>> Previously on "General Hospital" --

Ric: You and I only slept together one time. There's no possible way this baby could be mine.

Lucky: I don't need my father hiring hookers for me.

Bree: You didn't just work for me. Like all my girls, you're family.

Carly: Jason loves you. Don't give up on him.

Jason: I love her. I want to be with her, and she wants to be with me.

Sonny: Then I guess you have to make a choice.

Faith: It happens at The Cellar tonight.

Sonny: You're my closest friend, my right arm, my brother. I trust you more than anyone. You've never disappointed me until now.

Jason: This isn't about you, Sonny.

Sonny: I asked you to protect my sister by staying away from her.

Jason: It's not going to work.

Sonny: It's difficult, it's cruel, but it's necessary. If I can't depend on you to do what's necessary, then Iím -- I'm going to have to redefine the terms.

Jason: What does that mean?

Sonny: If you can't, if you won't stay away from my sister, you can't do your work. You're useless to me. So you're going to have to choose -- my sister or your job.

Courtney: You make me sick. A.J., do you actually think that I would go to bed with you to try and get Jason back? How does that even make sense?

A.J.: Think about it. You sleep with me, he finds out, he comes to the rescue. Or not. Either way, you know where you stand.

Courtney: I would rather lie down in a gutter in the sleet and slush with garbage trucks going by than to be with you.

A.J.: You loved it until golden boy showed up.

Courtney: Ok, maybe I won't get Jason back. Maybe Sonny will always control him. Maybe I don't have a prayer, but you know what?

A.J.: I could have told you that from the start.

Courtney: No matter what, I will always be thankful for the time that I had with Jason, because after your lies, Jason showed me what love really means.

Lucky: You want to feel like a Good Samaritan? Well, leave me out of it -- and just stop wasting my time and your money giving me a mercy date with a hooker.

Luke: Mercy date?

Lucky: You want to make a sacrifice? Donate blood. Sign over your kidney. Give them your liver if they'll take it, but don't send Summer over to my door. Don't bribe her to tell me what you think I want to hear.

Luke: Who do you think you're talking to?

Bree: Thank you.

Summer: Thank you. Yeah, I got to admit, getting out of the life has not been so easy. I did freelance a little.

Bree: That's understandable.

Summer: But if I was still professionally in the business, you'd be my rep.

Bree: I appreciate that. I hope you made yourself a good freelance deal.

Summer: Well, it was this one guy who -- he just missed his wife a lot. She's institutionalized in London. And he didn't even want to have sex with me. Can you believe that?

Bree: No, as a matter of fact.

Summer: It's true. He encouraged me to quit hooking. I enrolled in college.

Bree: Did you apply for any scholarships? You know, you were one of the brightest young women that I ever represented.

Summer: Well, thank you, but I don't quite think Iím scholarship material.

Bree: If we were still working together, you'd have plenty of cash on hand.

Summer: Bree, I really am trying to rebuild a new life.

Bree: Is it making you happy?

Summer: No.

Jax: To bloodless coups.

Ned: To radical, nonviolent change.

Jax: Change that will make us richer than we already are.

Ned: Hmm. Which is saying something.

Sam: All the details have been taken care of.

Faith: Good. Before this night is over, I want Sonny Corinthos blown away.

Carly: Sonny and I have been trying to get pregnant for a very long time. There is no way that this baby is yours.

Ric: Well, then that's a huge relief for both of us, isn't it?

Carly: I conceived with Sonny while I was at the cabin.

Ric: I'm just glad you can be so accurate.

Carly: Yeah, I can, because the timing was perfect. It's Sonny's baby. There's no question about it.

Ric: Well, you'll never have to worry about the fact that we had unprotected sex.

Carly: Excuse me?

Luke: You really think I spend any time at all worrying about how to make you happy?

Lucky: Well, Summer admitted that you sent her.

Luke: Did she say that? Those exact words?

Lucky: No, but I'm just --

Luke: I don't care about your sex life, Lucky. I'm a terrible, lousy father, remember? I don't put my kids first. I don't even put them in the top 10. My job was done the day I taught you to fend for yourself, and that certainly includes getting your own dates.

