General Hospital Transcript Thursday 2/6/03

Ned: You're proving yourself every day.
Ned: Acting on an anonymous tip, the police will find the drugs.
Mac: We got a tip that Sonny's storing drugs here.
Sonny: Jason has full authority to handle these things.
Elizabeth: Jason left town again, with Courtney. And it looked to me like they were eloping.
Courtney: Jason, watch out!
Lucky: What, are you here to see me?
Summer: I wanted to apologize for my abrupt departure the other day.
Lucky: Oh, you're talking about when we kissed, and you definitely responded, and then the next second, you were in a hurry to get out of here. What -- what was that all about, hmm?
Luke: Oh. Progressive filing.
Bobbie: Hey. I'm just checking in to make sure I still have a brother.
Luke: You do. Barely.
Sonny: Has there been any word on Jason and Courtney?
Carly: Elizabeth Webber is a jealous little brat who got her feelings hurt because she pushed Jason away one too many times, and he finally left her. The fact that she thinks they went off to elope is just -- it's delusional. Sonny, Jason could have been taking her anywhere. He could have been taking her to the airport to go visit her mother.
Sonny: Then how come he's not answering his cell phone? Huh? Why -- how come he didn't come home last night? And where is he now?
Carly: Maybe he got stuck in the snow. Maybe he is on a road that's closed, he's got no cell phone --
Sonny: Stop it, Carly. Hey! I don't care if he's stuck in the snow or on an island somewhere. We both know he's with my sister. They've been going behind my back. And you've known all along, haven't you?
Courtney: Are you all right?
Sonny: How long have you known about Jason and Courtney? Have you been helping things along? Going behind my back?
Carly: You know, you can --
Sonny: All those suggestions you made -- all those suggestions you made. "It's not such a bad thing, Courtney and Jason together." What were you trying to do, soften me up? Get me to change my mind? Did I not make it clear to you how I felt? Now, don't even -- don't even say that you thought I was kidding because you know I didn't want Jason and Courtney together. And what do you do? Keep another secret from me.
Carly: Okay, is it my turn now?
Sonny: Do you know where they are?
Carly: No! Do you think that I would keep it from you and let you stay up all night if I knew where they were?
Sonny: I thought we weren't going to keep any more secrets!
Carly: Oh, no, no, no, no --
Sonny: Huh? "No, no, no" what?
Carly: No, we are not doing this now. We are not doing the betrayal thing. I came straight out and I asked Jason if something serious was going on, and he told me not to bring it up. Did I think that you'd have a problem with it and it would be a bid deal? Yes, that is why I brought it up to you. I tried to talk to you about it, and do you remember what you told me? You remember how you responded? You said it was in my imagination. And you, just like Jason, told me not to bring it up anymore. So I didnít. I did exactly what you asked, and now you act like I'm keeping some sort of big secret? Sonny, you know what? This has nothing to do with betraying you.
Courtney: Hey. You coughed all night.
Jason: It's -- it's no big deal. How are you doing?
Courtney: Well, let's see. We're still stuck in a blizzard in the middle of nowhere. That's not good. It's still coming down real hard. That's not good. But I'm with you. That's very good. Even if we are freezing. Mmm. But all things considered, I have no complaints.
Jason: Is that better?
Courtney: Yeah. To be honest, I'm still cold.
Courtney: Hmm. If I'm going to get hypothermia, I'd rather have it happen in your arms than anywhere else. Mmm. Jason, maybe this is the universe's way of saying that -- that we shouldn't tell Sonny about us.
Jason: No, we need to tell him. We need to tell him.
Courtney: He's probably going to be mad. I mean, mostly because he didn't figure it out for himself, but his pride will be hurt. Oh, gosh. You know, and he loves you like a brother. I'm sure he'll be happy for us, eventually. You sure you're okay?
Jason: Yeah, I'm okay.
Courtney: God, my toes are freezing. Are yours?
Jason: Just keep them moving.
Courtney: You know, the cold doesn't even seem to be bothering you. Does it have anything to do with that accident you were in?
Jason: Well, I can't remember before the accident, so I don't know.
Jason: I just -- I just know that I have a higher tolerance than other people for -- for heat and cold and pain. And people see that and assume I can't feel anything.
Courtney: Well, I know better.
