Emily: We can't be together. It's not fair to Zander.

Nikolas: You have to follow your heart.

Zander: I love you. Will you marry me?

Lorenzo: Backgammon. Do you play?

Carly: Is it a betting game?

Lorenzo: It can be.

Scott: Elizabeth rolled over on you. Where's Ric?

Sonny: You should have died on these steps. Better late than never.

Ric: No, Sonny -- ah!

Zander: Emily, will you be my wife?

Emily: Oh, Zander.

Zander: I want to make you happy. I want us to spend the rest of our lives together. I want you to take this ring. It means that I want to love you as long as -- as long as we can, and that's forever.

Emily: Oh, Zander. This is so wonderful of you.

Emily: But I'm sorry. I can't accept it.

Nikolas: We might as well get married this week. It'll guarantee we get the inheritance, which is the whole point, isn't it, Lydia?

Lydia: This week? I'd assumed you wanted to put this off as long as possible.

Nikolas: My uncle didn't mention the codicil in your grandfather's will?

Lydia: A codicil? Stefan might have mentioned something about it. I try to ignore him as much as possible, so I probably wasn't paying attention. Oh, well. Look on the bright side -- this means we'll be trapped in a prison of limitless money and hot sex. Things could be worse.

Nikolas: When did he tell you about the codicil, Lydia?

Lydia: I'm not sure. Um -- earlier this evening maybe? I told you, I try to ignore him as much as possible.

Nikolas: Well, maybe you shouldnít. My uncle is a master strategist. He understands the importance of timing -- for example, how this codicil magically appeared right after I told you how I felt about Emily.

Lydia: Are you saying that I had something to do with that codicil?

Stefan: Good, you're both here. Well, if we're going to get you married by the end of the week, I think we'd best get on with the arrangements.

Nikolas: There's a flaw in your strategy.

[Lorenzo hums]

Carly: If Sonny agreed to move product in exchange for setting me free, he will do it. He is an honorable man.

[Lorenzo chuckles]

Carly: Hmm.

Lorenzo: Is he as ruthless as you are?

Carly: Hmm. No, I pale in comparison.

Lorenzo: Somehow, I doubt that.

Carly: So, Mr. Alcazar, how long are --

Lorenzo: Please. From now on, call me Lorenzo.

Carly: Ok. From now on, you can call me Mrs. Corinthos.

Lorenzo: Thank you.

Carly: Trouble?

Lorenzo: The captain keeps me updated on GPS coordinates -- our course and location. Nothing to be concerned with. Ah. You got me boxed in here.

Carly: Well, I pick up the rules of the game quickly and then I play by them. So does my husband. And if he gave you his word, if he agreed to something, he will stick to it. It's a code that he lives by.

Lorenzo: So, if I were to let you go home, Sonny would give me what I want?

Carly: Yeah, he would.

Lorenzo: Somehow I don't think you're naive enough to believe that and I am definitely not. It's your turn, Mrs. Corinthos.

Jason: Go ahead, keep searching. You know Ric's not here.

Scott: You look terrible. Is this your first murder up close and personal?

Jason: Leave her alone.

Scott: So what happened to Lansing, huh? Jason kill him in front of you, or did Sonny drag him off somewhere because he didn't want to get his carpets all bloody? Huh? Bet you're not feeling good. So, come on -- tell me what's going on.

Courtney: I haven't seen Ric here or anywhere else, Scott, but I hope he burns in hell for what he's done to Carly.

Jason: Hey, you searched the penthouse. You know Ricís not here. Get out.

Faith: Where is Sonny and what has he done with Ric?

Scott: You're too late, Faith. Lansing is dead. Sonny's last chance to save Carly just died.

[Ric groans]

Sonny: What do you say, little brother? You want to take another trip down the stairs? Huh? I can keep hauling you back up as many times as it takes. And I can watch you fall over and over again until your neck --

Ric: Oh!

Sonny: Finally snaps --

Ric: Oh.

Sonny: And you die just like you should have before you were born.

Ric: Ah. When you pushed our mother down the stairs?

Sonny: That was an accident!

Ric: Oh!

Sonny: How many times do I got to tell you that? Not like you -- get up!

Ric: Ah!

