Emily: I know how important it is to you to do what your family needs.
Lorenzo: The Davis woman deserves to be punished.
Skye: That's exactly what I was thinking.
Elizabeth: I'm not going to give up on our baby, okay?
Ric: Get some rest. You're going to need your strength to bring my child into this world.
Jason: Who is Ric talking to?
Faith: Stop looking at me like I'm roadkill and start acting like you want me.
Edward: You see, the Fourth of July picnic is a very important Quartermaine tradition. We all get there and we watch the fireworks together. I need you to get to the park early to set things up, hmm?
Alexis: [British accent] Very good. Service for how many, sir?
Edward: Well, the whole family will be there, and -- and that includes you, Mr. Dillon.
Dillon: Oh, yeah. Yeah, you don't want me around any other time and now you want me to go to the picnic. That's --
Edward: Listen here, this is an important Quartermaine tradition. And whether you like it or not, young man, you are a member of this family. You better damn well show your face there or I can see a military school in your very near future.
Skye: Oh, Dillon, don't worry about it. If he tries to ship you off to military school, I'm sure Lila will divorce him.
Ned: Actually, bro, it'd be really great if you went to the picnic since Skye and I can't make it.
Edward: What -- what are you saying? This is a very important way for us to show our position in the community --
Skye: Grandfather -- Grandfather, Alexis has a scheduled visit tonight with Kristina. Ned and I would like to be here to supervise.
Edward: Oh, God, why are we having this damn picnic in the first place?
A.J.: What's going on here? You're looking awfully full of yourself.
Skye: Well, I have arranged for a business meeting for you to meet a certain foreign investor by the name of Alcazar. See, when he walks in tonight, Alexis is going to be blown out of the water in one fell swoop.
Stefan: That was my great-grandmother Katya's engagement ring. It hasn't been worn since the Cassadines lived in Russia. I can't imagine Emily Quartermaine would feel comfortable wearing such a distinctive stone.
Nikolas: It's not your decision, is it?
Stefan: I suppose not. But you must admit it would suit Lydia's hand perfectly.
Lydia: Oh. Did I hear someone take my name in vain?
Nikolas: My uncle's starting another lecture on how I should marry you for the good of the Cassadines, and you're welcome to join in, but you'd just be wasting your time.
Lydia: Are you sure, Nikolas? I can be awfully persuasive.
Nikolas: There's nothing either of you can say or do that will convince me to break my commitment to Emily.
Emily: Hey. Jase, I'm glad you got my message. Where have you been?
Jason: Oh, just so much going on. I'm actually supposed to be in Puerto Rico, but I stayed to look for Carly.
Emily: I'm sorry. I know you have so much going on right now. Have a seat.
Jason: What's going on with you? I mean, every time I see you, you look sadder. It's like you're trying to hide something. Somebody hurting you?
Jason: Look, I can't -- I can't make you tell me, but you know I want to help.
Emily: Jase -- oh -- um -- I've got breast cancer. I' already had a lumpectomy and they started chemo, but so far only a few people know. I've been keeping it a secret from everyone, especially Zander, which I know is crazy, but I couldn't help thinking that I was going to die. Any why make anyone sad before they had to be. But now, Jase, I'm starting to believe that I can fight this, okay, and I can live. And the first step is telling people, so I started with you, which I know probably isn't fair. But considering everything you're going through right now with Carly’s disappearance --
Jason: Look, whatever you need, I'll do.
Emily: You're doing it. Jase.
Elizabeth: All right, we better get going. The park fills up fast and I want to get a spot.
Ric: Yeah -- uh -- you know, why don't you go ahead and I'll meet you there later. I just have some last-minute work to do for Alcazar.
Elizabeth: Who does business on the Fourth of July?
Ric: South Americans. It's just another Friday to them.
Elizabeth: Do you promise me Alcazar's not getting you involved in something illegal?
Ric: No, no, I swear it's just some simple legal work, that's all. I swear, okay? And as long as that's all it is, I think it's best if I keep him happy. I will be there before the fireworks start, okay?
Elizabeth: You better.
