General Hospital Transcript Tuesday 5/6/03
Proofread by Alicia
Courtney: You've been sitting in that chair for hours? Poor baby. You must be miserable.
Jason: No, I fell asleep listening to you breathe. I missed that. How are you feeling?
Courtney: I could use my medication.
Jason: Ok, I'll get the nurse.
Courtney: Hey. Not that kind of medication.
Elizabeth: Excuse me.
Ric: Must be nice, if it's that easy for you.
Elizabeth: What did you say?
Ric: I mean, you're able to walk away. You know, no turning back, no giving us a second thought. How do you do that? I need you to give me any tips because, see, I -- I can't seem to let you go, Elizabeth. I love you. Please, give me a chance to prove it to you.
Sonny: Where do you think you going?
Carly: I'm going out.
Sonny: No. You tossed and turned last night. I bet you didn't get two straight hours. Go back to bed. I'm going to make you something to eat.
Carly: I'm fine, Sonny.
Sonny: No, you're not, you're covering. Don't try to -- I know. You don't want me to see how badly things went with Ric and how much it upset you. Am I right?
Carly: All right, I was wrong to go after him, and I admit that, but --
Sonny: But no "buts." Ric isn't yours to deal with. Your main concern right now should be you and the baby, which means eating, sleeping, and staying calm. Let me handle the rest. You think you can manage that till the baby's born?
Carly: When that day comes, we've got some serious renegotiating to do.
Sonny: Whatever you say.
Carly: Oh, don't manage me. Donít.
Sonny: What do you mean, don't manage you?
Sonny: I'm not managing you.
Carly: Oh, really?
Sonny: No, I'm not. Ouch. Now I'm managing you.
Carly: Oh, God. You are so arrogant and full of lipstick.
Sonny: Well, that's why you love me so much, right?
Carly: You sure? Huh?
Max: I tried to stop him.
Taggert: Yeah, that's right. He tried to do his job, but I got a warrant.
Sonny: Seriously, do you ever get tired of this dance, Taggert?
Carly: I do.
Taggert: Well, then it's unanimous. See, I get tired of tossing this apartment and walking away empty-handed. That pattern is about to change. We finally hit the mother lode, Sonny. Your number's up.
Emily: It's really important for you not to have any expectations, ok? I don't know who Iíll be when I get to the other side of this. And the last thing I want is for you to put your life on hold.
Zander: Ok, Emily, you can't be responsible for me. You also -- you can't tell me what to do. Look, I'll keep going. I'm going to eat, I'm going to sleep, I'm going to work, and I'm going to wait for you to come back. And when you do, I'll be waiting for you, whoever you turn out to be.
Emily: Ok. I can't make any promises, Zander, not even to myself.
Zander: I'm not asking you to. This is about as simple as it gets. I love you, Emily. You make me happy. You're the only person that ever has. Now, how can you ask me not to look forward to being happy again?
Emily: Ok. But what if I'm not that same person anymore, huh? The one you fell in love with or the one who makes you happy? I can't promise to come back to you healthy and strong, the same old Em, like nothing ever happened.
Zander: I accept that. Look, I know that you're overwhelmed. Ok, you're facing a nasty thing. You got a long fight ahead of you, and that's why you're pushing me away. I know that. But, Em, you're strong. These drugs, they ain't got nothing on you. You're brave, you're determined, and I love you more than anything. It's the same way you love me. We're going to make it.
Emily: How can you be so sure?
Zander: Because it's written in the stars. We're meant to be.
Emily: I am so sorry --
Zander: Shh, shh.
Emily: For putting you through --
Zander: No apologies. Just go get well.
Gia: I'm sorry I'm late. I checked the "Herald," and there's a comedy -- and I'll go see it. Later.
Emily: No -- Gia, please, don't go.
Zander: Emily, please don't run again.
Emily: No, I have to get going. I'm late, too, and my mom is waiting. I'll try to call you when I get back.
Gia: Emily, please don't go on my account.
Emily: No, Gia, really. It's not you, ok?
Gia: You want to shoot me now or later?
