Ric: You're saying that you believe Jax over me?
Jason: Is that a joke?
Cameron: You didn't kill your brother.
Emily: Kristina's all right.
Ned: Where is she?
Emily: I can't say.
Faith: I'm surprised you'd come to a meeting like this, leaving your wife and child all alone.
Jason: Everything's fine. Everything's ok.
Courtney: Sonny has to trust you. Prove to him that he can by breaking up with me.
Jason: You really ok?
Sonny: I don't know what's going on, Jason. I think I'm losing it.
Sonny: They're afraid all the time. They believe I can't protect them. I'm going to lose my family.
Jason: No, your family is safe. Nothing's going to happen to them.
Sonny: I know you see it coming. Not today, maybe, but soon. Everybody I love is going to be gone, one by one, because of this.
Faith: What's the big emergency?
Ric: By this time tomorrow, we could both find ourselves at the bottom of that river.
Faith: Hmm. Well, I'll miss you deeply, Ric, but somehow Iíll find the courage to carry on.
Ric: If I die, so do you.
Faith: Would you lighten up?
Ric: You know what? This whole tough-as-nails act is going to be a little hard to pull off once they've slit your throat.
Faith: For somebody who claims to be a player, you sure do panic easy.
Ric: Sonny is dangerous. Ask your dead husband.
Faith: Sonny just got through babbling like a mental case in front of the five families. The only person he's dangerous to is himself.
Ric: Sonny's enforcer is still dangerous. Jason went to Jax with the whole story. It took Jax maybe about five seconds to convince Jason that those photos were a setup and that he had nothing to do with the plot against Sonny, all right? Best case -- they're going to figure that incompetent lawyer Ric misread the photos, all right? All is forgiven, but they're going to want to know exactly where those photos came from in the first place, so I blame you. Worst case -- Jason finds out, figures that someone set Jax up. He leans on me and I blame you, all right? So either way, I blame you. My advice is to come up with a really extraordinary plan B, yesterday.
Faith: I thought you'd never ask.
Lucky: You're here to see Nikolas about your brother?
Summer: Yeah, well, you know, he says he's got information about Matt, and I've just got to find out.
Lucky: I understand. It's a bad idea.
Summer: I don't care. Seriously, the man's got information about my brother, and I'm going to do whatever it takes to get that information and bring him home. I'm not giving up.
Lucky: Hey, Summer -- you know there's a better way. Just let me help you.
Luke: Time to drop a mint on the fluffy little pillow and depart, nurse.
Nikolas: Thank you. Thank you. Very sweet. Thanks.
Luke: Get out.
Nikolas: She's private duty.
Luke: I hope you'll both be very happy. Kind of dark in here, and you got something to sign. I'm going to put on a lamp --
Nikolas: Luke, don't -- don't touch the lights, please. I'm still fighting this concussion.
Luke: Have it your own way. This document turns Lauraís guardianship over to me. Since you need time to recover from that little bump on the head and you're in no condition to continue our dance, I assume you'll agree.
Luke: You dated it --
Nikolas: That's right.
Luke: But no signature. Try again.
Nikolas: I agree with nearly everything you've said, Luke. I do. I am in absolutely no condition to fight you over this. So Iíll tell you what I'll do. I'll sign the guardianship over to you on one condition.
Luke: And that condition is?
Zander: Peter died because of me, because I was careless.
Cameron: There was no hunting accident. You had nothing to do with Peterís death at all.
Zander: Look, I fired the shot that killed my brother! One slug right through the middle of the chest. I got to live with this every day. I go through -- I go through it in my head a million times. I aimed, I shot at the buck, and I slipped and missed. Pete was supposed to be back and to the right, but he wasnít. He was in the tall bushes. I -- I was supposed to be more aware. I should've been more careful, I should've been more intelligent, more everything. But I wasn't, Dad. I shot him and I killed him, and I have to -- I got to live with that forever.
