>> Previously on "General Hospital" --

Zander: Look at me right now. You see Peter, don't you, lying on the ground?

Cameron: Yes.

Zander: You wish it was me, don't you?

Cameron: Every day.

Scott: Now you understand why Brenda Morgan was so desperate to get her hands on this tape. It proves that she tried to kill Alcazar once before.

Alexis: I object to this, your honor.

Sonny: It's over.

Lucky: Laura?

Summer: Help me, please.

Lucky: I'm going to call 911.

Summer: No.

Lucky: We have to get you to a hospital.

Summer: No, just help me up, please.

[Summer groans]

Lucky: Okay. Here. Who did this?

Summer: Oh. Some guy.

Lucky: Which guy?

Summer: Some guy.

Lucky: Was it the guy that you were working for?

Summer: No. He would never do this. He's too sweet.

Lucky: Was it the senator? It was the senator, wasn't it, the guy that got us arrested?

Summer: Yeah.

Lucky: Yeah. You know what -- first, I'm going to call the hospital. And, second --

Summer: No.

Lucky: That senator's going to pay.

Summer: No. No. You can't tell anybody. Just leave it alone.

Gia: That was nice and destructive. What's that old saying -- "Like father, like son"?

Zander: Emily? Emily? Emily! Emily. Stay right there. I'm coming for you.

Jax: You know what? To hell with this.

Brenda: What are you doing?

Jax: Pick up the equipment later. Get the hell out of here.

Brenda: Jax, turn it back on.

Jax: Go on, go. Go.

Brenda: It's a court order, you can't just turn it off. Get him back in here.

Jax: You know what?

Brenda: What are you doing?

Jax: If the judge has a problem with it, let Alexis deal with it.

Brenda: What's Alexis going to do? She couldn't stop the trial when I'm in the hospital. She couldn't even stop that tape from going to court.

Jax: You know, she wouldn't have the damn tape if it wasn't for me.

Brenda: That's not true. Go get the cameraman, bring him back in here. I need to talk to the jury!

Jax: No. No. Baldwin will never let you.

Brenda: This is ridiculous! That tape is ridiculous.

Jax: I know, I know.

Brenda: Luis had me on heavy drugs. And, yeah, I mean, I got mad and, yeah, I picked up the scissors, but that doesn't mean that I would actually hurt anyone like that. I was just trying to scare him.

Jax: Brenda, Brenda, the jury will never buy it.

Brenda: Well, I -- I need to talk to the jury and try to convince them myself. I mean, that's the whole point of a trial, isn't it?

Jax: Listen to me, listen to me. It's too late for that. I think you know that. There's only one way out of this -- you give up Jason.

Scott: We lost the closed-circuit feed.

Judge: Mrs. Morgan is no longer connected?

Scott: That's contempt, your honor.

Alexis: That's equipment failure, your honor.

Judge: She has a point, Mr. Baldwin. Approach the bench. Ms. Davis, please? Thank you.

Courtney: What do you mean, it's over?

Sonny: Don't worry about it.

Courtney: Does that tape prove that Brenda killed Alcazar?

Sonny: It's a setback, that's all.

Courtney: Well, do you think that she did it, Sonny?

Sonny: It can be handled. Anything can be handled.

Scott: The tape is obviously relevant to this case.

Alexis: Which is why I move, once again, for a continuance, your honor.

Judge: Why? So you can do your homework?

Alexis: Your honor, I never knew of the existence of this tape, let alone have the opportunity to review its contents.

Scott: I just got it a few hours ago myself!

Alexis: I don't appreciate sneak attacks, Counselor. And not only that, they happen to be highly illegal, which gives me ample grounds for a mistrial, which I'm requesting at this time.

Judge: Not in my courtroom.

Alexis: Your Honor, the district attorney knew very well that the contents on this tape would present my client in an inflammatory and an unfair manner. He deliberately set out to prejudice that jury so that my clients would have no possible way of getting a fair trial.

Scott: Just because you don't like what's on the tape doesn't mean that you can start this all over again!