Sonny: I'm sick of this -- get up. Get up! When I hurt somebody, I mean to. And once I do, I own it, just like I'm going to own your death. I'm going to kill you. But first, I want you to understand how wrong you were, how every sick, pathetic thing you did to me, to my wife was payback for a lie you told yourself. You want a family, little brother? Well, you got one. I'm going to teach you all the reasons why you deserve to die.

Emily: I want to marry you, Zander, but not while I'm dealing with the cancer.

Zander: Em, it doesn't make a difference, ok?

Emily: It does to me. I don't want our new life together to be about hospitals and appointments and treatments. Ok? When we get married, I want to be past all that. I want to be cancer-free. If you still want to offer me the ring then, I promise Iíll accept it.

Zander: There's no "if," Em. I love you and I want to marry you. That's today, that's tomorrow. That's with cancer, that's without cancer. As long as you say yes. I said I love you forever. I meant it.

Stefan: That codicil is authentic and iron-clad. If you don't marry Lydia by the end of the week, you'll be throwing away your family's future. Is that what you want?

Nikolas: I want honesty, for once. Instead, Iím getting more lies and strategies. You were afraid that I would back out, refuse to marry Lydia, so you fabricated an insurance policy.

Stefan: I found that codicil through simple due diligence.

Nikolas: You knew the sooner you got me married to Lydia, the sooner the Cassadines would get their -- oh, wait, I'm sorry. You're still waiting on your share, as well, aren't you? I'm sure that's why you agreed to go along with this.

Lydia: As far as I know, that codicil is real.

Nikolas: You didn't question it?

Lydia: No.

Nikolas: Well, then again, why would she? Right? I mean, it gets her what she wants months ahead of schedule, and if you had any doubts, I'm sure my uncle reassured you because he can be very convincing. Besides, what's one more lie, more or less, especially when it guarantees that I won't back out on my way to the altar? Congratulations, Uncle. Congratulations. Excellent strategy. Unfortunately, it backfired.

Lorenzo: I don't believe for a second that Sonny would let me move my product through his territory if I didn't have you for leverage, and neither do you. But I admire your tenacity in trying to convince me to let you go.

Carly: Oh, ok. Is that why you helped Ric keep me prisoner -- so you could admire me?

Lorenzo: I'm sorry for the part I played in that. I was just buying time to make my own arrangements. And just so you know, the moment I found out that Ric was holding you hostage, you and your baby were safe. I would never have let Ric hurt you, and I certainly would not have let him take your baby.

Carly: Ok. Well, my baby and I are not Ricís hostages anymore -- or yours, so please tell me how that is any better.

Lorenzo: Well, the accommodations, to start. Ric kept you locked up in a cramped room alone, chained to a wall. I've done all I could to accommodate you, including arrange a meeting with Sonny. I let you speak to your son. I've treated you with the respect you deserve. And what happens now is up to your husband.

Scott: According to Interpol, Lansing was the go-to guy when Alcazar was building his compound down in Venezuela. He was in charge of power, the security, the whole enchilada.

Faith: So what? That is ancient history. I want to know where Ric is now.

Scott: Well, I'm just trying to educate Jason that Lansing is better off alive than dead because he knows Alcazar's security and that's where he's probably got Carly.

Jason: You know what? If you want to update Faith on Ricís work history, why don't you go buy her a drink because there's no reason for either one of you to be here.

Scott: Yeah, well, you know who's not here is Corinthos. That's because he's fitting Lansing right now with cement shoes.

Faith: You know what? Shut up. A man is dead here and you didn't do a thing to protect him. What is wrong with you?

Jason: All right, that's it. Both of you get out.

Scott: You know, whatever comes down on Corinthos, he deserves it. Let's go.

Faith: I am not leaving until you tell me what you have done with Ric.

Ric: Ow. Oh.

[Ric coughs]

Ric: Oh.

Sonny: How many summers did you spend growing up here, Ric?

Ric: Every one, from the middle of June till the last week in August.

Sonny: Oh, right, when the city was the worst, when it stinks the most, when it's so humid you can't even move. You were up here in a house with a porch with the lawn running down to the sea. But you were suffering, right, Ric?

Ric: All I wanted is --

Sonny: Your parents and -- what?

