General Hospital Transcript Tuesday 10/18/02
>> Previously on "General Hospital" --
Courtney: I'm still being stalked. Jason's just trying to catch the guy.
Jax: If Skye thinks that I've turned to another woman, then she'll leave me.
Scott: You did sleep with Sonny.
Alexis: You're a pig.
Edward: Alexis isn't carrying your child.
Carly: It's not Ned's baby, Sonny, it's yours.
Jax: Kiss me. Come on, just do it.
Brenda: I got to go.
Jax: Brenda, don't leave me.
Elizabeth: Your family isn't destroyed, Lucky. It never will be, because you are the most amazing combination of both of your parents. You have Laura's hope, your dad's resourcefulness. Her compassion, his humor. No matter what, your family survives in you. As far as being able to stop a freight train that was already in motion before you were born, well, I've hoped you learned how impossible that is and that you can't blame yourself. You'll get through this, Lucky, and my money's on Luke and Laura, as well.
Lucky: Thank you.
Courtney: Come back here!
Scott: I hit the nail on the head when I announced that you slept with Corinthos.
Alexis: You made a jackass out of yourself, is what you did.
Scott: No, you froze. And you tried to cover, which is what you're doing now. You know what? You would think that you would be a much better liar.
Alexis: Do you ever get tired of hearing yourself talk?
Scott: See, Corinthos came waltzing in here and saved you. He did you a favor. You know, let's not get too confident here. You may have won the first round, but in the world of organized crime, favors -- they translate into some kind of a payment. You know what I mean?
Alexis: No, I don't, actually, know what you mean.
Scott: Well, I'm going to tell you. It's a get-out-of-jail-free card for Corinthos.
Alexis: I'm beholden to no one but the voters. They'll be the ones who have gotten me in office. If Sonny Corinthos acts out criminally, he will be prosecuted just like everyone else.
Scott: No, you're in his pocket. In his dirty, filthy little pocket.
Ned: Reaching, grandfather. I'm devoted to this child. I'm the father.
Edward: Mm-hmm. So you keep insisting. Mm-hmm.
Ned: Unlike you, I don't view my children as property.
Edward: You know, it's no wonder that our family was so shocked and amazed when Kristina told us about your impending parenthood. And just to think it was all fiction.
Ned: You're delusional.
Edward: You know, I think about poor Alexis, seduced and abandoned with child, and not even by just a married man. Oh, no. By the married mob kingpin of port Charles.
Sonny: I went to Alexis the first minute I found out she was pregnant. I asked her point-blank if I was the father, and she said I was not.
Carly: She lied.
Sonny: Ned was there. He came out of the kitchen. He heard the discussion. He said --
Carly: He lied.
Sonny: Well, how do you know?
Carly: Because Alexis told me she was pregnant and that you were the father.
Sonny: When? When did Alexis tell you this baby's mine?
Ned: So which is your favorite part, grandfather? Tearing into Alexis, a woman who's obviously too strong for you to control, or trying to goad me into dragging her to the altar by the hair?
Edward: No, no, no, no. I gave up on that.
Ned: Oh. So it's the child, is it? You're out to sabotage the child before she's even born. You know, usually, you save your emotional abuse until the child has at least drawn its first breath. Oh, actually, no, that's not true. There was Skye, of course, who you rejected in the womb. Perhaps you're going for a repeat performance.
Edward: Oh, ho-ho-ho-ho. Bravo, Ned, bravo. You're getting it. You see, the best defense is a very strong offense -- as every good Quartermaine knows -- and I'm glad to see you haven't lost your touch.
Ned: It's called anger, and I am disgusted by your accusations.
Edward: But be honest though, even you don't have it in you to destroy a woman by using her own sister.
Ned: I will always regret the way I hurt Kristina, and don't you ever throw that in my face again. And never imply that I am not fully committed to my child.
Edward: You and Kristina were infatuated, but here was poor Alexis moaning over Sonny, who was separated from his wife at the time. And Sonny and Alexis lived within a stone's throw of each other, they saw each other constantly. It was obvious what happened.
Ned: You have no idea what you're talking about. In fact, you should shut up before you embarrass yourself.
Edward: Ned, the thing that I don't understand is what possible strategic advantage you could gain from raising Sonny's child.
Carly: I already told you that I snuck a look at Alexis' medical file.