Alexis: I have the right to at least review the tape and I need to check its authenticity.

Judge: Save it for the appeals court. This court is adjourned.

Bailiff: All rise.

Jason: What are you going to do?

Alexis: I have no idea.

A.J.: How does it feel to win?

Skye: The trial isn't over yet.

A.J.: Come on, that tape proves that Brenda tried to kill Alcazar, and this time Jason finished the job. It's a slam dunk.

Skye: Don't be so sure.

A.J.: Oh, you know what? Give yourself a break. Okay, so you botched your testimony. Doesn't matter. It's over. Jason and Brenda lose big-time, finally. Ha.

Coleman: We've got trouble.

A.J.: What do you mean, "we"? Who are you?

Skye: Oh, A.J., Give it a break, okay?

Coleman: Courtney figured out we're working together.

A.J.: How'd that happen?

Skye: Well, she's not stupid.

Coleman: Sonny found out that we paid off Ida.

Skye: Courtney told him?

A.J.: I didn't pay off anyone.

Skye: God, A.J., Look, I think that we really need -- oh, God. He's staring at us.

A.J.: So what? Calm down.

Coleman: Corinthos said if Brenda and Jason end up on the wrong side of this deal that it could be adios for me, so --

Skye: Oh, my God.

Coleman: Yeah, the plan is starting to unravel a little bit, isn't it?

A.J.: That's your problem. Let's go.

Courtney: How can you just let them go? Sonny, Coleman set up that whole Ida thing. Her whole testimony was probably a lie.

Sonny: I'll take care of it.

Courtney: What does that mean?

Sonny: That means the less you know, the better.

Alexis: The damage is done. The judge is not going to consider a mistrial. He's not going to let me prepare, and I'm running out of options. I'm definitely putting Brenda on the stand.

Jason: No, no. She'll fall apart.

Alexis: Not if it keeps her out of prison. She's the only one that can refute what's on that tape. I'm going to have to put you on the stand, too.

Jason: Hey, that's not going to help.

Alexis: Jason, I know you didn't do it. I know you're innocent, which is why I agreed to represent you, but you are going to have to help yourself. You are going to have to prove your innocence to the jury.

Jason: I am no good on the stand.

Alexis: You did fine at Michael's custody trial.

Jason: Yeah, but that was different.

Alexis: What do you want me to do? What do you want me to tell you? That I can work this out on my own, because I can't. You saw that tape, you saw how damaging it was to her. He is controlling her from the grave, and you may have the opportunity to help him, but you're going to have to break your ridiculous code of silence. I am not asking you to testify against her. I'm asking you to save her life, and, in turn, save your own. Do you think that you can manage that?

News anchor: In a stunning move, District Attorney Scott Baldwin presented a videotape which showed Brenda Barrett Morgan attacking Luis Alcazar with a pair of scissors. Defense Attorney Alexis Davis seemed caught off guard by the presentation of this new and potentially --

[Edward turns off TV]

Alan: Hey!

Edward: I won't have that journalistic claptrap in this house.

Alan: I want to hear it.

Edward: We know how it ends, Alan. Why do you want to see it rehashed on TV?

Alan: That tape is going to send Brenda and Jason to prison.

Edward: Oh, how could Alexis have allowed that to happen?

Monica: She's a smart attorney. She'll come up with something.

Edward: Well, sure, just like she lost your sexual harassment suit.

Alan: Why must you always dwell on the negative?

Edward: Because I am a realist, Alan, and the fact remains that your too miserable children --

Monica: Ah-ah-ah -- I am not responsible for Skye.

Edward: Your children are deliberately sending their own brother to death row.

Alan: They told the truth.

[Edward scoffs]

Monica: You want to know the truth? Skye is a falling-down drunk, and A.J. will say anything he can to hurt Jason.

Alan: Let me tell you something -- truth is an important part of anyone's sobriety.

Edward: Oh, please! No more of that 12-step whining, Alan!

Monica: I am so sick of hearing you make excuses for the two of them.

Alan: They have their reasons. That's all I'm saying.