Ric: You compare your childhood to mine?

Sonny: I know about your stupid -- don't tell me about your childhood! I'm tired of hearing it! Too much money, not enough love? It must have been difficult to warp you this badly, to twist you into the monster that you are, but you know what? Maybe they had nothing to do with it. Maybe you were like this from the beginning -- something wrong and evil growing inside my mother to begin with.

Ric: Yeah. Poor Adela, right? Well, at least she had you -- her perfect boy who threw her down the stairs at the ripe old age of 6 and then grew up and beat the hell out of her. Yeah, she was blessed.

Sonny: Her jaw was broken, her arm was broken. She had two black eyes. She was beautiful, but not after that. The man who hit her felt entitled because he was angry, because something happened, because he couldn't own up to his screw-ups, his failures, so he took it out on her. Do you know who I'm describing here? Huh? Sound familiar to you? I'm going to tell you who I'm describing -- my stepfather. But I could easily be talking about you.

Sonny: Look at yourself -- look at yourself!

Sonny: You kidnap a woman, you chain her to a wall, you threaten to kill her and steal her child. You are no better than the man who beat our mother. You say you want to come after me to avenge her pain? The bastard you hate, the pig you want revenge against, is not me, Ric. It's you.

Emily: Oh. Your love means everything to me and I want to pledge my life to you. But I can't do that until I'm sure the cancer is gone. I want to be whole for you and well. It's the least you deserve.

Zander: If it means so much to you, then we'll wait. The second, the day you beat this thing, that ring goes on your finger.

Emily: For the rest of my life -- I promise.

Zander: I love you.

Emily: I love you, too.

Emily: Hey. Where are you going?

Zander: That's -- that's none of your business.

Emily: Since when? I happen to have a huge, vested interest in where you go.

Zander: Well, I -- I have to take care of a few things. I made some arrangements, thinking that we'd be engaged tonight.

Emily: Oh, Zander, I'm so sorry.

Zander: Hey, don't. Don't worry about it, ok?

Emily: Ok.

Zander: So we have to postpone a few things.

Zander: Bye.

Emily: Bye. Bye.

Emily's voice: Zander asked me to marry him tonight. I told him I couldn't until I beat the cancer, but that was a lie. The truth is I can't get Nikolas out of my mind.

Stefan: You're grasping at straws. You're manufacturing excuses to back out of something you've already agreed to.

Nikolas: Hey, I was ready to do my duty however much I hated the thought of marrying a woman I didn't love. But this last move is one lie too many. It made me -- it made me stop and think "why am I going through all of this?" These are your plans, your priorities -- not mine.

Stefan: This was never about me, Nikolas!

Nikolas: That's not good enough.

Stefan: This is about your future!

Nikolas: Not good enough.

Lydia: Excuse me, but there is more at stake here than your hurt feelings and Stefanís plans. The rest of my life is riding on this. I need that inheritance, I'm entitled to it, and I need you to get it. If your uncle lied to you, that's too bad. We still have the same problem -- we have to marry in order to get the money.

Nikolas: I don't love you, Lydia. I doubt I ever will. And I am not going to marry you.

Faith: You don't get rid of me as easily as you get rid of Baldwin, ok? I have something at stake here whether you like it or not. I have played your little game with the feds acting like Sonny's mistress to help you get Carly back. Now I need to know what is going on.

Jason: You're really in no position to make any demands at all.

[Faith sighs]

Faith: This is a matter of survival, ok? My life is at stake. Just tell me the truth. Is Ric dead?

Jason: I don't know.

Faith: Ok, fine. I get the message. It's not like Ric didn't deserve it, right? Congratulate Sonny for me.

Courtney: Jason, Scott just confirmed that Ric can help find Carly. You have to stop Sonny before it's too late.

[Ric groans]

Ric: This is where you finish me, right? Where you finally get rid of the brother that you never wanted. Well, go ahead. What are you waiting for, huh -- permission?

Sonny: No, I'm waiting for you to hate yourself even more than I hate you. I want you to even be more afraid than you are now. I want you to beg for your life. And you will, Ric. You're too weak to accept what you deserve.