Sonny: You saw she was pregnant?
Carly: Yes. And no father was listed, so I assumed that the baby was yours.
Sonny: I'm not interested in assumptions. I want facts.
Carly: Alexis and I got into an argument. I assumed you were the father of her baby, and so I accused her of keeping secrets of her own.
Sonny: Why would she tell you, Carly?
Carly: Because she could tell that I already knew. Look, all of a sudden she just blurted out, "you can't tell Sonny. He can never find out."
Sonny: When did this happen?
Carly: The night that you and Jason rescued Elizabeth from the crypt.
Sonny: Months ago?
Elizabeth: Hey! Hi.
Elizabeth: That's all right.
Courtney: We didn't know anyone else was here.
Lucky: Oh, that's no problem.
Elizabeth: She's cute!
Courtney: Yeah, and friendly.
Lucky: How old is she?
Courtney: 9 months.
Courtney: She's learned how to sit and stay, but, as you can see, we're still working on "come."
Jason: You know what? We better go.
Elizabeth: Bye, Rosie!
Lucky: Bye. I'll see you guys.
Courtney: Can we just get real, please? I mean, we're standing around making small talk about my dog when the whole time Elizabeth is wondering what Jason is doing with me. So I'll tell you.
Elizabeth: What you and Jason do is none of my business.
Courtney: Jason and I are together because I'm scared. Ok, this stalker is real. He has broken into my apartment at least twice. I'm afraid to be alone. I know that -- that he could be hiding in some corner or -- or waiting for me under some -- a stairwell. Jason's just protecting me until we catch him.
Jason: Ok, let's go.
Courtney: God, we're just friends, that's all. We're not covering for something else. Jason cares about you, Elizabeth.
Jason: Ok, that's enough, Courtney.
Courtney: But you and Elizabeth are barely speaking. It just doesn't make sense.
Elizabeth: You know what? Thank you, Courtney, for trying, but I'm fine, really. Do what you need to do. It's not a problem for me and it obviously isn't a problem for Jason, either.
Jason: Let's go.
Courtney: Can we just -- I don't get it.
Elizabeth: There's nothing to get.
Lucky: The way I see it, you know, Courtney was just being honest. Why weren't you?
Jax: Nothing has changed between us.
Brenda: Shut up.
Jax: It's true. From the moment I saw you, it all came back. And I never want you to leave me again.
Brenda: God, this isn't happening.
Jax: Brenda, I trust my instincts. Ok? I need you more than ever. She's gone.
Brenda: Good. You broke her heart. Can I go?
Jax: Why didn't you stick with the plan?
Brenda: What do you mean, why didn't I stick with the plan? This is your brilliant plan for me to kiss you and lie to her?
Jax: What's wrong with that?
Brenda: And you don't know why I didn't do it, right?
Jax: I already explained to you -- this is the only way that Skye --
Brenda: You are not the man that I used to love.
Jax: No, you're right. I'm not the man you used to love, or the man Skye thinks she loves. That man flew his own planes, he skied, he hiked, he sailed around the world.
Brenda: Oh, right. Right.
Jax: And one very important detail -- he had use of his legs.
Brenda: Well, guess what, Jax. Life doesn't always turn out the way you think it's supposed to. You know, you didn't used to hurt people and play with their feelings and then claim it was for their own good!
Jax: Skye will get over it. She deserves better.
Brenda: Yeah, well, maybe she does.
Jax: I'm just trying to deal with the reality --
Brenda: You know, the man that I used to love had the courage to reach out to the people that he cared about, and he never would have rolled up in a ball and nursed on his own defeat!
Jax: It's not defeat. I've only -- I've been defeated once in my life --
Brenda: Oh, really? When? When? When?
Jax: When I thought that you were lying at the bottom of the sea drowned because I couldn't get there in time. Do you have any idea what that felt like for me? The years of emptiness --
Jax: Or barely existing?
Brenda: Wait, wait, wait. Did you see this?
Jax: Ok, that's nothing compared to your fake death, ok? It's not defeat.
Brenda: Would you shut up? I think you just moved your foot!
Jax: I'm going to pull myself out of this, as well!
Brenda: I think you just moved your foot.
Brenda: Did you feel that?
Courtney: I'm hungry. I think maybe I'll make a sandwich. You want one? "Yes, Courtney," "no, Courtney"?