Zander: It's true, she didn't leave because of you. Something's going on with Emily. I don't know. I thought I knew what it was, and now I'm thinking that maybe I'm way off.
Elizabeth: What do you want another chance to do, Ric? Lie to me some more, maybe get me into bed a couple more times so you can feel real good about your macho self?
Ric: That's not me, and you know it.
Elizabeth: No, I donít. And that's the point. I don't know you or anything about you. I fell in love with a complete act.
Ric: No, not true. All right, I was honest with you, Elizabeth.
Elizabeth: Oh, please --
Ric: I was. I told you from the very beginning that I had an agenda that had to do with Sonny. Many times I told you. I told you it could be dangerous.
Elizabeth: And that's your justification for harming innocent people? You said it might happen? You know, Courtney and Carly may be obnoxious, but they do not deserve to be blackmailed, held hostage, or, for God's sake, Ric, raped.
Ric: I did not rape Carly, all right? You ask her. Even she knows.
Elizabeth: And now I'm supposed to believe you.
Ric: Ask her, all right? Look, I swear to you, it's true. There's a witness and everything.
Elizabeth: Oh, a witness?
Ric: Yes, Coleman. He was there, all right? He looked through the window. He saw the two of us. Look, he knows the truth, and he finally came forward.
Elizabeth: Carly still had to go through the pain.
Ric: All right, I -- I know it was unspeakable, but I made a mistake, Elizabeth
Elizabeth: Mistakes? Mistakes, Ric? What you call "mistakes," most people consider crimes. You tormented two women. I am so not interested in what you have to say.
Ric: No, look, listen to me, I grew up alone. I'm not making excuses here. But I grew up thinking that I lacked whatever it takes for a person to look at you with love, and that affected me, all right? I'm not proud of it, but that's what happened. And then all of a sudden, I find out that it wasn't me? That somebody else was responsible for the emptiness in my life?
Elizabeth: Oh, it was Sonny, and you had to find him and make him pay.
Elizabeth: And to hell with anybody who had the good fortune to get in your way, right?
Ric: You know what? Forget about Sonny, because he's managed to avenge himself. He tried to kill me. You know, maybe one day, he'll -- he will -- you know what? I may have come to this town with less than noble intentions towards my brother, but I never meant to murder him.
Elizabeth: What do you want me to believe, Ric? That this big vendetta is now finished? That you really don't want revenge against Sonny anymore?
Ric: I'd love to be able to grind my brother into the ground and just cast him off to the wind like so much dust. But I love you more than I need to hurt my brother. I mean, if I thought there was any hope of a future with you, my past wouldn't matter. Just give me a sign -- something, just -- the tiniest bit of encouragement. I will -- I'll turn my life on a dime. That's how much I want you.
Elizabeth: Like I said, I'm not interested.
Taggert: Check upstairs.
Carly: What -- they have no right to do this.
Sonny: The man has a warrant.
Carly: Yeah, and since when is that ok with you, huh?
Carly: What -- oh, you idiot! Do you have any idea how much that cost? Can you afford to replace it?
Sonny: You know what? Don't sweat it. My wife's pregnant. She's sensitive to stress. You understand what I'm saying?
Carly: Don't apologize for me. What is wrong with you?
Sonny: How can I help you? What do you think you're going to find today that you haven't found 50,000 other times?
Taggert: Well, maybe you're under the impression that this is the only place we're looking, but as we speak, search warrants are being issued in your warehouse, your office, your bank accounts, boat, car -- even your gym bag. Everything you own, rent -- every piece of paper is being gone over with a fine-tooth comb. This is the real deal, Sonny.
Sonny: You seem a little proud about that. Did this "real deal" just kind of, like, fall out of the sky?
Taggert: Lucky break.
Sonny: Amazing. So did it ever occur to you geniuses that the timing might be a little bit suspicious?
Taggert: You said you wanted to help? You still can.
Sonny: Yeah? How?
Taggert: I don't know. Sit down with the D.A., answer a few questions.
Sonny: Am I under arrest?
Taggert: No. Just extending the invitation. You can decline or accept. It's up to you.
Sonny: Well, I'm going to have to consult my attorney.