Lucky: Summer came on to me to please you.

Luke: Oh, you are selling yourself so short. She's not a hooker anymore. Cowboy, if she came to you, she came to you because she wanted to.

Lucky: You are so naive.

Luke: Well, there's a phrase I don't hear every day. Don't be stupid. She came after you because she wanted to. It's as simple as that.

Summer: Getting out of the life sounded easy.

Bree: When this guy described it.

Summer: Well, yeah.

Bree: So you let this man rescue you, and then when you're in his world, really available, he walks away.

Summer: How did you know?

Bree: I have seen it over and over. He's searching for some princess, right? Sick wife?

Summer: Yes.

Bree: Only she's way out of his reach, which only means he wants her more.

Summer: Exactly.

Bree: It's a standard male hang-up -- save the hooker, seek the princess. Only they're never the same.

Summer: I can't believe I fell for it, Bree.

Bree: If you're ready to come back to what you're really good at --

Summer: Bree, I've gone too far to turn back. Excuse me, Iíd like this to go, please. Thank you.

Carly: You expect me to believe that we had unprotected sex?

Ric: I'm not saying that it was my finest hour, but, you know, we did get a little reckless that night.

Carly: You're lying.

Ric: Look, Carly, obviously we didn't intend to be in bed together, but things happen.

Carly: Maybe, but not this.

Ric: All right. I -- I tried to get out to go get something at the drugstore, but you wouldn't let me go. You kept saying, "don't stop it."

Carly: Oh, you lying pig!

Ric: All right, you know what? Maybe eventually you'll remember.

Carly: Oh, so it's not enough that you take advantage of me while I am drunk and Iím crazy with grief?

Ric: Shh -- look -- shh --

Carly: You don't have the decency to wear a condom?

Ric: I'm not proud of myself here, ok? But I -- I thought that you were on the pill, you know? I didn't think I had to worry about anything else because you were so willing. I was surprised to find out that you were pregnant, though.

Carly: Oh. You want to play games? Is that it? You think I don't know how to play these games? You need to talk to A.J. Quartermaine, and you ask him about the time he woke up in a dumpster.

Ric: I'm not trying to play games.

Carly: So you want to talk about the night that we had sex and I was too drunk to remember? Well, maybe I do. Who knows? Maybe you were so bad that it was forgettable.

Ric: Whatever helps get you through it.

Carly: This baby is Sonny's. And if you even suggest to anyone that it might be yours, you are not going to have to worry about Sonny because I will kill you myself.

[knock on door]

Courtney: What?

Elizabeth: Hmm. Dinner?

Courtney: What do you want?

Elizabeth: I brought by your paycheck. Bobbie is trying to balance the checkbooks, and she needs this deposited first thing in the morning.

Courtney: Right. You mean you're here to see Jason.

Elizabeth: This is really sad.

Jason: I understand that nothing means more to you than loyalty, and I have been loyal to you, and that's why I came here -- to tell you face to face.

Sonny: I'm going to ask you again to stay away from Courtney. If I give you my reasons, will you let this go? Will you concentrate on what's happening now? The shooter we know is in town. Security. Can you get Courtney out of your head?

Jason: I love Courtney, Sonny. I can't just turn that off. And I'm sorry that she's your sister, but I can't change that. I can't choose who I fall in love with!

Sonny: Then you're spitting in my face!

Jason: I will always honor my commitment to you, Sonny!

Sonny: It's not an honor to drag my sister into a world that's illegal and dangerous!

Jason: What have you done?

Sonny: Oh. You saw what happened to Lily. You sat with me. You saved my life. Who saved Lily's life? Her only crime was to love me. I will not let that happen to my sister.

Jason: I've kept you safe for a long time. I can protect Courtney.

Sonny: Death always comes back and grabs the people we love, Jason.

Jason: She understands the risk.

Sonny: You keep telling yourself that, but you know it's a lie! And Courtneyís going to pay. She thinks it's, like, an honor to die. But I will not let my sister die. So you've made your choice?

Jason: Yes, I have.

Sonny: Then you're fired.

