>> Previously on "General Hospital" --
Trixie: Luke's headed south, this little town called Perkinsville.
Taggert: Let's see -- charge of murder for the death of Kristina Cassadine, attempted murder for the shooting of Jasper Jacks. You're going away for a very long time.
Brenda: I hate you.
Alcazar: I love you, Brenda.
Skye: Brenda could've been yours for the rest of her life. Why would you risk everything to eliminate the competition?
Lucky: There's no sign of him.
Elizabeth: Ok, I'm going to ask around. Maybe somebody's seen him.
Lucky: Oh, wait. Listen -- if there is any chance my dad is in this hick town, he's here. We just got to wait. Ok? Come here.
Ned: You're up? You're out? What are you doing?
Alexis: I'm on my way to the courthouse.
Ned: Can't you give your deposition against Alcazar right here in the hospital?
Alexis: It would be more effective in person, and I do have permission to leave.
Ned: But why subject yourself to Scott's grandstanding if you don't have to?
Alexis: Because I'm not going to start avoiding Scott at this point, and I was kind of worried that you might start avoiding me after my outburst.
Ned: Can we just agree that your marriage proposal was just a bad idea and leave it at that?
Alexis: If that's what you want.
Ned: What matters today is that the man responsible for the explosion that killed Kristina is going before the grand jury. Alcazar took her away from both of us.
Alexis: My sister died because a man she never met didn't want Brenda Barrett to go back to Sonny.
Scott: Well, that's a nice-looking suit.
Alcazar: I'll give you the name of my tailor.
Scott: How does he do in prison denim?
Alcazar: Is that where I'm going?
Taggert: Yeah, for about 35 years with all the charges against you.
Scott: Well, I don't know. You know, maybe 20, good behavior. Who knows? Your suit might be back in style.
Alcazar: Looks like the whole town's turned out.
Taggert: Yeah, I wonder how that happened. Did somebody leak to the news?
Scott: Not from my office.
Alcazar: I suppose I should be flattered.
Scott: Has Mrs. Morgan checked in yet?
Taggert: Not yet, Scott.
Scott: Well, get somebody on that. I can't do without my star witness. Jason Morgan's wife, they just got married. You'll recognize her right away. She used to be Brenda Barrett.
Sonny: And how much of a delay?
Carly: Hey, Jason. Are you ok?
Jason: Yeah. Why wouldn't I be?
Carly: Well, because you've been married to Brenda for over 24 hours and she spent the night last night.
Jason: She moved in with me. That's what you're supposed to do when you get married.
Carly: Ok. Well, you know what? I was in the hall last night and things seemed awfully quiet coming from your apartment. I thought the two of you would be screaming at each other. Jason, you did an amazing thing marrying Brenda, ok, and I'm completely grateful because now Sonny doesn't have to worry about taking care of her. The woman's insane. Ok, she's a nightmare, she hates your guts, she's going to make your life hell.
Jason: Don't worry.
Carly: Well, of course I'm worried. You hate each other, right? Oh, don't tell me you didn't consummate this marriage, did you?
[Knock on door]
Skye: Brenda. Come on in. Is Jason with you?
Skye: Oh, that's too bad. I really wanted to congratulate the two of you.
Brenda: Oh, well, Jason left for the courthouse with Sonny.
Skye: You didn't go with him?
Brenda: I wanted to stop here first. After what Luis has done to you, I thought maybe you might be having a tough day today.
Jax: Well, you know, I'm more concerned with getting my life back together than dwelling on things I can't control.
Brenda: You always have a healthy attitude.
Skye: Hey, please, pass on my best wishes to Jason. I was so surprised when I heard the two of you eloped, but then I -- it made sense. It's really wonderful that you're so determined to make the most of whatever time you have left and to know that Jason will be there to comfort you through whatever comes. But, hey, sister-in-laws -- who could've ever imagined, huh?
Brenda: I better get to the hearing, so --
Jax: Are you ok?
Brenda: I will be once I know that Luis is going to pay for what he did to you. I'll let you know what happens.
Skye: Oh, don't bother. I'll take care of things.
