Emily: I need to tell Zander the truth. I'm officially setting you free.
Lydia: Marry me and continue loving Emily.
Lorenzo: I'm here to speak to Corinthos. I know where his wife is.
Faith: I think this plan of the Feds is going to work like a charm.
Zander: I had a great time last night.
Gia: Well, I love fireworks.
Zander: Me, too.
Gia: It took everything for me not to ask you to come up and spend the night.
Zander: Well, why didn't you?
Gia: I think taking time is a good thing.
Zander: Gia, Emily's with Nikolas, and I'm not looking back.
Nikolas: So I asked Lydia to marry me, and she accepted.
Lucky: Are you trying to be funny, because --
Nikolas: No, I'm serious. I'm marrying Lydia.
Lucky: What about Emily?
Emily: I'm looking for Nikolas.
Lydia: You mean my fiancé? He's not here.
Emily: What did you say?
Lydia: Oh, I assumed you knew. Nikolas proposed last night. It belonged to his great-grandmother.
Lydia: Yeah, that's it. Well, aren't you going to offer your congratulations?
Sonny: Hey. Did you find anything?
Jason: Alcazar went home after he left here last night. He's living in Ric's old apartment.
Sonny: What do you think that means?
Jason: Well, Carly's been gone for weeks.
Jason: And all of a sudden Alcazar claims he knows where to find her, and now it turns out he's got yet another tie to Ric.
Sonny: Real estate.
Jason: Why not stay at a hotel? Why buy a place unless it's to give Alcazar an excuse to keep meeting with Ric.
Sonny: So now you agree that Ric and Alcazar could be working together? What happened to, you know, Ric grabbed Carly all by himself and, you know, Michael claims he saw her. Do you agree now that he could be --
Jason: Sonny --
Sonny: Repeating what he heard you say?
Jason: Michael saw Ric take Carly. I believe that, okay? I don't have the proof that Ric took Carly. All I got are a bunch of things that don't add up. Right? Like the power went out when I was alone in Ric's house, like all those surveillance cameras that didn't record me breaking in. And most of all, I have what Ric did to Carly before. He used her and he lied to her and he made Carly believe the one thing that would hurt you most. Come on, Ric doesn't care how badly Carly hurts as long as you hurt, too, and what could be worse than losing your wife and your child, having them vanish without a trace, and on my wedding day because Ric hates me, too? Sonny, it's exactly how Ric thinks. I mean, in a sick way, it's smart, it's calculated to cause maximum damage. It's all about revenge. Doesn't that sound like Ric to you?
Carly: What are you up to now? Oh, my God, you're going to poison your own wife.
Jason: So I had someone tail Alcazar when he left here last night. Went back to his apartment, stayed there all night long. No taps are in place on the phone, but, you know, I could get -- I can get Stan to --
Sonny: Alcazar's a professional. I'm sure he checks his place for surveillance equipment. What we'll do is put him on the defensive. Last night, did you get the sense he was bluffing or telling the truth?
Jason: Truth. Definitely knows something about Carly.
Jason: Well, why? You going to negotiate with him?
Sonny: No, no, that's not what I meant. I wasn't sure you'd admit that Alcazar had a partner. You hate Ric so much you let him blind you to everything else that's dangerous, and that means I lost my right hand. I need you on this. That means you can't go after Ric and you can't get arrested for breaking into his house.
Jason: I won’t.
Sonny: I'm glad to hear it.
Jason: I -- I need something from you in return.
Sonny: We're negotiating now?
Jason: Maybe you're right. I'm too angry to think clearly because when I see Ric, I want him dead. You know, the time I beat him up at the hospital, I didn't even know what I was doing. Sonny, he says something to me, and the next thing I knew I had my hands around his throat trying to squeeze every bit of air out of him. I just -- I can't trust my own judgment. So I have to trust yours.
Jason: I'll go after Alcazar. I'll kill him if you want. But don't drop Ric as a suspect. Just promise me you'll be professional and you'll look at what Ric has to gain from this.
Sonny: You have my word.
[Knock on door]
Marco: Faith Rosco’s here.
Jason: What does she want?
Faith: She's moving in.
Sonny: You don't waste any time, do you?
Faith: We are supposed to be lovers. That requires physical proximity. Take these to the master bedroom, would you?
