>> Previously on "General Hospital" --

Judge: I find Alexis Davis not guilty by reason of temporary insanity. I am awarding full custody of her daughter to Ned Ashton.

Ned: Stay away from me, or you'll wish you had.

Carly: If this situation does not change between you and Jason, it's going to end up destroying all of us.

Jason: Sonny chose to make things this way. I have no regrets, as long as you're with me.

Sonny: No!

Carly: Hey? Hey, you all right?

Sonny: Yeah, I'm fine.

Carly: You sure?

Sonny: Yeah.

Carly: I thought you were going to come to bed last night, and you never did. I heard you up pacing around. Sweetheart, you need to get some rest.

Sonny: I'm fine. I'll be back.

Elizabeth: Shoot. Ugh.

Ric: Bad morning?

Elizabeth: Hey. Would be nice if Courtney could show up early for once.

Ric: I don't think you're going to see her. Her brother's accountant, Benny Abrams -- he died. His funeral is this morning.

Elizabeth: Oh. Are you going?

Ric: I didn't work closely with the man, but as a show of respect --

Elizabeth: To Sonny.

Ric: I need for him to see me there.

Elizabeth: You know, you're nothing like Sonny or Jason or the people who work for Sonny. What Iíd really like to understand is, why are you so determined to be a part of that world? It's not like Sonny's welcoming you with open arms.

Ric: Well, that is true. I mean, things are changing. Sonny views me differently now that there's this rift between he and Jason.

Elizabeth: You would never do Jasonís job, would you?

Ric: No. There are aspects of Sonny's business that are safer and much more profitable.

Elizabeth: Name one.

Ric: Benny's job.

Ric: Elizabeth, Iím telling you this because I trust you and because I think you deserve to know. This is business, okay? An opportunity opens up, I have to go for it. Now, I know that Benny liked to call himself Sonny's accountant, but the truth is he was the heart and soul of Sonny's business.

Elizabeth: Okay, but why don't you aim higher? You know, you could be running a corporation like E.L.Q. or --

Ric: Okay. I appreciate the compliment and the concern, but Sonny's prospects are much more enticing to me. Don't worry about the danger, okay? I'm sliding into Bennyís chair. It's the safest seat in the house.

Edward: The pieces are all falling into place. And you should be prepared to act at a moment's notice.

Alan: Provided you agree to my conditions.

Edward: I said yes, didn't I?

Alan: Fine. You'd better make sure that A.J. gets his shares back.

Edward: All right, I will speak to the ingrate today. But I need you to stay focused because the whole thing depends on your doing your part.

Alan: Don't worry. I will.

Monica: Have you lost your mind? Every time Edward comes up with one of his schemes, it's the family who pays for it.

Edward: Oh, here I am, the devil incarnate again.

Monica: Well, that's because you prove it time and time again. Edward is the only one who wins at these things. Haven't you gotten that through your head yet?

Edward: Don't you ever get tired of being paranoid, Monica?

Monica: Well, being paranoid in this family is a sign of sanity. Please, whatever it is that he's up to, please have the good sense to stay away from it.

Alan: Father's right. You're paranoid.

A.J.: Good morning. Got your message. So, what's the big plan?

Ned: Look at this. You know what this says? "Kristina." Do you know what it means? To your daddy, it means beautiful because that's what you are.

[Kristina coos]

Ned: Yes, you are. You're a beautiful little girl. You sure are.

[Knock on door]

Ned: Hmm. I wonder who that could be. Let's go see who it is.

Faith: Aw, Daddy's little angel.

[Ned sighs]

Faith: Daddy still mad at his other baby girl?

Alexis: Three years ago, a New Jersey woman was diagnosed with D.I.D., was released from court-mandated care after 4 1/2 months. So far the fastest diagnosed cure on record is three months. And since I'm goal-oriented and extremely competitive, I think we can knock that down half. You can go to the court, tell them I'm cured in six weeks. What do you think?

Cameron: While you're at it, why don't you solve world hunger and find the Holy Grail?

Alexis: Cameron, Iím serious.

Cameron: Then you're in bigger trouble than you think.

Jason: Can you see if this is straight?

Courtney: Come here. Here you go. You know, my mom used to have to wear one of these at one of the casinos she worked at. You didn't even wear a tie at your trial.