Skye: Hey, you know what? I think I should find out where they're registered so I can get them a wedding gift. Be right back. Brenda? Hi. We have a few things we need to discuss. Deal's off. I'm going to take my rightful place by my husband's side, so you don't need to worry about taking care of him physically or emotionally.
Brenda: Oh, ok. So you're in charge of what Jax needs?
Skye: It's really the perfect timing when you think about it. You're newly married, you're going to want to concentrate, spend all your time and energy --
Brenda: You know, I have given you every single thing that you wanted. Why are you acting so insecure?
Sonny: Carly, why are you giving him the third degree?
Carly: I'm sorry.
Sonny: I mean, his marriage is none of --
Carly: I was -- I'm just concerned about him, that's all.
Jason: Maybe you need to get a hobby. You have way too much free time.
Scott: As district attorney, my priority is to put away criminals like Alcazar, criminals who've bent the law, who have not been caught for some time because they spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on attorneys that will bend the law for them. Well, I have a message to all those attorneys and all those criminals out there, including Alexis Davis who has made millions of dollars representing Sonny Corinthos. My message is -- the party's over.
Reporter: Ms. Davis, your response?
Alexis: Luis Alcazar is a very dangerous man that needs to be taken off the street. I have confidence that the interim D.A. Can make that happen. Today Mr. Baldwin and I are on the same side.
A.J.: I thought you weren't going to do that anymore.
Courtney: Do -- I'm -- I'm not.
A.J.: Not what?
Courtney: Doing whatever it is I'm not supposed to be doing.
A.J.: Why are you acting so guilty?
Courtney: What are we talking about?
A.J.: I'm not sure. I was just pointing out that it was my turn to do the laundry since you promised that you were going to do a little housework yourself. What are you talking about? Why are you so jumpy?
Courtney: I was just -- I'm just obsessing about something that I -- I -- you know, I promised myself I'd let go.
Courtney: It's nothing, really. It doesn't matter. I'm just being ridiculous.
A.J.: Hiding it is ridiculous. If you don't -- if you don't tell me what's going on, we can't face things together. If we don't have honesty, we have nothing, right?
Alcazar: I understand you married Brenda.
Jason: That's right.
Alcazar: Yeah, you must really love her, enough to cloud your sense of loyalty. Corinthos ordered you to guard her, and you stole her from underneath him?
Jason: Brenda makes her own choices.
Alcazar: Yeah. It's your bad luck she chose you. You should've killed me when you had the chance.
Jason: There's still time.
Alcazar: I supposed this is the one bride I won't get to kiss.
Brenda: I suppose they'll be putting you away forever.
Alcazar: Is that why you married him? Hoping it would protect you from me?
Jason: She'll be fine.
Alcazar: Marrying the bodyguard isn't going to change anything, Brenda. I won't lose you.
Brenda: You're going to prison.
Alcazar: Come on, you know me better than that.
Jason: Hey, get this guy under control. Come on.
Alcazar: Ah, Mr. Corinthos. You've come to see me indicted? Your faith in the criminal justice system is surprising, not to mention a bit naive. Isn't that right, Brenda?
Scott: Excuse me just a second. Just a second.
Ned: Same side or not, you're still nothing but an opportunist.
Scott: My job is to prosecute criminals. If the public likes the way I do it and they want to make me the district attorney, so be it.
Alexis: Can you get an indictment against Alcazar?
Scott: Well, I've got several compelling witnesses against him, including you. Alcazar is not going to walk. Trust me.
Ned: He better be right.
Alexis: I don't know that he can prove Alcazar was behind Kristina's death. At the very least, he can get an indictment against him for shooting Jax.
Carly: Alexis. You're -- you're on the witness list, aren't you?
Alexis: That's correct, Carly.
Carly: So that means you're going to be on the stand and you're going to be under oath, which means you'll have to tell the truth for a change and admit that Sonny had nothing to do with your sister's death and that everything you said at Kristina's funeral was vicious and wrong.