Ric: What I deserve. What about you, Sonny? Huh? What do you deserve? I stood over my wife and I was prepared to smother her to death, and I realized that I made a mistake, that I was wrong. I went back and I released Carly from that panic room. You know what, Sonny? You're right. I don't have it in me to kill. I faltered at the end. But you wonít. You wonít. You never do, not when you pushed our mother down the stairs, not on the plaza stairs when you killed my baby.

Sonny: I never laid a hand on Elizabeth.

Ric: That's a lie and you know it.

Sonny: No, the only liar here is you. You wanted to take my wife, my child? The miscarriage was just your excuse.

Ric: I wanted to give back my wife what you took from her. Did you hear Elizabeth in the E.R.?

Sonny: I didn't take anything!

Ric: Did you hear Elizabeth in the E.R.? Did you hear her crying over losing our baby? Did you hear her tell -- tell me how sorry she was for what you did to her?

Sonny: You used Elizabethís grief --

Ric: Don't you tell me how I feel about Elizabeth!

Sonny: Well, you got a strange way of showing it, Ric! Lying to her face, moving her into that house? What if the cops blame Elizabeth? You ever think of that, Ric? What if they charge her as an accomplice?

Ric: No --

Sonny: "No" what?

Ric: No, Elizabethís innocent. Carly will tell them and --

Sonny: Carly's gone, you miserable freak! Alcazar took her! You forgot about that? My wife and my unborn child are hostages because of you!

Stefan: How do you expect to live without Lydiaís inheritance? The Cassadine fortune is collapsing.

Nikolas: Let it.

Stefan: You're behaving like a spoiled child. You're refusing to see the larger implications.

Lydia: Stefan, give Nikolas and me some time by ourselves. We'll work this out on our own.

Stefan: See that you do.

Nikolas: There's nothing to work out.

Lydia: Can you stop being angry for one second and listen to me? I've tried all kinds of tricks to get you to want me, even flirting with your brother. But I am through with all that because in the process of all that scheming, Iíve realized something basic -- I want you, Nikolas. I want us to be together, money or no money.

Nikolas: You just said you needed the inheritance, Lydia. You just said that.

Lydia: Your uncle was standing right there. Did you want me to tell him that I had feelings for you with him as an audience?

Nikolas: You -- you don't have feelings for me. You're trying to salvage the deal. One thing I've learned growing up in this family is that it is always about the money.

Lydia: Not this time. This time, it's about you, Nikolas. You've got a million reasons not to believe me. I know that. And I'm not going to tell you that it's love because I don't know what love is.  I have a connection with you and I don't want to lose it.

Nikolas: You're amazing. You could lie with total conviction, but there's no point. We both know that the only thing you ever wanted is the money attached to marrying me.

Sonny: Somehow, Alcazar figured out you had Carly. And you panicked and you let him take her. That's why he kept showing up at your house. He wanted to keep an eye on Carly, make sure that you didn't lose his bargaining chip.

Ric: It took you that long to figure it out?

Sonny: Well, because of Elizabeth. She was worth all the lies you told her. She was a great alibi. But I knew she wouldn't cover up a kidnapping. So that left Alcazar as the only suspect. But tell me something, Ric -- though, I wasn't completely wrong. Huh? Was he in on it from the -- from the start?

Ric: I drugged Elizabeth. And I did -- I took Carly so she wouldn't know that I was gone. Alcazar just came in and he saw her lying on the couch.

Sonny: Mm-hmm. Then he just -- Alcazar just put the pieces together and then he confronted you and you folded like a house of cards.

[Sonny sighs]

Sonny: You put my wife and my unborn child in the hands of a drug lord.

Ric: No, Sonny, that was you. When you married Carly and you get her pregnant, and you made yourself powerful enough to have something that Alcazar wanted. You know what? You can blame me for taking your wife and locking her up. But the one who made her a target was you.

Lorenzo: Hmm.

Carly: So who taught you to play?

Lorenzo: I don't remember. Picked it up somewhere along the way. I'm surprised you never learned.

Carly: Me, too. Looks like Iím a natural, huh?

[Carly hums]

Carly: I won.

Lorenzo: Yeah, congratulations.

Carly: Yeah, thank you.

Lorenzo: You sure you're not a backgammon shark?

Carly: Oh, come on -- I won fair and square. Now pay up.