Carly: Yeah, and who exactly would that be?
Jason: Have the doctors said when you can go home?
Courtney: No. I wish they'd tell me where home is. I mean, do I go back to the loft alone or to the penthouse with you? Are we broken up or back together? Down the middle?
Jason: No, no, no, we're together. Definitely together. And we can go wherever you want to go.
Courtney: What about Sonny?
Jason: Well, we don't have to take care of him anymore. Don't have to watch his back. He's back in control.
Sonny: The police showed up here with a search warrant. Taggert says it's one of many.
Sonny: Right. Taggert says he wants to take me downtown for some questioning. And since I got nothing to hide, I might as well go.
Jason: I'm on it.
Courtney: Jason, what's going on?
Jason: I got to go. I'll be back as soon as I can.
Courtney: Well, that was Sonny, wasn't it?
Luke: You're edgy.
Summer: I'm fine.
Luke: No, you're edgy.
Summer: I'm fine.
Luke: This kind of nervousness can blow it for us. Maybe you should wait back at the hotel.
Summer: No, forget that. No. Uh-uh. If Matt shows up with a coin to sell, it connects him back to Nikolas, I'm here.
Lucky: I guess that means she's staying.
Luke: Keep an eye on her. Calm down. I'm going in.
Lucky: Ok, we got you covered.
Summer: Tell me that this isn't a bluff. Please tell me he knows what he's doing.
Lucky: 98% of the time. Those are pretty good odds, because they're the only ones we got.
Summer: Oh. Other 2% -- 2%?
Lucky: You know what? Don't think about it. Come on.
Man: May I have your attention? The auction is about to begin.
Sonny: There must have been some kind of communication breakdown. My penthouse is being vandalized as we speak.
Scott: Do you want to file a report?
Sonny: The vandals are cops.
Scott: Well, I'd be more than happy to solve your problem for you, but first, I got a couple of questions, ok?
Scott: We'll go inside. Stay here. A news flash for you -- you're the one that's out of the communication loop. The cops are not only ransacking your penthouse right now, but they're also scouring the waterfront, intercepting incoming and outgoing shipments. Your corporate account has been frozen. You can't get to it. You see, you're finished in town.
Sonny: Ok. Let's go.
Scott: You want to talk?
Sonny: Yeah, let's go. Yeah, we'll talk.
Scott: I thought so.
Sonny: Ok, Scott, you know, I've been kind of distracted lately, so Iím not up on the statues. But since when is importing coffee a crime?
Scott: You're going to try and bluff your way out of this? That's not going to fly. I've got a reliable informant that's given me enough to put you and that blue-eyed boyfriend of yours away for the rest of your miserable, stinking lives.
Sonny: Ok, let me guess -- this reliable informant -- could it be Ric Lansing? My brother?
Taggert: Freeze! Freeze! Right there. Freeze! Sorry to interrupt your little spring-cleaning party there, but you're in the process of destroying material evidence. It's been swell, Anger Boy, but you and Sonny are finally going down. Tear it apart.
Carly: What are you doing out of bed?
Courtney: I've been released. Or at least I will be when the paperwork's done.
Carly: Oh, great. Perfect timing. I will take you home, then.
Courtney: Oh, good. Then maybe you can tell me where home is.
Carly: Well, if I was going to guess, I would say it's Jasonís penthouse.
Courtney: I --
Courtney: I want to go there, I do, I just --
Carly: You just what? What's the problem?
Courtney: Just not at the expense of your family, Carly.
Carly: Ugh. So are we talking Sonny?
Courtney: Mm-hmm. Anyway, Jason says that he's back on track and that he can handle us being together, but I don't know. What do you think?
Carly: Well, let's see.
Courtney: Oh. Uh-oh. Straight to the cookies. Do not pass go.
Carly: Ok, no, no, no, no. Cookies are a natural sedative. And after the morning I had with Sonny, I deserve it.
Courtney: Well, that doesn't sound good. What happened?
Carly: Another friendly police raid. Yeah. But Sonny, he was actually handling it very well. He was calm through the whole thing.