Alexis: What I said about Roy DiLucca was wrong, and for that I apologize. Everything else I said was perfectly justified. My sister died in Sonny's warehouse because of some vendetta between Alcazar and Sonny. So as far as I'm concerned, the two of them are fully responsible for my sister's death.
Carly: Oh, you know what? You can't even tell the truth to yourself, let alone a grand jury. You know what? Kristina would never have been anywhere near that warehouse if you had just told Sonny that you might be carrying his child. You know, Kristina's death is upon your head. So if you're looking for someone to blame, look in the mirror.
Elizabeth: I know it hurts to see your father like this, Lucky, but at least we found him.
Lucky: It wasn't seeing him on some chain gang that got to me. It was about the look in his eye. It was like he didn't even give a damn about what happened to himself anymore.
Elizabeth: He's worried about Laura, he's in prison, he's exhausted --
Lucky: No, he's punishing himself for what happened to my mother.
Elizabeth: Ok, maybe -- maybe you're right. Maybe he does blame himself for trying to break into the clinic --
Lucky: He blames -- he blames himself for everything -- for her condition --
Lucky: For killing Rick Webber.
Elizabeth: Wait. Come here. Look.
Elizabeth: Who are they?
Lucky: I don't know. Visitors? What's the difference?
Elizabeth: Excuse me. Excuse me. Do you mind telling me why you're visiting the prison?
Woman: Conjugal visits today!
Prisoner: Conjugal days are hell on unmarried men.
Luke: Marriage is too high a price to pay for a conjugal visit, my friend. Marriage? 20 years. 20 years of loving and fighting and sacrifice, hope, disappointment. You blink and it's over. It's like it never happened. You're left with nothing but a hole were your life used to be, and there's no reason to start over and no way to go on and you never get back what you lost. Marriage.
Guard: Poe. Conjugal visit, room four.
Luke: No, you got the wrong man. There's nobody here to see me.
Guard: You're married, aren't you? There's a lady waiting on you.
Luke: What lady?
Guard: Says her name's Laura.
Elizabeth: Hi, Luke. Are you ok? Lucky and I have been searching all over the place for you and he's been going out of his mind --
Luke: Go home, Elizabeth.
Elizabeth: Did you hear me? Lucky's here and he's worried --
Luke: I want you to find my son and have a nice trip back to Port Charles. What the hell do you think you're doing?
Elizabeth: Exactly what Laura would want.
Felicia: Excuse me. Sonny, have you heard from Roy?
Sonny: Not directly. My accountant, Benny, spoke with him.
Felicia: How is he?
Sonny: As far as I can tell you, he's doing well. It looks like Miami agrees with him.
Felicia: Scott wanted him to come back here to testify today.
Sonny: Yeah, well, Mr. Baldwin is smart having you testify because you're sympathetic and you didn't shoot anybody.
Alexis: What are you doing here?
Zander: I'm here to testify.
Ned: To what? How do you know Luis Alcazar?
Zander: Well, I saw him and Roy having a meeting and I followed him to his yacht. I snuck onboard and -- well, anyway, a lot of stuff happened, but I -- Scott wants me here because Alcazar threatened to kill me.
Ned: For sneaking on to his yacht?
Zander: No, actually I think it was because I saw Brenda Barrett.
Alexis: Well, Brenda seems to be the motive for all the damage that Alcazar caused.
Monica: I haven't had a chance to congratulate you on your wedding. I hope you're both very happy.
Jason: Yeah, thank you.
Monica: Well, I know Lila wants to have you over for dinner soon.
Brenda: I'll call and I'll set it up with her.
Monica: It'll be nice to see you both.
Brenda: Would it kill you to be nice to your mother?
Jason: I thanked her.
Brenda: She wanted you to say that you were going to come over for dinner.
Jason: Well, you said it for both of us. Did it ever occur to you to ask me if I wanted to go?
Brenda: No, no, because you don't.
Jason: You're right.
Brenda: But you're going to.
Jason: No, I'm not.
Brenda: You agreed to marry me.
Jason: I agreed to take care of you if you lose your mind.
Brenda: We have to act like this is real in public, otherwise, what's the point? The Quartermaines have been really great to me. The least I can do is bring my husband over to dinner.