Cameron: All these years you've been punishing yourself for a lie. Don't you want to know the truth? When I found Pete lying there, I thought it was an accident but I was wrong. Your brother took his own life. Pete committed suicide.
Alexis: Emily, would you do me a favor and just take her in the other room for a minute?
Emily: I'm so sorry --
Alexis: It's all right, sweetheart.
Ned: You don't need to be sorry. You did nothing wrong, Emily.
Alexis: It's all right. Thank you, Emily.
Ned: So you kidnapped Kristina and you then you guilted Emily into keeping quiet?
Alexis: Why don't you let me explain, Ned?
Ned: You lied to me. You -- you looked in my face and you swore that you didn't take her.
Alexis: If you --
Ned: Do you hate me that much, or are you even aware of what you've done? You kidnapped Kristina, you feigned outrage, you blame me for letting it happen, and you know what? It worked because I felt very guilty about letting our little girl down.
Alexis: I'm not the one that took Kristina, Ned. A.J. and Skye did it.
Alexis: Skye and A.J. Kidnapped the baby from the nursery, left a note, and took the baby to Brenda's old cottage.
Ned: Those two always make good suspects, but why in the world would they want to take Kristina?
Alexis: They were using her as a power play with Edward. I found the baby, went to return the baby to the Quartermaine house, where I overheard Edward saying that he would move heaven and earth to keep my daughter away from me. Now, you add that to the fact that he tried to burn down your gatehouse, and I did what any parent with an ounce of sanity would do.
Ned: And how long have you had her? I mean, how many days did you leave me and everyone else who loves Kristina to wait and worry?
Alexis: I could've left the country, but I didn't, Ned. I stayed right here in Port Charles. I wanted to spend a little longer with my daughter before I was forced to return her to a household of dysfunctional lunatics that you call a family!
Ned: You're not even sorry --
Alexis: I'm not sorry, Ned --
Ned: You have no remorse for the hell you put me through!
Emily: What are you going to do, Ned?
Ned: I'm taking Kristina back to the house, and then Iím going to report her kidnappers to the police.
Alexis: Is that what you want? You want me convicted, Ned?
Ned: Alexis, I don't give a damn what happens to you anymore.
Cameron: We would've known sooner, but neither your mother or I could bear to go into his room. I shut myself up in my study for months. Your mother sat in the living room with --
Zander: Wait, wait, wait -- what does this have to do with Pete?
Cameron: One night, late, I heard your mother cry out in Peterís room. When I got there, she was sitting at his desk with the suicide note in her hand. He'd tucked it into his journal.
Zander: What did it say?
Cameron: That he wanted to be a good son, a good brother. He felt guilty for the distance that had come between you and me, felt like it was his fault for stealing all the attention -- "all the glory," as he put it. He felt he didn't deserve it, that his whole life was a lie, that he wasn't special, he wasn't excellent. He was too tired to keep up the charade. He didn't want to embarrass the family. He didn't want anybody but us to know.
Zander: That's Pete -- always looking out for everybody else.
Cameron: The last day of the season, he knew the woods would be full of hunters. He could make it look like an accident. No one would know that he'd taken his own life.
Zander: He took thought and care into taking his own life, and he wanted you to see that. Even dead, he was seeking your approval, Dad. That's pretty sick. You had him completely suckered. I think it worked, Dad. I think he got you this time. He planned the perfect suicide. Did it ever occur to you to come to me and tell me this, to track me down? Or how about the first time that we saw each other, instead of continuing blaming me for thinking that I killed my brother?
Cameron: He was clinically depressed, and I couldn't see it. The pressure that I put on the two of you destroyed him. Alexander, I didn't want it to destroy you, too, and I felt you'd be better off hating me.
Zander: Oh, come on! Come on! That's a total copout! You don't care about me. You never did, you never will. All you care about is your image. You can't be the perfect family psychiatrist, trying to fix other people's problems if they knew that the great Dr. Cameron Lewis drove his own son to the grave.