Jason: No, thanks.
Courtney: At last. Those were the first words you've spoken since we left Elizabeth.
Jason: I don't talk when I have nothing to say.
Courtney: You have plenty to say. You just don't feel like expressing it.
Jason: Can we leave this alone?
Courtney: You're not speaking because you're mad at me for pushing this. You also expect people to -- to pick up on what you're thinking when you don't give the slightest bit of effort. But relationships, they don't work that way. You have to tell the person how you feel. They don't just get it telepathically.
Jason: You don't need to explain to me how I feel.
Courtney: Am I wrong? You don't care about Elizabeth? This doesn't matter to you?
Jason: Of course it matters. Elizabeth matters, but this isn't helping.
Courtney: Do something about it, Jason. Go see her and make things right.
Elizabeth: I'm not holding anything back.
Lucky: Are you sure?
Elizabeth: There's nothing going on between me and Jason.
Lucky: Elizabeth --
Elizabeth: All right. Yeah, there was, sort of. A couple of times we almost started something, but we didn't. And it's a good thing because Jason's life is completely different from mine and it would never work.
Lucky: And you're ok with that?
Elizabeth: Yeah. Yeah, absolutely. Jason and I, we would have -- we would have just been a huge mistake. It's done. It's over. I'm fine. I'm fine.
Lucky: You're fine? That's it? That's all you feel?
Ned: "Strategic advantage" and "unborn child" -- you see, only you could make that connection.
Edward: Now, you must have some motive, Ned. Come on, tell me. What is it?
Ned: How about avoiding the damage that you have wreaked on your children and grandchildren?
Edward: You know, young man, you should be worrying about how hard Alexis is working. Instead, you're pushing for her to win this whole district attorney thing. Oh, of course. Of course. It's perfectly clear now. Why would you care about the health of the child that was sired by Sonny Corinthos?
Ned: How do you live with yourself?
Edward: Ned, you have always married very compulsively, you know. But not to Alexis, the mother of your child, huh? Oh, of course. Now, why would you want to waste the good Ashton name on a gangster's illegitimate spawn?
Ned: Don't poison my child by using Sonny's name in the same sentence.
Edward: Oh, that's good, Ned. That's the proud-father act!
Ned: Look, if you continue with this madness and if you insist on whispering this lie to anyone else, I will not let you get within 50 feet of my child! Do you hear me?
Edward: Oh, is that so?
Ned: Yes, that's so!
Edward: You know, Ned, your passionate response is really illuminating. Yes! Ha-ha! Oh, it is. Oh-ho.
Sonny: You lied again. I mean, I don't --
Carly: I --
sonny: When we got back together on the island, we discussed honesty. We agreed that never was going to happen.
Carly: I told you I couldn't promise not to lie again.
Sonny: Right. Right.
Carly: It wasn't my secret to tell. It was Alexis'.
Sonny: You despise Alexis!
Carly: Sonny, when I got pregnant by A.J. And I decided that he should never know, I thought that was my right. Ok? And Robin, she went ahead and violated it and I -- you know what? I wasn't going to do that to another mother.
Sonny: You're comparing me to A.J.? Is that what you're doing?
Carly: No, Sonny. I am not -- I would never do that, Sonny. I am saying I didn't want to be a hypocrite. I still believe that every mother has a right to protect her child the way she sees fit, even Alexis.
Sonny: You knew the truth before I even found out Alexis was pregnant. I was going to go ask her if the baby was mine. You pretended you didn't know, but you did. You knew the baby was mine and you lied!
Carly: Do you have any idea how much I wanted to tell you?
Sonny: Oh, please.
Carly: I wanted to tell you so much. I went to Alexis and I begged her to tell you herself. You have any idea how that hurt me, Sonny? Going to a woman that I hate and asking her to tell you the baby she's carrying, the one that I can't give you, is yours? A baby that you fathered in a one-night stand? You know what, Sonny? It almost killed me. But I did it anyway because I love you and I thought that you should know your child. Alexis is the one who refused.
Sonny: But you let it go. You didn't come to me, your own husband, and tell me the truth about my own child!
Carly: I am telling you now! The baby isn't born yet!
Sonny: Oh, so that makes everything ok? That you tell me right now?
Carly: What makes that ok is you getting her pregnant in the first place!
Sonny: We're going back to that again, are we?