Jason: Forget it.
Brenda: Fine. You can call Lila and tell her we're not coming.
Jason: Oh, come on.
Brenda: See you at dinner.
Skye: Jax, is this ok if we stop around here?
Jax: It's fine, yeah.
Alcazar: Could've done better to stick to rehab this morning. I'm afraid you'll find this unfulfilling.
Jax: I wouldn't miss this for the world.
Jax: You made a serious miscalculation. You risked everything and you lost.
Bailiff: All rise. This hearing is now in session.
Judge: This hearing has been convened to examine the evidence concerning the alleged offenses and misconduct of Luis Alcazar, whether criminal or otherwise, and to take action with respect to such evidence. Mr. Baldwin, you may begin.
Scott: I call Monica Quartermaine to the stand.
Monica: I was taken to a cabin where I found Mr. Alcazar suffering from a gunshot wound.
Scott: Was Mr. Alcazar conscious?
Monica: Yes, he was.
Scott: Did he say anything to you?
Monica: Yes. He said he wanted to have the bullet removed and if I let him die, he would have one of his henchmen kill me.
Felicia: He held me in his apartment at gunpoint.
Scott: Mr. Alcazar join you there?
Felicia: He did.
Scott: Did he give you any reasons why he abducted you?
Felicia: He was using me as leverage to force Roy DiLucca to murder Sonny Corinthos.
Scott: So he admitted to you that he conspired to commit murder?
Felicia: Yes. In fact, his exact words were "I'm going to a lot of trouble and expense to have Sonny killed."
Taggert: The plastic was manufactured in the former soviet union. The detonator and the remote trigger were German made.
Scott: Who would have access to weapons like this?
Taggert: An arms dealer.
Scott: Like Mr. Alcazar?
Taggert: Yes, sir.
Scott: If Mr. Alcazar set the bomb, did he intend to kill Kristina Cassadine?
Taggert: The explosion was triggered with a remote detonator with a limited range, probably no farther than the street. Whoever triggered the explosion not only saw Kristina Cassadine enter the warehouse, he knew she was going to die.
Alexis: My sister went to Sonny's warehouse looking for him. She was alone in the warehouse when the bomb that Mr. Alcazar planted went off. I confronted Mr. Alcazar in the hospital and I told him that he murdered my sister.
Zander: He wanted to know everything I told his girlfriend about Jasper Jacks and Sonny Corinthos.
Scott: Did Mr. Alcazar refer to his girlfriend by name? Is she here in the courtroom?
Zander: Yes. Yes, she is. That's her -- Brenda Barrett.
Scott: Did he say anything else to you?
Zander: Yes, he said he wanted to kill me.
Scott: Why is that?
Zander: He didn't want me to tell anybody about Brenda.
Brenda: And I told him that Luis had tried to shoot him at the church during his wedding and I warned him he was going to try again. And I told him he should take his wife and they should leave the country. But they didn't.
Brenda: Well, I suppose he thought they were safe here. I was getting ready to leave town myself when Luis showed up.
Scott: Was Mr. Alcazar armed?
Brenda: Yes, he was.
Scott: Was Mr. Jacks armed?
Brenda: No, he wasn't. Luis was less than five feet away when he shot Jax in the stomach, and then he told me he was going to let him bleed to death.
Scott: Is there a possibility Mr. Alcazar was acting out of self-defense?
Brenda: Well, how would that be if Luis had a gun and Jax didn't? He shot Jax in the stomach. He didn't care afterwards. If you look at him now, he doesn't care now. He is a murderer, and I hope somebody murders him.
Luke: Please don't talk about Laura. Go away.
Elizabeth: I can't leave you here, Luke, not after the way you've helped me. Do you remember when we thought Lucky was gone and I thought that I could never hope or smile or believe in anything ever again? Well, you understood and you told me to go on, and now I am telling you that miracles can happen and Laura can get better.
Luke: Stop it.
Elizabeth: She --
Luke: Stop it! I'm here because I want to be. Now you find my son, you tell him that. And the two of you go back to Port Charles.
Elizabeth: He's not going to listen to me, Luke, no matter what.
