Emily: We must be insane, Zander. Do you realize how late it is?
Zander: Oh, well, we might as well be a little nuts. We're newlyweds.
Zander: Just come back from a romantic moonlit walk in the woods behind our very first home.
Emily: Rented home.
Zander: For now. One day when I start making a little more money, I'm going to buy this place, build a gazebo out back where we can sit out under the stars. You like gazeboes, right?
Emily: What woman doesn't?
Zander: That's what I thought. I can see you out there writing in your journal in one of those beautiful, long, flowy summer dresses that you like, looking amazing.
Emily: Yeah, I like it.
Zander: Hmm. We're going to be ridiculously happy here.
Emily: Oh, Zander, I'm just a little curious. Why here in particular?
Zander: Well, I mean, it's perfect. It's isolated, it's quiet, surrounded by woods.
Emily: How about Nikolas used to live here?
Nikolas: Alexis. I had no idea you were even back. Why didn't you call me?
Alexis: I planned to, Nikolas.
Nikolas: Did you find out anything? All right, don't say anything. It's all over your face. Darius isn't blackmailing anybody because he's dead, and my uncle is as responsible for his death as he is for Summer's. You can go ahead and stop me whenever you think I'm wrong.
Alexis: Guilt or innocence have nothing to do with this.
Lydia: Excuse me? How would that work, exactly?
Nikolas: It means that my aunt here is going to see that my uncle goes free whether she believes he's a murderer or not.
Courtney: Where the hell do you get off accusing me of anything after everything that you have done?
Ric: Well, I'm a lawyer, Courtney. See, I tend to look at situations like a puzzle, you know, which pieces fit. You were very upset and very hurt the night Elizabeth was hit because I had told you that I thought the two of them were getting back together again behind your back, and then lo and behold, Elizabeth gets hit by a car. And now you're creeping around the hospital. You're offering sympathy and a helping hand to somebody you don't necessarily like, and all the while you seem to be grilling Elizabeth to find out information if she can identify you as the person who hit her and left her there to die in the street in cold blood. I mean, does this sound familiar? Get off me!
Jason: Hey! You got a problem with Courtney? You talk to me.
Sonny: What do you know about me, Carly? I hate when you lie. I go deaf, I go blind, I don't hear your explanations, I can't see that you still love me. All I know is the woman who swore that I can trust just proved that I can't. Don't do this to me. Don't take this back to that place where I cannot look at you. You left the club, you ditched the guards, and you went somewhere where you didn't want Johnny to take you. Why?
Carly: I went to see Alcazar.
[Knock on door]
Lorenzo: Julian. Come in.
Julian: Keep in mind I need steady hands to do my job, and that usually requires a good solid eight hours.
Lorenzo: No rest for the wicked. It's good to see you again.
Julian: And, you, my friend.
Lorenzo: May I offer you a drink?
Julian: After you tell me why I'm here in the middle of the night.
Lorenzo: Take a look.
Julian: Sonny Corinthos?
Lorenzo: You know him?
Julian: I've read things.
Lorenzo: You're about to read a lot more. You need to absorb everything in this file. You're going to help me destroy him.
Jason: You don't speak to Courtney that way, ever.
Ric: I want to find out the truth. I want justice for my wife.
Jason: What, you want to solve the big mystery so Elizabeth will take you back?
Ric: Did you have something to do with this, Jason?
Jason: Ok, Ric, I'm going to say this once. Courtney didn't run Elizabeth down. She was on a plane with me that night. So this ends here. I'm going to let you go. Be smart and walk away.
Jason: Was he right? You were trying to find out what Elizabeth remembers?
Jason: Are you afraid that it's going to implicate you?
Jason: I thought we got past this.
Courtney: I can't help it, Jason. I can't stop thinking of the possibility that I may be guilty. I had to follow up. And Elizabeth, she did remember something.
Jason: Did she see you?
Courtney: She saw a flash of the car. She thinks the car was blue.
Courtney: You know anyone you can reach out and touch right now who drives a blue car?
Jason: Yeah, you and millions of other people.
Courtney: Yeah, unfortunately, I was speeding in the street where Elizabeth was hit, out of my mind on pills. And, Jason, all the millions of cars, whose car conveniently gets stolen?