Carly: Oh, I'm not supposed to have feelings about this?
Sonny: Well --
Carly: Why am I supposed to be so sore? You know what? I don't want to fight with you. I don't want to ever have secrets from you again, ok? So, please -- you please listen to me. After I went to Alexis and I asked her to tell you about the baby, she wrote you a letter, and she chickened out. But Kristina found the letter.
Sonny: Kristina? What does Kristina have to do with anything?
Carly: Kristina came to tell you about the baby, and then she went off to look for you at the warehouse.
Sonny: Oh, so you didn't want Kristina to tell me? Is that what you're saying?
Carly: No, it wasn't her place to tell you.
Sonny: What do you mean, it wasn't my place?
Carly: It wasn't her place, it was Alexis'! Sonny, I am not the reason Kristina died -- though, I wish she had stayed here -- and you aren't, either. Alexis is. She killed her sister with her own lies, and then she blamed Kristina's death on you. It was, what, a curse on your head. Isn't that what she said? A hex on your life and mine, too?
Sonny: I don't care about Alexis anymore! She doesn't mean anything to me! She has no faith, no loyalty! But she's not my wife! You are! And you keep lying to me --
Carly: I didn't lie to you!
Sonny: Over and over, you keep lying to me!
Carly: I am telling you right now! Who is telling you about this baby?
[Knock on door]
Carly: Sonny, you better send those people away. I don't care who it is. Send them away.
Sonny: I am going to send them away. Actually.
Alexis: May I come in?
Sonny: Yeah, sure.
Alexis: There is something that I think you should know.
Sonny: What's that?
Alexis: You saved me through your intervention from an enormous embarrassment today. I won the debate because you both claimed that we had never had a liaison. You lied, she lied, I lied -- we all lied. My reasons are obvious, yours aren't, and yet I have no need to be enlightened. Why Carly signed the affidavit in the first place will always remain a mystery to me.
Carly: I told you and everybody else in that room that Scott was threatening to take Michael from me.
Alexis: Carly, I'm not interested in the truth. I'm not interested in the untruth. Suffice it to say that it's over.
Sonny: You're welcome.
Alexis: No thanks intended. You chose to clear my name --
Alexis: But there can be no quid pro quo. No favors granted, no gifts of gratitude.
Sonny: All right.
Alexis: If I'm elected district attorney, I fully intend to go after organized crime. If you do anything to step outside the bounds of the law, I will prosecute you. You did me a favor. I came to tell you that that favor cannot be repaid.
Sonny: Didn't you just declare war on me?
Elizabeth: Jason lied to me about Sonny being dead. He could have trusted me, but he didn't.
Lucky: Well, mobsters aren't really known for confiding in people.
Elizabeth: Yeah, but if he can't trust me, how am I supposed to be able to trust him? He won't even try to explain. And now he's spending all this time with Courtney?
Lucky: Don't you believe that Courtney's being stalked?
Elizabeth: Yes, I -- I do, but Jason doesn't have to be guarding her personally. I mean, Sonny has lots of guards. He could put one at her door and have her watched until this guy is caught.
Lucky: Well, maybe Jason feels that he can do it best.
Elizabeth: He left me with a guard at the door. I was perfectly safe. I was lonely, but safe.
Lucky: So you think it is about Courtney, then, huh?
Elizabeth: I don't know. I don't know. Maybe Courtney's just an excuse to pull away. But, you know, I don't really care anymore. I shouldn't have to fight to turn myself into someone he can be with. I shouldn't have to do that.
Lucky: You're right. You're right. You showed him. You've already fought too long to have love that you deserve. And that's my fault.
Elizabeth: No, lucky, no --
Lucky: Elizabeth, no, I was hanging on --
Elizabeth: It's nobody's fault. You did the best you could and so did I. When we ended, it hurt. It hurt for a while. But the hurt, it -- it went away and --
Lucky: But what?
Elizabeth: The last thing I need is to get hurt again.
Jason: You know, it's never been right between me and Elizabeth. Now everything's great when nothing's going on, and, I mean, we really connect when we're alone. But that's not real life.
Courtney: Sure, it is.
Jason: No, real life is obligations and responsibilities. My work is dangerous. I deal with a lot of serious people, near death all around me, and Elizabeth doesn't need it.
Courtney: Elizabeth knows what your job is and she obviously still cares about you.