[Alcazar sighs]

Carly: Come on.

Lorenzo: Money won't do you any good here, Mrs. Corinthos.

Carly: Oh, well, that's ok. A bet's a bet, and I won fair and square and this is --

Lorenzo: All right, that's enough.

Carly: Mine.

Lorenzo: Hand it back.

Carly: Ooh. Oh.

Ric: You were the last living tie to my mother. I wanted to know my brother, so I looked up your records. It was very impressive, yeah -- high school dropout, juvenile delinquent. Worked your way up to middle echelon mobster and then suddenly, what, bang, Frank Smith dies. You took over most of his territory. Within a year, you controlled the eastern part of the Canadian border and most of Puerto Rico. You didn't get that kind of power on accident, big brother. You took it. You killed for it. And then you have the arrogance to parade somebody like Carly in front of your enemies just begging for them to come after her? You know what? Alcazar just took the invitation that you left for him.

Sonny: He took Carly from your house where you held her hostage. You were either too stupid or too weak to know he only left her with you to split my focus. He had total control of Carly from the minute he saw her with you.

Ric: No, I gave access to Alcazar.

Sonny: No --

Ric: But the reason that he has Carly, Sonny, is because you have something that he wants. You afraid for her? You should be because Lorenzo Alcazar is just like you, Sonny -- he's a businessman. Doesn't matter whether she lives or whether she dies, as long as he turns a profit.

Sonny: I'm going to get my wife and my child back. And you know what makes me feel real good? They're going to be safe because you're not going to be around.

Jason: Sonny. Elizabeth told Baldwin that we had Ric, and he showed up at the penthouse and he searched the place.

Sonny: He didn't find anything.

Jason: No, no, he didn't, but if Ric disappears right now, we're looking at a full murder investigation, and you can't risk that.

Sonny: Are you telling me not to kill him now, Jason, after --

Ric: I think what Jasonís trying to tell you --

Sonny: Shut up!

Jason: Baldwin -- listen to me. Baldwin talked to Interpol, ok? They confirmed that Lansing oversaw construction of a compound in Venezuela, so if Alcazar takes Carly there, we have -- we know --

Sonny: No, no, no. Carly's on a yacht. Nothing Ric knows is worth keeping him alive.

Jason: Will you just listen to me?

Sonny: No, you listen to me!

Jason: You're angry now --

Sonny: Oh, I --

Jason: Right?

Sonny: He's nothing, he's done, he's over.

Jason: Ok, listen. You hate Ric, but you got to think about Carly and Michael and prison because if you pull that trigger, you're going to carry it, Sonny. You want to do that? Let me. Let me do it -- I hate Ric. Killing him won't cost me anything. You can go to Edgartown. I'll meet you there when it's finished.

Ric: Hey, why don't you listen to your hit man? Pass it off to somebody else like him, man, like you always do, right?

Sonny: Oh, yeah? Right? That's what you would do, right? You would let somebody else --

Ric: Look, if you think that I deserve to die, then it doesn't matter which one of you -- pulls the trigger.

Jason: I can forget killing you, Ric -- the way you deserve to be forgotten.

Sonny: Ok, hold on here. Ric is my enemy. Come here. I watched you hurt my wife and my sister and you did everything you could to destroy me. And I didn't -- I did nothing to stop you because I wanted to believe -- I wanted to believe there was a part of my mother in you, something good, something I should honor. So I lied for my mother's sake and now Carlyís paying the price. I'm the only one who can make this right.

Faith: Hey, Johnny. Is Sonny here?

Johnny: No, he's not.

Faith: Oh. Well, it's probably better that way anyway. I just wanted to, you know, slip in and out quickly and get my stuff without making a fuss. Is that ok?

Johnny: Make it quick.

Faith: Thanks.

Michael: Mommy?

Michael: Who are you? Get the hell away from me.

Nikolas: Emily.

Emily: Hey, I was -- I was trying to find Elizabeth.

Nikolas: What's wrong? What happened?

Emily: No, I'm just -- I'm in desperate need of a girlfriend, just someone to tell me that I'm being a complete idiot.

Nikolas: Why?

Emily: Zander just asked me to marry him. He is so sweet and, Nikolas, he -- he had a ring and he got down on his knee.