Courtney: So is that positive? Or do you think that Sonny's -- he's still not ok?
Carly: No, I think it's positive. Yeah, I think -- it is, it's positive. And you know, honestly, I do think that Sonny would be able to handle you and Jason together. I mean, he's not going to ever love and embrace the idea, but he's -- I -- he's not going to freak out. My husband --
Carly: I love him, but he is definitely a throwback when it comes to women. Hmm-hmm-hmm. Oh, I do hope I am right about this little one and it is a boy. Can you imagine Sonny with a daughter?
Courtney: Oh, God help her.
Carly: Ooh-ooh! He would put her in convent school, and she wouldn't be allowed to date anyone until she was, you know, 21.
Courtney: Even then, only in the company of two burly bodyguards.
Carly: Yeah, and she'd never be allowed to be alone with a guy -- till her wedding night.
Courtney: Hmm, and then the guards would get permission to stand right outside her door.
Carly: Yeah, right.
Courtney: Right outside. I think you're right. I think a boy would have it much easier.
Carly: Yeah. That's it.
Courtney: What is?
Carly: I have the answer. You have to propose to Jason today.
Courtney: Are you out of your mind?
Carly: What? No.
Courtney: I'm not proposing to Jason, Carly.
Carly: Why not? Huh? You love him, he loves you, and this is the perfect way to win Sonny over. Your brother is a total sucker for priests and chapels. Oh! And you know what? It's got to be a catholic wedding. Hope you don't mind. They're so beautiful! You all dressed in white and Jason kneeling in front of the altar, and there will be a boys choir singing and chanting in Latin, and there will be candles, they'll be flickering everywhere, especially under the shrine of the holy mother. Flowers -- oh, flowers. Lilies -- white ones everywhere. Everything will be white. And the priest, he'll be in white, but he'll have this, like, purple sash around him and he swings this incense thing and --
Courtney: Ok, you know what? That is it. No more sugar for you. You're delirious.
Carly: Courtney, this is not delirium, ok? This is divine inspiration, because once your marriage is blessed by the church, Sonny is going to see it in a whole new light, because he is a very traditional man.
Courtney: Really? Ok, Carly, listen to me carefully. Erase that idea from your head. When I count to three, you're going to forget we ever had this conversation.
Courtney: Well -- for one, the ink's not even dry from my divorce from A.J.
Carly: Oh, good. So you're free, then, already?
Courtney: Oh -- my God. No, Jason hasn't even said a word about marriage, ok?
Carly: Well, that's because Jason doesn't think about this stuff. It doesn't enter his mind, but I promise you, he will say yes when you propose.
Courtney: Carly, you're not listening to me. I am not proposing.
Carly: Why? Are you against marriage now?
Courtney: No, of course not.
Carly: Well, then are you opposed to marrying Jason?
Courtney: No, but just not right --
Carly: Well, what's the problem? Do you not see yourself loving him every single day for the rest of your lives, every day together?
Courtney: No. But just listen.
Carly: I mean, the fact is, Courtney, you guys are practically already married --
Courtney: Ok, Carly, can I get a word in? Please? Thank you. Ok. When I get married again -- if I get married again -- I want it to be to someone who wants to marry me so badly, he'd do the actual proposal.
Carly: Oh, my God. And you think that Sonny's in a time warp. Ok, Courtney, it's fine. Don't worry. I will talk to Jason.
Courtney: No, no, no, no, no. No, you will not. You're not going to humiliate me. Not a word about marriage to Jason. Promise me.
Carly: I promise you, ok? Calm down. It's all right. I won't do anything to ever humiliate you.
Scott: Yeah, I heard about you and Lansing being brothers. Your family's kind of different -- funny, in a way.
Sonny: What does that mean?
Scott: Well, most people that come from big families, you know, they know who the brothers and sisters are. They're right there in the house. But, see, your family expanded late in life, so every couple of years up pops a grown sibling.
Sonny: Do you stay up at night thinking about this stuff?
Sonny: Let me tell you something just so you don't waste any more time. Ric, my brother, has a big problem with me, and he's using your office and the cops' government resources to work it out. Whatever evidence Ric is going to give you is fabricated.