Luke: Look, Summer and I -- we had some laughs, we had a couple of twirls around the dance floor, she helped me through a really rough patch. And not that I owe you any explanations, but it's over.

Lucky: But Summer thinks you want her to be with me.

Luke: I never said that.

Lucky: Summer knows how to read a john.

Luke: I'm more than a john. I'm her friend. Lucky, there's only one woman in the world for me, and that's your mother. You know that. And Summer knows it. So if you want to be with her, go, be happy. If you don't want to be with her, walk away from her, but leave me out of it. The only woman I love is in a hospital 3,000 miles away.

Lucky: I'm sorry.

Luke: No. It's all right. At least we didn't get in a fistfight. That's a breakthrough. Look, I got to make some phone calls.

Lucky: Yeah, sure. Later.

Luke: Yeah.

Luke: Yes. This is Luke Spencer calling from New York. I want to speak to Dr. Fitzsimmons. Hello, doctor. Luke Spencer here again. Yes, I want my wife moved to that room with the garden view as soon as possible. I'm going to be visiting. I'll probably leave here in a couple of days, and Iíd like it if she were in that room when I get there. Yes. Well, that's not a problem. Nikolas Cassadine is no longer the legal guardian. He has signed over -- yeah, he signed that over to me. Yeah, well, it -- it's in the post.

Elizabeth: You think Iím looking for Jason? Why would I show up here? He left you, remember? Everyone knows it, but you just can't seem to catch on.

Courtney: Oh, so what? What, you think you stand a chance with him now, Elizabeth? Is that why you're here, to make sure Jasonís gone?

Elizabeth: I was trying to do you a favor.

Courtney: What was the plan? You make sure he isn't here and then you just make your move?

Elizabeth: Look, you got your heart broken, but don't blame me. I guess what goes around comes around.

Courtney: Oh, oh, yeah, that's right. Evil Courtney, who stole Jason away from your wonderful self. Never mind that you were the one that walked out on him. And why? Why? Because he dared to keep a secret, or because he cared enough to help me out and you just didn't approve?

Elizabeth: But you used this whole stalking thing to get closer to Jason, ok? A.J. actually did you a favor. You know, for someone being so devoted to her husband, you couldn't get rid of him quick enough. But now you're all alone, and you have no one to blame but yourself.

Courtney: If you're so convinced that Jason and I are finished, why don't you go over to his apartment for, like, the nine millionth time? Why don't you dream up some lame excuse and just expect him to change his whole life around for the privilege of being with you? How long do you think it'll take him to brush you off, Elizabeth? I'd say, like, three nanoseconds. Wait, you know what? He probably won't even notice that you're there.

Elizabeth: Oh, he'd notice, he'd notice.

Courtney: Elizabeth, this whole love affair that you think you had with Jason -- it barely even happened. It was all in your head.

Elizabeth: Why are you so upset, Courtney? Jason left you for the same reason he left me. He decided to devote his life to working for Sonny. That should come as no surprise. You're nothing special to Jason, and I guess you never have been.

Courtney: You have no idea what Jason feels. You never did and you never will. Just get out! Go!

A.J.: Max, wait -- I'm not packing. Hey, Carly, get this big ape off me.

Max: He's clean.

A.J.: You searching everyone or just me?

Carly: You're not welcome here, A.J.

A.J.: You invited the Quartermaines.

Carly: Everyone but you.

A.J.: Oh, gee. Guess I misunderstood.

Carly: Well, you can leave without any hassle, or you can show up at the E.R. without any kneecaps. Either way, it works for me.

A.J.: You should be nicer to me.

Carly: Max?

A.J.: Sooner or later, you're going to need a friend.

Carly: I will never need you, A.J.

A.J.: Maybe. I mean, things are going well for you, Carly. But you will crash and burn. You'll find a way to self-destruct.

Carly: No, not this time.

A.J.: Doesn't Sonny realize you destroy everything you touch, especially the things you love and you need the most --

Carly: Get him out of here, now. Good-bye, A.J. Yeah, you are.

A.J.: I'll see you.

Carly: What -- excuse me. That's a great dress you've got on. Yeah, you.