Jason: Yeah, when I first started to work for Sonny, Benny was always trying to get me to wear a tie. It kind of became this joke between us. He was a -- he was funny. Maybe you should get ready. Unless you don't want to come to the funeral. I mean, you don't have to. I understand.

Courtney: No, hey -- I want to be with you whenever you need me. It's just us showing up together at Bennyís service -- isn't that just asking for another showdown with Sonny?

Alexis: Okay, maybe I need to review the facts with you again. Cameron, Iím not really in need of psychiatric help because I'm not really non compos mentis, remember? I take it that sober stare is a yes. And that worked very well in court, but if you want to transition that into a neutral state, that would be really helpful right now.

Cameron: Last night you were despondent. Today you're a ball of fire. What happened?

Alexis: I'm determined, Cameron.

Cameron: You're in denial, Alexis.

Alexis: I've been researching since dawn, Cameron, and I know how to get my daughter back. I know what I need to do.

Cameron: You know how to convince a judge that you're sane just days after you convinced an entire courtroom that you're certifiably unstable?

Alexis: I'm not talking about days. I'm talking about six long weeks.

Cameron: Alexis, you did a brilliant job of faking madness, but you're about to discover it's going to be a lot more difficult to convince people that you're sane. It's going to be six long months before you can see, touch, or hold Kristina again.

Alexis: I can't do that. It's too long.

Cameron: Alexis, you are dangerous and unstable in the eyes of everyone that knows you except me. It's going to take time -- a lot more time than you want. But you killed a man. That has profound consequences.

Alexis: I killed a psychopath in self-defense.

Cameron: I have no doubt that's true, which makes it all the more disturbing that instead of calling 911 you fabricated this elaborate hoax.

Alexis: You and I both know that had I told the truth, I would have been convicted.

Cameron: The forensic evidence would have backed you up. The testimony of Skye Quartermaine and Brenda Barrett would have supported your self-defense theory. But your control issues are so strong that rather than call 911 you fabricated an alternate personality, because if you had called the police, they would have been in control, not you, and you find that intolerable.

Alexis: You have to save the psychobabble right now, Cameron, because I know the law. Forensics evidence or not, I would have been convicted. All I want is to be able to get my daughter back as quickly as possible.

Cameron: In six weeks, eight weeks max?

Alexis: Research has indicated that that's possible.

Cameron: Alexis, the only way you're going to be able to raise your daughter is if you can accept the fact that you can have no contact with her for six months.

Alexis: I can't accept it because it's unacceptable to me.

Cameron: That's a reality, Alexis. It's a reality that grew out of your actions the night Alcazar was killed and the cover-up that you chose to perpetrate. You need to use this time to comprehend and process what you've done and why. And like it or not --

[Knock on door]

Alexis: Saved. Our 50 minutes is over. Can we talk about this again next week?

Jax: You know, I don't want to interrupt your session, so --

Alexis: You're not, you're not. We're finished.

Jax: You know, I -- I could come back.

Alexis: No, come in. I need to ask you a favor.

Cameron: Nice to see you, Jax.

Alexis: Jax, you are my favorite ex-husband, you're my dearest friend, and I need you now more than I have ever needed you before.

Monica: So, what disaster is he leading the family into this time?

Edward: A.J. misunderstood. When I said I had a project for you, I was referring to a fax that was mis-sent here and needs to be taken to Ned in the gatehouse. Hmm?

Monica: I don't know what this is all about. I do know that he is going to have you jump through fiery hoops for a prize that he's dangling way in the distance that's going to magically be snatched away the minute he gets what he wants.

Edward: Monica, don't you have some heart surgery to perform?

Monica: He is just going to build you up to tear you down. Now, how long is it going to take for you to understand that?

A.J.: Probably as long as it took for me to finally accept the fact that no matter what I do or say you will always choose Jason over me.

Monica: I am trying to warn you, A.J. So whatever happens, you have brought it on yourself.

Edward: If she finds out about this, she'll blow the whistle and all bets are off. Now, it's your job to see to it that she doesn't. And, Alan, I need to discuss some business with A.J., and Iíd prefer to do it without a monitor.

Alan: You try to double-cross me; I'll blow you right out of the water.

A.J.: You obviously want something.