Scott: Well, we'll see about that.
Jason: Enjoy it while it lasts.
Ric: That wouldn't be a threat, would it, Jason? Right here in the middle of the precinct, in front of Taggert and all these nice officers? I would have thought you had enough problems. Do you really need to be brought up on another charge?
Scott: What do we got here, Taggert?
Taggert: We apprehended Morgan destroying evidence.
Jason: It wasn't -- it wasn't evidence.
Sonny: Yeah, you know anything about that there, Ric?
Ric: No, I don't know anything about it. A contact in the department told me that you'd be brought in. I came down to see if I could offer my legal services.
Sonny: Who are you trying to impress with this act? Not the cops or D.A. Baldwin. They already know you're on their side. Not Jason. He knows you for the garbage that you are. And you sure aren't trying to impress me, because I don't want to know you at all.
Ric: Fine. I'm out of here.
Zander: I know that Emily loves me. I don't know, but I can see it in her eyes. Then something happens. She'll be with me, believing in our future together, on the verge of opening up, and then -- bam. Shuts down.
Gia: Please don't tell me Emily was about to open up when I came blundering in.
Zander: Oh, trust me, even if you hadn't shown up, Emily would have found some reason to run.
Gia: Why do you think she's so spooked?
Zander: She says it's the drug thing, but I -- I don't know. It's just -- doesn't ring true. It's as if --
Gia: As if?
Zander: She's leaving something out.
Gia: Maybe she is.
Monica: Ok. Consent form -- fill out and sign.
Emily: Ok, you explained it to me before. I know what it says.
Monica: All right, then let me tell you what do expect.
Emily: No, I don't want to hear it.
Monica: Well, let me tell you anyway, Emily. Just listen. While you're under, they're going to be checking your lymph nodes. They're going to inject some blue dye that's going to detect the sentinel node. They're going to take that to pathology and have it tested for cancer. They're going to remove the lump and some other tissue surrounding it. And if that tissue tests cancer-free, then you're --
Emily: Ok, let's just jump to what's on both of our minds. Ok, worst case, they're going to cut off my breast, right?
Monica: Emily, they're going to do whatever they have to do to save your life, and I thank God for that.
Zander: Wait a second. You think Emilyís hiding something from me?
Gia: Maybe not hiding, exactly. Holding something back? Maybe.
Zander: Like what, for instance?
Gia: Well, how should I know? Could be anything.
Zander: Well, you sound like you got some sort of idea.
Gia: Yeah, which may not apply.
Zander: Well, I think you should tell me.
Gia: I fell hard for Nikolas, right? He was my dream come true -- handsome, smart, rich, sexy. We were perfect together, made for each other. Until one day, we werenít. I don't know how or when, but somewhere along the line, things got lost.
Zander: You just woke up one morning and you didn't love him anymore?
Gia: No, it was more gradual than that.
Zander: You think that might be what happened with Emily? You think she fell out of love with me?
Gia: I'm just suggesting, you know, based on my personal experience that, you know, maybe you and Emily have grown apart. But, you know, what do I know? I am certainly not a relationship expert. You know, I'm probably way off base.
Zander: If Emilyís feelings changed that much, wouldn't I feel that?
Scott: The penthouse?
Scott: The warehouse?
Scott: What about those dummy corporate accounts?
Taggert: Nothing, no proof. And every single computer hard drive was either destroyed or completely corrupted.
Scott: Taggert, how does this happen?
Taggert: Nobody ever said Sonny wasn't smart.
Scott: Corinthos, you and your girlfriend are free to go.
Sonny: We are?
Sonny: I thought we were -- that he was under arrest and I was going to be and you had all this evidence coming in and --
Scott: I do, and it keeps coming in. Now get lost.
Sonny: Ok, wait, wait, wait. Let me give you a word of advice -- next time you try to, you know, make the big score, try to find a more credible witness than Ric Lansing.
Ric: You following me?
Faith: No. But I'm done waiting. I want the tire iron that killed Fowler.