Jason: If she chose to be with me, she would regret it. Not right away, but eventually she would.
Courtney: You're making assumptions.
Jason: No, I'm not. I know Elizabeth. And I know that she's been hurt a lot and she deserves to be happy.
Courtney: What about you?
Jason: I'll be fine.
Courtney: I know, but what about your happiness? What do you want, Jason? [Phone rings]
nurse: Mrs. Jacks? A message came in for you.
Skye: Oh. What now?
Nurse: Your in-laws are on their way from the airport.
Second nurse: Page Dr. Caldwell right away.
Skye: Wait, wait, wait, wait. Dr. Caldwell is one of my husband's doctors. Is something wrong?
Nurse: No, Mr. Jacks has some movement in his foot.
[Jax and Brenda laugh]
Brenda: See, I'm not going to be sweet and passive anymore. I need to be tough again.
Jax: Will you promise?
Brenda: Yes. I'm sick of tiptoeing around here.
Brenda: I'm going to wake up every nerve in your body.
Jax: I can hardly wait.
Brenda: Oh, it's so good.
Jax: Look at that. It's just moving.
Brenda: How do you feel?
Jax: It's good.
Dr. Caldwell: I understand there's some good news.
Brenda: Oh, yes. Good news.
Jax: Could we get a drum roll, please, for the doctor?
Brenda: Yes. That's good, right?
Dr. Caldwell: Excellent.
Dr. Caldwell: Excellent. Can you move your toes? Can you feel this?
Dr. Caldwell: This?
Dr. Caldwell: The movement and sensation you're having are very good signs. A full regimen of physical therapy, you may be able to recover full use of your legs.
Jax: No, not "may." I will.
Brenda: Yes. He's a fighter.
Dr. Caldwell: Do you remember what you did when you moved your foot?
Jax: Well -- well, as the lady said, I'm a fighter.
Dr. Caldwell: Well, keep it up, and repeat it as often as possible.
Jax: We will.
Dr. Caldwell: Call me if there's any more changes.
Jax: All right, thanks, doctor.
Brenda: Thank you.
Jax: Thank you.
Brenda: For what?
Jax: Just hanging around this hospital room, taking care of me.
Brenda: Well, anytime. I better go.
Jax: So soon?
Brenda: You didn't know I was magic, huh? Oh, you know I'm good at being a witch and my broomstick is double-parked. So --
Jax: Yeah, physical therapy daily at 2:00, that sounds fine. Yeah, I'm aware the sessions are going to be difficult, yeah. Right. Ok, well, we'll see you tomorrow, 2:00.
Jax: Mom, dad.
John: We came as soon as we could.
Jane: How are you feeling?
Jax: Actually, I'm feeling pretty good.
John: Oh, you'll come back from this, son. You'll take it head-on and you'll win.
Jax: Well, your timing couldn't be better because we've had some progress. Look at my foot right there.
Jane: Oh -- oh, this is wonderful!
Jax: I know.
John: We were told you had no sensations in your legs at all.
Jax: Well, this just happened, like, just a little while ago.
Jane: Well, were you in physical therapy when it happened?
Jax: No. I haven't even met my physical therapist yet. I was just making an appointment with him.
John: You did it on your own?
Jax: No, I had some help.
Jane: The power of love, I take it? Thank goodness for Skye.
Jax: It wasn't Skye.
John: Huh? Then who?
Jax: It was Brenda.
Skye: Hey, hey.
Brenda: Did you hear the great news? Jax moved his foot.
Skye: Yeah, I know. I was watching from the doorway.
Brenda: Oh. Oh, god, we didn't even see you. We were so caught up in the excitement of the moment, so --
Skye: It was really amazing.
Brenda: Yeah, you should go see him.
Skye: I will, in a bit.
Brenda: Great. Well, I got to go, so give him my best.
Skye: You know, I watched from the doorway for a while, and I listened as my husband said he needed you more than ever.
Brenda: It's not what you think.
Skye: And you don't know what I think. See, you know very little about me.
Brenda: Yes, that's true.
Skye: But I do know a few things about you after today.
Brenda: Listen, nothing is the way that it looks, ok?
Skye: You know, my husband is so convinced that he needs to cut me free from a life that I never signed up for that he staged an entire romantic scene with you, complete with longing looks and declarations of devotion. And then when he was absolutely sure I was listening, he played it to the hilt.