Monica: Oh -- and you --

Edward: What?

Monica: Well, you have pitted Jason and A.J. against each other since they were babies.

Edward: Don't you blame that on me, Monica.

Monica: No, of course not. There is no blame or responsibility. Come on, A.J. brain-damages Jason? Well, that's too bad. He burns down a warehouse? Oh, well. Skye comes in and steals your business right out from under you --

Edward: I got it back.

Monica: Oh, come on! She walked into this house, she ripped this family apart, she's never had to pay for anything, and A.J. has been causing trouble for us since he was in boarding school!

Alan: That's completely unfair.

Monica: Oh, Alan --

Zander: Emily!

Monica: Oh, my --

Zander: Emily!

Alan: Hey!

Edward: Get out of here! Get out!

Zander: I want to see Emily right now!

Alan: What the hell are you doing here?

Monica: Zander?

Cameron: Ahem -- even psychiatrists have their moments.

Gia: You mean temper tantrums?

Cameron: Well, that's why the door was closed.

Gia: Do you even care how I know?

Cameron: That I'm Alexander's father? I assume he told you.

Gia: You assume a lot of things, don't you?

Cameron: Am I wrong?

Gia: Zander does that -- answers a question with a question. He likes to pretend like he doesn't care, either, like he's above it all.

Cameron: You seem to know him pretty well.

Gia: No one knows Zander very well. He basically has no friends.

Cameron: There's a surprise.

Gia: I'm starting to understand why.

Cameron: With me as a father? Is that the road we're taking here?

Gia: Zander bounces from person to person, from job to job. He's all over the place all the time.

Cameron: And it's all Daddy's fault?

Gia: You're pretty defensive, aren't you?

Cameron: You planning to be a psychiatrist?

Gia: An attorney. I'm interested in why people do things.

Cameron: And what sort of "things" has Alexander done?

Gia: You haven't read his file?

Cameron: Caught up in the paper mill. Besides, medical files aren't all that helpful, but people are. What can you tell me about my son?

Gia: Where do I start? When he was dealing drugs at raves? Or maybe when he kidnapped Emily Quartermaine by gunpoint and dragged her to Canada. Or maybe when Zander was the prime suspect in the murder of an undercover cop.

Brenda: I'm not going to say that Jason killed Luis. You already know this.

Jax: Not even to save yourself?

Brenda: What about saving my integrity?

Jax: He was going to kill him, anyway.

Brenda: Jax -- oh, perfect.

Scott: Am I interrupting?

Brenda: Yes, you are.

Jax: Brenda's ready to make a deal.

Brenda: No, I'm not!

Jax: Look, we both know that you don't want Brenda for this, you want Sonny and Jason, right?

Scott: Go on.

Jax: Well, she can give them to you.

Brenda: No, I can't.

Scott: Well, it doesn't look like she's onboard.

Jax: Look, what if she were to testify under oath that she went after Alcazar with a knife?

Brenda: Jax, I already said that.

Jax: Then she couldn't --

Brenda: I already told him that!

Jax: Then she couldn't go through with it. Jason came in, he threw Alcazar off the terrace --

Brenda: But he didn't.

Jax: On Sonny's orders, and she was just a witness? Then Jason dragged her out of the hotel and threatened to kill her if she testified against him.

Brenda: Well, that's a great plan, except it didn't happen!

Scott: If that was her testimony, yes, we could work a deal.

Jax: That's not good enough. Will Brenda go free?

Scott: If she testifies to what you just said, yes, we would have a deal. You would walk.

Jax: Well, that's it, then.

Brenda: It's not going to happen.

Jax: Brenda --

Brenda: What?

Jax: Listen to me. If you love me, if you want to spend your life with me, then you'll take the deal.

Brenda: Jax, no.

Jax: Take the deal, Brenda!

Brenda: No, I am not going to take the deal! I am not going to lie!

Jax: Damn it! You are throwing away your life, and for what? Sonny's errand boy?

Brenda: Why are you being so unfair right now?

Jax: You know what? This is not fair. This is always about Sonny!