Ric: I will.
Elizabeth: All right. Hurry up.
Ric: You watch it with that thing, okay?
Carly: Elizabeth didn't look too happy when she left just now. Hmm. She's starting to doubt you just a little more each day. And you know what? At this rate, she will have left you long before my baby's ever born.
Ric: No, you're the only one who's been left already, Carly. Sonny mourned you all of five minutes before he jumped right into bed with Faith.
Sonny: This isn't a good time right now. I got a lot –
Faith: We're supposed to be lovers. You know, that's really difficult to do when you're avoiding me like the plague.
Sonny: I don't want you here.
Faith: That attitude is exactly why no matter how much you hate the idea, I'm moving in with you.
Sonny: We already discussed this. It's not going to happen.
Faith: I met Alcazar in the park yesterday, and I led him to believe that I am working you. He has no idea that he is my real target. Now, see, I have to move in here to convince him that I'm your mistress, that I have some influence with you.
Sonny: I will not have you living in my wife's home, and don't you ever touch that picture again.
Faith: You won't have a wife if you don't cooperate -- not that Carly is any great loss. I mean, what has she ever caused you but trouble? She is too trashy to be a trophy wife and she's not smart enough to be anything else, like a real partner. Like I could be, if you just give me the chance. You know, really, just think of it as the first step in moving up to the real deal, because I guarantee you in bed and everywhere else, I can provide more than Carly ever did.
Sonny: If I want a whore in my bed, I will pay for one I can stand to touch. Leave.
Faith: You know what? I will be at the fireworks tonight. Find me there. It's the perfect opportunity for a public display of affection. And, after all, that's what the Feds let us out of jail for. Oh, and if Agent Brown and company lose any more patience with you, you will lose any hope of finding your precious Carly alive.
Dillon: Since when did you start working at Kelly’s?
Georgie: Mac flipped after Maxie went to that party, so no Fourth of July at the park for us. We work here tonight. Maxie's in back washing dishes.
Dillon: Well -- okay. So why don't you ditch the bogus punishment and save my life. Look, I'm supposed to be at some boring family Fourth of July picnic, and, you know, it's not going to be half as bad if you're there to talk to.
Georgie: I would love to, you know that, but I just -- I can't take the risk.
Dillon: Okay. Well, that's too bad. Life's a lot more fun when you break the rules just a little bit.
Zander: Listen, I got an idea.
Zander: How about we go to the park tonight?
Gia: You and me?
Zander: You provide the blanket, I'll provide the food.
Gia: I never took you as a celebrate-the-Fourth type.
Zander: It'll be a first. I'm all about trying new things and starting over. If you're there with me, it'll be fun.
Gia: All right. Well, then count me in.
Stefan: Without Lydia's inheritance, the Cassadine finances will collapse. Your first duty is to your heritage, to your family.
Nikolas: My first duty is to Emily. If the Cassadine fortune is lost because I keep my promise to her, then so be it. If I have to actually go out and find a job and earn a living, I'll survive. Maybe it's a good thing. Maybe the Cassadine legacy of pain and tragedy will finally collapse without the money to hold it up.
Stefan: Uh-huh. How do you think you will feel living off Emily's trust fund?
Nikolas: I won't --
Stefan: Thanking the Quartermaines for any crumbs tossed your way.
Nikolas: I won't take charity. You know that.
Stefan: Pride is expensive, Nikolas, and the only way you can afford yours is by marrying Lydia.
Nikolas: I've made my choice. The subject is closed.
Emily: Nikolas -- he forced me to go to a support group and listen, you know, Jase, like really just listen to other women who are fighting cancer and who are beating it. And slowly I just -- I started to realize, you know, that I could be one of them, that I could live.
Jason: Then I owe a lot to Nikolas for helping you when you couldn't come to me.
Emily: I couldn't exactly push Zander away by claiming to fall in love with my brother.
Emily: Nikolas was really the only one who could do what I needed.
Jason: I'm just glad you weren't alone.