Jason: Courtney, your car was stolen.
Courtney: No, no. No, it's too many coincidences. Jason, if you know something and you are holding back to protect me, I am asking you not to. Did you get rid of my car because you knew I'd hit Elizabeth?
Jason: No, no. You got to stop torturing yourself.
Courtney: I don't know how.
Jason: I do. You need proof to let yourself off the hook. I'm going to get it for you.
Sonny: Were you in Alcazar's apartment when Jason and I were there?
Sonny: You hid from your husband in another man's apartment?
Carly: I was trying to help Courtney here. I --
Sonny: What if -- ok, wait, wait, wait. What does Courtney have to do with you lying to my face and meeting a man you know who wants you?
Carly: You know, Alcazar, he sent me --
Sonny: You're trying to get some attention from him? Is that what's going on here? So you encourage this man by going to his house and lying to your husband about where you were? Is that what's happening?
Carly: Courtney is the one who hit Elizabeth!
Sonny: Who cares!
Carly: Alcazar had her car stolen. He sent me a picture of her car with the front end smashed in, and that is the only reason that I went to meet him.
Lorenzo: What do you think?
Julian: Intriguing plan -- the past repeats itself.
Lorenzo: A never-ending cycle. Can you do it?
Julian: Well, you wouldn't have called if you'd had any doubts.
Lorenzo: You've always been impressively creative in our past endeavors, but those pale in comparison to this. I have a great deal to gain if this is successful.
Julian: I understand.
Lorenzo: No margin for error, no loose ends, and most importantly, none of this can be tied back to me.
Julian: When do you want me to get started?
Lorenzo: You already have.
Alexis: I'm an attorney who's taken on a job as a legal consultant, and it's incumbent upon me to do everything that I can to ensure my client's acquittal.
Lydia: I get that, if your client is actually innocent. If he's guilty as sin, can't you fall back on your job as a human being and not let him get away with literal murder?
Alexis: Forgive me for being blunt, but this doesn't concern you, Lydia.
Lydia: The hell it doesn't. If he gets out of jail, I'm the next notch on some cliff rock.
Alexis: I have my reasons for doing this, and they're personal. It's a family matter.
Lydia: Which is double talk for Stefan's using something against you just like he does everybody else.
Nikolas: We're your family, too, Alexis. If my uncle's threatening you, I can make it stop, but my hands are tied unless you tell me what's going on.
Alexis: You know me well enough to know that I have my reasons for doing what I'm doing.
Nikolas: Alexis, you know what? You've always been the one Cassadine with a set of principles that made sense, the one with a soul. And let me tell you, if you turn that over to my uncle, I can guarantee you two things. It'll be very difficult for you to face yourself in the mirror and you'll have to answer to me.
Zander: Well, Emily, I -- I rented this house for a lot of reasons. I mean, the rent's more than doable, it was available right away, we got a sweet deal. And, I mean, yeah, I mean, the thought of living husband and wife in a place that Nikolas used to own, I mean, it crossed my mind.
Emily: But why does it matter, Zander?
Zander: It doesn't. That's the point. This house is perfect for us, and I did not want the fact that Nikolas used to live here keep us away.
Emily: That's very enlightening of you, Zander.
[Zander and Emily laugh]
Zander: You think so?
Emily: I love you. I hope you know that.
Zander: If I don't, all I got to do is look in those beautiful eyes of yours. So, hey, wife, you tired?
Emily: Not too. Why?
Zander: Well, there's some wine in the kitchen.
Zander: So maybe some cheese and crackers. I was thinking I could light a fire and you could stare at it while I stare at you.
Emily: Zander --
Zander: Our first official phone call. Do you mind?
Emily: Oh, God, knock yourself out.
[Affected accent] Mr. And Mrs. Smith's residence.
[Normal voice] You sound terrible. What's wrong with you?
Elizabeth: Ok, now what?
Woman: Ok, we'll try a few steps.
Elizabeth: You know what? I -- this feels really weird.
Woman: Keep the tip of the cane on the ground about two or three feet in front of you, ok, and swing it back and forth from one side of your body to the other.