Sonny: Okay. I already told you, you're going to sleep in the guest room and you're going to keep your mouth shut, because if you blow this deal, Faith, I will send your sorry butt back to prison.
Carly: They're birth-control pills. You got them. You really are going to try and keep Elizabeth from getting pregnant.
Ric: Hi, honey. Where are you?
Elizabeth: I'm in the park. I need to --
Ric: Well, get home. I -- I miss you.
Elizabeth: I need to tell you something, and I don't want to do it over the phone or at home.
Ric: Is something wrong?
Elizabeth: I'm near the gazebo. Just get here as quickly as you can. I'll wait for you.
Carly: Of course something's wrong. She married you.
Emily: So why would you want to be congratulated on a business arrangement? On your wedding day, Nikolas won't look at you and see a woman he wants to marry more than anyone else in the world. He's going to see a girl he has to marry, because he doesn't have any other choice. Nikolas is trying to save everything his family has spent centuries building. But what I don't get is why you agreed. Why would your family want you to marry a man who doesn't love you?
Lydia: Actually, arranged marriages have a better track record than love matches do. When enormous wealth is involved, it makes marriage a very complicated matter. And the fact that you don't know that shows how naive you really are. But people like Nikolas and I can't afford to be naive. When Nikolas slipped this ring on my finger, he committed his life to me. And I'll be totally committed to him. I believe that marriage is a sacred bond to be honored and cherished. And I know Nikolas feels the same.
Nikolas: Emily and I haven't been honest.
Lucky: Okay, about what?
Nikolas: Well, I'll let her tell you her side, but I think I've been concentrating on Emily so I wouldn't have to think about how bad my family's financial crisis is.
Lucky: So you're marrying Lydia for money? Well, hey, while you're at it, why don't you just sell your soul, too?
Nikolas: I don't have a choice.
Lucky: Nikolas, I know you. If you marry Lydia, you will honor your vows. She won't feel the same obligation. She's a little brat who will make your life miserable. She'll sleep around, probably on your wedding night.
Nikolas: When did you become such an expert on Lydia?
Lucky: Come on, Lydia isn't hard to figure out. Lydia doesn't give a damn about you. Don't you want to have a wife who's going to love you and respect you?
Nikolas: It doesn't matter what I want. Lucky, I have to think about the future of my family.
Lucky: What future? What about your future? You got a right to something better than an arranged marriage to a girl you don't even love.
Nikolas: I've already agreed. I can't change it. I'm engaged to Lydia.
Stefan: Mrs. Lansbury said you wanted to see me.
Lydia: Yes. Congratulate me. Nikolas proposed.
Stefan: As I knew he would.
Lydia: Oh, please. You were scared to death he wouldn't come around.
Stefan: I knew Nikolas would honor his duty to his family.
Lydia: And I knew I would be able to pull it off if you stopped interfering and let me do things my way. Now I've got my inheritance, I've got Nikolas, and together we will be magnificent -- the ultimate power couple. To me.
Stefan: Just don't forget who's in charge.
Lucky: Listen, I still say you're making a huge mistake.
Zander: Did I just hear you say that you're engaged to that rich girl who was at your engagement party?
Nikolas: Her name is Lydia Karenin. And, yes, I'm marrying her.
Zander: Since when?
Nikolas: Since I asked her last night.
Zander: I warned you. I warned you not to take advantage of Emily. This is exactly the kind of thing that could put her back on drugs. But do you even care about that? Huh? Wait a second. How did she take this when you told her?
Nikolas: She doesn't know yet.
Zander: Have you at least broken up with her?
Zander: Well, that was very decent of you.
Gia: Where is Emily now?
Nikolas: I don't know. I haven't seen her since yesterday, Gia. You should call her.
Zander: I can't believe this guy. I'll be back.
Emily: Gia. Hey.
Gia: Nikolas just left.
Emily: Did he say anything?
Gia: He's engaged to someone named Lydia. He didn't give any details, but I'm assuming you're the one who broke it off with him.
Emily: All right, Gia, I'm going to tell Zander the truth.
Gia: Yeah, like I always knew you would.
Jason: How long can you stand to live with Faith?
Sonny: As long as I have to. I mean, I don't want her in my house. I can't stand the sight of her. But I need the Feds.
Jason: You know, just be careful. She's dangerous.