Ric: See, Iíve already told you, but maybe I need to say it again for clarity. That's my trump card. I don't plan on using it until Iím absolutely ready to.
Faith: Well, I am telling you to get ready. See, my survival depends on framing Jason for that murder and sending him to prison.
[noise] [Courtney overhears]
Faith: The longer you wait, the harder it will be to pin Fowler's murder on Jason.
Ric: It's a non-issue, ok, Faith? Jason's fingerprints are all over the murder weapon.
Faith: Conveniently camouflaging the fact that you actually killed him. Well, listen up. I want the tire iron now, or the police will happen to hear the truth.
Ric: Oh, that's not nice. But you're bluffing. It's more proof that you're desperate. You know, whatever little power you thought you had over me, it's all gone.
Faith: Doesn't take much to get you all cocky, does it? Big deal. So you're Sonny's brother? So what? Doesn't mean he won't come after you, too.
Ric: No, see, now, that's where you're wrong. He's not going to invite me over for thanksgiving dinner, but Sonny just doesn't have it in him to kill his own brother. You're not getting the tire iron, so stop stalking me.
Lucky: Any sign of Matthew?
Summer: Not yet.
Auctioneer: I have a bid of 9,700. Do I hear 10,000?
Man: 10 grand.
Auctioneer: The gold ruble is now priced at 10,000. Do I hear 10,500? The item is going -- going --
Luke: [Russian accent] 10,500.
Auctioneer: 10,500. Going once, going twice, sold. Congratulations, Senor. Thank you all for your participation. Refreshments will be provided for your enjoyment out front. You are pleased with your purchase, Senor?
Luke: Oh, yes. It is beautiful.
Auctioneer: It is now time to -- how do the Americans say? -- Pay up.
Luke: Well, charming American expression. I pay up.
Auctioneer: I'm sorry. I thought you understood. This is a cash transaction.
Luke: Cash is crazy. Who carry this kind of cash? Ah. No problem. Do you have a pen?
Auctioneer: I repeat, cash only.
Luke: I think under circumstances, you make exception.
Man: You have three choices -- drop the coin and go away, keep the coin and pay cash, or leave feet first.
Luke: I think I take option two, Matthew.
Matthew: How do you know my name?
Luke: Matthew and I have private conversation now, yes?
Matthew: Am I supposed to know you?
Luke: I am friend of your sister.
Matthew: What sister?
Luke: [Russian accent] you're telling me you don't have a sister?
Matthew: That's right.
Luke: What is Summer?
Matthew: What, this is about Summer?
Luke: So you know her.
Matthew: Sure, but we're not related.
Luke: How close are you with her?
Matthew: Depends on what you mean. We partnered up.
Luke: Did you partner up with or against Nikolas Cassadine? The two of you are so crazy clever. It's difficult to keep track of details.
Matthew: Nikolas Cassadine? How'd you come up with him?
Luke: The coins. The Russian coins whisper in my Russian ear.
Luke: Oh. [Normal voice] so who did this? Don't know who did it? Was it a Cassadine? Where did you get the coin? Where?
Luke: Dolena? Tell me about Dolena. What do you know? Ah.
Summer: Oh, my God!
Faith: It's me.
Ric: Really, Faith, this is getting very boring.
Faith: We have a problem, a serious problem.
[knock on door]
Ric: Got to go.
Faith: Wait, Ric. Don't Ė
Jason: What's wrong?
Carly: Wrong? Nothing's wrong. I just had to drop something off for Michael. He's spending the night with my mom.
Jason: Carly, what's the emergency? Is the baby -- is the baby ok?
Carly: Oh, the baby's fine. Everyone's fine.
Jason: Well, if everyone's fine, why do you keep leaving me emergency messages?
Carly: Because I needed to make sure that you would come.
Jason: How many times have I asked you not to do this?
Carly: A lot. But I came up with a solution.
[Car horn honks]
Carly: You and Courtney just need to get married.
>> On the next "General Hospital" --
Summer: Did he say anything?
Luke: He said he isn't your brother.
Emily: Mom, Iím so scared.
Carly: Oh, my God.
Sonny: The winner is always standing, and that is always going to be me.