Woman: And as you step with your right foot, you're going to tap to the left and vice versa.
Elizabeth: Ok. Mm-hmm. Oh -- oh, you know what? I -- I can't do this. I don't -- I can't, I can't do it.
Woman: Of course you can. It takes practice, but you'll get the hang of it. Ok, try it again, Mrs. Lansing.
Elizabeth: Stop calling me that. Ok, my name is Elizabeth Webber, and if you really want to help me, just show me how to hold a paintbrush and create in the dark.
Woman: I realize that this is a difficult adjustment, probably one of the hardest ones you'll ever make, and --
Elizabeth: Here, just take this, take this. I don't want to do this anymore. Oh.
Carly: Listen, after I left the club, I went to meet Alcazar on the elm street pier. He told me that he saw Courtney in the park the night that Elizabeth was hit. He said she was upset. So he went to follow her. He claims that he saw her run Elizabeth down.
Sonny: And you believe him? Huh?
Carly: He offered to get rid of the car so there'd be no proof. I didn't believe him, so I took the car myself.
Sonny: You're afraid to drive.
Carly: I know, sonny, but Courtney, she lost her baby because of me, trying save my life, so the least I could do is cover up an accident she doesn't even remember having.
Sonny: Where's the car now? Where's the car now?
Carly: It's at the bottom of the lake, below Salisbury Point.
Sonny: You drove the car to Salisbury Point and pushed it off?
Carly: I drove it to the edge where it starts to get steep. I put the car in neutral, and I released the emergency brake. I figured it would just roll down on its own, and it did, sonny. But I slipped.
Sonny: You fell?
Carly: Yeah, I fell. I --
Carly: Slipped, ok? The dirt, it was loose and I just -- I couldn't get my footing, and I was trying to reach up, and I screamed, and then Alcazar, he pulled me up. He said he followed me because he didn't -- he wanted to make sure I was ok. I didn't want this.
Carly: This -- you, how you're looking at me, how upset you are, how mad, how scared. So I went to Alcazar's apartment to get cleaned up, and then you and Jason walked in and I -- I hid --
Carly: Because I didn't know what to do at that point.
Sonny: So you're grateful to Alcazar, right? So you wanted to protect Alcazar --
Carly: No, I wanted to protect Courtney.
Carly: Sonny, you heard her. You heard her talking about the pills. You heard how ashamed she is. And if she heard that she was the one who hit Elizabeth, she'd be devastated.
Sonny: And your solution was to cover it up, to keep a secret with the man who kidnapped you?
Sonny: You risked your life and our child's instead of telling me and knowing that I could handle it!
Carly: I didn't want you to tell Jason.
Sonny: I'm going to tell Jason!
Carly: You know, why? Don't you think that Courtney has had enough? Don't you think she's hurting enough? Jason's going to go to her, he's going to tell her, and then she's going to punish herself. Sonny, I love you. I love you, and I don't want to keep any secrets from you. But Courtney, she's like a little sister to me, and when Alcazar sent me that picture -- I'm sorry. I didn't think any further ahead than keeping my little sister safe.
Jason: Hey. I need to speak to Sonny.
Sonny: This about Courtney?
Jason: Yeah. All right, look, I know you guys are in the middle of something. I'll just handle this myself.
Sonny: No, no. You know what? We were talking about Courtney just now. Alcazar claims he saw her hit Elizabeth.
Lorenzo: Well, I'm not easy to surprise, but you managed it nicely. What could be so important that you came to me, with a storm brewing, no less?
Courtney: I need the truth.
Lorenzo: From me?
Courtney: Unfortunately, it's my only choice. Remember when you found me in the park?
Courtney: I need to know who I was that night and what I did.
Woman: Are you all right?
Elizabeth: Aside from being embarrassed, I'm -- I'm fine, and I owe you an apology.
Woman: Not at all.
Elizabeth: It's pretty obvious I'm not in the right state of mind, though, to be doing this sightless therapy.
Ric: Nobody's expecting you to get it overnight.
Elizabeth: You. What are you doing? God, Ric, what are you --
Ric: It's -- it's ok, really. I'm Ric Lansing. I'm her husband. Can you give us a couple of minutes, please?