Sam: Thank you.

Carly: I've seen you here before, right?

Sam: Yes, a time or two.

Carly: Great. Did you know Catherine?

Sam: A friend of the family's.

Carly: Oh. I'm sorry for the inconvenience, but everyone's being checked tonight.

Sam: Oh, why? Is there a problem?

Carly: It's part of the theme, actually. You know, a speakeasy, after-hours. It goes back to the days when this place was deadly.

Sonny: You want to be with my sister? You have to get out of the organization.

Jason: Who's going to watch your back? Max? Marco? That's not going to work.

Sonny: It's not your concern.

Jason: The hell it isn't my concern. Sonny, the shooter's probably after you. What's your plan? Who's going to keep you safe?

Sonny: I managed when you left town before. I'll manage again.

Jason: Well, what about Carly and Michael, Sonny? Think. You want to fire me, that's your choice, but now is not the time.

Sonny: You want to work for me and leave my sister alone?

Jason: I can protect both you and Courtney.

Sonny: No, you canít.

Jason: All right, you know what? I'm not going to leave you with no protection.

Sonny: I can protect myself and my family.

Jason: Look, let's just get through this party and then we'll get --

Sonny: I don't want you around anymore! Get out!

Jason: You know it doesn't have to be this way.

Sonny: You made your choice.

Jason: No, you made the choice.

Sonny: No, no. My word's not final anymore.

Jason: No, you're going to need my protection right now.

Sonny: No, I'm not!

Edward: If Iíd known I was going to be manhandled by a couple of hooligans, I wouldn't have come.

Ned: Hi, Grandfather.

Edward: Oh. Hey. Hey, why aren't you at home with that precious baby, huh?

Ned: She's being very well cared for.

Edward: Oh, yes. All alone with the nanny while you're out on the town with a gangster's moll.

Faith: Lovely to see you, too, Mr. Quartermaine.

Carly: What are you doing here?

Faith: Well, this party is in honor of my grandmother. You can't keep me away.

Carly: Watch me. Max?

Ned: Carly, is that really what you want? I mean, you really want your customers to see you throw out Catherineís granddaughter for a party that's being held in Catherineís honor? You know, from a P.R. standpoint, that's probably not a great idea.

Carly: Behave yourself, Faith.

Faith: You're wearing my grandmother's necklace.

Carly: Yeah, Catherine gave it to me the night that she told me about this place, because she said I reminded her of herself.

Faith: In a way her granddaughter never did.

Carly: Actually, she never mentioned you at all.

Jax: Oh, well, Mrs. Corinthos, congratulations on your club. Not quite as flashy as 101, but it has its own little charm about it.

Carly: We've been open for weeks, Jax. Why did you decide to come tonight?

Jax: Why? Is there something special about tonight?

Carly: It's a memorial for a woman you didn't know.

Jax: Oh. Well, call me uninformed, but it looks like a party to me.

Carly: Jax, what do you want?

Jax: I'm here to celebrate.

Carly: Oh, celebrate what?

Jax: Bachelorhood.

Ric: My, my, my.

Elizabeth: What? This little thing?

Ric: You look wonderful.

Elizabeth: Well, thank you.

Carly: Excuse me. I don't remember inviting you. No, I'm sure that I didn't.

Elizabeth: Hello, Carly.

Carly: This is a private party. Get out.

Ric: I think you're being a little extreme here.

Carly: Are you in charge of the guest list now?

Elizabeth: You know, I do work upstairs, so I just assumed --

Carly: You know what? You assume a lot of things, don't you? Last time, you assumed that Jason and Courtney eloped.

Elizabeth: Oh, not this again.

Carly: You upset my husband, you ruined our little getaway, and you treat Courtney like trash.

Elizabeth: Well, just because you've finally found a friend doesn't mean everyone has to like her.

Carly: Jason is my best friend, and mercifully he's away from you, but I'm not quite sure what you've heard, but if you're here to get him back, you can just forget it.

Elizabeth: I'm not.

Carly: Good. Then you won't mind leaving.

Elizabeth: You can jump in any time.