Luke: I miss her, Barbara. Sometimes I miss her so much, I think I'm going to drown in sorrow. Then I manage to crawl out of the darkness and get on with it, and I'm doing pretty good until I find something like this box of good memories. God, look at her. She's -- she's radiant, she's happy. She's not at all like this shell that's sitting in London.
Bobbie: Do the doctors have anything encouraging to say?
Luke: No. They say that she's crawled so far inside herself, she may never come out. What if she doesn't come back to me? What if she's lost to me forever? What if -- how am I going to live with that?
Bobbie: Luke, you just keep doing what you're doing. You just keep taking a step every day, baby steps if necessary. When you fall down, you get up.
Luke: How long?
Bobbie: I don't know. With B.J., it was years before I could get through a day without feeling the loss. You're grieving, whether or not you want to admit it. You had all these dreams. And suddenly, they get taken away from you, so you get angry. And now you're having to deal with reality.
Luke: But Lauraís not dead.
Bobbie: Yeah. But in some ways, I think that's what's going to make this even worse for you. I mean, you said yourself she's lost to you. So whether you want to admit it or not, you're mourning her. And I think that's why you've been acting this way. Luke? I know you threw yourself into something with that woman that you pushed away from the car.
Luke: That woman's name is Summer. She's a friend of mine. I'm not trying to replace Laura. I don't want anyone but Laura.
Bobbie: So, have you stopped seeing Summer?
Luke: We're friends.
Bobbie: Okay. Good. I'm glad. Just -- just be careful, Luke. Don't reach out blindly for something. Don't make the same mistake I did with Damian Smith. I love you.
Luke: I love you, too.
Bobbie: I got to go. Call me if you need me. Hmm?
Luke: Yeah, I will. Thanks, Barbara.
Summer: I don't blame you for being irritated with me.
Lucky: I'm not irritated. That's not the thing. I'm just trying to figure out who you are.
Summer: That's a waste of time.
Lucky: You're freezing. Why don't we just go inside?
Summer: No. This is not going anywhere. We should just cut our losses.
Lucky: Just hold on a second, okay? I don't get a vote? Here.
Summer: You're a great guy. You deserve to be with somebody who's much less complicated than me.
Lucky: I happen to like complicated.
Summer: Well, I donít.
Lucky: Just stop looking for problems. We're interested in each other, right? You like spending time with me?
Summer: Look, I don't have relationships like you do. Mine are all about commerce. Men tell me what they want, I give it to them.
Lucky: Used to.
Summer: Used to.
Lucky: You haven't been hanging out with those guys, have you?
Summer: Well, I still see the one guy who lost his wife.
Lucky: Because you feel sorry for him?
Lucky: Are you interested in him?
Summer: See, this is none of your business, because we are not in a relationship with each other.
Lucky: Yeah, yeah, I -- well, this is just a getting-to-know-you question. So when you kissed me, did you really mean that? Or were you just going through the motions? Were you acting? Or were you doing it because it felt good? Because if that was the case, that's unfamiliar to you. And it's my guess you got scared and pulled away.
Summer: I pulled away because I felt myself splitting off and becoming an observer. It's everybody's fantasy to walk into somebody's life and change them. But that isn't the way it works. You want something that I can't give you.
Lucky: This is still the getting-to-know-you phase.
Summer: And I'll only disappoint you. Please, I am so not interested in going there.
Lucky: So, so -- wait a minute. You're content to live the rest of your life not feeling anything real for someone. Is that what you want?
Summer: It's okay for not everybody to be like you. I'm happier this way. Please, you have always been such a gentleman. Please continue to be one now and let it go. Please.
[Knock on door]
Summer: Luke? Hello?
Luke's voice: "Laura, open those big, beautiful blue eyes and see what's staring you in the face. Me. The way I feel about you. You shackled to Scotty is a waste of who you are, who you want to be. Run away with me -- now, tonight. I wasn't looking to fall in love. I didn't want it. I've been skating by in my universe of one up to now. But it's not enough anymore. I need you. We need each other."
Luke: What are you doing?
Summer: I was going to leave you a note. I found this letter. I read it. I was just thinking that, you know, once in my life, I'd really like to receive a letter like that, be loved like that. And love that person right back.
Zander: Coffee, please.
Nikolas: Coffee, please, Penny. Thank you.
Nikolas: It's cold out there, huh? You know, life's funny, Zander. You go along, same old same old, and something happens to put things into perspective, get you back on focus. It happened to me when Stefan put me in charge of the family business. I complain, but it gave me a direction.