Luke: Well, you make him listen. Make him! He can't get involved in this or he'll end up in some hole like this.
Elizabeth: We're not giving up. We're going to get you out of here.
Luke: Elizabeth, I'm in here on a felony -- assault. I had a little disagreement with a guy in a bar. I kicked him a little too hard and broke his jaw. Turns out he was the governor's nephew. Who knew?
Elizabeth: Ok. We'll handle it. We'll handle it, just like we're going to handle everything that's going on back home.
Luke: Don't -- don't do me any favors.
Elizabeth: Alexis knows you confessed to protect Laura. We all do. The election's in a few days and when she's in office --
Luke: I don't want Alexis' help! I don't want your help! And I don't want Lucky's help, damn it! Everybody just leave me alone! Just -- just go away! Guard!
Elizabeth: You have a family, Luke, people who love you.
Elizabeth: How can you just throw the rest of your life away?
Luke: Please get her out of here.
Elizabeth: No. Luke -- Luke, please. Please -- please don't do this.
Scott: The state seeks to indict Luis alcazar on the following charges -- one count of murder in the first degree in the death of Kristina Cassadine. Three counts of attempted murder. Five separate accounts of kidnapping. The government also charges solicitation, conspiracy, and lesser-included offenses, all of which are included in the state's brief.
Man: Mr. Baldwin, there's a government official who needs to see you immediately.
Scott: What, are you crazy?
Man: He's outside in the hall.
Scott: Get out of here, I'm busy.
Man: He's got -- he's got more credentials than I have campaign buttons.
Scott: I'm in the middle of a hearing here.
Judge: A problem, Mr. Baldwin?
Scott: Uh, your honor, something requires my immediate attention. Um, could I beg the court for a couple minutes?
Judge: You have 90 seconds, Mr. Baldwin.
Scott: Thank you.
Scott: Where's the guy?
Man: He's right here, Mr. B.
Scott: Well, this better be important.
Man: It's pivotal to your case.
Scott: What is this?
Prisoner: So who was the mystery lady?
Luke: She wasn't here to see me, she made a mistake.
Prisoner: She good-looking?
Luke: What difference does it make? She wasn't here to see me.
prisoner: Look at that. Fresh meat.
Second prisoner: We got us a new fish, boys. Fishy better watch where he's going.
Lucky: I don't want no trouble.
Prisoner: Then you owe me an apology, boy.
Lucky: Why don't you just back off?
Prisoner: You're dissing my friend, little fish? Oh, man, you hadn't ought have done that.
Luke: Hey! You heard the kid -- back off! This one's mine.
Lucky: I know what you're trying to do. You're trying to blame yourself for everything that happened to Mom.
Luke: You know nothing!
Luke: I told you to stay out of this -- didn't I tell you? -- But you couldn't do it. You couldn't do it!
Lucky: "Hey, Lucky, thanks for showing up to bail my sorry butt out of here. Here's a punch in the jaw for all your trouble."
Luke: All I'm trying to do is keep you from getting your brains handed to you in a tin cup or worse. Now, they're watching, come on. Let's do it right. Give me a good one. Give me your best shot. Come on, come on, come on.
Luke: Come on.
Courtney: I know I shouldn't let it bother me. The stalker hasn't even called since -- since you guys fought. You know, I think that you scared him off.
A.J.: I'm not going to let anything happen to you.
Courtney: I know. I told Jason that you'd take care of everything.
A.J.: Jason's been checking up on you?
Courtney: He came into Kelly's and he had a cup of coffee. He got married.
A.J.: Get out.
Courtney: No, Jason married Brenda Barrett.
A.J.: Oh, no, no, no. You -- you must've heard wrong.
Courtney: They eloped to Las Vegas.
A.J.: Jason and Brenda?
A.J.: That's bizarre.
A.J.: Well, Brenda hates Jason. She loves -- she loves Jax -- at least she did. And when she wasn't in love with Jax, she was in love with Sonny.
Courtney: Well, they're both married, and she's sick. Maybe she just didn't want to be alone.
