Maxie, hi.
Maxie: What are you doing here?
Zander: Look, I'm in trouble. I need your help. If you don't help me, I'm going to die.
Lorenzo: So what have you been doing since Iíve been gone? I hope you didn't use my absence as an excuse to skip school.
Sage: I'll have you know my attendance record is perfect.
Lorenzo: Ah, that's my girl. So, are you enjoying Port Charles High?
Sage: It's not horrible. I've been putting forth the effort, trying to fit in with the right crowd. I'm even on the organizing committee for the winter formal.
Lorenzo: That's great, Sage. I'm very proud of you.
Sage: I'm going with Dillon.
Lorenzo: You don't seem very happy about that.
Sage: Why does everything have to be so confusing? I like Dillon more than any boy ever, but sometimes I wish Iíd never even met him.
Lorenzo: Hmm. Has he been mean to you?
Sage: Dillon doesn't have a mean bone in his body, which is amazing considering that mother of his. But I guess it's because I do like him so much that no matter what I do or how hard I try he just doesn't seem to care. He likes me, I think. Just not enough.
Lorenzo: Well, I've come to the conclusion that in order to find love you need to risk your heart. Sometimes you win; sometimes you donít, but it's better to have fought and to lose than to wonder what might have been.
Courtney: Hey, it's late. Maybe she's in bed. Who are you calling?
Jason: Whoever Carly did.
Operator: Port Charles Hotel.
Courtney: What's wrong?
Jason: Carly went after Sonny.
Singer: Tender tales of your sweet love written by a fool thought that it might last forever by following all your rules tears falling from my eyes was she everything you wanted? Betrayal haunts my mind was she everything you needed? But take me but take me, evening set me free well, it's so long Iíve been empty you let my world fall apart and now I'm drowning sinking far tears falling from my eyes was she everything you wanted?
Singer: By a fool thought that it might last forever by following all your rules tears falling from my eyes was she everything you wanted? Betrayal haunts my mind was she everything you needed? Take me take me, relieve me set me free well, it's so long Iíve been empty you let my world fall apart and now I'm drowning sinking far tears falling from my eyes was she everything you wanted?
Sam: What just happened?
Singer: Was she everything you needed?
Georgie: I cannot believe what you're saying to me. Why would I make up a boyfriend? Do you really think I'm that lame that no other guy could ever like me?
Dillon: That's not what Iím saying.
Georgie: Well, that's what I'm hearing.
Dillon: Look, I paid attention when we were together, ok? I know when you're hurt, and I really, really hurt you. I can't blame you for trying to get back at me. I mean -- and it worked, too. Do you know how much it kills me every time I think about you with another guy? Then I realized something -- that's all I have to do. That's all I have to do is think about it. I mean, I've never actually met Tom, but every time he's around, it's either on his cell phone or he's just leaving.
Georgie: So in other words, I'm a liar? Thank you, Dillon. Thank you very much. That's really nice.
Dillon: Hey, all Iím saying is that if Tom isn't real, now is the time to tell me before the stupid prom committee decides that they're going to crown you king and queen and finds out that they don't have a king.
Guy: That's not going to happen. Hi. Tom's looking forward to showing Georgie off at the winter formal. He told me about it just last night.
Zander: Look, I swear to you, Maxie. Look, I'm innocent, ok?
Maxie: Then why are you running from the cops, and why do you -- why do you have a gun?
Zander: Look, it's a long, very complicated story, but then I don't have time to get into it right now. I got cops and I got every faction of the mob after me -- Jason, Sonny, Alcazar -- they're all trying to kill me for something that I didn't even do!
Maxie: Well, what is it that you want from me?
Zander: I just -- I need some help, ok? I need you to help me to get out of the hospital and find a place to hide, ok? Please --
[Knock on door]
Maxie: Lucky. Hi. What are you doing here?
Lucky: Listen, I'm looking for Zander Smith. Have you seen him?
Maxie: Did he do something wrong?
Lucky: You could say that. Listen, Zander is a prime suspect in a cop shooting. We spotted him going to the hospital. It's possible that he tried to kill one of our detectives before he could identify Zander as a shooter.
Maxie: That didn't happen, though, right?
Lucky: No. He was spotted before he could do any damage.
Maxie: What about the cop?
Lucky: Fortunately, Detective Beck -- he's going to be ok, but you can see I'm talking about a very serious situation, so if you've seen Zander, I need to know about it.
Maxie: I havenít.
Lucky: Ok. If you do, you give me a call.
Maxie: Sure thing.
Zander: Ok, Maxie? Thank you. You literally just saved my life.