Emily: Yeah. Oh, you know, I thought -- I thought I was protecting Zander, but mostly I was hiding, you know? I still want to. I know, it's not fair to keep the secret any longer. It's not only hurting Zander and me. It's wrecking something really important for Nikolas. I have to tell Zander the truth. Don't I?
Jason: Sounds like you made up your mind.
Emily: I still want to hear what you think.
Jason: Just do what feels right. Whatever is going to get you through this.
Lucky: What do you want, Lydia?
Lydia: You owe me, and I'm here to collect.
Faith: Hey! In case you don't have your own, they're selling delicious lemonade for 50 cents a glass over by the gate.
Elizabeth: If you try anything, I'll scream my head off, and every cop in the park will be here in 30 seconds.
Faith: That won't be necessary. I'm no threat to you -- anymore.
Elizabeth: Yeah. Okay, I'll believe that when you're behind bars.
Faith: No, really, relax. I realize that Ric isn't worth it. See, he's weak and envious, and he knows that he'll never be half the man that Sonny is and so now I finally know that, too. Yeah -- why settle for a wannabe when you can have the real thing? Yeah, he's all yours. I'm done with him.
Elizabeth: Ric has been all mine for months. You're the only one who couldn't see it because you're so demented.
Elizabeth: And I don't buy the sudden change-of-heart act, so pay attention. I'll do whatever I have to do to protect myself.
Faith: Oh. You're a feisty little waitress, aren't you? Have a nice life.
Lucky: I am on a picnic with my sister and grandma who are at the pony rides. They're due back any minute, so if you could make this fast --
Lydia: Okay, look, I will be more than happy to buy your sister a pony as soon as I get my inheritance. But that is not going to happen unless you can convince Nikolas to marry me.
Lucky: I don't know what you're talking about and I don't care.
Lydia: Well, you better care, unless you want Nikolas standing next to you on the unemployment line. I mean, if we get married, we are going to get a multibillion-dollar inheritance. If not, nothing, zero. It all goes to charity.
Lucky: Well, I guess it's going to charity. Nikolas and Emily are engaged, or you don't remember?
Lydia: Look, he doesn't love her, you know? And even if he did, that's no reason to marry. Money is. So would you please just talk to Nikolas for me? Make him understand.
Lucky: Now, why would I do that?
Lydia: Because I helped you. Yeah, I covered with Stefan when you were snooping around Spoon Island.
Lucky: I had Nikolas' permission to be on that island.
Lydia: I saved you a beating and possibly your life. I always did have a soft spot for courageous men without an ounce of sense. I just -- I didn't want to see you pulverized and thrown over a cliff by one of Stefan’s guards. Seemed like a tragic waste to such a beautiful body. Of course, that was before I knew how bad your attitude was.
Lucky: Hmm, I think you like my attitude.
Lydia: Ha. You're dreaming.
Lucky: Hmm. I don't think so.
Nikolas: Hi. I have something for you. It's a strange day for it, but nothing in our engagement has been that routine, so --
Emily: Nikolas, I need to say something.
Nikolas: It's been in a vault for decades, and I give you my word Helena never touched it, okay? It belonged to my great-great-grandmother Katya, and she was supposed to be somewhat normal, so --
Emily: Oh, my --
Emily: I -- I think I would've liked wearing it. But you need to give that to Lydia. And I need to tell Zander the truth. So that's what we're going to do. I'm officially setting you free.
Sonny: You're back from the island or did you never leave?
Jason: I let Courtney go to Michael alone.
Sonny: I trade myself to the feds so they can search for Carly. What the hell am I supposed to offer when Ric has you arrested for breaking and entering?
Jason: Ric hasn't called the cops. He doesn't even know I went back to his house.
Sonny: Maybe, maybe not, but I asked you to do something, you didn't do it, Jason.
Jason: My -- my sister has cancer.
Jason: I mean, something's been wrong with her ever since she came home. I -- I didn't know what. I didn't even try to find out. It's -- it's breast cancer. Emily's birth mother died from it.
Sonny: I'm sorry.