Elizabeth: Why are you everywhere? Why? Why? Why can't you just leave me alone?
Ric: Believe me, Elizabeth, I wish I could. I know that's what you want and -- truthfully, sometimes I want it, too, but unfortunately for the both of us, I happen to love you, and that means I want to be here for you. I want to be able to catch you if you fall, if you would just let me.
Elizabeth: I don't want anything to do with your pity or your guilt ever again. I would rather stay blind.
Ric: No, you can't possibly hate me any more than I hate myself. I gave up on me so thoroughly that I was prepared to die. I thought it was preferable to life without you.
Elizabeth: And yet here you stand.
Ric: That's right, because I realized I was wrong. Elizabeth, life is worth fighting for, no matter how difficult it might get from time to time.
Elizabeth: Hmm. Not a life like this one.
Ric: Oh, right, I forgot. Poor Elizabeth -- everybody's favorite victim.
Elizabeth: What did you say?
Ric: You must really like this role because you keep casting yourself in it.
Elizabeth: How dare you --
Ric: No, no, no, don't let me get in the way, ok? By all means, you just go right ahead. You do what you do best. You wallow in self-pity. I thought you were the strongest person that I ever knew, far stronger than I could ever be. I guess I was wrong.
Lorenzo: I found you alone in the park. You seemed distracted and angry, in pain, most of which you attributed to me. I offered to take you home. You told me what you thought of me in no uncertain terms and refused.
Courtney: I had pills --
Lorenzo: You spilled your purse. I found the pills and gave them back to you.
Courtney: What happened next?
Lorenzo: You stormed off. I followed you to the edge of the park to make sure you were all right. And you got into a car and took off like a bat out of hell.
Courtney: North, right? Do you remember?
Lorenzo: No. East. May I ask what this is about?
Lorenzo: Before you go, I honestly regret anything you've suffered because of me. Not that I'd believe you'd allow it, but you need to know, if you ever need my help --
Courtney: I'd like to go now.
Sonny: Alcazar claims he saw Courtney hit Elizabeth, and he stole the car to get rid of the evidence.
Jason: Well, what'd he do with the car?
Sonny: You're not going to like this, but he gave it to Carly, and she drove it off Salisbury Point about two hours ago.
Jason: She -- you rolled the car into a lake, Carly? What the hell are you thinking?
Jason: What about the baby?
Carly: Ok, you know what? Sonny already told me that I'm stupid and I'm not a good mother. I don't need to hear it from you again!
Jason: You're not a bad mother, ok? You always say you're not going to do this. You take these chances, you swear it's the last time, but it's never the last time. What if something happened to you?
Sonny: The point is the car's gone.
Jason: Well, Courtney wants me to find the car.
Sonny: What do you mean?
Jason: She had a nightmare. She thinks it means that she hit Elizabeth.
Carly: Well, you told her she didn't, right?
Jason: You told me she did.
Carly: Well, she doesn't have to know, Jason.
Jason: Yes, she does.
Carly: Courtney has been through enough. She's hurting badly enough. Why do we need to tell her another thing? Telling her the truth is not going to make Elizabeth see. It's not going to fix anything. It's only going to devastate Courtney. Come on, Jase, don't do it. Just don't hurt her like this.
Courtney: Hey. You been waiting long?
Jason: No, no, not really.
Courtney: I was a couple blocks away when you called me.
Jason: Alcazar lives a couple blocks away.
Courtney: Yeah, I went to see him.
Courtney: Jason, he saw me in the park that night, you know? I told you we had a fight. I -- just I wanted to see if I seemed out of it or if he saw me drive away.
Jason: And what did he say?
Courtney: Well, that I was upset and that I drove east.
Jason: That's funny, because Alcazar told Carly something totally different.
Lorenzo: Bring her in.
Woman: Wow. Some place.
Lorenzo: Glad you approve. My name is Lorenzo.
Woman: I know.
Lorenzo: You do?
Woman: I read the papers.
Lorenzo: Hmm. Well, since you know my name, it's only fair that I know yours.
Lorenzo: Nice to meet you.
Marcella: Same here.
Lorenzo: You should know that I picked you very, very carefully.