Maxie: I don't know why. Zander, my father is the police commissioner, and I just helped someone who shot a cop.
Zander: No, I didn't, ok? I'm being set up.
Maxie: You know what?
Zander: I just --
Maxie: Just leave me alone, ok? Just leave me alone.
Jason: Everything's taken care of. No one saw you. The gun you used has been destroyed, so there's no evidence that exists that ties you to Brianís shooting.
Courtney: Is this supposed to be the part where I thank you for covering my tracks?
Jason: No. I'm the one who has to say thank you, Courtney, you saved my life. And if you hadn't have fired when you did, Brian would have killed me.
Courtney: I love you, Jason, and I thank God that you're alive, but I just hate that any of it was necessary. I mean, the ambush, the gunfight, me having to shoot somebody. I could have killed Brian. I could have taken another person's life. You know what the most sorry part is? If that meant saving you, I would do it again, and that makes me just like you. Now, Iím counting on you. Itís easy.
Guy: By the way, I just saw Tom. He wants you to call him. He doesn't know what color flower you want for your hair.
Georgie: Well, you know, I told him at least three times, but I'll tell him again.
Dillon: Um -- I -- I owe you an apology. I'm sorry, I was -- I was way out of line. I can't wait to meet him.
Georgie: I can't wait to introduce you.
Georgie: You are an angel from heaven. You just saved me from having the most mortifying moment of my entire life.
Guy: I'm going to hazard a wild guess. There is no Tom?
Georgie: Actually, there is, but that's not his real name and I haven't met him yet.
Guy: I see.
Sage: Dillon, wait up. I'm so glad I caught you. My uncle said that we could use his car and driver for the winter formal -- that is, if you still want to go.
Dillon: Uh -- you know, I was -- I was a jerk before. Yes, yes, of course I'll -- of course I'll go with you. I'm just not -- I'm not, you know, good at that, so you might not have fun.
Sage: Hey, I know I dragged you into this, but I am so grateful that you're willing to put forth this effort.
Dillon: Sage Alcazar, you sound like you actually mean that.
Sage: If you're trying to pick a fight with me, don't bother. I am way too happy to rise to the bait. My Uncle Lorenzo is home and he's safe and all is right in my world.
Dillon: You were -- you were really scared for your uncle.
Sage: He's the only family I have. I would die if anything happened to him.
Dillon: Yeah, I know. I could have been a little more understanding, so --
Sage: Well, you had your own thing going on.
Dillon: Yeah, but I should have tried to be a better friend.
Sage: Well, you can make it up to me by being on time tomorrow and by doing something --
Dillon: No! No!
Sage: With this horrible, horrible hair of your!
Dillon: You know what?
Dillon: You are real funny. You know that? You're real funny.
Georgie: Hey, Maxie, Maxie, I just told Guy everything, and he said that he was going to help us find the real Tom before the formal. Our problems are solved!
Courtney: I don't know how you can be so casual about firing a gun. It's awful. It's deafening, and the way it just jumps in your hand.
Jason: Ok, hey. I just want you to stop -- just for a minute, and I want you to think about what really happened, ok? Brian has been lying to you for months, insinuating himself into your life, asking you out, playing the big hero for Michael, knowing this whole time he's working you for information to use against Sonny and me.
Courtney: Yeah, but, Jason, that's --
Jason: He came into this penthouse, Courtney. He performed an illegal search, and he arranged an ambush, ok? You didn't go to that alley with any intention of shooting Brian. You were in the moment, there was a gun, you picked it up, and the only reason that you fired it was to stop him from killing me. You haven't done anything wrong.
Courtney: You know, the sad thing is, is that you actually believe what you're saying.
Sam: Congratulations, Sonny. You are one hell of a liar. I thought I was good, but you got me beat all to hell. I had no clue that this whole thing was a setup, that the only reason why you slept with me was to get at your wife.
Sonny: Ok, well, Sam, you know what? I had no idea Carly was going to come here.
Sam: Yeah. Sure, you didn't. You probably called Jason and ordered him to drive her over here. You want revenge on your wife because she has feelings for another man. I get that. Cool.
Sonny: Ok --
Sam: You have a nice life.
Sonny: No, no, no, no, no. No, no. Listen. I'm not going to lie to you right now and say that Iím sorry that Carly saw us. But I did not arrange it, I have not lied to you at all yet, and Iím not lying to you right now when I say to you that I want you to stay.
Sonny: Because I am so tired of hurting and I hurt less when Iím with you.
Sam: Can you promise me one thing? Don't start believing in me. Don't expect me to be honest or ask me to trust, because the minute you do, the minute I look into your eyes and you see that Iím not the person that you hoped for, I am gone and I will never come back. Do you understand that?