Carly: Oh, he won't do that. You see the men over there, the ones who searched you, probably gave you a cheap thrill? They're my bouncers, and if you're not out of here in 60 seconds, they will throw you out.

Elizabeth: Hmm. Thanks for the save.

Ric: She's the boss, all right? You know, when she gets territorial. There's nothing I can do.

Elizabeth: You won't stand up to Carly because you're still hoping she'll put in a good word for you with Sonny.

Ric: No, please. It is not that simple.

Elizabeth: I don't want to hear it.

Sonny: We need more security up here now.

Benny: Yeah, they're coming here in, like, a minute. I don't know where Jason is. He should be here.

Sonny: I fired Jason tonight.

Benny: He's not going to be here?

Sonny: That's right, Benny.

Benny: Sir, we need Jason here tonight. He's irreplaceable.

Sonny: That's not the way I see it.

Benny: Well, look, you're in a lot of danger right now. Now, replacing somebody in midstream --

Sonny: Are you telling me how to run my business?

Benny: You're very vulnerable right now.

Sonny: I fired Jason because he defied an order.

Benny: Mm-hmm.

Sonny: All right? He is out. Now, you deal with that or you quit. Is that what you want?

Benny: I can deal with it, Sir. I'm only talking about timing right now.

Sonny: Are you questioning my judgment, Benny?

Benny: No, I'm not. I'm saying it's very impor--

Sonny: You keep your voice down! I will fire you like I did Jason. Is that what you want?

Scott: Hi. Can I buy you another drink after that one?

Sam: The drinks are free tonight.

Scott: Oh, that's even better. I can buy you a bunch of drinks. I'm Scott Baldwin, district attorney. What's your name?

[knock on door]

Jason: You're leaving?

Courtney: Yeah.

Jason: Can you wait for a minute? When I walked out on you, I know that I hurt you. I mean, I could feel it every time that we saw each other. Even when we didn't, I knew that I was hurting you, and I kept on doing it. And I could say that Iím sorry, but that doesn't take the hurt away and I could explain why, but you already know all the reasons.

Courtney: Ok.

Jason: I've tried to stop loving you. I mean, I told myself that the hurt will go away. You know, maybe it will. But the love won't. Not now, not ever. I want you back. And I understand if you say forget it, because I hurt you too much Ė

Lucky: That's a nice dress.

Elizabeth: Thanks, Lucky.

Lucky: Who made you mad?

Elizabeth: How could you tell?

Lucky: I just can.

Elizabeth: You always could.

Lucky: Well, whoever it is, you're right, they're wrong.

Elizabeth: Back when we were together, how come nobody ever mentioned that that could have been the best time of our lives?

Lucky: You mean how nothing else could even come close?

Elizabeth: I'm not looking to go back. I just -- I'm realizing you set a standard I don't think anyone else could ever meet.

Lucky: Well, if it makes you feel any better, you did the same thing for me. They just should have shared with us the best things can't last.

Elizabeth: I think they did. But who ever listens?

[music plays]

Ric: Listen, I couldn't help but overhear about Jason. I'm sorry. If there's anything that I can do to help in his absence --

Sonny: You eavesdrop at parties, you take telephone messages that don't concern you. You wouldn't last 10 minutes on the docks. You wouldn't put your life on the line for anybody. And even if you did, who would notice one less lawyer with a fancy degree?

Ric: Ok, a simple no would suffice.

Sonny: Ok, I'm not done. You were not honest with me about your connection with Alcazar. Why would you be? You stole from him, you let him put you in prison, and you didn't even try to escape. I'd be embarrassed, too. And you think you're qualified to fill in for Jason?

Ric: It was merely a suggestion, Sonny.

Sonny: You are not loyal to anybody but yourself. No, you can't fill in for Jason. You're not even in the same league. You don't even come close, Ric.

Ned: Why do you keep watching Sonny?

Faith: Old habits and all that.

Ned: Yeah, I know you'd prefer a direct attack.

Faith: Save a lot of people a lot of trouble.

Ned: Well, but violence is messy, and it only leads to more violence. I mean, why send Sonny out in a blaze of gunfire when you can watch him struggle to make ends meet?