Jason: She just told me. I couldn't do anything. I -- not even saying that I was scared, because everybody else is scared, you know? Everybody else is trying to fix this for her, and all I can do is listen when she needs to talk. Man, I want to fight this for her, but I can't. You know, I can't just shoot somebody. I can't -- I can't break into somebody's house. I can't take them off the street and hurt them until they tell me how to save her. I can't do that for Emily. But I can do that for Carly. I have to, Sonny. I promised her I'd always be there for her, no matter what. I can't go back on that.
Sonny: You can stay. That's -- Carly would want you to.
Sonny: I'm sorry, man. As much as I hate this thing with the Feds, I need my wife back.
Ric: Here you go. Try to eat it all now. You are eating for two.
Carly: Shouldn't you be meeting Elizabeth at the park? You wouldn't want to keep her waiting, now, would you? Actually, I feel sorry for Elizabeth because she's really going to hurt badly when she realizes she's been lying to herself about you this whole time.
Ric: Elizabeth knows that I love her, and she loves me.
Carly: You are a void. You are a bottomless pit incapable of love or anything good, and Elizabeth knows this. She's just not willing to admit it. But when she does, Ric, she is going to go running and she is never going to stop.
Skye: Oh, Cameron. Thank you so much for coming.
Cameron: I'm still not sure why you called me.
Ned: Cameron. What are you doing here?
Skye: Ned, I thought it would be good for Cameron to see one of Alexis' visits with Kristina. They are so difficult for the child.
Ned: Here you go, sweetie pie. Yeah. Skye, can I speak to you for a moment? What the hell are you up to?
Skye: Ned --
Skye: You have to trust me on this, okay? I'm doing what's best for Kristina.
Alexis: What are you doing here?
Cameron: I wish I knew.
Skye: I thought we could all benefit from some professional supervision during one of your visits.
Alexis: Fine. Be nice to have a friendly face around here besides my daughter’s. Hello! Hi, sweetheart!
Alexis: Hi! You're such a good girl.
A.J.: I got it! I got it, I got it. I'm expecting someone.
Alexis: Oh, yeah. Hi, baby. Hi, baby.
A.J.: I'm glad you could make it. Come in.
Lorenzo: Thanks for taking the time to meet with me.
Lorenzo: We never met. Of course, I recognize you. Alexis Davis -- the woman who murdered my brother. Lorenzo Alcazar.
Alexis: Stay away from my daughter.
Ned: I'm afraid you have to leave right now.
Lorenzo: It appears to be an inconvenient time for our meeting.
A.J.: We'll reschedule.
Lorenzo: It's hard for me to understand how my brother's killer could be walking around free holding her child in her arms. Feels to me like you should have to pay somehow.
Alexis: That's it. I'm taking her out of this house.
Ned: No, Alexis.
Alexis: I'm not keeping her in a house where a man like that can stroll in here whenever he feels like it.
Skye: That man was simply the brother of your victim.
Alexis: Luis Alcazar was a monster, and his brother just threatened me. I can't believe that you put this child, who you claim to love, in his path. You're not fit to be around her at all.
Skye: Who are you to talk to me like that?
Alexis: I'm her mother, and I will protect her at all costs. You're sicker than I ever thought. You wanted me to be holding her while you ambushed me with the brother of the man I killed.
Skye: I thought your alternate personality killed Luis Alcazar, but now you're saying you did it? Well, that must be because that alternate personality never existed, did it, Alexis? You faked the whole thing.
Lydia: Someone should've warned me that you -- you are completely insane. How dare you grope me like that.
Lucky: Well, that's the only thing I could think of to shut you up.
Lydia: Yeah, well, I am going to marry your brother.
Lucky: Doesn't sound like that to me.
Lydia: Don't you care at all that I am going to be penniless?
Lucky: Well, on the scale of tragedy, the idea of you working for a living really doesn't register. On the other hand, the idea of Nikolas being forced to marry rates at least a 3.5.
Lydia: Tragic or not, Nikolas and I will be married.
Gia: Are you feeling neglected? Look around at all the other picnic baskets carefully packed with homemade goodies.
Zander: Gia --
Gia: All I did was bring a blanket and show up.