Sonny: You can't possibly disappoint a man who doesn't expect anything. I've given up hope.
Sam: Ok. No more. We're perfect, then.
Carly: I -- I was hoping you'd be here. I -- I didn't want to go to your apartment, but I would have gone. I would have gone anywhere to be with you.
Lorenzo: What happened?
Carly: You were right. Sonny never loved me. I was -- I was just a possession to him, and I was just something that belonged to him -- wife, mother of his children, body in his bed. You know, I broke my heart over and over for him, and the one time I wanted him and needed him to believe in me --
Carly: You -- you said that you would be here --
Carly: And you said you'd be waiting for me no matter how long it took. Surprise -- it didn't take that long. I mean, if you still want me, I'm here.
Lorenzo: Hey -- but you need to understand, this isn't about a competition with Sonny or revenge, yours or mine. I want you in my life. I want you to love me back.
Carly: There's nothing wrong with wanting love to last.
Carly: And I want that, too.
Guy: It's logical to assume Tom goes to one of the other high schools?
Georgie: Kennedy, maybe.
Guy: Or Central or College Collegiate. He's probably a junior or a senior, and fortunately, you have a picture of him.
Georgie: Yeah, a computer composite?
Guy: It is what he looks like, right?
Georgie: Exactly, like the guy I saw outside the window.
Guy: Then we'll track him down.
Georgie: But there isn't much time. The dance is tomorrow night.
Guy: We'll work fast.
Georgie: I don't know how I can ever thank you. You are saving my life. Isn't he, Maxie? Hello! Earth to Maxie! Can you focus long enough to thank Guy for solving our problem?
Maxie: Do you ever listen to yourself, Georgie? You're worried about a date for a dance. There obviously are no lives at stake here.
Maxie: I told you to leave me alone.
Zander: I know, I know. I'm sorry, ok? But I have nobody else to turn to, ok? If I don't get to hide somewhere for a while, Iím dead, ok? Please, Maxie, just help me one more time.
Ric: How you feeling?
Brian: The doctors say Iíll make a full recovery.
Ric: Glad to hear it.
Lucky: So far, no luck.
Brian: What's going on?
Lucky: We put an A.P.B. on the suspect in your shooting.
Ric: Yeah, if we can get a positive I.D., we can get an arrest warrant. Any luck remembering who shot you?
Brian: Actually, I have.
Ric: This the man?
Brian: That's him. He was here earlier trying to get at me. Zander Smith's my shooter.
Courtney: Firing a gun is a part of your job, Jason, but it is not a normal course of action for me. It doesn't make it ok that Brian lied to me first or that I was protecting you. It doesn't justify what I did. You know, I used to hate feeling like I was outside your life looking in; the distance, it hurt me. It made me angry because I wanted to share everything with you. I resented you for trying to protect me, and now I wish that you had been able to. Oh God, I just wish that I had never become a part of this life.
Jason: Well, you don't have to be. You can walk away clean. Nothing ties you to the shooting tonight.
Courtney: Except the memory, and that's not going to go away.
Jason: It'll fade.
Jason: Go ahead. You're free. You're free to go and never look back.
Courtney: Except Iím not. I promised Carly that I was going to look after those children. Those poor guys, I mean -- Jason, Michael and Morgan are prisoners of this life every bit as much as we are.
singer: I go wild 'cause you break me open wild 'cause you left me here I go wild 'cause your promises are broken wild, because the chips are down wild, because there isn't anybody else around wild, when the waves start to break and God knows they're breaking in me now I go wild because it doesn't make sense for me to cry out in my own defense go wild because I will do anything to tear you off your precious fence so this is what it's like livin' in limbo first, Iím high then Iím solo I go wild 'cause you break me open wild 'cause you left me here I go wild 'cause your promises are broken wild when I know you're near I go wild I go wild tell me what you've come for movin' like a hunter through my back door leaving the perfume of all you adore to die nameless on my floor yeah, well, we both know that you don't play fair I guess you really think that you get me there let's be honest perhaps this little ride is too much for even you to bear you've got some nerve to come back here you're not the only one who can smell fear I go wild tell me what you've come here for come here for what is it you adore? Won't you tell me? I go wild wild, wild, wild I go wild wild, wild, wild
>> On the next "General Hospital" --
Georgie: Why are you following me?
Zander: I got to figure out who shot that cop. It's my only chance to survive.
Courtney: Zander is going to be prosecuted for a crime that I committed, and I can't let that happen.
Lorenzo: I want your love when you're ready to give it.
Carly: I slept with Lorenzo last night.
Sonny: You're dead to me.