Marcella: Cool. But with all due respect, this transaction is cash upfront, no matter who you are.
Lorenzo: Of course. Would you care for champagne?
Marcella: Only if it's the good stuff. Just kidding. I mean, what else would it be, right? Oh, by the way, I don't do bondage or anything that leaves marks.
Lorenzo: It won't be a problem.
Marcella: Holy Moses. This is more money than I've seen -- well, forever. There must be a catch. So what is it?
Lorenzo: It's not what. Who.
Sonny: You actually think you can trust Alcazar?
Sonny: No, I -- no, don't tell me what you think I want to hear. I want to know what you feel.
Carly: I know that Alcazar's not going to hurt me or the baby or Michael, he's not going to physically hurt us. I don't know. Maybe Alcazar doesn't know, maybe he doesn't care how much I hate fighting with you, how much -- God, how much I hate feeling like a failure because I wasn't enough or because I made the wrong decision.
Sonny: Why is it -- why is it always your last impulse to trust me?
Carly: It's not. Look, I told you why I did this, and if you don't believe me, I don't know what --
Sonny: No, I -- ok, hold on. Wait, I believe -- ok, I believe that you were trying to protect Courtney. But for all you know, Alcazar could have stolen that car, banged it up to try to convince you of something that happened when it didn't.
Carly: You're right, Alcazar manipulated me. But I'm fine. The baby's fine. The car is gone. Can't we just let it all just end right there?
Sonny: No, it can't just end right there.
Alexis: This has to be understood. You and I have never had this conversation.
Zander: Ok. What's going on?
Alexis: Ned has been set up. Stefan sicced some underage girl on him. She's claiming that he raped her.
Zander: What? Why would Stefan do something like that?
Alexis: Because has no conscience. And because I made the mistake of asking him to help me get custody of my daughter. His solution was to discredit Ned, and I don't have the stomach for it.
Zander: Well, why don't you just tell Ned what's going on?
Alexis: I can't. Stefan's been very thorough. He set me up. There's a paper trail that leads back to me.
Zander: What can I do?
Alexis: You're smart, you're savvy, and you move in the circles that I want to infiltrate. Her name is Cindy Holmes. She's 18. She can pass for younger. She is smart, she is savvy, she is suspicious, and she's a convincing liar.
Zander: Tell me what you want me to do.
Alexis: I want you to hook up with her. She lives in the neighborhood. She may eat here. She may move through the docks on her way to a gym. I want you to tie her to Stefan, expose her for the fraud that she is without making her a sacrificial lamb. If this lands on me, you know how detrimental this will be to my daughter. I am painfully aware that I have no right to ask you to do this, but I have nowhere else to turn.
Zander: Consider it done, ok? Alexis, you took me in when I first came to this town. I owe you. And Ned just gave me a bunch of money to rent a place, so I owe him, too.
Alexis: You need to be careful because if Stefan finds out about this, you will be in danger and so will Emily.
Alexis: I was right from the beginning. Emily was the target, not Summer. He wanted Emily out of the way so that Nikolas would marry Lydia.
Alexis: Zander, you need to let me handle Stefan. You just protect Emily and you just be glad that she's not with Nikolas.
Emily: It worked. The lights are on. Hey.
Nikolas: I changed a couple of -- a couple of fuses. The breaker should hold.
Nikolas: The main fuse box is just inside the cellar door. By the way, I always kept it locked.
Emily: Ok. Thanks. You know, I'm sure Zander would have figured out how to open it, but he had to go out and I figured, you know, since you used to live here that --
Nikolas: Stop explaining why you called. I'm happy I could help you. Now, come on, you're freezing. Get away from the door.
Emily: All right.
Nikolas: Here. Here you go.
Nikolas: All right?
Nikolas: Ok, I'll tell you what -- I'll get a fire going for you before I leave, ok? How's that?
Emily: Ok. Thanks. That'd be nice.
Nikolas: How are you feeling?
Emily: Well, you know, I'm sure it has to do with getting out of the hospital, but I feel better than I have in, I don't know, what feels like forever. I mean, I tire easily, but there are no signs of the meningitis.
Emily: And if they -- if they find a new chemo treatment that works for me, I think I'll be around a lot longer than I thought.