Zander: Are you kidding me? Take a look around. Who do you want to be with? With all these fancy picnic baskets and homemade portions, or a six-pack of beer and the best ribs in the state?
Gia: Honestly, we do have the best picnic in the park.
Zander: That's what I'm talking about.
Gia: As long as you're sure I'm the one you want to share it with.
Zander: I invited you, didn't I? This is where I want to be. Honest. Trust me on that.
Gia: I guess I'll have to.
Nikolas: You sure this is -- this is what you want? Because, you know, I meant what I said. I'll follow through with the engagement, I'll marry you.
Emily: I can't let you bankrupt your family, Nikolas.
Nikolas: Emily, I'll either save Cassadine industries or I won't, you know, but I'm not going to turn my back on you to marry a fortune. I'm not going to do that.
Emily: Look, if we really were in love, and you married me, and the Cassadine businesses collapsed as a result, you'd always blame yourself. You'd beat yourself up for letting your family down. I know you, Nikolas.
Nikolas: No --
Emily: It's the way you think -- duty first.
Nikolas: No, that's not what this is about.
Emily: And I admire that about you. It's part of what makes you such a strong person. And I need to be strong, too. Strong enough to do the thing that -- that scares me the most and tell the man I love that I'm sick.
Emily: That's the real reason I can't marry you. I love Zander. And I could never marry one man or stay engaged to him when I -- when I honestly love someone else.
Nikolas: Well, I hope he knows how incredibly fortunate he is.
Emily: You know, I've been acting like an idiot for months. I've been torturing myself and Zander and taking advantage of you.
Nikolas: No, no. No, you didn't take advantage of me. I was honored that you turned to me, Emily.
Emily: I guess I have to get out of this now or -- or I really will fall in love with you. Wouldn't that be a disaster?
Nikolas: Be happy. Okay?
Nikolas: That's all I ever wanted for you.
Emily: I know. I know. Thank you.
Sonny: I can't feel anything.
Carly: Well -- well, look at your hands.
Sonny: All right.
Carly: Loosen it up, okay? Relax. You're too tense.
Sonny: Maybe I should wait till the kid's a little more predictable.
Carly: No, it's --
Sonny: Whoa. I think I -- was that it?
Carly: That was it.
Sonny: That was it?
Carly: Yes, it was.
Man: Well, Elizabeth’s gone, and Lansing left a half an hour later.
Jason: Can you play back the last conversation?
Elizabeth’s voice: Do you promise me Alcazar's not getting you involved in something illegal?
Ric's voice: No, no, I swear it's just some simple legal work, that's all. I swear, okay? And as long as that's all it is, I think it's best if I keep him happy. I will be there before the fireworks start, okay?
[Ric and Elizabeth kiss]
Elizabeth’s voice: You better.
Ric's voice: I will.
Elizabeth's voice: All right.
Elizabeth’s voice: Hurry up.
Ric's voice: You watch it with that thing, okay?
Elizabeth's voice: Okay.
Jason: Wait, wait, can you -- play that -- play that part back again.
Elizabeth’s voice: Hurry up.
Ric's voice: You watch it with that thing, okay?
Elizabeth's voice: Okay.
Jason: Did you hear that?
Man: I don't think so.
Jason: Okay, can you -- can you amplify and isolate that section of tape, because something's there, and if you can get it clear, I might be able to tell what it is.
Ned: Kristina's napping peacefully. So apparently what happened earlier didn't have a negative impact on her.
Skye: Well, what about you?
Skye: Do you think what I did was unforgivable, or do you actually see what I was trying to accomplish?
Ned: Well, you didn't tell me that you were bringing Alcazar's brother over here because you knew I would try to stop you, right?
Skye: I didn't want you to have to decide, and I made sure that Kristina was safe. I did everything that I could, including having Cameron here, just in case we were wrong about Alexis and she did have an alternate personality.
Ned: But obviously she doesn’t.
Skye: No, it was a lie to get away with murder, just like this whole Dobson thing is a lie to get away with spying. Look, you know -- we have the facts right here in front of us. Alexis is a self-righteous hypocrite who is incapable of seeing Kristina as anything but an extension of herself. Kristina equals her possession.