Faith: I'm not sure it's quite the same thing.

Ned: Faith, we can bring Sonny down without gunfire.

Faith: Whatever you say.

Edward: If you're planning to make a drunken spectacle of yourself, leave now.

Skye: Grandfather, what are you doing here?

Edward: What are you doing here?

Skye: Well, this is the place to be, haven't you heard? So I ask you again, what are you doing here?

Edward: Hmm.

Sonny: Jax. Why don't you leave?

Jax: You seem a little agitated, Corinthos. You better be careful. People notice. They'll think you're losing your edge.

Sonny: You want to walk out or be carried out?

Jax: A few words of wisdom. You ready?

Sonny: Yeah.

Jax: Listen up. A wise man chooses his battle.

Skye: Jax. You're leaving so soon?

Jax: Yeah, I'm afraid so.

Skye: Well, have you even had dinner yet?

Jax: No. The Asian markets are running hot, so I got to go. Enjoy the party.

Skye: Oh, yeah. Don't work too hard.

Scott: That was a nice try, but, you know, no cigar.

Skye: Oh, that's original.

Scott: Is he really worth all this pain?

Skye: As opposed to what? You? Oh, definitely.

Scott: That's not what I meant.

Sonny: You know, it's getting late. You need some rest.

Carly: I am fine, Sonny.

Sonny: Well, whatever you have to say to these people, can you go ahead and do that because --

Carly: Hmm -- well, Jasonís not here yet.

Sonny: Well, you shouldn't wait for Jason.

Carly: Why not?

Sonny: I'll explain it -- I'll explain it to you later.

Carly: Is Jason hurt?

Sonny: No, no, nothing like that.

Carly: Something's wrong. I've got a bad feeling.

Sonny: You're exhausted. You've been working too much. Everything's under control.

Carly: All right, then why won't you tell me about Jason? What's going on?

Sonny: Why don't you go tell these people what you need to tell them, and then Iím -- I'm taking you home, ok?

[music stops]

Carly: Excuse me. Excuse me, everyone. May I have your attention? Everyone, excuse me. Thank you. I just want to thank all of you for being here. I appreciate that you're all here to honor Catherine Flynn. I know that a lot of you did not know her. Some of you did. She is the woman who is responsible for first bringing this place to life. This place was Catherineís dream. It was simple, a beautiful room where people could be together to celebrate and enjoy life. Catherine never got to see her dream come true. It was taken away from her suddenly and at a terrible price. I didn't get the chance to know Catherine very well, but what I did know was that she really loved her family. She could tell a great story, and she really appreciated a good party, so, Catherine, enjoy the party.

[applause]

[music plays]

Sonny: What was that for?

Carly: For saying yes.

Sonny: To going home?

Carly: To one dance before we leave.

Sonny: Hmm.

Summer: You knew Iíd be back, huh?

Bree: We're all entitled to a change of heart.

Summer: I guess it's just time to face reality.

Bree: In that case, I have the perfect client.

Nikolas: I realize the markets are down, but I still need to see a better performance from all the European holdings.

Man: Would you consider a meeting?

Nikolas: Actually, I'd like a straight answer.

Luke: Oh, I'm glad to see you're here working on that power of attorney.

Nikolas: Believe it or not, we were in the middle of something else, Luke.

Luke: Well, not anymore.

Nikolas: Ok. I -- I have decided to keep my power of attorney. I need to be the one making the choices regarding my mother.

Luke: She's my wife.

Nikolas: Not according to law, Luke. We have been over this. Listen, I am more than willing --

Luke: She needs me.

Nikolas: You're the reason she went insane.

Summer: Hello. I'm summer.

Jax: It's a pleasure.

Max: Gun!

>> On the next "General Hospital" --

Nikolas: I'm trying to help my mother.

Luke: Give me the power of attorney.

Summer: How about if we get business out of the way first?

Jax: Bree said 1,000?

Summer: In cash.

Faith: Let go of me now.

Ned: Where did you get the money?

Faith: Let go of me.

Courtney: Why'd you come back?

Jason: Because I love you.