Brenda: Yes. I'm glad that you know.
Skye: And, you know, I might have actually bought it if you had kissed him, but at the very last moment you pulled away.
Brenda: Yeah, it wasn't a good idea, so I couldn't go through with it.
Skye: Then I finally figured out what must be behind all the pretending.
Brenda: I really do have to go.
Skye: Aren't you curious at all as to what my insight might be?
Brenda: You know what? I'm too tired for your insights right now.
Skye: I think that if you started kissing Jax, you wouldn't have been able to stop.
Brenda: Well, that's a fascinating theory --
Skye: You're still in love with him, Brenda, aren't you? After all these years away from him, your feelings haven't diminished at all, have they?
Brenda: You should go back to your husband.
Skye: You still want him. You can't help yourself. The look on your face said it all.
Brenda: Listen, he's cute.
Skye: The memories are still vivid for you, aren't they?
Brenda: He married you, and I am happy for him, ok?
Skye: But your heart is breaking, isn't it? You wish you could be with him.
Brenda: I am not with him, you're with him.
Skye: Oh, admit it, Brenda. Nothing's changed for you.
Brenda: Ok, yes, I admit it. I do love him.
Courtney: Rosie's in her crate. What happened? Did you see the stalker?
Jason: No, no, no, it's ok. This is for you to protect yourself.
Courtney: I thought that was supposed to be your job.
Jason: Well, it's just a precaution, because sometimes things can go wrong. All right. This is an automatic pistol. Ok? Now it's loaded. There's 10 bullets in a clip. All you have to do is aim and pull the trigger.
Courtney: I don't know if I can.
Jason: The safety's on. Go ahead, you can hold it. There you go.
Courtney: It's heavy.
Jason: Yeah. Hopefully you'll never have to use it. I just want you to have it just in case. You need to put it somewhere that you can get to it easily.
Courtney: Are you sure that I really need this?
Jason: Someone's stalking you, and they seem to be a step ahead of us. They've already been in here twice. You need to be able to defend yourself. Where are you going?
Courtney: Well, I'm going to put this where I can find it but I don't have to look at it.
Jason: Ok, well, put it somewhere you can get to it fast.
Courtney: It is.
Jason: I'm sorry. I wish this wasn't necessary. I really want to get rid of this guy for you.
Courtney: You will. I know that. You're such a good guy, Jason. Why don't you think you deserve to be happy?
Jason: Oh, come -- we're not getting back to this, Courtney.
Courtney: Why? If you can help me, why can't I help you? You're making the same mistake I did. I made all these choices for A.J., Things that I thought he could handle and that he couldn't. I kept things from him thinking that I was protecting him from getting hurt. I worked at the Oasis, I paid off his debts, I lied to him about where I was.
Jason: You thought you had good reasons to.
Courtney: But it blew up in my face, and it will in yours, too. When you keep things from the people that you love, you only end up hurting them, which is exactly what you try to avoid in the first place. Would you listen to me? I am a total hypocrite.
Alexis: "War" is a relative term. To some it means courtroom combat. To others it means bullet holes and body counts.
Sonny: Was that a yes or a no?
Alexis: I closed my eyes to the violent side of your business for a long time. I've taken the blinders off. I've come here to give you fair warning. As district attorney, I intend to dismantle your criminal empire until there is nothing left standing.
Sonny: Hmm. Strong words.
Alexis: Alexis Davis.
Ned: Hi. It's me. I need to see you right away. Where are you? I'll come to you.
Alexis: Meet me at the P.C. Hotel. I left the document there.
Sonny: Alexis? Is there anything else I should know?
Alexis: No. I think that covers it.
Sonny: Ok. There's something I think you need to hear, ok? I will never let you take anything that's mine.
Carly: I can't believe you ever trusted her.
Sonny: I can't believe I trusted you.
Elizabeth: And order anything you want. It's my treat.
Lucky: Thank you. You know, those brownies you used to make. You know, we used to all sit around the table here -- you, me, Emily, Nikolas -- laughing, telling stories.
Elizabeth: Yeah. Oh, it seems like so long ago.
Lucky: Oh, yeah. You know, it's so bizarre how someone's whole world can change in just a few short years.
Messenger: Lucky Spencer?
Messenger: I have an envelope for you. If you'll just sign here, please.
Messenger: Thank you.