Ned: Alexis loves Kristina.
Skye: And she will use that love to hurt whoever she wants. Ned, she did it to you. She stomped all over you and used you, and she will do the same thing to Kristina given the chance.
Ned: So you think what you did was in Kristina’s best interest?
Skye: Yes. Yes, I do. No, I will not apologize for trying to save Kristina from the emotional damage that Alexis will eventually cause her.
Ned: If Alcazar gets near Kristina again, and if I find out that you had anything to do with it, it'll be the last time you see Kristina. Do you understand?
Skye: I do. And I swear to you it will never happen again.
Ned: I hate what you did. But I know why you did it. I had to see the truth firsthand. Alexis killed Alcazar, and then she lied to get away with it. And Kristina doesn't belong with her.
Cameron: Alexis, you have to consider your next move.
Alexis: I can't believe how stupid I was. I -- I can't believe how far she -- she went. I just admitted that I faked D.I.D. She's going to just go to the judge right away. She's going to go to the judge.
Cameron: And tell her what? That Alexis is cured? You who have been clinically diagnosed with D.I.D. confronted the brother of the man you killed, and no alternate personality emerged. All that means is that your therapy has been successful. Your personalities have integrated and, therefore, you are sane -- at least legally.
Alexis: What do you mean?
Cameron: You're fit to have your law license reinstated and fit to reclaim custody of your child.
Alexis: The Quartermaines are going to fight that.
Cameron: The Quartermaines don't have a leg to stand on. Your confrontation with Alcazar proved your sanity more than 100 psych evaluations ever could. I'll testify to that. Skye didn't win. She just gift-wrapped Kristina and dropped her in your lap.
Lydia: Nikolas. You're home. I assumed you'd be out with your fiancée enjoying the wholesome festivities of a Fourth of July picnic. Ingratiating yourself with her family, and -- now that you'll be living off them since you've left us both paupers. Unless, of course, you're more like your brother and you believe that you haven't truly lived until you've been penniless.
Nikolas: Well, in that case, Lydia, you and I are in for a long, joyless life together. Emily broke off our engagement. Which leaves me free to marry you.
Elizabeth: Did you see the lemonade stand near the gate?
Elizabeth: Yeah, Faith told me about it.
Ric: Faith was here?
Elizabeth: She made a point of telling me how she was over you and she's all about Sonny now.
Ric: She's exactly what Sonny deserves.
Elizabeth: She also told me that you envy Sonny, that you're still competing with your brother. My biggest fear is that she's right.
Ric: Faith is a crazy woman, pure and simple, okay? Thank God she moved on to Sonny and that we're free of her.
Edward: What's the point of having a picnic if the only people who show up are you two and Tracy’s demon seed?
Alan: You know, if you feel that way, why did you insist on us coming here in the first place?
Monica: Because it is a family tradition and we're going to stick it out to the bitter end.
Edward: Oh –
Sonny: Faith, what are you doing?
Faith: Hey, you made it.
Sonny: What the bureau wants, the bureau gets, you know -- me in public with the hired tramp.
Faith: You know, I do have a part to play in this myself. It would be easier if you stopped calling me names.
Sonny: Stop earning them. I don't want you. I want my wife back. Soon as you get that in your head, then we'll get along fine.
Faith: Hmm. Okay. What now?
Sonny: Okay, we watch fireworks, go back to my place, right?
Sonny: You can go ahead and stay there. Don't get any ideas, all right? You sleep in the guest room.
Lorenzo: I'm here to speak to Corinthos.
Jason: He's not here.
Lorenzo: Well, give him a message. I know where his wife is.
>> On the next "General Hospital" --
Lydia: Nikolas proposed last night.
Nikolas: It can't be changed. I'm engaged to Lydia.
Carly: Oh, my God, you're going to poison your own wife.
Faith: Take these to the master bedroom, would you?
Sonny: If you blow this deal, Faith, I will send your sorry butt back to prison.