Nikolas: My mother's condition has deteriorated since your last visit, Luke.
Luke: She was catatonic when I saw her last. How much worse could it be?
Nikolas: Well, see, that's the catch that I mentioned. I won't sign guardianship over to you until you go and visit her and see her condition for yourself.
Luke: You want me to visit her?
Nikolas: That's right.
Luke: That means I get to see her after I pass through the minefields and the guard dogs, the stun guns? What?
Nikolas: Listen -- listen, Luke, it's -- maybe I was wrong about the connection that you two share. I mean, maybe you really are the only one who can help her. So if you go see her, I will sign this over to you.
Luke: I'll call you from London.
Nikolas: Well, see, that's the thing -- she's not in London. After you and I were fighting over and over about her care, I had her transferred to another hospital.
Luke: What have you done with her?
Faith: Well, if you do what I say, it saves your life and weakens Sonny at the same time.
Ric: Well, there's one small problem there, Faith. Why should I trust you?
Faith: Well, because I have excellent survival instincts.
Faith: That's how I was able to walk out of that warehouse after Sonny ordered my execution. And there is one other reason. You have no other options.
Ric: That's true.
Ric: That's true. You know, if you -- if you double-cross me again -- last time, I put a bullet in your chest. This time, Iíll make sure it goes right through your heart.
Elizabeth: Do you mind telling me what just happened here? Because it looked like you're involved with that woman, and if you are, can't you just have the decency to tell me to my face?
Ric: No, no, no, no. Elizabeth, don't jump to any kind of conclusions --
Elizabeth: I'm not jumping to conclusions. I see Sonny's new attorney with his sworn enemy. Are you guys friends? Is there something more?
Ric: No, we're not friends.
Elizabeth: Have you been lying to me?
Ric: I'm not lying to you.
Elizabeth: You know what? Forget it. I don't even want to know -- what was that?
Ric: Look; I'm just trying to keep you here long enough so you'll listen to me.
Ric: Look, as Sonny's attorney, part of my job is to make sure that I handle Sonny's enemies. Right now, Faith Rosco is Sonny's principle enemy and I was handling her.
Elizabeth: Yeah, you certainly were.
Ric: No, it's business.
Elizabeth: Well, it didn't look like business.
Ric: Elizabeth, I have -- I have tried not to ask you for anything. I have not used you, and I never will for any reason. Ok, you think about it. Besides -- besides the pleasure of your company, all right, what strategic advantage could I possibly gain from being in a relationship with you?
Elizabeth: A lot of free coffee?
Ric: You found me out.
Elizabeth: Ok, I'm sorry. You know, how about after you're done handling whatever it is you have to do, why don't you come over to my house and I'll make you dinner?
Ric: I'd love to, but I got to work. It has nothing to do with Faith. Ok?
Sonny: I lost it in front of the five families. I thought that Faith had killed all of you. They all know I'm weak, Jason. They're going to have to do something.
Jason: No, nobody knows you're weak, Sonny. The five families are afraid of you. Remember that. You can back them down.
Sonny: Not when Iím like this. What am I going to do?
Jason: Look, when this happened last time, I mean, I covered for you until you were stronger. Just let me do that for you.
Sonny: Ok. What about Michael? Is he scared? Did he get scared?
Carly: Michael's all right. He's completely fine. I told him that daddy has been a little worried. He understands. He's ok now.
Sonny: I think I need to rest a little bit. Jason said he's going to take care of things, right?
Jason: That's right. Going to make it good.
Carly: That's good because, you know, you'll feel better when you just allow yourself to relax a little bit.
Jason: You call me if you need anything.
Carly: I will.
Sonny: Thank you.
Carly: You want to go upstairs, lie down for a little bit, sweetheart?
Sonny: No, I don't want -- I don't --
Sonny: I'm going to stay on the couch. It's like I'm underwater, you know?
Carly: Ok. You just rest here --
Sonny: All right.
Carly: Because we're all safe -- me and Michael -- and we're not going anywhere.