Edward: It's a job that you will thoroughly enjoy.

Jason: If Sonny has a reaction, that's his business. But I don't want us acting like we have something to hide.

Courtney: Jason -- any other day, I would agree. You know, but today you and Sonny -- you're burying a close friend, someone you both trusted, and I think that should be the focus. Us showing up together would only be a distraction, and I think that Benny deserves better.

Jason: Okay. You know, it was Benny who trained me in the business. I mean, I started out as a courier. I remember the first day that I ever worked. Sonny sent me to Bennyís office to pick up something. Benny said he hoped I could follow instructions, and I showed him I could. And he said I just proved that I would go further in business than 90% of the people that he dealt with.

Courtney: Well, Benny is obviously a very perceptive guy.

Jason: I mean, a lot of times he would have to explain things to me because I was fresh out of the hospital. I didn't know anything. I mean, I had to learn everything from scratch. But he never complained. He never treated me like I was dumb. And then, when I got promoted, he didn't have a problem working for me. He actually said Sonny made a smart decision by counting on me.

Courtney: If you want me to go, I can be ready in five minutes.

Jason: No. I got to do this alone. Benny always says -- said, "Donít borrow trouble." And he was right a lot of the time.

Carly: So, what are Bennyís nephews' names again?

Sonny: David and Jacob. David was the oldest.

Carly: Okay. I can't believe that I never met Leah after all these years.

Sonny: Well, Benny kept -- you know, kept his family away from the business. He didn't want it to touch them. You ready?

Carly: Yeah.

Michael: Can I go to Uncle Bennyís party?

Leticia: I'm sorry. He overhead Max on the phone with one of the other men.

Sonny: Come here, buddy. Come here. Have a seat. Okay, listen -- we were planning on telling you, okay, tonight when we were alone and we had more time. What happened was we're not going to a party for Benny. He got sick again. He died.

Michael: So if Uncle Benny was sick, why didn't anybody keep him in bed?

Sonny: Well, because nobody really knew how sick he was. He -- not even Benny.

Carly: Sweetheart, Daddy and I -- we are going to Bennyís funeral. It's not a party, honey. It's actually -- it's very sad. And there aren't going to be any kids there, so Daddy and I decided that we would go and you would stay here.

Michael: Did Uncle Jason die, too?

Carly: No. Why would you ask that?

Michael: Because he usually comes over to see me, and he hasn't come in a long time.

Carly: No, Jasonís just fine, sweetie, I promise.

Michael: Is he mad at me?

Carly: No, he is not at mad at you. He loves you so very, very much. And your daddy and I -- we are going to see him today, so we will make sure that we tell him to come by very soon.

Michael: Okay.

Carly: Okay?

Michael: Okay.

Ned: She's definitely ready for her nap. Started rubbing her eyes.

Woman: Sure.

Ned: I'll be right out here.

Woman: Okay.

Ned: Faith -- I'm going to say this one time. I don't want you ever showing up here again. Our association is over.

Faith: Sonny and everyone that matters to him will be at Bennyís funeral. Now, I could take out the whole lot of them if I were so inclined -- which, frankly, was my first impulse. But I didn't act on it. No, instead, I considered your point of view.

Ned: Really?

Faith: Yeah.

Ned: Doing a life sentence never crossed your mind?

Faith: No, see, it's my alliance with you that has opened my eyes to a whole new approach, which, as you pointed out, will put Sonny through a lot more hell than a quick death.

Ned: People don't change that much.

[Knock on door]

Ned: Don't get too comfortable.

A.J.: Hey, Ned, this came to the -- I had no idea you had company.

Ned: Mrs. Rosco was just leaving.

A.J.: How you doing? A.J. Quartermaine, Nedís cousin.

Faith: Faith.

A.J.: I feel as if I know you from somewhere.

Faith: I don't think so.

Ned: Faith was just leaving. Right, Faith?

A.J.: Wait a minute. You know what? It was at Jasonís trial. I saw your picture in the paper for the shooting at Sonny's club.

Ned: Drop it, Junior. Okay, Faith, this is over. Let's go. Please don't ever try to see me again, all right?

Faith: You can only deny yourself so long. Nice meeting you.

A.J.: The pleasure was all mine. Well. Okay. Certified madwoman and now a lady mobster? Ned, you sure can pick them.