Nikolas: What did you say?

Emily: I told him no. I -- I told him I -- I told him I couldn't marry him until I'd beaten the cancer.

Nikolas: That doesn't make you an idiot. I'm sure he understands.

Emily: It was a lie, Nikolas. I couldn't tell him the real reason I said no.

[knock on door]

Zander: Emily? Em?

[Zander sighs]

(Zander reading Emilyís journal)

Emilyís voice: "Zander asked me to marry him tonight. I told him I couldn't until I beat the cancer, but that was a lie. The truth is I can't get Nikolas out of my mind."

Lydia: "I apologize for any inconvenience, Nikolas. At least you still have your freedom." Too much? No. Appropriately hysterical.

Stefan: What happened with Nikolas?

Lydia: He walked out. Thanks to you, Nikolas hates me and won't believe a word that I say. I've lost any hope of ever having him.

[Stefan scoffs]

Stefan: Play the broken-heart act all you want.

Lydia: It's not an act, you cold bastard!

Stefan: Your histrionics are wasted on me. You and I have the same problem, and it's purely financial.

Lydia: Go away and leave me the hell alone.

Stefan: All right. Have your little tantrum. Get it out of your system and then remind yourself that without me, you'll be alone and broke.

Lydia: Ok. Ahem.

(Lydia takes pills)

Lydia: Oh. What the hell? Might as well make it convincing.

Faith: Did mommy or daddy say anything about Ric? You remember Ric.

Michael: Ric is a bad man. He took mommy.

Faith: No, Ric isn't bad, Michael.

Michael: That's not what daddy says.

Faith: No. Your parents are wrong about Ric.

[door opens]

Elizabeth: Michael? Hi, honey. What are you doing up so late? Where's Leticia?

Michael: She's asleep. I heard the door open and I thought it was mommy, but it was her.

Elizabeth: Oh, sweetheart, I'm sorry your mommy's not here, but you know what? You need to get your bottom back up in bed, ok?

Michael: Ok.

Elizabeth: Go on.

Faith: If you are here to plead for Ricís life, you're too late.

Elizabeth: Have you heard something?

Faith: Grow up, little girl. You can't kidnap Sonny Corinthos' wife and expect to live. This is all your fault, you know? If you hadn't let yourself get pregnant and then lost the baby, Ric would never have grabbed Carly and none of this would've happened. If you had just left him to me, I could've kept him safe, but no. You and your little good-girl act did this. Ric's blood is on your hands, Elizabeth.

Sonny: Jason, I need to do this alone.

Ric: Oh, come on, Sonny. You confirmed everything that I just said about you, right?

Sonny: Beg first.

Ric: Go ahead -- no.

Sonny: Beg.

Ric: No, I let Carly --

Sonny: Beg!

Ric: I let Carly go.

Sonny: Yeah?

Ric: I showed mercy -- that means I'm better than you.

Sonny: You showed mercy?

Ric: Go ahead. Go ahead!

Sonny: Come on, then!

Ric: Go ahead!

[car approaches]

Jason: It's the cops.

Ric: You're not going to get your chance, huh?

Sonny: Yeah, you're lucky.

Ric: Huh?

Jason: Shut up.

Sonny: Get the gun.

Officer: Police. Open up.

[Sonny sighs]

[Officer bangs on door]

Sonny: Yeah, I'm coming. Coming.

Officer: Police. Open up.

Sonny: Yeah, I'm coming.

Scott: Hi, Sonny. What are you doing here? Did you come to kill your brother?

Lorenzo: I'd like my money clip and the picture.

Carly: Well, who is she?

Lorenzo: The picture, please.

Carly: Ok. I'll give you all of this back as soon as you tell me why you're carrying this picture.

Lorenzo: This isn't a game! Give me what's mine now!

Carly: It's a snapshot, Lorenzo. It's not an ice pick. Why are you acting like I just stabbed you in the heart?

>> On the next "General Hospital" --

Stefan: Of course we need the helicopter! It's an island, you idiot!

Lorenzo: You've mistaken my hospitality for weakness. Don't be confused.

Faith: Do you think they killed him slowly?

Elizabeth: Shut up!

Scott: If you killed Lansing, you killed your only shot at finding Carly.