Nikolas: Told you.
Emily: Yes, you did.
Emily: On the -- on the table.
Nikolas: Oh, here we go. Thanks.
Nikolas: All right, there you go. The lights are on. The fire's going. Looks like you have everything you need. I should go, unless you can think of a reason for me to stay.
Nikolas: It's ok. It's ok.
Lydia: Trying to call Emily?
Zander: I'm trying to call and tell her I'm on my way home. The storm must have knocked out the phone lines.
Lydia: Yeah, your power's out, too.
Zander: How would you know something like that?
Lydia: Your wife called my husband to come out and turn it back on. Didn't take them long, did it?
Emily: Hey, the phones are out, too.
Nikolas: Yeah, I figured as much.
Emily: Look at you, Nikolas. You're soaked again.
Nikolas: No. I'm all right.
Emily: No, you're not, and you're certainly not going back out there for a while. I mean, it could start raining at any second. Wait it out with me.
Nikolas: Ok, thanks.
Emily: Here. Here you go.
Emily: You know, I -- I have a confession I probably shouldn't make.
Nikolas: And now you have to.
Emily: When I told Zander that he pulled me back when I felt my life slipping away, I lied. It was you, Nikolas. I know it was only a dream or something --
Nikolas: I had the same one.
Nikolas: I kissed you, and you were back with me. Don't you see? That's how connected we are, Emily. Don't you see that?
Woman: It's getting late. Can I take you back to your room?
Elizabeth: No. Marty, I know you might find this hard to believe, but I really do appreciate your help. And if it's ok with you, I would like to use that cane myself.
Lorenzo: Does your family realize what you do?
Marcella: I don't have a family anymore.
Lorenzo: Well, this represents a substantial investment on my part. I need to know if you'll follow through.
Marcella: I will do exactly what you want, Mr. Alcazar, exactly the way you want.
Lorenzo: Good. Then there's someone who'd like to meet you. Julian. Julian, I'd like you to meet Marcella. What do you think?
Julian: She'll do fine.
Lorenzo: She has to be better than fine. She needs to be perfect, or this will never work.
Jason: Courtney, I just need you to listen to me, ok? I need you to try to hear me and what I'm saying without making any kind of assumptions.
Courtney: Just tell me.
Jason: Ok. Alcazar sent Carly a picture of your car with the front end smashed.
Courtney: Oh, my God. I did it, didn't I? I hit --
Jason: No, now, just -- just hold on, hold on. Then Alcazar gave the car to Carly, and Carly ran it into a lake, ok, so there's no way to prove what happened. Alcazar could have taken the car himself and he could have smashed it.
Courtney: No, he must have seen me. He must have followed me. I just -- he must have seen me drive away and -- but not East like he said, right? North. Is that what he told Carly? Please, Jason, just tell me.
Jason: Alcazar claims that he saw you hit Elizabeth and you kept driving.
Courtney: Oh, my God. How could I do it? How?
Jason: It's going to be ok. Courtney, I promise, I'm going to fix this for you.
Sonny: I always figure out when you're lying, because I used to lie the same way -- to protect the people I love, to keep them from getting hurt, you know. But in the end, the lie, you know, hurts the worst. Sometimes it can kill you. Maybe it's just the business I'm in, you know. I mean, if you're plumber, an accountant, you don't need to trust because your life isn't at stake. Mine is. So is yours. I could have lost you and the baby tonight because I didn't know where you were, because you lied. Yeah. It can't keep happening.
Carly: I understand.
Sonny: Just so you know, I didn't -- you know, I don't think you're stupid or a bad mother. It's just that you -- I was worried, I was mad. You scared the hell out of me, and I don't handle it well.
Max: We sent someone down to Salisbury Point to make sure there was no evidence. It's too late. The cops found Courtney's car.
>> On the next "General Hospital" --
Ric: I know who ran Elizabeth down with her car and then left her in the street to die.
Emily: I want you, Nikolas.
Zander: Emily loves me. She'd never cheat on me.
Faith: What do you want?
Lorenzo: All kinds of things. We share a common enemy.
[Pounding on door]
Scott: Open up,
Corinthos. We have a warrant for your sister's arrest.