A.J.: Why would Brenda choose Jason to nurse her back from a fatal illness? Why would Jason do it? Ah, forget it. Who knows why Jason does what he does? One thing's for sure -- the family must be over the moon right now. I'm sure they think that Brenda's going to bring Jason back to the family.
Courtney: And what if she does? Would that bother you if your family was close with Jason?
A.J.: You know what? Forget Jason. All I care about is you. You're my family. Sometimes I can't believe that -- that I've found you and you love me.
Courtney: Well, believe it.
Courtney: Yeah. I do love you, A.J., And I always will.
Sonny: Looks like Alcazar called in a favor.
Jason: Do you know what this is?
Brenda: No, I don't. What, is he going to walk?
Judge: I sincerely hope, Mr. Baldwin, you have a good reason for interrupting these proceedings.
Scott: Your honor, the state moves to drop all charges against Alcazar.
judge: Order, order.
[Judge pounds gavel]
judge: Order in the court. Order! If you don't show just cause for this outrageous reversal, you'll be held personally liable for all costs attendant to these proceedings. And your office will be looking at a contempt charge for malicious abuse of process. Do you hear me?
Scott: Your honor, may I approach the bench?
Judge: Yes, you -- yes, you may.
Judge: Under the circumstances, my hands are tied. I'm compelled to dismiss all charges against Luis Alcazar.
judge: Marshal, the prisoner's released. Luis Alcazar, you're a free man.
Brenda: Wait -- wait a minute!
Lucky: No. No, there's no way I'm hitting you.
Luke: Don't be an idiot. They're all watching. You got to make this look real. Come on, come on.
Lucky: For your satisfaction? Forget it!
Luke: I didn't ask you to come here, did I? You've gone and stuck your nose in somewhere it doesn't belong again and now I'm going to have to get you out of another mess!
Lucky: No, I think you got it backwards, Dad. I'm here to save you.
Luke: You save yourself, son.
Lucky: No. You tried to get Mom out of there. She would've done the same thing for you. She would've got you out of that mess and she would've understood.
Luke: She can't understand! Don't you get it? She can't hear. You can't get through to her. She's gone.
Lucky: No, you tried to bring her back. And when she's ready, you'll bring her back. Now, if there's anybody who can do that, Dad, and anybody who could help Mom, that's you, so don't give up. Now, I'm going to get you out of here. I'm going to take you to Alexis and we're going to get the conviction overturned!
Luke: No, you stop it! Oh! Just stop it! You cannot change this. Your mother is gone and so am I. Now, why can't you just let it rest?
Lucky: Because I love you, Dad.
Luke: I got no love to give you back, son.
reporter: Mr. Baldwin --
second reporter: Hey --
Scott: Yes? Yes?
Reporter: Mr. Baldwin, why did you let the defendant go?
Second reporter: Why did you drop the charges?
Scott: It's a government issue I'm not at liberty to discuss right now, so we're just going to have to leave it at that. Ok?
Alexis: Someone made you a deal and you took it.
Scott: My hands are tied.
Alexis: He murdered my sister, he shot Jax. He needs to be punished -- that's the law. That's your job -- to see that justice is served. Where's my sister's justice? Where's the punishment for taking her life?
Sonny: Give my regards to your friends at the state department.
Scott: Ms. Davis is obviously upset here. She lost a sister, but the law cannot be used as an instrument for revenge. She has suffered quite a loss as well as other people. I personally wish that there was something I could do, but, however, my hands are tied at this moment. So, that's all I'm --
Alcazar: Excuse me. As district attorney, I'm directing this request to you. I want a police escort out of here.
Scott: Oh, you're out of your mind.
Alcazar: This was left for me in the courtroom.
Scott: As Acting District Attorney, I guess I have an obligation to give you a police escort. It appears that someone here has threatened Mr. Alcazar's life.
>> On the next "General Hospital" --
Sonny: Trick or treat!
Carly: Trick or treat!
Felicia: Oh, my goodness!
A.J.: Are you sure you want to do this?
Nikolas: To Alexis' victory.
Monica: Why did you let the man go?
Scott: He's got friends in high places.