Sonny: Well, do me a favor. If you see me in the morning when you come here, I'm dead on the floor, go to Faith, snap her neck, go back to looking for my wife.
[Knock on door]
Marco: Scott Baldwin.
Sonny: Oh, hey. How can I help you?
Scott: I just wanted to give you a little update. The federal boys -- they found a strand of Carly's hair on one of the planes that took off the night she disappeared.
Sonny: Where's the plane?
Scott: The plane's down in Venezuela. It has been there, hasn't moved since it got there.
Sonny: Where in Venezuela?
Scott: Caracas. Don't even think about sending Jason down there, okay, because your job is to make goo-goo eyes with Faith.
[Knock on door]
Marco: Lorenzo Alcazar.
Lorenzo: D.A. Baldwin.
Scott: Well, I don't think you're here for a game of shuffleboard.
Lorenzo: Mr. Corinthos and I are law-abiding citizens. Certainly, we're allowed to have a conversation without interference from the D.A.
Scott: Why don't you just skip the shuffleboard, do this whole town a favor -- both of you play a nice round of Russian roulette.
Lorenzo: I take it Baldwin hasn't been able to help you find your wife.
Sonny: Jason says you found her for me. Which I find interesting, since Baldwin says it's hopeless. They haven't found a body. They think Carly's dead.
Lorenzo: I have a witness who puts Carly in Venezuela.
Sonny: I need more than that.
Ric: Hey. I got here as quick as I could. What's wrong?
Elizabeth: Oh. Well --
Elizabeth: My husband and I have become house bound, and we've only been married a couple of months. Well, I've been out of the house, and you've been out of the house, but except for when I was in the hospital and, of course, the Fourth of July, when have we been out of the house?
Ric: Oh, right. That's not good.
Elizabeth: No, no, no, no, not good, so --
Elizabeth: I decided to do something about it.
Ric: Uh --
Elizabeth: Are you mad?
Ric: Mad? Well, why would I be mad?
Elizabeth: Well, because I'm sure there's something you should be doing, but I was pretty sure if I gave you a choice you would have said no.
Ric: No, you know what? I've just been so immersed in work lately, that's -- that's why I've been neglecting you. You know it's all for you, though, right? Hmm? Hmm?
Elizabeth: Of course I do.
Ric: Good. This is good. It's a surprise, you know? This is one of the many reasons why I love you so much.
Elizabeth: Well, I hope you still feel that way when you hear about stage two of my plan.
Ric: Uh-oh. Okay. Well, I don't mountain climb --
Ric: Or race motorcycles or dive out of planes.
Elizabeth: Guess again.
Ric: I'm all out.
Elizabeth: Okay. I must have left it in the car. I'll be right back.
Ric: Find it?
Elizabeth: Yes, yes, yes, yes, I did, so --
Ric: Okay, now, before you show it to me, I just -- I want to make a toast.
Ric: To our future, to the many wonderful surprises in store for us, as well as, sometime soon, a baby Lansing.
Elizabeth: Hmm. To our future and our love and lots of baby Lansings.
Ric: Mmm. That's good tea.
Elizabeth: Mm-hmm. Well, you know there's a special ingredient in it. A couple slices of oranges will do it every time. Okay, okay, okay, are you excited?
Ric: Yeah, well, actually, I'm a little nervous.
Elizabeth: All right, drum roll, please.
Ric: Oh, right.
Elizabeth: Well, we never got to go on our honeymoon, so, I am stealing you away out of town, out of the house for two weeks. We are going to go to Hawaii!
Ric: No, I -- I -- I can’t. I just -- I can't go out of town right now.
Elizabeth: Why not? What's so important that you can't get away?
Sonny: How'd you get this information that Carly's in Venezuela?
Lorenzo: I have a home in Venezuela. Whenever something important or unusual happens in my territory, my people everywhere -- they keep me informed. Now, I have people in prisons and in airports, in restaurants -- everywhere. And my witness saw your wife get into a car being taken away from Caracas airport.
Sonny: How do I know it wasn't one of your people who took her away? Or maybe you grabbed her in the first place and took her to a territory you control?
Lorenzo: Would I be telling you all this if I'd taken Carly?
Sonny: Well, you would, yeah, if it opened up negotiations.