Carly: I promise you.
Emily: All right, look, you have every right to be angry, but at least give Alexis a chance to explain.
Ned: Explain what? The night that Kristina was kidnapped, why were you there? Were you there to visit, or did you plan to kidnap her? That's why you brought the baby carrier, right? You planned to kidnap Kristina, but A.J. and Skye beat you to it.
Alexis: I was wrong, Ned. But I'm asking you not to go to the police. I am asking you not to do that to me, and more importantly, I am asking you not to do that to Kristina.
Ned: You are a deeply disturbed woman. You have your reasons for doing what you do, but you need serious professional help, and clearly Cameron is not the man to give you that help.
Cameron: I did exactly what Alexis needs most.
Summer: Why are you so interested in helping me find my brother?
Lucky: It's simple. Just know that my brother -- he's Ė
Sonny: You sure Michaelís all right?
Carly: You want to know how all right Michael is? He is upstairs right now, and he asked me could he please just study the last five words for his spelling bee. The teachers say he's so wonderful --
Carly: So smart, so involved. He's so happy that he knows 95 of the 100 words. You don't have to worry at all about him.
Sonny: Don't stop talking. That felt good.
Carly: He's happy and he's healthy, and he loves you so much.
Carly: He loves you.
Jason: What -- what are you doing?
Courtney: I explained in the letter that I just --
Jason: No, you got to say it to my face.
Courtney: I love you too much. I just didn't think that I had the strength to say goodbye.
Jason: Then don't.
Courtney: Jason, when Michael came to see you today, he -- he told me that he wanted you to take him far away to some island because he thinks it's his fault that his daddy's sick. And he's trying so hard --
Jason: Did you explain to him that he's going to get better, that it's not his fault?
Courtney: How can I promise Michael something that I don't know myself? The only way I know how to help is to leave.
Jason: This is what Iíve been trying to tell you all along, Courtney. It's not about you. It's not about us. Yeah, Sonny's mad that we're together and maybe he will be for a long time, but that's not what's making him sick right now. It's happened before. He just starts drinking too much, he doesn't think clearly. He blames himself for what he's lost and he tries to destroy whatever he has left. And there's nothing that you can do to help except stop him from hurting himself and just wait it out. Because the darkness passes, Courtney. I mean, he'll come out of this. He'll pull himself out of it. There's nothing that you can do for him. You can't help Sonny by breaking up with me.
Courtney: It takes some of the pressure off, and if Sonny's not fighting with you over me, then maybe he can relax.
Jason: Or maybe he just -- he needs time. He just needs time to bring himself out of this again.
Courtney: Jason, Carlyís pregnant. Michael's in the house. They are all suffering. How can we be happy if -- if it means tearing a family apart?
Sonny: Carly? Carly? Carly!
Carly: Hey, hey, what's wrong? What's wrong? Hmm?
Sonny: Where were you?
Carly: I wanted to let you sleep, so I went in the kitchen to make a call and just check in on Courtney over at Jasonís.
Sonny: Well, I didn't know where you were. Why didn't you tell me where you were going?
Carly: I just -- you want to go upstairs, take a shower, maybe?
Sonny: Why were you calling Courtney?
Carly: I just wanted to say hi. She wasn't there, and I asked Marco where she went. He said that she packed up her things and left because she and Jason broke up.
Jason: We are not over.
Courtney: We can't be. I love you too much to ever let you go. But we have to stay apart, at least until Sonny gets better. Just please don't be mad at me.
Jason: I know you're trying to do the right thing. And I'll stop fighting you. I'll just try to stay away to make it easier.
Courtney: I'll miss you every second.
Courtney: If you -- if you don't leave right now, I'm not going to be able to let you go at all.
Jason: I love you. Always, no matter what.
Courtney: I love you, too.
Ned: What's your plan, Dr. Lewis? Are you going to hold me hostage? Huh?
Cameron: You need to have Kristinaís interests at heart.