Zander: Is there a point here?
Nikolas: Well, I want to help you put your life into perspective.
Nikolas: This should give you a fresh start.
Zander: Just like that, huh?
Nikolas: Three strings attached -- one, no one knows I gave it to you. Two, your fresh start should be at least 500 miles from here. And, three, you never come back.
Carly: Instead of looking for someone to blame, maybe you should be asking yourself why your sister and your best friend wouldn't be able to tell you that something might be going on between them?
Sonny: Jason's job was to guard Courtney. That -- and nothing more.
Carly: Oh, did you order him not to get involved with your sister?
Sonny: I didn't think I had to! I didn't think I had to!
Carly: I heard.
Sonny: But you know what? Now, I'm starting to -- it's starting to come to me, because you know what? I remember at the trial, I kept telling Courtney to leave. And she wouldn't. She said she doesn't take orders from me and that she wanted to stay there to support me just in case something bad happened. And then, she insisted on going to the police station because she knew Jason was there. And then we kept asking Jason -- remember that? -- Where he'd been? He kept ducking the question. He was with my sister then, wasn't he? Wasn't he?
Carly: Okay, okay, hold on a second.
Sonny: Just tell me!
Carly: All right, he wasn't ducking anything. You know Jason better than that. He wouldn't lie. He told me to stay out of his private life, so I did. And as far as I know, I don't think that you asked him directly if anything was going on between them. You know what? Who cares? Really, because if he has fallen for Courtney, good for him. What is your problem with it, Sonny?
[Knock on door]
Carly: I'm -- go away! What's your problem?
Sonny: What's -- forget it.
Carly: Ric, this is a really bad time.
Sonny: No, it's not! I called him!
Sonny: You locate Jason and Courtney?
Ric: Well, so far, I've turned up nothing. I checked the airports and both of their credit card activity, Courtney's mother, and the woman who watches Courtney's dog. Nobody's heard from them.
Carly: Yeah, which means absolutely nothing.
Sonny: No, it means something. It means that this is important to Jason. It's important enough for him to cover his tracks. Which means if he doesn't want to be found, he won't be found.
Courtney: You're careful about showing your feelings to other people. And I've watched you and when things get crazy or you just don't want to deal, you go somewhere, you know, deep inside yourself. When people see that, they -- they just think that you're this cold person.
Jason: But some -- sometimes, they're right. There are things that -- that people think are important, that shouldn't matter to me, but I don't care about them at all.
Courtney: What does matter to you?
Jason: My family. Sonny and -- and Carly.
Jason: And Michael. And my sister Emily.
Jason: And you. You matter to me. A lot.
Courtney: I shouldn't need to hear you say that, but I do. I can see it in your eyes. I can sense it when we're in a room together.
Courtney: Something that I've -- are you okay? Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Jason. Oh, my God, you're really hurt. Oh, my God. How bad is it? The truth.
Jason: It's -- it's bad.
Courtney: Jason, how long have you been coughing up blood? All night? Oh, God.
Jason: I'll be okay if I don't move around.
Courtney: God, have you been bleeding since we went off the road?
Jason: I think I -- I punctured my left lung. That's why I'm having trouble breathing.
Courtney: Okay, okay, just stay here. I'm going to go get help.
Courtney: No, I'll follow the road. Jason, you have to get to a hospital.
Jason: You're not going to save either of us going out into the blizzard. Just let go of how afraid you are and think. You know, where my -- we have to stay here.
Courtney: No, Jason, I can't do nothing.
Jason: You -- you need to help me. I -- I need your body heat and -- and I need you to keep me awake and talking. I need you to get me through this. Please -- please. Please.
Sonny: If you know anything about Courtney seeing Jason, now is the time to tell me.
Ric: Well, Elizabeth told me about a loft where Jason and Courtney used to meet. See, I wasn't made aware of this until yesterday, but apparently Elizabeth blames Courtney for breaking her and Jason up, but she -- she followed them to the loft once. And we went out for a walk and, I don't know, for one reason or another, she led us straight there and that's when we saw Jason and Courtney coming out together.
Sonny: What made Elizabeth think that they were eloping?
Ric: Well, they had bags and -- well, Courtney -- Courtney said something about how excited she was and she couldn't believe that they were doing this, and Jason asked her if she was scared and she said no, that he was right, this was the natural next step.
Sonny: I want an address.