Lorenzo: I'm offering my services as an intermediary. Whoever's got Carly, I can get her -- not the police, not Interpol, not anybody else they can bring in.
Sonny: You do this for me, what do you want?
Lorenzo: You know what I want -- what I've wanted all along.
Sonny: To run drugs through my territory?
Lorenzo: Among other things.
Lorenzo: I think that my terms are generous. All I want from you is the use of your piers and transportation network.
Sonny: You find my wife, you got a deal.
Ric: Listen, going to Hawaii sounds wonderful and I would love nothing more than to be able to go there with you and take the honeymoon that we haven't had yet, and we will, all right? I just -- I need a little time.
Elizabeth: What do you have to do that can't be put off for a couple of weeks?
Ric: I'm -- I'm working on a deal with Lorenzo Alcazar.
Elizabeth: More than just selling him your apartment? Oh.
Elizabeth: Well, how far are you going to have to go to keep him happy, and what if he asks you to do something illegal? What's next?
Ric: No, no, no, it's one --
Elizabeth: I don't understand --
Ric: It's one deal and it has nothing to do with his usual business. It's complicated, okay, and I have to -- I have to oversee it personally. I mean, that's why I've been working so hard. Look, we just finalized all the details this morning, sweetheart. Look, I'm sorry. I know that -- I know that you're not happy about me working for Lorenzo Alcazar. I'm not exactly pleased about it, either.
Elizabeth: Then why do it?
Ric: Because, if I'm able to pull this off, then we could have everything that we want.
Elizabeth: I don't care about the money. You don't have to prove yourself to me. I love you. And just being with you, starting a family -- that's what's important to me.
Ric: That's -- that's why I'm doing all this. It's -- it's not about money. It's about freedom. It's about -- it's about proving something to myself.
Ric: Look, I swear after this deal is done, things are going to be different.
Lucky: You could just wear it through your nose and be sure no one will miss it.
Lydia: I gather Nikolas told you the good news.
Lucky: Good news? No.
Lydia: Look, you can try all you want. Nothing is going to spoil my perfect day. This ring is a symbol that your brother and I want the same thing, and we are going to be very happy together.
Lucky: No. It's a symbol of what a scared, confused little girl you are.
Gia: Zander's inside. He should be out any second --
Gia: But tell me what happened. You owe me that much.
Emily: I know. I just -- I realized that I've been taking advantage of Nikolas, Gia, that I have let things get way out of hand, and I just -- I couldn't keep doing it.
Gia: Who's Lydia?
Emily: She's -- she's a childhood friend of Nikolas'. You'll have to ask him for the details.
Gia: I told you this would happen, and you swore to me that it wouldn't.
Emily: I know. I'm so sorry, Gia. I know I've been completely unfair to everyone.
Gia: No. You're fighting a battle with cancer, which must be hell. I really shouldn't complain about a little heartbreak.
Emily: No, you have every right to complain.
Gia: It's just I opened my heart, you know --
Gia: Because you swore it would be safe, and I wanted to lighten your burden. I did what you wanted -- I helped Zander move on. Now the bottom's dropped out just like I knew it would.
Zander: I heard the news about this new girl.
Emily: Yeah, Lydia. I know all about it.
Zander: You all right?
Emily: Yeah. Don't be mad at Nikolas, Zander. The breakup was my idea.
Zander: Why? Was he cheating on you?
Emily: No. I knew both of you would be worried, so I wanted to come here and tell you in person that I'm not going to have a setback over this. I'm okay. And I -- I know this is a little awkward, but I just wanted Zander to be clear that just because Nikolas and I have broken up that that doesn't change anything between the two of us. You know, I still want Zander to go on with his own life --
Gia: Emily, stop, please.
Emily: And I want to go on with my own life, too, so --
Gia: Please don't do this.
Zander: Do what?
Gia: It's like I've said all along -- Zander deserves to know the truth. If you don't tell him, I will.
Zander: Tell me what?
Stefan: Am I allowed to congratulate you?
Nikolas: Lydia told you we're engaged?
Stefan: I had hoped to hear it from you.
Nikolas: Does it make victory any sweeter if I concede in person, Uncle?
Stefan: Nikolas, I haven't won anything. You have. Lydia's a beautiful woman. She'll make a suitable wife, one who understands your background and your way of life.