Brenda: What are you talking about? Why are you bringing him up again?

Jax: You want to sacrifice your life for Sonny Corinthos! You always do the same thing.

Brenda: It's not true.

Jax: You know what? You don't want to be saved, do you? I'm done with you. You and I are finished. I'll be in Australia tomorrow morning, and you won't even be a memory.

[Door slams]

Scott: Brenda, the guy loves you. Take the deal, but it's only good today.

Brenda: Could you leave?

Lucky: Did the shower help?

Summer: I feel a lot better, yeah.

Lucky: Look, I -- I don't know how to say this, so I'm just -- I'm going to say it. That guy rape you?

Summer: He beat me up, that's all.

Lucky: That's all?

Summer: It happens.

Lucky: Let me take you to a doctor, Laura.

Summer: No, nothing's broken. I just -- I just need sleep, aspirin. I'll be fine.

Lucky: That's it?

Summer: Yeah. You know, I just really want to forget this happened.

Lucky: The guy beats you up, gets you arrested. You let him into your apartment, now this?

Summer: Uh-uh.

Lucky: I just -- I don't --

Summer: No, no, no, no. I did not let him in. He was here when I got here.

Lucky: How'd he get in? Did you give him a key?

Summer: Of course not. What, do you think I'm stupid?

Lucky: I just want you to see how sick this situation is. The guy practically stalks you, tosses you in jail whenever he feels like it. Laura, you need to fight back.

Summer: I don't need to do anything.

Lucky: Why should this guy get away with this, then? Because he's a senator?

Summer: Oh, Lucky, you are so sweet and you have such good intentions. But, seriously, this is my life. Stay out of it.

Gia: Emily decided to save Zander, even after he kidnapped her. Nobody understood it at all, especially her parents. I figured it was a bad-boy thing, you know, and that Zander wanted Emily because she was so rich.

Cameron: You're cynical. I like that.

Gia: I just told you I wanted to be an attorney. Anyway, Zander was on trial for killing this undercover cop, and somehow Emily convinced Alexis Davis to help. Alexis saved Zander from death row.

Cameron: Well, that was good of Alexis to take the case.

Gia: The state tries to execute your son and this is the best you can do?

Cameron: Aren't you being a little dramatic?

Gia: You don't care about Zander at all, do you?

Cameron: Did Alexander kill the undercover cop?

Gia: No.

Cameron: Then I'm glad it worked out.

Gia: No thanks to you.

Cameron: You know, good attorneys don't jump to conclusions like that.

Gia: What conclusion? You either take care of your kids or you don't.

Cameron: Alexander had his reasons for leaving home. I had my reasons for not going after him.

Gia: Excuses, if you ask me.

Cameron: Alexander was always like a pinball, just like you said -- bouncing from one person, one thing to another. But his brother, Peter -- Peter was a straight-a student, varsity basketball by his sophomore year in high school. House was always swarming with his friends, phone was always ringing. He was making good grades at Princeton, and Alexander shot him.

Gia: It was an accident!

Cameron: He told you that?

Gia: Yes!

Cameron: Did he tell you about all the hunter safety -- gun safety courses that we took? How we'd gone over when to shoot just minutes before? Peter was wearing an orange vest, for God's sakes. I'd taken every precaution. And what happened? Something moved. Alexander shot it. And I watched my son bleed to death right in front of me.

Gia: What about your other son?

Cameron: Ahem. He couldn't handle the grief.

Gia: And you could?

Cameron: He was the one who ran away.

Gia: You didn't even try to find him.

Cameron: Oh, I can only imagine what Alexander has told you. But from what you've told me, he hasn't changed a bit. He still doesn't think. He still has no concern for the people he hurts.

Gia: I never said that.

Cameron: Look. I can't get past what happened, all right? If that makes me wrong, then I'm wrong. But I can't help Alexander, and there's no point in fighting with him.

Gia: So you're giving up before you even get started?

Cameron: It's better for everyone if I stay as far away from Alexander as possible.

Zander: Where is Emily?

Alan: She's not here.