Alexis: I need a favor that only you can provide, Jax.

Jax: I'll do what I can.

Alexis: Okay. Sit down. You and I both know that the court order was absolutely ridiculous. You know that I would never do anything to hurt Kristina. I can't be separated from my daughter for six months. It -- it -- it wouldn't be good for her, either, because she's going to forget who I am.

Jax: If you're suggesting that you want to do something --

Alexis: Just hear me out. Just hear me out for a second. You and Ned could get together on a joint business venture that would require you to meet once or twice a week. It wouldn't be ridiculous to bring the baby to your house where you'd hold the meetings because he's the doting dad; you're the doting uncle. And that way I could have access through the back entrance. Would you do that for me, please?

Alan: Father?

Monica: He's already gone. And so is A.J. lamb to the slaughter, all ready for Edward to use and then throw away again. How kind of you to arrange it. My, that is five-star parenting in action.

Alan: What is it you want, Monica?

Monica: I want you to explain to A.J. that Edward is out for Edward and Edward only.

Alan: Don't you think that A.J. knows that by now? We're Quartermaines, Monica. We use each other. We always have, we always will. And if you're lucky, you get what you want.

Monica: You really sound like Edward. What has he talked you into doing this time?

Sonny: Leah. Hi. How are you?

Leah: Thank you for being here, Mr. Corinthos.

Sonny: Benny was a good man, good friend. Is there anything you need?

Leah: No. You've done so much already.

Sonny: I didn't -- I didn't do anything for Benny. He did it all, you know, with hard work and his loyalty.

Leah: He admired you so much. You were more than a boss to him. He cared for you deeply. He considered you a dear friend.

Rabbi: I'm Rabbi Solomon. We're gathered here to honor the memory of Leahís beloved husband and our dear friend, Benjamin Eugene Abrams.

Jax: The judge was extremely clear with her decision.

Alexis: I know what the judge said. But the judge doesn't know me. You do. And you know that I would never hurt my daughter.

Jax: I think that you need a little time to yourself --

Alexis: What I need is to be able to spend time with my baby girl. I've barely seen her last month. I need to be able to visit her. I need to hold her and feed her.

Jax: I know what you want, Alexis. And, yes, I know that you can be trusted. But you have an alternate personality who no one should trust at the moment, including yourself. When Kristina emerges, you have absolutely no control, and you can't --

Alexis: You and Ned can be in the room at all times.

Jax: Alexis, you were just declared mentally unstable. Look, I'm telling you this as your friend, okay -- that the thing that you would want me to do first and foremost is protect your little girl.

Alexis: You know that I wouldn't hurt her, Jax.

Jax: I know that. I know that you wouldn't do that knowingly. But you've been under a lot of stress with this trial, representing Jason and Brenda and Skye. Everyone's nerves are a little frayed at the moment, so I don't think that we should be making decisions like this right now.

Alexis: I would feel a lot better if I knew that I had access to my daughter.

Jax: Have you discussed this with Dr. Lewis --

Alexis: All right, you know what? I'm being unfair. I'm going to ask Ned.

A.J.: You live a pretty complicated life, Ned.

Ned: When's the settlement date on this?

A.J.: 10 days post close.

Ned: Oh.

A.J.: So, how serious are things between you and Bonnie Parker?

Ned: When is the R&D report coming in?

A.J.: End of the week.

Ned: Hmm.

A.J.: Let's see -- E.L.Q., single parent, and now you're dating a murder suspect?

Ned: I'm not dating Faith! And why are you suddenly so fascinated with my personal life? What, are you bored because you have no wife to stalk?

A.J.: Ned, it's okay to admit you're overwhelmed. You haven't been to the office in weeks, days, whatever. People are wondering what's going on. Things are slipping through the cracks. Hey, I can only cover for you for so long, buddy --

Ned: You're not covering for me, Junior. You're suffering from delusions of grandeur. Now, get out. Just back off, now.

A.J.: Ned, Ned, come on. I'm just concerned for you, that's all.

Ned: Yeah, I see it all over your face.

A.J.: Hmm.

Faith: I was making headway with Ned, and A.J. came barging in.

Edward: What did A.J. want?

Faith: I don't know. He said something about E.L.Q. business.