Nikolas: Yeah. You mean Lydia can afford my way of life, which is convenient since I'll be paying the bills with her money exactly the way you planned. You arranged this, didn't you? When you went to Milan, you weren't warning Chloe. You were looking for a new source of capital. When exactly did you decide to fill the family coffers by marrying me off to the Karenin fortune? Huh? Did it ever occur to you to ask me how I felt about it?
Stefan: I knew you would do your duty, and you have.
Nikolas: You are so good at evasion. I've known you all my life, and I think I can count the number of honest answers you've given me on one hand.
Stefan: You want honesty? All right. Here it is. Your grandmother left this family bankrupt. While everyone was rejoicing in her defeat, I took a look at the books and saw that within two years the Cassadines would collapse. I could have pointed that out to you, Nikolas. I could have come to you and asked you to strategize on a solution, but you were busy. You were busy turning your back on all things Cassadine, pretending to be a Spencer. I obliged you repeatedly, and then I went off and found a solution -- Anton Karenin's fortune, which was about to be given to charity. I went to him and persuaded him to divide it equally between you and Lydia in the event of your marriage.
Nikolas: Even though I was engaged to Gia at the time?
Stefan: I knew you and Gia would never marry. If she hadn't rejected you herself, I would have come to you and explained why you had to be with Lydia.
Nikolas: Oh, yeah -- the way you explained it when I got engaged to Emily.
Stefan: Well, I hoped I wouldn't have to, that you would come to your senses. And lo and behold, I was right. Your attachment to Emily was as fleeting as I had thought.
Nikolas: My attachment to Emily is the single strongest thing I have in my life. You want to know why? Because out of all the people who have ever claimed to care about me, she's the only one who never lies, the only one who always keeps her promises.
Lydia: You know, I don't think your brother will appreciate you insulting his fiancée.
Lucky: Yeah, I had you pegged from the moment we first met.
Lydia: Oh, yeah.
Lucky: You're just a spoiled little rich girl searching for love.
Lydia: Love's highly overrated.
Lucky: You know, the ones that say that are the ones that never had it. You've had money your whole life, and getting more isn't going to change anything. But when love comes along, your whole world's going to change.
Lydia: Oh, yeah? Well, the people that say that money can't change anything are the ones who don't have it. You don't know anything about me. You have no idea what I wan--
Lucky: Congratulations on your engagement.
Elizabeth: Dr. Meadows?
Dr. Meadows: Oh, Elizabeth. That was quick.
Elizabeth: I was in the area. I really appreciate you squeezing me in.
Dr. Meadows: Oh, no problem. Have a seat.
Dr. Meadows: How can I help you?
Elizabeth: My husband and I really want a family. But because of the miscarriage, he was worried, so he convinced me to see a fertility specialist.
Dr. Meadows: What was the name?
Elizabeth: Dr. Donald Gordon.
Dr. Meadows: Not familiar with him.
Elizabeth: Oh. Well, he told me I can't have children.
Dr. Meadows: That wasn't my conclusion.
Elizabeth: And that's why I would like you to re-examine me, so I can know for sure.
Carly: What are you doing?
Lorenzo: Well, that depends on you. If you don't tell Ric I took this picture, I'm going to get you out of here and reunited with your husband.
Carly: Why should I trust you?
Lorenzo: Trust that I'm working in my own best interest. Who would I rather have in my debt, Ric or Sonny?
Ric: What the hell are you doing here again?
Lorenzo: I thought partners shared everything.
Sonny: Nothing about this fits.
Jason: I went to question Alcazar the night Carly disappeared, and I swear on my life that he was surprised. He had no idea that Carly was missing.
Sonny: So Alcazar's not the one who loaded Carly on a plane to Venezuela? Alcazar's negotiating and he's lying through his teeth because I know he has access to Carly, but not the way he says.
Jason: What are you going to do?
Sonny: I'm going to keep him talking, wait for him to make a mistake.
Jason: What about the drugs?
Sonny: I'll lie to him, tell him I'm moving them, and I'll lie to anybody else who, you know -- if it means finding Carly. I don't know what's worse, thinking my brother took Carly because he's a psycho out to hurt me or knowing that Carly's a bargaining chip and Alcazar's holding her because she's valuable to me, how the way I brought that -- how the way I brought this down on her.
Jason: No, you didn't.