Zander: That's a lie.

Monica: She is in California.

Zander: Where you sent her before? You expect me to believe that?

Edward: No, Emily is starting off on a life on her own without you, and she's much better off.

Zander: I know she's here.

Edward: No -- hey, hey --

Zander: Emily!

Edward: You call the police, I'll keep this savage at bay!

Alan: Put the poker down!

Zander: You want to hit me, old man? Come on!

Alan: Listen, what did you take?

Zander: Take? I don't have to take this!

Alan: Listen, did you take PCP? Did you take crystal --

Zander: Pills!

Alan: How many? What kind?

Zander: The good kind! I don't know! Emily!

Alan: Zander, hold on!

Zander: She's got to be here.

Monica: Emily is in California -- Zander.

Zander: Is -- is she okay?

Monica: Yes. Yes, she's fine.

Alan: She's fine, Zander.

Zander: She's got to be here.

Monica: No, she is not here.

Alan: Zander --

Monica: Come on, Zander, you've got to -- Zander! Zander? Alan, call 911. Tell them it's an overdose.

Ric: Bobbie, hi.

Bobbie: Hi.

Ric: I was wondering if you could tell me where Brenda Morgan's room is.

Bobbie: Brenda can't have any visitors.

Ric: Really? Is she that sick?

Bobbie: District attorney's orders.

Ric: But she's out on bail. They can't hold her prisoner.

Bobbie: Yeah, well, you know, you're dealing with Scott Baldwin and he kind of makes up the law as he goes along.

Ric: Yeah, yeah, I've noticed that.

Bobbie: Yeah, so you're going to have to clear any visits with him. I'm sorry.

Ric: It's okay. Thanks.

Elizabeth: Why do you need to see Brenda?

Brenda: What do you want?

Jax: Is Scott around?

Brenda: I thought you were flying back to Australia and I was just going to be a memory.

Jax: Are you sure he's gone?

Brenda: I don't know, Jax. I'm in bed.

Jax: Okay, listen to me.

Brenda: No, no, no.

Jax: I'm sorry what I said before, okay?

Brenda: You should be sorry for what you said before.

Jax: It was for Scott's benefit, okay? I had to do that. I had to make him believe that you and I are finished for the plan to work.

Brenda: What plan?

Jax: Look, I know you don't want to incriminate Jason, but now that the jury's seen the tape --

Brenda: Jax, if I just had the opportunity to speak to the jury -- this is what I was trying to tell you before.

Jax: Brenda, the jury will convict you.

Brenda: What's the plan?

Jax: We have to escape. I mean, vanish without a trace.

Brenda: What, you want me to leave in the middle of the trial? You talking about right now?

Jax: I'm going to fly to Sydney in an hour. I'm going to switch jets, then get a new identity. I'm going to liquefy everything and send the cash to Lisbon. Then I'm going to get us new identities. Look, we can -- we can buy a house, maybe get a place out in the country. I'm going to set up a brand-new life for us. It's going to take me a little time. The trial is just starting, so --

Brenda: Alexis said that she could slow everything down with the tape.

Jax: Right. I'm counting on it. I'm going to contact you when the escape plan is in order. Then we can vanish.

Brenda: I'd have to tell Jason.

Jax: Yeah, yeah, tell him. Tell him so he can work on his own escape. That's good. I want you to hang on to this. Never let go of it. Okay? Don't put it in your coat pocket like you always do. You're going to get one phone call from me, telling you where to meet me. I'll be out of contact until then.

Brenda: You know I don't want to do this, right?

Jax: I know, I know, I know. But you saw the tape. You figure the odds. It's the only way.

Brenda: I'm going to call Jason, and then I'll wait for your call.

Jax: Trust me. This will work.

Jax: I love you. I'll see you soon.

Brenda: I love you, too.

Lucky: You know that girl I told you about? The one who was raped?

Summer: No, no, that's not what's happening here.

Lucky: She was scared like you are now. She was ashamed.

Summer: You have no idea how I am right now.