Ned: Oh, I'm looking after Kristina. That's why Iím getting her away from the people who violated a court order to keep her from her family.
Cameron: The baby you're talking about happens to be Alexis' child. She gave birth to Kristina. Why do you treat Alexis like she's some lonely head case who's obsessively attached to someone else's little girl? If you love Kristina half as much as you claim, you wouldn't be in such a hurry to return her to a family who plays interfamily kidnapping the way other families play touch football.
Ned: So instead I should hand her over to a mother who has already committed two felonies -- one with the help of her so-called shrink, who promised a judge that he would help her cope?
Cameron: That's exactly what Iím doing.
Ned: Really? Look around you. Alexis and Kristina and holed up in a cabin, like fugitives. That's your idea of coping?
Cameron: And your solution is, what, to have her arrested?
Ned: I am not the villain here. I am not keeping Kristina away from her mother. She is. Every time she breaks this court order, she is risking her future with her child because she insists on seeing her!
Cameron: When you return to that house, babe in arms, Edward will have everything he needs to destroy Alexis. And he will do a very thorough job of it. Is that really what you want, Ned? Is your revenge so important that you're going to take away Kristinaís one chance to have a mother?
Emily: Wait. Let me take her back. Look, I can return Kristina to the Quartermaines without giving them anything else. No names, no explanations. I'll just give her back and this whole mess will be over.
Alexis: Emily, I can't let you do that.
Ned: I don't want you involved in this.
Emily: Look, I already am involved, and I want to be. My whole family loves and trusts me. They would never suspect me of kidnapping, would they?
Ned: I realize that, but that's not the point. You can't get involved.
Emily: Look, I'm the only one here who has nothing to lose. Alexis, you could lose your baby and go to prison for years. Dr. Lewis, you would be arrested, too, and lose your license. Ned will have to tell what happened with Alexis or risk being charged with kidnapping himself. But I can --
Zander: Emily -- hey, look, Edward and the rest of them will be on you like vultures, and you know it. They will never stop pulling at you until you tell them everything -- where you've been, who took the baby, why you have her.
Emily: All right, look, look, I have handled my family for years. They can push and they can pull all they want, but I still won't say anything. Look, I want to do this. I need to. Please let me help. This means more to me than I can say.
Zander: Ok, look, if Emilyís doing this, I'm going to help her.
Summer: Hi, Nikolas. How are you feeling?
Nikolas: My head hurts. Most of the time I can't tolerate the light, and most of the time I'm dizzy. But other than that, Summer, I'm doing just great. I guess I can consider myself lucky that the CAT scan came back clean.
Summer: Yeah, that's pretty scary. Hey, I brought these. If you got some water, I can --
Nikolas: Summer, just give them to another, more deserving patient, ok?
Summer: You're joking, right?
Nikolas: No, not at all.
Summer: You need to relax. Let me just give you a little back rub.
Nikolas: No, thank you. One of the basics of your trade? Is that what that would be?
Summer: No, I can -- I can smuggle you in some really great food. I can get you some C.D.s that are your favorites; I can get you some books on alternative healing.
Nikolas: Summer, I have my own private staff and my own private nurse who will bring me anything that I want. So, to spell it out for you -- there is nothing you can do for me, nor is there anything I can do for you.
Summer: You can tell me where my brother is.
Nikolas: I'm sorry, Summer. I don't have a clue where Mark is.
Nikolas: Or Matt. To be honest, I don't think I ever knew where he was or even if he's alive.
Summer: You're lying to me. You're sitting here lying to me. You showed up at my door, you knew that my brother was missing, you knew his name was Matt, you knew how old he was --
Nikolas: Oh, Summer, it was an educated guess, you know? And most of the time I was telling you exactly what you wanted to hear because I wanted you to take the job.
Summer: Bull! You're saying this to deliberately hurt me! You're saying this because you're upset that your stupid little plan backfired, and now you -- what, what, this is payback? Is that what it is? You like mind games and you're a talented liar, but I see through you. You know where my brother is.