Lucky: No problem.
Lucky: Hmm. Seems important.
Elizabeth: What is it? What's the matter? Who's it from?
Lucky: It's from my father. He sent me his will.
Courtney: I haven't done what's best for A.J. I've done what's best for me.
Jason: You know, A.J. Would want you to look out for yourself, to be ok.
Courtney: He's been trying to help. I mean, he's called every day to check on me. I just haven't told him that the stalker thing is getting worse. I haven't even mentioned you.
Jason: Ok, then tell him everything as soon as he gets back, everything.
Courtney: No, I can't wait that long. I have to tell him now.
Jason: Call him.
Courtney: Oh, my god. Who could that be?
A.J.: Courtney? Honey, hey -- it's me. Are you ok? Hello? Hey, sweetie.
John: Seeing Brenda on your wedding night must have been quite a shock.
Jax: Yep. It was like seeing a ghost.
John: It's a miracle she survived the crash.
Jane: You've had so much to deal with, dear -- the shooting, the surgery, Brenda and her illness -- and all at a time when you should be on your honeymoon with your new wife.
John: If I know Skye, she's been here at the hospital day and night.
Jax: I still love Skye.
Jane: What about Brenda?
Jax: I'm happy she's alive. I hope she finds happiness in every single day that she has left. But Skye is the woman I love.
Brenda: It is true that I love Jax still, but my time is limited and I have no future, so I have no intention of talking to him about my feelings.
Skye: Well, if he doesn't know now, he will know soon enough.
Brenda: No, he won't. I won't let him know, and I really -- I'm going to go.
Skye: No, Brenda, you can't go. It's not what I want. Not now.
Sonny: You lied to me about my own child.
Carly: I told you why I kept the secret.
Sonny: I don't want to hear excuses. You lied to me. And every day you lied to me, you betrayed me.
Carly: I am completely loyal to you --
Sonny: Yeah, sure.
Carly: And if I wasn't, you would never know about your baby --
Carly: Because Alexis and Ned would have raised it as their own.
Carly: I have done everything I could to help you and this baby. I even helped Alexis. I gave her your medical records so the baby would have its history.
Sonny: You gave away my -- do you hear yourself? Huh? One lie after another. It's like bam! Bam! Bam! Lie! Lie! Lie!
Carly: You know what? We wouldn't have this argument right now if I hadn't told you the truth.
Sonny: Oh, so that makes it ok? Months of dishonesty in -- just because one moment you don't lie, that makes everything fine? Is that what you're trying to tell me?
Sonny: Is that what you're trying to tell me?
Carly: I have been trying and waiting so long to give you a baby.
Carly: Don't you understand how difficult it is for me to tell you about Alexis' baby and that you're the father? Why are you making it harder? Why don't you get it? I told you because I love you, Sonny. Because --
[knock on door]
Carly: I want to have a life with you. What is -- you know what? Get the door. You care about her more than me. Go ahead, grand central station.
Edward: Oh, have I -- have I come at a bad time?
Alexis: What's wrong?
Ned: Grandfather has figured out the truth.
Alexis: About the baby?
Ned: He knows it's Sonny's.
Sonny: What do you want?
Edward: Well, we have a certain business matter to discuss, and, Carly, I think you'll find it rather boring, so why don't you just run along. We won't be --
Carly: Don't you patronize me.
Sonny: Cut to the chase, Edward.
Edward: All right. I have reason to believe that you are the father of Alexis' child.
Alexis: Please tell me that you didn't admit to anything.
Ned: I flat-out lied. But that won't derail grandfather for long. We have to find some strategy to pacify him before he acts on his theory.
Alexis: What are you suggesting?
Ned: I don't know, but we better do something fast. He could decide to tell Sonny.
Alexis: No, he can't. He can't --
Ned: Alexis? Honey, what's going on here?
Alexis: Something's wrong. Something's wrong with the baby.
Ned: Ok. Ok. Stay right there. Just hold it right there. I'll be right back.
>> On the next "General Hospital" --
Courtney: Jason's here because I asked him to be.
Edward: Ned is not the father of the child. You are.
Alexis: Is the baby going to be all right?
Bobbie: The important thing right now is for you to stay very calm.
Skye: You need to resolve this for Jax's sake.
Jane: It's an impossible situation.
Jax: You're telling me to decide who I want.