Lucky: She didn't want to tell the cops, and I went along with it because I didn't know any better. But when it came time for her to fight back, we didn't have any evidence, and the cops couldn't even help us.

Summer: And that guy got away with it, didn't he?

Lucky: Yeah, for a while. We finally caught up with him, though. But if we would have told them what had happened that night in the park --

Summer: Look, I wasn't raped.

Lucky: But if you keep it from them, it only gives this guy more power. Is that what you want?

Summer: I am not some scared little kid in a park. I am an ex-call girl with a record. He's a senator.

Lucky: Yeah, and you get on that phone, call the press, his career is over.

Summer: Let me tell you something -- if I file a complaint, nobody's going to believe me, nobody's going to help me. But he is going to find out about it and I'm going to get it worse next time, okay?

Lucky: That's like saying it's okay.

Summer: I have one option here -- let it go. That's what I'm doing. I'm begging you to do the same.

Lucky: It's wrong.

Summer: One date. One date and you're ready to step in and take over? Is that --

Lucky: I mean I disagree.

Summer: I need some sleep.

Lucky: On our date, I mean, I had fun, for whatever it's worth.

Summer: It's worth a lot. Bye.

Lucky: Do you need anything?

Summer: Some sleep, some aspirin.

Lucky: Oh, I brought over those CDs for you. Just keep them for a while.

Summer: Cool. Thanks.

Lucky: Yeah. Are you sure you're okay?

Summer: You can call, if you want, in a day or two.

Lucky: I will. Don't worry.

[Summer groans]

Ric: You know, if I didn't know any better, I'd say that you were spying on me again.

Elizabeth: Well, I could tell you I dropped by the hospital to say hello to my grandmother.

Ric: And you'd expect me to believe that?

Elizabeth: Well, why should you? You already know I was spying. And I did hear every word.

Ric: And you know I'm here to see Brenda.

Elizabeth: Why?

Ric: You're the spy. You tell me.

Elizabeth: That's what I get for dropping by the police station, for being a friend in need?

Ric: It's about the trial.

Elizabeth: Oh, now, there's a surprise.

Ric: I just want to let Brenda know that I'm not going to testify against her.

Elizabeth: You're in this pretty deep, aren't you?

Ric: So do you know what's going on at the courthouse?

Elizabeth: The tape's all over the news.

Ric: That means Baldwin's going to try to use it to get a confession out of Brenda. I need to let her know that I'm on her side.

Elizabeth: Do you know something that could incriminate her?

Ric: Can't really tell you.

Elizabeth: You're taking the fifth?

Ric: No, it's for your benefit, not mine.

Elizabeth: Doesn't being a lawyer give you a headache? Always implying, never really admitting anything?

Ric: It's just the way I think. What can I tell you?

Elizabeth: Hmm. Then let me ask you this -- are you reassuring Brenda because you like her or to impress Sonny?

Courtney's voice: "I'm alone, waiting here for him, afraid he'll be arrested on his way -- here. I almost wrote 'home.' 'Don't think, just keep writing.' That's what I tell myself. Writing in my journal keeps me from going crazy. I don't know what's going to happen or how to help. I wish this would all disappear and that everyone would leave us alone here in our place and everything would be quiet. No phones would ring. Nothing bad would happen, and I would find the courage to tell Jason how I feel, to tell Jason that I love him."

[Door opens]

Courtney: You got here.

Jason: Yeah. Hmm. I'm okay. Okay.

Courtney: Oh, I just -- I can't help but get scared. I mean, court was so terrible.

Jason: What is it? What are you doing?

Courtney: It's -- it's just my journal.

Jason: What are you writing?

Courtney: Nothing.

Jason: Can I see it?

Courtney: No.

Jason: Why?

Courtney: Because it's private.

Jason: Come on --

Courtney: No!

Jason: Come on.

Courtney: No, no, no, no, no.

Jason: Come on, come on. How private?

Courtney: Give it back.

Jason: No, no, no.

Courtney: Give it back.

Jason: You want to see this --

Courtney: It's private!

Jason: You got to get it back from me. Here you go. Here you go. Take it.