Carly: Hey. Drink up.
Sonny: Hey. Why?
Carly: Because I have to for the baby and because I figure you should, too. It's full of vitamins. You haven't had anything in your stomach but scotch for the last week and a half, so, come on, have a little sip for me.
[knock on door]
Carly: I'll get it. Stay. Listen, this is a bad time.
Ric: No, Carly, I just need to speak to Sonny for a minute, ok? It's very important.
Carly: You know, he's busy.
Sonny: That's all right, Carly. I can do this.
Carly: You were going to rest?
Sonny: No, it's business. I can -- I need to handle this.
Carly: Fine, I'll go to Courtneyís. I'm going to go tell Jason that Ric's here, ok?
Sonny: All right.
Ric: Well, I just want to clear up all this confusion about Jax and Faith. I'm sure Jasonís already told you about it. Well, to bring you up to speed, Jason confronted Jax about the photos of him and Faith on the pier, and -- well, Jax flatly denied it and he -- he convinced Jason that it was all a setup. And it's a possibility, considering the fact that the photos --
Jason: I saw Carly. She said you were meeting with Ric.
Ric: I was -- I was just explaining to Sonny that I was following up on the possibility that these photos between Jax and Faith were staged, given the fact that Fowler was the one who took the pictures in the first place. He's Faith's enforcer, all right? He may have been --
Jason: You said you hired someone to follow Jax. Isn't that what you said, Ric?
Ric: Yes, I did, Jason. Yes, I did, and who's better than one of Faith's own people?
Jason: And why are you just telling Sonny about this now?
Ric: Oh --
Sonny: It's all right; it's all right, Jason. You know what? Ric was supposed to tell me if there was a problem. Good work.
Summer: You were right. Nikolas claims that he knows nothing about my brother.
Lucky: What, do you think he's lying?
Summer: Well, he knew too much information about Matt. He's obviously at least had him investigated.
Lucky: There's probably a P.I.'s report.
Summer: I doubt that Iím going to get him to hand it over just by asking politely, though, so --
Lucky: You know what? Then we'll have to take it, won't we?
Nikolas: I don't have a schedule for you. Just stay alert. Summer and Lucky are bound to show up, and when they do, you follow them and make sure that they cannot leave.
Alexis: Thank you for not calling the police.
Ned: I said some harsh things. I was angry and hurt.
Alexis: I know. I haven't exactly been a paragon of reason lately. I know that you love Kristina, and I know that she's going to need you, just as she's going to need me.
[knock on door]
Carly: Hey. What's going on?
Courtney: Come in.
Carly: What's up?
Courtney: Uh -- Jason just left.
Carly: You --
Courtney: I asked him to leave. I was just hoping that he was going to come back.
Carly: I understand why you're doing what you're doing, but why didn't you come to me? Why'd you let me find out from one of the bodyguards?
Courtney: Well, because I knew you'd try to talk me out of it. You know I love Jason, and I will always be grateful for the way you encouraged me to fight for him. But I can't do it at Sonny's expense. I've thought a whole lot about this, and I'm not going to change my mind, so please don't say anything --
Carly: I'm not going to say anything except I'm here for you. Because I'm your friend and I just wanted to know how you're doing.
Sonny: You proved your loyalty, Ric. See what else you can find on Faith. We need to identify, you know, the silent partner.
Ric: I'm already on it. Sonny, don't worry about it. We're going to -- we're going to shut this guy down.
Jason: Sonny --
Sonny: It's him.
Jason: What -- what do you mean?
Sonny: Ric is Faith's silent partner.
>> On the next "General Hospital" --
Courtney: What else do I have to give up to make my big brother happy?
Zander: That's exactly what we need -- getting pulled over with a kidnapped baby.
Faith: You're out of your league. You may be sleeping with him, baby cakes, but you don't know him.
Jason: Now that we know Lansing is working with Faith, I can remove him.