Edward: Oh, God. That is so like A.J., always in the wrong place at the wrong time. Now, listen, you keep working on Ned, all right? We'll stay in touch.

[Edward chuckles]

A.J.: Hey. Mission accomplished.

Edward: Good.

A.J.: And you were right -- I haven't had that much fun in a long time. You know how people are born with gifts, jobs we were meant to do?

Edward: Mm-hmm.

A.J.: Mine? Needling Ned.

Edward: Hmm. What about the other part of the assignment?

A.J.: Piece of cake. You know who was at the gatehouse when I got there?

Edward: Huh?

A.J.: Faith Rosco.

Edward: Oh.

A.J.: Uh-huh. Her late husband, one of Sonny's enemies. In fact, the police believe that she was behind the hit on Sonny.

Edward: Another grandson in bed with the mob.

Jason: You just -- you just call me, okay, if you need anything at all.

Leah: You know, Benjamin was very fond of you, Jason. He said that you had more integrity than anyone else he'd ever met.

Man: Aunt Leah?

Leah: Yes.

Sammy: My condolences, Mr. Corinthos. Benny was a fine man. I'm sure you'll miss him.

Sonny: Thanks for coming.

Leah: Jason, please, come by the house.

Jason: I will.

Leah: I'd like that.

Ric: Mrs. Abrams, I'm Ric Lansing. I -- I work with Sonny very closely. I really admired your husband, and I'm so sorry for your loss.

Leah: Oh. Thank you.

Leah: Shiva will last for the next seven days. I want you to come.

Sonny: Yeah, yeah, we'll be over. I know Benny left you his estate with everything worked out, so you don't have to worry about anything, but what I want to do is I want to add to his investments, okay, so you don't have to worry about it.

Leah: Oh, thank you. But you know that Jason has already provided me with all Iíll ever need, including he handled the paperwork. But thank you.

Greg: Jason, Sonny asked me to take over the business for Benny.

Jason: That's good. That's good. Sonny needs somebody he can trust.

Greg: Benny trained me in every aspect of the business. But he always said there were certain aspects that I was only to discuss with you and never to mention it to Mr. Corinthos. He didn't say what.

Jason: Just -- just call me later. I'll tell you about that.

Elizabeth: Nice of you to show up.

Courtney: I'm right on time, Elizabeth. I'm only scheduled for the lunch shift.

Elizabeth: Did you go to the funeral?

Courtney: No, I didn't go.

Elizabeth: Why not? Someone ask you to stay away? Or are funerals too depressing, considering Jasonís line of work?

Courtney: Well, I'm glad you can appreciate how difficult my life has become -- living with Jason, who I love and loves me back. Watching him sleep in the middle of the night, kissing him when he wakes up in the morning, knowing that he'll always be honest with me -- man, that's a lot to handle, but I'm sure Iíll manage.

Elizabeth: And how hard did you have to beg Jason to take you back? Doesn't say very much for your self-esteem, now, does it?

Courtney: Yeah, well, I am secure enough to let myself be be happy.

Elizabeth: Which is exactly why you ran straight into Jasonís arms without even bothering to get a divorce first.

Courtney: Yeah, I don't care too much for legal technicalities, Elizabeth, and neither does Jason. They're obviously really important to you, though -- rules, regulations. What to do, who to impress, how to make yourself look good -- that's something that you and Ric have in common. Tell me something -- do you guys sit around and compliment each other on your moral superiority?

Elizabeth: You know, Ric is a respected attorney, not a hit man. And believe me, we have plenty of other ways to spend our time.

Carly: Are you disappointed?

Ric: Why would I be?

Carly: Because Jason and Sonny aren't ripping each other's throats out.

Ric: Why do you continue to see me in such a negative light?

Carly: Because you're a lying pig.

Sonny: Leah says you've taken care of everything financially. I want to cover at least half.

Jason: Okay.

Sonny: She says you've handled the paperwork. You can use Greg if you need him, you know.

Jason: Benny cared a lot about you.

Sonny: Well, yeah. He cared a lot about both of us. He wouldn't want it this way.

Jason: Doesn't have to be this way.

Sonny: When Michael heard that -- what happened to Benny, he thought that something had happened to you because you -- you haven't been around and he misses you.