Courtney: Give it back!

[Door opens]

Scott: Oh. I guess I didn't wake you.

Brenda: What do you want?

Scott: I just had a meeting with the judge.

Brenda: And?

Scott: Alexis asked for a postponement. He turned her down. I need a day, then the defense takes over. She's got no evidence and no witnesses, and the judge won't let her stall.

Brenda: Yeah, but I don't -- she's barely had a chance to look at the tape.

Scott: Who cares? The jury's seen it. This whole thing will be over in two or three days, tops.

Brenda: No, no, no, no. This -- this is supposed to take a few weeks.

Scott: Who told you that? See, I'm betting two or three hours, and some folks around the courthouse, they're betting 45 minutes.

Brenda: So why are you telling me this?

Scott: Because time is a-wasting. Once this goes to the jury, I can't help you. So, if you're going to roll over on Jason, do it now.

Brenda: Hi.

Bobbie: Oh -- are you all right?

Brenda: Yeah. Can I get my I.V. out? Do you think? It's really uncomfortable.

Bobbie: Oh, well, what if you need pain medication later on?

Brenda: You know what? I'm really not in pain anymore. It's just I'm -- I'm trying to sleep and every time I move, it stings and I wake up.

Bobbie: Well, you don't seem to be dehydrated. And it says right here we can remove it if you'll drink your fluids.

Brenda: I will.

Bobbie: Okay.

Brenda: Thank you so much.

Bobbie: There you go. Oh -- sorry about that. Just hurts a little. You've had a pretty tough couple of days, haven't you?

Brenda: Yeah. How come everything always seems worse at night?

Bobbie: Well, things do have a way of working out and seeming better in the morning.

Brenda: Well, I'll try and remember that.

Bobbie: You know, there are a lot of people who care about you.

Brenda: Yeah?

Bobbie: Yeah. And this will work out.

Brenda: Yeah.

Bobbie: Get some sleep, okay?

Brenda: Okay. Thanks.

Monica: Well, now maybe you can get some rest.

[Knock on door]

Monica: Yes?

Gia: Dr. Quartermaine?

Monica: Oh, come in.

Gia: I was here to meet Nikolas, and I heard the nurses talking. You called an ambulance for Zander?

Monica: My, word travels fast.

Gia: What happened?

Monica: Well, he -- he came to the house looking for Emily and he was obviously high on something, I don't know. He collapsed in the den, and I called an ambulance. Obviously, it was an overdose.

Gia: Oh, my God. Will he be all right?

Monica: Well, they pumped his stomach, I think, just in time. But if it happens again --

Gia: What about these restraints?

Monica: Well, they're because he tried to leave the hospital. Something about Emily, a bus station in Mexico, I -- I don't know. He just got violent. It's so sad. I thought he was really turning his life around. He was working for Ned at ELQ. He was staying away from Sonny. I don't know what happened.

Gia: I do.

Ric: Listen, since you're so hell-bent on interrogating me, why don't you let me buy you a cup of coffee.

Elizabeth: You dodging the question?

Ric: Yes or no? Well, we lawyers love to say that.

Elizabeth: Okay, yes, but first I need to know --

Ric: Okay -- no, no, you answered the question. No, thank you. You answered the question. Now, let me ask you something -- why do you think I'm trying to impress Sonny, huh? What, do I seem sinister still to you, like I'm up to something?

Elizabeth: Hmm, what can I say? It's how I think.

Ric: Very good.

Elizabeth: I answered your question, now you answer mine.

Ric: Hmm. Look, I just -- I followed Sonny's career for a very long time. I've studied it, as you well know. I just want to work for him.

Elizabeth: It's just that Sonny's a -- he's a professional criminal.

Ric: Shh. Yeah, I know. I know he's a professional criminal. But what if I can take all of that money and all that power and make it completely legal?

Elizabeth: Oh, so now you're a magician?

Ric: No. Just a very, very good lawyer. Enough cross-examination. Let's go get that coffee.

Gia: Excuse me. Dr. Lewis isn't in his office. Will you page him, please?