Sonny: Yeah, I did, Jason. She's out there somewhere, a prisoner, scared for herself and her child.
Jason: Whatever's happening, Carly will survive it. She'll keep that baby safe. You know that, Sonny. Carly never gives up when things are impossible. She just fights even harder.
Sonny: Don't take her strength for granted, Jason. Anybody can break.
Jason: You want me to check out Alcazar's place?
Sonny: No. No. I want you to find more proof that Ric and Alcazar are working together. But stay out of trouble because you're no good to me in jail.
Jason: I understand.
Faith: Hello, lover.
Sonny: That's Carly's.
Nikolas: I missed you. I did. I never got a chance to tell you that because the day you get home I walk in the door and find you lying to my brother. Then you turn around and start lying to me about why you came back, why Lydia showed up, the agenda you swore you didn't have. Why is it so impossible for you to be honest with me about anything?
Stefan: You don't want honesty, Nikolas. You want illusion. You want me to be kind, open, truthful. If I had been, you would be dead or a monster like the rest of the Cassadines you claim to despise. I spent half of my life fighting to protect you from Helena. If you don't approve of my methods, I'm sorry, but they're necessary. They still are. Helena bankrupted you. Marriage to Lydia will save both you and the legacy you've inherited. And before you tell me that you'd be happy to earn your own living, let me remind you, you abhor liars, so don't lie to yourself. You were born and raised to inherit a fortune and carry on the Cassadine legacy.
Nikolas: For someone who claims to love me, you don't have much faith in me, do you?
Stefan: You cannot be other than what you are.
Nikolas: You just described yourself -- your life, your choices. And if you made them out of love, I thank you for your good intentions, but I can't reciprocate. I will not live my life for you, following your instructions, swallowing your lies. I agreed to marry Lydia, but that's where it ends for me. The rest of my life is my own.
Emily: Zander, I've been lying to you from the beginning. I did it to protect you, all right, because I love you so much.
Zander: Protect me from what?
Emily: All right, you know, you kept saying that there's something more going on, and you were right.
Emily: The truth is, you know that those drugs that you found that night? They weren't what you thought. I didn't have a relapse, okay? You jumped to that conclusion, and I let you believe it.
Zander: Well, what were they for?
Emily: It was -- it's an experimental treatment.
Zander: For what?
Emily: I have -- I have breast cancer.
Dr. Meadows: Well, it's possible Dr. Gordon was looking at erroneous results.
Elizabeth: But you're confident there's no physical reason I can't get pregnant?
Dr. Meadows: None that I can see.
Elizabeth: Oh, my husband is going to be so happy.
Ric: I thought I made it very clear that I don't want you dropping by whenever the hell you feel like it. I don't want you coming around when I'm not here. I don't want you talking to her. I don't want you near her. I have worked too hard and too long for you to come in here and screw this up now.
Sonny: I told you not to go into the master bedroom.
Faith: We're supposed to be intimate, and since you are clearly not into sharing, I took it upon myself to go into your personal space, see what clues I could find out. Want to know what I discovered?
Sonny: You sure you want to do this?
Faith: You're just a freak about control, aren't you? Everything is just perfect, every suit hung just so, every shirt perfect -- not crowded, not wrinkled. Now that is more than the work of a devoted housekeeper. That is a man who has to have everything exactly the way he wants it. Carly -- she's a different story.
Sonny: You know what? I -- do me a favor. Do not say her name.
Faith: Yeah, organization is not her strong suit. No, all her dresses crammed together, everything jumbled on top of each other. I couldn't even see if she had any maternity clothes. She did have plenty of lycra and spaghetti straps. That's what you like, isn't it? And she -- she certainly -- oh -- caters to you, doesn't she? Is red your favorite color?
Sonny: Take it off.
Faith: I'm just trying to be accommodating. Of course, the dress does fit like it was made for me. I thought it would be a nice way to make our affair seem a little more authentic.
Sonny: Yeah? Really?
Sonny: I said take it off.
>> On the next "General Hospital" --
Lydia: What about the ceremony?
Lucky: How about a handshake and a quick goodbye? Nikolas wants Emily, not you.
Zander: You're not going to die. I won't let you.
Faith: Your wife is dead.
Sonny: She's not!
Faith: What if she is?
Jason: What was that noise?