Jason: Tell him I miss him.

Sonny: Carly says you're going to stop by.

Jason: Yeah, I'll stop by tomorrow after Michael gets out of school.

Sonny: That'd be good.

Jason: Good.

Sonny: I don't have to be there.

Jason: That's fine.

Ric: Sonny --

Sonny: Isn't there somewhere you have to be?

Sonny: Marco's going to take you home, and I'll be there in a little bit.

Carly: You know, the last thing Benny would want is for you to blame yourself. You heard the rabbi. He said that God knows how many days we have before you're born. It was his time. I'll see you later.

Sonny: All right.

Alexis: Just hear me out --

Ned: You're not supposed to be here.

Alexis: Just hear me out, all right? I can't go this many months without seeing her.

Ned: You're defying a court order.

Alexis: Just let me hold her, just for a minute.

Ned: Look, not until you're well.

Alexis: You know that I would never do anything to hurt her.

Ned: Alexis, you're hurting her right now, being here. You're risking your future together by breaking the law.

Alexis: Please don't do this to me.

Ned: Alexis, if I defy this court order, Baldwin will take Kristina away from me just to spite you.

Alexis: Just have a little bit of compassion.

Ned: I'm sorry, I can't.

[Kristina cries]

Ned: You have to leave. Really, you have to leave.

Alexis: Kristina!

Ned: Alexis --

Alexis: Let me just comfort her for a minute! She needs me!

Ned: Don't -- the nanny will hear you.

Alexis: Ned --

Ned: The nanny will hear you, and then she'll report you to the court. You can't do this! Please do not come back again!

Ric: Hey.

Elizabeth: Hey.

Ric: You got a minute?

Elizabeth: Yeah, of course. Come on. Hey. How was the funeral?

Ric: Oh, sad, you know, very small. The other families sent representatives. You should have seen them all, just lurking around like a pack of vultures, gauging Sonny's vulnerability. What they're probably going to report back to their bosses is that Sonny and Jason are still on the outs. However, they did see a sharp, Harvard-educated lawyer standing by Sonny's side.

Elizabeth: Hmm. How'd Sonny treat you?

Ric: How does Sonny usually treat me? He was just being cautious. But I think he really appreciated my being there.

Elizabeth: Well, congratulations.

Ric: Excuse me.

Elizabeth: Mm-hmm.

Ric: Jason -- I didn't get a chance to tell you at the funeral -- I'm very sorry about Benny. I know you two were close. You know, it's good that you and Sonny could put your differences aside at the funeral. But for what it's worth, I think it's very admirable, what you're doing in the name of love. So much for those people that say you don't have a heart, huh? How wrong they are. You're following it. I really admire it.

Jason: Your act isn't any more convincing than it was when you first hit town. You were lying then. You're lying now. I don't know what you want from Sonny, but you want it bad. You understand me -- if you hurt Sonny, Carly, Michael, or Courtney, no one will ever see you again.

Courtney: Hey -- it's not busy. I can go early.

Courtney: Are you okay? Something happened with Ric. I mean, your eyes just suddenly got all cold. It was like it wasn't even you standing there.

Jason: I'm sorry that I scared you.

Courtney: You didn't scare me. I love you. I just hate to see how much this is hurting you.

Sonny: How you doing, Benny? How long did you work for me? I don't remember. How long ago did you come to me and you pointed out that criminals get caught because they don't know how to hide the money. They don't know how to keep the books straight. And you offered to make sure that never happened to me. You didn't break your promise, Benny. You kept the books, you kept my secrets, and you never broke faith in me, even though I broke faith with you.

Sonny: I got to tell you something. I dreamed about this day, you lying here dead. Then it was Jason. Tell me something -- do dreams have meaning? I mean, you're in a position to know now, right, Benny? Did you send this dream to me to warn me not to kill my best friend the way I killed you?

On the next "General Hospital" Ė

Lucky: Something about you sticks with me.

Nikolas: Lucky's girlfriend's a hooker.

Elizabeth: I don't know what you think I can do about it.

Luke: A restraining order keeping me from Laura.

Sonny: I called another meeting of the five families.

Ric: Play this my way, and you'll get what you want.

Carly: I'm not going to let you take advantage of Sonny the way you took advantage of me.