Ric: It's 672 Paulson Street. Look, Sonny, I'm sure this is some sort of misunderstanding here.
Carly: Yeah, thank you.
Ric: You know, Jason's your friend. He -- if there were something serious going on between he and your sister, why wouldn't he tell you?
Sonny: Why? Because I don't want what I do, the life I'm in, to touch my sister. And Jason knows it.
Zander: If I took money from everybody that didn't like me in this town, well, I -- I wouldn't be quite as rich as you, but I'd be very comfortable.
Nikolas: You're right about one thing, Zander -- I don't like you, but Gia does. She thinks you've got potential and she'd like to see you live to experience it. I'm simply offering you the means to do it.
Zander: Does it bother you that much that Gia's been helping me out?
Nikolas: Zander, it bothers me that people around you get hurt, like Elizabeth, like Emily, who you claimed to love so much, or like the narc who ended up murdered. And it does bother me that my fiancťe has made you her temporary pet project. So I'm going to put a happy ending to this before her name ends up on your long list of victims. Now, if you like her at all, you will want the same thing. Take the money.
Zander: I don't take charity.
Gia: What's going on?
Luke: I wrote this about a hundred years ago. My wife was with another guy at the time. It's not like me to pour myself into a letter like that, open my heart up. Apparently, I thought better of it and I didn't send it.
Summer: If you had sent it, she'd have been with you much sooner. It's beautiful the way you love her. I can feel it just in the way you treat me.
Luke: Even when I come on strong? Come on, I got to be a little scary.
Summer: You were a little scary at Wyndham's. But you were just trying to get back someone you love.
Luke: Trying to recapture magic and perfection. Trying to get back the love when the one you love is gone. It's a pathetic, pointless exercise.
Summer: No. No, most men let go of their promises and the people that they say they love far too quickly. But not you. You hold on with more passion than any man that I've ever met.
Luke: You know, maybe I am trying to make you into a substitute. And if I am, that's not fair to you. So if this is too much for you, we can call it quits.
Summer: You've got it all wrong, though. I mean, I like the way you treat me. You are kindler and gentler and more wonderful than any man has ever been to me. You make me feel special.
Luke: You are. Any ordinary person would've jumped off this ride after the first go-round.
Summer: Well, then, they would've missed the thrill. Besides, Luke, I mean, if it's just make-believe, what's the harm? I want to go on the way we've been -- if you do. I like who I am when I'm with you. You help get me outside of myself and stop obsessing about my own problems. I want to help each other the way we've been. I don't want it to stop.
Gia: Am I interrupting?
Nikolas: No, not at all. I just came in to grab a quick cup of coffee, I ran into Zander. I thought you had class.
Gia: Hmm. Professor got snowed in, so I was here to meet Zander for some coffee. Please tell me you weren't giving him a hard time.
Zander: No, actually, Nikolas and I were talking about my future plans. He was being very supportive.
Gia: Well, I'm glad to hear it. You're not about to rush off someplace, are you?
Nikolas: Uh -- no, no.
Gia: Well, can I take a rain check on that coffee, then?
Gia: Nikolas and I need to talk about a couple of things.
Nikolas: Think about it.
Zander: I'll see you around.
Courtney: You know, you have to be okay because Sonny will never speak to me again.
Jason: It wouldn't matter.
Courtney: Jason, what can I do?
Jason: Just keep talking.
Courtney: Okay, okay. Um -- when this is over, the first thing we'll do, we'll go the Caymans, okay? We'll find the perfect island, the perfect beach, and we'll just lay on the sand without towels until we got hot, which should take about three days. Okay. Stay with me, baby. Um -- have you ever gone sailing?
Courtney: Okay, well -- well, since I'm dreaming, we'll -- we'll sail around the island.
Courtney: Okay, stay with me. Come on. We'll sail around the island, we'll sleep on the boat, and we'll -- we'll lay on the deck and we'll look up at the sky and we'll watch the stars and and I'll just fall asleep in your arms while you read to me. Okay?
Jason: What -- what do you want me to read?
Courtney: Oh. Anything. I don't care. I just like to be read to. And I love the sound of your voice. How are you doing? Okay?
Jason: Yeah, I'm -- I'm okay. Where would we go next?
Courtney: Oh, I don't know. I'm -- the only places I've ever been besides Port Charles are Reno and Atlantic City -- and the island that A.J. took me to, so the rest of the world is wide open.