Cameron: I'm right here.

Gia: Do you have any idea where your son is? Do you even care? Zander's right here in this hospital strapped to a bed! Do you want to know why? He took a bunch of drugs and went looking for the one person who loves him. And get this, Dr. Lewis -- it wasn't you. But congratulations, anyway, because your patient OD'd after just one session. You must be proud of yourself. What a great psychiatrist you turned out to be, not to mention a first-rate father.

Courtney: Give it back!

Jason: All right. I would --

Courtney: God.

Jason: I would never read your secrets.

Courtney: Yeah, I know.

Jason: But, you know, if you want to tell me something --

Courtney: It's nothing.

Jason: Is it about today?

Courtney: Yeah, I just -- I get scared, that's all.

Jason: Yeah. That's something we'll work out.

Courtney: Yeah, but that tape, it was really bad.

Jason: The tape -- don't worry about that tape, okay. Don't even think about it. Just think about us. We're alone where nobody can get to us.

Courtney: You know, I wrote about that. It's all I want. Except for one thing --

Jason: What?

Courtney: Maybe I shouldn't tell you.

Jason: No, you can tell me. Come on, tell me anything.

Courtney: I -- I don't really know how to say this. Um --

[phone rings]

Courtney: Yeah.

Jason: Yeah? What? Where are you? I'll be right there.

Courtney: What happened?

Jason: Courtney, I'm sorry, I got to go.

Courtney: Okay, well, do you know when you'll be back?

Jason: Yeah, yeah, I'll be back as soon as I can.

Scott: I'm sure you're going to have a good crowd tonight, Sen. Jordan.

Sen. Jordan: Never too soon to start raising money.

Scott: I heard that.

Sen. Jordan: You're doing nice work on the Alcazar murder case. Aren't you glad the new D.A.'s getting the gangsters off the streets?

Scott: Thank you. Hey, may I speak to you for a second, Senator?

Sen. Jordan: Why don't you head on in. I'll be right there. And if you're interested, the bar just opened.

Scott: Thank you.

Sen. Jordan: I appreciate your help in all this.

Scott: Well, you know, it's a sticky situation.

Sen. Jordan: The woman's a career prostitute and she's threatening blackmail.

Scott: Senator, you don't have to explain. After everything you've done for Port Charles, the least I could do was smooth things over for you.

Gia: Take a good long look at what you've done to your son.

Brenda: Oh. I ran all the way here. I'm really not in good shape anymore.

[Brenda coughs]

Brenda: Thank you for being on time.

Jason: Well, why are you wearing those clothes?

Brenda: I had to steal them from pediatrics. I had to escape from the hospital.

Jason: What do you mean, you had to escape from the hospital?

Brenda: I had to escape from the hospital. Now just listen to me. I have something I need to tell you.

Jason: Brenda, you had hypothermia. Why are you wearing that hat?

Brenda: I am aware that I had hypothermia. I say listen, then you ask me questions.

Jason: Okay. Okay, okay. Just go. Go, go.

Brenda: Do you want to hear what I have to say?

Jason: Yes! Go!

Brenda: Scott came to my room and, you know, tried to get me to testify against you again --

Jason: And?

Brenda: And said that the trial could be over in a few days.

Jason: He's bluffing.

Brenda: Is he?

Jason: Yeah, he is. Alexis said she was going to stall the trial.

Brenda: No, no, no. He said that Alexis tried and the judge wouldn't give her a postponement.

Jason: Well, that's Baldwin talking to you. Come on.

Brenda: Who cares if he's lying? Does it really matter? You saw the tape. Right? Jury saw the tape. It doesn't matter. We have to leave. We have to go to Lisbon tonight.

>> On the next "General Hospital" --

Lucky: You're condoning what Jordan did to Laura because she used to be a hooker?

Scott: Nobody beat anybody.

Cameron: I didn't respect my son because he's a coward.

Brenda: You want to have a serious talk about this? This is your only choice.

Alexis: You'll have no trouble finding another attorney who is more than capable of seeing this through.