Courtney: Okay. We'll go to Spain. After we sail and learn how to scuba dive, we'll go to Spain.
Ric: You sure there's nothing else I can do besides keep looking for Jason and Courtney?
Carly: Yeah, well, I got a few things in mind for Elizabeth Webber, but I doubt that you're up for the job. That's why I never trusted that little witch in the first place. She went ahead and she opened her jealous mouth about something that was none of her business and things she does not understand.
Ric: Well, you know, Sonny seems pretty definite about what he thinks is going on.
Carly: I'll tell you what's going on with Sonny -- he is at war with himself. The evidence -- it all points to Jason betraying Sonny, but Sonny knows that's not true. He knows Jason never would, and that is what's tearing Sonny apart.
Summer: These belong to Lucky. He was upstairs.
Summer: Could you see to it that he gets them?
Summer: Thank you.
Zander: Hello? Emily? Yeah, no, no, no. I'm glad Ned gave it to you. Yeah, I've wanted to -- I wanted to apologize for that last call that I made, you know. I was -- I was pretty messed up. It was pretty bad. But, hey, I'm all better now. You're coming back to Port Charles? When?
Summer: I was just returning the gloves that you lent me. I -- they're with the waitress.
Lucky: No big deal, thank you. I've been thinking about our conversation we had earlier, so let me see if I got this straight. There's no point in going out with you because you think I want a relationship with you. And you don't want to be feeling anything for anybody. Right? Is that the problem? Or is it about this guy who lost his wife? Are you falling in love with him?
Nikolas: Fine. I admit it, okay? I followed Zander to Kellyís.
Nikolas: Hey, what is it -- it doesn't matter, Gia. Listen -- God. I'm tired of the fighting. Okay? I'm sick of the distance between us. Gia, I mean, look, you're in law school now and I am extremely happy for you, okay, but I miss you. You know, you're living out at Wyndemere with all those empty rooms. I'm in the Port Charles hotel, and quite frankly, I'm tired of being alone.
Gia: Oh, I'm lonely, too. I miss you so much. It's just I keep wanting to make the first move and my pride gets in the way.
Nikolas: You know, this -- this morning I woke up and I looked around the hotel suite and I realized that it was time for me to put my pride aside. The distance is too much, Gia. Okay, and I -- I don't -- I don't want to lose you. I donít.
Gia: That's not going to happen.
Nikolas: I love you so much.
Gia: I love you, too.
Gia: Um -- why don't we take this inside, someplace warmer?
Nikolas: That's a good idea.
Gia: Good. Wait, wait, hold on. Is this yours? What is this?
Carly: Okay. I know you're torturing yourself here and you need to stop. There's an explanation for all of this. Jason and Courtney -- they left for a reason and as soon as they come back, they will explain it all.
Sonny: Yeah, right.
Carly: Hey, I know you live your life on guard and that your mind automatically leaps to betrayal the minute something happens that you don't want. But Jason, of all people in your life, would never, ever betray you.
Sonny: I don't care how Jason's relationship with Courtney started or what the intent. What matters is that it ends, and it's going to as soon as I find them.
Carly: Sonny --
Sonny: "Sonny" nothing.
Courtney: When we get to Spain, we'll -- we'll get motorcycles. We'll travel around on them. Jason, stay with me. Stay with me. What's the name of that -- that city where that artist did all those wonderful buildings?
Courtney: Yeah, that's right. Just nod, okay? Okay? Would you like that? Okay. And you know what might be fun if we don't have any definite plans, though, you know, we'll just -- just head off in -- in a direction and we'll -- we'll pick a road if we have a good feeling about it, you know, and we'll -- we'll stay there and explore --
Courtney: Okay, well -- oh, Jason, but you have to hang on. You have to hang on, okay? I love you.
Jason: I love you, too.
Courtney: Jason? Jason, you have to hang on. Jason, you have to stay with me or you're going to freeze. Come on -- no, you can't -- you can't leave me. Oh --
[Courtney honks car horn]
>> On the next "General Hospital" --
Summer: He's a client and a friend.
Lucky: Hooking without the sex.
Gia: You were bribing him to stay away from me, weren't you?
Alexis: Is this how you demonstrate how fit you are to be a father?
Carly: How do you think she is going to react when you tell her she can't have her prince, either?
Sonny: Jason is not a prince.
Courtney: I am not going to let you leave me.
